Breakfast this morning (left) Dinner last night!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Breakfast
Fried egg and Daiya vegan cheese sanwhich on wheat bread (pan toasted w olive oil)
2 clemintines
Leftover Hardy's biscuit
Dinner
1 Impossble Sausage (vegan), pieced up and pan-fried in olive oil
1 cup of white rice
3 yellow squash, sliced and steamed (seasoned with pepper, Lawry's season salt, and olive oil).
I almost made myself two sandwhiches this morning, one with egg, and one without. But i figured that would be too much for breakfast since I wasnt terribly hungy and planned to nap afterward (I didnt rip). But the biscuit that i got on a visit to my grandma's over the weekend definitely gave my breakfast more volume that made me feel fuller. That couples with plently of water to drink. The clemintimes added a nice sweet element to my breakfast and also some fruit portion that was enough for that time of day.
As for dinner last night, swell as usual with those ingredients! Cant go too wrong with yellow squash (though it is easy to over or under salt them lol. Didnt this time tho), and white rice truly goes with everything.
I made the Impossible brat last over a week! They only come 4 a pack, which is a bit pricey for how much they are (when not on sale, theyre almost $10). But tbh, its one of those things that you pay for to get the quality AND healthier, more sustainable alternative out of. Its def a treat and I figured I can make it last by piecing it apart as well as spacing out days when I plan to cook it (for instance, I decide one day I'll eat vegan, but trhe other I'll be only pescatarian and the next vegetarian). At that price I can still feel like its worth it, and the oast few times I went to the store they were on sale. So I'm def keeping lookout for those opportunities bc I love this stuff! Great umami taste and crispy sausage texture (its cute how it starts out red to resemble raw meat, but for me thats not necessary. A substitute doesnt have to evoke its original in any way except mainly flavor. I digress lol).
I enjoy cooking a lot now and will soon experiment with meal prep for days in advance, preferably up to 2 (then eventually the whole week, or at least a week of options, frozen to have ready for later). If anyone has some good meal prep regiment ideas (esp for neurodivergent folks), id appreciate u dropping them off in this post!

Omg I love the idea of cooking breakfast with the sun like that! Can you tell me what you did? How'd it come out?
I am so sorry to report that I cooked that breakfast in the oven and simply ate it outside 😭 however I’ve done more solar/outdoor cooking than the average american!! So I can give you a few leads haha. Building a DIY solar oven is something I did a few times as a teenager bc my Girl Scout troop was a really good one!! You can make a basic (read: maybe not so efficient) one out of tinfoil and a box etc. And as for outdoor cooking a coal fire and a cast iron Dutch oven allows you to have wayyyy more temperature control over what you’re cooking by adding/removing coals from the top. I also highly recommend if you’re cooking with fire to look up a three-stone cooking fire, this technique allows the pot to remain stable, unlike just throwing it on a wood fire, where the logs will shift as they are consumed by flame. Don’t give into the temptation to use bricks you find lying around though as they might have cracks/air pockets/etc that can burst and injure you with projectiles. Same goes for rocks though honestly so don’t pick like fragile ones I guess. But as far as breakfasts go you can just make a regular campfire and roast sausages on it, or you can get canned biscuits/croissants and wrap the raw dough around a stick!!! I’ve gotten really fancy (lol) and added chocolate, berries, bacon, etc. and you can cook things on a metal grate over a regular fire or chiminea as well, take a look on your local Facebook buy nothing group every once in a while and you may get lucky. Me and my friends used to try to see how impressive of a meal we could do in a cast iron over a fire. It’s so fun and your ask is making me realize I should do some more :-) and now that it’s nice out maybe I can invite some people over for a bring your own roasting shit party ? Anyways I’ve done a lot of outdoor cooking and actually I used to teach adaptable campfire cooking for ppl with a wide range of physical abilities as part of a job I had so if u have any questions or just want to share ideas or whatever hit me up haha
As for the sweet potatoes I just tossed them in berbere and olive oil and Goya’s adobo all-purpose w/ coriander and annato (the one w/ the pale orange lid haha) but you might have to go to a Latino grocery to find that one. Roasted them at like idk 375° because I like them low and slow so they’re soft rather than crispy sometimes. And then in the last 3-5 min I cracked eggs straight onto the pan BUT I forgot to dust them with herbs like I normally do to make them all beautiful like

what do you think the pogues go-to mcdonald’s orders would be? i feel like kiara would be super picky and choose something minimalistic like fries or a salad—mostly because she thinks fast food is unhealthy. and i feel like jj would order something ridiculous, he’d definitely give himself a god awful stomach ache. — concept anon
concept anon you’ve deadass made my weekend 🥲 these asks make me so happy for some reason
john b.
our man jb is pretty basic. i can see him ordering a quarter pounder with cheese, no pickles because i feel like john b hates pickles. i can literally hear his voice shouting ‘oh and no pickles!’ into the ordering thingy. if he’s not feeling that hungry then he’ll probably just order a single cheeseburger. i think he honestly prefers the fries tho.
jj.
jj def goes crazy. you know that 2 for $5 deal? best day of jj’s life when heard about it. i think jj lovesss the filet-o-fish. so i could see him getting one of those + a 10 pc nuggets. he always upgrades his fries & soda to a large, and sometimes he’ll try to slip an m&m mcflurry into his order too. john b literally loses his mind while jj orders from the passenger seat, all but sitting on jb’s lap to make sure they can hear his order. jb refuses to order for jj because his orders are so long and he’ll def change it at the last second if he feels like it
pope.
pope prefers the fries. but i think pope would actually like mcdonald’s more in the morning just for their breakfast sandwiches. i don’t think pope would be a fan of the mcgriddles, but a bacon, egg & cheese biscuit & a fruit and yogurt parfait is more his thing. pope is more of a morning person than jj & john b, so on mornings when he can get them out of the house with enough time to spare, he’ll stop at the mcdonald’s drive thru. i think pope would order a sausage mcgriddles for john b and a sausage biscuit w/ egg for jj. might order a few hashbrowns too. because no, jj, pizza doesn’t count as breakfast
kiara.
kiara has seen the documentary ‘super size me’ and brings it up every time jj whines about wanting some mcdonald’s. but if she had to eat it, she would get the salad. back when they had mcwraps, i think she’d be down to order one of those. kie likes the mango pineapple smoothie tho, she’ll probably get one almost every time they go.
sarah.
sarah still reminisces about the frozen strawberry lemonade they used to have. it reminds her of the summers of her childhood, and she misses it dearly. if she’s not that hungry, she’ll opt for a mcnugget happy meal with the small bag of apples, and she might even buy her own caramel to enjoy it to the fullest. sarah enjoys the hotcakes for breakfast, but for lunch/dinner i think sarah likes the buttermilk crispy chicken.

“The Covingtons”
Packing a couple bags for my Son & myself, I notice it's coming on 11:30am. Our flight’s schedule for 2:00pm & I've still got to pick Mary up. I get done, dress JR & load the bags in the Beamer: JR asks: ~Daddy, where we going?~
I explain: ~Well Son, Miss Covington & I are going to be married! He curiously asks: ~You mean Miss Covington's going to be my Mommy? I ask him :~Is that okay with you Son?~ He replies: ~Sure Daddy, I love Miss Covington! But where we going? I explain: ~We're going to visit Miss Covington's Mommy & Daddy!~ He replies: ~Oh, okay Daddy!~ We drive to Mary's house & arrive at 12:15pm. Mary's waiting at the door. She's wearing a yellow Sundress, Red Ruby earrings & Black w/White Strap High heels. I kiss her & say: ~We've not much time!~ I take her bag, & off to the Airport we are! By the time we get to the Airport, through security & check our bags; it's time to board the plane.
We depart on time & land at Raleigh-Durham International on schedule! We pick our bags up & hale a Cab!He asks: ~Where too Sir?~ I give him the location! He replies: ~Very well Sir!~ It's about a 40 minute drive to her Parents house. We arrive at about 5:00pm. I pay the Cabbie tip him & grab our bags. Her parents are standing on the steps, looking very happy to see their daughter:
Mary introduces us: ~Dad, Mom, this is Harold!~ I shake her Father's hand (William Covington) & say: ~Pleased to meet you Sir.~He replies: ~Nice to meet you to young man!~ Next I extend my hand to her Mother (Laura Covington) & say: ~Pleased to meet you Mam!~But instead of shaking my hand, she opens her arms & hugs me & says: ~So happy to have you hear young man!~ Mary adds: ~And this is John Ross!~Her Mother observes: ~What a charming child. He's so cute. How you doing Son?~ He replies: ~Fine Mam, are you Miss Covington's Mommy?~ She replies: ~Well yes I am! Polite young man, isn't he?~ Her asks ~You like Ice cream young man?~ ~Yes Sir!~ JR replies! Her Father says: ~Then come on, I have a whole freezer full just for you!~ JR Reacts: ~Really?~Yeaaaa!~ We go inside the house & have a seat in the Living room.
Her Father's a Professor at The University of North Carolina & her Mother's a Nurse at Duke Raleigh Hospital. The wall is covered with pictures of Mary. Many of her awards & Trophies line the shelves. Her parents are proud of her! I would be too, she was & is quite impressive!
7:00pm
Mrs Covington invites us into the Dining room. She's prepared a meal of Pot Roast, potatoes, Corn on the Cob, Fresh Baked bread, Sweet Tea & Apple pie topped with Vanilla Ice cream for dessert! A Traditional Southern meal & delicious if I say so myself!
After we eat, her Father & I retire to the Living room, Mary & her Mother clears the table & proceed to do dishes. JR. goes into the Den to watch TV. I take this time & plead my case! ~Sir, I would like to to ask you for your Daughter's hand in Marriage? I love her beyond my own life, & want nothing more than to take care of her from this time forward! I promise you to hold, to have, to honor & keep her unto death do we part!~ He looks at me, stands up, lights a pipe and answers: ~Harold, how can I ever say no? Yes, you have my blessings. Just please take care of my baby? She's an only child & all we've got!~ I say: ~Yes Sir, you have my word! Thank you Sir!~ Mary & her Mother walk into the room, look at us & they both simultaneously ask: What? William says: ~Laura, this young man has just asked for our daughter's hand in Marriage & I've given him my blessings~ Mary's Mother's eyes open wide, she raises her eyebrows & says: ~I think that's just wonderful! Congratulations both of you, I'm so happy for you!~ Her Father pulls out a bottle of Brandy he's been saving for a special occasion & says: ~Let's have a warm one & celebrate?~ It's 10:00pm & I ask: Has anyone seen JR.? Mary answers: ~Yes Harry, he fell asleep on the couch in the Den; so I took him upstairs & put him in my bed. He can sleep with me tonight!~
(Mary has already given me fair warning, that we'll have to stay in separate rooms.) I reply: ~Very well Darling, if he bothers you, l'll take him in with me! My Son is quite taken with Mary I announce, he loves her very much; as do I!~ We go to bed at Midnight. I look in on JR. & kiss Mary Goodnight & say: ~Darling, I love you beyond my own life, sleep well my Darling!~
Mary replies: ~I love you so much Harry. You sleep good too!~ I go to the Guest room, say a prayer of thanks & go to sleep.
6:00am
Saturday morning I'm up early. I smell coffee! My nose guides me to the kitchen to find Mary's Mother making Breakfast:
She says:- ~Good morning Harold, sleep well?~
I reply: ~Yes Mam & Good morning to you, that smells delicious!~ She says: ~Sit down & have some coffee! Sausage & eggs are on the stove, Biscuits are in the oven! Breakfast will be done shortly!~ She pours me a cup of coffee & asks: Cream, or Sugar? No Mam, thanks, I like it black I reply! She notes: ~Just like my Bill!~ Mary & J.R. comes into the kitchen: Mary says: ~Good morning Mom, Good morning Harry, I'm starved!~ JR ads: ~Me too, I'm starving!~ -Laura asks: ~John Ross, how do you like your eggs young Man? JR ~Crambold please?~ he replies! I correct him: Scram-bold! J R ~SsssCrambold he says! Mary says: ~Let him be, Harry, I use to have that problem myself~ She smiles at me & winks: I reply: ~Come to think of it, so did I~ Laura mentions: ~Mr Covington had to go to the University today, he'll be back later~ Mary & I spend the day touring Raleigh & all her favorite places. We stop & eat lunch in the local Cafe & after, head back & arrive at her parents house, by 5:00pm.
We wash up for dinner: Laura announces: ~Dinner's on the table, get it while it's hot.~
We come downstairs & into the Dining room. JR is already sitting at the table. The rest of us take a seat. Mary’s Mother asks: ~Harry, What time are you kids leaving tomorrow?~ I reply ~Our flight leaves at 9:30am Mam. William requests ~Let me drive you to the Airport you two?~ Mary smiles & winks.~Thank you Sir, I'd be most obliged I reply.~
Sunday 6:00am
We wake up early & eat Breakfast. Say our Goodbyes. Mary says: ~Mom, I love you so much. It was really nice to see the old Homestead again. Laura replies: ~Mary, Harry, hopefully we'll see you again real soon. At the Wedding!~ She winks at us. William announces: ~Okay you two, let's Boogie, don't want you to miss your flight!~ I reply: ~Yes Sir! Mary kisses her Mother Goodbye. I extend my hand to her & she come here and show me some love Harry?~ She Opens her arms & motions me to her: I say: ~Yes Mam!~ We hug & she kisses me on the cheek. With tears in her eyes she say: ~I love you both!~ We load up in her Father's LTD & he drives us to the Airport:
Mary says: ~Bye Daddy, gonna miss you!~ He hugs his Daughter, clears his throat & says: Take care of my Little girl Young Man!~ Yes Sir, I promise I reply! We shake hands & exchange goodbyes.

He's falling asleep on his feet: Mary whispers: ~Come on my Little man, time to go home!~ I can see how much she loves that boy & JR loves her. She picks him up, kisses his forehead & lays him down securely in the back seat. I run around to the passenger side, open the door for her: Mary mentions: ~Harry, you're such a Gentleman!~ She kisses me. I close the door & run around to the Driver's side. We head home! Neither of our parents are getting younger & besides, I want JR to know her parents. After all; They will become his Grandparents too! I'm thinking about bringing Julia's parents up to see him! It's been a while! I don't want him to lose touch with her parents either. They're part of him. They're also a part of my family. A connection to Julia...
I call Nancy on the way home & have her meet us at the house. We arrive & she's sitting on the steps: She greets me: ~Hi Mr Newport, how was your trip~ I reply: ~ Hi Nancy, trip was good, thanks. I brought you something~ Nancy says: ~Really Mr Newport? You didn't have to do that!~ I remark: ~There's a lot of things I don't have to do, but want to do! This is one of them! Thought you might like this~ Nancy observes: ~Almond Cocoa & Chai Spice, Thank you Mr Newport. Sounds delicious. Thank you so much for thinking of me!~ I reply: ~Don't mention it. It's my pleasure, I hope you enjoy it. JR's tired & will probably sleep a while. Thanks for coming on short notice! Nancy replies: ~That's okay Mr Newport. I love watching him!
I say: ~Thanks again, got to go, I'll be back later!
I'm back at Mary's at 6:00pm, knock & she opens the door & pulls me inside! Wraps her arms around my neck & kisses me like we've been apart for eternity! She guides me once again to the bedroom. & tells me she wants me now!!!! Arousing me right off! We make love over & over & over again: I say:
~That was nice!~ Mary agrees: ~Mmmmmh I know!~ I mention: ~Darling, I want to set a date. I love you & want to start our life together~ Mary replies: ~Me too Harry! Harry, I want to get married on my 25th Birthday! June 17, 2012. ~ I observe: ~What a wonderful idea Darling! Gives us time to make arrangements, & send out notices. I'll call my parents tomorrow with the date!~ We embrace, kiss & Make Love one more time.......:
I Note: ~It's late Darling. I need to go home so Nancy can leave. Mary says: ~I understand Harry, & I should probably get things together myself for School tomorrow!~ I dress, look at her & say: ~Darling, don't ever forget how much I love & need you? Mary replies: ~Never Harry, I will always love you! (She kisses me) Now get home & get some rest, I love you with all I am!~ I say: ~Goodnight my love, I'll call you~ I leave & drive straight home! JR is sound asleep in Nancy's arms on the couch. Nancy's asleep as well! I gently wake her up, take him from her arms & upstairs to his room. I pay Nancy & say: ~Nancy, I want you to know how much I appreciate you! You are a Princess, thank you so much!, By the way, you're invited to the wedding!~ (She smiles loudly) & replies: She says: ~Whaaaaat? Mr Newport, I'm so happy for you, do I know her?~
I reply: ~Oh yes, I'm sure you do! She's JR's Teacher!~ She Asks: ~Miss Covington? Wow! She's a very lucky woman Mr Covington, & she's very pretty. John Ross talks about her all the time........quoting JR.: I love Miss Covington..... Mr Newport, I hope you'll be very happy, you deserve it~ I reply: Thank you Nancy, Oh, by the way, Mary would like you to be the Maid of Honor?~ She answers:~Please let her know, I'd be honored! (As she's walking out the door) EEEEEW, I'm just so happy!~ I take a shower, brush my teeth & go to bed thinking about how our lives change suddenly. I pray to God & ask him to keep my child & Mary safe! I fall asleep with Mary on my mind!

I wake to the sound of someone knocking on my door! I open the door, a young man dressed in a messenger's uniform is standing there:
-Messenger- ~Western Union Sir, you have an urgent Telegram!~ I take the Telegram & tip the messenger..... I read it, (Bad News)!!!!!! Julia's Father is in the Hospital & not expected to survive! I right away call my Mother-in-law.
Rachael- ~Hello~ -Me- ~It's Harry Mom~ -Rachael answers: ~'O Honey, James has Cancer! There's nothing more they can do, it's out of control! He hasn't much time left Harry!~ I explain: ~Mom, John Ross & I will fly down in the morning, he'll want to see his Grandfather!~ Rachael replies: ~Okay Harry, I'll be expecting you, bye now! Kiss John Ross for me?~ I say: Okay Mom, we love you! Bye now!~
I call Mary & let her know what's going on, & that I'll be taking JR. to see his Grandfather in the morning! Mary answers: ~Yes, I think that's the right thing to do! When shall you return?~
I explain: ~We'll be back on Wednesday! I love you Mary!~
Mary observes~ I know Harry, I love you more!~ Next I call my parents! I let them know we set a date, then gave them the bad news! (They've become rather close) I told her we'll be flying to Shreveport in the morning, so JR can see his Grandfather! (Mother tells me she also got a Telegram) and says: ~Be safe Son & please give them our love? Kiss John Ross for us?
I reply: I will Mother. I love you & tell Father, I love him too Bye!~
Wednesday, January 17
I wake JR. up at 4:30am & get him dressed. The bags are already packed. Our flight departs at 7:30am. We leave the house at 5:00am, stop at McDonald's and buy JR. a Pancake meal & milk! We unload our bags & head for MD Anderson Cancer Center, where Reverend Marcantel’s admitted. We arrive at 4:45pm & directly to his room. JR is not sure what's going on, he sees his Grandfather hooked up to machines and breathing apparatuses! JR asks: ~What's wrong with my Papaw Daddy?~ I explain: ~He's sick Son!~ Mom's asleep in a chair next to his bed. We walk over to his bed, his eyes are open & he knows we're here: I say: ~Hello Dad, how ya doing?~ It takes all he has to smile, but he's happy we're here! I lift JR up so he can kiss his Grandfather! JR greets him: ~Hi Papaw, I miss you. I love you Papaw!~ He kisses his forehead, & I put him down! He's pouting, sad about his Papaw! My Mother-in-law opens her eyes & says: ~Harold, good to see you Son, & there you are my John Ross!~ She picks him up, kisses his cheek ,& hugs him like there's no tomorrow! She puts him down & says: ~Oh Harry, what will I do without him. I've loved him forever! We've been together since I was 16. Oh God, I love him so!~ I observe: ~I know Mom, & so does Dad!, I didn't even know he was sick~ She explains:
~It was about six months after our little girl was buried that he received his diagnoses! You know how he is Harry, he didn't want to be a burden on anybody! I think he stopped fighting it. He missed her so! They did all they could, but the Cancer was just too progressive until there were no more options. He's got maybe a couple days or less Harry!~ I say: I'm so sorry Mom, is there anything I can do?~ She states: ~Harry, you're here & John Ross is here. That's enough. I keep praying he'll be okay, but I know God is calling him home. He says he's ready to touch the face of God & to be with his little girl again!~ My Father-in-law passes on Wednesday night at 8:13pm. We've made funeral arrangements & he'll be buried on Saturday afternoon. The viewing will be that morning beginning at 8:00am at the River Park Church in Shreveport, Heavenly Gate Funeral Home Officiating. I call Mary to tell her we'll be back next Sunday. We'll be attending JR's Grandfather's funeral. We stay in Shreveport for the rest of the week..

The Funeral
My parents fly in to attend the Funeral. My Mother & Father are in Mourning for their friend!
My Father has rented a Mercedes Benz for the duration! We load up in the Escalade I rented & drive to the Church. I escort my Mother-in-law into the Church. The Reverend James Marcantel was the Pastor here & this was his Congregation!. The Church was packed (standing room only!) The viewing of the deceased has started. My Mother-in-law was first in the line for viewing, followed by myself, JR, & my parents. I lifted JR. to see & kiss his Papaw goodbye. He kisses him on the forehead, rubs his eyes & asks him to say hi to Mommy! The viewing lasts three hours & the Service is beginning,! The Reverend Ronald Toussaint is the attending Minister. We sing Amazing Grace & pray. The Lady's Choir sings favorite hymns of my Father-in-law. We didn't so much as to mourn him as we did to Celebrate his life! After the Services, the Casket is loaded in the Limousine. My Mother-in-law will ride in the second Limo to the Cemetery with Myself & JR following third & my parents next in the line of many vehicles! After the Funeral we go back to the Church, where the Ladies auxiliary has prepared food for all! We attend & Congregate, as we thank everyone for attending. We get back to the house at 8:30pm. We will be returning home tomorrow morning. Our flight leaves at 11:00am. My parents have already left! The food we ate at Church filled us up. We go to bed & get some rest before leaving early in the morning.

“Home again”

I couldn't bare to lose you too!~
I reply: ~Just don't you worry about us Mom? We'll be alright! Just take care of yourself. Call me if you need anything, I mean anything!~ She replies: ~I will Dear, Thank you.~ We leave at about 5:00am & arrived at the Airport at 8:30am. Different circumstances, JR would've had a good time!~ Mary replies: ~Harry, get some rest & I'll be there just after 6:00pm. I'm cooking dinner for you & John Ross!~ We hang up & I bathe JR.! It's been a long day & the little guy's exhausted. I take a shower & get ready to see Mary. God I missed her! 6:00pm a knock on my door. It's Mary & she's got groceries in her arms - I greet her & say: ~Hello My Darling, let me take those!~ I carry the two sacks of groceries to & place them on the Counter! She stands there for a moment to catch her breath Mary says: ~Harry, you just sit down there at the table. I 'm going to make Dinner.~ I reply: ~Sounds good Darling, I'm famished!~ Mary takes the groceries out of the sacks & begins to prepare She's cooking Southern Fried Chicken, Mashed Potatoes w/Country Gravy & Okra: I observe: ~Sure smells good Darling.~ Mary explains: ~My Mama didn't raise me not to use my talents. This is her recipe! I sure hope you like Fried Chicken?~ I reply: ~I love anything you cook Darling!~ She's finished cooking. She sets the table & calls JR for dinner & announces: ~John Ross, Dinner's on!~ JR. answers: ~Yes Mam!~ She serves JR says: ~Now you eat everything John Ross & I have something special for you after dinner!~ JR asks: ~Really Miss Covington, I'm going to eat the whole thing.... I promise! I love you Miss Covington!~ She turns to me & asks: ~Harry, you want me to serve you?~ She smiles & winks! I Note: ~No, I think I can probably handle it! This really smells good!~ -She states: ~Harry I have something extra special for you!~ We sit down & eat. Mary can cook, really cook! She with pride asks: ~Anyone for Blueberry pie?~ She pulls a pie out of a box & explains: ~I want you to know I made this fresh this morning! I know how much John Ross like pie.~ JR ~Sure do Miss Covington! Mmmmh mmmh~ She says: ~Enjoy it John Ross!~ I ask ~How'd you know I like Blueberry pie?~ She says: ~Your Mother told me that was the way to your heart!~ I say: ~Darling, usually, but you've already got my heart!~ She smiles loudly & says: ~Harry, I Love you!~ & winks at me again.... After dinner & dessert I help her clear the table & do dishes. She bathes JR, puts him to bed & hears him say his prayers. I hear them talking something over! JR asks: ~Miss Covington, can I call you Mommy? Please?~ She replies: ~I'd like that John Ross!~ JR says: ~I love you Mommy!~ She replies: ~I like the sound of that John Ross, now you go to sleep! I love you very much!~ These words touch my heart! I've come to realize just how much those two love each other! I'm Damn lucky!
She comes out of the room with tears in her eyes, but smiling & says: ~Harry, God know I love that child!~ I Reply: ~So do I My Darling, So Do I~ Now: About that something Special?~ She Smiles, grabs my hand & leads me into my room & we make love for the rest of the night!

Review of Breakfast at Goofy’s Kitchen in Disneyland Hotel
By Guy Selga Jr.
It’s the morning on your last day of your trip to Disneyland Resort. You still have several characters you need to meet so you can complete you Disney character checklist. The problem is you also need a place to stuff your face with ungodly amounts of unlimited food before you return to your soul crushing job the next day. This restaurant may be for you. Here’s my review of breakfast at Goofy’s Kitchen in Disneyland Hotel.
When you check in you will be required to pay upfront. Before the shock of $36 per adult and $21 per child can hit you, a cast member will inform you it is time to meet Goofy. He’s decked out in appropriate attire, as are the rest of the characters you will meet later (Minnie Mouse is the dessert chef, Chip & Dale are dressed as waiters, etc). Goofy thankfully doesn’t show any signs of stress and pressure of owning a busy and successful restaurant. He is as fun and playful as he would be if you met him in the parks. At some point in your meal you will be given the option of buying expensive picture packages of your meet and greet with Goofy. I noticed most people politely decline this offer, as did my group due to the $20+ charge.
Before we get to the food lets talk about the characters you’ll meet while you dine at Goofy’s Kitchen. Here’s Minnie Mouse looking fabulous.
Pluto dressed as a sous chef.
Pluto saw that a friend of mine had a Mickey Mouse hamburger backpack. He promptly shoved the entire thing in his mouth.
Chip & Dale in their waiter outfits.
After you meet Goofy, a server will show you to your seat, and tell you can immediately start eating. The buffet offers typical breakfast items, such as bacon, sausage eggs, biscuits and gravy, ham, and eggs Benedict.
There’s also a small selection of non-breakfast foods, such as fried rice, pasta, and a surprising amount of different pizzas.
The legendary Mickey Waffles.
Mickey Pancakes are available, if the waffles aren’t your thing.
Here’s the peanut butter and jelly pizza. It’s arguably the most popular item at Goofy’s Kitchen. Most online reviews will mention it and cast members will hype it up. Kids go crazy for this stuff. If you’re a peanut butter fan then this is for you.
The children’s section, which is where you’ll find the Mickey waffles and pancakes mentioned above, also has french toast, macaroni and cheese, chicken nuggets, and everyone’s favorite breakfast item, hot dogs.
The stand out item, in my opinion, is the custom made omelets. It’s quick and delicious, and there is a large amount of ingredients you can choose from. My egg white, jalapeno, spinach, and olive omelet. It was made perfectly, delicious and fluffy.
A nice selection at the salad bar.
I have no idea why anyone would pay $36 to eat cereal, but it’s there if you want it.
And now the most important part of any breakfast, desserts! There is a staggering amount of desserts at Goofy’s Kitchen.  All kinds of cakes, cookies, brownies, puddings, and more. A unique item I wanted to point out here was the oatmeal creme brulee, which I enjoyed. It looks like a standard creme brulee but then under the crust, and mixed in to the creme is oatmeal. I’ve never heard of that before.
The best dessert by far was the Monkey Bread. Seriously it was unbelievable. Imagine the best part of a cinnamon roll, the middle, but then none of the rest of it. They’re warm, gooey, and I ate at least 20 of them. One of our readers told me that they like to add some soft serve ice cream (which is also available at Goofy’s Kitchen) on top of them. Give that person the Nobel prize. Why didn’t I think of that?
So, how is the food? Overall it’s middle of the road. There are very few standout items (the omelet station, and peanut butter and jelly pizza), but on the flip side there’s hardly any items that are outright bad (I’d put the bland scrambled eggs, and the flimsy see-through bacon in this category). Most selections fall in the somewhere in the middle. I would say dessert lovers (of which I am) will really enjoy breakfast at Goofy’s Kitchen thanks to the large variety, but how many dessert are you going to eat during breakfast? If you or someone in your party cares about characters, Goofy’s Kitchen will be beyond worth the asking price. Characters visit tables frequently, interacting with each person, and stopping for as many photos and autographs as everyone wants. You simply can not get this amount of interaction in the park without dedicating hours of your time to meeting characters. I like the idea of doing Goofy’s Kitchen (or any other character meal) early in your trip, meeting a bunch of characters during the meal, and then spending your in-park time to do as many rides as you can.
Have you dined at Goofy’s Kitchen? Is it worth it? How’d  you like the food? Let me know in the comments below.

Who knows about some biscuits and sausage gravy? People from round here definitely do. I had to figure out a way to make cream gravy gluten free and low carb and I have done it. This meal weighs in at 🌟7g Net Carbs per serving and makes 4 Servings Biscuits and Gravy w a Fried Egg Biscuits: 1 Stick Butter 4 oz Cream Cheese 2 Eggs 1 C Macadamia Nut Flour 2 Tbsp Psyllium Husk Powder 2 Tbsp Ground Flaxseed 1/4 tsp Sea Salt 1 tsp Baking Powder Melt butter and soften cream cheese together in a microwave safe bowl. Add remaining ingredients and stir well. Divide into 4 and form into rounds on a greased, parchment lined baking sheet. Refrigerate for 15 minutes. Then, bake at 400° for 15-20 minutes. Gravy: 1 Lb Breakfast Sausage 1 C Bone Broth 1/2 C Heavy Cream 1/2 Tbsp Psyllium Husk Powder 1 tsp Ground Pepper 1/4 tsp Sea Salt Brown the crumbled sausage in a large saute pan. Sprinkle Psyllium husk Powder over meat and cook for about 5 minutes continuously stirring. Add broth and cream and stir over medium high heat until it starts to thicken. Add salt and pepper and stir until desired thickness is achieved. Eggs: Add 2 Tbsp Butter to a separate saute pan over medium high heat careful to not brown the butter. Crack eggs gently into melted butter and cook on both sides about 1-2 minutes. Careful when flipping the eggs over to not break the yolk. Lay down the biscuit first, then the egg and top with gravy. #biscuitsandgravy #glutenfree #singluten #keto #lowcarb #lowcarblifestyle #recipes #mindfulness #mentalhealth #integrativemedicine #behealthybehappy #lovehopeliveeat #healthybodyhealthymind #anxiety #depression #PTSD #OCD #hoarding #bipolar #fibromyalgia #chronicpain #inflammation #antiinflammitorydiet #autoimmune https://www.instagram.com/p/CPg-BUIHnvc/?utm_medium=tumblr

Austin’s New Restaurant And Bar Openings (3) added to Google Docs
Austin’s New Restaurant And Bar Openings (3)
Keeping track of every brand new restaurant and bar in Austin is enough to make you a little dizzy. Which is why we put together this guide to all the new restaurants and bars that seem like they have the most potential. Although keep in mind, for the ones we haven’t tried, we make no promises. Go forth and be a pioneer.
We’ll be regularly updating this guide, and adding a note whenever we review a spot, or add it to our guide to the best new restaurants in Austin, the Hit List. Got any tips? Hit us up at [email protected].
July  Nicolai McCrary Austin Eastciders $$$$ 1530 Barton Springs Rd
Austin Eastciders is no stranger to the city, with a large taproom on the East Side that has fueled its residents with a variety of hard ciders for years. And now they’re expanding their Austin footprint with a restaurant on Barton Springs, featuring a full menu of sandwiches, pizzas, salads, and small shared plates. In addition to their lineup of ciders on draft, there are also a number of guest ciders, wine, and wine-based cocktails. They’re also open for breakfast, with coffee, tea, and a hearty food menu, with things like burritos, machacado, and tacos.
Raphael Brion The Backspace $$$$ 1745 West Anderson Ln
One of Austin’s first Neapolitan pizzerias recently expanded to a second location off West Anderson Lane. While the original location downtown featured a simple menu consisting mostly of wood-fired pizzas, panini, salads, beer, and wine, the new location will also serve pasta and cocktails.
Raphael Brion Bennu Coffee $$$$ 110 Jacob Fontaine Ln
Bennu Coffee started off as a popular 24/7 coffee shop on East MLK back in 2009, before later expanding into South Austin a couple of years ago. Now, they’re opening up a third location near the ACC Highland campus. The menu has the full suite of espresso-based drinks, teas, and cold brew coffee by the gallon, as well as their signature “mochas” list that feature cocoa-based beverages, with and without espresso.
Burritos, Fajitas, and 'Ritas $$$$ 419 Colorado St
The latest project by Texas celebrity-chef Tim Love is devoted to, well, burritos, fajitas, and margaritas. The restaurant is a “cloud kitchen” concept, meaning it’s a restaurant that operates purely for takeout, with no storefront, though guests will be able to pick up their meals from Love’s downtown restaurant, Lonesome Dove.
 Raphael Brion Ramen 512 $ $ $ $ Japanese ,  Ramen  in  Central Austin ,  Wooten $$$$ 8023 Burnet Rd
You might have heard about Ramen 512 and their often sold out popups - yes, the ramen was that good. But now they’ve found a permanent home, inside the new “cloud kitchen” concept Kitchen United Mix. You can order the ramen ready-to-eat, or you can cook the noodles at home, with very precise instructions.
Seoulju $$$$ 8023 Burnet Rd
The popular Korean Fried Chicken restaurant Seoulju recently expanded with a second “cloud kitchen” located in the shared Kitchen United Mix space. The menu is a bit more pared-down than their main restaurant, but still offers many of their favorites, like fried chicken, wings, kimchi, and stir-fry.
Nicolai McCrary Tumble22 $$$$ 2304 Lake Austin Blvd
Tumble22 started off as a side project by Salty Sow, but has since grown into a thing of its own, now with a recently-opened third location in the former Magnolia Street Cafe on Lake Austin Blvd. The menu features Nashville-style fried hot chicken, chicken sandwiches, and tenders, all doused in a hot spice dip that ranges from “wimpy” to “cluckin’ hot.
Nicolai McCrary Bufalina Deli $ $ $ $ Sandwiches ,  Italian  in  East Austin $$$$ 500 San Marcos St #105
Bufalina Deli is the happy result of a pizzeria and coffee shop collaboration, which might sound like an unusual combo until you realize it’s a dream-team duo of Bufalina Pizza and Wright Bros. Brew & Brew, both among the best in their categories. The deli isn’t really a new restaurant, it’s simply a fast lunch-and-dinner concept being sold out of the coffee shop’s space, featuring a variety of classic sandwiches and salads made by Bufalina, like a meatball parm hoagie or a summer tomato salad. In the morning, the Brew & Brew will continue to sell Rosen’s Bagels, before shifting to the deli concept for the afternoon. Orders can be placed online for pickup at The Brew & Brew.
 Nicolai McCrary Paperboy $ $ $ $ Sandwiches ,  Cafe/Bakery  in  East Austin $$$$ 1203 E 11th St
The incredibly popular breakfast food truck, Paperboy, recently moved into a new building near 11th and Navasota. The larger space has allowed them to expand their menu a bit to include more than just breakfast items, so now you can get things like cheeseburgers, BLTs, and falafel. Of course the breakfast menu still exists, full of toasts, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches like the ever-popular B.E.C. (bacon, egg, and cheese). They’re currently open for takeout from their sidewalk-facing pickup window, and accepting reservations for dine-in service in the restaurant or on their rooftop patio.
 Verbena $$$$ 612 West 6th St
Verbena is a new restaurant inside the recently-opened Canopy by Hilton hotel on West 6th, from the chef behind East Austin’s Juniper. The menu is mostly French and Mediterranean-inspired, with an emphasis on local, seasonal vegetables. There’s a large indoor dining area as well as a bar and lounge area that overflows into an open-air courtyard. They also have a grab-and-go coffee counter with all the typical coffee and espresso-based drinks, plus house-made pastries and breakfast sandwiches.
 Little Ola's $ $ $ $ Brunch ,  Southern  in  Campus ,  Central Austin $$$$ 1610 San Antonio St
If you’ve found yourself dreaming about Olamaie biscuits at any point in the last few months that they’ve been closed, you’ll be excited to know they’ve temporarily converted the Campus-area Southern restaurant into a biscuit-based sandwich shop called Little Ola’s. So in addition to those ever-popular off-menu biscuits, you can get them in sandwich-form and convince yourself you’re getting a more balanced meal. There’s a variety of options, from the more breakfast-forward sausage, egg, and cheese, to a deep-fried chicken thigh and honey biscuit sandwich that will make Whataburger’s Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit feel like a long-forgotten memory.
June  Nicolai McCrary Low Down Lounge $$$$ 1412 E 6th
Low Down Lounge is a new bar on East 6th (it’s the space where Brixton used to be). The bar features a retro, 1970s design, and fun drinks like the Tropical Depression made with Gosling’s dark rum, passion fruit, lemon, and sadness. We’re not entirely sure what sadness tastes like, but we’re hoping it goes well with citrus. They’re currently selling frozen mixed-drinks, cocktails, beer, and wine for takeout.
 Nicolai McCrary Palomino Coffee $$$$ 4136 E 12th St
Palomino Coffee recently opened up on the East Side, near 12th and Springdale. In addition to a standard menu of coffee and espresso-based drinks, they carry Flat Track coffee beans by-the-pound, cold-brew growlers, Veracruz tacos, and Sour Duck pastries. They have a small patio out front, and are currently open daily from 8am-2pm for takeout.
Nicolai McCrary Sazan Ramen $$$$ 6929 Airport Blvd
The highly-anticipated ramen shop Sazan recently opened for takeout and delivery in the Highland neighborhood. They had originally planned to focus solely on tori paitan - a specific type of ramen broth made from chicken bones - but instead they are offering a pared-down menu of standard or spicy paitan ramen, with a broth made from both pork and chicken bones. You can also pick up dumplings made by their neighbors at Steamies Dumplings next door.
Nicolai McCrary Try Hard Coffee $$$$ 1115 E 11th St.
Try Hard is a coffee shop that opened up in the recently-shuttered Blue Dahlia space on East 11th. The drinks menu has most of the standard coffee shop fare, and there’s also a menu of signature beverages, like a coffee cola made from coffee shrub and Big Swig sparkling water. They carry made-from-scratch pastries as well as breakfast and lunch tacos on house-made flour tortillas. Keep an eye out for their weekend specials, like this brisket & biscuits collaboration with neighboring food truck, J Leonardi’s Barbecue.
 Neighborhood Sushi $$$$ 1716 S Congress Ave,
Neighborhood Sushi is the latest opening from the folks that brought you Perla’s, Clark’s, Jeffrey’s, and nearly a dozen more restaurants in Austin. It’s a casual sushi restaurant on South Congress that also offers small Japanese-inspired plates with Texas flavors, so you can expect things like Texas sweet corn with togarashi or grilled Texas Wagyu with broiled sansho-shiro miso. They’ll also be offering a happy hour on weekdays as well as a daily omakase at the sushi bar. There’s also a small outdoor “sake garden” facing Congress where they’ll be serving a pared-down menu of small plates and drinks.
Nicolai McCrary Huckleberry $$$$ 2340 W Braker Ln
Huckleberry is a new food trailer operating out of the parking lot at Circle Brewing near the Domain. Their menu highlights Gulf Coast ingredients, focusing mostly on po-boys, seafood platters, and fried fish. They also have a rotating menu of daily specials, like Korean hot fish sandwiches, caviar fries, and ceviche.
Narrow Street 512 $$$$ 11301 Lakeline Blvd
Located in the Asian grocery superstore H-Mart, Narrow Street is a new Korean restaurant with a number of Korean soups, noodles, and barbecue dishes. They also have daily specials, like kimchi stew and spicy chicken soup.
 Nicolai McCrary Epic Poke $$$$ 6448 E Hwy 290 #A-100
The former Nancy’s Sky Garden location in Austin, near 290 and Cameron, has pivoted to a poke restaurant. The ownership hasn’t changed, so you’ll still be able to find some of your old Nancy’s favorites, like their sweet potato noodles, but now they’ll be the base for a mound of raw, marinated fish.
Nicolai McCrary Veracruz All Natural $$$$ 111 East Cesar Chavez
The latest outpost of Austin’s favorite breakfast taco mini-chain recently opened up at The Line Hotel downtown, on Congress and Cesar Chavez. Food is served from a takeout window facing the sidewalk, with tables available nearby on the hotel patio.
Nicolai McCrary Kasian Boil $$$$ 13717 N MoPac Service Rd, #250
For fans of Asian-Cajun seafood, Kasian Boil recently opened two locations, in North Austin and Cedar Park. They’re offering weekend specials, like all-you-can-eat crawfish, as well as a variety of seafood platters with shrimp, crab, and crawfish.
 Nicolai McCrary Vic & Al’s $ $ $ $ Sandwiches ,  Cajun  in  Cherrywood ,  East Austin $$$$ 2406 Manor Road
From the folks that brought you the ever-popular Italian food trailer, Patrizi’s, Vic & Al’s instead focuses on Cajun food. They’re located right across the street in the former Unit-D Pizza space on Manor Road. Currently they’re offering a pared-down takeout menu consisting of meats like fried chicken or blackened catfish, served as a po-boy, rice plate, or salad.
Turnstile Coffee, Beer and Spirits $$$$ 10025 Burnet Rd
At Turnstile, the focus is equal parts coffee, beer, and craft cocktails. They’re located near Burnet and 183, right near the Domain and the site of Austin’s future soccer stadium. Right now they’ve extended their patio onto their lawn, so there’s plenty of open-air seating. They also carry Easy Tiger pastries, for when you need a little snack to accompany your drink of choice.
Phantasma Kitchen $$$$ 3403
You probably won’t be visiting Phantasma Kitchen anytime soon, but they may be visiting you. They operate out of a commercial kitchen “somewhere in Austin” (but secretly, near South Lamar and Menchaca), selling Roman pizza as well as wings, sandwiches, and salads for delivery. There’s an option for pickup as well, but no storefront for dining in.
Sagebrush $$$$ 5500 S Congress Ave
While most music venues in Austin have closed for the time being, Sagebrush - South Austin’s newest music venue from the folks behind White Horse - has opened their doors. There’s a large indoor space and stage, as well as an outdoor stage in the building’s former parking lot. For now, all music will be on the outdoor stage and capacity will be limited.
May  Nicolai McCrary Hold Out Brewing $$$$ 1208 W 4th St
The highly anticipated Holdout Brewery from the folks that brought you Little Brother, Brew & Brew, and Better Half recently opened their doors for takeout, with a limited menu of smash burgers, hot dogs, and canned beer. They share a large outdoor patio with sister restaurant and bar, Better Half, so you’ll be able to order from both menus when operations eventually start to pick back up.
Yoru Sushi $$$$ 207 San Jacinto Blvd Ste 202
Yoru Sushi quietly opened up for business in early May to dine-in and takeout customers. Their menu focuses mostly on sushi, with a wide range of nigiri and sashimi options, including a chef’s choice omakase. There’s also a few less traditional offerings as well, like tapioca duck fat fries and sushi nachos
 Fowl Mouth $ $ $ $ South Austin $$$$ 8504 South Congress Ave
The chicken-focused food truck, Fowl Mouth, recently opened at The Far Out Lounge near Slaughter and I-35. The menu has a variety of wings and tenders, but the star of the show here appears to be the fried chicken sandwich, topped with shaved kale and jalapeño aioli. Most of the menu can be made vegan as well.
April  Nicolai McCrary The Rolling Rooster $$$$ 1104 E. 11th St
The Rolling Rooster recently opened up their second Austin location on the East Side, in the former Historic Victory Grill space. Their specialty is chicken and waffles, but there’s also a full menu of sandwiches, oxtails, wings, and fried fish and shrimp.
20Pho7Austin $$$$ 601 W Live Oak St
20Pho7 is a new food truck serving pho as well as a number of pho-inspired dishes. What exactly is a pho-inspired dish? Think pho French dip sandwiches and filet mignon pho tacos, or “phocos.” They’re located near Oltorf and South First Street.
 Raphael Brion Steamies Dumplings $ $ $ $ Chinese  in  Highland $$$$ 6929 Airport Blvd Ste 148
Steamies has been selling handmade Chinese dumplings at local farmers’ markets for a couple of years now (both frozen and cooked), and they recently opened a brick-and-mortar restaurant in the Highland neighborhood during the lockdown. For the time being, everything comes frozen with easy-to-execute cooking instructions. There are a variety of wontons, soup dumplings, barbecue pork buns, and potstickers.
Nicolai McCrary Pho MPH $$$$ 4616 Triangle Ave STE 203
Pho MPH is a new Vietnamese restaurant in the Triangle that had its grand opening just days before the city went into hibernation. They’re currently operating for dine-in and takeout, serving a variety of Vietnamese staples, like pho and banh mi, as well as poke bowls and boba tea.
Nicolai McCrary Dear Diary $$$$ 1212 Chicon Street #103
The new vegan coffee shop, Dear Diary, opened its doors for takeout and delivery in mid-April, near 12th and Chicon. Currently, they’re selling a variety of coffee beverages and plant-based pastries and sandwiches. Eventually, they aim to operate as a creative space, with abundant outlets and a communal diary.
Wanderlust Wine Company $$$$ 610 N Interstate Hwy 35
The idea at Wanderlust Winery was to open as a bar with self-serve wine on tap, though parts of that are unfortunately on hold. Instead, they’re temporarily operating as a virtual wine class with a limited selection of bottles for pickup at their storefront near I-35 and 6th St. We’re excited to see what self-service wine on tap looks like, but in the meantime we’ll keep learning about wine.
House Of Three Gorges $$$$ 8557 Research Blvd Suite 144
House of Three Gorges has been open for takeout and delivery for a couple of months, with an extensive menu of classic Sichuan dishes, ranging from popular items like chongqing chicken and beef with broccoli, to less common specialties like Sichuan fish with pickled mustard greens or Yangtze sauteed pork intestines. They’re located near 183 and Ohlen, in the same shopping center as Din Ho and Ramen Tatsu-Ya.
The following restaurants were added to our Openings Guide before the Shelter-In-Place order went into effect. As the current situation is constantly changing, we encourage you to call before visiting.
March  Raphael Brion Bummer Burrito $ $ $ $ Bar Food ,  Southwestern ,  Burritos  in  Rainey Street $$$$ 89 Rainey St
There’s a new trailer on Rainey Street from the people behind Better Half called Bummer Burrito, and it’s conveniently parked right next to their tiny all-day cafe/bar Little Brother. As you might guess from the name, the trailer serves burritos, including a breakfast burrito, and one with chili cheese Fritos and nacho cheese.
 Sip Pho Sip Pho $$$$ 512 W 29th St, Austin, TX 78705
Just north of campus, Sip Pho is a new fast-casual Vietnamese restaurant in an impressive new space with vaulted ceilings. It’s by the same people who run Pho Please on East Riverside, and they’re serving dishes like pho, bun bo hue, vermicelli bowls, and banh mi.
February  Jackie Klusmeyer The Mockingbird $$$$ 600 W 2nd St
The latest project to open in the new Austin Proper Hotel downtown - The Mockingbird - is from the people behind restaurants like June’s, Elizabeth Street Cafe, and Swedish Hill. The Mockingbird is a counter-service café serving coffee, pastries, falafel, and rotisserie chicken, a more informal counterpart to The Peacock in the hotel that opened back in January. It’s currently only open for breakfast and lunch.
 Richard Casteel Reunión 19 $$$$ 1700 E 2nd St
Reunión 19 is a new Mexican restaurant over on the East Side. The chef is from Los Angeles, and the menu reads more West-Coast-inspired than most Mexican spots in town, with dishes like aguachile, tuna tostadas, and mulitas. They’re also really committing to tacos, as you can tell from their phone number - (512) 455-TACO (8226) - and the very subtle #TACOLOVER light fixture in the dining room.
 Julia Keim LoLo $ $ $ $ Wine Bar  in  East Austin $$$$ 1504 E 6th St
LoLo is a new wine bar on East 6th St. Technically it’s Austin’s first wine bar totally dedicated to natural wine, and it’s from the people behind Hotel Vegas and Volstead Lounge. Part of the bar is a bottle shop for purchase to go, and the wine list is affordable, with glasses starting at $10 and bottles starting in the $30s. There’s a big backyard patio with picnic tables.
We checked out LoLo and added it to our Hit List.
January  Raphael Brion Taco Bronco $ $ $ $ Tacos ,  Mexican ,  Tex-Mex  in  East Austin ,  Mueller $$$$ 3220 Manor Rd
Located in the shady backyard of Batch Craft Beer & Kolaches is Taco Bronco, a new food truck from the team behind Micklethwait Craft Meats, one of the best barbecue spots in town. It’s a taco truck with a barbecue bent, so homemade corn and flour tortillas meet brisket, smoked boar sausage, carnitas, and barbacoa. Batch’s brewhouse is nearly up-and-running, and they’ve already started serving their own beers.
We checked out Taco Bronco and added it to our Hit List.
 Honest Mary’s Honest Mary’s $ $ $ $ Vegetarian ,  Vegan ,  Fast Food  in  Rosedale $$$$ 4800 Burnet Rd
The next time you need a quick thing that’s also healthy, remember there’s a new location of the fast-casual grain bowl restaurant Honest Mary’s in Central Austin (the first was out in the Arboretum). You can choose your components in a Chipotle-like method, or if you’re paralyzed by choice like some of us are, there are “signature bowls” where everything is picked out for you. Most everything is locally-sourced, and there’s cold brew, beer, wine, and kombucha, all on tap.
Bruce Malone Bouldin Acres $$$$ 2027 S Lamar Blvd

Formerly a two-acre car dealership, it’s basically an adult amusement park, with live music, two pickleball courts, and every backyard bar game imaginable, including corn hole, giant chess, giant Jenga, and giant Connect 4. It’s pet-friendly and kid-friendly.
Beerburg Brewing Company $$$$ 13476 Fitzhugh Rd
Out in the Hill Country – and literally down the road from Jester King – is the new brewery Beerburg Brewing Company. The founder used to be the head brewer at the now-shuttered Uncle Billy’s. There’s a beer hall with a full kitchen serving tacos, sandwiches, and more, as well as a fenced-in dog park.

Tenten is a sleek-looking sushi restaurant downtown from the people behind the recently-opened lounge Devil May Care. There’s also sake, cocktails, and grilled meats and vegetables.
Taqueria Guadalajara $$$$ 9207 N Lamar Blvd
After a very extensive year-long remodel, the North Lamar location of the always-busy Mexican/Tex-Mex diner Taqueria Guadalajara finally reopened. Give the Rundberg Running Man (the guy often found on the corner of Rundberg and Lamar running, rapping, and dancing) a high-five on your way out.
Little Deli & Pizzeria $$$$ 1804 Briarcliff Blvd
Little Deli, the popular Crestview pizza restaurant and sandwich shop, opened a new location in the very pizza-starved neighborhood of Windsor Park.
Rayo Landeros Hopsquad Brewing Co. $$$$ 2307 Kramer Ln
There’s a new addition to north Austin’s brewery district: Hopsquad Brewing Co. Located in a former warehouse with rollup windows up on Braker Lane, the huge brewery space is full of beer garden tables and, as a bonus, it’s super dog-friendly, inside and out. Beers on tap include Austin-themed varieties including Comtesse De Duval Saison and Dutchess of Oltorf Roggenbier. Also outside is the new food truck Tsuke Honten.
Raphael Brion Tsuke Honten $$$$ 2307 Kramer Ln
In Hopsquad Brewing Co.’s parking lot, you’ll find the food truck Tsuke Honten with Japanese-style bites. Sort of in a soft launch, they’re currently serving small dishes like garlic chicken wings, chili prawns, and short rib skewers. Soon they plan on launching an 11-course/$29 per person omakase.
 Matt Harrington The Peacock Mediterranean Grill $ $ $ $ Greek ,  Mediterranean ,  Middle Eastern ,  Turkish ,  Lebanese  in  Downtown Austin $$$$ 600 W 2nd St
The people behind June’s, Elizabeth Street Cafe, and Swedish Hill are rolling out a series of projects in the new Austin Proper Hotel downtown. Up first is The Peacock Mediterranean Grill, an all-day Israeli and Turkish-inspired restaurant and bar. There’s also Goldie’s Sunken Bar, but that’s for hotel guests only at the moment.
We checked out The Peacock and added it to our Hit List.

After drawing crowds at farmers markets all over Austin, there’s now a Julie Myrtille Bakery brick-and-mortar over in the East Austin development Springdale General. There are pastries, cookies, and macarons, as well as more lunch-y type options like croissant sandwiches and super-butter quiches. the hours are limited for now, 10am-12pm.

Most restaurants and retailers only offer free birthday stuff if you join the email list or rewards program. This isn’t always true and you can ask your restaurant host or store cashier if they offer birthday specials.
After all, how many times does the staff sing happy birthday when you go to a sit-down restaurant these days? If your answer is quite often, there’s a good chance you don’t have to join the rewards club to get a free birthday surprise.
Of course, belonging to the rewards club means a potentially more valuable birthday freebie. As a tradeoff, you’re going to receive regular emails or app notifications from the company about the latest offers and specials.
If you don’t go there on a regular basis, the birthday freebie might not be worth the hassle.
Is Purchase Necessary To Get a Birthday Freebie?
In most cases yes, you need to make a purchase to redeem your birthday coupon. You usually have to buy a meal to get your free appetizer or dessert. While some restaurants still offer free meals with no strings attached, you usually have to buy a second meal to get yours for free.
You still save money if you’re going to visit these restaurants or stores anyway, but these places of business know that free birthday gifts are an excellent way to increase business if you bring your friends and family along.
Why Are The Free Birthday Offers Different From the Description?
Variety is the spice of life. Just like you make changes in your normal routine periodically, the birthday freebies mentioned above might change without notice. Businesses change things up to get more people to join their birthday clubs by offering products you want to use.
Do Grocery Stores Have Birthday Clubs?
Your favorite grocery store might also have a birthday club that lets your children get a free treat. The grocery store might also send you free coupons and product samples as well.
The Takeaway
There are more ways to get free stuff on your birthday than you can imagine. While this list primarily focuses on national retailers and restaurants, your local mom-and-pop businesses might offer birthday freebies too.
What’s your favorite birthday freebie? Which offers have we missed?

Not to worry! If it’s not your birthday quite yet you can still grab free food when you sign up for any of these free food apps.
Can You Only Get Free Stuff On Your Birthday If You Join a Rewards Club?

Austin’s New Restaurant And Bar Openings (2) added to Google Docs
Austin’s New Restaurant And Bar Openings (2)
Keeping track of every brand new restaurant and bar in Austin is enough to make you a little dizzy. Which is why we put together this guide to all the new restaurants and bars that seem like they have the most potential. Although keep in mind, for the ones we haven’t tried, we make no promises. Go forth and be a pioneer.
We’ll be regularly updating this guide, and adding a note whenever we review a spot, or add it to our guide to the best new restaurants in Austin, the Hit List.
July  Nicolai McCrary Bufalina Deli $$$$ 500 San Marcos St #105
Little Ola's $$$$ 1610 San Antonio St
 Nicolai McCrary Vic & Al’s $$$$ 2406 Manor Road
Fowl Mouth $$$$ 8504 South Congress Ave
Down on the corner of South Lamar and Oltorf is Bouldin Acres, a beer garden with food trucks (including a new location of one of Austin’s best taco trucks, Pueblo Viejo.
 James Johnson TenTen $$$$ 501 W 6th St
We checked out The Peacock and added it to our Hit List.
december  Raphael Brion Julie Myrtille Bakery $$$$ 1023 Springdale Rd Building 1D
 Julia Keim / Giant Noise Hestia $ $ $ $ American ,  Steaks ,  Vegetarian ,  Dessert  in  Downtown Austin $$$$ 607 W 3rd St
Hestia is a new restaurant downtown from the people behind Emmer & Rye, with a menu primarily focused on stuff coming off the grill. Other than larger grilled dishes, there are also crudos and a separate snack menu with small dishes ranging from $3-$16.
We checked out Hestia and added it to our Hit List.
 Raphael Brion Franklin Barbecue’s Tacos & Coffee $ $ $ $ Tacos ,  Tex-Mex ,  BBQ  in  East Austin $$$$ 900 E 11th St
The meat whisperers over at Franklin Barbecue opened a trailer serving coffee and breakfast tacos on flour tortillas. There are options like the house-made sausage, chorizo, and the legendary brisket, chopped up and cooked on a flattop.
We checked out the trailer and put it on our Hit List.
Barbecue by John Mueller $$$$ 109 W Davilla St
Beer and barbecue are a pretty perfect combo. John Mueller of the Mueller barbecue dynasty opened up shop at Granger City Brewing Company. Order a flight of beers alongside all the smoked meats, including his epic beef ribs, and maybe most importantly, his legendary cheesy squash.
November  Julia Keim / Giant Noise Kalimotxo $ $ $ $ Spanish  in  Downtown Austin $$$$ 607 W 3rd St Suite 105
Kalimotxo is the new Spanish-inspired bar in front of Hestia from the people behind Emmer & Rye. It serves Basque-style pintxos - similar to tapas - and small plates.
We checked out Kalimotxo and put it on our Hit List.
Garrett White Central Machine Works $ $ $ $ Bar Food ,  Burgers ,  Pizza  in  East Austin $$$$ 4824 E Cesar Chavez St
Housed in a historic warehouse space, Central Machine Works is a massive new beer hall, brewery, and live music venue in East Austin. There’s also an enormous outdoor beer garden and a full bar. The menu is simple, beer-friendly food like pretzels, cheeseburgers, and pizza.
October  The Meteor The Meteor $$$$ 2110 S Congress Ave
The Meteor is a lot of things: it’s a bike shop, an all-day cafe, a Roman-style pizzeria in which you pay by the pound, and a natural wine shop, all in a charming space on South Congress.

Seattle Restaurants Selling Groceries & Meal Kits added to Google Docs
Seattle Restaurants Selling Groceries & Meal Kits
Even if you weren’t trying to avoid grocery stores right now, you’d be hard-pressed to find any that carry DIY chicken cacciatore, soba noodle soup kits, or high-quality pizza dough with fresh mozzarella. That’s part of what makes the spots on this guide so special. Restaurants all over the city have started offering kitchen essentials for delivery or pickup to help stock your fridge, from coffee and frozen dumplings to wine and meal kits. Not only will you get delicious food, but you’ll also be helping to support local restaurants when they need you most.
All restaurants featured on The Infatuation are selected by our editorial team. Seattle Restaurants Selling Groceries & Meal Kits is presented by Uber Eats. In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, supporting our local restaurant community has never been more important. Uber Eats customers can now give directly to the restaurants they love at checkout. 100% will go to the restaurant. Order now to support. See app for detail.

DeLaurenti Food & Wine $ $ $ $ Pizza ,  Cafe/Bakery ,  Italian  in  Downtown ,  Pike Place Market $$$$ 1435 1st Ave Not

Yet
This excellent Italian market (where we often stop for a prosciutto and mozzarella sandwich or a cannoli), offers same-day weekday delivery of everything in the store - from olive oil and fancy dried pasta to bars of chocolate and jars of local jam. Aside from receiving a “care package” (AKA a bunch of flour and yeast) from an out-of-town relative, some four-year aged jamón Iberico is probably the best thing you could get delivered.
Kamonegi $ $ $ $ Japanese  in  Fremont $$$$ 1054 N 39th St 9.0 /10
Seattle’s best soba is now available to boil at home, which is some of the best news we’ve heard all week. With 24-hours notice, you can order enough fresh buckwheat noodles and broth for two people. They’re also selling spicy miso ramen kits and pints of Korean tofu stew and dashi kabocha soup. For more information, check out their menu online. You can stop by to pick anything up, but keep in mind that their delivery minimum is $100 on weekdays and $120 on Friday and Saturday.
addo Ballard $$$$ 6420 24th Ave NW
Addo launched a whole separate menu called Addo Pantry - there’s a ton of variety in what they’re offering, like Italian sauces and fresh pasta, ramen broth and noodles, homemade seasonings like fennel salt, and different cooked and raw things available in bulk like smoked salmon, cooked lechoncito pork, panzanella salad, and rice. They’ll also deliver to the entire Seattle area, including the Eastside. Check out their menu here.
Willmott's Ghost $ $ $ $ Pizza ,  Italian  in  South Lake Union $$$$ 2100 6th Ave 7.0 /10
Willmott’s Ghost is still making their thick Roman-style pizzas, like margheritas topped with cold mozzarella and potato pies with Fresno chile, thyme, and feta. But they’re also doing pizza kits that come with par-baked crusts and all the toppings you need to assemble a fresh Hawaiian, sausage, or pepperoni pizza by yourself. This option is only $5 cheaper than buying a fully-cooked pie, but it’s a great idea if you want a low-maintenance kitchen project or you have kids that need more entertainment than an endless loop of Frozen 2. The kits are available for curbside pickup only, from 2-8pm on Tuesday-Friday.
Cone & Steiner $$$$ 135 S King St
This lunchtime sandwich shop in Pioneer Square also happens to be a general store with a ton of groceries and snacks for sale, most of them local (like Fuel coffee, Ellenos Greek Yogurt, Puget Sound Kombucha, Beecher’s crackers, and more). They’re open for pickup and delivery orders, and you can check them out and place your order on their website.
Canlis $ $ $ $ American ,  Experimental ,  Molecular Gastronomy  in  Queen Anne $$$$ 2576 Aurora Ave N 7.8 /10
Canlis is delivering CSA boxes every Tuesday-Friday to anywhere within Seattle city limits (except for West Seattle due to the bridge closure). The boxes contain a bunch of vegetables from various farms as well as locally-sourced meats and dairy. They change every day, but they’ll always have a selection of produce and things like whole chickens, ground beef, fresh eggs, smoked salmon, fennel salami, yogurt, and more. Order online here.

They have 13 types available from pork and fennel to chicken and seaweed, and 50 pieces only cost $26. Make sure to call ahead at 206-363-3866 to pre-order (and make sure to also clear enough room in your freezer for the huge bags of wontons).

You can stay updated on what’s in stock by checking out their Instagram.
Il Nido $ $ $ $ Pasta ,  Italian  in  West Seattle $$$$ 2717 61st Ave SW 7.3 /10
If you want to make your friends jealous during your virtual dinner party, just pick up some pasta and sauce from Il Nido. For $15, you can get a pound of fresh pasta (pappardelle, paccheri, casarecce, campanelle, creste di gallo, or mafaldine), and for an extra $20, you can choose between a few types of sauce they’re selling by the quart - like braised beef and tomato ragu, pomodoro, pesto, mushroom cream, and puttanesca. You can also buy some of their homemade focaccia, olives, parmigiano, salsa al inferno, and bottles of wine - check their Instagram for more information.
Nielsen's Pastries $ $ $ $ Cafe/Bakery ,  Dessert  in  Queen Anne $$$$ 520 2nd Ave W Not

San Fermo $ $ $ $ Italian  in  Ballard $$$$ 5341 Ballard Ave NW 8.4 /10

Check out their Instagram for more information.
Pho Bac Sup Shop $ $ $ $ Vietnamese  in  International District $$$$ 1240 S Jackson St 8.0 /10

THE SPOTS  Bea Bea's $ $ $ $ Diner  in  Burbank $$$$ 353 N Pass Ave Not
Rated
Yet
Very few mornings go by when we aren’t thinking about Bea Bea’s iconic Green Tea Monster pancakes. Luckily, this Valley staple (they have locations in Burbank and Glendale) is offering both takeout and delivery starting at 7am daily. Call (818) 846-2327 to order.
 Breakfast By Salt's Cure $ $ $ $ American  in  West Hollywood $$$$ 7494 Santa Monica Blvd 7.9 /10
Breakfast By Salt’s Cure doesn’t have a large menu, but a restaurant doesn’t need one when they serve one of the greatest breakfast dishes in LA - the OG griddle cake. Topped with whipped sea-salt butter and toasted cinnamon sugar, it’s a glorious stack of sugar and comfort, and exactly what we need during quarantine. There are plenty of other menu highlights too, like the breakfast sandwich. Available for takeout and delivery every day from 8am-2pm.
Bon Temps $ $ $ $ French  in  Arts District $$$$ 712 S Santa Fe Ave 8.4 /10
Every Saturday and Sunday, this upscale French restaurant in the Arts District does a weekend pastry sale starting at 8am. If your body and soul are in the market for some of the best baked goods in LA, we’d recommend checking it out. All orders are done in advance for curbside pick-up.
Claudine Kitchen and Bakeshop $ $ $ $ American  in  Encino $$$$ 16350 Ventura Blvd Not
Rated
Yet
Claudine is a consistent, all-day restaurant in Encino that’s offering takeout and delivery Tuesday-Sunday from 8am-6pm. They have a wide-ranging menu that features everything from malted pancakes to chilaquiles to avocado toast, so whatever you’re in the mood for this morning, Claudine’s probably has it.
 Cofax Coffee $ $ $ $ Fairfax $$$$ 440 N. Fairfax Ave. 8.1 /10
Indefinite self-isolation can really mess with your mood, but one way to make it better is to keep Cofax’s breakfast burritos in your weekly routine. They’re available daily for takeout or delivery starting at 7am, and so are frozen packs of six that you can take home for the week (or, let’s be real, the night).
 Coffee for Breakfast $ $ $ $ Latin  in  North Hollywood $$$$ 11482 Burbank Blvd 8.1 /10
Coffee For Breakfast is a tiny Venezuelan cafe in North Hollywood and one of our favorite breakfast spots in The Valley. Open at 8:30am Tuesday-Friday (8am on the weekends), every order here should include several cachapas (corn-based pancakes stuffed with combinations of meat and cheese), a few beef empanadas, and a cinnamon cafe con leche. Available for both takeout and delivery.
Gardena Bowl Coffee Shop $ $ $ $ Diner ,  Hawaiian  in  Gardena $$$$ 15707 S Vermont Ave 7.5 /10
Open every day at 9am, this coffee shop inside a Gardena bowling alley is serving their entire menu for takeout. It’s a large menu, to be sure, but you want to concentrate on the Hawaiian/Asian dishes. The kimchi bacon fried rice is excellent and we wish we were eating the Hawaiian Royal - a massive plate of eggs, rice, chashu, and Portuguese sausage - right now. Call (310) 532-0820 to order.
 HomeState $$$$ 5611 N Figueroa St #1
One of our favorite Tex-Mex spots in LA, HomeState is offering their excellent breakfast tacos, queso, and more starting at 10am Monday-Thursday and 8am Friday-Sunday. Right now, all three locations (Los Feliz, Highland Park, and Playa del Rey) are offering takeout only and ordering is done through their website.
 Huckleberry $ $ $ $ Sandwiches ,  Cafe/Bakery  in  Santa Monica $$$$ 1014 Wilshire Blvd 8.3 /10
This Santa Monica cafe has been open for a decade now, but it’s still one of our favorite breakfasts on the Westside. Open everyday from 9am-3pm, they’re offering their full menu, as well as family-style breakfast kits and pantry boxes, for takeout and delivery on most major platforms.
 John O'Groats $ $ $ $ American ,  Diner  in  Cheviot Hills ,  West LA $$$$ 10516 W Pico Blvd 7.4 /10
One of John O’Groats’ biggest selling points is being able to sit in their classic diner space on Pico and watch a restaurant full of regulars read newspapers and grumble to themselves. But since that’s not possible right now, we’ll certainly still eat their iconic biscuits at home. Open daily from 9am-3pm, call (310) 204-0692 for takeout or here for delivery.
 Jon & Vinny’s $ $ $ $ Pizza ,  Italian  in  Brentwood $$$$ 11938 San Vicente Blvd Not
Rated
Yet
While most people in this city only think of Jon & Vinny’s for dinner, you know their true secret lies in their brunch menu. Starting at 8am, their early menu is filled with highlights like the breakfast BLT, buttermilk pancakes, and polenta, as well as some pizza and pasta from the dinner menu. Available for both takeout and delivery.
Kings Road Cafe $$$$ 8361 Beverly Blvd
Kings Road’s lethally strong coffee has helped us through many hangovers, and it continues to help us through the quarantine. Available daily for takeout or delivery starting at 7am, this Beverly Grove cafe has coffee as well as a solid menu of breakfast staples ready to make your mornings (slightly) better.
Lily's Malibu $ $ $ $ Brunch  in  Malibu $$$$ 29211 Heathercliff Rd #60 Not
Rated
Yet
If you’re quarantining in Malibu, we’re very jealous of you. For obvious reasons, of course, but also because you’re close enough to pick up a breakfast burrito from Lily’s on a daily basis. Loaded with fluffy eggs, cheese, refried beans, and bacon, it’s an early morning masterpiece that’ll make the rest of your day much better, too. Takeout only.
Marco's Trattoria $ $ $ $ American  in  West Hollywood $$$$ 8200 Santa Monica Blvd 7.2 /10
Marco’s isn’t as well-known as some of Weho’s rowdier brunch spots, but when you’re looking for a solid, affordable breakfast in the neighborhood, this family-run cafe can’t be beat. Think make-your-omelettes, French toast, and giant breakfast sandwiches. Open seven days a week at 10am, both takeout and delivery available.
 Millie's Cafe $$$$ 1399 E Washington Blvd
It only takes a few Zoom Happy Hours with friends to realize that quarantine hangovers are a very real thing. And when that happens, be sure to call Millie’s. Though their Silver Lake location is temporarily closed, the Pasadena location is available for takeout from 8am-3pm and delivery from 11:30am-7pm.
 Milo And Olive $ $ $ $ Pizza ,  Pasta ,  Italian  in  Santa Monica $$$$ 2723 Wilshire Blvd. 8.3 /10
One of the most consistent pizza spots on the Westside, it goes under-the-radar that Milo And Olive is also open every day at 8am offering baked goods, pastries, and breakfast pizza. And now, they’re offering both takeout and delivery.
Nick's Cafe $ $ $ $ American  in  Chinatown $$$$ 1300 N Spring St Not
Rated

 Paramount Coffee Project $ $ $ $ Australian ,  Cafe/Bakery  in  Fairfax $$$$ 456 N Fairfax Ave 7.9 /10
LA has no shortage of Australian cafes, but Paramount remains one of our favorites. Though they’ve temporarily closed their Downtown location, the original location on Fairfax is going strong and offering both takeout (it’s a walk-up window) or delivery. If one of their Brekkie Wraps isn’t enough today, go for their $35 Brekkie Wrap Packs, which give you all the fixings and ingredients to make four at home.
 Playa Provisions $ $ $ $ American  in  Playa Del Rey $$$$ 119 Culver Blvd 7.3 /10
Open daily from 8am, this multi-concept restaurant in Playa Del Rey is offering a limited menu that’s available for both takeout and delivery. It includes coffee and tea, deli case specials, a separate kids menu, and much more. Visit their website, or call (310) 683-5019 to place your order.
Phnom Penh Noodle Shack $ $ $ $ Cambodian  in  Long Beach $$$$ 1644 Cherry Ave. 8.5 /10
When we wake up in need of pure comfort as fast as possible, you will find us ordering from Phnom Penh Noodle Shack. The family-run Cambodian restaurant in Long Beach is open from 7am-3pm Tuesday-Sunday and serves phnom penh (noodle soup made with pork bone broth), rice porridge, meat pies, and other delicious noodles. Both takeout and delivery is available.
 Superba Food + Bread $ $ $ $ American ,  Pasta ,  Cafe/Bakery  in  Venice $$$$ 1900 Lincoln Blvd 8.1 /10

 Wexler's Deli $ $ $ $ Sandwiches ,  Deli  in  Santa Monica $$$$ 616 Santa Monica Blvd 8.6 /10
Has getting out of bed during quarantine proven difficult for you? It has for us, which is why we always have Wexler’s waiting for us first thing in the morning. Their Santa Monica location is still open (all other locations have temporarily closed) and is offering delivery and takeout of their full menu starting at 7am daily.

Chicago’s Brunch Takeout & Delivery Guide added to Google Docs
Chicago’s Brunch Takeout & Delivery Guide
There’s a good chance your life used to involve weekend brunch. Maybe one with bottomless mimosas, or sugary french toasts that could have been engineered by an eight-year-old. But just because we’re in the middle of quarantine doesn’t mean you can’t have eggs benedict, pancakes, or a grain bowl to give you the necessary energy to clean your apartment with a Q-Tip for the third time this week. Plenty of restaurants across the city offer brunch for takeout and delivery. Some even serve it seven days a week, because no one even knows (or cares) what day it is anymore, anyway.
The spots Wherewithall $ $ $ $ American  in  Avondale ,  Logan Square $$$$ 3472 N Elston Ave 8.7 /10
Almost zero good has come out of the current situation. But if we were forced to come up with something positive to say, here it is: Wherewithall now makes brunch, and it’s available for carryout. The menu changes every week, but you can expect things like housemade pastries, focaccia with iberico ham and egg, and suggested wine pairings - all available for curbside pickup or delivery.
Over Easy Cafe $ $ $ $ American ,  Latin  in  Ravenswood $$$$ 4943 N Damen Ave Not
Rated
Yet
The only complaint we’ve had about Over Easy Cafe in Ravenswood is that it takes forever to get a table on the weekend. Well, turns out that’s not a problem we have to worry about anymore. Luckily, they’re offering contactless pickup - just pay online with a credit card. You’ll find dishes like pancakes, benedicts, and specials like the tiramisu french toast (with espresso mascarpone and rum caramel sauce.)
All Together Now $ $ $ $ American  in  Ukrainian Village $$$$ 2119 W Chicago Ave 7.8 /10
Seems like everywhere we look this cafe and wine shop is doing something cool during the restaurant shutdown. And on the weekends, they’re offering hand-rolled bagels. They have plain and everything, along with plain and scallion cream cheese too. And if you want, you can also get yours with trout spread, which is smoky and delicious.
 Christina Slaton Happy Camper $ $ $ $ American ,  Bar Food ,  Pizza  in  Old Town $$$$ 1209 N Wells St 7.4 /10
This pizza spot offers brunch for delivery and carryout, seven days a week. You can get a breakfast pizza with eggs, bacon, and cheese, breakfast tacos or sandwiches, and they even have Bloody Mary kits. They also have a pizza and prosecco deal, if you want to make mimosas.
Beatrix $ $ $ $ American ,  Cafe/Bakery  in  Streeterville $$$$ 671 N St. Clair Not
Rated

The Streeterville location of Beatrix is offering a $30 brunch meal for two. It includes eggs, brown sugar bacon, toast, lemon ricotta pancakes, coffee, and orange juice. It’s pickup only, and you have to order it by 8pm the night before.

Left Coast Food & Juice $ $ $ $ Cafe/Bakery  in  Lakeview $$$$ 2878 N Lincoln Ave Not

If sitting alone in your apartment with a dozen pancakes doesn’t align with your productivity goals, consider ordering from Left Coast instead. This spot has all sorts of healthy options available for takeout and delivery - like acai and grain bowls, tofu wraps, and fresh-pressed juices. So, if the last “vitamin” you had was the CBD you’ve been adding to everything, get food from here.
 Christina Slaton Baker Miller $ $ $ $ American ,  Cafe/Bakery  in  Lincoln Square ,  Ravenswood $$$$ 4655 N Lincoln Ave 8.2 /10
This is the type of bakery that makes everything from scratch, including toast and jam, biscuit sandwiches, cinnamon rolls, and other baked goods. Their weekend menu changes, but whatever they have will be delicious. Available for carryout and delivery.
Bryn Mawr Breakfast Club $ $ $ $ American  in  North Park $$$$ 3348 W Bryn Mawr Ave Not

If you’re familiar with M Henry in Andersonville, you’ll recognize much of the food at Bryn Mawr Breakfast Club in North Park. The food here is very similar - with tasty things like bread pudding french toast and salmon benedict. Available for pickup and delivery.
MingHin Cuisine $$$$ 2168 S. Archer Ave.
Minghin is our favorite dim sum spot in Chicago, and the Chinatown location has its full menu available for delivery. So, order everything, put it on your bar cart, and roll it around your living room. Ta da, you’re at brunch.
 Sandy Noto D Cuisine $ $ $ $ Chinese ,  Dim Sum  in  Lincoln Park $$$$ 2723 N Clark St 7.6 /10
This is another one of our favorite spots for dim sum. And while the menu at D Cuisine is pretty short, what they do have is delicious. You’ll find excellent pork buns, smooth and creamy steamed egg buns, shrimp dumplings, and sesame balls that are crispy on the outside and perfectly chewy inside. It’s all available for takeout and delivery.
Manny's Cafeteria & Delicatessen $ $ $ $ Deli  in  South Loop $$$$ 1141 S. Jefferson St. 8.0 /10
This classic deli is open seven days a week starting at 7am. And you can order pretty much anything you’d want for breakfast - from eggs to pancakes to cereal to fried matzah. Have it delivered, or go pick it up.
Mellow Yellow Restaurant $$$$ 1508 E 53rd St
Picture a classic breakfast spot - the kind that has a laminated menu full of pancakes, skillets, hash browns, and omelets. That’s Mellow Yellow, a Hyde Park staple that’s been around since 1976. They’re offering delivery and carryout, so you can turn your living room into an all-day diner. Except you’re responsible for making your own bottomless coffee.
Healthy Substance $ $ $ $ Mexican ,  Vegetarian ,  Vegan  in  Garfield Ridge $$$$ 6852 W. Archer Ave Not

Good news if you’re vegan and like Mexican food - Healthy Substance is offering carryout and delivery. Everything here is made in-house, from meat substitutes in things like the chorizo breakfast burrito, to the “eggs” and tortillas in the chilaquiles. Don’t forget to order a vegan pastry too.
 Sandy Noto Tiztal Cafe $ $ $ $ Mexican  in  Ravenswood ,  Uptown $$$$ 4631 N Clark St 8.1 /10
There are other things on the menu at Tiztal in Uptown, but you really just need to order their fantastic chilaquiles - made with fresh chips, chihuahua cheese, and a delicious green salsa. Available for pickup and delivery.
River Valley Farmer's Table $ $ $ $ American ,  Brunch  in  Ravenswood $$$$ 1820 W Wilson Ave Not

We’re at a point where we’d much rather be doing our grocery shopping at a specialty store like River Valley than going into the Mad Max-esque wasteland that is Jewel. So while you’re browsing online for whole bean coffee and tiny jars of jam, go ahead and order some prepared food for brunch. This spot has freshly-baked muffins, burritos, and breakfast sandwiches - and everything is available for curbside pickup and delivery.
Batter & Berries $ $ $ $ Brunch  in  Lincoln Park $$$$ 2748 N Lincoln Ave Not

The specialty at Batter and Berries in Lincoln Park is french toast - specifically the flights, which come with four different kinds (like strawberry or lemon) and vary each weekend. They also have specials (like peach cobbler) and offer collaborations with other spots, like Shawn Michelle’s in Bronzeville. Available for curbside pickup and delivery.
Chicago's Home Of Chicken & Waffles $$$$ 3947 S King Dr
Guess what you should order at Chicken And Waffles? Yes, the chicken and waffles, which is available for curbside pickup and delivery. Choose from dark or light meat, or a combination of both. And if chicken isn’t your thing, you can also opt for catfish and waffles, but combining fish with maple syrup is still pending FDA approval.
Egg-O-Holic $$$$ 833 W Chicago Ave
As the not-very-subtle name indicates, this Indian spot focuses on eggs. This means the menu is full of dishes like hard-boiled eggs with chana masala, egg bhurji, and roti filled with masali eggs and cheese. They’re open all day and available for pickup and/or delivery.
Honeybear Cafe $$$$ 7036 N Clark St
This fantastic breakfast spot in Rogers Park had the terrible luck of opening right before restaurants closed for dine-in service. But it’s still going strong, making delicious food that’s available for takeout and delivery. You can expect things like waffle sandwiches, apple butter pancakes, and biscuits and gravy.
