You came to find me because you want my help. No, not for you to help me, but because it is beneficial to you. You want to recreate a body of flesh, and I have already thought of a way.
[What he’s saying is: it’s beneficial to /me/ and you might die but who cares :)]

饕餮(Taotie)
Tumblr media
Taotie is a monster that appears in Chinese mythology. "饕" in 饕餮 has the meaning of devouring wealth, and "餮" means devouring food. The evil gods depicted in classic books such as "Lu's Chunqiu" are said to be the four evil spirits, and one of them is Taotie, who causes trouble and commits evil deeds.
In modern times, every Chinese person is a taotie. I have no choice but to destroy these food-mad demons.
Babylman

1. Cipactli, primordial crocodile monster of Aztec mythology. It was slain by the gods in order to create the world, with Tezcatlipoca cutting off his foot to bait it out of the sea.
2. Taotie, one of the four perils of Chinese myth. It is a beast representing greed, trying to devour everything it can find, until it harms even itself.
3. Inari-Okami, Japanese deity of agriculture and prosperity, associated with foxes. They are especially associated with grain, and are said to appear as a human of varying gender.

Is the Taotie in Dracones Mundi?
It is not! My reasons for not including Taotie are arbitrary, but basically there are a lot of dragons endemic in East Asia so I tend to focus on the animals specifically known as dragons, whereas in other world regions I am a bit more lax about what is or isn't a dragon. Taotie presumably exist in the world of Dracones Mundi, but they are not classified as dragons (within my own worldbuilding!) and are therefore not in the dragon field guide! :3
Other projects may have a dragon specifically for taotie but I don't, as a matter of personal preference rather than any rules on what is or is not a dragon

Kung Fu Panda Legends of Awesomeness - "Youth in Re-Volt"
Episode 74 overall
Tumblr media
Synopsis:
Bian Zao steals magical lightning powers and teams up with Tong Fo and the Croc Bandits; Po and Taotie must keep Bian Zao from destroying the village.
Characters:
I was wrong. Writers didn't dismiss that Bian Zao has electrical powers now. But I'm not sure if he still has them. They might have made him return them.
This episode is all about Bian Zao's relationship with his father and Po trying to help. A conflict that doesn't comes from Po being an idiot or a jerk in any way whatsoever? Hallelujah!!!
Po is just like a second parent and it leads to many funny interactions with both Taotai and Bian Zao.
Tumblr media
Great episode, one of the funniest in the series!
Villains: Taotie and Bian Zao are not only the bad guys but the main characters of this episode. I share Po's sentiment. It's great to see them make amends but it's a shame they want to harm Po.
Tumblr media
Fung has birthday and Gah-ri too! The Croc Bandits are here so there are people to steer Taotai’s machines.
Tong Fo is creepy and manipulative. The way he touches Bian Zao makes me want to call child protective services.

Here's the Taotie enemies in action! While they move a bit slow initially, once they get into attack range they go on a rampage, charging back and forth in different directions! Their attacks can be very punishing, but they also damage other enemies which you can use to your advantage!

What's with this "netflix" spam, Taotie?
Lower jaw pulls way back into an overbite.
Taotie was a mythical monster attributed to Gluttons or gluttony.overtime. in artifacts they were portrayed as having no lower jaw.
Look at what autocorrect does to "correct" MY work.
Do your music producers like Bob Rock get paid by the hour from the record company you're on contract with?
Was that apostrophe X (Netfl1'x) supposed to hint that Elon musk is a personal fan of mine? Does he want to netflix and chill with me? Oooh!
Or is he on a lawless Mormon vendetta and singling me out for an entire industry of "sins"
Or is Bill Gates closing a window on a Windows OS.
I have nothing to confess. Mr. Catholic.
How about you pin down your rules and guidelines under the Law so that people can know how to obey the rules instead of some self-important Dick making the rules up according to some Lawless Dick's opinion as they go along.
Surrender your fucking ego magician. Lawless Dick GLITCHING the system.
3:42 am - that was a nice "touch".

"Take care" - Countee Volz
How's Bob and buddy? You still taking care of your own things and apartment? I wouldn't know, you kicked me out to live on the streets on zero notice right after the sept 11th 2001 attacks and my grandmother's funeral. You kicked me out on my return to El Segundo for the day on oct. 6th 2001. My grandmother died on sept. 6th. Her funeral was on Sept. 11th 2001. Remember that or those moments or funeral details? It's convenient to remember important dates this way isn't it?
Do you think I forgot the el segundo incidents?
You kicked me out while calling me a "guest" in your home on zero notice, or reason, as gratitude for cleaning up after you and Tim Barnes' slob ass who never had to lift a finger to clean even one dish while I paid your rent for the "priviledge" of living there. Tim ghosted you and vanished after you guys kicked me out, leaving you to pay all the rent by yourself.
Our cats bob and buddy supposedly died when Countee abandoned them and threw them out too. Maybe you're lying about that too. Everybody else thinks it okay to lie to me, why would you be any different? Who's your owner? Who are you betraying me for? Who's your "man" directing traffick behind the scenes? Snitch.
What about your secrets instead of pressing me for information?
Was the world and the United States government going to suddenly pull off the veil and say "surprise, we were just kidding" my grandmother and mother and father never died, Bob and buddy never suffered and died. The sept. 11, 2001 attacks never happened it was all just a faked global boy-in-bubble environment about the whole thing and none of it really happened other than my firsthand experience? That they just wanted to watch people to see what they do when they think noone is looking?
Yeah right.

Tigers, dragons, and, monsters on a Shang Dynasty Ewer, May 15, 2021
Lidded ritual ewer (guang) with taotie, dragons, birds, tigers, elephants, fish, snakes, and humans, Shang Dynasty, Middle Yangzi Valley, China, c. 1100–1050 B.C.E., bronze, 31.4 x 31.5 x 14.4 cm (Freer Gallery of Art, Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC; Gift of Eugene and Agnes E. Meyer, F1961.33a-b) A conversation with Keith Wilson, Curator of Ancient Chinese art, and Beth Harris Smarthistory
Ritual wine ewer (gong) with masks (taotie), dragons, and real animals, ca. 1100-1050 BCE
Late Anyang period, probably late Shang dynasty
Bronze
H x W x D: 32.2 × 32.2 × 15.7 cm (12 11/16 × 12 11/16 × 6 3/16 in)
This extraordinary vessel bristles with life, from the birds at the front and on the handles, to the humans wrapped in snakes on the back legs. Most likely made in southern China, it seems to offer a view of a spirit world in constant movement and flux.
This interestingly shaped ewer, a vase-shaped pitcher, is called a guang ("gwang") in Chinese. It is designed as a pouring vessel. The broad, raised spout aligns with a vertical handle at the back. It ingeniously combines a handful of fantastic beasts into its form. At the front of the vessel is a horned bird with a hooked beak. Its wings, composed of coiled dragons, cover its flanks. The space between these areas is filled with matching pairs of dragons, reptiles, and birds. The handle also takes the shape of a standing bird, its head caught in the jaws of a horned beast. It divides the animal mask —taotie —into halves. Find one of its staring eyes. Below it is a snout and open mouth. The creature has the head of a snake man in either side of its mouth. The lid is decorated with two prominent animal masks: a ram head at the front and a buffalo head at the back. See if you can identify the animals that form their horns and fill the area between the two bodiless heads. Collection of the National Museum of Asian Art, Smithsonian
