You know what era of romcoms I miss? It's the early 2000s teen romcoms that were based on classic literature. They were some of my favorite ones, and yeah, some were loosley based, but they still hit those important bases, and they were so much fun.
We had:
Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew - 10 Things I Hate About You
Shakespeare's 12th Night - She's the Man
Snow White - Sydney White
Cinderella - A Cinderella Story, What a Girl Wants
Little Mermaid - Aquamarine
Jane Austen's Emma - Clueless
The Scarlett Letter - Easy A
Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet - Warm Bodies
Shakespeare's Midnight Summer's Dream - Get Over It
Pygmalion - She's All That
Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor - John Tucker Must Die
Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility - Material Girls
I might be missing some, but I remember just having fun with these. One of my English teachers also showed us a few of these movies while studying Shakespeare to show how pieces of literature can change over the years and inspire other's own takes.

this seems so dorky, but Amanda Bynes is one of my childhood heroes!! she was always someone that I watched growing up that provided a comfort space for me, and she taught me that girls could be funny and still be seen as beautiful!! she’s doing her FIRST ever con appearance and I might throw up out of the possibility of her coming to a convention near me. I’m so glad she’s doing better, I truly love her so much.

SYDNEY WHITE- 2007 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Tumblr media
Fun light hearted teen comedy starring Amanda Bynes. Amanda plays Sydney White. She goes to college and joins her mum's (decesased) sorority. Unfortunately, its filled with caniving bimbos and she is betrayed by them. She is forced to join the Vortex house of outcasts and nerds. She befriends them and rallies them together to stand up against the sororities and evil fraternities. Also, the whole things a metaphor for snow white apparently.
This movie was a lot of fun. Now sure theres the occasional joke that isnt funny and makes you go soft instantly, but most of its a good time. Sure, you always know exactly whats going to happen five minutes before it does, but the way things unravelled was quite satisfying.
Amanda Bynes is the star of the show holding everything together. Shes pleasant and likable. This was unfortunately the last lead role of her career and her second last movie altogether coming just before 2010's "Easy A". But its never too late for a comeback.
Also enjoyed Danny Strong as one of her nerd friends. One of the best geeks in the business.
