ETICĂ vs. PROFIT. Cum pot genera principiile un business de succes?
Astăzi vorbim despre etica în A.I.

So we all know that that there is no ethical consumption under capitalism, and to a certain extent, we have to acknowledge that our way of life is dependent on the suffering of others. Fortunately, it seems there are people who are pushing against that. If you're in the market for a new phone, I urge you to check out the Fairphone 4. It's made using ethically sourced materials and designed to be modular, so you can make repairs at home- which means if you crack your screen, or the battery stops working, you don't have to buy a whole new phone. I know the world is becoming more and more aware of the horrific conditions being suffered by people in places like DRC to make our smart devices. You can use your buying power to make a change.
I am personally not in the market for a new phone just yet, but if you are looking to get a new phone, I encourage you to look into ethically sourced phones and other tech. If you already have a Fairphone, please reblog this and talk about your experience. Be honest. Give the pros and cons so people can make informed decisions. We can't immediately stop all of the horrors that capitalism has brought on the world, but we have the power to make smaller choices where we can to mitigate the harm done.
Fairphone's main company seems to operate in Europe (website here), but if you are looking to buy in the US and Canada, check out their partner site, Murena (website here).

Stolen childhoods, stolen innocence. In an industry rife with so many ills, child labor is certainly amongst the worst. Perhaps the #BigTech makers of the smart phones and tablets and electric vehicles at the top of supply chain are unaware of the misery being caused at the bottom. Let's do our best to make them aware 🙃
This is the new "sweatshop" fight.

I'll be like "maybe we shouldn't rip a baby away from the only mother/person he's ever known at birth (which we call inhumane when done to puppies) just because his genetic parents paid for him to be made in a lab" and other Christians will be like "why do you hate babies?"
#like. I know most Christians haven't thought deeply about fertility tech ethics#and the only reason I have is because I'm in my twenties in the right place at the right time listening to the right people#but the least y'all could do is not get so defensive about it and accuse me of malicious intent#x#pro-life#anti-surrogacy

finally some good fucking ai discourse
ai being used to generate shit recipes, patterns, and other forms of advice and instruction is honestly one of my biggest concerns with it right now, it's at best extremely frustrating and at worst actively dangerous to people that trust it.
we as a society REALLY need to fix this thing where profitability is prioritized over things like "not telling kids to eat rat poison or whatever," sooner rather than later. that's not strictly an ai problem, the regular human lies are what ann reardon has been trying to combat for years in Debunking, but the scrutiny that ai is under because of all the hype, and the way these things are being marketed as a positive thing, are certainly highlighting how much corporations do not give a fuck.
#the bit about ai being used to fake other people's content is also a problem#altho again its less a problem ai invented and more just that people arent even pretending to hide it anymore#theyre bold enough to be like 'wow! ai lets me trick and lie to people!' and we're all just supposed to think thats fine#also to clarify: by 'the scrutiny is highlighting the problem'#i mean that im not sure if ai is being used ESPECIALLY less ethically than other tech#but because everyone is looking its much easier to see how fucked it is#and in turn the corporations arent even trying to hide it but are instead trying to get ahead of it#by acting like its a totally rad and desirable thing instead

tbh I think people overestimate how much the average person knows about ai considering even terminally online people don’t know how tf ai works
#hell I’ve had a spin in it for ages like you can check my blog it’s very obvious#And even I didn’t know some of the ethical issues until relatively recently. bc it’s a very broad collection of tech#Meanwhile people who don’t know what AI is are actively being misled into thinking it’s straight up something it’s not#i do not think random people belong straight up lied to and put in danger for money are the biggest issues

Thinking about how no matter who wins or loses the fight now- sorcerer society will lose.
Thinking about how jujutsu sorcerers are trapped hurtling down to their inescapable doom. Fight, or no fight. Doom is inevitable.
#Sukuna dies- sorcerer society has nothing left to stand back up. Everyone is dead. Their governance is gone. Jujutsu tech has no teachers.#Sukuna dies- and sorcerer ethics and morality died with him. Can it be a win when you sacrificed everything. When you have nothing left.#Sukuna dies- sorcerer society still crumbles#Sukuna wins- he takes over. Kills all sorcerers anyways.#In a way it almost feels like there’s more to lose even if jujutsu sorcerers win?#Shounen my ass#Gege you mad mad cat#jjk gojo#jujutsu kaisen#jjk spoilers#jjk manga#gojo satoru#jujutsu kaisen gojo#geto suguru#yuta okkotsu#jjk yuta#yuji itadori#choso kamo#jjk choso#megumi fushiguro#nobara kugisaki#jjk sukuna#Jujutsu Kaisen is a tragedy

my thing about the "i bought this tesla/cyber truck before elon went crazy" bumper stickers people are doing now is that for as long as i have known about musk it's been because he's a fucking loser tool with apartheid money and i guess i'm just so petty that that has always been enough justification to not want anything to do with him, his products, or people who willingly give him a cent of their money. but that's just me.
#'but they were the only ethical ev when they first came out!' consider that the rest of his deal has always outweighed that#before you even get to the total abuse of the congo to get the needed tech#which is an insane thing to have to say btw.

I hate to break it to Republicans but at this point most of the so called "DEI hires" in workplaces are white men who don't have the skills, certificates, degrees, and/or experience for the job and only got their positions because a friend of a friend got them hired. Like women, non-white people, queer people, disabled people, and many others all know they'd be first on the chopping block at their job which is why they are usually the ones most qualified, and even overqualified, in their workplace. They're the ones with the degrees, years of experience, tons of skills, and who meet or exceed expectations at their job. They're the ones who work their asses off and keep the place running. And when it comes to cutting people, managers and administrators only care about who can keep the lights on and the numbers high. So Bradley, who only got the job because a family member convinced the manager to hire him even though he was not qualified at all, and he's doing the bare minimum every month, and he sucks to work with, is getting cut first. Simple as that.
#someone of you don't want to hear this#but you need to hear it#now is this applicable to every workplace?#no! BUT#for the majority of places it is#example where i work as a lab tech#my degree my lab experience and my skills got me hired#my work ethic my pleasant demeanor and my reliability keep me employed#compare all of that to another lab tech who works in a lab two doors down#who got the job because his uncle convinced his boss to hire him#who doesnt have a stem degree or lab experience#and who regularly either no call no shows or leave four hours early even when he has projects#if the budget gets tight and someones gotta go i know its not me#because i worked my ass off for this position and work to keep it#and he doesn't#you coule argue im a so called dei hire as a queer woman#but lets be real here#if we put our resumes our degrees our references and our skills side by side#i know who's getting chosen every time#my ramblings#not tf

Wetware Is Here: Human Brain-Matter Computing (not fiction)

Swiss tech company Final Spark now offers Neuroplatform, the world’s first bioprocessing platform using human brain organoids (lab-grown mini-brains) to perform computational tasks instead of silicon chips.
The first such facility uses 16 human-brain organoids, which the company claims uses a million times less power than their silicon counterparts.
These are not sentences we expected to write non-fictionally in this year of our world 2024.

If you're going to use AI to generate "art," and you hide the fact your product is produced by AI, you need to ask yourself why you're using AI in the first place.
Because if you "created" something, you should be able to talk about your methodology. You should be able to discuss your techniques, your inspirations, your influences. If you hide how you made it, and if you won't talk about anything but that end product, why did you even make it? What was the point?
Oh, right. You can't talk about most of that with AI art, because you're not actually "creating" anything at all.
The fact that you hide that your product is AI is a dead giveaway you're not actually proud of your work and didn't put much thought and effort into it, AND that you realize it's inferior to the real thing. You just wanted the attention it could bring to you from those who don't realize it's AI. For you, AI is a shortcut to attention and validation and you take no real pride in it. It's just clout-farming to you, and that reveals your thoughts on art and artists: That art is just "content" and artists are just content machines, history and beauty of art bedamned.
Ask yourself again why you're using AI.
And when you still choose use it to farm that clout you're so desperate to taste, tag your "art" as such, because I'd rather give clout to people who learned their skills themselves, even if their end product isn't as slick as yours.
#stop trying to pass your ai art off as traditional art#it's so gross#just be honest#but then again ai tech didn't exactly build itself on honesty or ethics#ai art#ai#ai artwork
