Week 11: Learning Through Oral Recitation

After taking a break for Holy Week, we came back to our research project feeling refreshed and ready to continue. This week, we had an important face-to-face oral recitation with Sir Earl, where we discussed what we learned from Modules 7, 8, and 9.

We started with Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs). These are like maps that show how data is connected in a database, what kinds of information we’re storing, and how they relate to each other. Understanding ERDs helps us design better systems.

Then, we talked about Database Normalization. This is a method used to organize data in a way that avoids duplication and makes everything more efficient. By following certain steps (called normal forms), we make sure each piece of information is stored only once and in the right place. This helps keep the database clean, easy to update, and less likely to have errors.

Lastly, we looked at the Data Dictionary, which is like a guidebook for the database. It explains what each piece of data means, its type, and how it fits into the system. This is helpful for both developers and users.

The recitation with Sir Earl was challenging, but it helped us understand these topics better. It also showed us where we need to keep improving. We’re now more prepared and excited to apply what we’ve learned to improve our project.

Early Life

He was born on May, 8th, 1962. He is a politician in Seychelles. Before being elected as president he served as Vice President of Seychelles from 2010 to 2016. In addition to this, he also served as a member of the United Seychelles Party (PP). He was born in the western Ugandan town of Kilembe to Seychellois parents.

He completed his primary and secondary education in Seychelles itself. Along with this, he graduated with a degree in political science from the University of Havana in Cuba. From a very young age, he exhibited his excellence. He started working as an assistant curriculum officer when he was 23 years old at Seychelles Education Ministry. Not only this he also worked as a lecturer at Seychelles Polytechnic & the National Youth Service.

Political Career

Till 1998, Danny Faure served as a leader of government business in the National Assembly when in 1993 Multiparty Democracy returned to the island

nation. In the year 1998, he was appointed as Minister of Education where he served under various ministerial capacities that include Finance, Youth, Trade & Industries, Information & Communication technology, and public administration.

In the successive years post-2006, he served as minister of finance, appointed by James Michel, president at that time. On July, 1st, 2010 he became Vice-President along with retaining his financial portfolio.

● This “Planetary & Leadership Award” was honoured to him at the National Geographic Awards Ceremony, at George Washington University, in Washington DC.

He got married to Shermin Rudie Bastienne on April, 4th, 2021. He is the father of one son and four daughters.

The finalists for the Football Men's finals were IISM and Ruia College at JNS Ground, Juhu.

The game kicked off with both the teams greeting each other with sheer good luck and enthusiasm.

The first half was completely dominated by IISM with a lot of possession and shots on target.

The second half started with both the teams pushing hard to give a tough fight and in the middle of the second half, IISM scored on a counter attack.

The final scoreline was 2-0 as IISM cruised to win the title. IISM is proud of the champions who made the institute proud.
