Fixing the Yips
Barney Stinson x fem!Reader
18+, hair pulling, fingering, daddy kink, unprotected sex etc
Based on S3E11 “The Yips”
A/N: this came to me while I was rewatching himym and I had to write it down so enjoy
You’d always gotten along with Barney, even though he could be absolutely ridiculous and childish. In fact, it was often your love for fun and adventure that brought you closer— laser tag matches, last minute flights just for a change in scenery, licking the liberty bell…
And you had to admit he was attractive. The suit effect was real, and the fact he wore them every day didn’t stale the fact; you’d never get tired of the sight of him in a suit. Still, you bet he was just as attractive without it. In fact you’d spent a few sleepless nights picturing him suitless, hovering over you (or under you). You were too proud to make a move, though, and although you didn’t know it, Barney was too shy to make a move on you.
But when Barney had run into Rhonda, the woman he’d lost his virginity to, he’d caught a bad case of the yips. You’d never seen Barney this way — so unconfident, so out of it, and you knew the perfect way to fix him.
You walked nervously up to Barney’s apartment, clutching your trench coat in the pockets. Your hair was pinned up loosely, holding your day old curls away from your face, framing it perfectly. When he opened the door he looked surprised to see you. But his face soon returned to its downcast expression as he trudged to the couch and slumped in his seat. His grey sweatpants and blue hoodie were a contrast from how you usually saw him, but you knew you only needed a few minutes to get his confident energy back.
“I heard you had the yips,” you said, stepping out of your heels. He glanced over at you without turning his head. You began to unbutton your coat as you strutted toward him slowly.
“I thought I would help you… fix it,” you said with a gentle bite of your lower lip. Barney turned to look at you, eyeing you up and down as you teasingly pulled back your coat, revealing the flimsy red lace that barely covered your body.
Barney raised his eyebrows. “Y/n what are you doing?” His hands instinctively resting on your thighs as you gently climbed into his lap. Lowering your lips to his ear you whispered, “I told you, I’m helping you.”
With that, you brought your lips to his. The kiss started out sweet and gentle, but soon your tongues were wrestling at a steady pace. Barney tugged on your hair, and you moaned as he pulled your head back, placing sloppy kisses down your neck. Your hair spilled from its pinned position and down over your shoulders as Barney kept pulling your hair and sucking hickies on your neck. You felt a growing wetness in your panties as a sudden need for more of Barney washed over you, and you ground your hips against him to satisfy your craving.
Barney groaned under the movement and you felt him growing under you. You unzipped the hoodie he was wearing and threw it across the room. Wrapping your legs around his waist you pushed your dripping core harder against him and dragged your nails down his chest.
Barney had a hand squeezing your ass and the other freeing your boobs from your bra before squeezing one as his tongue moved toward the other one, teasing the nipple before taking it into his mouth and sucking desperately.
“Mmm, Barney, more, please,” you begged, and he obeyed.
He looked up at you, eyes on yours as he continued sucking your breasts and slid a finger past your panties, through the wetness of your folds and began circling your clit. Encouraged by your moans of pleasure he went faster before thrusting 2 fingers in. Curling his fingers slowly, he watched lustfully as your face contorted in pleasure by his own doing.
“You like that, baby? Daddy making you feel good?” Barney purred into your ear as he pawed your breast roughly with his free hand.
“Mmm, yes daddy, so good… please, more,” you praised him.
“Tell daddy what you want.”
“I want — oh!— to feel you — mmm— in me, daddy… mmm please! I want to cum around your cock!” You said between moans.
Flipping you onto your back, Barney flung your legs over his shoulders and positioned himself at your entrance.
He hesitated before pushing into you. “You sure you want this?” he asked.
“Yes daddy please!”
Holding onto your hips he thrust into you, allowing you a moment to adjust to his size before starting a steady pace. The room was filled with the sound of your moans, your cries of pleasure and the slapping of skin on skin. The more you said his name the harder he thrust into you, hand around your throat, other rubbing your clit as your nails raked across his back, sure to leave marks.
Over and over again you called his name, and with every praise the yips left him, until he was back to his confident sexual self. Soon he was flipping you backwards and forwards, fucking you hard in a dozen different positions. You had already come twice, but were quickly brought into round three so Barney could finish.
About an hour later he had you pinned against his large window, arms held tightly above your head with one hand while the other held your leg up so he could pound into you from behind. When he was finally on the brink of his high he released your arms to circle your clit as he came hard in you, white liquid filling your pussy as you came with him, reaching your third high, a loud cry coming from each of you, your names spilling from your lips as he rode you through your high.
When you’d both caught your breath Barney turned you around so you were facing him. Tucking a strand of hair behind your ear, he looked at you for a moment, studying your face before placing a kiss on your lips.
“Thank you,” he said as he pulled away. You smiled at him before meeting him in another kiss.
Then Barney said something he’d never said to another girl.
“Wanna stay the night?”

Being Ted's little sister
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Author's Note: I wrote this a while ago and even though I probably won't write any HIMYM stuff in the near future, I don't wanna let this headcanons go to waste... So enjoy!
Tumblr media
He's always very considerate, thoughtful and understanding. Though he does crack a lot of jokes when you're trying to tell him a story, he knows his limits.
He gives the best advice... Not in fashion, though.
He definitely has a soft spot for you
He never lets you near Barney. Never.
Definitely gives you his jacket when it's cold which you found very odd because he never does that before
If you're having a bad day or if there's something going on with you, he'll know before anyone else notices
And if you are having a bad day, he usually takes you out to your favorite place (either a restaurant or a bar) to cheer you up
You can't wrap your head around the fact that you both used to scream at each other’s faces when you both were teenagers, but now you guys are so caring for each other
Even Marshall and Lily were very confused about how calm and loving you both are now, compared to a few years ago when you guys are still in college
But you both still roast each other very often
If a guy ever breaks your heart, he's not afraid to throw hands (with the help of Marshall, of course)
When you're feeling gloomy or needed a shoulder to cry on, Ted would be the first person to come to mind. Same thing goes to him.
You never realized after all those years, he actually gives you the best hugs. It's always comforting to you.
The presence of him always seems calming to you. It's like you know he can protect you, and he always will.
When it comes to you, he's never hesitant to apologize first
He's the first person to show up when you're sick
Even though you both used to fight and argue a lot when you were younger, now you both realized how important and how you both love each other so much
Since the only Mosby living in New York are you and Ted, he has become the person you trust most

i think the best (worst) about tyk’s narrative is that sometimes its environmental storytelling, and sometimes its just the narrative describing what happens. and zhou zishu exploits that shamelessly and ruthlessly to hide his truths like pennies in a ceramic jar in the back storage room. u dont know where they are. even if you know where they are, sometimes you are wrong. sometimes u only find a part of the truth. sometimes u are being led around by the nose. sometimes u think u are being led around by the nose and dismiss your findings. shell game

The saddest sitcom character, who really needs to be saved, is Ted Mosby's daughter.
Imagine your dad sitting you down and telling you all the stories about how he and his group of friend's disrespected and outright hated women.

YET ANOTHER long and obnoxious stream of my thoughts while watching grey’s anatomy for the first time (season FIFTEEN, bc i’m actually not sick of these yet)
-i don’t like this whole “she’s not really your sister” thing. like, it’s played for comedic effect and teddy is clearly just hormonal and panicking so whatever but i don’t like that.
-i don’t want to rehash owen x amelia. yawn. nor do i want to rehash owen x teddy. yawner.
-i like that we’re getting a *little* deeper into helms crush on meredith and that it’s not just comic relief
-why are there no doctors above the age of 45 in this entire hospital besides richard? they’re all so pretty, but at what cost?
-something is going to happen to this pregnant nurse… there’s a lot of focus on her out of the blue
-i love that almost this entire intern class is at least mildly gay
-bailey is pissing me off
-ted mosby!!! he looks a little slovenly for a date tbh. not to sound judgmental but like, she’s all dressed up and he isn’t.
-this guy is way chiller than ted mosby. i like this for her. i hope it doesn’t turn out really bad but i know it probably will
-is it worth it to watch station 19?? i kind of don’t want to tbh
-i forgot teddy was in new york until her friend passed in 9/11. i’m imagining an au in which teddy and addison knew each other in NYC in the 90s bc i think they should’ve interacted more
-the undiagnosable stomach issue is so clearly this patient’s suspicious heirloom lunch pail. like, duh.
-okay well i was wrong about that and now i’m embarrassed that i predicted that with such smug sureness and authority.
-playing “chasing cars” in spanish for the día de los muertos episode is an interesting choice. i think i like it??
-nurse debbie!!!! it’s been a while
-okay nvm that is NOT nurse debbie. they just have the same bangs
-everyone gets to have a tumor on this show. YOU get a tumor! YOU get a tumor!! and YOU get a tumor!!!
-richard no :(
-RICHARD, NO >:(
-as much as i hate the owen/amelia dynamic, i really LOVE this whole amelia and betty thing
-i DO NOT like meredith/deluca
-the only relationship that doesn’t completely bore or frustrate me right now is alex/jo but even then, they’re just kind of there, yk?
-i love that meredith has one format of outfit that she likes and that works for her and she sticks to it. relatable AF.
-why didn’t miranda just have a conversation with ben before she sprung the separation on him? he would have been more than understanding i think
-i really like teddy and koracick actually
-i’ve been waiting for the other shoe to drop with betty :(
-did they change out writers and/or show runners?? the writing feels… cheesier almost? or maybe just like the emotional beats are less earned? i mean it’s always been delightfully soapy but it’s just different these past couple of seasons and i can’t put my finger on it
-betty/britney’s mom is baby from dirty dancing?????!!!!!
-alex just straight up not being able to understand the scottish accents is so fucking funny.
-i love it when bokhee has lines
-“it’s a real fire!!” alex, gleefully and wrapped in a homemade knit scarf while indoors
-richards reaction to they/them pronouns is very interesting and i think it’s definitely an accurate portrayal of how even the generally accepting and well meaning older people can sometimes struggle with that kind of stuff. like, he’s not trying to be ignorant or rude he’s just genuinely perplexed. “the world moves fast and i’m just trying to keep up”
-i SWEAR TO GOD if teddy gets back with owen instead of staying with tom i will start hitting things
-“you suffered for years bc of my brother so you should totally get together and move in with him”- megan hunt in a wig that’s almost as terrible as her advice
-nancy!!!
-the shepherd family dynamic is so interesting to me because we’ve heard about it from two different perspectives over the years (derek’s and things amelia has said mostly in PP) and what we’ve seen of them is mostly from derek and meredith’s perspective in which they seem nice if a bit overbearing.
-okay jeez kathleen is a piece of work. i’ve always liked nancy even though she is “mcbitchy”. i also can’t help but to think about how addison fit into all of this when she and derek were married lol.
-has amelia ever told her family about christopher?
-stop trying to push owen and teddy on me!!!! i hate it!!
-that is insurance fraud babe. is there not a way for them to do it pro bono or something??
-okay i can sense that teddy and owen is going to happen so i will not make any more notes about it bc all i have to say about it is some variation of “no! i hate it!”
-okay i lied because the way teddy is going about it makes me deeply upset. poor tom. also “he makes me laugh and feel safe but i don’t feel rage or passion or ecstasy” ????? i should hope you don’t feel rage??? owen hunt makes me enraged too but that doesn’t mean i want to kiss him on the mouth!!! jesus christ. just fuck tom i guess, right?
-WOAH. i was not vibing with merluca but he’s willing to go to prison for her??!!!
-there’s no way they’re really fired . meredith owns a good chunk of the hospital still, right??? not to mention there’s maybe three characters on this show that *haven’t* committed crimes/major ethical violations.
-i’ve been beefing with jackson for a few seasons now tbh

How do you think Aang would react if he'd met Katara post-zutara? She and Zuko aren't married (yet), but would Aang still insist on trying to win her heart, or would he sit back and be jealous quietly/obviously? Would he give up or even go so far as to try and get them to break up?
I can't really imagine a diabolical aaang trying to break them up, lol. I mostly think he'd be obvious about his pouting and just say "nothing" if people asked him what was wrong.
Aang kins with Ted Mosby...

if i were one of ted mosby’s kids i’d commit patricide after that damn story i’m sorry but could you imagine your dad sits you down to tell you about how he met your dead mother and how he became the man he is today and whatever and the whole time it becomes increasingly clear he’s still hung up on your aunt robin and always was. i’d kill him to avenge my dead mom fr it’s that serious. i don’t think men should get to move on after their wives die i don’t care how young they are. stay devoted to her memory forever or you’re not getting into heaven i’m being so serious

Right place at the right time
"The great moments of your life won’t necessarily be the things you do, they’ll also be the things that happen to you. Now, I’m not saying you can’t take action to affect the outcome of your life, you have to take action, and you will. But never forget that on any day, you can step out the front door and your whole life can change forever. You see, the universe has a plan kids, and that plan is always in motion. A butterfly flaps its wings, and it starts to rain. It’s a scary thought but it’s also kind of wonderful. All these little parts of the machine constantly working, making sure that you end up exactly where you’re supposed to be, exactly when you’re supposed to be there. The right place at the right time"
I can't imagine what my life would've been like if this show never existed. I've always been a huge skeptic when it came to the big picture of it all. I really didn't know if the things that were happening to me and the things I did had any meaning at all. That's why I find How I met your mother absolutely beautiful, it doesn't straight up tell you that "hey man everything is gonna be perfect in the end because your life is just a product of destiny" But instead it just shows you how much having hope in the worst of time matters. I love the fact that Ted Mosby is a hopeless romantic and he gets to find his "the one" His character made me fall in love with the idea of being head over heels crazy for one girl, I love that he is in love with the idea of being in love, but that's far from the point. I think I really resonate with Ted because of the sheer love he has for fate. It's not a rational thing to do, it doesn't make sense at all, and he knows it can be purely stupid at times, but he wouldn't give up when he's left with no options and has to turn to the universe to literally make it rain to end up with the girl he loves. I watch How I met your mother in sickness and in health, I watch it when I feel lost, I watch it when things just aren't right in my life, and I watch it when I'm hopelessly in love, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I'll always be grateful to it for making me who I am and inspiring me as an artist.

A personal reflection on how sitcoms can boost your social life
Tumblr media
Growing up, I never quite fit in with the crowd. While others effortlessly mingled and formed bonds, I often found solace in the world of sitcoms. From the nostalgic charm of "Lizzie McGuire" to the witty camaraderie of "How I Met Your Mother," "Friends," and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," these shows became more than entertainment—they became my companions in navigating the complexities of social interaction.
As a child, "Lizzie McGuire" was my go-to escape. It wasn’t just about the humorous mishaps of adolescence but also about feeling understood. Lizzie and her friends faced relatable challenges and triumphs, showing me that even in fictional worlds, social bonds are crucial. Fast forward to adulthood, and sitcoms like "How I Met Your Mother" and "Friends" have become my virtual social circle.
Sitcoms excel in depicting diverse personalities and dynamics, from quirky individualists to tight-knit friend groups. Watching Ted Mosby navigate the New York dating scene or witnessing the inseparable bond between the friends in Central Perk taught me valuable lessons in empathy, humor, and the art of creating connections. Each character’s quirks and struggles resonated with different aspects of my own social journey.
Laughter truly is contagious, and sitcoms provide a treasure trove of shared jokes and iconic moments. Whether it’s Chandler’s sarcastic one-liners, Barney’s elaborate schemes, or Jake Peralta’s childish antics, these comedic elements bridge gaps between viewers. Quoting favorite lines or discussing plot twists with fellow fans creates a sense of belonging—a shared language that sparks conversations and fosters friendships.
Despite being fictional, sitcoms mirror real-life scenarios. They tackle everything from love and heartbreak to career setbacks and personal growth. Witnessing characters navigate these challenges helps us understand our own experiences better. It’s comforting to know that even the most iconic sitcom characters stumble and learn along the way, just like we do in our own lives.
While sitcoms offer comfort and laughter, they also inspire action. They encourage us to step out of our comfort zones, initiate conversations, and embrace spontaneity. Whether it’s suggesting a trivia night at a local bar or organizing a themed costume party, sitcoms remind us that memorable moments often arise from unexpected adventures.
In a world where social interactions can be daunting, sitcoms provide a safe haven—a place where laughter reigns supreme and friendships flourish. From childhood escapades with Lizzie McGuire to navigating adulthood with the gang from Central Perk or the precinct in Brooklyn, these shows have enriched my life in ways I never imagined.
So, if you find yourself seeking connection or simply a good laugh, don’t underestimate the power of sitcoms. Embrace the humor, cherish the camaraderie, and let these beloved characters guide you through the ups and downs of your own social journey. Who knows? You might just find yourself quoting Chandler Bing or practicing the "Smelly Cat" song with newfound friends sooner than you think. After all, in the world of sitcoms and beyond, laughter truly is the best medicine for the soul.

@mecwmellc sent  ‘📝’ to see what plot i’d like to do with our muses.
Tumblr media
𝙱𝙰𝚁𝙽𝙴𝚈 : im throwing ted mosby your way bc the bro code. torture him all you like. give me the crazy nights doing things they shouldn't do, them having the craziest of ideas like they did in canon when they wanted to adopt a child and raise the child as their own. give me the angst in which ted is angry at barney for whatever reason, be it work related or love related. at the end of the day, they are best bros. im also throwing lily aldrin at u, bc the show didn't give us enough of them. imagine lily going to the stripper club to see her doppelganger and barney and her end up actually having fun. she's also going to help him when it comes to relationships just because she wants to see him settle down. shes also very competitive so having them compete in anything would be nice ( first thought was about laser tag, but it could be anything, really ). then there's robin scherbatsky who could be either his wingwoman or if you're up to see how their chemistry's going, his significant other. if u want angst, there's robin having to go back to canada and saying her goodbye's. or the unrequitted love for robin, in which she comes as rude / mean, whenever she sees barney doing yet another trick from his book.
𝚁𝙾𝙱𝙸𝙽 : i hate how stranger things gave us barb and robin who used to be best friends until nancy came up. what happened to them? how were they before? in this essay i will do what the duff brothers failed to. let's explore how they were friends. the sleepovers, the hanging out before all hell broke loose. what about robin confiding in barb about her sexuality and barb supporting her best friend ( and denying she might have other feelings for her ). gimmie the fights in which barb is trying to fight her own feelings which lead up to their friendship breakup. give me barb on the upside down being a flayed, controlled by the mind flayer, up until she sees robin there, possibly in danger. where's the proper ending for these two? let's give them that.
𝙼𝙸𝙰 : i haven't watched tpd in forever but i know mia has to go through a transformation? haley dunphy could help her do that. but she isn't exactly the right person to help the princess of genovia so they could have some fun. haley would become her assistant who's supposed to help mia get on the right track, but in reality she shows mia what she could be missing if she takes the role of the princess for her granny, instead of being her own person. i should rewatch tpd but if you want to explore smth among these lines, i'm all for it!
𝙿𝙴𝚃𝙴𝚁 : throwing harley quinn his way bc gal's reinventing herself. in this show im currently watching, she broke up with joker and is looking for her supervillain crew. and obviously, a superhero to fight. her archnemesis. so instead of choosing someone without powers, harley picks spidey man. she's most likely to come @ him and show him what she stole or threaten to do something. and lbr, it'd be a hilarious interaction.

Heres how i decide which side of an internet discourse is right or if it's completely useless all together
I imagine explaining the two or more sides of the discourse to someone from 2005 preferably ted mosby from the hit tv show how I met your mother and I'd imagine how he'd react
"So like there are these people who specifically look up pornography that has 2d children in it, jack off to it and claim that they're not pedophilic, what do you think Ted?"
"I'm in love with robin"
Btw i totally lied i don't spend this much time on deciding what side I'm on in stupid internet discourses i just follow the masses like the dirty little rat i am or just not bother to follow anything at all because it's really pointless
Not looking up pedophilia and incest tho, that's really pointfull

Ted Mosby Christmas Headcanons
Tumblr media
He loves the snow and completely romanticizes how beautiful New York City is in the winter but is also a total baby about the ice and having to walk in the freezing cold.
He does like when the two of you take walks together in the winter though, bundling up in hats and gloves and going down to 5th Avenue to check out the Christmas decorations.
There will be so much hand holding “for warmth” even with gloves on.
Sometimes when Ted gets up first in the morning he will wake you up with a mug of hot chocolate in bed and a kiss.
Ted Evelyn Mosby would be the king of ugly Christmas sweaters. Totally unironically too. He doesn’t think they’re ugly and can’t understand why the store had so many of them unsold.
Don’t worry he’s got your back and bought you a matching one too.
He wants to take your pictures in them to put on his Christmas cards. He asks so sweetly too you can’t really say no even though you know full well your friends are going to roast you for it.
When you’re decorating for the holidays he hangs mistletoe in the kitchen doorway for an excuse to kiss you as you pass by the room.
Ted would be the most thoughtful gift giver. He pays attention to what you say and keeps a mental checklist of possible gift ideas for you throughout the year for Christmas, your birthday, anniversaries, etc.
They are always very sweet, sentimental gifts not just random jewelry or something that almost no thought goes into.
His apartment will always be decorated to the nines for Christmas, lights, a tree, stockings, all the typical decorations, once you two move into the house he bought outside of the city he will go so overboard with the Christmas decorations.
He would be the dad/husband who has to have the most decorated house in the neighborhood. Even if he almost falls off the roof for the first couple of years putting up the lights.
Full on Clark Griswold vibes from this man.
Also this man is a total Christmas tree snob. It has to be a real tree even though you remind him that a real tree requires the two of you to carry it up the stairs of your apartment building.
At the tree lot he will have to go through and look at every single tree twice before he finally decides on one he deems perfect. He claims his architect's eye means he can pick out the “perfect” tree for your apartment.
When you two move into the house though he will want to cut down his own tree the first year. He threw out his back swinging the axe too hard though and the two of you go back to buying your trees from a lot.
Imagine the Christmas celebrations with his family?!
His mom and her new husband Clint offering you weed before dinner, his midlife crisis having dad being low key creepy, his sister taking Clint up on the weed and trying to convince you to come clubbing with her for New Years.
It is wild.
The two of you probably duck out as soon as desert is over for the sake of everyone’s sanity.
At the end of the night he just wants to curl up with you on the couch with a bowl of popcorn and watch It’s a Wonderful Life together.
He knows all the words and always whispers the part about lassoing the moon in your ear.

Hey! I've been rewatching HIMYM recently and honestly Professer Ted is just. Yes. So like maybe something about being in his class and finding each other cute and him trying to impress the reader? Tysm :)
(A/N): I’m so happy to be able to write for Ted! Thank you so much for the request, I hope what I wrote will reach your expectations <3
Tumblr media
You were sitting at the front of the class, exchanging a few words with a friendly classmate of yours when he walked in. You didn't turn towards him at first, barely noticing him writing something on the board from the corner of your eyes, and it's when your classmate signified you that the class is about to start that you set your eyes on him.
'Oh, he's cute.' You think just as he turns around, revealing nervous but kind brown eyes and a small smile. You read off the words 'Professor Mosby' on the board behind him just as he takes a pile of papers from his suitcase and passes them around.
You can't help but wonder what his first name is.
"Hello, everyone, I'm-" He shows off what he wrote with a proud movement of his arm, his lips stretch out into a smile. "-Professor Ted Mosby. I'll be your teacher for this semester."
'Ted, huh?' You suddenly have the feeling that it's gonna be a great semester, feeling the excitement rising inside your chest.
"Now, since this is the first class, I'm gonna be reading out your names to try to learn them." He picks out a list of some kind from his desk, clearing his throat before he starts reading off your classmates' names. He takes the time to look at each and every one of them when they say 'here', writing down something whenever someone seems to be absent. As he gets close and closer to your name, you start to feel as if you were on the edge of your seat, still playing with your pencil with a new sense of the word 'anticipation'.
"(Y/F/N)?"
You raise your pen in the air, the tip of your fingers tingling when he sets his eyes on you. "Here."
"(Y/N)..." He seems to be taken aback for a moment as he blinks, a genuine smile coming to his lips soon after. "... Hi."
You feel your smile stretch out, your eyes sparkling as you gently bite into your pencil. "Hi, Ted."
Your friendly classmate next to you snickers at how bold you are to call him by his first name, you being entirely focused on the fact that your professor now seems to be flustered by your simple action. He gives out a nervous chuckle, his mouth opening and closing for a while. He seems to wanna say something to you, then rapidly gives it up to simply move on to name the rest of your classmates. That just makes you find him even cuter than before, especially when he starts sparing you a few looks every now and then. He starts cracking up a few jokes while he goes through the synopsis of his class with you all, his eyes always looking in your direction to see if you're laughing.
"So you'll have a project due on the 29th of October-" He stops when he sees you raise your hand, his voice shaking for a split second. "U-um... Yes, (Y/N)?"
"Will there be a way for us to contact you outside of class?" Your lips stretch out when you notice his eyes sparkling up. "You know... In case we have any questions."
"Well... my email and phone number are at the front page..." He gives out a smile, his eyes trying to look at your other classmates before they go back to you. "And we can always schedule a private meeting if you need to."
"Great." You lean back against your chair, grinning. "I'll probably take you up on that."
“Al…” He starts stuttering the same syllable for a while, making a few students exchanging grins. “Alright then… so! As I was saying-”
You stay silent and listen to him explain the rest with a wide smile on your lips, internally admiring how easily the words seem to pour out of his mouth while he manages to be funny and charismatic about a freaking syllabus. You’ve never been so interested in what a teacher was saying, nor have you ever been so interested in a teacher at all… and you don’t mind at all.
“Goodbye, Professor Mosby!”
He gives out a smile to each student who tells him goodbye before leaving the room, his hands putting his things back inside his suitcase. He looks up just as you pass by him, your fingers giving him a small wave as you walk away.
“See you next week, Ted.”
He gives out a wide nervous grin, his eyes sweetening for a small moment. “See you next week, (Y/N).”
You’re not the only one who found someone cute that day.

Watching someone you cared about go through heartbreak after heartbreak was never easy.
It was even worse when you were one of the ones that went through heartbreak because of him.
You and Ted had given a relationship a go when you first moved out to New York from the UK, a year long relationship wasn’t easy to forget but Ted ended it with you for another girl.
The gang didn’t think you were in the wrong, and kept you around because they’d become friends with you but being around them didn’t help anything with Ted.
Of course, you still cared about him and that may not have been the best thing for you but ya couldn’t let him go through everything he was going through.
Lily had told you that Ted had been broken up with by his most recent girlfriend, and you weren’t too sure what to do with that information.
A part of you wanted to go and help him, but you were his ex-girlfriend.
The other part of you wanted to ward him off from being an idiot.
It wasn’t a surprise to find Ted sat in the booth at MacLaren’s.
He only looked up from the beer he had been nursing when you slid into the seat opposite him.
“I really didn’t expect to see you here,” he told you as he grasped the bottle.
“I wish I could say the same for you.”
He tilted his head in confusion, causing you to shrug.
“You are a guy of habit Ted. Always have been, and most likely always will be. All of us know that when you get dumped, you come down here, nurse a couple beers for a few hours or so and then wander back up to your apartment.”
He shook his head before taking a swig of beer. “Why do you care anyway? I left you.”
You scoffed. “Oh, believe me. I remember. But you want to know why I’m here? I’m here to tell you to forget about that girl.”
“So that I’ll get back together with you?”
“No, you idiot,” you stated with annoyance in your tone. “Because you are constantly setting yourself up to get dumped. Sure, I still care for you but not in the way I did before. You broke my heart Ted, but that doesn’t mean I want to watch you constantly get yours broken.”
He decided against answering you, taking another swig of his beer.
“As much as I hate to see you going through this. I’m not going to be able to help you. You’ve got to help yourself.”
He scoffed, shaking his head at you. “There’s nothing wrong with me Y/N.”
“Keep telling yourself that.”
He stayed silent for a few moments, staring down at his bottle, before turning his gaze back to you. “I’m never going to be better off alone though.”
You shrugged, standing up and looking down at him. “Have you ever tried?”
