noel - never the muse. "always the poet, never the poetry", etc etc, he longs to be tragic and stuff. i think it fits?

some lines from little long legs also work; "i wouldn't mind rain, or to only speak solely in poetry quotes or a dance, or a ticket to france"

jane - flesh and bone. i will never shut up about her with this song istg, it fits her so well!! "i wish to live outside this hollowed head of mine, did i exist if i was only ever thoughts?" it just!!

some lines from the chapel could also fit her potentially? "i'm missing a time that i've never known" and "i remember a song, i sung along, but how did it go?" kinda give me jane vibes, idk

ricky - dress like a pirate. instinct was to say the milk carton, because. cats. but i think this works too? the whole escapism/imagining sailing away from your life thing? as well as "don't wanna spread any hate or do much plundering to ya", because he's a lover not a fighter? idk

ocean - one man circus. it's currently unreleased, but i thought the snippet here fit her well enough? (that link doesn't really work but just click through the 'wips' highlights until you see the one that says 'one man circus' at the top)

i was honestly stumped for this one tbh. the hare verse of tho i'm a tortoise could also maybe work? idk. she was the hardest lol

it's been so long since i rewatched the Unsaid Emily episode of JATP but holy, shit does it still hit so fucking hard

when luke's hiding in the bushes outside of his parents' house because he misses them- misses his mother- and regrets the way he ran off, but was too proud to apologize. and maybe too full of guilt and regret to come back before he did what he set out to do.

but he missed her and she missed him and he wrote an entire song about it and his band sang it together and im just 😭😭😭😭

maybe after his band played at the orpheum he would have gone back. maybe he could have gone back and said "look! i did it! im sorry for leaving but i did it! can i come home now?"

maybe that would have been enough to start mending the gap

maybe they would have had a chance to play more than one song, and maybe the second would have been Unsaid Emily, and maybe she would have known. maybe she would have been standing by the door waiting for him to come back.

but he dies, and the song is lost for twenty years, and his mother never knew that he was so sorry or that he even thought about her after running away, not until julie.

he gets the chance to finally say everything he always meant to say to her, he gets to see his mother read his old words and read the love in them.

im nearly sobbing from this scene again it's so fucking good. so powerful.

i dont even think glados' chassis is inherently corrupt in a way that turned wheatley instantly evil entirely against his own nature when he got plugged into it. i think he was for the narrative leading up to it a helpless nervous and self insecure little man at the mercy of much greater forces and hes the one glados is like picking up and crushing and tossing away just for funsies & then suddenly he is in control of the entire facility. as to why glados could be like that, they went and put a human personal assistants consciousness into an immortal machine against her own strong insistence and then she woke up in an immortal machine. 👍

What I'm Made Of is the most fucking genius final boss song in Sonic bc unlike the others, it’s not from Sonic's POV, it’s from Metal's- because he believes he is the real superior Sonic. From his perspective, he's the underdog protagonist fighting the seemingly invincible antagonist. He gets his own anime intro rock song like Sonic does because he’s convinced he's the real Sonic, and that Sonic is the fake (be it bc he's wholeheartedly deluded himself into thinking he's the original like in the English script or because he's deluded himself into thinking he's a perfected version of him like in the Japanese, either way he's very obviously in a psychotic breakdown and has a distorted view of reality) and the music reflects that. It’s such a fun way to have the non-diagetic parts of the game reflect the story.
