This menu includes some of the most popular Asian curries. Perfect for those who enjoy spicy flavours. Asian cuisine is my second favourite after Indian. The fresh flavours and bold taste is admirable. What I also like is that it’s very variable. There are options for vegans, vegetarians and meat lovers that are equally delicious. The dishes usually have a good balance of proteins, veggies and…

Househusband Kureishi Headcanons!
wc: 1,550 Happy birthday, Mitsuyo!! The more I see of him, the more I swoon and fall in love. One of the newest additions to my Kengan Husbands tier. ^0^ Who are the rest? Well...you will find out soon.
WARNINGS: - mostly gender-neutral s/o, mentions of pussy, gendered spousal terms, creampie mention, breeding mention
As per Strike it Rich chapter 39, this man is a smooth talker. If he can freely call other ladies beautiful, what more with the person he’s decided to spend the rest of his life with? Gives you compliments anytime, anywhere. He is so shameless about it, too
Gives you cute nicknames (sweetie, sweetheart, darling, wifey), and said nickname is also your name in his contacts list. When you’re calling, he will definitely make some buzz about it, whether he’s massaging someone’s joints in his orthopedic clinic, training Cosmo and Adam (or Nozomi, Nozomin as he calls her, from ISSK) in his dojo, or just hanging out with Joji.
Kureishi: Oho, what’s this? My sweetheart is calling me, excuse me~ (He earns eye rolls from Adam and chuckles from Cosmo and Nozomi)
Joji: Your wife/husband/partner never hits you. I’m jealous, Kureishi.
Maybe I’m too woke but I HATE how Joji’s domestic abuse and eye-scratch scar are played for laughs because it’s done by his wife each time he comes home from drinking T.T Anyway…
He WILL help out with all the household chores and offer to do them for you. His favorite chore is ironing clothes.
When he sees you already doing chores, he will always offer to take over. Afterwards, he gives you a massage: his expertise! This man canonically has many certificates not just for being a great martial artist, but also for being a skilled chiropractor. You get Japan’s best chiropractor to give you massages…for free!
If you put him in charge of cooking, he’s going to have a bias towards cooking and serving his own favorite food: curry. After a while of just curry rice, though, he learns to cook different varieties of curry like Thai Curry and Filipino Curry (Kare-Kare), among others.
Compared to his gladiator/fighting arena days in Fist of the Seeker, he’s really mellowed out and will continue to be just as chill in marriage. His “bone-breaking fetish” is purely towards opponents and people he deems dangerous to his loved ones (though he *does* feel some tingles when massaging you and hearing some joints or bones crack. Don’t worry. Unlike before where he’d just “rub one out” in the shower, he’ll kindly ask you to help him with his “problem”, should it get “bigger and harder”.)
Will only “revert” back to his old ways when he has to beat up someone who wronged you. He was protective of Koga, again, what more with his life partner?
Loves wrapping his arms around your waist from behind and resting his chin on your head (or shoulder if you’re taller) and barraging you with compliments while doing so.
“You smell so good, as always.”, “You’re so cute, so beautiful/handsome.”, “How’d I get so lucky?”, “God, I love you so much.”
Never really thought he’d settle down, given his gladiator past and current background (famous national mixed martial artist/coach and awarded chiropractor). Many have tried, but he either found them shallow, or he just didn’t have the time due to his busy schedule given that he’s got two jobs.
Bought a house after you two got engaged. His apartment days were over the moment you passed 2 years of dating. He was already looking to buy a house and just never told you.
Money was and will never be a problem. Years after the events of FOTS, he’s likely earned quite a bit of cash given that he’s now famous all over Japan as a martial artist and chiropractor. Never had anything else to spend on besides equipment and maintenance of his dojo and clinic, which are in adjacent buildings (to maximize the space and minimize the cost of maintenance and travel). Because of this, he loves spoiling you and getting you little trinkets that you mentioned in passing liking, or outright expensive things you request for. A Rilakkuma teddy bear? Noted. Vivienne Westwood designer goods? Noted as well. Be careful what you randomly say, he WILL end up buying it later. (“Hey, this one looks cool/cute!”, pretends to not notice).
He (most likely) lives in TOKYO! His dojo and clinic are canonically located in Ochanomizu and he most likely lives within the area, too. Living expenses in Tokyo are insane, a rough estimate being 158,000 yen (over 1000 USD, or 60,000 PHP in my currency). Trust me when I say your future is secure with Mitsuyo.
Not really much of a drinker and only drinks on occasion, unlike his old pal Joji. Perhaps during anniversaries, special holidays, or birthdays. He always advises his orthopedic clinic patients to not drink booze and opt for water instead (Danberu Chapter 21), so you bet he’ll do his best to apply the advice he always gives them to himself.
Will ease off the teasing in the honeymoon stages of your marriage (he’s in the “Swooning, I can’t believe this is my reality now”-rose-tinted shades phase) but goes back to it after a few months or so.
Being the youngest of five siblings, he’s probably gotten tasked with looking after nieces and nephews. I like to think this is one of the reasons he’s a natural at teaching. Because of this, he has never-ending patience. Need help with improving at any chore? He’s got you covered. Prepare for a lot of teasing when he’s teaching you, though. He loves getting a rise out of you. When you’ve reached a “boiling” point, he kisses you on the forehead, cheek, or lips, depending on the severity.
“My sweetheart, so cute, even when you’re angry. Even when your brows are almost one because of how much you’re scowling . I love you so much ♥. (PUNCH HIM!!! You try; he catches your fist and chuckles before kissing it. HE IS INSUFFERABLE!!!)
Related to above, is experienced with kids. Definitely wants lots of them. Proposes to outdo his older siblings and have four or five children. Is excited to get to the point of your married life where you get to call each other “Mama”, “Papa”, “Mommy”, or “Daddy”.
“How is Mama doing today, hmmm ♥?”, “Mitsu…really…?” “No, no, you should be saying “Papa” ♥”
Your kid: “Papa, Papa! I want—” Kureishi: “Hmmhmm, ask Mama/Daddy/Mommy ♡”
Your kid: “Papa, can I go outside to play?” Kureishi: “Mm, I don’t know, can you?”
Teases his kids too, but his favorite person to tease will always be you.
If you can have biological children, they will have his natural pink hair. Sorry. (I refuse!! the anime’s color choice!!! PINK-HAIRED KUREISHI is the only valid Kureishi!)
NSFW
Has gotten around before dating you, mostly short flings, never anything too long-term because of his busy schedule.
Sex…in his chiropractor uniform. Have you SEEN how tightly snug that damn uniform is on him? It’s like he’s doing it on purpose. His muscles and chest are ready to burst out at the seams. He’s definitely closed up shop early or heck, spontaneously to fuck you on his massage table.
Sometimes (around a 50/50 chance. THAT kind of sometimes), massages can lead to sex, it’s up to you if you want to stop his advances or let him continue. He can’t help himself—he loves you too much.
You’re lying on your chest, eyes closed and smiling, thinking today is a normal Mitsuyo Massage Day…and then as he’s massaging your back, he snakes his arm under and fondles your chest, his calloused fingers playing with your nipples. Well. Looks like you were wrong today.
HATES being belittled. Ask him “Is that all you got?”, “Can you go any slower?”, “Is this it?”, “Are you really a martial artist?” and you will open the (white) flood gates. You WILL get folded in half, you WILL get creampied many times, and you WILL not walk for weeks. He will NOT massage you afterwards to teach you a lesson. During these times, aftercare will mostly consist of kisses and praises.
“Hmm?? It hurts? Well, that’s what brats like you get ♡.” *kisses u*
Holds your hand during sex and loves brushing his thumb over your wedding ring. It’s mark and proof that you’re his. (though he does love marking you inside, too)
I WILL make everyone have breeding kinks and LOVE the mating press!!!
Can go for many rounds. He’s a martial artist, what do you expect? Him being in his mid-thirties isn’t an obstacle, either.
A good 6.5-7 inches, not too girthy, but can give you a good stretch. Cum taste ranges from nothing to just a bit salty, making it easy to swallow despite the slight thick texture.
His crushing grip on your thighs, legs, waist, or hips leaves bruises. He does that on purpose. He doesn’t want to break his beloved’s bones, but he does want to leave marks.
Pussy-eating expert!!! Never gets exhausted and will never complain about his tongue being tired or numb. RIDE HIS FACE and he will be a happy man. No such thing as too heavy for this martial artist.
Overall: amazing husband, amazing sex skills, ALWAYS knows what he’s saying and doing. 1000/10

This Week in BL - Taiwan has one show, but that's all they need
Organized, in each category, with ones I'm enjoying most at the top.
April 2024 Wk 1

Ongoing Series - Thai
Two Worlds (Thurs IQIYI) ep 4 of 10 - I don’t say this often but I LOVE this love triangle. The longing gazes = chef's kiss. I like that we are finally getting flashbacks to Tai’s side of the love affaire. This show remains highly engaging. So pleased for MaxNat.
Deep Night (Thurs iQiyi) ep 5 of 8 - More lesbians! Yay! Meanwhile, when our leads make up they make out! (Yes I’m proud of myself.) I think this might be BLs first rooftop sex scene. We’ve reached new heights, BLabies. (Yes I’m proud of that too.) Anygay, basically a soap opera at this point, I'm not thrilled but I don’t mind.

"Do you apologize for being straight?"
City of Stars (Fri iQIYI) ep 10 of 12 - It was lovely. Very well done celebrity leaving the closet ep. Nice ensemble work too. Next week is doom! As expected.
Only Boo! (Sun YouTube) ep 1 of 12 - New main couple for GMMTV in an idol romance about a boy who dances good and a food stand vendor. It’s fine but overly very pulp feeling for something from GMMTV. I'm a little concerned.
1000 Years Old (Thurs iQIYI) ep 8 of 12 - meh.
To Be Continued (Sat C3 Thailand grey) ep 7 of 8 - Never turned up on my usual sites. So will have to wait until next week.

Ongoing Series - Not Thai
Unknown (Taiwan Tues YouTube & Viki) ep 7 of 11 - Qian was, indeed, the one who couldn’t let go. This show is fucking fantastic. It's the best thing I'm watching right now by a mile.
Jazz for Two (Korea Gaga/grey) eps 3-8fin - The bully and the blue-haired drummer side pairing were great. I hated the father. Hated him so much. Our main tsundere seme was a bit too tsundere for me. I was v annoyed by the time he finally softened. I'm amused by all the ways they finagled boys kissin-but-not-kissing in the first half of this show. 2024's "pan around the back of the head" has now become a "dipping of the brolly." We did, however, eventually get an okay kiss.
Honestly?
This was basically what I wanted from Given and didn’t get. So I’m pleased. The music still wasn't great, but you can skip those bits. A solid enemies to lovers BL, where the sins of brothers' past haunts the present. Great optics, decent chemistry, and a tidy script even if tsundere characterization went a bit extreme in some cases. 8/10 RECOMMENDED trigger for suicide
Love is Better the Second Time Around AKA Koi wo Suru nara Nidome ga Joto (Japan Weds Gaga) ep 5 of 6 - We got the past betrayal in detail and it was decently bad. Bitterness understood. Too soon to live together! The BL U-Haul strikes again. I do like their weird curry passive aggressive argument. This is an interesting show. Do I LOVE it? No. But I think I like it.
On a not-really-related note: adoption, including adult adoption, is actually pretty common in Japan (comparatively). It's often tied to business scionism.
My Strawberry Film (Japan Thurs Gaga) ep 8fin - It all turned out to be a tragic GL in the end. Not BL = not my problem. No rating. I will forget its existence right about… now.
Love is like a Cat (Korea Mon Viki) eps 1-2 of 12 - Okay, weirdly kinky with the head scratching. Not much has happened and I’m not wild about what has.
It's done, ready to binge, but I suck
What Did You Eat Yesterday Season 2 AKA Kinou Nani Tabeta? Season 2 (Japan Gaga) 10 eps
It's airing but...
We Are (Weds GMMTV iQIYI) ep 1 of 16 - University ensemble BL featuring PondPhuwin, WinnySatang, AouBoom, MarcPawinPoon - basically the good kind of messy gay friendship group (so more My Engineer and less Only Friends). Looks a bit like the Kiss series but everyone is queer. I'm IN but I need my other computer and I'm traveling as usual. So I'll get caught up next week and probably won't regularly be able to watch this one.
Graduation Countdown (Taiwan YouTube) - It's too much for me to keep up with 2 minute verticals, I don't have that kind of TikTok endurance training.
A Secretly Love (Thai Sat WeTV grey) 10 eps - Completed. Worth watching?
Lady Boy Friends (Thai WeTV grey) 16 eps - reminds me a bit too much of Diary of Tootsies only high school. Not my thing. DNF unless it turns a corner and is truly amazing.
Kiseki Chapter 2 (Sun iQIYI) 6 eps - It’s so boring DNFed at 2.
Close Friend Season 3: Soju Bomb! (Weds iQIYI) 6 - The problem with situational comedy BL is it must be situational, comedic and a BL. This show gets 1 of 3 claims correct. 33% is not a passing grade. Dropped at 3.
In the news
Takumi-kun Series 6: Nagai Nagai Monogatari is getting the undeserved honor of Furritsubs. Follow them for details. Tip 'em if you like 'em. (Will I watch it? Oh, probably. Damn it.)
Then Next Prince turned out to be a trailer only. Word on the webs is we will be lucky if we get it this year. It’s BL Princess Diaries. Jimmy has a new pairing (that boy from Night Dream) which is... interesting. All in all, this show does not look good. Pretty but not good.
Next Week Looks Like This:
4/11 Gray Shelter AKA Gray Currents (Korea ????) 4 eps - SooHyuk is only just surviving and reunites with YoonDae, an old friend. They end up living together. One of the leads is played by Choco of Choco Milk Shake.
4/12 Living With Him AKA Kare no Iru Seikatsu (Japan Gaga) 10 eps - Kindly Ryota goes off to uni only to find his new roommate is his childhood bestie, Kazuhito. Kazuhito doesn’t have a girlfriend and Ryota tries to help him figure out why, they fall in love along the way. Same director as Old Fashion Cupcake.
Still to Come in April
4/18 At 25:00, in Alaska AKA 25 Ji, Akasaka de (Japan Gaga) 10 eps - Yuki lands his first starring role in a BL drama alongside superstar Asami (previously his senior at uni). Said superstar suggests they form a sham relationship until filming concludes. As they actually begin to fall in love, the spotlight begins to burn. I think I've seen this before (joke) and also the trailer doesn't inspire confidence.
4/26 My Stand-In (Thai iQIYI) 12 eps - adaptation of Chinese novel "Professional Body Double" by Shui Qiang Cheng. Stars Up (Lovely Writer) and Poom (Bake Me Please) directed by the same team as KP (not a recommendation IMHO - my biggest criticism of that show was the clashing directing styles). This one looks well complicated, lemme try: Joe is a stuntman for famous actor Tong. Joe falls in love with Ming but Ming sees Joe as nothing more than a Tong-replacement. After learning this horrible truth, Joe dies. Joe then wakes up in the body of another man also named Joe. He manages to rebuild the same life as before—with the same people eventually re-meeting Ming. Ming wants Joe back but Joe doesn't understand why. But Ming seems to know what's going on and wants to give him some kind of explanation.
I'm exhausted just trying to describe the plot.
Knock-Knock Boys (Thai WeTV) - 4 college friends conspire to help their friend lose his virginity. Familiar faces like Seng (yes, Billy's previous partner) and Best, news here.
Upcoming BLs for 2024 are listed here. This list is not kept updated, so please leave a comment if you know something new or RP with additions.
NOTE: It looks like one of my personal favorites of last year Unintentional Love Story is getting a spin off!
THIS WEEK’S BEST MOMENTS
See City of Stars & Unknown.
(Last week)
Streaming services are listed by how I (usually) watch, which is with a USA based IP, and often offset by a day because time zones are too much work.

Hi! Hope you don’t mind my dropping in. I just read let the world have its way with you and thank you I had to sniff back tears on the plane it was so lovely 🥺😍. Question, and if you’ve answered this before I’m so sorry but I just have to know: how did Buck react when inevitably he sees the photos taken of him and Eddie at Halloween? Thank you again for this fic and I’m sending you all the good vibes of an unexpected humpback whale breech.
hello!!!! thank you so much for dropping in to say these lovely things!!! to answer your question: yes, a bunch of people have asked this actually, but no, i’ve never had a reply until now ! your message sparked something haha so here you go, have a little bucket list fic timestamp:
a thousand times (which isn’t half enough)
buck/eddie | 2k | t
“Oh, ow, what the fuck,” Buck says, wincing as he snatches back his hand.
Eddie glares at him, no hint of remorse while he crumples the dish towel he just whipped Buck’s fingers with before putting his hands on his hips in that perfectly bitchy way he’s got down to an art. “I’m supposed to be doing the cooking, I’m the one who’s actually made this before,” he tells Buck, stepping forward to stir the curry and jostling Buck out of the way. “You’re sous chef today.”
“And this is in no way an objection to that kitchen hierarchy, or a criticism of your cooking capabilities,” Buck says, hands up pacifyingly, “but Eddie. I’ve eaten this enough times at Ravi’s to know this is, uh, nowhere close to the colour it’s meant to be.”
“What do you mean,” Eddie frowns, stirring and peering down into the large saucepan, dent in the side courtesy of Buck’s clumsiness nearly half a decade ago. “It’s a—process. A culinary journey. I’m sure it’ll be the right colour when we’re done. It just needs some time.”
“Eddie, it’s green.”
“Plenty of curries are green. Thai green curry, it’s even got it in the name.”
“Eddie,” Buck says, trying not to laugh at the disgruntled furrow in Eddie’s brow, “I don’t think Ravi’s traditional beef curry is supposed to be green at any stage.”
Eddie’s face scrunches as he squints down at the curry he’s stirring, thick and aromatic and unexpectedly pea-soup coloured.
“Oh God,” he says, staring at the spoonful he’s ladled out. “You’re right. Fuck. How the fuck did it get to—this? Fuck, Bobby and Athena are gonna be here in—” He glances at the wall clock, “—an hour, oh my God, Buck, that’s not enough time to fix this.”
Buck rolls his eyes, hip-checking Eddie in a way he hopes is comforting but not bothering to try and ease any of Eddie’s—quite frankly ridiculous—anxiety about seeing Bobby socially for the first time since the engagement.
He knows the nervousness stems entirely from the fact that Eddie didn’t ask Bobby for his blessing before proposing to Buck, which he’s teased Eddie for endlessly, declaring it old-fashioned and archaic even if there’s something achingly sweet about the intentions with which Eddie went into it.
It did not end up prefacing their engagement. Apparently Eddie’d been testing the waters, gearing up to propose when he hoped the moment was right. Except, then, one night on the couch, watching telenovela reruns, Buck had made an offhand comment about the bride on-screen taking her husband’s last name despite being of the girlboss variety one might expect not to, and how in context it was a win for cheesy romance but maybe a hiccup for some kind of feminism somewhere.
And Eddie, one arm curled around Buck from behind, scratching at his stomach gently as he spoke, had sleepily and thoroughly unintentionally mumbled, “Would you wanna do that with me?”
Buck had blinked and asked what, and Eddie’d yawned and said, “Take my last name.”
Buck had laughed through the want and said, “Careful, Diaz, you might give a guy the idea that he’s being proposed to.”
And Eddie went stiff behind him for a full five seconds, Buck not daring to breathe either, before wrapping his other arm around Buck too, kiss to his temple and a quiet, “And if that was the idea intended?”
And so they’d gotten engaged and had to get the couch dry-cleaned and Eddie was made to pass on his well-meaning, antiquated desire to profess his intentions to Bobby prior to the actual proposal. Which is fine, obviously, but they’ve been engaged just going on three weeks and Bobby and Athena are coming around for dinner, and that, on top of committing himself to captaining an unfamiliar culinary adventure—something decidedly not in the Eddie Diaz wheelhouse—has Eddie strung the fuck out, mild and amusing as it may be.
“Okay, uh, I’m just gonna look at the original recipe again, not the one Ravi altered for white people,” Eddie says, looking around. “Can you get it? Phone’s charging in the bedroom, I think it should just be in the media roll of my chat with Ravi, he sent me a photo of his grandmother’s recipe book.”
“His grandma’s? What did you do to gain access to his family recipes? I feel like I should be jealous.”
“We exchanged abuela secret recipes,” Eddie shrugs. “You already have a direct open line of communication with my grandmother. I think you text her more than me.”
This is true; Isabel is a formidable opponent in online Scrabble and likes to get Buck’s thoughts on the weekly MasterChef episode. She’s his family as much as Eddie’s, and Buck was just teasing anyway, but he skips to their bedroom with a pleased grin nonetheless.
Eddie’s phone is nearly fully charged, so he just unplugs it, typing Ravi’s name into the message app search bar. A few clicks and then he’s snorting at the last image Ravi sent Eddie: a meme of Steve Buscemi saying how do you do, fellow kids? with a rainbow flag Photoshopped over the skateboard he’s carrying. Ravi’s succinctly captioned it, “you,” and Eddie has thumbs-downed it without deigning to respond.
Buck scrolls through the media roll quickly, scanning the images for something that resembles a recipe book or an old lady’s handwriting. It’s mostly memes, some goofy photos of each other taken on one of their phones during slow shifts, and—that’s a picture of Buck. Two pictures of Buck.
He pauses, frowning at the adjacent squares in the media roll. It’s not that it’s unexpected that Eddie and Ravi would have photos of Buck, it’s just—Buck’s usually seen them, too. He has most definitely not seen these pictures.
He clicks on the first one, feeling almost nervous. And, oh. It’s from Halloween the year before last, when everyone else was sick and he and Eddie went to that big gay party. He’s in his Sandy get-up, looking—pretty slutty, actually. He hums appreciatively, re-experiencing the leather pants and crop top and heels. In the photo, his eyes are shut, head tilted back to the music, cheeks pink and red-painted lips ajar. And then he takes in the other side of the photo.
Eddie, watching Buck through the crowd not unlike a lion zeroing in on a gazelle. His mouth is parted too, but—his eyes. It’s like he’s undressing Buck right there in public with just his gaze. Jesus, it’s like he’s doing so much more than undressing him—Buck half-expects the picture to swirl into motion, see Eddie stride across the dance floor and bend Buck over in front of everyone present.
It's not a wholly unfamiliar expression now, to Buck who’s had Eddie like this for over a year, but this was from before they were together. This was before Buck knew Eddie wanted him in any way but platonic. And even then, the kind of raw, unmasked desire plastered across Eddie’s face? Like he wants to swallow Buck whole and keep him there, inside Eddie, close as possible, for the rest of time? That’s the kind of intensity Eddie only reveals on occasion, a vulnerability that’s a certain effort to access.
That doesn’t mean Eddie holds back or censors himself in their sex lives, not anymore, not for a long time now. It’s just—this is the kind of want that comes from a place without adequate words to communicate it, a near animal desperation that’s taxing for the everyday.
And here it is, unmistakeable, before Buck even knew. Eddie, so good at the suppression and the repression in that era, unable to escape the honesty of his hunger with just one look.
Buck swallows and adjusts himself in his pants.
The second picture is—oh. It’s of him and Eddie dancing during the Grease song, when Eddie had held him close and dipped Buck like he’d been doing it all his life. It’s—oh. He can’t believe Eddie’s not shown him this one before, because—there’s so much love contained inside this photograph, he can feel it seeping out of the phone and into his hands, liquid sunshine.
Buck’s head is thrown back, face scrunched in delighted laughter, and Eddie’s so close, beaming at him with nothing short of adoration. It’s pouring out of him, clear as day, the happiness in this single photo a tangible thing even over a year later.
Buck kind of wants to urge the him in the picture to open his eyes, see the way Eddie’s looking at him. But then again, the way Eddie looked at him didn’t really change, before and after. So maybe he wouldn’t have clocked it as anything other than Eddie’s everyday love, so far from the romance column in his own tangled-up brain at the time it wouldn’t have mattered.
He wanders back to the kitchen, swiping back to the first photo. Heat licks its way up his spine, uncaring of the fact that they have dinner guests and no time for this. He slouches in the kitchen doorway, watching Eddie chop cilantro carefully.
“What?” Eddie frowns. “I’m in a crisis, Buck, don’t look at me like that, it’s not helpful.”
Buck clears his throat. “Like what?”
“Like you’re eyefucking me so hard I might undergo immaculate conception.”
Buck can’t focus on the nearly painfully arousing implications of that, but never let it be said his horniness surpasses—rightful—indignation. “Me?” he asks incredulously. “Eyefucking you? That’s fucking rich, considering the contents of these.” He waves Eddie’s phone at him for emphasis.
“What’s that,” Eddie asks impatiently. “Where’s my recipe?”
“Oh,” Buck says. “I didn’t actually get that far.”
Eddie makes a noise of irritation, washing his hands and reaching out for his phone. “What the hell have you been—oh.”
“Yeah, oh,” Buck says. “How come you’ve never shown me these before?”
Eddie flushes, even more than the heat of the kitchen can take credit for. “I dunno. I guess I just look so… I dunno.”
“So in love with me?” Buck asks, mouth quirking up on one side. He steps forward, wraps his arms around Eddie’s waist.
Eddie sighs, listing forward in Buck’s grasp. “I mean—yeah. I guess I was just thrown by how obvious the, I don’t know, enormity of my—the way I felt about you was. And by the time I was okay with it—the enormity and the obviousness—I kinda forgot about these.”
Buck turns his head, pressing a kiss to Eddie’s hairline. Eddie lifts his face, searching for Buck’s mouth with his own, and Buck happily obliges, kissing him gently.
“Well, I’m sending these to myself,” Buck informs him, “and then we’re getting the second one framed and hung up in our room.”
“Is that the less horny one?” Eddie asks.
“They’re both plenty horny,” Buck says, “but yeah. Marginally less.”
“Fine,” Eddie allows. “But it will be subject to temporary removal if and when my parents come stay.”
“Deal,” Buck agrees, and then leans back in to kiss Eddie again.
He uses his grip on Eddie’s waist to steer them back, caging Eddie against the counter and lining his body flush along the length of Eddie’s, thigh to hip to chest. Eddie sighs contentedly, hand sneaking under the back of Buck’s shirt to splay across his bare skin. His jeans have a delicious heavy-weight friction to them, and Buck tries to angle himself so he can rock against Eddie lazily. He opens his own mouth under Eddie’s, trying valiantly to deepen the kiss, have Eddie lick into him hot and sweet, but Eddie pulls back.
“The curry,” he says mournfully. “Bobby and Athena.”
Buck groans, taking the edge off it by leaning in to kiss the corner of Eddie’s mouth. “You are so overthinking this Bobby thing. I’m not a woman in the early 1900s. Bobby’s technically not even my—”
“He is, though,” Eddie interrupts. “As far as it matters.”
“Okay,” Buck agrees, because that’s true. “But why are you so hung up on being old-school traditional here?”
Eddie huffs. “Sometimes tradition is good. It’s not like I’d have been asking permission to marry you, just. Wanting to have his—I don’t know.”
“Okay, well, I’m not some blushing bride.” Buck kisses the other corner of Eddie’s mouth, making it quirk up into a smile.
“Debatable,” he murmurs, and Buck pinches him at his waist. He squirms, grinning.
“We’re getting married,” Buck tells him, and Eddie lights up so incandescently Buck thinks even the Halloween photograph doesn’t know such happiness. “Bobby’s really happy for us. A curry’s not gonna change any of that.”
“I know,” Eddie says, sighs. “This is just the first time since—I just really wanted to show him I can be good for you, too.”
Buck gapes at him. “Are you—Eddie. Are you serious?”
Eddie shrugs one shoulder, looking embarrassed. Buck takes a step back so he can grab both Eddie’s hands in his own.
“I’m not even gonna—mention the bucket list,” he says, “but Eddie. Eddie. Why do you think Bobby made us partners in the first place?”
Eddie huffs a laugh, but it’s a real one. “I know, okay, but this just—we’re getting married, Buck.”
“And watch him take credit for it in his wedding speech,” Buck says.
Eddie smiles at him, but the underlying current of nerves is still thrumming, visible to Buck a step away.
“Okay,” he says, one final kiss to the centre of Eddie’s mouth. Eddie chases it when he pulls away, but he stands firm. “Let’s save this curry and the sanctity of our marriage to-be. Tomorrow, though, tomorrow, you’re putting on the greaser jeans and fucking me into the mattress.”
Eddie snorts, cheeks pink again. “Sounds like a plan.” He opens his phone, searching for the original recipe.
The ingredients are read aloud, and when Buck swings shut the fridge door as he confirms them, the faded yellow list pinned with a star-shaped magnet looks back at him, ready to have scribbled-out number 5 ticked off completely, wholly, permanently. Buck’s already there with start a family, but get married? He doesn’t think he could’ve imagined it being as good as this.
And if this piece of paper accompanies them to the courthouse, actual marriage certificate second in importance, that’s for him and Eddie to know, because the list doesn’t end, but God, does it feel good to live through it.

Do u or Mr Haitch have any favourite recipes? I've been expanding my repertoire lately (made my first rhubarb crumble on Saturday!!! Thank you Nigella Lawson) and I'm curious as to what you and the hubs enjoy
I personally am a total whore for a creamy pasta dish, and I make a sauce with cream, garlic, fresh chillies, and parmesan for tagliatelle.
I also make a beef and ale stew with lean beef, carrots, and Guinness. Add fresh bread and butter and it's the comfort food of the gods.
I would leap through fire for a fish finger (fish stick?) sandwich with loads of tartare sauce, and thick white bread and butter.
r.e. regular dinners we cook at home (for the kids), we do a lot of Japanese and Korean dishes. The kids are mad for Katsu curries. They also adore @mrhaitch when he makes chilli. My macaroni cheese, or daddy's carbonara. My ramen or daddy's Mexican sausage and bean stew.
@mrhaitch loves Cajun, Mexican or Thai dishes, he's big on the heat. He makes a lush jambalaya. He can reblog and input if it tempts him.
We cook almost all our meals from scratch, including chicken nuggets and things. Because our sons are tall and feral and never stop eating.
Love, and hungry now,
-- Haitch xxx

recipe testing sounds like a really cool thing to do! do you ever get recipes that just, like, blow you away or where you're like well that one is getting added to the regular rotation! or is it mostly recipes you send back adjustments or suggestions to?
recipe testing is really fun actually. i like getting to try new things and techniques and then getting to think about why a recipe either works or doesn't. i haven't encountered any recipes that have become regular additions yet, but that's not uncommon in this stage of the process. the recipes i test are far from their final form, so i'm usually not interested in making them again in that incarnation.
however... the best time i had recipe testing was when i worked a couple years ago on a vietnamese cookbook (i was not paid, just volunteering ftr) and spent a whole summer making curries, fried fish, roasted pork belly, and bahn mi bread. i had a couple of spectacular failures, as one always does when testing, but everything was so delicious that curry (in all its different forms, thai, vietnamese, japanese, etc) became something i gravitated towards cooking more of.
mostly, though, it's just recipes i get sent and go, oooh, this looks good! or, this looks interesting! and i make it and it either works or it doesn't. some have already been very similar to another recipe i make regularly (for example, i tested a recipe for molasses-y roasted brussels sprouts but it was VERY sweet and i already make a regular roasted fish sauce caramel-y brussels recipe, so i just stick with that). i like to use these recipes as jumping off points since i'm not a big "follow the recipe" type of cook to begin with. i like to riff and just make things from scratch and see what sticks.
#asks#i have all the recipes i tested from the cookbook saved so i could make them easily. also i got a copy of the book to read through#the roast pork dish i tested was probably my favorite. but it is SO technique heavy. not very practical

top 5 foods
Hiya!! I have what I believe to be a deeply basic taste in foods, shame! Anyways, these ended up being mostly recipes I cook on the reg :}
Honourable mention: tinned mackerel. just mackerel. Straight out of the can. Utensil optional. Ideally consumed in a ditch, somewhere, while raining
- Chicken Soup - I make everything but the stock from scratch, and even roast a chicken in the process. Whole works, celery, carrots, butter beans, onions, potatoes, peas; use the drippings to enhance the stock, slap garlic, paprika, basil, thyme, rosemary, oregano, and such in there. And I'm feeding myself for weeks 💅

- Gnocchi Pasta Bake - I love playing this game called 'did I add too much to this shallow baking dish'. I have yet to lose this game: gorgeously cheesy and I like to fry chicken thighs in fat as a protein. Add some spinach and peas. Mwah

- Massaman Curry from the local Thai place. I once finished a 3-hour exam in 2 because I read the clock wrong and thought I was running out of time. Wrote in a panicked stupor, stumbled out of the exam hall upon finished, ignored the fact everyone else was still sitting and writing, then went home and irdered a massive bowl of curry. Then passed out for the rest of the day 💅
- honestly maoam pinballs sing to me, buying a packet is dangerous because that thing gets Consumed in one sitting whether I like it or not. Maybe not the most foody food, but my fav sweet nonetheless
- my mom's salmon casserole, with ketchup :}

like a month ago my really good friend was going through a lot with her mom and I felt really bad and we planned this day ahead and I just wanted to make her feel better and I told her I’d make her a nice dinner, she ended up flaking on me on the time we were supposed to meet up and I just wished she told me earlier since I went to 2 different grocery stores, made her her favorite meal (Thai yellow curry), baked her bread from scratch, had rice, and dumplings. I just feel like I give my friends 100% and they give me 5-10%
I dunno man, I’m just so frustrated and tired, maybe I’ll just focus all my free time on school so I can just move out of this city faster
#I basically spent all day cooking and she was like I understand if you block me#we eventually talked it out but like I haven’t reached out to her since#I’m just tired of being surrounded by people that just don’t care about me lmao

I have a few questions for the gang!(Lidija, Anemone, Myr and Tristam)
1. What's their favourire place to eat out, do they have a specific cuisine they burn for whennthey eat out or do they very loyaly hold to italian food?
2. Hot and-or cold? What's their favourite cold and or hot baverage?
3. How screwed would they be if they had suddenly bodyswapped with their crush/love interest and had to pretend to be them for a day? if they dont have one- how screwed would they be if they suddenly bodyswapped with TSUNA?
Thank you for passing by again Lou!! I'm planning to attack your ask box soon in return stay tuned 👀 assuming my burnout doesn't take me first
1. Unfortunately, Myr and Lidija never experienced eating at a nice local restaurant outside the Cavalieri grounds, so their experience is very limited. The most daring thing would be the annual Cavalieri Christmas party, but even there it's just their typical Italian cuisine with a couple more dishes than normal.
Anemone, being a member of the administration council called Cornice, did have a few occasions where she could leave the Cavalieri grounds for parties with other mafia families. However, being a vegetarian in high-class Italy is harder than finding a needle in a haystack, so whenever she can she resorts to Indian food! From my research I saw it's one of the most veg-friendly cuisines so I can imagine Anemone enjoying Indian dishes like vangi bath, lentil curry, tofu tikka masala and so on.
If I had to assign a favourite cuisine to Myr and Lidija... Myr likes spicy food but in general she likes dishes with many different tastes, so I think Thai food would suit her greatly. Lidija is a little more sensitive to spice but would still like the variety of tastes, so Vietnamese? Japanese too for the milder flavours and pretty visuals. Honestly I'm not too versed on food so hopefully I got things right-
Oh shit I almost forgot Tristam- I don't see him being *too* adventurous with food. Perhaps he's the only one of the main 4 who would stick to Italian cuisine if given the choice. Given his fine tastes though, I think he'd enjoy Japanese food too.
2. Favorite beverages~
[Myr] - plain hot milk (occasionally choccy milk)
[Lidija] - Blue Lagoon, peach juice, pink grapefruit juice, cappuccino
[Anemone] - Franciacorta, vin brulé
[Tristam] - Espresso Martini mocktail, lemonade when absolutely NO ONE is looking
3. Myr and Anemone will both scratch and bite begging to be let out. Especially Anemone since ...yeah. And Myr trapped in a small frail boy's limbs... nightmare fuel. Lidija would swap with Teodoro atm though which would make her feel very handsome hehe, she'd be very good at imitating him since she spies on him at any given occasion 👀

KING OF SIAM MASSAMAN CURRY (19th c.)
I've recently gone through a curry phase, so thought I would give a proper homemade one a go. So, I decided my next Tasting History dish would be the King of Siam Massaman Curry, a 19th century Thai recipe penned by Thanphuying Kleeb Mahidhorn, who grew up in the Grand Palace during the reign of King Rama V (Chulalongkorn) of Siam. She learned to cook many of the dishes served at the Palace, and this is one that was passed down through the generations to Rosalind Yunibandhu, who published the cookbook this can be found in, Petals of the Champaka: Recipes To Teach My Children And Grandchildren, in 2021. I chose to make this recipe because I am already a massive fan of Thai food, and I thought it would be an interesting experience to see exactly what ingredients and methods go into making a curry fit for a king completely from scratch. Usually, I just buy curry paste, but not today! See Max’s video on how to make it here or see the ingredients and process at the end of this post, sourced from his website.
My experience making it:
I did my best to stick exactly to this recipe, but due to the long ingredient list, I inevitably had to make a few changes based on my location and what's available here. My ability to make this dish is entirely thanks to my local Asian grocer, which supplied me with several ingredients I had never cooked with before and are near impossible to find elsewhere (tamarind juice, galangal, shrimp paste, lemongrass... the list goes on!). I couldn't find medium spice red chili peppers that weren't those little Thai ones Max says not to use, so I ended up finding some green medium spicy chili peppers from Turkey. Among about 7 brands at the Asian grocer, I couldn't seem to find a coconut cream without emulsifiers, so I used the coconut oil tip Max mentions in his notes. Weirdly, I also couldn't find unsalted roasted peanuts at several local grocery stores, so I ended up using salted ones (I don't think this affected the taste too severely). My last change to the ingredients was using chopped red bell peppers instead of half the chicken, because I wanted to sneak another veggie into the recipe. The chicken is mostly a vessel for the curry sauce, so I figured, why not add another vessel?
The process for this King of Siam recipe, because it is a curry completely from scratch, took me 2.5-3 hours to make. I do cook at a bit of a slower pace in general, I think, but because this was a new and very complex recipe, it took me even longer than it should have. I first focused on making the curry paste, which required lots of fine chopping, roasting, and then grinding with the mortar and pestle (I don't have a spice grinder). Because I tired of grinding quite quickly, I don't think I got my curry paste quite as smooth and uniform as Max's, but the flavours are the most important, I think. My resulting curry paste looked less like a paste, and more like salsa verde - thanks to the green chili peppers mostly. However, it smelled divine! Next, on to the main curry. I seared the chicken lightly on all sides, set it aside, then added the coconut cream to my wok. Because my coconut cream had emulsifiers, I added a bit of coconut oil, gave it a mix, and after a minute or two it cracked and bubbled just as Max's did. I continued adding the rest of the ingredients as called for, but when it was time to add in my curry paste, I was a little miffed that my curry paste didn't really dissolve well into the coconut milk/cream. Mine was a bit too chunky, so there were bits floating in the sauce and bits that sank to the bottom. As a result, I had to keep stirring to prevent those bits from caking and cooking right onto the bottom of the wok. Eventually, the curry paste did dissolve more. I added in the chicken and bell peppers, and began the long simmer. During this time, Max says the curry sauce will naturally darken and thicken a bit. His turned almost a dark red colour, perhaps due to the red chili peppers he used. Mine seemed to turn a grey-beige colour, maybe due to the green chilis I used, but it never got that dark. Near the end of the simmering, I cooked up some jasmine rice and warmed up some Turkish Pide bread in the oven to dip into the sauce. A bit of an interesting mix of cultures on the plate, but let's just say I was matching the bread with the Turkish chilis I used. I served it up in a shareable casserole dish, and poured me and my husband a glass each of the leftover tamarind juice - I had taken a sip while cooking and found it really tasty! I was so proud of how this dish turned out, because it took ages to make, used tons of new-to-me ingredients, and it did look like a Thai curry, even if it didn't look like Max's King of Siam Massaman Curry.
My experience tasting it:
I first tried a tiny spoonful of just the curry sauce. It was super tasty! It actually tasted really close to how a yellow curry from a Thai restaurant tastes. I was shocked at how similar, especially because the colour was quite different. For my second bite, I added some sauce, chicken, and bell pepper on top of some jasmine rice and took a bite with all those elements. The chicken was so tender and held the curry flavour really well. I was so glad I added the bell peppers, too, because they added a nice freshness. The taste of the curry was very complex, the texture was creamy, and it only had a light spice. It was amazing how so many unique and often overpowering ingredients came together to form this complete new flavour where you can't pick out any of those ingredient flavours individually. It was absolutely delicious and rich. My husband and I polished off the entire King of Siam Massaman Curry, even sopping up what was left of the sauce with our bread until the dish was nearly clean. I had meant to keep some for the day after, since Max says the flavours really intensify if you let it sit in the fridge overnight, but that was just not going to happen - it was too tasty. While this recipe is definitely a winner, I don't know if I will ever make it again, only because of how long it took to make and how many ingredients it took to make (many of which either expensive or not easy to come by in my part of the world). Neither of these issues are anything the King of Siam would have to worry about, so I totally see why this recipe was a hit with King Rama V. You guessed it, I will continue to buy pre-packaged curry paste, despite the deliciousness of this dish. If you end up making this dish, if you liked it, or if you changed anything from the original recipe, do let me know!
Links to harder-to-find ingredients:
Sorry... too many in this one, and Max didn't provide any links on where to get them. I may come back later and update this section if I find some online sources for the harder-to-find ingredients.
King of Siam Massaman Curry original recipe (19th c.)
Sourced from Petals of the Champaka: Recipes To Teach My Children And Grandchildren, published in 2021 using recipes by Thanphuying Kleeb Mahidhorn from her timeliving in the palace of the King of Siam in the 19th century.
Pound chilies, shallots, garlic, coriander seeds and cumin together with shrimp paste, galangal, lemongrass, [cardamom, cloves] and a little roasted coconut, to a fine paste. Squeeze the coconut milk, separating the cream from the milk. Simmer the coconut cream until the oil separates out. Cut chicken into large pieces, pan-fry in oil until golden brown. Add the curry paste and stir until fragrant. Add the coconut milk together with the roasted peanuts [and cinnamon bark]. Simmer until tender, add fish sauce, sugar, tamarind juice, small shallots, bay leaf. Add 2-3 slices of ginger upon removing from the stove.
Modern Recipe
Based on Petals of the Champaka: Recipes To Teach My Children And Grandchildren, published in 2021 using recipes by Thanphuying Kleeb Mahidhorn from the 19th century, and Max Miller’s version in his Tasting History video.
Ingredients:
Curry Paste
1 tbsp coriander seeds
2 tsp cumin seeds
1 tbsp grated coconut
4 cloves
1 tsp cardamom seeds (from cardamom pods)
3 tbsp chopped shallots
6 to 7 cloves of garlic
1 tbsp chopped lemongrass
1 tbsp peeled and sliced galangal
7 chili peppers*, dried or fresh, seeds removed
1 tsp shrimp paste
Curry
2 pounds (1 kg) chicken thigh or beef, cut into 1 1/2” pieces
2-3 tbsp coconut oil
1/2 cup coconut cream**
2 cups coconut milk (canned)
1/4 cup unsalted roasted peanuts
1 stick cassia cinnamon
2 tbsp fish sauce
3 tbsp (50 g) palm sugar
3 tbsp tamarind juice
1/2 cup shallots, chopped
3 bay leaves
3 slices of peeled ginger, about 1/8” thick
*As this dish isn’t meant to be spicy, don’t use small Thai chilies. Any mild chili will work, just remove the seeds and you’re good to go.
**Be sure to get coconut cream that doesn’t contain any emulsifiers, or this won’t work (the only ingredient should be coconut cream). Be sure to read the ingredients list. If this is unavailable to you, you can add some coconut oil to the cream, it just won’t taste quite the same.
Method:
For the curry paste: Put the coriander seeds, cumin seeds, grated coconut, cloves, and cardamom seeds into a dry pan over medium heat, stirring constantly, for about 3 to 4 minutes or until it is fragrant and the coconut is lightly browned. Remove from the pan and let cool.
Grind the spice mixture into a powder in a spice grinder or very clean coffee grinder, then set aside.
Remove the seeds from the chilies, wearing gloves if desired to protect hands from the spice. Roughly chop the chilies.
Add the shallots, garlic, lemongrass, galangal, and chilies to a dry pan over medium-high and cook, stirring constantly until the ingredients develop a bit of char.
Add the chilies mixture to a mortar and pestle grind with the shrimp paste. This will take a while and is best done by hand in order to properly release the oils.
Add the spice mixture and continue to grind until it is as smooth as you can get (it won’t be completely smooth).
For the curry: Melt the coconut oil in a pan over medium heat and add the chicken. Cook until browned and set aside.
While the chicken cooks, pour the coconut cream into a separate pan over medium heat and simmer until the oil separates out (cracking).
Once you see oil bubbles on the surface of the cream, it has cracked. Add the curry paste and stir until fragrant, about 2 minutes.
Add the coconut milk and bring to a simmer.
Add the chicken, peanuts, and cinnamon stick. Simmer until the chicken is tender, about 30 to 45 minutes.
Add fish sauce, palm sugar, tamarind juice, shallots, and bay leaves. Simmer on low for 1 hour. It will darken as it cooks.
Taste and adjust seasonings if needed, then take it off the heat and add the ginger.
Cover and put in the fridge overnight to develop the flavors, or serve it forth right away with rice.

Relationship status: Dating @shinycorvidae 😘😘
Favorite color: I wear a lot of black (which is a color, fite me) but right now blues, soft pink and grey have been my favorite. I got a shimmery pink coffee thermos for christmas and the color makes me really happy~
Song stuck in my head: Zydrate Anatomy--I've been working on character playlists lately and this one is on the top of one of my new brat's lists, so I've been hearing a ton of it
Last Movie/TV Show: I’ve been watching a lot of murder mysteries and trying to re-watch all of project runway (it’s good background noise for me)
Favorite food: Aaaaa that's hard to pick--am I allowed to pick a drink? I would live off coffee if I could (both iced or hot), but as for foods, I'm a sucker for good thai curry, or really any sort of breakfast food. One of my favorites right now is this little Cuban place by me, that does really good steak and eggs, with rice and beans and yucca
Last song listened to: Never Stop Me, from the cyberpunk radio--I listen to it a lot at work, where I need some background noise that isn't too distracting.
Dream trip: I've always wanted to go to Costa Rica, and hike there (so many cool birds man), but I'd also love to go back to Germany!--I was only there for a couple days and feel like I hardly scratched the surface (or Prague beloved).
Current Obsession: Cyberpunk—tbh I think it’s just a permanent one at this point 😂—although I’ve been planning a fallout 4 and Skyrim replay here soon too
Spicy/Savory/Sweet?: Sweet please! I have a lot of favorites but recently it’s been this really good bridge mix from Sweetland candy store
Last thing I searched: It's dumb but 'chowder'--a friend of mine asked me if cereal could count as one and I needed to prove him wrong, and wanted a definition of it, and OPHS for work--it was an acroynm that cropped up in a photograph I was accessioning, and I wanted to know what it stood for so I could title the item in the database--it ended up being Oak Park High School
