(this is my first time writing a friends to lovers trope, pls bare with me <3) ENJOY!!!! :) 

Changbin had a crush on you–majorly– and everyone knows. How do they know? Because, he doesn’t care to hide it, and he wants you to know. You were his home screen, lock screen, top contact–after his family. Your accounts–Disney +, spotify,etc– were added on his phone, so you didn’t have to worry about going with movies, music or whatever you needed; so long as he was there. This did, however, warrant a LOT of teasing from his band mates. Changbin was constantly met with the “why haven’t you confessed yet?” Or the “jeez, down that bad, huh, bin?” from his members. He didn’t care, though, as long as he had you. And, that brings you to now.

Changbin and his members were in the practice studio, touching up routines for upcoming performances. Everyone was sitting ( or laying down), as they were taking a break. He sat on the long couch, scrolling through his phone, and texting you, before a nosy Seungmin plopped himself by his hyung, letting out a chuckle. “Hyung, you’re still texting her?Just confess already!” Seungmin spoke up, earning nods from the other members.”Yeah, bin, she feels the same! Just tell her!” Hyunjin piped in, before Jeongin giggled. “What were you texting about anyways?Your wedding?” He laughed before Changbin whined. “Yahhhhh. I was just asking how far she is from the studio. She’s bringing lunch.” He whined, going back to his phone , texting you that his band mates were teasing him again.However, you were already in the building, walking to their practice room with bags of food in your hand. Giggling, you managed to send him a text back. “Almost there, bun. I’m coming to rescue you.hehehe.” You smiled,sliding your phone into your back pocket and walking down the long hallway of various rooms.

Finally(it was only a 2 minute walk) you found their closed door, and you could hear them still teasing Changbin, other members laughing along. Carefully you pushed the door open, and were met with a giddy Changbin running toward you and 7 other men smiling. “Hi boys, I have food!” You smiled, as Changbin took a bag from your hands, setting it on the floor. You heard a chorus of “Hi Y/nnie!” and “Hi Mrs.Seo”s. Giggling you pinched Changbin on his cheek, taking a seat next to him, away from the others.”Hi, bun. You doing okay?” You smiled, reaching a hand out to run through his hair. “Mhm. They were just teasing me again, missed you though.” he smiled back, taking a bite of his food. Although you had hung out together yesterday, you couldn’t deny that you missed him too. “I missed you too, bun. Always do.” You smiled , wiping a bit of sauce from the corner of his mouth. “Are we doing anything after you finish practice?” You asked, taking another bite of your food, subconsciously scooting closer to him. Wrapping his arm around your shoulder, Changbin shrugged, “doesn’t matter to me, bunny.” He’d said, resting his cheek against the top of your head. 

You and Changbin, however, were so immersed in your bubble that you didn’t notice the other members leaving, or calling out to you.”Mrs. Seo, I’m going to the bathroom.” “Mr and Mrs. Seo, I’m going to get a drink from the vending machine, d o you want anything?” It all went over yours and Changbin’s heads. It was just the two of you. Feeling tired after eating, you had cuddled yourself into Changbin’s chest, slinging an arm over his midsection and put your legs across his lap.. “Mmmm, bun. You smell nice,” you mumbled, holding him tighter. Blushing, he pressed a light kiss on the top of your head. “Thank you, bunny. You comfy?” He whispered, rocking you back and forth lightly. Yes, you two were always affectionate, this seemed different and was definitely pulling his heart strings. Nodding against his chest, you smiled, grabbing his hand. “Mhm, you’re so cozy. I like cuddling you.” You’d said, softly smiling up at him and man…..the amount of love for you he had in his chest was going to explode. “I love you, bunny,” he said, pressing a kiss to your forehead, as you were slowly blinking, trying to stay awake. “What?” You whispered, slightly pulling back and cupping his cheeks in your hands.” N-nothing, bunny. Just take a nap,yeah?” Changbin said, with a blush creeping up his neck and ears, a pink hue tinting them. “ No no… bun, What’d you say?” You spoke up, thumbs caressing his cheeks. “I-I said I love you. Not as a friend, as a girlfriend. Bunny, it’s always been you, ever since we met and you started talking to me. You’ve had my heart and soul and mind. Geez you’re so pretty and talented and sweet and kind and loving and I love you. And–and everyone knows, the both know my family knows, Heck I think the whole knows and I’ve just been to confess because I don’t want to lose you,ever-” He’d rambled , trying to avoid your gaze. But before he could ramble any further, you leaned in pressing your lips to his. He was surprised but kissed back, one hand pulling you into his chest further and the other cradling the small of your back. A minute later, you pulled away, your forehead against his. “Oh my binnie, my sweet bun. I love you too, I always have. I’ve always been yours, always and forever.” You whispered, placing another peck to his lips. Smiling, he hugged you tightly to his chest, pressing a kiss to your hair “I love you, forever and always, my bunny.”

Too immersed in your love for one another, neither of two noticed the other boys reentering the room. The only thing that snapped you out of your love bubble was the cheering, clapping and giggling from the others. “Finally! Finallyyyyyyyy, we knew this would happen!” Chan smiled, sitting back on the floor. Han and Felix clapped.

 “Waahhh, congratulations hyung and Y/nnie!” They giggled before Jeongin and Lee Know piped up.

 “Oh my god, You did it?! You confessed?!” They smiled, patting Changbin’s knee, laughing. Hyunjin was the last to enter the room, seeing you and Changbin.

“Oh my goooood! It happened! We can plan the wedding! Wait wait, kiss kiss kiss!Does this mean we’ll get to be uncles soon?!”

You and Changbin could only giggle, pressing a kiss to each other’s lips, as the others watched, cheering you on. Sure, his band mates annoyed him, but he officially had you and your love to keep him sane–forever and always.

i can't really rationalize my solomon association with this one, listen to it on your own and see for yourself if you feel as i do. as an accidentally immortal being, solomon has been everywhere and all at once. he knows pasts, presents, even futures that have not a thing to do with him. he hasn't yearned to lose his immortality once until meeting you, desperate to hold onto you forever.

this one is less of a lyrical association and more of a feeling. something about the chords and melody line make me think of the sorcerer. especially the minor harmony in the chorus, and over all the post production of the vocals as well. the reverb has got to be either long hall or church, the way it rings in your ears unlike studio does. yes i'm insane

there is something so carnally nb!solomon about the lyrics of this song, which is why i quoted so many of them. to me, nb!solomon is terrified he has made a wrong decision in following you to the past. it terrifies him that he so quickly chose to break time just for you, no matter the consequences. no matter if he loses his immortality, becomes stuck, passes on. he has lived so many lives and yet the only one that matters anymore is the one he wants with you. goodness me solomon.

a gentle reminder that solomon is still at core a human. he has human emotions, feelings, yearnings. something about this song is so domestic and nostalgic to me, like how i imagine flicking through the pages of solomon's life would feel. its a bittersweet hug wrapped in acoustic notes.

thinking a lot about solomon before he became a sorcerer. thinking about his family, where he came from, how long gone that all is now. barbatos taking him in and raising him not out of love yet also not out of spite. i wonder a lot if he still remembers what it was like to be just human. perhaps he has forgotten by now, and time is the only one to blame. he just takes the punches with a smile and runs on.

Twice's 10th member has a crush on Ateez's Mingi

A/N: Heyyy, I'm back fr lol! Sry for taking so long to post but finally the semester ended :D I hope that my friend shanno101 that gave me this idea on Wattpad likes it! :)

The rehearsal studio buzzed with excitement as TWICE and ATEEZ prepared for their joint performance at the upcoming music awards. Among the members, there was a subtle yet undeniable tension, a melody of unspoken hearts, resonating between Y/N, the youngest member of TWICE, and Mingi, the charismatic rapper of ATEEZ. The maknae couldn't help stealing glances at Mingi when she thought no one was looking. She admired his talent, his stage presence, and the way he effortlessly commanded the attention of everyone around him. On one occasion, during a break, Y/N found herself alone in a quiet corner of the studio. Lost in her thoughts, she didn't notice Mingi approaching until he gently cleared his throat. Startled, she turned to find him standing there, a small smile playing on his lips and a blush on his cheeks as he began to talk nervously.

Mingi - Y/N, can we talk for a moment?

The girl's heart skipped a beat as she nodded, her voice barely audible. 

Y/N - Of course, Mingi.

They found solace in each other's presence as they moved away from the busy rehearsal area, finding a secluded spot outside. TWICE's sweetheart nervously played with her fingers while Mingi struggled to find the right words.

Their confession was met with a chorus of applause and cheers from their bandmates, who had been discreetly watching the heartfelt exchange. Nayeon, unable to contain her excitement, pulled her baby into a tight hug, while Hongjoong clapped Mingi on the back, congratulating him. From that moment on, Y/N and Mingi's newborn romance became an open secret within their groups. Last night, Hikaru's 9th digital single titled "黄金色の約束" was released. She first performed the song at the Mugi no Autumn Music Festival on May 12th. Lyrics: Hikaru; Composition/Arrangement: hoto-D Some thoughts: I ldon't mind it. I ike the calm vibe and the build-up to the chorus with the "chiisana" section but the chorus itself is only meh. It has a promising start but then it doesn't really do enough for me to hold my attention. Also wish she wouldn't have gone so high on some of those parts, not the most flattering I'm afraid and I don't think it fits the overall atmosphere of the song. 『Hikaru B-day LIVE 2024』 Keiko Appearance Secured

The past few weeks have been dedicated to Hikaru's latest challenge on Music Champ wherein people need to buy items and send them during the live stream in order to build up to a certain power level. The goal of this time's challenge was to secure Keiko as a special guest for Hikaru’s birthday live in July. Although Hikaru had technically already announced/confirmed her as a guest but they always have to come up with some sort of contrived reason to justify the existence of these ridiculous challenges (can you tell that I'm still not a fan of the app?) On May 22 (Wednesday), she did a collab live stream with her fellow Ambient Border cast members Yuki Sasaki and Yumi Agawa. On June 2 (Sunday) she did a special live broadcast at the Music Champ studio. It was a bit longer than her Wednesday streams and at the end she performed Kiseki. Unfortunately, both lives were blocked for screen recording. I thought we'd left that behind us but most of her recent stuff has been blocked again T_T

"Season of the Witch" is a song by Scottish singer-songwriter Donovan from his third studio album, Sunshine Superman (1966). The song is credited to Donovan, although sometime collaborator Shawn Phillips has also claimed authorship. 

"Season of the Witch" was recorded at the CBS studios in Hollywood, California, where most of Sunshine Superman was recorded.  According to Donovan, he and Phillips wanted a "rock-combo sound" for the song and chose some local musicians from the local clubs. They included Lenny Matlin on keyboards, Don Brown on lead electric guitar, Bobby Ray on bass and "Fast" Eddie Hoh on drums. Donovan played the second guitar part, as he explained in his autobiography:

I played a white Fender Telecaster Electric Guitar on "Witch," chunking down on the chord pattern, wailing a chilling chorus. A major seventh with an open G, to D 9th with a G-flat bass (Bert Jansch chord). The riff is pure feel.

In a retrospective song review for AllMusic, Lindsay Planer commented: "Few songs so perfectly reflect the dawn of the psychedelic pop era as aptly as Donovan's 'Season of the Witch' ... Both lyrically as well as musically, the languid and trippy contents project a dark foreboding atmosphere [and] a sort of sinister tale of paranoia and the paranormal". John Bush called the song "easily [one of the two] the highlights of the album ... a chugging eve-of-destruction tale"

TL;DR: I'm an emotional wreck and this is the best album I've ever heard for so many reasons.

Haegeum??? That MV??? Never wanted to quit my job and start a gang that bullied the rich and steals their money more in my life (and trust me, that's something I've wanted to do since I was like 13). Yoongi is the only rich man I'd ever let lecture me about capitalism. He can do it all day every day. This is a fucked system, but thank you for turning me on while lecturing me about it and murdering people with some dirty chopsticks 🥴

D-Day is absolutely sick, 100% exactly what I'd expect from him. How a song can go so hard and still be so poetic to me is just insane. The beat is SICKENING. The chorus? CATCHY. 10/10 song, perfect opener to the album and set's the tone for the rest that's coming in an amazing way.

HUH?! killed me. We open the song with "what the shit do you know about me" and bro? Nothing, ion know shit about fuck, but you got me all the way fucked up with that attitude. Hoseok?? THE "HUH"S EVERYWHERE?? dead. deceased. The beat? Would literally sell my soul to be able to be in the studio when that man makes anything. I went to school to be an audio engineer, I've seen the way people put music together and create these catchy ass beats and have even made a few of my own, but FUCK BRO THERE'S NOTHING BETTER THAN THIS MAN IN THE STUDIO.

^^That goes for every song, not just Huh, but I just thought that it was important for EVERYONE to know that I'd sacrifice my firstborn child just to watch this man work.

AMYGDALA had me in tears. I was literally sobbing reading the lyrics. There are no words I can say that will accurately express how I feel about this song. This song has been out for less than 24 hours and I already feel so close to it, I can't even begin to describe it. The way most of the instruments fall out in the pre-chorus just so they can all come back in the chorus for that intensity with him basically yelling the lyrics is just *chef's kiss*.

SDL Is so cute and heartbreaking at the same time. The chorus is everything, so beautiful. Talk about bitter sweet lyrics, I'm eating that shit up. His vocals are absolutely outstanding, that "I'm thinking 'bout you" is making me so delulu you have no idea.

People Pt. 2 has already been out, but man that song is gorgeous. IU's vocals are such a great contrast to Yoongi's rap, and when they harmonize I wanna start crying whY DO THEY SOUND SO GOOD??!

I'M NOT KIDDING YOU WHEN I SAY I WAS CRYING, LEGIT SOBBING THE FIRST TIME I HEARD POLAR NIGHT. The instrumental is so uniquely Yoongi, and makes you feel so much. Yoongi is one of the only artists whos music makes me feel what they feel; and this song is the best representation of that. Everytime i listen to it I have to stop myself from crying and it has nothing to do with the lyrics. I cried before I even knew what the song was about, just because that's how good of a composer and producer he is. Genuinly one of the best songs I've ever heard.

I've never had an interlude make me feel so much. He's perfected the art of making his music invoke the emotions of his listeners and there's nothing more perfect than a minute-and-a-half-long interlude with no words in it that's still able to do that. Incredible.

Snooze is honestly one of the best thing's to have ever graced this planet if i'm being 100% rn. I know I keep talking about the emotion of the music but broooo. And the Woosung feature? His voice is amazing and is already so raw and emotional and paired with this song I just cannot. The lyrics make me want to sob, which I will probably do later when I get off work. And the the reference back to So Far Away? I'm on the floor someone please hug me.

Yoongi's vocals go fucking crazy in Life Goes On. If this was my introduction to Yoongi I would 100% believe that he's a singer and has been his whole life. The pure raw talent of this man will never cease to amaze me.

In conclusion, I love Min Yoongi with my whole chest and I hope he knows how much his music helps people, because it really, really helps. I can never even fully express just how this album alone helps me, that's not even speaking about all his other solo projects and the hundreds of songs he's worked on throughout his career.

Red the song turns 13 today!

I was supposed to fly to LA after the show in Tacoma WA last night, but after talking to my brother on the phone and missing my mom and my town where I knew my way around – I got homesick and flew back to Nashville instead. It was a long flight, but I’m so happy I chose to come home. Mostly because I wrote a song on the plane on the way home called ‘Red’.

I got in at 6AM this morning, slept til 10, brought mom eggs benedict for breakfast, went and got coffee (the pumpkin spice lattes are back at Starbucks!!) and mom and I drove around talking. She showed me all the new decorating she’d done in her new house. It looks absolutely fantastic. She has scented candles burning in every room, so each part of the house smells like a new kind of heaven. In the evening I went to Nathan’s studio to record. When I played Red for him, he lost it. He absolutely freaked over the lyrics. I was so happy. As we started recording it, it got more and more awesome, with banjo and this affected vocal part that runs under the chorus going “re-e-e-e-e-d”.

I’d love to name next album red. Scott came over because I called him and he was still working at the office. He said this song takes it to the next level. He lost it over this song. My mom loves it too. It’s so different than anything we’ve done. I can’t even tell you how alive and worthwhile I feel when I’m writing a new song and I finish it and people like it. It’s the most fulfilling feeling, like getting an A+ on report card.

Muse Disc Guide - Absolution [STYLE Series #004 - Muse (August 2010)]

IN MUSIC Having established the basic structure of the ‘Muse style’ in the ‘guitar rock’ format (with piano) with their previous album, the band entered the phase of developing it with this album. In order to try something new, they entered the studio with Paul Reeve, who had been involved with Muse from the beginning, while looking for a replacement for John Leckie, who had been the main producer of the previous two albums. They recorded four songs that they described as ‘Queen-esque’, with a 32-piece orchestra and 98 layers of chorus work. The band recorded two more pieces, the lush (9/ Blackout), with a graceful mandolin sound, and (10/ Butterflies & Hurricanes), inspired by Rachmaninoff's piano concerto.

However, in the process of finishing those two songs, and with Rich Costey as producer, the band reconsidered a return to an over-the-top, yet hard-hitting sound, keeping in mind that they were a three-piece live band. In addition, the sense of crisis in the world situation at the time began to cast a shadow over both lyrics and sound, and the overall direction shifted towards a darker one. The result is a heavier, more solid, more three-dimensional album with strong contrasts between each song, and an increased scale in all aspects.

The most striking thing on first listen is the change in the drum sound, which has become tighter, heavier and more crisp. Interestingly, the guitar sound itself is more layered and complex. Based on his live experience, Matthew emphasises the expression of a single guitar playing with gusto and power, rather than layering parts to create a thicker sound on this album. Even the piano sometimes evokes the roar of a thunderclap, and in (4/ Sing for Absolution) he places metal objects on the piano strings to create that sound. With multiple climaxes, including their quintessential ‘aesthetics of excess’ (2/ Apocalypse Please), (6/ Falling Away With You) and the emotionally-charged development of Muse's verse (3/ Time Is Running Out), (8/ Hysteria), (14/ Thoughts Of A Dying Atheist), they finally achieved their first UK No.1. —Sumi Imai

2003 Hit Albums

The year 2003 was a year of unrest, partly due to the start of the war in Iraq. Many musicians expressed their opposition to the Bush administration in the USA. However, when Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks said during a London show that she was ‘ashamed of George W. Bush’, she was met with a general slap in the face from the Republican-leaning country community, which led to a furor that lasted for several years. Madonna sent an anti-war message in the video for her single of the same name from (A/ American Life), but the video was eventually taken off the air. Meanwhile, in the UK, Blur's Damon Albarn and Massive Attack's 3D [aka Robert Del Naja] launched an anti-war campaign.

In the US charts, the hip-hop/R&B groups were as strong as ever, but Outkast's (B/ Speakerboxxx/The Love Below) was the most distinctive and was highly praised even by non-hip-hop listeners. Among rock bands, (C/ Fallen) by Evanescence, a gothic metal band fronted by the red-hot Amy Lee, and (D/ Meteora) by Linkin Park, one of the biggest heavy rock hit-makers, were big hits. The latter in particular became a monster album, selling 10 million copies to date.

The male version of the UK's leading artists of 2003 was The Darkness. Their catchy hard rock sound, influenced by Queen and Aerosmith, and the friendly character of Justin Hawkins made them explode in popularity. The female version is Dido, whose album (F/ Life For Rent) stayed at number one for a total of eight weeks after taking the number one spot from Muse.

IN LYRICS Novelist/Poet Jorge Luis Borges has said many times that he could see traces of his writing slowly appearing in the real world, and as Matthew says in an interview at the time of release, the synchronisation of imagination and the real world also occurs in this album. (2/ Apocalypse Please), originally about religious fanaticism, was written before the Iraq War, but when Matthew witnessed the anti-war movement in London, which coincided with the recording, he couldn't help but juxtapose the Iraq War with the lyrical content of the song.

The coincidence of what he wrote invaded the real world in unexpected ways - which is interesting because it can also be explained by the themes depicted in (10/ Butterflies & Hurricanes). (10/ Butterflies & Hurricanes) refers to the ‘butterfly effect’, where the flapping of one butterfly's wings causes a storm in a completely different place, and it is not unnatural to replace this with the coincidence of words written in London coinciding with the Iraq War, which is a world apart in time and place. It is not unnatural. What is more, there are coincidences in which the worldview in (10/ Butterflies & Hurricanes) is not unrelated to the war. In this eerie connection, one cannot help but see the chaos dynamics on which the ‘butterfly effect’ is based.

In terms of chaotic connections, one cannot help but be reminded of Matthew's statement about the making of the album: ‘The process of giving an easy-to-understand narrative to what I feel’. The neurologist Oliver Sacks, whose work Matthew has acknowledged as an influence, said that ‘every person with a coherent identity tells himself a story about his life every moment’, which Matthew puts into practice in the tangible form of music. The chaos of love is no different, and "Falling Away With You" transposes the pain and frustration of an unresolved love affair into the vessel of a story, making us - and Matthew himself - understand the pain and frustration of it. —Kaoru Abe

Translator's Notes: I will admit, I'm about halfway through the STYLE Series magazine, and I feel as though I keep getting this feeling that the Japanese really, really loves Muse's Absolution album a lot. Of course, given that this special magazine was released back in 2010, I'm not sure how strong this bias is held until I translate Crossbeat's special book for Muse that was released in 2015.

My seasonal music highlights: winter 2024 🧣

Welcome to a new series of my silly music-blogging. Starting it because I want to regularly properly write about and describe the songs I enjoy, and to present my own candidates for the unofficial “song of the season” awards. I already started an annual fav list for albums/EPs and wanted something less major and more presentable as a little playlist, not really in particular order. Enjoy! Note that I kept the list one song per artist, most have incredible new releases outside of the ones focused on, these are just my picks for the season or my most played. And let me tell you, countless artists are dropping new music and projects left and right and I’m getting FED. This list alone is extremely abundant and we’re barely 2 full months into the year. ❅ winter again - 4s4ki

What better way to start a songs of the winter list than with THE anthem of this winter season? With her ability to not only pull off but absolutely excel at the different genres she incorporates into her music, 4s4ki simply never disappoints. She went into the studio with a mission to give the famous Last Christmas by Wham! a true successor and the mission was wonderfully accomplished. In this mellow 80s pop influenced track, she channels her inner Cocteau Twins (word to that one YouTube comment in the lyric video) while longing for a loved one that didn’t seem to stay by her side not even to have some canned coffee and bento this holiday season. Now I’m gonna channel my inner platonic delulu and say that it was released just on time, when I was discovering and especially feeling Boy Harsher’s alternative 80s inspired music (collab when?). Ironic how a self-described reverse Christmas song ended up doubling my winter spirits. She never fails to give me exactly what I need. I love this woman. (Big ups to Magic sword but as I mentioned I’m keeping the list one song per artist.)

❅ 4eva - Shygirl feat. Empress Of

You know from my username that I’ve been loving what Shygirl has had to offer for quite a while now, and 4eva was my personal post-Nymph jam ever since I heard a snippet of it back in last September and neither the full studio version nor my intuition let me down. Shygirl’s rapping and Empress Of’s verse over the Kingdom-produced delicious wobbly synths indeed stay playing on my mind. Empress Of’s feature came as a tracklist surprise and I’m more grateful for it than I had expected. The jungle drums in the chorus, and honestly the structure of the song in general were unexpected to me as well, but nevertheless they took part in forming possibly my favorite dance track of 2024. Both the Club Shy EP and 4eva have secured firm spots in my favorites of the year.

❅ Deer Teeth - Sega Bodega

Father of music, first ever man in the music industry, smash hit sorcerer, my favorite producer of all time… However you may refer to Sega Bodega, you can always rely on him to create an entire universe in one record and take you there and back. With Deer Teeth, he tells a story of a sighting of a late mother laid to rest with her child in a swan’s wings along with 200 deer teeth (hence the song title), which brings with itself a tale of hope, sacrifice and eternity. With reversed and distorted vocals, the addition of Mayah Alkhateri’s siren-like voice and obviously Sega’s otherworldly production style, the tale transforms into a cinematic masterpiece in sound form. Extra note: perfect to fall asleep to in a road trip, tried and tested. Both Deer Teeth and his newer single Set Me Free, I’m an Animal are stunning masterpieces, and I know this will make my year-end album list real predictable but SB3 is the most solid candidate for the top spot as of right now. Save me Sega Bodega, save me…

❅ Ex-Girlfriend - Erika de Casier feat. Shygirl

New slow R&B earworms drawing on different nostalgic genres couldn’t be more perfect for the chilly season, especially when they’re delivered by the one and only Erika de Casier. She has this ability to mix the best musical aspects of the near past (namely the 90s/00s) with her very own sensuality, freshness and uniqueness. Her soft vocals over a down-tempo R&B beat to match come after an orchestral, arguably dramatic intro and the melancholic, yearning yet cocky-ish tone is set. Shygirl’s deep, almost raspy voice always shines with slow, gloomy instrumentals (also seen in Lapdance from Asia by Cosha) and this track was no exception, matter of fact it’s now certainly one of my favorite features of hers. I will be returning to this song not only on the colder days of March, but the whole year, or rather until it’s wiped off existence completely.

❅ Cyberia - Meth Math

Before the quirky experimental trio’s slightly overdue, highly anticipated debut album Chupetones (go give the best b-side Pócima a listen too), they released 4 singles and I was not at all aware beforehand of the release of the third one. Pressed play, was impressed, pressed the loop button and the rest (at least 80 plays within the first week) was history. The intro immediately catches your attention, and the descriptions of a sad-looking happily-dancing angel over toot sounds, ripping synths and bonking bass transition into happy hardcore perfection. The 3-second bit before the second chorus gets me the most, it’s like a minuscule break to slow down and reflect on the all the absurdity before resuming the alien dancefloor madness. This banger completes my Meth Math song holy trinity, which is now Tambaleo-Fantasía Final-Cyberia. Add Pócima into the mix if you wanna form the four horsemen. Whatever your personal favorite may be, we can all agree that Meth Math always come at us with excellence.

❅ dOpamine - OnlyOneOf

Hallelujah. We have finally reached an era where all lyOns can live in harmony and sleep in peace instead of fighting over title tracks and new lows for the group’s flaming hot garbage record label. Even their biggest haters (so-called “fans” with a strange superiority complex) were finally praising an OnlyOneOf title track, and with how good it really is I’d be admiring their dedication to hating their own faves if they didn’t. Anyway, dOpamine is one of their best, it really is. I’ve been hoping for them to get on the drum & bass train for quite a while now, and they did it with a bright, twinkling, breakbeat-incorporating twist. They don’t lazily dip their toes into dnb and breakcore and leave it at that though, the buildups and structure of the track stay fascinating and the bridge drifts (should I intend the pun?) into their gritty industrial side before the outro closing out the song on a vocally strong, passionate but never over-the-top note. While the whole mini is exquisite, the lead single ended up being my favorite. Simply put, OnlyOneOf never fail to deliver quality K-pop against all odds.

❅ Sorbet - Kelela (LSDXOXO Remix)

The pre-release singles off of the RAVE:N remix album were all incredible just like its album tracks, however this gem is particularly lingering on me and my February mood. This spin on Sorbet encapsulates the AM club aspect of the project in one re-envisioned tune. Kelela and LSDXOXO, who produced and remixed numerous of her songs, reunite as a power duo to turn the dulcet, sedate Sorbet into a Eurodance-coded amped-up slapper that will get anyone moving. You can tell the song is DJ set opener material from when the first beat kick. The chorus melody sticks to your mind and the late night-like sonic experience becomes unforgettable. The special encounter requiring dim lighting is now set in a flashy rave scene. Completely flipped scenario yet everything makes perfect sense. All in all, Kelela’s vision for her dance records is 20/20 and LSDXOXO’s execution never leaves you hanging either.

❅ Fuetazo - Isabella Lovestory feat. Villano Antillano

Born to embody camp, forced… no, also born to be a hit maker. Isabella is undebatably one of the freshest, most outstanding figures of neoperreo and neoreggaeton, and her eccentric flare still comes through in a single as a (hopefully) pre-album snack. Fuetazo was released early into the season and closed out Isabella’s activities for the year. While the playful chorus introduces a whip that comes and goes, Villano Antillano mentions vacations and 42-inch weaves with her tone that meshes with the cheekiness of the track, and their chopped up vocal bits go back-and-forth in the outro. With the Chicken, Kamixlo and Dinamarca producer trio, the instrumentals can’t go wrong. The hard-hitting dembow drums and the lighter synths and other aspects of the song create a contrast that feels like a breeze, maybe more of a summer one even but a confidence booster gots to stay on rotation regardless of weather or temperature.

❅ Messy Room - The Deep (+ mini EP review)

Had I postponed the release of my 2023 fave project list just a little, the Messy Room EP would have at least scored an honorable mention. For those who need a quick debrief: The Deep is an independent K-alternative artist whose discography radiates coziness and sweetness. Mayhaps I should say sugar, spice and everything nice. Taking part in the production of her music, creative direction and visual curation, she ticks all the boxes for the bedroom pop star that should’ve reached her target audience ages ago. While she’s taken inspiration from R&B and indie and still does, “resurfaced” genres such as UK garage, dnb and Jersey club are fairly newer additions to her range. I love all of these genres as you could tell and I adore the songs in which she uses them (got into her through the UKG bop Muah!), but surprisingly the track that glanced at her “roots” hooked me in the most. Maybe it’s because it contains the core “messy room” atmosphere of the EP, maybe it’s her soft vocals shining brightly, maybe it’s because she has the recipe to making a tune to unwind to. I hope this praise doesn’t sound like a jab at the rest of the EP because not a single skip is detected over there. In Brand New House and BAPPI, The Deep talks about deserving the luxuries and getting to the bag over garage and house beats. bow wow is about confidence despite troubles and annoyances, while 20’s is a self-reflection on the constant search for perfection and attempts to heal. The project is most definitely worth checking out if you want a bit of calm, refreshing new music, or if you’re looking for a multi-skilled artist to support.

❆ Gold On Me: Mother ABRA is back and I’m definitely checking out Groupthink after this, now it’s time for the album innit 🍽️ (should’ve definitely written about this in more detail but maybe another time soz)

❆ 4 noviosS: While everyone came to Club Shy to play, she entered with pen and paper and a goal.

❆ Perdió Este Culo: I have to give flowers where they’re due, I wish the La Joia album had more quality of this level though. (However shoutout to Sexy, La Que No Se Mueva and Sin Carné.)

❆ TYOSTAR: Can’t tell if their music is aimed at dudebros (disgustingly irritating audience) or hyperpop girlies (slightly less irritating audience) but they scored a night ride hit either way, definitely one of Starkids’ finest to date.

She Got Away - leaked July 9

Hearing this leaked 1D track in early July was ANOTHER huge shock, because it was one of the fabled ones in 1D history, since it was a known, named collab/co-write with Ryan Tedder.

We’ve talked a few times about Ryan—singer and songwriter, also of One Republic—in the past few weeks.

Here, he talks about about being at the recording studio with both Taylor and Harry in early 2014.

And you can see in that Polaroid - he and Taylor worked on I Know Places.

Ryan’s been working with Zayn on his new music, but he had some tidbits in an early June interview in the UK.

Here he talks about working on Right Now.

A bit more about the history of working together, and another story about how Harry is the kindest ever.

Back in 2014, he teased material for Midnight Memories (one of which was the previously mentioned Right Now).

And in 2016 he again confirmed that they’d worked together in his 1D writes and some potential solo writes, saying “As long as I've known him he's been writing songs. He has a lot of material saved up.”

One of the registered Tedder-Styles tracks that was shrouded in mystery was She Got Away, registered in early 2015.

And 8ish years later—in and around July 9th, while Harry was being photographed with many people which included a different Taylor, in Vienna and Barcelona—this song leaked.

The crowd screamed as the lead singer growled.

The light threw different shades here and there, from red to purple to blue and orange.

Another deep growling joined. The chorus excitedly popped up from the hydrolic lift floor.

Now both of them held the arena's attention completely. Looking into one's eyes, they started battling their voice.

To level up the fight of dominance, the bass and drum went wild, matching their singers' energy. While the keyboard, as a backbone of this song, calmly matched the beat.

"I swear they were too much sometimes. How are they going to do the interview after this?"

The manager looked at the monitor and sighed. Despite complaining, he knew he could do nothing.

"They were always like this...always."

Y/n spoke. Watching them proudly, the old memory flashed in front of their eyes. The image of them in their school uniform collided with the now version of them. The sight made them chuckled.

Well, that really was how Yoongi and Jungkook are.

"Brief intro for you guys. This is Jungkook, our new member. JK, this is Yoongi, our lead singer."

Y/n introduced the two to each other, even though, it looked like they had already known each other.

"So this is our new chorus? Can he?" Yoongi smirked while provoking the newcomer.

"Can't I be the lead singer. I bet I'm better than this old man." Jungkook, who cared nothing about seniority, challenged Yoongi for the position.

And that was how everything started between the two. Their journey of chaotic friendnemy.

"I still remember how they fought no end. They even broke into fist fight."

Y/n smiled at the old memory. They could feel the nostalgic shock yet delight as if it happened yesterday.

That was understandable though.

Because....they were the cause of the fight.

"Dipshit, you can compete with me on anything, but not Y/n."

The side of Yoongi's lip had some blood seeping. His hand painted red so did his face.

"Why? If you like them, say it! I'm not like you, Agust. I like Y/n and I have guts to say what I feel."

Jungkook shout out his confession, even though, the left side of his cheek got a bruise. His blood was boiling as the older stopped him from his plan.

Y/n stood in front of the door, frozen. They didn't want to believe what they had just witnessed.

"It shouldn't be like this." Y/n mumbled to themselves.

For months, Y/n distanced themselves from the band. The rest of the members couldn't hide it and told their singers why Y/n didn't show up at their studio. The two of them kept apologizing to Y/n afterward.

Well, that was in the past. Now everything between them was good. Their feelings, their problems, everything fell into their places perfectly.

"Y/nie how was it?" Jungkook was about to throw his sweating body toward them, however, Yoongi was quicker.

"Not so fast, kid. We gotta get change first."

A giant bunny pouted before following Yoongi to the changing room. Y/n giggled at the two of them.

From enemy to brother, their relationship was like a roller coaster.

*In the changing room*

"Everything's ready." The staff adjusted suit one last time before let Yoongi and Jungkook go.

"Hyung...this is it. Will they say yes?" Jungkook asked his older friend. His hands were shaking.

Yoongi didn't answer anything. The older one seemed to be well-prepared, yet his eyes couldn't hide his worry.

As much as they wanted to hear a yes and quite confident about it, deep down they were a tiny part that prepared for the rejection.

No matter what they wanted, in the end, it wasn't something they could control.

"Let's go." Yoongi spoke and lead the way.

"They are late. Is everything alright? Aren't you guys have a special ending before the concert end?"

Y/n asked the rest of the band.

"We know nothing...really. The staff only told us that those two would like to perform something special for the ending of this tour."

The bass player replied and glanced at other members, having the same expression as Y/n.

They all were confused.

Phew.....Phew....

The string of lights started shooting up into the sky. And the next moment, the firework bloomed, lighting up in the middle of darkness.

"It has been 10 years we were together. Spending year and year after you, in every difficulty we always find hope..."

Jungkook's voice suddenly came through the speakers. The firework still went on, blooming in various patterns.

"As a special day, at the end of this successful tour, we wanted to express our love and gratitude to our first fan..."

Yoongi then continued the script.

"Every practice session, every lyric, every beat, they won't exist if it wasn't you who kept encouraging us...."

"We fought a lot. We cried a lot. We acted like kids around you, yet you were never tired of us two..."

Jungkook chuckled as he ended the sentences.

"Thank you for being here. Thank you for not giving up on us. Thank you. We hope this letter touch your heart. How we wish there is a word that has a greater meaning than the word love to say to you..."

The two of them said in unison.

"Y/n-ah, let's be together always...and for the rest of our lives, shall we?"

One final blow of the firework lit the sky.

A/n note : That's it. I hope you enjoy the os. Seeing them together on the stage and other performance from Jimin and Namjoon with Yoongi make me want to fastfoward to 2025 so bad. Well, I chose this pair because of the chemistry when I saw the fancam. I thought it would be nice to put them into frienemy mode with and oc who bond them within the relationship (+ a litle romance)

WIP Questionnaire

Tagging @sarahlizziewrites @queen-tashie @words-after-midnight @cowboybrunch @spideronthesun + open tag for anyone who wants to join in :) I'm working on Blood Union so I'll answer for this WIP!

1. What’s the first part of your WIP that you created?

I have a notepad where I outline the main plot points/scenes that I want to write. This is my kind of zero-draft and I'll use this to write my WIP. It helps me know how to structure my story and mostly keeps the characters in check. I'm a certified planner.

2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?

Most likely the chorus to Danger Angel by Larkin Poe. This song is pretty much was inspired Mave. (I'm obsessed with the live version, but the studio version works just as well!)

3. What are your favorite characters that you made? Why?

Mavis is my favourite, as I've written all of the Blood trilogy from her POV. She's fun to write as she's so different from me; confrontational and doesn't choke on her anger. Anton, who started off as a background character, has crept to the fore, and has been a surprise success. He's become such a layered person (in my opinion) and has take on a much more central role. He's just a cranky, curmudgeon who is a secret cinnamon roll when it comes to his cats.

4. What other pieces of media do you think your fanbase would share?

Most likely Supernatural & Buffy. I feel that there's a lot of crossover between these shows and my WIP.

5. What has been your biggest struggle with your WIP?

At the moment? Finding time to write. I'm either too tired from work, or have too much stuff to do, so my writing takes a backseat. I find that really frustrating. I just want a week off worok to complete everything on my to-do list, so that I can have a guilt-free black to just sit and write!

6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!

Other than demons, the main animals that make an appearance, are Anton's cats. Domagoj is a big, fat, ginger street- tom, and Božica, his prize-winning ragdoll, as well as her kittens.

7. How do your characters travel/get around?

Mavis has an old transit van that she's converted into a campervan a la #vanlife as it allows her to be mobile when on the hunt for demons. Arnauld, being a billionaire demon has a range of sportscars, and Anton, a self-proclaimed petrol-head, loves an SUV (not just because they're good for running people over with!)

8. What part of your WIP are you working on right now?

I'm not even 10k words into this WIP, so still very early stages. I don't tend to write in chapters- I add them when I start doing my first editing skim- but I'm probably only around chapter 3 or 4

9. What aspects (tropes, maybe?) you think will draw your audience in?

I hope- Action Girl Mave, her dymanic with her found family, her antagonism of Arnauld, and her budding friendship with Anton and his cats.

10. What are your hopes for your WIP?

That I can get it finished sometime this year, and it doesn't need too much editing 😭
