I think in large part the root of Jiang Cheng/Mu Qing/ Lan Xichen hate is not understanding that when the writing is of high quality, side characters, much like people, have lives outside of the main character. Even if the main character is an important part of their lives, they have their own concerns, experiences, feelings, traumas, limited points of view, fragments of information, impossible situations, and hard choices to make. Much like the main characters. They can't always be serviceable to the main character. And they aren't supposed to be.

If the story was written from the POV of any of these side characters, due to a tragic lack of effort in seeing things through others' perspectives, the haters would have been writing essays about how WWX or XL are selfish, toxic trash.

HE was the one who sealed JGY's name in history along with that coffin. He can't defend him now.
