December 11th, 2023
These photos are from a couple of days ago, at the company party. Oh, just 9 more days of work and I'm going to have a holiday break, can't wait!
I'm applying to Erasmus mundus again this year. Of the required documents, I still have to adjust my CV and motivation letter. There'll be 3 programmes and I wrote a motivation letter for each one. I can only say that I have my favorite and this one goes to my choice number 1! The preliminary results come out on 02/15, I hope I pass this stage, fingers crossed! 🤞🏼✨

Important news ⚠️
In less than a month I will graduate from college so there will be fewer posts next year. I'm thinking of doing a master's degree but nothing is settled.
I started this blog in 2015 as a 14 year old and it has consistently been school/study related content for the past 9 years. Now, as a 22 yeard old, I can finally say that there will be no more studying! (At least as far as I am aware of)
So I can officially announce that the blog will migrate to stuff related to work in the field of language and literature.
Thank you all of you who have been here since the beginning and all of you who tagged along the way. 🤗

Why ?!

17.12.20 • One thing I absolutely love doing when learning a new language is listening to songs or watching movies/tv shows. Having context is perfect to better associate a word with its meaning. And I find it so much easier to understand new vocabulary—as a translation can sometimes be harder to remember. Of course, it also helps with the accent! The song I decided to decipher today was Wer bin ich by LaFee 🌤

🌧️ day 12: do you have any studying methods you use? if so, share them with us (please *sobs*)!
i'm the kind of person who studies sitting down for hours with little breaks, so idk how useful my advice will be. the main points of my study system are:
stay at the library if you are desperate/need to finish quickly
forest app in intervals of at least one hour and a half.
lots of coffee/energy drinks
headphones off but covering your ears
go through your class notes, do every exercise/annotate in the material given by the professor the things you wrote down in class. this is the most important thing but it requires that you really pay attention in class everyday.
extra exercises after, for as long as you can.
failing an exam is not a big deal, focus in doing as much as you can without worrying if it will be enough, if it isn't the knowledge you gained will make it easier to pass the class later.

12/4/21 - 3:30 am || not pictured: strawberry applesauce! yum!
finals season is upon us and i am in real danger of failing all at least two of my courses. one of them is intro to study of literature which i am taking for credit so if i fail it will not be the end of the world but i would rather not. the other is my feminist and queer theory course. i have not turned in a single assignment for this class yet. each response paper is worth 15% of my grade and the spillers one was due weeks ago. as was my final paper proposal. i am intending to major in gender studies and taking another course with this professor next semester so this is actually really fucking bad.
god willing, i’ll finish my paper on spillers by morning and email it to the professor along with my project proposal. and then spend tomorrow writing my butler paper, and sunday/monday on my sedgwick paper. or i could go lay facedown in the woods and forget about college idk it’s sounding more and more like a good idea every day.

jul 12
worked on an application essay in the courtyard yesterday and listened to the torrential downpour, very peaceful
[brain dump/vent about 1st year below]
my first year of grad school will be challenging in more ways than one and a true test of my time management. i expressed this concern to my soon-to-be PI and they told me to remember "the time where your grades matter has passed. just do the bare minimum to get credit for the class" and thats honestly helpful. like i know how to direct my attention for my coursework, and they also gave me tips on time blocking for lab, etc etc.
it'll be an adjustment and there will definitely be a rough transition period the first couple months, but i know i've got this. do you all have any tips??

6/100 days of productivity. Tons of work (for courses and for my campus jobs) today, but I’m trying to stay on top of it all. The weekend (and eventually spring break) are just around the corner though!!!! Trying so hard to hold on

Advice that I have learned over the past 8 years in three different colleges: 1. You don't need to take perfect aesthetic notes. You do need to do your homework, skim your textbooks, pay attention in class though. These notes are for you. Who cares what the internet thinks? 2. If you can get a job in your field. A job. Not an internship. You will discover that getting paid is nice, and that maybe the job aspect of your major sucks more than your love for the major does. 3. No one cares that you are the smartest in class. In college there should (and usually is) someone smarter than you in your class. Showing off and sucking up in class won't make people impressed. It will make them avoid you. 4. No one cares what you wear. That being said, use some common sense. 5. Learn to say 'no.' I mean it. Set boundaries. 6. Don't pay for things that you don't need. If you spend a lot of time at the library, see if they have your text books online. Don't buy a digital and a hard copy. 7. IF YOU NEED ACCOMIDATIONS FOR SOMETHING JUST AS SIMPLE AS TEST ANXIETY, GO TO YOUR DISABILITY CENTER. 8. Utilize your free resources. Every college I have been to has a counseling center. 9. Your professors and TAs are there to help you, and are people too. Talk to them. 10. Show up on the first day of class, even if waitlisted. Some departments let teachers over ride their wait list and will get you in if you show up and talk to them.

28.2.2023
Back to campus for the second day of semester 1. I spent so long on Bio today and still feel like I haven’t achieved anything because it was all textbook readings and mindless notes.
Hoping tomorrow feels more productive, I’m putting the textbook away for a bit because it’s bothering me now.
Attended the Student Association’s club awards tonight, and my club got the award for Most Active in 2022! Keen to take on some more responsibility as secretary this year and organise some fun and engaging events <3

18.07.21 • I started journaling in my target language, aka german! The goal here is to accept mistakes and to avoid overthinking the process. My main objective is to summarize my days and express my feelings while trying to be as fluid as possible. By the end of each week, I'm planning on rereading my notes with a more critical eye to makes annotations and learn some new vocabulary to describe my routine. Harvest season also started x
