Hello! I have a character who has nerve damage in both her left arm and leg and I'm a lil stuck on what mobility aids I can give her, since she'll sometimes need one for her knee (which has the bulk of the nerve damage in her leg). As far as I'm aware, crutches won't work since it'll put pressure on the left shoulder, which has the bulk of the nerve damage in her arm, and a cane will be difficult since her hand can get stiff and not hold it properly. Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated!
Hi, thank you for your question!
If I understood the situation correctly, your character could definitely use a cane as you use it on the opposite side from the "bad leg". So unless she has the stiffness issue in her right hand as well it shouldn't be a problem.
For example: my right leg is the worse one, so I use a cane in my left hand. This way when I walk it feels more natural because people generally go left hand forward and right leg forward etc. It's great because when you walk you put the weight on either the good leg in the middle, or the cane and the bad leg on the sides which redistributes the weight between them and thus makes it less painful.
Some other options would be;
a singular crutch — basically like a cane but more useful for a lot of people as it provides more balance;
two platform crutches — they're like regular crutches but made for people who have a very weak grip, probably not ideal due to the shoulder situation she has but it's still an option?;
a hemiwalker — a walker that you use with one hand, kind of like a very advanced cane. I have very little experience with these so I won't be able to help much I'm afraid :-( (sad face);
a power wheelchair — much bigger than all the previous options obviously, but you can operate with only one hand or even no hands if needed. If I misunderstood your ask and she has grip issues in both hands, this would probably be the best option (it also has "power" in the name which makes it even cooler).
For anything that you use with one hand (cane, crutch, hemiwalker etc.) you will use it on the opposite side from the bad leg. If you're familiar with Dr House, he uses his cane wrong (lol) - walking like that seems very frustrating and painful to me.
You also might want to look at this post, which talks about the basics of a lot of mobility aids! There are also different types of crutches or canes mentioned (most notably the quad cane which provides much more stability than your regular cane) that you might want to consider for her.
I hope my answer was helpful! If you have more questions, feel free to send another ask.

Do you have any advice you're able to give currently on dealing with ableist harassment and dogpiles? It's the whole nine yards - people putting words in our mouth even to the point of claiming we said the opposite of what we said; calling us crazy and insane and saying we should be institutionalized; blaming us for horrific and violent ableist harassment of people who also reblogged the same post we did who disagreed with us; and directly talked over and erased my experiences as a severely disabled person.
(What I said literally boiled down to: "hey, let's not moralize having hobbies because it doesn't make people less capable of harm or more likely to be an asshole, and also please stop saying all disabled people are abled enough to have hobbies because I've been disabled enough before to not be able to have even consumptive (meaning like watching tv or listening to music) hobbies for long stretches of time". There's a similar longer version of that on my personal blog as well, but the harassment is on my shared disability sideblog.)
Like I guess I just... it's okay if people disagree, but the amount of other disabled people who were actively cruel and literally saying people like me don't exist and being so desperate to shut me up talking about my experiences with ableism that they spam harassed the blog is really hard. Like I've been on the internet long enough to know that this is utterly par for the course for disability discourse and even to know that any claim of "can you believe someone said [ridiculous thing] is ableist" is a dogwhistle that it's either manipulation of or outright lies about what the original disabled person actually said in order to shut down the actual conversation but...
I know you've dealt with this, so do you have any more advice on how to handle it than "turn off anon, temporarily turn off asks if necessary, delete the reblog if the harassment gets too much" (already done, mod health comes before discourse as a hard rule)? Especially for like, dealing with the internal emotions about it and not just the situation?
Um also if you don't want to answer this at all feel free to just like, put a stop sign emoji or something and I won't send any more asks about it. I know you publish all asks but since I know this is a stressful subject I still wanna let you know that I will NOT be an unsafe person if you just wanna tell me to fuck off X)
This has been sitting in my inbox for quite a while bc I didn't have the energy to answer it.
There's no one good way to deal with dogpiles, and you've already listed most of them. A couple more, randomly:
Make sure you take time away. Go see a movie bc it'll make you put your phone away, you know?
Have someone else look at your asks and emails so you ain't gotta.
Report shit. It won't really do anything, but it'll make you feel better, anyway.
If you're actually physically threatened or any of the things really twig your "something is really wrong," make a Google Drive folder and stash screenshots in case shit escalates to you needing to talk to law enforcement. If nothing else, it'll help you feel like you're in control.
The last one is more helpful than you'd think.
I hope it's let up for you.

The Dreams of Hyacinth 11
First / Previous / Next
Nick relays the story so far to Queenie. He talks about boosting the coffin box, finding out it's empty, meeting with Jameson, working with Sunny, the whole story. When he's finished, she's silent a long time.
"Nick, I can see why your ladies like you. You have empathy, and are kind and are generous. Honestly when we first met I was just a twinge sad that Evie wasn't interested." She chuckled. "But Nick, you're kind of dim, you get that, right?"
Eastern nods. "Finally, someone else sees it. Right Sel?"
Selkirk agrees. "Dim as a spent LED."
"I knew there was a reason I liked your girlfriends Nick. They're the smart ones. So, let's get down to it. Both you and Eastern have a full AI suite of cybernetics installed by Jameson's dark doctors, and he didn't even give you a tutorial? That sounds like Jameson. I swear, the AIs are all the same. It's easy for them, so they assume it's easy for everyone. Selkirk, this is going to take a bit, and I think you'll be bored. Why don't you head up front with Evie and see if you two can figure out dinner. We'll be ready to take a break by then."
Selkirk stands. "Sure thing Queenie, thanks for taking care of these two idiots. We'll figure out how to pay you."
Queenie chuckles. "Don't worry, it'll be very affordable."
Selkirk makes her way to the front and finds Evie back behind the counter, watching something on her Pad. "Queenie kicked you out eh?" She doesn't look up from her show.
"Yeah, said I should find dinner. Everyone is going to be hungry when they're done."
Evie nods. "Probably. Even now, when Queenie gets it in her head to do some work, everyone else comes out tired."
Selkirk looks up at Evie. If she squints, she can see the resemblance. They have a similar bone structure in their cheeks. "Evie, I thought most humans died around one hundred or less. She's so..." she struggled to find the words. "Coherent?"
Evie laughed. "She has good days and bad days. You're just lucky today was a good day. But yeah, she thinks the implants are keeping her alive almost as much as her body at this point."
"Where did she get them?"
"Just like she explained. An AI thought they were 'helping' and gave them to her. As you probably guessed by our experience with Nick, running the shop wasn't always out main source of income and Queenie's line of work wasn't exactly... legal all the time."
Selkirk says nothing.
"To hear her say it, it was fashionable to have black market cybernetic mods installed back 70, 80 years ago. I don't know, it seems an awfully foolish thing to do for fashion, but she swears it was 'this close' to going mainstream."
Selkirk glances back down the hall. "I don't know. I've been around humans a long time, and I completely believe that they'd do something stupid like get cybernetic implants for fashion."
Evie laughed. "You're right of course. How long have you been on Hyacinth, Selkirk?"
"You can call me Sel if you want. I've been here, Ancestors, twenty five years now? I moved here from K'lax when I was just a kid. Familial group got together and sent me off to school on Hyacinth." She smiled bitterly. "Go and make something of yourself. Do your family proud!" She shook her head. "I was mostly sent here to get out of the way. The paterfamilias wanted his offspring to take over the leadership of the familial group. An older kit from a deceased line was a... complication."
Evie looked down at Selkirk. "Do you still talk to them?"
Selkirk flicked her ears. "Not in years. I sent them a message back when the Empress Melody shit started going down telling them I was all right and going to stay on Hyacinth, but never heard back so... I stopped sending messages. I'm sure they think they're better off that way."
"Oh Selkirk. I bet there are still people in your familial group that love you."
She snorted. "You haven't met them. I'm sure they don't feel any ill will towards me, but I'm also sure they don't feel anything to me. It's ancient history." She leaned back off the counter. "Queenie said to get dinner so I assume that if we don't she'll be upset."
Evie laughed. "Upset is possibly the most mild way that could be phrased." She took out her pad. "I know some local places that she likes, take a look and tell me which ones would work for you and your crew."
Nick and Eastern came out of Queenies room hours later looking exhausted but pleased. Queenie came out shortly after them with the help of her walker, but she also looked brighter and more alive than when she went in. Instead of going to Queenie's bedroom, they made their way to the front of the store, where Selkirk and Evie had set up a table piled high with takeout from a local place.
Eastern looks hungrily at the food. "This is quite a spread Selkirk, nice work!"
Selkirk flicks her tail and her ears. "Evie helped, but we both decided that you were going to come out of your training hungry."
"I feel like I haven't eaten in years." Nick laughs and sits at the table."
Queenie shuffles to the head of the table and sits. "Now, like I told you, those implants are powered by your bodies. Use them a lot and you need the calories to recover." She poked Nick's soft belly. "It's also a decent way to build a calorie deficit if you ever decide to lose that paunch, Nicholas North," but she was smiling as she said it.
They all sat down and started on dinner. After a few minutes, Selkirk looked up at Eastern and Nick. "How did it go?"
Queenie started gesturing with a fork full of food. "Typical AI. Stuff them full of tech and send them on their way without so much as a lesson on how to work it. They're lucky Nick knew me; they could have had their brains braised by the first aggressive attack they endured."
Eastern put down her fork. "We're very grateful Queenie, thanks for all the help." She looked at Selkirk. "Queenie put is through an initial setup, helped us with our encryption and firewalls and gave us some basic lessons on access and intrusion. Also, she looked at Nick's additional tech that Jameson installed. He could pilot a starship!"
Selkirk blinked and looked at Nick, surprised. "You can pilot a starship?"
Nick looked awkward and shrugged. "According to Queenie, I have additional modules and sensors that are related to piloting starships. She thinks its an upgrade to the old Colony Ship co-captain package."
"But... why? You're not going to be piloting a starship."
Nick shrugged. "Who knows with AIs. Maybe Jameson thinks I'll need it. Maybe he thought it would be funny. Maybe he's making a point to another AI faction that we don't even know about." He put his head down and continued to eat.
Eastern nodded. "You feel it too Sel, we're pawns in a much larger thing here. It's entirely possible that Jameson gave Nick the piloting package to show someone that AIs aren't the only game in town when it comes to operating a ship.
Queenie looked up at the three of them. "My advice is to not try and make sense of what AIs do. They go and do their own thing, they always have. It's up to us to stay out of their way and try and not get burned. Remember what they did when Empress Melody came by? They linked in a pile of their own Starjumpers and attacked her right above us. I remember looking up and seeing the flashes of the fight. It was something else." She shook her head sadly. "I never got to meet the Empress, but I heard she was looking out for everyone in Sol." She looked up at the three of them sharply. "Take heed that lesson though. Keep your heads down, do your work, and don't get involved in AI politics. It's worse than our politics."
Nick glanced at Eastern, but she didn't say anything.
After Dinner, Selkirk tried to pay Queenie and Evie but they wouldn't take her money. "You bought dinner, and you owe us a favor, that's enough." Queenie was firm. Evie smiled. Now, don't be a stranger down here, come by and say hello to Queenie every now and then. I haven't seen her this active in weeks." She winked at the three of them. "You're a good influence on her."
Queenie's cackling laugh. "They're anything but Evie, but they're fun to be around. If you ever need a fence, you see old Queenie first, you get me?"
Eastern assured them that they'd be the first place they stopped when they had some goods to fence and said their goodbyes.
When they left the shop it was late. The Metro ran all night long, but was on a reduced schedule to allow for maintenance. They decided to take an omnibus up to Eastern's apartment. As they rumbled along, Eastern and Selkirk fell quickly asleep on Nick as he looked out the window and watched Hyacinth go by. He mused on what Queenie had said about AI politics. He felt that it was a bit too little too late with that warning. They were being played off two if not three different factions now with no real sign as to the why.
Nick woke everyone up when it was their stop. They made their way home and fell into bed.
The next morning, everyone got up, got dressed and some coffee and tried to come up with something to do. They still hadn't heard from Sunny, so it was just a matter of waiting to hear from her. She had said that she would do fifty hours of searching, and by Nick's reckoning that meant they'd hear from her tomorrow afternoon.
Nick declared that they'd head to the lake today. Since Hyacinth is so large, the original designers decided to put a large lake on each arm. It was a long shallow lake, not more than three meters deep, but that was enough for watercraft and swimming and a small marine ecosystem. The beaches on the lake were a popular destination. Against Eastern's protestations, Nick took the girls shopping. They rode down arm to some mid range shopping in Laurel square and soon enough Nick found what he was looking for. He bought Eastern a black bikini and a sari skirt in blue and yellow, and found a K'laxi style bathing suit he thought would suit her. When Eastern saw what he bought her she blushed. "Nicholas North, you horndog."
Selkirk looked up at the both of them, "What?"
Eastern laughed. "This is what I was wearing when Nick and I were connected together during the surgery. Nick took me on a memory of a beach on Parvati."
Selkirk's ears flicked playfully. "Well, he has impeccable taste, you look great in it."
Eastern stared at Selkirk's suit too. "I will admit Nick has good taste. The suit he picked for you is stunning."
Selkirks tail and ears poofed in embarrassment. "It not a style I would have ever picked for myself, but I admit I look good in it." Selkirk and Eastern went to Nick and both gave him a kiss. "Nice work."
This time, they picked out a suit for Nick. Eastern insisted on a black speedo like in their shared dream and after picking up some towels and headed back out.
The most popular beach was off Dahila square. They grabbed some food to eat later and rode up to Dahila. From there it was a short omnibus ride to the beach.
Growing up in Naya Chennai, right on the water, the beach on Hyacinth was a bit of a letdown. He went to the beach once or twice after he first moved here and while it was interesting to have a lake and a beach in space, it really couldn't compare to the ocean. Eastern, a kid who was born and raised in space loved it though. It was the largest body of water she had ever seen. Selkirk had fun too. She hadn't been to a large body of water since she was a child, so she was enjoying herself too. Nick decided to try and leg go of his opinions about it being a 'real' beach and just have fun.
They spend the afternoon at the beach, sitting on the soft sand, splashing in the water and having a fun time. Nick even convinced them all to rent a watercraft and they zipped around the lake, getting a view of everything. Nick found a small secluded beach far away from everyone else and they stopped and relaxed all on their own.
Eastern declared that she wanted to try having sex on the beach like in the novels she read and they gave it a try.
It was very sandy.
After, everyone ran into the water to wash the sand off and Nick grimaced. "Okay, I think I speak for everyone when I say that I got sand in places I didn't think it was possible to get sand into. Let's keep that one to the novels, okay?"
Selkirk was in the water up to her head scrubbing her fur as hard as she could. "I agree Nick."
By now it was evening and they had to return the rental. They made their way back to the main beach, returned the rental and found a restaurant right on the water to get dinner. Hyacinth doesn't have sunsets, not really, but it was gently getting dark as they ate, and they even heard some animals in the water making noise as it got darker. You had to squint a little, but you could pretend you were on a planet. Nick looked over at his girlfriends and smiled. "Thanks."
"Eastern raised her eyebrow. "For what, Nick?"
"For being here. For being with me. Both of you. This is nice. Sure, we are deep into some shit, but we're into it together. I don't know." He looked out at the water. "It just feels a little more solvable with you two here with me, eating a nice dinner, looking out at the water."
Selkirk flicked her ears and smiled. "It is nice. Thanks to you too Nick. I'm glad we're all here, together."
After dinner, they slowly made their way back to Eastern's place, chatting and laughing. They kept their bathing suits on, garnering a few side eyes on the omnibus, but nothing else.
They made it to Eastern's place and fell into bed, tired and happy.

Ok ill bite whats dominion smp?
BOY AM I GLAD YOU ASKED
dominion smp, which some members call DSMP for what's probably seo reasons but i find intensely hilarious because it's technically not wrong to abbreviate it like that, is a small lightly modded server based around the origins mod! basically, each member has a different origin, and in much the same way empires members are loosely the ruler of their respective countries, you can sort of consider each dominion member to be kind of a paragon of their respective origin.
thing is, while dominion is defined in part by its relation to the origins mod, there is also a lot of plot stuff that happens that is only tangentially related to the fact that everyone is creatures -- you've got people beefing over stolen goods, everyone sort of vying for power in a vacuum while trying to not seem obvious about it, taxes of "give me all of your diamonds every two weeks i am no longer asking nicely", and also. whatever the hell is going on with shadowmech.
oh yeah also literally like 75% of these ccs have 2000+ day hardcore worlds so the builds are insane.
here's a masterpost on everyone's povs! it doesn't have their Vibes down rn but i can do that really briefly (EDIT LOL NO IT'S NOT BRIEF THIS IS GOING UNDER A CUT):
starting members:
jamiejoan/jammers, dragonborn: elected queen of the server during s1. has a corruption arc, as one does. not many s1 episodes, but (without spoiling anything) her pov for s2 is unique and worth checking out
grady, enderian: doesn't have many episodes and is mainly a streamer. his character is half wet cat and half "guy that makes that's what she said jokes", but somehow in a different direction from scar?
legundo, piglin: champion of the piglins, sent to the overworld by his people for. well for takeover purposes probably. this mostly involves doing capitalism and having trusting-distrustful dynamics with the besties. actually the main server admin but this never comes up incharacter.
fixxitt, inchling: starts off as a thief, escalates WILDLY until by episode 5 welsknight is telling him "you fucked up, buddy" and then he builds a gigantic house. has 2 musical numbers in the middle of episodes that will absolutely knock you out if you're not prepared. also has very good cinematics.
nukeri, elytrian: democracy lover and guy who really, really just wants everyone to get along. canonically descended from icarus; all my friends have emotions about him and i haven't watched him yet but he's a major blorbo-in-law. i'd make a joke about how he's the resident gay scot of the server since they couldn't get smajor, but he literally does have a voice cameo from scott in his s1 finale.
rnjoy, witch: loves doing mad science, committing tax fraud, and has a mushroom son in s2 now. not a lot of s1 episodes but she loves her ravager gertrude i know that much. currently being hunted by --
shadowmech, witherborn: hitman of the server who is only withered rn because he ate a really bad porkchop. no episodes currently, he's in the process of doing a supercut of all his s1 stuff. is also in the process of uh. being very possessed and possibly being the s2 arc baddie rn. it's. fiiiiine. he's just not speaking to anyone and also attacking them during blood moons! totally chill
sneve, blazeborn: like if keralis was oli orionsound but with less musical numbers. sneve is an experience that cannot be described. just. watch his episodes there's only like 3 of them it'll tell you everything and nothing you need to know
taneesha, goat: lover of domes and also psychological warfare. started an advancement race probably as an excuse to steal people's shit. not a lot of s1 episodes but has some plot stuff anyway since she kind of got invited to join jamie's. void cult. yeaaaahhhh.
started midway thru s1:
vikingpilot, phantom: SOMETHING IS SO VERY WRONG WITH HIM. sweet ghostboy who is also incredibly unhinged. canonically dead and was also intangible and invisible for the beginning half of s1 up until the dragon fight. does dark magic, or is at least planning to do dark magic. pluralcoded and you can fight me on this. honestly my top pick for "if you only get one pov"
started at the beginning of s2:
progamebot/josh, sporeling: one video so far! joy's mushroom son. helping her make potions out of a van in the desert atm, which is. actually a breaking bad reference, not a reference to that other dsmp. canonically like a week old at the most. doing pretty well considering this.
kiply, fairy: no episodes yet, but uh. i've been watching her other stuff on and off and something is seriously wrong with her in the best way possible. plays on i think at least 2 different lifesteal-type smps? she is unhinged. she is not a reliable narrator. i love her.
dalilred (wolf) and itsryan (iron golem) also REALLY recently joined so i haven't gotten a pin on their vibes yet. red seems like she has a little bit of a cottagecore aesthetic and ryan seems to be kind of closer to sneve on the shitposter end of the mcyter spectrum, but that's all i've got

hello there! im the person who was asking abt turn ons/off replacements a little while back. i stopped sending asks bc i was away from my computer for a while and wouldn't be able to work on the mod, but im back now and i know which turns ons i wanna replace! if you're still willing to help me out i'd be very grateful!
using Lazy Duchess' mod as a base, i wanna replace a few turn ons from his mod with turn ons from Midge's mod. so it'd be: Grey Hair -> Pet Lover, Underwear and Swimwear -> Stylish, Formalwear -> Uneducated, Glasses -> Accessory, Makeup -> Influential, Cologne -> Life Skills
if you could help me out w this i'd appreciate it a lot, i know nothing abt modding ^^'
Hello! Sorry that it's taken me million years to answer.
I'll explain you Underwear and Swimwear -> Stylish. After you get it to work, you can then ask for some other. Ideally though, after getting some experience about making functional code, it'll get easier for you to figure out them by yourself, too.
Since you don't have experience about modding, it'd probably make the start a bit easier if you take time to follow through this tutorial first. It's not directly related, but aims to make editing BHAVs less alienating. Echo is a great writer and good at explaining things.
I've also written down some very basic UI know-how in the past.
And I recommend using batbox's info section for checking if your edit works as intended, as it shows currently triggered TOs.
So this is the 'underwear and swimwear' code from LD's mod:
Tumblr media
Only three lines (0x26-0x28). By clicking each line you can read from the right what it does.
The first line checks if the sim currently wears swimsuit
The second line checks if the sims currently wears underwear
If the answer to either of these is 'yes' (look at the green lines), the TO gets triggered - that's what the third line does.
This is the 'stylish' code from Midge's mod:
Tumblr media
So six lines (0x8-0xD), still not that much.
The first line checks if the sim currently wears swimsuit
The second line checks if the sim currently wears formal
The third line checks if the sim currently wears underwear
The fourth line doesn't check anything but fetches the info about the sim's cosmetology badge that's needed for the next line
The fifth line checks if the sim's cosmetology badge level is silver or above
And again, the final line is what triggers the TO if the answer to any of the above checks is 'yes'.
So what you want to do is add the formal and the badge check to LD's mod (since it already has checks for the swimwear and underwear).
If you looked at the tutorials I linked earlier in this post, you might already know how. But to give a short version:
Click either of the related checks in LD's mod and hit ins/true to add a new line
Change the new line's opcode to be the same as the line you want to copy from the other mod has (if it's not the same already)
Check that the new line's true and false targets point to where they should point (look at those green and red arrows and try to understand the logic behind them)
Use the box that opens from the button with a quotation mark icon to copy+paste what the line does from the other mod to the one you're editing
Hit commit
That's it. If you get stuck at some specific point, feel free to ask :)

How time consuming is this blog, generally? Because I feel like I might do one for another fandom I'm in (except for rarepairs in general because... Rarepairs beloveds) but I don't know if it'll be too much for me
It varies over time and depending on what's going on, but it's for sure a real commitment! Most of the time, it's a couple hours a week making sure the queue's on track and responding to asks, but when things get busy - like when hosting an event or project - it can absolutely suck up a lot of time! While I've been doing all of the end-of-year stuff, I probably spent at least 2-3 hours a day working on it, and that's a pretty lowball estimate.
I would advise you to try it out for fun! I personally really enjoy everything that goes into it (most of the time - I'm definitely a bit burnt out right now after the last two months of work!), but there are other blogs I've run more casually and equally enjoyed. I would start out with a really low queue (less than five posts a day) to keep the pressure off yourself. See how it feels for a couple of weeks before you decide if you want to go further with it, keep it casual, or just abandon the project! Fanblogs rise and die all the time; there's plenty of reason to give it a try, and no shame in deciding it isn't for you later!
And if you do decide to keep it more serious, I would recommend getting a couple friends in on it to make a team of mods. This is a one-mod blog, but that's not because this blog wouldn't hugely benefit from more mods. I, personally, have just had experiences that make me wary of sharing a blog I care so much about with other mods! It's really better for both the blog and your mental health to work as a team, so you aren't constantly On.

I don't remember if I actually finished writing and sending this ask so sorry if you got this one twice, but I voted for combination of options on the poll because honestly between convention/running more tournaments all of those sound super cool!
i think it would probably be pretty easy to decide to run any kind of tournament as like an "event" if this ended up being a convention blog, if you're considering multiple options simultaneously!
other options for your consideration might be starting up a discord server (that sounds horrifically complicated to me personally, but I don't know how it would compare to running a convention blog— mostly I mention it in case it somehow sounds like less time/work for you) or another identical blog with a different url for the post-tournament convention, if you end up going that route— these suggestions are made specifically to address the concern of this particular competition becoming difficult to find in the future.
anyway yeah!! I would love a dissociation convention for all of our dissociative blorbos especially bc this competition has reignited my love for some of my old blorbos— and if the finals do actually result in anyone playing NITW or reading (?) The Stormlight Archives for the first time I would love to hear about it!!
As of writing this, the convention idea is the most popular option and honestly I'm really starting to feel it!!! It'd be a lot of fun to have a space to just! Celebrate characters with dissociative disorders rather than the usual stigma, angst, negative stereotyping, etc etc! Not just characters with canonical disorders, but also characters who may be coded with plurality and/or dissociation, or simply taking a look into characters who have no such coding and analyzing where others may be getting headcanons from!
I really like the idea of doing in-depth character analyses because I just. Really like reading way too into overanalyzing character behaviors! (I recently had a whole fit over reading way too into overanalyzing the meaning of eye colors of robots from a 2007 cartoon) It'll be harder for certain medias if the medias are less accessible/available or would take a long time to go over everything, like book series, but still!!!
It could also be cool to just- share any good resources I find too! Whether that be articles/books/videos about dissociation and/or dissociative disorders, grounding tips, or other things that could help those of us who experience these!
And then of course the occasional tournament here or there because I like brackets and data collection >:3c
And a discord server would be interesting! I haven't run one in a while so I'm a bit rusty, and would def need to find some mods because solo running servers is anxiety inducing, but I may do that in the future, we'll see!!!

Is it just me or is it a demisexual thing to take ages to get over any kind of relationship? As though the bond you had with them was too strong and the fact that they've chosen to break it off with you doesn't mean that you're mind will stop caring about them immensely? In my experience I've always found myself taking forever to get over people, and I feel it would make sense if it were a demisexuality thing? But Idk.
hi anon, it's your local demisexual mod --
I think the short answer here is "yeah." I don't know that for sure it's tied, but I certainly think that being demisexual has "occasionally" made it difficult to get over past relationships (both romantic and platonic). even when rationality says that it'll never go back, that it's not healthy to dwell, and that there are others, something just... stays. like elastic, the heart remembers its old shapes the longer and more strongly it's been held in one.
at least for me, part of this is having one of my first long term, positive romantic relationships be ended by the other person, and having difficulty untangling desires for romance from desires for that specific relationship.
I wish I could say that it gets better, but, well, it's not a coincidence that I've been more or less single since, four years later. the feeling of attraction might fade, but breakups in general can be hard, especially when you've bonded so closely with someone. I hope you fare better in this, and am sending you digital support in the meanwhile.

Greetings, traveler!
I'm Mal, as you can see in my blog bio. There's some more bullet-points about me on the appropriately-named page if you care to see it, but the basics are that I'm queer in several ways, neurodivergent, a writer, and I have a cat. And I'm currently obsessed/fixated on Skyrim.
I don't care what you ship, if you're an asshole about it I'll block you. If it's something I personally find distasteful, I'll probably just not interact. There are some exceptions, such as if I think your writing is good and you happen to write a ship I don't prefer, I may still read it. It'll vary.
I stream on Twitch and Youtube sometimes. I also do videos even more rarely, but I'm hoping to start recording more often.
Current Project: Ebonsong
AO3 | Wiki | Liveblogging (will contain spoilers, if you care about that)
Erlind Madieve has fled their home in High Rock in the wake of an unwanted arranged marriage and less-than-tolerant parents, only for his ship to crash just off the coast of Winterhold and leave her as the only survivor. Over the next approximately seventeen years, their travels take him all across Skyrim as they use this freedom to forge her own path. Then, a few weeks before their thirty-third birthday, a dark winged shadow passes overhead as he heads toward Helgen and in the chaos that unfolds, Erlind is set upon by an entirely different kind of pressures than she fled High Rock for.
Skyrim OCs
It's entirely likely that just about every OC on the page linked above except for Erlind will be changed and/or removed at some point, but if I make a tag for any of them, I'll keep an archive on the last tab.
[more info under the cut]
Other Skyrim/TES stuff
I play heavily modded Skyrim; relevant ones to Ebonsong will be listed in the Mod Credits section of the wiki. I've started Oblivion and I like it so far.
I tend toward the Imperials if I ever do the Civil War questline for various reasons, but I am at some point going to do a Stormcloak run just to see the differences. In a similar-ish vein, I don't usually play Thieves Guild or Dark Brotherhood, but I am going to do at least one run with them just for the experience. Same with the Volkihar side of Dawnguard.
I love hearing about lore and other people's characters, and it's really fun for me to imagine different Dovahkiin meeting. If you ever want to roleplay something like that and I follow you, lmk; I've done it a little bit with my favourite cousin who introduced me to Skyrim and it's a really interesting writing exercise.

i'm a questioning system (i'm diagnosed with PTSD-dissociative subtype so there's already an awareness that i experience memory issues and dissociation, but i'm struggling to get help to figure out possible system stuff because i live in a place with subpar mental health care) and it's so exhausting to just function daily. i'm constantly split between trying to be aware of my "alters" so that i can make things easier for them and complete denial. i'm afraid that if i have any form osddid it'll change how the people i love see me which makes talking about it even harder than it already is. i'm afraid of the concept of not being alone in my body. i'm even more afraid of the idea that my denial may be hurting other people who are just scared as (if not more scared than) me.
i would love any advice or support. i won't be responding because i don't want my main blog to be attached to this, but i will be reading and appreciating everything that anyone writes.
Disclaimer: I am not saying you are or aren’t a system (wish I knew). Nor am I qualified to give anything except advice based on personal experience. Video. This is for when you tell ppl. The channel was made by professionals watch their content for education pls.
1) If you are a system you have been a system for as long as you remember this is not a big change.
2) With our system we absolutely weren’t telling the host on purpose. No reason to believe you’re hurting anyone.
3) Our ex host was also experiencing that when they first tried this. They tried being aware of us it considerate but: they forgot all memories are in first person (you can share memories with other alters) and we were both hiding and unsure how to talk to them without alerting other people
4) We weren’t hurt by the host being in denial. Life has been better since they actually stopped doing that but we were never hurt.
5) Yes people’s view will change. Good news is if you’re a system it’s unlikely they’ve ever known you as not a system.
6) Our advice on people’s views will not be good, we moved to another city and just introduced ourselves as a system with confidence we didn’t earn, our host started fronting less. That’s how we did it.
7) Views change but not for the worse. They see you. A system is “parts” of self it’s all still you. (this is a theory on disassociation not a fact!)
8) It’s not like sharing a body with someone due to the above.
9) We did tell the people we live away from, the people we love. They all said that they were there for us and they love us and they were willing to work with whatever we said.
10) Other people make mistakes and need time to process and it is big when they’ve known you for a while but it’s not a reason not to tell people.
11) The people you love know your system even if they don't know that yet.
12) Take this with a grain of salt I’m no expert. Go to other sources. We’ve only got our experience in the bag.
I hope this helped. Really, we as a system wish you luck on your healing journey. It’s completely chill on the you cant reply thing. I don’t really expect them.
Stay tuned for the reblog where I talk about how to contact other alters! Or don’t because other people have done way better versions than us.

what is the problem w ppl charging money for stuff THEY made and that YOU DO NOT NEED TO ENJOY THE GAME IN ANY WAY and most of all THAT YOU CAN JUST IGNORE IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD IT
man idk what hole u came from but u literally just cant ignore it? aside from the fact that this issue is plastered everywhere and has been going on for years since the "conception" of sims 4, its literally saying im ignoring x even though its fucking up the culture and space of this community i actively dwell in because i wanna feign ignorance. why dont u read this post, anon, or countless other posts that circulated simblr, the community ur (clearly, hopefully) a part of? and since you've sent this question to other people as well, i want you to reread @/llazyneiph's answer.
i cant afford cc too, just like how i cant afford a lot of things in life. even early access ones and i actively use early access cc in my own personal game. but it doesnt mean i cant criticise perma paywalled cc. haven't u ever been so frustrated finding out that the one cc u wanted has been paywalled for over a year? then wow, ur lucky.
anon, i dont think its wrong to reward cc creators monetary incentive so they'd keep making cc. honestly if i had the means, i wanna support a cc creator too. i love supporting artists, but i especially love the ones who clearly love sharing and devoting time on the sims just as much as i do. dont u wanna support someone like that instead of someone who treats this game and its players as their own personal money making cow?
with that said, dont u find it greedy, anon? the entire practice screams greed. we had an entire situation about doxxing just months ago. were u sleeping under a rock when that happened or were u actively feigning ignorance on that as well?
idk anon, i dont wanna do the same and feign ignorance on such a prevalent issue in this community. it left a huge scar. even as a newcomer who has barely scratched the surface of this whole debacle, i can see and understand that its bad. not that hard to do tbh.
then again, maybe u dont treat it as a community. maybe its just a shopping space for u. and u just want to shop freely and ignore the trash all around coz yeah, u cant be bothered to at least fake solidarity with the majority who, more or less, cant afford whats in stores. i dont wanna say it but maybe its coming from my personal experience but the fact that you can ignore it really makes me think you're privileged as fuck. or im projecting. it just reeks tbh.
so I'll do u a better question: what prompted u to send this question to multiple people, small and large simblrs alike, anon? is it because you consider this as "ooo petty simblr drama"? is scamming money out of people who dont know any better not an issue worth taking notice to you? does the action of simply being informed take a huge physical, emotional, mental toll on you that you literally just cant?
sorry to break it to u, but it affects u just as much as it affects other people. maybe not now, but soon, it'll affect u. even early access creators i actively reblog from took this situation differently tbh. imagine until mods and cc alike will be banned. would u then still ignore that?

Oh here's another mod idea, this one's actually useful I think. This one's written in research entry style
Modular Belts
Belt: I can fashion a simple belt out of leather, which I can wear around my waist. Aside from being a fashion item, or perhaps holding up one's pants, I don't have much use for this yet, but I'm sure inspiration will strike soon.
Belt Uses: Now that I've devised some attachments, it would be good to take note of how to use them. Attaching a quiver, pouch, or similar to a belt is easy; crafting it with a piece of string and the belt itself of course should do the trick. I think the belt has room for six attachments, though some are bound to take up more space so I may only be able to fit less than that on. I can remove attachments by crafting the belt by itself; it'll give me the last thing I attached.
Quiver: Archery is all well and good, but having countless arrows in my pack, taking up space, feels wrong somehow. With a specially made quiver, attached to a belt, I'm able to store many arrows in a more convenient place. Takes 2 belt slots.
Pouch: After one too many experiences of having no room to carry anything else while out adventuring, and subsequently to decide what to toss, I've decided what better use for a belt than to hold a few pouches, so I can carry more things? One pouch adds 2 inventory slots to the belt. Takes 1 belt slot.
Potion holder: A predicament I find myself in often is pondering how best to manage my potions. Why didn't the idea come to me sooner? Attaching a sort of potion holder to a belt, allows me to store a vast number of one type of potion more conveniently. Takes 1 belt slot.
Weapon holster: Often, I enter combat with the denizens of night, and should they catch me off guard my weapon isn't always where I need it. I believe I have fixed this problem. By storing my weapon in a holster on my belt, I can equip it rapidly no matter what I may be holding. Takes 1 slot.

im going to cry ff7 remake rlly is just sephiroth trying to write a time travel fix it (or whatev bizarre idea he has of fixing,,,) and just. making things a burning dumpster fire. wtf man look at what u did!! u made the main group fight the emobdiement of fate or whatev! u made parallel universes?? IDKK. when i watched a playthrough of it i thought it was like. a full redo of the og game following the plot exactly and that was my first exposure to ff7. but uh ig its,,,canon divergence?? an au?? nomura rlly went what if we let sephiroth write a (dubious) fix it. like ngl i am curious to see where it'll go but. it rlly is a trip finding that out ToT.
100% there with you!!!!!!! OH MAN
So I have played 80% of the original before I played the remake, so im aware of some differences. I played 70% of the remake but have not finished yet- but I spoiled myself and watched reviews so I know there's some time travel, multiple sephiroths, some very curious things afoot and most important - the potential for the remake to have a completely new unknown story than the original.
(On a fan level I am. Mildly annoyed because I only ever wanted a very easy thing: the original with just slightly nicer models than ugly Legos, and voice acting, for a remake. That's all I wanted. And apparently the mod Echo S for computer with the original steam version of ffvii will fulfill my wish for that eventually. So like I've long accepted that this Remake is not what I wanted, but instead more like yet another new addition to the compendium extended story of new FFVII materials like Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus were. Which when I view it that way, i like it much better. But still tiny bit bitter they never just went the much easier remaster route back in the ps3 era lol. I am also as a gamer a bit annoyed they padded the Remake part 1 wirh so many long dungeon segments the original did not have, void of story moments or any additions except extra game play time, when I'd have preferred a game taking me 20 hours to 40 but wirh more story content/meaningful content per minute but that's more my personal preference).
I am. Very fascinated by whatever the fuck is going on wirh sephiroth in Remake. By the fact my boy zack may be alive my fave ff character.
By rhe fact I have a theory this sephiroth may either be pre Nibelheim sephiroth (which was a lot more like zack fair and Angelus and might even ally with cloud) or post Advent Children like, which also would be a sephiroth more self aware of Aerith and Zack Fair and Cloud and what Shinra did, what the planet wants, how he was played personally when emotional etc. Which could also end up more finding himself allied instead of a full on bad guy this time around which would be fascinating, although it would be a bigger divergence. Especially with zack fair around, and zack fairs background as a work Peer of sephiroth who actually helped him and went thru being experimented on too. His connection to cloud and sephiroth and aerith, how that could affect who would be so hostile or less hostile to who. There is a Lot of cool room for exploration. Now... do i trust square Enix to logically thoughtfully explore these cool angles they have opened themselves up to? Lol well I'm not sure I do. But there's a cool potential to be sure
Anyway like you said IT SURE IS A TRIP FINDING IT OUT and I'm still contemplating tbh. Will be contemplating more wjen I beat remake or finish watching a lets play lol
I would highly recommend the original or a lets play though. If you can tolerate the graphics and age! The remake seems to be in a way JUST as much an additional new game, as Crisis Core was a prequel or Dirge of Cerberus was a sequel. So I feel like seeing the original is some useful plot info, and I'm not entirely sure the Remake moving forward will either go back to Similar to original or diverge even more thoroughly.
I'm happy to report tifa/aerith being super close was also a thing in the original and I love that, aerith being kickass and less shy than tifa was in the original like the remake, cloud is a tiny confused man pretending to be tough in both, Barret is fairly on point, and overall i found all the characterizations fairly good in tje remake (sephiroth is somewhat different but he's clearly not following originals plot so I'm not sure where he's at in his characterization arcs lol).

I keep flip-flopping between romancing Astarion, Lae'zel, or Minthara for Raven...Minthy I wanna romance but I am like. Not going to be doing an evil playthrough. I can't kill the Tieflings without feeling horrible and it'll leave me with even LESS romance content I think. And Lae'zel I am not sure if agreeing to sleep with Astarion messed me up. But I probably won't know until I hit the Tiefling Party. So I do have plenty of time to heighten her approval as well cause she's sitting on I think 24 - 26.
I'm running the mod that lets you see what options prompt what approvals and I am honestly shocked people find it so hard to get his approval since literally getting him to 40 is so fuckin' easy.
All it really it takes tbqh is just...partial resting a lot and knowing WHEN to do so. When you recruit Gale there'll be quite a few Astarion scenes to trigger which will net you a lot of approval including the bite scene where if you tell him you trust him and then let him bite you you net 20 approval right here I believe, and then another or two after Nettie I think. You get 5 approval for telling him you'll keep him safe or you'll keep him safe if he keeps you safe after the Raphael thing, you can let him kill the Gur for 10 if you want but you actually don't need it at all. Astarion is literally the easiest to gain approval fast with in my experience, I think alongside Shadowheart? Also Gale is super easy too.
I think thus far Karlach was hardest to gain approval for me and it's partially because you miss a lot of scenes to gain her approval from unless you actively avoid the Grove and beeline for the Risen Road and then go back to it because the Zevlor and Aradin scene actually is guaranteed to trigger the moment you enter the Grove regardless if you've long rested I am pretty sure so you can I think get some approval from that and then there are several opportunities in the Grove to net her approval so long as you side with the Tieflings. Lae'zel is fairly hard to gain approval from too it seems like? I don't think I've had many scenes that grant a lot of approval with her as of yet.
