So what exactly is the Sonic warp au?

OH MY GOD ITS HAPPENING.

Hi, yes. Sonic warp is an au I started working on about a year and a half ago with a friends of mine.

The basic concept is that when Blaze uses the chaos emeralds at the end of 06 she is sent back in time, by alot. She ends up on Christmas Island and a hedgehog named Aleena finds her and fixes her up. (Blazes face got burned off) anyway, blaze Remembers what happens to Christmas island and warns Aleena of the danger, telling her to get her kids off the island. Her kids being sonia, manic, and sonic. In the og timeline sonia and manic didn't make it but now that they are, when blaze tries to go back to her reality, she can't. She ends up in the same kind of always on fire place as before but this time, she has to take care of a baby silver who litteraly doesn't know where he came from. And later, the younger version of herself. As for sonic, his life is pretty much the same bur we spliced it up with some TV show, fand dub, and spinoff lore. His adventures are familiar with a fun little twist.

It originally had a focus on just blaze and sonic but it grew far past that. There's two Blazes running around, sonics sibilings are there and being unhinged, cosmo from sonic x is there, shadow is a consistent charecter, charmy gets arrested for tax evasion, metal has t-girl swag, tikal and knuckles are besties, tails has an emo phase. Something that we did that I really like is give a bit of story with some of their parents, knuckles and his dad specifically was a cool thing that we had.

But yeah, this has been long in the making, it's got this kinda "x-men" vibe to it in how we treat the world around them. It's fun, it's weird, we spend a good chunk of the story traumatizing the charecters. It's a blast to be writing.

Sonic Mini-Comic: "A Warped Perspective"

About a week ago, I was sorta... playing around with Sonic's morality in my head (as you do) trying to gain a better understanding of his view of Eggman, freedom of choice, etc. When I came to the bit about "change"... well, there-in fell the idea for this comic :)

I always felt like Sonic's amnesia relating to the Warp Topaz in IDW would have been a lot of fun to play with if it could have been an inverse of Eggman's situation with Mr. Tinker. I.e. the Warp Topaz warps Sonic's mental state and corrupts his super form, giving us a mainline interpretation of Fleetway Super Sonic :)

Also, just a quick shout out to everyone whose followed me recently. I really appreciate it! More comic stuff to come soon!

The way it all just lined up perfectly. I'm so happy with it. I wanted to reveal it for a while.

What if I was insane again about the first thing Alpha Grim Sonic hearing when Nine creates him is his purpose—that he is Nine's friend?

Friendship as a concept in Prime is handled interestingly among its main characters. As Sonic (who thinks he knows a lot about friendship) comes to deepen his understanding of what it means to have a home/be home, I think it's safe to say his definition of friendship develops along with it. Compare this to Nine, who's learned everything he knows about "friendship" and personal relationships in general through his relationship with Sonic (at least, after his childhood of bullying).

So of course I think about Nine, who never wants to be hurt again, yet can no longer bear feeling alone (not after feeling that sense of companionship and belonging with someone else), which results in him creating a warped version of friendship for himself (one where he is surrounded by people, but people who only do whatever he wants, who have no opinions and thoughts of their own, who can't backstab him). And so I think about Alpha Grim Sonic, who is the very first robot Nine creates under this idea of frienship and companionship.

Nine is his master, and Alpha Grim Sonic is his protector, his bodyguard, his weapon

But he's also his friend.

Alpha Grim Sonic doesn’t talk back (can't even if he wanted to), but his purpose has always been clear to him: be Nine's friend. That's what he was created to be.

So I imagine Alpha Grim Sonic performing his purpose to the T at first under Nine's framework. He's Nine's friend, so he does whatever Nine commands, he never talks back or challenges authority, he protects Nine at all cost. And then, perhaps unbeknownst to Nine, he begins to shift ever so gradually. Sure, he's never insubordinate, he never offers up opinions, he still can't speak, but the lines of devotion begin to blur.

Is it in his code? Is out of a real sense of feeling?

Alpha Grim Sonic does not understand friendship, no matter whether it believes it does or not. But it's ironic to me if, despite being created under Nine's warped idea of it, the robot slowly grows their own soul, witnesses other displays of frienship and care, and drifts outside the bounds of that idea (a carefully crafted painting begins to leak out of its frame, expanding the masterpiece). They protect Nine, they do only what he commands, and yet they hate to see Nine in pain, they wish to bring Nine comfort (and so it feels good to him when Nine commands him to do such things that might bring his master comfort).

Does this make any sense? To believe that friendship means to hold one person on a pedestal, to protect them, to only listen to them, to never talk back, to never have opinions, and yet, despite believing what your creator tells you of friendship with them (your very purpose in this existence), to slowly fall further into those feelings that true care and love for another person brings, to wish to comfort someone the way one might describe a true friend would, despite not realizing any of this.

I’m in a lot of pain so I’m thinking about my nova au to stay calm (tl;dr for it is basically metal sonic makes his own sonic oc the aforementioned nova to try and infiltrate and assassinate sonic's friendgroup, immediately instead decides that they're His Now bc being treated like a person is nice, transes her gender into literally all of them, and gets into the world's most hilariously consensually toxic qpr with sonic based around eventual murder) and the robotnik family in it is so fucking funny like.

eggman's first child ended up running off with his arch nemesis for one. i mean like nova and eggman's relationship is more complicated than that they do care for each other a lot even if their relationship is strained, in a mutually very fucked up way, but seeing your daughter making out with the guy you fucking hate so much you literally created your daughter solely to kill him is not exactly the best way to learn your little robot killing machine is growing up.

outside of that, though, their relationship is such a mess it’s very funny. like, nova is still metal just like his organicsona. but that also means nova has been treated like a person and until that point metal didn’t even see himself as one bc he wasn't ever treated as having full sentience. this isn’t because eggman is a dick- i mean, he is, and that does impact their relationship, but not in this case- he legitimately did not know metal had developed free will bc metal's response to it was literally just to be perfectly obedient anyway. so he basically learnt he had a very sapient mentally ill teenager Because he saw it hanging out with team sonic (specifically, nova took a blow meant for sonic bc it refuses to let anyone else kill him, the force interrupted it's shapeshifting and transformed him back to its neo metal sonic state, it was very awkward for everyone). so like, he genuinely feels kind of bad bc like even though his whole thing of having his robots see him like a father is mostly an ego thing bc like. that means he made a mistake!

and nova's relationships with Everyone are equally very ego based so in return she sees eggman as her father to boost her ego too- bc she views him as one of the few organic beings with worth, and therefore as special. but that also means xe treats him more like a young child than a father bc of hir superiority complex xe views organic life as inherently stupid and lesser unless they’re sonic bc it’s literally programmed into hir Because xe was made by someone equally as arrogant as them. so, like, their relationship seems very strained on the surface, especially since nova spends most of their time with sonic and his friends, but they actually get along great and have a great deal of respect for each other. i mean like it’s not like nova defected he's a neutral party who’s goal is to build up sonic to his peak to prove his superiority to him when he murders him he helps eggman as much as he helps sonic and his friends depending on the circumstances. she's tolerated bc she does make sure no one dies and also bc she’s a singularity level intelligence entirely fixated on that goal she's hilariously op in the au bc the idea of the most powerful being in a setting being someone who's so obsessed over a singular thing they never actually do anything with it is very funny to me.

sage is in this au definitely made as like a second attempt by eggman to be a decent dad and Not have his child run away and become skynet in a psychotic episode at fourteen. like probably not consciously but she’s definitely sort of a replacement metal in a subconscious way. which like you might expect would lead to resentment since nova is incredibly possessive but no they get along really well. by this point metal's been living primarily as his organic oc for four years and while he's not fundamentally a different person as nova a lot of his traits present differently and one of those ways is that his sense of superiority tends to manifest less as obvious smugness but instead as treating people like they're children or pets in need of care, which isn’t, like, exactly great but it is genuine progress for the guy who murdered people for fun as a fourteen year old y’know. and that means she ends up as sort of like a mentor big sister type of figure for sage, who looks up to her a lot.

speaking of like taking on a mentor role bc they view themselves as superior, we get into shadow. who Is nova's distant cousin technically bc sonic lore is wild like metal sonic and shadow being distantly related through adoption is actual canon i was given on a silver platter by sonic team. anyway like nova ends up being very much a sort of mentor figure to shadow during his amnesia mostly bc it sees itself in him. they’re both inherently superior to those around them, they’re both very lost and alone at that point, as far as nova's concerned shadow is close enough to themselves that he's worthy of “help”. which is mostly kicking him in the shin and smugly telling him if he was a robot he wouldn’t feel pain then horribly misunderstanding literally everything going on worse than shadow would alone but it is a genuine effort at helping. so after they do have a very awkward but cordial relationship bc nova does show genuine kindness through her own very warped perspective to him but also like it is absolutely not at all helpful. (that is generally a decent description of nova's relationship with everyone she cares about, though, she fundamentally does not think the same as an organic life form and therefore attempts at empathy and kindness come off as weird and uncanny bc she's a sadistic murderbot who views being damaged as fun bc she doesn’t have a sense of touch and thinks she knows better than everyone else).

so like, tl;dr they are the most dysfunctional family in the world but like. in a funny way.

Au where starline does end up getting tails but not in the way that he planned, when they were on the rollercoaster Starline manages to convince shadow and Sonic to go handle the avalanche leaving Tails, Rouge and Starline alone. As Rouge and Tails are about to get our starline decides he’s rather have them injured or dead than for them to escape so he decides to crash the rollercoaster leaving Rouge battered and with broken bones having protected Tails in the fall because the kid hadn’t managed to get his ropes undone yet.

Starline dragged tails off and left with him. However in the crash Starline had lost the Warp Topaz leaving him without any leans of escape so he does the next best thing. He drags tails into the woods and starts hiking up the mountain with him. Starline tells tails when he wakes up that he has no other option than to continue the hike with him. Tails’ tail is broken and they’re already too far up

So tails goes with Starline up the hill. Starline has his big heavy coat and tails only has thin winter clothes, the boy hadn’t planned on being out in the snow long but how’s a thin wintercoat going to help when the temperatures dropping, they have no food and who knows how far they are from civilisation.

Meanwhile the others are trying desperately to find tails, Rouge, shadow and Sonic are the ones leading the search, sonic and shadow feel overwhelming guilt for leaving tails and rouge alone with starline while rouge feels guilty for not being able to chase after them as Tails was dragged away by starline. They find the warp topaz so they know that they’re somewhere in the mountains. Somehow thats more terrifying.

However finding two people wandering alone in the mountains (one of them with clothes that wont protect them well enough and the other could hurt them at any point) is extremely hard

Sonic And The Black Knight AU

I don’t think there’s any chance they’ll adapt any of the storybook games since I think it would be weird even for the SCU. But if I had to choose between the two storybook games I would adapt Sonic and the black knight, though it would be a loose adaptation.

Unlike the game, the world Sonic is summoned to another planet/realm instead of being sent to the story of King Authur. Think how the MCU handled Thor's world and the magic in it.

Context:

Amy has always dreamt of going on adventures with the warp rings she creates but her duties as a ring maiden prevent this. One day during her routine of creating warp rings for travelers she meets Sonic who has been summoned to her planet for a quest. Sonic asks Amy if she wants to join him on his quest, but she initially declines due to her duties and lack of confidence in her magic abilities. Sonic offers her words of reassurance and makes a promise that he’ll make sure she’ll have the most amazing adventures as long as she sticks with him.

He does this while offering one of the rings that she dropped, Amy couldn’t help but accept the offer. Sonic would later feel embarrassed that he technically proposed to Amy through earth traditions. Amy doesn’t know(she doesn’t know anything about Earth marriage proposal traditions) for now… so Sonic is taking this information to the grave if he can help it.

Bonus context:

Amy wasn’t originally from this planet. She doesn't know how she got here when she was young.

Since she grew up on this planet, she has learned and developed magical abilities. when she arrives on Earth with Sonic she takes the time to develop more defensive and offensive magical skills to aid her new friends. She develops abilities like her hammer, sixth senses, tarot magic (frontiers), and invisibility(maybe other skills too).

Amy can create as many warp rings as she wants as long as she has fresh clean water and enough energy/mana. This comes in handy since the bros have a habit of losing rings.

Once G.U.N and other foes learn of Amy’s warp ring creation ability she becomes a target. Fortunately for Amy, she is well protected by the Wachowski bros, especially Sonic.

Amy kept the warp ring sonic returned to her that day (she wears it on a necklace).

soooo what is the vagabond au what is like the concept of it how do things work

It's my fun little doll house where i can do what ever i want :) 1st chapter here It originally started as the question "what if instead of luffy it was sonic in the first episode of one piece", because i was thinking about how the theme of freedom is handled with their characters. That concept evolved into a comic and a world with a little history, which would include inspirations from treasure planet and the sonic boom lore & world. I like how mysterious sonic booms world was.

As to why it is called sonic the vagabond hedgehog? no deep reason. Sonic is a vagabond and i needed a title. He might eventually be called that but not sure yet.

The actual machimations of the world will be shown slowly, but there are a lot of sonic concepts too, like rings, loopdeloops and checkpoints too. Some things will just be background props.

The issue i'm working on right now will show off a little more of what the world is like and how things work, but mostly how eggman effects it. And I want to show off the sonic concepts, like warp rings, special zones and chaos emerald stuff in the knuckles issue if i get to that.

I was wondering, for the Chaos AU, how do you think it would spread? would it be by being around an infected for too long, bites, being near the Chaos Emerald.. ?

Whelp, here comes a big fat lore drop here!

The Master Emerald radiates a specific energy from its core and out from its surface. In brief doses, it’s fine to be around, but anything more can cause symptoms of the other stages to begin.

The energy from the Master Emerald isn’t strong, it only reaches out about a 10-15 foot radius around itself. However, the energy it creates is very alluring and addicting, it causes ones mind to be warped depending on how long they’ve been exposed to it.

Sonic got it the worst as he was the one who brought the damn thing into the town.

One can’t get affected by people who have been changed by the Master Emerald, as despite them having glowing crystals made of chaos energy growing out of them, they don’t radiate any energy out of them. If they do, it’s very minuscule.

The only way one could get affected from one of them is if they break off a crystal and shove it into a wound, causing one to skip the first three stages and immediately move on to the fourth, albeit with some slight changes in symptoms.

Most people affected by the Master Emerald usually attack to cause the most damage, as missing limbs and gaping wounds are more prone to faster and larger crystal growth. The Master Emerald favours things like that.

maybe nothing! maybe sonic is forever changed and tails will swap out his red nikes for some blue ones. maybe they'll both adapt to this very specific, insidious, and painful scar together

Together? 50/50 chance. Simply because these two won’t agree on much sjdvkddbjd. I do feel like Doleon has a higher chance of survival on his own though.

For SURE Doleon is taking the genocide/no mercy route that’s not even a question 😭😭 (/silly) Star gives me neutral route vibes? Maybe? Depends on the person, whether or not he thinks they have a reason to be spared. He’s putting way too much thought into things. Doleon wants to kill everyone lmao. So if they’re doing this together then…either one of those? Probably neutral.

Yk I want to say Doleon bc Doleon deserves to know what it feels like to be consciously and completely helpless to choose within someone else’s control. He did it to Terios through the hivemind now it’s his turn 🙏

Heyo New Tachophobia AU Just Dropped

Meet J.D. Nick, or Junior Doctor Nicholas Peterson. The assistant to Doctor Aster Starline.

Basically Tachophobia up to the point where Starline decides to turn Sonic into his personal assistant rather than just an ordinary Mobian.

And unintentionally make one of the most unhealthy mobians in existence:

Follows orders to a fault

Uses Warp Topaz pocket watch to hypnotize others. It's also used to keep him from slipping out of his own programming.

Repressed his speed. Got retractable rollerblades instead.

Addicted to coffee. Like, EXTREMELY.

The worst sleep schedule ever. Even worse than Starline's and Tails', and that's saying a LOT.

Usually does paperwork while Starline is on the field.

Has a very firey temper. You tick him off, he goes nuclear on you.

Needs glasses.

Wears makeup he does himself.

Got bangs that look snazzy. Also likes curling them.

Got manipulated into thinking Sonic is his twin brother whom he grew jealous of and chose to side with Starline to overtake him. Only to discover that Sonic the Hedgehog is "dead".

Extremely persistent. Will stop at NOTHING until he finishes his work.

Multi's Ramblings: A Warped Perspective

Given the attention my Mini-Comic has gotten and the fact that I've had people asking about a full AU and such, I thought I would collect my thoughts on it here.

As of right now, I don't have plans to make an extensive comic for A Warped Perspective as I am focused on Sonic Boom: Revisited currently (please check it out if you haven't! I plan to play around with Sonic's morality and transformations in that as well!) but will write and draw stuff for Warped as I have the inclination to do so.

This is going to be a long one, so I will be placing it all under the cut!

The Personality of Fleetway Super Sonic

I like to imagine if Fleetway Super Sonic ever did come to the mainline comics, he'd be a sort of... manifestation and release of Sonic's normally tempered rage. If Sonic is the wind, then Fleetway is a hurricane of unchallengeable and intense emotion. Even the smallest infraction on his person would result in an explosive response. He's not necessarily evil at first. After all, he's still Sonic. He still desires the same things, he's just incapable of gauging how severe his actions are.

For example:

Sonic likes destroying Badniks. He likes the rush fighting gives him, but he doesn't let himself relish in the destruction or defeat. He reaches down and offers his hand at the first sign of reluctance. Fleetway doesn't have the luxury of restraint. He's too blinded by his anger. He'd fight a rival like Knuckles or Shadow to the brink of death simply for standing in his way.

Sonic likes making jokes at the expense of his foes and rivals. He chuckles when he manages to throw someone off balance, but he's not cruel. It's all in good fun. Fleetway finds it all hysterical. The more appalled they look the better. He's seeking the same high, but is unable to get it without pushing boundaries well beyond their limit.

Fleetway would be Sonic's entire personality and morality weaponized until it looses all sense and becomes madness.

Eggman's 9th symphony

I think back to that line in IDW Issue #50 where Sonic says something to the effect of, "That's the problem with giving people a choice. You can't stop them from making the wrong ones." This line always stuck out to me because it almost seems like a prelude to a potential breaking point for Sonic. While Issue #50 comes long after the warp topaz is dealt with (for the most part), I think it makes for an interesting moral quandary to touch on with Fleetway. Eggman poisoned the world with the Metal Virus and some part of Sonic blames himself for that. Shadow and Espio's words did not help.

Now... Sonic, normally, is not one to let that type of talk keep him down for long. He always keeps moving. Live and Learn. But even as he moves on some part of him must still linger on what he could have done differently.

As Fleetway, Sonic's emotional dissonance is heightened. That ounce of doubt he has in his actions grows out of control along with all his other emotions. He's tired of giving people a choice only for them to make the wrong ones. And now? Now they don't get a choice. If they want to resist--if they want to stand in his way--FINE. But he's not holding back, anymore. For anyone. And he's gonna enjoy it.

How Does This Fit into IDW?

AKA the AU part

Note: this is just a general overview of what I personally think would be interesting to see. Feel free to speculate further!

Remember issue #30-32? So, take that plot, but instead of Sonic incidentally warping into Blaze's dimension with amnesia, he crashes back onto his planet in the middle of nowhere (some nice lake area). Strangely, he's still in his super form, but the Chaos Emeralds are nowhere to be found. Instead, the Warp Topaz, imbued with chaos energy has become entangled with Sonic's form. This would not be visibly on his person, but its energy effects are evident in his glowey bits and the red rings around Sonic's eyes (tbh I didn't think about the design connections between Fleetway and the Warp Topaz until just now, but it's weirdly there). Imagine how the Shadow Crystal in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess sinks into Link. That's the imagery I've got in my head as Sonic lays in his self-made crater, unconscious. Maybe I'll draw this initial crash eventually, idk.

I think it would be cool for Dr. Starline to find him. At first, Sonic wouldn't remember anything, falling back on the original amnesia plot. Except something about his behavior is noticeably different. He's more... prone to his negative emotions and extremely skittish for the normally laid back hedgehog. His... awareness is dialed up to 11.

Starline would take care of him for a few days to analyze the effects the Warp Topaz is having on him. He would conclude that the Warp Topaz is somehow managing to maintain Sonic's super form through latent Chaos Energy while granting Sonic the abilities of the Topaz itself. This means Sonic can create portals to warp around at will. However, it has also effected Sonic's personality, intensifying all his worse aspects. Satisfied with this version of Sonic, Starline would try to manipulate him emotionally against Eggman, conveniently playing himself out to be a victim as he explains the Metal Virus, the Zeti rampage, and all the harm Eggman caused.

But... Sonic's not stupid, he's just got amnesia. As soon as he realizes Starline is conveniently leaving out his own involvement, it's game over. He doesn't kill Starline--he says it wouldn't be any fun if he did--but he does leave him with a crippled hand before rushing out to find Eggman. Because at the end of the day he's still Sonic. He still wants to stop bad people.

From there, Sonic would tear through cities looking for Eggman, calling the attention of his friends. They'd track him down. Try to talk him; remind him of who he really is. And, oh, yes, he'd remember, eventually. He'd remember everything. There'd be a soft moment for that unescapable second--a chance. But, in the end, it doesn't change anything. And that's where the real pain is. You see, he's had time to think now. He realizes why he's been so angry even without his memories. And it's because Espio and Shadow were right. He was being too soft. Not just on Eggman, but on everyone. He can see it all now though the Warp Topaz's power. The pain and suffering Eggman's caused the world over. And not just Eggman, but the everyday people. The vagabonds like Rough and Tumble or the Zeti. All the evil in the world that just eats at his planet like its nothing but a tool to be used up. He's ashamed of how blinded he was to it all. And he can fix it, now. Nobody will disturb their peace again. They won't be allowed too.

But...

But now his friends are telling him his clarity is blindness. That everyone deserves to be able to make choices for themselves. Even if they're wrong because how else are we supposed to grow and learn?

And this angers him. His hands shake. His teeth grind. They're saying this isn't him. That Sonic wouldn't do this. Their Sonic. They think he needs to be stopped. Whatever he is.

Well, who needs them? Who needs anyone? They deserve to be stepped on if that's what they think. He's so powerful now. They can see it. Are they scared? Are they scared of him? Are they all scared? They should be. They should be terrified of what he could do. Because it's frightening. It's... It's...

Is he scared, too?

Eggman attacks with his Omega Robot. Sonic rips through it like it's nothing.

Eggman's collar is wrapped tightly around his fist. He's so close to ending it all.

But... Oh man. Why is he hesitating?

Because Eggman's not scared. He just looks... disappointed?

And Sonic's laughing now. He's laughing like a madman. He can't do it. Why can't he do it? What is this? What is this?

Sonic doubles over in pain. His chest is hurting. The Warp Topaz. It wasn't built for this. The Chaos Energy fueling it is quickly beginning to dissipate. It's going to kill him. It's killing everyone. He's...

Sonic plunges his hand into his chest. It phases through, gripping the Warp Topaz inside of him. Screaming, he pulls it out.

It clatters on the pavement as Sonic slumps over. His blue hue returns. His friends gather around, checking him over. Eggman watches from a far.

That would be the end of it, right? The hurricane. It's dissipated. Sonic's... okay. Shaken, but okay. He can think straight. He can--

We're so pathetic, you know that?

There's a voice--right in Sonic's head.

The power to right all that's wrong with the world, to stop Eggman once and for all and what do you do with it? You throw it away! Just to feel better about yourself!

You might be in control, now, but next time?

Next time, I won't let you stop us.

The voice cackles as it fades with the flow of the wind. Everyone else thinks its over now because the Warp Topaz and Sonic are separated. But Sonic knows it's power created a wound inside his heart. Who know what could tear it open, again?

Couldn't be when Sonic almost gets electrocuted to death or when there's a bunch of chaos fueled crystalline structures causing havoc, could it? :)
