Hey I saw your post about iwtv turning fails and just wondering if you wud be willing to expand more on that, what the root of the problem is and how Louis solves it? Sorry I don't wanna read the books but the lore is so interesting
Hey!
Soooo this is likely a huge spoiler for the later books and likely the show, too. Fair warning;))
In real short:
In the later books Amel, the spirit that propels them and initially made them vampires (through a fusion with Akasha) wakes. He is in agony, spread too thin, and he makes vampires burn others to “thin their ranks“. While he is spread too thin turnings fail, as one of the symptoms.
Louis, in the books, recognizes what is different for him than for the others wrt to this spirit - he is “disconnected“ from the web because of his suicide attempt in Merrick (which is also why that suicide attempt is so important, not only for Louis‘ personal development (and it is!) but also because it does disconnect him).
He suggests the theory of “the silver cord“ (remember the “cord“ comment in ep7?^^) - and also a way to sever the cords for all vampires.
They manage it by temporarily halting Lestat‘s heart (who carries the core at that point) and everyone (except Lestat) gets disconnected.
Afterwards the existing vampires all have their own… piece, or copy of spirit tendril, so to speak, and can successfully turn again.
I‘m not sure how exactly they will implement all this in the show (since they‘ll likely omit the replimoids I think), but I am pretty sure they will go there.
There have been quite a lot of hints already, and also re Amel‘s awakening, imho, of which we might have seen something in ep5 (Lestat says “I don’t know what possessed me that night“) since Amel‘s awakening is a violent one and he is drawn to blood and violence - and loves to look at Louis through Lestat‘s eyes.
We‘ll see ;)
But there’s actually quite a lot hinted at already, and I bet when we‘ll rewatch in a few years we’ll all playfully groan bc it was alllllll set up ^^

"Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern. Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it." - Ecclesiasties 12:6-7

Some Scripts of Sidney Howard
We’ve had numerous occasions to mention playwright and screenwriter Sidney Howard (1891-1939) on Travalanche. Today he is best remembered as the principal screenwriter of Gone With the Wind. He won an Oscar for that script. It was received posthumously, as Howard had died in a tractor accident on his farm prior to the event. Gone with the Wind, indeed! He also adapted two Sinclair Lewis novels…

(Part 1) What do you think of the 'vampire bond' thing? At first I thought it was just a BS excuse Louis invented rather than admit he truly loved Lestat, but Sam & Jacob mentioned it in interviews like it's a legit thing - they may just be playing along but idk. Imo It's natural for ppl to bond through such life-altering experiences & Loustat were in love already, but IF there's a supernatural aspect to it, it's more complex than he claims. Maybe the bond magnifies whatever is already there?
Tumblr media
Hmmm. So.
*cracks knuckles*
First off, I do think it is an expression of them being connected by love. Lestat made Louis in love, that bonds them quite differently than Magnus and Lestat (as an extreme example.) (That is the romantic explanation^^)
And there is a blood connection. There is this musing in the books, where Lestat theorizes, that master and fledgling cannot hear each other directly because they're simply too close - the blood is too similar. They are running mental interference on each other. (That is the err.... "scientific" explanation^^)
Now, nonny, I don't know how much you know of the books. BUT - vampires are connected by a cord, the silver cord, as Louis (!) later calls it... this silver cord is the spirit that propels them and that is a wide net in a way. This spirit, Amel, has a bigger part in the last three books, and this silver cord is an important aspect (and Louis' part in the story a bit bigger again).
When Lestat says they're connected by a cord (for the vampire bond)... now believe me, but I squealed^^ (and his insistence on it, guhhh^^). That wording was no coincidence, imho. And we know that the Prince Lestat arc is part of the writer's awareness / consciousness at the very least (as the dance is very much proof of, and several interviews refer to Prince Lestat, too). (That is the later book canon explanation^^)
So where does that leave us?
I think it is a combination of all three factors, but the wording of it is no coincidence imho, not in a show like this.
I have theorized about that before, but Amel might even play into the events of episode 5 - we are working on a condensed timeline, and Amel's coming to consciousness was a violent and bloody one. He literally drove several vampires to extreme violence. (The "nature" comment is still a bit weird to me there, no matter how it happened.)
So... we'll see I guess.
The "silver cord" is too big an event in later books to skip (if we get there, fingers crossed) - this will show up again.
And as such the cord, no matter how the combination of all the factors works - but the cord, the bond... is real.
