By partway into season one, Ezra's afraid Kanan doesn't want to train him, because Ezra's afraid that he's too much trouble, that he's an annoyance, that he's not talented enough, so he fears Kanan doesn't want to teach him
and Kanan doesn't want to teach Ezra because even though Kanan wants to teach Ezra, Kanan worries Kanan's not a good enough teacher and fears he isn't up to the task and that he'll fail Ezra and so he feels someone else should be doing it, someone who is (in Kanan's eyes) better.
And how it's about found family bonds, more than just a jedi master and padawan thing. The Ghost crew family was already established and together when Ezra entered it, and Ezra needs them, but clinging still to the idea he doesn't because he's been on his own for a long time and guards himself, and Kanan as a father figure, Kanan doesn't realize it yet or doesn't want to acknowledge it, and Kanan's not acknowledging to himself he kinda likes being a dad.

I just realised that the look Hera and Kanan give one another after they learning Ezra got taken by Kallus in the pilot is even more worrying because they know he's force sensitive. The kid is carrying a jedi holocron! He would've been brought to the Inquisitorius if they hadn't gone back for him. Kanan knew that Jedi were brought to Mustafar to die. Zeb had no idea Ezra wasn't just some ordinary street rat and I wonder if that made him feel extra guilty once he realised.

Star Ware Rebels Bechdel Test Rewatch- 3x16 'Legacy of Mandalore'
Plot
Sabine brings the Darksaber to her mother, hoping to recruit Clan Wren to the rebel cause and unite Mandalore.
Female Characters: 2
Sabine Wren, Ursa Wren
Male Characters: 5
Kanan Jarrus, Ezra Bridger, Fenn Rau, Gar Saxon, Tristan Wren
Droid Characters: 1
Chopper
Does it pass?
Yes, this is another strong passing episode! Sabine and Ursa speak to each other throughout the episode, discussing their relationship, family, and views on the Empire. It's refreshing to get a Mother/Daughter dynamic in Star Wars for once. We have a lot of Father/Son (OT, ST), Mother/Son (PT, Andor, ST), and Father/Daughter (RO) but Sabine and Ursa are the only Mother/Daughter relationship I can think of.
This is a strong episode in general and another great Sabine-centric story. I love seeing her come into her own and prove herself as a truly powerful warrior. So much to love here.
The animation in this episode is also among my favorite in the series. The setting of Krownest is beautifully animated. I appreciate the detail of showing the footsteps in the snow.
It's also notable that this is the first episode of the series to feature Sabine but not Hera.

the ghost feeling lived in. hera telling kanan when they first met that, basically he would be lucky if he ever got to fly her ship, but now they all know how to fly it and repair it and take care of it. sabine’s room being covered in paintings and artwork; sabine having a safe space after all she went through at the imperial academy. ezra also having a consistent bed to return to every night after how many years on the streets. sabine's art spreading across the ship. posters plastered up on the walls in the common area. zeb having his favorite chair there. ezra using spare parts they had lying around the ship to build his first lightsaber. just the ghost being their home.

Reasons for why Kanan Jarrus/Caleb Dume and Flynn Rider/Eugene Fitzherbert are one and the same.
they're both brown haired men with goatees and a nose that's hard to get right (kanan's nose is hard for me to draw ok)
Both changed their names and their true loves were the first to know their true birth names
Kanan: Flynn:
Caleb Eugene
Kanan and Eugene were alone at a young age
Kanan: Eugene:
order 66 orphan
after they became these cocky scoundrels and ladies men (idk about eugene i think they implied it??)
they both met and fell in love with 18 yr old women with beautiful voices and green eyes
said women did not take any of their “charm”
ahem
Kanan and Eugene were hopelessly in love with them while Hera/Rapunzel took more time
Hera - rebels s4 says it all
Rapunzel - Eugene asking to marry her a bunch of times
These women were on a mission and Kanan (in A New Dawn) and Eugene were just along for the ride (oh but it became more)
Hera: Rapunzel:
Empire stuff lanterns
Hera and Rapunzel are both optimistic and able to see the good in others
Kanan and Eugene both left their previous ways of life to be with these women
Kanan and Eugene went on a lil adventure with Hera/Rapunzel after meeting them!
They both revealed something about themselves to Hera/Rapunzel in times of peril
Kanan - being a jedi, stopping falling catwalk front crushing Hera Eugene - his real name, when the cave was filling up with water
Kanan and Eugene both come to rescue Hera/Rapunzel when they were kidnapped and proceeded to die/almost die (close enough) oh if only Hera had magic tears
Kanan Jarrus and Eugene Fitzherbert were lost for a long time, and then they found something and someone to live for
the only difference between these two is that Kanan and Hera didn't kiss after their adventure in A New Dawn like Eugene and Rapunzel and Kanan is in Star Wars so naturally he died before he and Hera could have the happily ever after Eugene got

It makes me so emotional that Ezra can feel the Purrgil, but Kanan can't. Like, they were connected from the very beginning. [Loud screaming]
