The issue with Lenkov shows (I've got many) and the relationships is that they took place off screen and we were expected to feel connections?
In Hawaii Five-0 Steve and Cath - when we first meet her, she's doing a favour for Steve and the idea is that they're kind of together but not. All the while, there is already a female lead in the show, a series regular in this case Kono, who you could see breadcrumbs to a relationship with Steve, kick ass, strong character, strong female who wouldn't have been diminished in this relationship. Instead, Kono ends up in a relationship with Adam, who duct tapes her to a chair which she immediately forgives, an action that goes against everything we knew about her.
Or in MacGyver when Mac and Desi have a whole ass relationship off screen between seasons, during a time jump and again, we're expected to be invested? You don't show us the awkward get together, the relationship building and ultmiate falling apart to give us the level of discomfort between them when we see them at the start of a new season. Similarly, we already have a regular female character in the show who would be a good match for Mac who throughout the many (although not enough) seasons we can see a connection build, Riley Davis, super smart, quick on her feet, genius in ways that Mac isn't. A brilliant balance already in the show. And turns Desi into something she isn't and shouldn't have ever been.
Lenkov wasted the natural chemistry of his cast and characters and frankly, I'll never forgive him for that (and some other things.)
At least Higgins and Magnum are getting a shot.

reading the Pretty Little Liars books again and the show’s complete and brutal disregard for everything that made Aria and her family interesting characters in the books will never cease to confound me. Aria is often my favorite of the four in the books, but that is never the case in the show. (Namely, because they just make her obsessed with Ezra and it’s basically her only personality trait, and also because nearly everyone in her life just becomes another version of Ezra, like how both of her parents are English teachers in the show despite Byron being an art history professor in the books and Ella only working at a gallery, or Aria can’t interact with them for more than five minutes like with Jake. Aria isn’t even very big on literature or writing in the books, instead focusing on hands-on artist expression.)

The Wasted Potential of Bleach Female Characters II, Chizuru Honsho
I don’t like Chizuru, because perverts of any sex, gender, race and sexual orientation make me uncomfortable. But that must not necessarily be so.No, not me not liking perverts, that must and will always be, but Kubo-sensei could have made her not a pervert, or at the very least make her grow out of it.
I have a special place in my heart for the first arc of Bleach, and that’s when she was most present. In that arc was also implied, that every one in Ichigo’s school gang will get powers, and we’ll have an awesome urban fantasy series.
Just like her more iconic friend Tatsuki, she only gets enough the power to see the supernatural, enough to be put on the radar of predatory entities, but not enough to save themselves. I would have loved to see them both fighting,alas...
I would have loved to see her go to Hueco Mundo to save Orihime, become a competent fighter, and a more rounded character.
We know that she was really important to Ichigo, as she is one of the persons that Aizen keeps awake and hunts, with the specific goal of making Ichigo go berserk, and transform into the perfect enemy.
Chizuru is used for comedic relief, only it’s not funny, sorry. I feel insulted as a women by the way this girl is treated by the author.
And things don’t stop with the manga, oh no, in the anime, during a filler episode, where they could have flashed her character a little, they chose instead to double down on it, and now her one character trait is dialed up to eleven, and she is the ultimate weapon against conventionally beautiful female arrancars.
Do I even need to explain why this is insulting? Does Chizuru has any hope and dreams that don’t involve Orihime naked? It would have been nice to know. What are her spiritual beliefs, what gave her the courage to be out, what does she plan to study, what is her dream job, does she really love Orihime or is just a crush?
Then, unceremoniously she just disappears from the story.
And the final insult, at the end of the manga when all the friends reunite, guess who is missing, literally, from the picture.
Is there any wonder then. that most yuri fanfic authors, prefer to write about more fleshed out, and less prone to assault female characters like Tatsuki Arisawa, Rukia Kuchiki when they want to pair Orihime with someone?
I am not one of the people, that think an oeuvre, needs to have ‘’one of each’‘ in it, to be good. But if you include just one character representing a minority, maybe you shouldn’t make them perverted butt monkeys.
I think that many people would be less upset, if Bleach had a second explicitly gay woman, that was a fleshed out heroine. I wonder what men would think if all the male characters were like Keigo Asano or Marechyio Omaeda.
Yes there is subtext in many relationships, Tatsuki/Orihime, Yoruichi/Soi Fon and even Rukia/Orihime. But that is subtext, and can be interpreted in other ways, meanwhile the only lesbian, gets vanished from the story. I wonder how the lesbian girls that grew up with Bleach feel about it. Don’t want to speak out of turn, but I think it’s pretty safe to assume, that they don’t associate a lot of positive feelings with it.

It seems I'm going to build up half of the Mordana tag on AO3.
I found a dozen fics on LJ(I'm going to compile them in one post) and a couple in non-English language. That's all.
I would dream to find an Arthurian novel with Morgana and unrelated to her!Mordred, but judging by my tries on Google and Goodreads they don't exist.

death is not the be-all and end-all of fiction that you think it is.
if your character dying at the end is the only thing you can envision to confer meaning on your story, especially when that story is grounded in subversion and otherness and possibility, then you're bad at your job and, worst of all, you didn't understand your own work at. all. it really should be a crime to be this stupid (godmother from fleabag voice: what. a. C*NT! WHAT A C*NT!)
that is to say that a month later i'm still seething >:(

everyone has talked to hell and back about viviziepop's character designs. the skinny twinks, the suits, the bowties, the sharp teeth grins. but i have yet to see anyone mention the neverending layers of crap around this guy.
he's a cannibalistic serial killer radio host from the 1920's who died in a hunting accident and got turned into a demon with both deer and radio motif. his actual superpowers are 'summon goons' and 'black tentacles from magic portals'
