It's birthday day! Silas aged up to a child with the rambunctious scamp aspiration and the adventurous trait. Sebastian aged up with the angelic trait and Sawyer aged up with the fussy trait.

"Do you think you brought enough stuff?" Stefan lifted the last box from where he'd unloaded it and grinned at her, clearly teasing. "You know you don't need to bring all your worldly possessions to college, right?" He was just happy she was going to college, after everything that she'd been through. And he was also happy that she was taking some time to figure out what she wanted, especially if she was considering getting back together with him. He knew the sirebond had thrown her for a loop and he would never pressure her into choosing him immediately but the idea that she might was nice. Sucked to be Damon.

dude i need inspiration. gimme! gimme! gimme! xox, splatooshy
Uhh *scrambles for something to type* ok so in the vampire diaries books Stefan has curly dark hair, green eyes, and he and Damon look more visibly like siblings. Also! Damon has very dark eyes in the books. I think they were described as onyx.
Anyways I like to imagine that Show!Stefan looks specifically different than he would otherwise bc of doppelgänger shenanigans. The Silas Effect overwrote everything else.
Completely unrelated to the first thing, but yk how Alaric gets all human-fied after the anti-magic bubble strips him of his vampirism and he’s saved from what had been his death wound?? All I’m saying is that Enzo died of, what, TB? Providing that it didn’t immediately kill him, he could have theoretically been dragged over that same bubble boundary as Alaric and been de-fanged the same way. The mental image of Damon pretending he’s not hovering over both of his suddenly mortal, suddenly v fragile and probably with lingering health issues as vampire blood can’t cure tuberculosis, best friends is so, so funny to me.
Third: I think that Wes totally could have approached Elena between S2-4. Like. Hey, ur Grayson’s daughter (or Jeremy, either, both) I need some research that may be with your dad’s things. Great man, he saved a lot of lives. Or all the suspicious deaths in Mystic have him trying to track down the mysterious killer after the Whitmores—before Aaron and his aunt get targeted. Grayson’s daughter might make good bait. All that’d have to happen is Wes to mention Augustine in Damon’s hearing. Bam. Instant angry vampire. Who now has to explain to his brother and/or their girlfriend why he just tried to kill a scientist. Like he worked with Elena’s father obvs he’s such a good guy. Damon , of course, does not give them a straight answer until Wes realizes what’s up and references his number or whatevs.
Damon, after having Stefan try to hold him back and Elena ask for mercy, bc they don’t have the full story and all they see is Damon holding a defenseless human by the throat: Mercy?
S/E: yeah, mercy
D: Alright. I won’t rip out his guts.
Wes: thank—
D: if he gives me back five years. No. Fifty.
E/S: Fifty years?
D: All the time I lost. Every second I spent numbed to everything.
D: I’ll let him live if he gives them back
W: I can’t—
D: How about this, this should be easier. I’ll let you live if you give me back my best friend.
W:
S/E:
D: no? shame. Guess you die.
In the books, Damon can turn into a wolf and a—I think it was a raven? Anyways I just think that Shapeshifting Damon is Fun, but especially if he just goes Gender is Stupid and Stefan wanders down one morning and is just like… I guess it’s sister today?
Damon: eh, it’s one of those Tuesdays.
Okay, now it’s ur turn 🥺

so since the start of the season Damon has:
hid Jeremy's expulsion & Stefan's missing person status from Elena (trying to be responsible)
colluded with Silas (to bring Bonnie back to life)
murdered Katherine (attempted)
and each of these choices is, at least arguably, in-character. and any of these choices could absolutely lead to tension and an eventual blow-up between him and Elena. if they were looking for an excuse for her to say "you made me compromise my morals, again", there's plenty here. all I'm saying is: the Whitmore family serial killings are not necessary. they add nothing.

other shady things damon did (only what i can recall right now):
not accepting katherine's choice of being escorted by stefan to the founder's ball in 1864, resulting in him waiting for katherine in her room, forcing a kiss on her, and not accepting a 'no' until katherine had to compel him to leave (after he tried to emotionally manipulate her by saying 'isn’t my love enough?')
the obvious horrible things he has done to caroline.
killing lexi on stefan's birthday, stefan's only (best) friend while stefan is forced to watch.
acting inappropriately around elena, his brother's girlfriend (walking around naked, doing absolutely nothing to cover although he knew she was here).
calling katherine names after she rejected him (slut, etc.) but having been obsessed with her before she rejected him.
forcing his blood down elena's throat so she can return as a vampire and he doesn't have to lose her despite her clearly saying that she doesn't want to be a vampire
using andie as 'relationship-replacement' while also using her as a blood bag and keeping her compelled whenever she doesn't want something / has another opinion.
kissing elena against her will while she's still his brother's girlfriend.
killing jeremy in front of elena's eyes because he felt rejected.
trying to seduce elena while she's trying to search and save stefan.
feeding elena his blood despite knowing that feeding another vampire one's blood (blood sharing) is highly intimate and risking a sire bond to happen while she was still with stefan.
taking advantage of that sire bond between him and elena.
telling elena to turn her humanity off instead of soothing her (and because of the sire bond it might have worked to soothe her).
feeding katherine to silas in the way damon did (she was crying and begging and you know you could have done it in a different way).
the things he did to katherine in 5x11 (intentionally giving her drugs to weaken her mind so he could torture and torment her mentally, trying to suffocate her).
going feral after 'elena' breaks up with him and killing innocent people including elena's friend aaron whitmore (and yes, he was on a revenge trip against whiremores but he was elena's friend).
always threaten to lose control if elena leaves him.
burning elena's coffin with elena in it (at least he believed she was in it and was fully aware that she was supposed to be in it) because of some fit. elena was only rescued because someone (enzo? bonnie?) placed elena in a different coffin.

katherine being miserable was funny and deserved
katherine lore was interesting
stefan/caroline build up very intriguing
doppelganger lore was rly cool & satisfying, i like silas & qetsiyah as villains! wish they stuck around longer instead of markos...
sci-fi horror mix-in w the whitmore experiments was also very cool
K//LAROLINE SEX SCENE??!! 🤯
cons
F//ORWOOD HEARTBREAK??!! 😭
d//alena stinky and uncompelling
damon stinky and uncompelling
elena stinky and uncompelling. she is a horrible friend as a vampire
portrayal of college life was mid
travelers had potential but were ultimately bland
BONNIE WAS SACRIFICING EVERYTHING AND NO ONE WAS PROPERLY RESPONDING... 😦
morality seems to have flown out the window???????????? the gang rly went from "is killing kol and his entire bloodline ethical" to "let's blow up a diner full of ppl without question" wtf
the end :-)
S6 actually looks very intriguing??? i just looked at episode synopses and thumbnails and why is the first half lowkey giving The Left-Right Game 👀

Julie said in an interview that Kevin wrote 1x3 and she referenced the scene where Stefan tells Damon "These are people Damon. They aren't puppets," and I believe in that interviewe she also said he thought it was a good way to juxtapose Damon's humanity surfacing at the end of the episode after he sees Elena sleeping after the events of the episode. Kevin also wrote 1x2, 2x1, 2x13, 2x19, and is responsible for the storylines he had with Caroline and Andie but Julie is overly hated and people accuse her of treating Damon like the golden boy even though it was Kevin and not Julie who said Damon was his favorite to write for and Julie's favorite was Caroline. Also Stefan didn't care what Damon did as long as it wasn't in a town he's trying to start over in, as is pointed in 6x4. I also thought it was weird how in the first half of season 5 before Katherine got into Elena's body Caroline was getting along with her better than she did Damon despite the way Katherine treated Stefan and Elena. Caroline was also trying to date Jesse after compelling him and before she found out he was turned into a vampire, with her specifically talking about wanting a cute guy in her life after breaking up with Tyler and constantly called Jesse without knowing that Wes turned him. I don't think she ever apologized to Matt for compelling him while they were together. She never apologized for trying to kill him in season 6, but people hate Matt because he wasn't comfortable with her being a vampire in season 7. Also before she compelled Liam after she tried to take their make out session outside the bar she slams his face really hard against his glass wall before making out with him. I also thought it was weird how Stefan said compulsion was what he missed most after becoming human when Damon asked him if being less physically healthy and strong was what he found lacking as a human. Stefan says "Nothing more important than free will," to judge people but uses compulsion and is sad to have lost that ability after becoming human. I also thought it was weird how in 6x17 he creepily barges into the room of one of the female students at Whitmore without knocking and touches her chest to turn her around when he could've touched her anywhere else.
I love the end of 1x3 because it shows their direction with Damon's character as it pertains to his relationship with Elena. But that was also the first time I saw him act in response to something someone said. He's often affected by the words of others, and Stefan's words sent him to Elena's room. The necklace was all about Damon seeing his humanity, so it's all introduced in that episode.
You're right about Stefan not caring what Damon did as long as it wasn't in a town he was trying to start over in. Such is the case with his comment to Damon in 1x9 and the reality of his comment being shown through Silas in 5x2.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Damon: I'm on edge. Crash diet. You know, I'm trying to keep a low profile. Stefan: You could always just leave, find a new town to turn into your own personal Gas 'n' Sip.
Literally what Stefan does when he leaves town with Klaus in 2x22... he turns the entire eastern seaboard into his own Gas 'n' Sip.
Caroline is hilarious with Katherine because she loves being a vampire, so it's hard to hate the person that turned her into one. I suppose there's a certain level of love there that wouldn't be had Katherine not turned her. A lot of these characters have hypocritical moments whereas Damon is more honest and less hypocritical

I’m trying to understand, so you feel like instead of talking about their problems it makes more sense for a woman who believes she was abandoned by the man she loves and left to die, alone, and nearly did… and for a man who learned of his mistake who has been looking for her for months tortured essentially believing her to be dead, and isn’t sure he has truly found her… the thing that makes sense for these two is to go out to dinner? After one meeting. Help us understand :)
Thanks for trying to understand :) I try to explain:
I think Elijah's position is easier to understand so I start with him first. As you already pointed out, Elijah tortured himself the last past months because he wasn't there to help her when she needed him and feared she might be dead by now. He would do anything for her if he finds her again. He would protect her, give her everything she needs, or - in the worst case - leave if that's what she wants.
I think I haven't explained why exactly I wanted them to have dinner. I usually try to be vague because I don't want to spoil too much and I sometimes change directions / little details so I don't want anyone hoping for something which might doesn't make it into the finished chapter.
But anyway. It's past midnight and Elijah is at the fountain and is having an emotional moment. There, to his great surprise, he meets Katherine again. The reason why she's out there is because she's hungry (simplified told - I don't want to go into too many details yet). Let's call it a nightly ravenous appetite (again something I want to explain some time later).
She got herself some food, but it’s something she calls 'toxic poison' on the show if you know what I mean. Aka not really healthy/good food.
Now remember that Elijah would do anything for her. She's obviously hungry and she has gotten herself bad food that will most likely result in stomach pain. He wants to help and make sure she is capable of sleeping without getting stomach pain hence why he offers to take her out for dinner (something small, no fancy four-course meal).
Okay, now I come to Katherine and my (initial) plan.
The situation is of course the same as mentioned above (the reason why she even meets him is that she was out to get herself something for her nightly ravenous appetite).
Katherine isn't entirely sure how it could be that he's there because she is aware that she isn't drunk (this time). She, therefore, isn't sure if he's real (she's not sure if it is a sign of starting delusions or if it's some kind of waking dream / somnambulism?).
She's not pleased to see him and tells him she doesn't need him anymore. But they talk and it results in her challenging her to do something that Elijah would never do under normal circumstances. But he does it for her which shows that at least some of his words from their previous talk are true.
She also knows that the food she has gotten herself will most likely result in stomach pain if she eats too much of it (which she doesn't care about at that moment because she's hungry af). He then makes the offer to take her out for dinner and she considers it. She doesn't trust him entirely, no matter if he's real or not, hence why she makes that 'kidnapping-comment' I mentioned a few days ago. She doesn't trust him but she sees that his offer is beneficial for her. It would also be a chance to test if he's a) real or indeed a product of her imagination and b) if he means what he said.
Why do I have the focus on a hungry Katherine? That's simple, I want to show the challenges she faces with being human. Even in canon, she's an extremely hungry person (as shown when she was kidnapped by Nadia // when she went to Whitmore Collage to pretend to be Elena where she immediately asks where the food was + she did it for Elena's meal card // when she orders herself an entire table of food after she survives being fed to Silas). Her priorities have changed in some aspects.
Why does she agree to come? Katherine still has a motto: "Wait. How do you think I survived 500 years? It wasn't because I was a vampire, it's because I never looked back. Don't be dumb. Survive." I mean yes, she's currently not in a situation in which she will starve or die but she sees it's advantageous for her. Even if it's only so that she won't have stupid stomach pain. I also think that she had been in a situation in which she was constantly starving /famishing before she turned up at the Salvatore's for help so accepting the chance of food is probably a (new) survival instinct.
But it's Elijah? She doesn't trust him, especially not emotional-wise. She's not keen on having him around. BUT at the same time, she still feels something for him although she doesn't know why or what it is. I'm inspired by her reaction to Elijah in 5x11 in which she was happy to see him. He left and broke her heart and trust, yes, but she doesn't blame him for her current situation. She blames Elena for forcing the cure down her throat, she blames Damon for being horrible to her, she blames Silas for existing and being after her, and she also to some point blames herself for having lost control over her emotions because she was so damn jealous of Elena. She does not blame Elijah for her near death-experiences because he wasn't involved in this. Besides, he accuses her of playing games with him and deceiving him? Fine, now she's doing just that (or CAN do just that). Perhaps he can spot the difference. I also think that due the fact that she's not entirely sure if he's indeed here or if it's some kind of dream, she might be more ... laid back? I know some say it's not possible to move places or go to a restaurant if it's only a dream but I know realistic dreams exist - up to the point that some locations feel like a Déjà-vu when visited in ‘real life’. Chances (for her) are high that she wakes up in bed the next morning with the food she has gotten the night before and has only dreamed the entire encounter.
What do I promise myself out of that dinner? I want to give Elijah an opportunity to show that he truly cares for Katherine and that he's willing and able to help her if she accepts his help. I want to create an atmosphere in which it's easier for them to talk and have an actual conversation. For Elijah to carefully address some topics (Is she okay right now? Does she need anything else? Is she currently safe (aka does she feel safe)?
I hope that perhaps explains my initial thoughts behind it? :s

silas with 1, 16, and 41? 🤔
Tumblr media
No longer than 10 minutes. He absolutely has to have something to do- doodling, fiddling with something, ect. He gets bored very easily, regardless.
Tumblr media
He hates feeling weak, and being out of control. The personality he's built for himself so he feels safe relies heavily on him feeling confident in his abilities, so when that is torn away, he's scared. He also hates seeing others be hurt if he isn't the one doing it.
Tumblr media
To put it simply, he doesn't like them. There's no real reason for this, except for him getting annoyed if they were to constantly bug him. However, if they were close to him (i.e, a sibling) he would be fiercely protective of them.

At long last!
The first two chapters (well... one chapter and a prologue) of the fixit fic for season five of The Vampire Diaries I've been working on for years. Getting the motivation to actually sit down and type this out was the hardest part.
So, as I said, this is an alternate take on season five, which I think was when this show truly went off the rails and took a nosedive in terms of plot. It felt like the easiest jumping off point, because the Mystic Falls Gang had all graduated high school and it was a clean start heading off to college.
I do explain it in the prologue and the notes, but I did change a few things about the season four finale so that I could start out nicely.
Elena, Caroline and Bonnie are heading to Whitmore College, where they'll be roommates. Yes, Bonnie is alive! She didn't sacrifice herself to save Jeremy (again) and then spend the entire season suffering because of that whole Anchor plot line.
Matt is also attending Whitmore on a scholarship, and his roommate is going to be an original character I made specifically for this story (his name is Ash) to take the place of Stefan, Jeremy and Tyler.
Speaking of Stefan, he is not rotting in the safe at the bottom of the quarry, and he is not Silas' doppelganger. Silas is still petrified and in the safe the way they intended him to be, with Stefan having headed our west the way he told Lexi he was going to. And Tyler is gone because of Klaus, helping out a werewolf pack to take his mind off the fact he was run out of his own home.
And Katherine is a big part of this first segment of the story, picking up where we left off, with her being force-fed the Cure and being turned into a human. Her ire with that and her desire to return to vampirism is the driving force of this story.
The story will start off pretty similar to season five but will get more different the further we stray from the starting point, with a lot of characters from the show introduced into the show (Aaron, Dr. Maxfield, Nadia, Enzo, etc...)
If you decide to read, please leave a comment, or come here and comment, because I need the motivation to keep going with the story.
Happy Reading.

Hi
I have a question about SYIMN
How do you think Caroline might react if she sees this intense and new connection between Elena and Klaus?
[First off, I'm so sorry for responding so late. I saw this day before yesterday and I really wanted to answer but my last exam was today and I just needed to have a stress-free mindset to answer]
If you remember all the events in SYIMN, they stick to TO canon-wise, but since Elena's here, it's kind of a canon divergence in the same universe. However, TVD-wise, the events totally change, since Elena is no longer an integral part of Mystic Falls.
Therefore, things like 'Katherine possessing Elena's body', 'Stefan drowning', and 'the Klaroline hookup in the woods' didn't actually happen. In SYIMN, Klaus and Caroline said goodbye to each other on their own terms. Klaus busied himself with NOLA/Mikaelson drama and Caroline fought Silas along with Bonnie and later on, went to Whitmore with Bonnie and Stefan.
The only person that's tying the TVD characters along with the TO characters together is Elena. It's her debacle with Damon that's got the TVD characters worried about her and her behavior and brand new powers that's got her mingling with the characters on TO.
Till this point, all these characters are separated. But, eventually, there will be a time when Damon and Elena will face off and finally settle everything. This will obviously require an appearance from several TVD characters, one of them being Caroline.
"That's why, for the sake of the story, all I'm going to say is that they're going to be surprised by the dynamic that's been built up between Klaulena till that point. Everyone will somewhat have a different reaction and Klaus will certainly have a chat with someone for the sake of Elena and they'll sort everything out."
As for when will that happen? *looks at notes* You can expect the face-off to happen in a chapter between chapters 15 to 20.
Thank you for your question! Have a lovely day/night ahead of you <33

The whole Augustine vampire storyline is in heavy competition with the Travelers storyline for most absurd plotline in TVD so far. Those two are leading the race, but let’s not forget the whole Silas thing in season 4 or the Silas, Qetsiyah and Amara thing in season 5 (although that at least provided an explanation for the Other Side and the doppelgangers).
Back to the Augustine vampires, why was Damon one? I swear they just wanted to make him look bad. Turns out Damon was still killing off Whitmores in the present day, as he was dating Elena! How convenient! We already knew he was a terrible person, but why in the world would the dude pass up on a day with Elena just to kill some random person? In the name of revenge? Isn’t that a bit of a stretch? He was a prisoner decades ago, and ever since he met Elena and reunited with Stefan his M.O has been different. He mostly kills people that get in his way and rarely actually seeks them out. He also “respects” Elena enough to generally try not to kill people, which is why he kills people only when it serves a greater good (ie. to save Elena in some way) or when he’s under emotional duress. I don’t want to defend the guy, but the idea that he’d go on a road trip after getting together with Elena just to kill off a distant relative of the people who tortured him decades ago is something Damon would not do. That’s something he’d do out of boredom, maybe, but not when he had Elena.
It’s like this season is once again doubling down on the idea that Damon is bad for Elena. But I don’t see the point? We’ve known that for ages. Back in season 3, when Damon and Elena grew close, he still killed Alaric to prove a point. Elena knows he’s impulsive, cruel, etc. and that love won’t change him. I think that’s the point here: love won’t change Damon and Elena needs to know that. But Elena does know that? Or she knew that... I don’t know why the show turned her into someone who deludes herself into thinking Damon will change. But I guess that’s why Damon is getting this storyline. After a “magical” summer with Elena, where he behaved, Elena is forced to face the fact that Damon never changed and never will.
But, still, it begs the question: what is the point of driving a wedge between Damon and Elena? It only makes sense if the writers were thinking of getting Elena back together with Stefan. Otherwise, they’re just making Delena, their main ship, look bad, and, more importantly, make Elena, their hero, look bad. Elena is still supposed to be the heroine, but they keep painting her in a bad light because of Damon. I just don’t get it? Why would they turn their heroine into an enabler? What’s the end goal? Make her less likable? Give her a redemption story? Show how people get roped into doing bad things by those they love? I really don’t get it. Unless the whole point is to have Elena run back into Stefan’s arms - which does not happen - then it’s all pointless. They’re just ruining their main characters for no reason, Damon included. He used to be predictably unpredictable. When he killed people, it usually made sense. For example, he killed Lexi because he wanted to hurt his brother. However, in season 4, it was revealed that he killed Lexi because she reminded him of the time his humanity was off. What a load of bullshit. If they were trying to make him look better, they failed. They should’ve let bygones be bygones instead of coming up with an absurd excuse like that. In trying to make Damon a slightly better person for Elena, they kind of made him worse. He’s less sympathetic now, and even more selfish than he used to be. Like, he’s better in some ways, but his behavior is even more unhinged, because, one day, he’s being nice, the next it’s revealed he murdered a baby. They made him into an even bigger asshole in order to, I assume, redeem his character in some way. What was the plan? Make him look bad, then redeem him? Because that didn’t pan out. Was the plan to make Elena hate him? Make Elena the person who would love an incorregible monster? (She already was). I don’t get it. The writers truly lost the plot.

plotted starter for @paestiche ♥
an accident brought amara back to life. one of the travelers who were responsible for moving her desiccated body has hurt themself and blood has touched her lips which caused her to finally physically awaken after 2.000 years of being trapped inside her own body and mind.
being finally awake, however, did not ease her pain or the persistent voices of the dead who didn't allow her a moment of silence. their whispers drove her mad as she targeted her way to mckinley, knowing from the dead that didn't survive the search for it, that there had been the last location of the cure which was her only salvation. her only chance to finally find peace.
amara was weakened but she refused to be the monster they had made her and consume more blood. when she finally arrived at whitmore at nighttime, she looked even more run down after having made contact with dangerous futuristic things she couldn't even name. her breath was hitching in her throat and she pressed her eyes shut. her head felt as if it's exploding and she hissed in agony. "stop. you all need to stop." of course, the voices didn't stop and she pressed her petite hands against her temples.
it's too much. she can't. she just can't handle it anymore.
a tear ran down her cheek as she blindly stumbled into a hall in an attempt to escape those voices, not realizing where she's even heading. the voices dimmed slightly and amara carefully opened her teary eyes to peek around.
this room was large and full of colorful stuff she hadn't seen before. it stank of sweat and something sharper. the air was stuffy in this room full of leftovers and things she couldn't name. eventually, however, she discovered something large laying on the floor and she instantly recoiled, eyes widened in fear. "no. go away, go away." the brunette bumped into a table full of goblets which fell to the floor. surprisingly, it wasn't as loud as she had expected but she flinched nonetheless and stumbled into the other direction, closer to the person that laid on the floor.
the permanent voices in her head suddenly started to transform into a hiss and amara squinted and fell to her knees, her hands pressed against her head yet again. "no. i told you. i can't, can't help you. leave me alone. please. leave me alone." her voice broke and she started to sob. the voices in her head swelled up, making it impossible to filter out any words. she just wanted it to stop and she hissed again to get some of the pressure out of her lungs when it stopped out of a sudden.
the tension didn't leave her petite body entirely but she dared to open her eyes again only to realize she's kneeling right in front of that person. a person whose face is burnt into her very soul. she blinked the tears away and stared at him bewildered. she had seen this face a thousand times in the past two thousand years but it had never been him.
"silas?" she breathed and blinked again "are you real?" her hand raised to touch his cheek but then she let it drop as if touching him would burn her.
