Y/N WAS CERTAINLY NOT PROUD OF WHAT SHE DID, BUT SHE COULDN’T LIE TO HERSELF, SHE DID NOT REGRET IT. Did that make her a bad person? Probably, and maybe that’s why karma got her, because sneaking around with someone’s boyfriend—even if it that someone was Betty, whom Y/N absolutely despised—had been a dick move, and she knew it all too well. But then again, Ethan’s puppy brown eyes had been like a trap. A trap she had fallen for unexpectedly and deeply.

Ethan Landry was the captain of the Blackmore Hockey Team—which Y/N’s brother, Drew, was a part of—, and Blackmore University’s golden boy. He was beyond untouchable, and taken by the captain of the cheerleader squad: Betty Harkness. They were the perfect couple on papers, but everyone knew they didn’t get along very well, and that they broke up and made up back and forth.

Everyone wanted Ethan—he was gorgeous, confident, hilarious, kind, athletic and pretty much every positive adjective you could find. But Y/N always saw him as Drew’s friend and Ethan always saw her as Drew’s little sister (although she was only a few months younger than them). Until one action completely changed the course of their lives.

“Eth? Are you on your way to hockey practice?” Y/N pulled up her car when he saw the tall boy walking on the sidewalk, hockey stick over his broad shoulder.

“Y/N! Yes. My car broke down, and now I have to walk” Ethan said, scrunching his nose.

“Get in the car, dumbass. I’ll drive you” she said, opening the shotgun door.

“Are you sure? Aren’t you heading somewhere else?”

“No, actually I was going to see the practice too. My best friend left to visit some relatives, so I have no plans. Drew invited me to the practice when he saw me mopping around the house”

Ethan laughed, and got into the car “You’re a life saver. But hey, does that mean you have to spend your whole summer all alone? That’s awful”

Y/N shook her head “Only a week and a half. Now I kinda wish I had more friends, although staying at home watching rom-coms doesn’t sound that bad”

“God, you depress me” Ethan groaned.

“Sorry Mr. So Popular I Get Invited To Every Party” she teased him.

“You could get invited to parties too, if you didn’t have that bitchy face whenever someone approaches you with an invitation” Ethan said, trying to contain a smile.

“I do that?” she asked, genuinely surprised.

Ethan raised his eyebrows “You don’t do that on purpose?”

“No! I mean, I would take the invitation even though parties aren’t my thing and will probably not go”

“Why? Because you’re not like other girls?” he joked.

Y/N scoffed “No, you dick. I get anxious around big crowds, especially intoxicated crowds” she explained.

“Oh… now I do feel like a dick”

The girl sent him a reassuring smile “It’s okay”

“You know, this is the first time we talk without Drew around” Ethan said.

“You’re right. What’s your veredict? Am I better company than my brother?” she asked, playful smile on her lips.

“Oh, most definitely” he said mirroring her smile “Jokes aside, you’re actually fun to be around”

“You doubted that?? What a wrong thing to assume from someone who was the authority to kick you out of her car” Y/N tried to keep a serious expression, but Ethan’s laugh ruined it.

“True, true. I’m sorry I ever doubted you, Y/N/N. Please don’t leave me stranded” Ethan said, putting his palms together and looking at her with his deep brown eyes.

Had he always had those cute puppy eyes? And holy shit was he handsome, and charming. How did that go past her all this time?

Y/N did an exaggerated sigh “Fine, I guess I am feeling a little kind-hearted today, so I’ll give you a pass”

“Oh, thank you, benevolent Y/N” he said, and then both bursted out laughing.

Ethan sneaked out glances at her throughout the rest of the ride, wondering how he had never noticed how funny and gorgeous she was. And had she always had that shiny smile?

ETHAN WOULD ABSOLUTELY HATE THE MOVIE IF THE SIGHT OF Y/N’S EXCITED FACE WASN’T SO GODDAMN HEART WARMING. Ethan didn’t know what was going on with him, but he hadn’t been able to stop thinking about her ever since the drive—which was a week ago. He yearned for her sarcastic remarks and funny comebacks. He found himself going to Drew’s house more often just to catch a small glimpse of the gorgeous girl, who would smile brightly at him when she caught him staring.

Yes, they were definitely flirting. And he felt like he was fifteen again having his first crush. But the attraction was obviously mutual, so he didn’t hesitate to make a move.

“How many times have you watched this movie again?” Ethan whispered in her ear, and she felt goosebumps all over her body. How could a voice be that sexy?

“Like… ten times? I don’t know. Why? Am I reciting the lines too much?” she asked embarrassed.

Ethan bit his lip softly, his heart not taking her cuteness “No, just wondering if you could miss five minutes of it”.

“Why?”

“Because I want to kiss you”

“But I wanna keep on watching Robert” she teased as she got closer to the tall boy.

“You’re seriously talking about another guy while I am one second away from kissing the fuck out of you?”

Y/N shrugged “Deal with it”

The arm rest was stabbing her ribcage but Y/N didn’t care about anything else other than that intoxicating kiss. She didn’t feel anything but the heat of his touch on her waist, on her jaw, on her neck—everywhere. And Ethan didn’t care about anything else but her soft lips, the feel of her fingers on his hair, the little whimpers she was making as his tongue explored her mouth.

“Now that I think about it, I can miss the rest of the movie” she spoke against his lips.

Ethan smirked “My house?” Y/N nodded eagerly.

THE SILKY SHEETS FELT SOFT AGAINST HER NAKED SKIN AND THE WARMTH OF ETHAN’S BODY MADE HER WANT TO NEVER GET UP. But it was practice day, so Ethan’s alarm went off, and they both groaned. The night had been amazing, after whispers of ‘are you sure?’ and ‘never have i ever before’, they ended up twisted in his bedsheets and the memory of the passionate rounds were the first thing that came to their minds as they woke up.

“We need to get up, Eth. You have practice” Y/N said as the sleepy boy pulled her towards him.

“But you look so pretty beneath the sun and in my sheets” he whispered, kissing her collarbone.

Y/N blushed “Come on, we have to go”

“We? Are you coming to the practice?” Ethan said excitedly.

Y/N nodded “If that’s okay”

“Yes! Prepare to be left enchanted by my hockey skills”

“I’ve seen you play hundreds of times, Eth” she laughed. “I know you’re fantastic”

“I will dedicate every score to you” he kissed her softly.

“Wow, I’m so excited and honoured” Y/N said in a high-pitched voiced.

“You’re so mean” Ethan laughed. “By the way… are you feeling okay? Aren’t first times painful?”

“Well, my legs feel a little bit weird, but I’m okay. Thank you” Y/N smiled sweetly, and he pressed his lips to her temple.

Was it too soon to say she had, maybe, fallen for him? Could he possibly feel the same? Y/N could only hope it wasn’t just a summer thing for him, because she certainly knew it wouldn’t be for her.

AUGUST HAD SIPPED AWAY LIKE A BOTTLE OF WINE AND SOON CLASSES STARTED AGAIN. And the feeling of anxiety filled Y/N’s chest. What would happen now? Would Ethan break up with Betty or was he going to let the memories of august slip away into just a moment in time? They had never talked about it, they just enjoyed their moments together.

“Well, well, she’s alive! Who would’ve thought?” the voice of Willow, her best friend, filled her ears.

“Hi, my gorgeous beautiful pretty friend” Y/N said with a guilty smile as she approached her.

“No, no. There’s not enough adjectives in the world to remediate the fact that you cancelled our plans all summer” Willow crossed her arms in front of her chest.

“I’m sorry… I need to confess something”

Willow raised her eyebrows “I’m hearing”

“Promise not to freak out? It’s important that you stay calm, we’re in the hallway”

“I promise”

“I’ve been seeing someone during the summer” she whispered.

Willow’s eyes almost popped out of her face “Holy shit! Who?”

“Remember your promise, okay?” Y/N reminded her, and she nodded impatiently. “Ethan”.

Willow didn’t scream, or gasp, or choked in surprise. She laughed. “Oh my god, imagine!” wow, was it that unbelievable? Y/N stared at her with a serious expression and soon Willow realized it wasn’t a joke. “Are you fucking kidding me, Y/N/N? Are we talking about Ethan Landry? Captain of the team? Your brother’s friend? Mr. Popular? Betty Harnkness’ boyfriend?”

“Yes, Willow. Congratulations, you know him!”

“Don’t use that tone with me right now! Y/N he has a girlfriend”

Y/N sighed “I know, okay? And I feel a little bad. But it’s too late, okay? It’s done”

“A little bad?” Willow repeated, trying not to laugh.

“Well, it is Betty we are talking about. And are they really into each other or is just for social status?”

“Yeah… what is going to happen? Are him and Betty over? Are you two dating?”

“I don’t know, I don’t know and no” she answered. “We haven’t talked about it”

“I bet you didn’t talk at all” Willow smirked.

“Actually… we did. I mean, we did have fun doing… physical stuff but we also talked a lot” Y/N said with a smile “He’s so amazing, Willow. He’s so easy to talk to, he’s funny, sweet, laughs at my jokes, takes care of me, compliments me every chance he has, he’s an amazing kisser… he dedicated me every single score he did when he played. It was so sweet”

“Holy shit, Y/N you really fell for him”

“I know” you could almost see the sparks radiating off her.

“Well, lover girl. Let’s go to class, and then you’ll tell me all the details”

And as they walked through the hallway they caught sight of Ethan’s group. Against the lockers were Drew, Julian, Chad, Tara, Mindy, Anika, Betty and Ethan, whose arms was draped around Betty’s waist.

Y/N felt her surroundings get frozen, a knot appeared on her throat and she was pretty sure she was about to cry. Just like that, every hope and excitement left inside her turned into ashes. She wanted to keep walking, but her feet were glued to the floor.

“Fuck, Y/N/N” Willow whispered, as she saw what had left her best friend in such state “Let’s keep walking” she grabbed her friend’s hand and started to guide her towards the classroom.

But to do that, they had to walk past the group. The two friends set their eyes on their goal—the classroom—praying they wouldn’t notice them.

“Y/N/N!” shit no, no no. Willow squeezed her friend‘s hand tightly as they heard Drew calling her. She had no choice.

“It’s okay, I’m here” Willow whispered as they dragged their feet towards them.

“Hi” they said, Willow’s tone was dry while Y/N’s was just low and unstable.

“Hey, just wanted to give you these” Drew said, handing her two tickets. “For the hockey match this weekend. You are going, right?”

“I don’t know. Willow and I have plans” Y/N said, only looking at Drew.

“But it’s our last match. And we’re pretty confident we’re winning, with our star player right here” Drew said, patting Ethan’s arm. The boy laughed, and Y/N felt her heart clench at the beautiful sound.

“Yeah, Y/N/N come on. You enjoy hockey” his voice addressing her did nothing but make her want to cry in the spot. Was he mocking her? Y/N didn’t look at him, and Willow threw him a dirty glance.

“Y/N’s thing is to stay home with her lame romantic comedies” Betty’s annoying voice said.

“Shut up, Betty” Tara said harshly.

“Please? I really want you there” Drew told her.

How could she say no? She loved her brother “Okay, okay. We will be there” she faked a smiled so he won’t see how miserable she was feeling.

But he was her brother, and knew her like the back of his hand “Hey, what’s wrong?” he grabbed his sister by the cheeks, eyes reflecting how worried he was.

“Nothing” god she felt so pathetic. It was now obvious she was about to cry. And she was doing it in front of her brother’s friends, the boy who broke her heart and his girlfriend “I need to go to class, see you later”.

By the end of the day, Y/N felt absolutely defeated. Her energy was drained, the knot on her throat didn’t want to go away and her mind was making fun of her by replaying the memories of her summer love thing with Ethan. But as if God took pity on her, the last class of the day got suspended so she got to go home early.

But apparently it was the Let’s Make Y/N Feel Like Shit day, because Ethan had been waiting for her in the hood of her car, with his perfect mullet hair and his hockey jersey that looked absolutely amazing on him. She had no escape.

“What the fuck are you doing?” she spoke. Now she felt furious, how dare he show his face after that morning?

“I needed to talk to you” Ethan said in a soft voice.

“I have things to do. So, I’m really sorry, but not right now”

“By ‘things’ do you mean go home, make cookies and watch 10 things I hate about you?” he asked with a knowing smile.

“Don’t act as if you knew me” she spitted in anger.

The smile fell from his face “I do know you, Y/N/N”

“Well then, you might’ve realized that I don’t want to talk to you at all” she said, trying not to let the tears fall. Why was he there? Wasn’t the pain he put on her that morning enough?

“Please… I- I need to explain what happened. It’s not what it looked like” Ethan said.

“So, you’re telling me that you actually broke up with Betty?” she asked, already knowing what the answer would be. Ethan sighed and shook his head no. “Then it was exactly what it looked like. And you even had the audacity to mock me!”

“What?! I didn’t mock you” Ethan said truthfully.

“Y/N/N come on. You enjoy hockey” she imitated his voice. “You were mocking me. You know I don’t care about hockey, I just cared about seeing you and my brother”

“I- god yes, it sounded bad. But I swear I didn’t mean it like that. It was my way of telling you everything was okay”

“What the fuck?!” she laughed dryly “Nothing is okay, Ethan! You are still with her. And I know we didn’t state you were breaking up with her to be with me, but I just thought… I thought you would do it. That we had something going on. I thought it was more than a summer thing”.

“It was more than that, I promise. It was so much more than a summer thing. I’ve never felt something so strong towards someone”

“Then why are you still with her?”

“I… don’t know. I just-she saw me and everyone was watching us… I couldn’t break up with her. I’m sorry. With the match coming up, I didn’t want to add any unnecessary drama… I just thought it wasn’t the right time to break up”

“Unnecessary drama? The match? Are you fucking serious? It didn’t cross your mind how would I feel when I saw you with your arms around her? Well, in case you were wondering it was fucking devastating. I was just telling Willow what an amazing guy you are… how in love I am with you. And then I saw you two… it sucked, Ethan. So I’m sorry if your apologies aren’t enough. Now I need to go”

“How in love I am with you” were the words that resonated on Ethan’s head as he watched Y/N drive away. She was in love with him, and he was very much in love with her too, but he wrecked everything.

“Hey, man. What’s wrong? Why are you crying?” Drew found him in the empty hallway.

“I screwed it up, Drew. I hurt her”

“What’s are you talking about?” but Ethan did nothing but sob with his head in his hands. “It’s okay, man. Just breathe, just relax, it’ll be okay”

But Ethan didn’t know if it was going to be okay. He cursed for having been so careless with the relationship, for having though that wanting would be enough. It wasn’t. He should’ve been clear with Betty. His top priority should’ve been Y/N, not Betty nor the hockey match. He ruined it, but he was going to do everything in his power to make it up to her. He was determined to win back the girl he loved.

SUMMARY : the doctor isn't too pleased with his companion's new friend. Donna gets inlvoved in some overdue matchmaking.

The Doctor's list of regrets is endless. He's said things he didn't mean. Treated people in ways he shouldn't have. Taken part is stuff he doesn't even allow himself to think about. But the newest addition to the list, by far, is his most regretful of them all.

He introduced y/n to Jack Harkness.

In his defense, there really wasn't any way of avoiding it. When using the rift to refuel the TARDIS's engines, he spotted the familiar coated figure of the Captain sprinting towards his ship. Following his past actions, he quickly rushed towards the console and started his ship, sending his faithful companions, Donna and y/n, flying across the room; completely unaware of the hijacker clinging onto the outside as they hurtled through the vortex.

When they landed at their next adventure, y/n immediately spotted Jack on his back in an awkward position on the floor.

"Doctor!" she yelled, making him and Donna rush towards them. Donna gasped as The Doctor rolled his eyes.

"Not again." He moaned.

Donna and y/n looked at him in shock.

"You mean to say this has happened before?!" Donna exclaimed. "How many free passengers have done this?"

"Just him," The Doctor said, running his hand through his hair. "I think he's the only one who'd dare. The only one who could survive."

Y/n had been monitoring the muscled man, checking for consciousness and life signs yet not finding any. She looked up solemnly, "Doctor, I'm so sorry. But I can't find a heartb-"

She was inturpted by a strong intake of breath as the man sat up, her and Donna screaming. "I knew I shouldn't have skipped first aid class!"

Jack looked around, eyes catching the kneeling woman beside him and he lifted a finger to her chin, making their eyes lock and a blush take over her cheeks. "Hello." He smirked.

"Stop it!" The Doctor frowned, crossing his arms across his chest.

"I really don't mind." Y/n smiled shyly.

The Doctor was used to this. Jack flirting with every living thing but for some reason it irked him more than ever. Donna nudged his shoulder, a small smirk on her face, causing the timelord to scoff. "You not gonna introduce us?" She said, somewhat smugly.

Begrudgingly, he pointed to members of the group. "Jack, this is my friend, Donna. She travels with me. Donna, this is Jack. He used to travel with me. Now he runs a Torchwood in Cardif." They smiled at each other in greeting before Jack raised his eyebrows and watched the woman who had her arms wrapped around him for support.

"Are you not going to introduce me to this beautiful woman?" Jack asked, fingers brushing the young lady's heated face.

The Doctor sniffed, eyes avoiding the two on the ground and the snickering redhead to his side. "Jack, this is y/n, my...friend."

"Y/n," Jack began, smiling with his bluest eyes. "gorgeous name for a gorgeous lady."

And that's when it began.

Since then, the two had been inseperable. Always close to the other, always laughing or playfully bickering. And quite honestly, the Doctor hated it.

There had been an unfamiliar distance between him and y/n since Jack re-entered his life and stole his friend from him. He was quickly growing resentful.

From a distance, he heard the common occurrence of Jack and his companion's laughter, his frown deepening into a scowl as he hit a button on the console.

Donna noticed and slowly stalked towards him, watching as he slumped back into the pilot seat, eyes distanced and distracted.

"Oh, c'mon, Spaceman," She began, red hair cascading her face as her right hand was holding a hairbrush she was previously using. "What's up with you?"

"Nothing." he sulked.

"Oh, come off it. You've been a right miserable git these past few days. And it doesn't take a genius to figure out the reasonings behind your sour mood." She rolled her eyes, walking back to the mirror she had been using to comb her hair prior to starting the conversation.

"How'd you mean?"

"Well, since y/n and Casanova over there met," She pointed into the hallway leading into the kitchen. "You've been sulking all over the shop."

"Donna, I have no idea what you're talking about." He denied, still not meeting her eyes.

"Lay off it. You're jealous."

"I am not-" he began but quickly halted when his voice had unnaturally raised a few octaves. "I am not jealous."

"Yeah, okay." Donna rolled her eyes, setting the brush down while abandoning the mirror.

"I'm not!" He exclaimed.

"I'm agreeing with you!"

"Mhm" He stood up, pressing a few more buttons, ignoring the ginger as she sat in his previously acclaimed seat. "Good."

A silence took over them as Donna stared at her hand, thinking about having y/n give her nails a touch up. "So.." She began, treading on water. "If you're not jealous, I'm sure you'll be happy to know that y/n and Jack are thinking on going on a date."

"What?" He frowned, jaw clenching.

"Yeah, that's what they asked me to come and tell you. Will you take them to a romantic planet. Maybe somewhere with a restaurant? Pretty lights. Jack wants it to be special for her." As she spoke, she hopped from the seat and walked to the exit of the room, allowing her voice to travel with her, leaving a glum doctor standing alone by his console with his thoughts racing.

Later that day, y/n jogged into the kitchen, dressed in pajamas with her hair tied back. She smiled, finding the doctor eating a banana as he leaned on the counter. "Hello, Doc!"

His eyes lit up at the voice he found himself missing. He chucked the remains of his fruit into the bin, smiling at his companion. "Hi."

"Donna told me to ask you about 'the trip.' She's been banging on about it! Says I need to dress fancy. Jack's already picking out his suit."

His mind thought back to the conversation he had with Donna earlier that day and a frown engraved itself onto his face. "Oh, right."

Feeling an uncomfortable atmosphere creep its way into the room, she opened the cupboard and searched for her supply of jaffa cakes the TARDIS had gratefully given her.

The Doctor watched, a small smile growing on the corner of his lips. The TARDIS really liked y/n. It was not often his ship would offer a selection of his guest's favourite delicacies to them.

"Y/n", he said, earning a soft noise of acknowledgement from her. "Are you..Happy..here? With me?"

Y/n dropped her chocolate on the counter, rubbing her hands free of crumbs as she looked up at her Doctor. "Of course I am! What a silly question. I love it here! I love the TARDIS, I love our adventures! I love y-" her words fumbled over the others and she looked down in embarrassment.

"Are you..going to leave?" He asked, insecurities flowing out alongside his words. Y/n stepped close to him and grabbed ahold of his calloused hands.

"Of course I'm not. You're not getting rid of me, TimeBoy." She smiled. "Where's this coming from?"

The Doctor looked down at their joined hands and he squeezed them lightly, not knowing what to say to fill the quietness.

"Doctor?"

"It's just..." He sighed, finally allowing himself to meet the eyes he'd found himself getting lost in so often, he could alonost count them as a second home. "I don't want you to date him." he mumbled.

"Date?" She asked, brows furrowed in confusion. "Who's going on a date?"

The Doctor looked perplexed, mouth opening and closing with no sound escaping them. "Donna said-" His mouth closed again, face hardening. "Donna." He whispered, rolling his eyes at his obliviousness to his sassy friends blatant lies.

Still confused, Y/n searched his eyes for answers. "Donna said what?"

Sighing, he explained, "Donna told me that you and Jack were going on a date."

"A date? With Jack?" Y/n laughed, crinkles forming under her eyes. "I love Jack, obviously, but only as a friend." She said, still laughing until realisation hit. "Wait, but would it be so bad if Jack and I were more than friends?"

"Yes." The timelord answered so quick.

"Oh, thanks." His companion said, dropping his hands while creating some distance between the two.

Understanding his mistake, he reached forwards and took her hands again. "But only because.. because .. I don't think you're suited well."

Y/n frowned but her eyes softened at the vulnerable look on her Doctor's face. It was his turn to stumble through his words and she watched as a pink hue danced upon his freckled cheeks and tinted the tops of his ears. "Doctor, what are you trying to say?" She prodded softly.

"I-" Forcing himself to say the words, he looked nearly pained. "I'm saying.. that you're better suited for someone else.." Penny in the air. "Someone like, well, me." Penny drops. "Y/n I am in love with you. So absoloutely and completely in love with you. I never thought I would find love again, but I did. I found it in you."

Silence filled the room once again. His brown eyes searched his companion's face but found no signs of mutual feelings. Her face had remained unchanged, no words leaving her lips. He searched her eyes, so used to being able to read everything she was feeling just by looking into them, though he again found nothing.

He started rambling, tripping over his words. "I'm so sorry, just forget I said anything, it doesn't matter." His hand tried to slip out of hers so he could exist the room, but she clung on firmer, not allowing him to move. "Really, y/n, I'm so sorry, just for-"

Suddenly he felt her soft lips on his. He let out a noise of startled surprise before it registered that she was kissing him. The dream he had dreamt a million times had became a reality. His mind sprung into action quickly, and he wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her in closer and deepening the kiss. His free hand reached up and stroked her cheek as their mouths moulded together perfectly.

She truly was made for him.

Breaking away, the doctor pressed his forhead to hers, lips barely distanced, both of them panting. She reached up and ran a hand through his gelled hair, before bringing it down and stroking his neck.

Both of their lips were plumped from the kiss, and she bit into hers before talking. "Doctor, I am just as equally as in love with you."

A massive smile broke onto his kissed lips and he tugged her closer, bringing her in once again. However, they were interrupted by cheering.

They turned their heads slowly, looking at the door and spotting his redheaded companion and immortal friend cheering and high-fiving, drowning in victory.

I really want Doctor Who to bring back companions’ title/aliases. Especially since Doctor Who is a long running show with a rolling cast. They just make the companions and their story arcs a lot more memorable and distinguishable. 

For example,

When someone says Rose Tyler, I think oh “Bad Wolf” the ordinary girl who loves the Doctor so much that she stared into the TARDIS and spread her warning across time. The name showed her stubbornness to be with the Doctor, even when he has send her away and she’s stuck in an alternate dimension.

Jack Harkness technically doesn’t have a title but something feels wrong when you just say his name because he’s “Captain Jack Harkness”. Which really exemplifies his charisma and self confidence. Emphasizing his name using ‘Captain’ also shows how he’s more knowledgeable on time travel and aliens than most companions the Doctor have.

Martha Jones, “The Woman Who Walked The Earth” literally describes what she did. She walked the Earth and spread word of the Doctor to save the world. When you hear that title you know that she’s brave and she’s strong, THIS is what she’s capable of doing.

Donna Noble can be “The Most Important Woman in The Whole of Creation” or “Best Temp in Chiswick” but she’s also, as the fandom seems to agree, “The Doctor’s Best Friend”. Personally I always remember the last one because the Doctor and Donna duo are so iconic and fun, but that’s more in relation to the Doctor instead of on her own. I’m not a big fan of the first one because it’s a bit too mouthy. The second one describes Donna best as an individual as it’s both put emphasis on how great she is with best ‘best’ followed by how she see’s herself as nothing special as a “temp in Chiswick”.

Special mention to Wilfred Mott who doesn’t actually have a title but we all know he’s “The Doctor’s Dad”. He’s caring and he took care of the Doctor when he’s vulnerable. I love Wilf. We all love Wilf.

Amy Pond is “The Girl Who Waited”. It tells us of her faith to the Doctor, that she would wait for him for 12 years, followed by another 2 years. It tells us the damage those 12 years of waiting did to her, unlike Donna and Martha she’s “The Girl” who has yet to grow up. It also tells us how the Doctor sees her as a girl, someone he’s responsible for, and her future character arc of eventually growing out of this adventure with the Doctor.

Rory Williams, “The Last/Lone Centurion” is someone who spend 2000 years guarding a box out of love and dedication. Literally the reason my brother told me he isn’t worried about whoever I date since watching Rory means I have high standards of men. Rory is also known as “The Boy Who Waited”, a title which I really like since it ties in nicely with Amy’s.

Amy and Rory is also known as “The Ponds”, which other than being “the girl/boy who waited” really establish that these two are a unit. That they are meant to be together and that their story arc is about that. Yes, Amy can’t resist the adventure and Rory will always follow Amy, but Amy will also always choose Rory time and time again until the very end, even if it means the end of the adventure.

River Song is both “The Woman Who Killed The Doctor” and “The Woman Who Marries The Doctor”, both of them together sums up her (linear) story arc. Being someone raised out of fear of the Doctor to loving him and sacrificing her life for the Doctor. The two titles defies one another but are both her, which kind of shows how unpredictable she is, to us viewers and the Doctor.

And last we have Clara Oswin Oswald’s “The Impossible Girl”. Clara’s first story arc is literally “she keeps showing up and dying and she’s the same person but she’s not immortal or a time traveler (yet) so how is she here?”. The title drives home the mystery of Clara Oswald before its resolved and, like Bad Wolf, reminds us of what she’s willing to do for the Doctor, setting up her next arc.

Believe it or not, I know of “Bad Wolf” before I watched series 1 and 2 and I also know “The Ponds” before I watched series 5. (Series 4 being the first one I watched, followed by 3, 1, 2, 5, and mostly linearly since). I already knew that Rose was going to do something extreme for the Doctor since the first episode and I knew Rory and Amy’s relationship is going to be important before I even knew their names. And those things stick with me. It leaves a lasting impression that makes me want to rewatch those series because they’re them. 

I simply cant say the same for Bill Potts, Nardole, and The Fam. Bill is a student, but I don’t remember how that plays in the overall story. Nardole is a funny alien servant, cool. The Fam is well friends of the Doctor I guess, but I don’t remember what makes them special or different from every other companion the Doctor ever have.

Hell even the “Paternoster Gang” is more memorable than “The Fam”. The lizard warrior lady, her human maid/wife, and a baked potato nurse solve crime, inspire Sherlock Holmes, and kick ass in Victorian London. And they didn’t show up much.

See this is why Doctor Who needs to bring back the companion titles. I know some hated how it make it seem like every companion have to be someone important to the world and/or the Doctor’s life but it adds so much to each character that they should do it anyway. Besides, Captain Jack Harkness, The Ponds, and The Paternoster Gang have titles that aren’t important to the world so clearly they can do it.

This is the hardest decision of my life. I think I would have to choose 11. Your premise didn't explicitly exclude sex with the Doctor. So I'm going to answer that way and then also as if it had.

Answer A: I would run away with the mad man with a box so fast. For as long as he would have me there would be infinite possibilities. I'm an art historian and the idea of him taking me to any point in history would break my brain. Plus, since you didn't exclude the option of sex... 100% I would accept any overtures he might make. I'm not saying I have thought about it before now but sex in the TARDIS console room... maybe one day I'll write a fic about that. Would I be bummed about missing out on the grotty, lovely adventure that fucking Daemon would be? For a while. I'm sure 11 could make me feel better though.

Answer B: No sex with 11? Okay, fine! 🙄 I would still chose him over Daemon any day of the week. See answer A for the main reason but I'll add that the Doctor's have let companions bring partners along occasionally. 9 even flirted with Captain Jack Harkness so I can't imagine I would have to go without. Daemon is beautiful and terrible and I love him but he's no Doctor.

Note: Sex with Daemon would probably be way better than sex with 11. There, I said it. Mostly because 11 is goofy and shy and Daemon would absolutely wreck me.

I mean come on, give a girl an audio drama centred around her favourite character, voiced by Gareth David-Lloyd, and expect it not to be a 5 star listen? This in no ways felt to me like an audio adventure, but instead as if I was watching it on the TV. The sound effects and background noises all brought the story to life and the script was simple to follow yet humorous and perfectly captured Ianto's character. I like the way Ianto is finally getting the recognition he deserves instead of just being a 'background' character in torchwood who makes coffee and shags Jack every now and then. The story itself was perfect and enticing unlike the previous adventure I listened to 'the conspiracy' which to me felt slow, this adventure was a change of pace, action packed and kept me on my feet. What more could you ask for? I mean Ianto trying to land a plane? It was basically an hour of Ianto living out his James Bond fantasies. And good on him for that one, if I had the chance to be a spy I would take it up. But I mean give me a story based around Ianto and dare me not to like it. This story possessed a lot more emotion, unlike chapter one 'the conspiracy' which felt a little bit like 'oh no my daughter is holding me hostage, and is secretly an alien! she cant be!'. I loved Zeynep (sorry if that is the incorrect spelling) and I loved the development of her an Ianto's relationship throughout the story, with her trying to sell him insurance whilst he's trying to navigate a falling plane. Absolute Chaos, yet absolutely humorous when it needed to be. 'I'll try to make my panic less sexfesty' definitely in character for him. There were however a few sadder comments made which I noted down for the angst side of this review.

'I really don't matter it's got to be done' This reminded me a lot of when Tosh had the pendant with the ability to read minds and heard how Ianto thought of himself, which then again was never really spoken about again in Torchwood and was sort of shoved under the matt along with most things, this is further shown when he says 'I wanted them to like me' as he feels as though he doesn't completely fit in which leads me to believe this story takes place some time soon after cyberwoman, as he still doesn't feel accepted by the group but is trying to gain there trust.

'this is what Torchwood does isn't it Jack, ruins everyone, everyone it touches' No comments , just a quick moment of silence for our boy. When Ianto thinks he's going to die on the plane he says 'I'm scared I don't want to be alone' which I think is devastatingly beautiful considering he died in the arms of the man he loved at the end of COE. Anyway enough rambling from me as this story earnt an easy 5 stars, even though the end felt a lot more doctor-who-ish then torchwood with the whole 'everyone lives plot'!! but then again I'm not complaining. And as the very wise Captain Jack Harkness once said 'Ianto, I need to hear those beautiful Welsh vowels'.

well since you haven't seen the show I can't really elaborate on all my thoughts because spoilers but it's a good show it's good sometimes it's GREAT sometimes it's just no don't do that then it's good again and I'm very very excited for the new special and series

i've watched it since nuwho started back when the first episode rose aired in 2005 so there have been many times where it's just been an event the kind you had to be there the feeling of certain moments have always stuck with me so i'm always gonna watch it always looking forward for it just a massive constant in my life and its really enjoyable (definitely not sad or heartbreaking it's definitely not traumatised me at all hahahahahahahaha)

since you haven't seen it and incase you do want to watch it i'll just give you a rundown of it below (although something's aren't necessarily the full truth because spoilers)

so it's a BBC show originally from the 90s then it stopped and they decided to revive it back in 2005 and it's been going strong ever since (there's been 13 seasons and many many specials) this year in november it's the 60th anniversary since the first episode aired!!

so it's about the doctor, who is a timelord from a planet called gallifrey and he steals a tardis to go travel in time and space, he generally travels with a companion who's human and wherever he goes there's always some kind of danger

as a timelord he doesn't die he regenerates into a new version and that was the appeal really and why its gone on for so long because you could change actors and still be doctor who

(but a timelord has only 13 regeneration cycles before he actually does die die)

so when they revived the show in 2005 they made the premise that it's still the same doctor just a new regeneration (it was the 9th one) but what had happened was a great time war in which gallifrey and the timelords were all destroyed so now the doctor is the last of the timelords

so with doctor who you have the seasons and then christmas special which is generally when the regeneration happens (sometimes there's other specials too)

I would say you have to watch in order but you can categorise the show into different eras based on the actor playing the doctor and the showrunner at the time

David Tennant = christmas special, S2, christmas special, S3, christmas special, S4, christmas, few other specials, then christmas and new years 2 part special

GISH item 4: Fanfic prompt: Characters from the 1990s meet characters from the 2000s in a universe from the 2010s. My choices: Buffy the Vampire Slayer; Torchwood; Stranger Things. Title: Blood Bonds.

“So. You’re a vampire. With a soul. Who died to save the world?”

“I know, it sounds crazy. I don’t expect you to believe me. I can barely believe it, myself, but --”

“--No, I totally believe you. And you’re not alone. Two of my best friends are just like you,” began the petite ginger Jewitch. 

For the first time since he’d been swarmed and ravaged by hundreds of demobats in a heroic effort to protect his new friends, Eddie the Banished sighed with relief.

“You did the right thing by reaching out. You’re going through a lot, and everyone needs friends. How did you know how to cast such a powerful locator spell, across all of time and space and dimensions, by the way? Pretty impressive. Are you a warlock?”

“Me? Warlock? No. Just a Dungeon Master. But I’ve read every D & D Grimoire backwards and forwards, and I just hoped this spell would work, that someone, somewhere, sometime, would be listening. Who did I reach, by the way? You must be something special if you can hear me, given I’m, you know, trapped under a rift in some kind of hellish dimension.”

“Willow Rosenberg. Pleased to meet ya. Listen, I’ve been where you are. Well, not exactly. In fact, nowhere near. “It’s happened before, you know,” she explained. “First, there was Angel, a vampire cursed by a Roma survivor to have a soul and feel the pain he inflicted. Then, there was Spike, a vampire who chose to be reinsouled to better himself for the Slayer he loved. Both fought epic battles toward saving the world. They could be useful in determining if this fellow is what he says he is, to discern whether he is a hero to deploy or a monster to destroy. The witch is sending the spirits of the ensouled vamps to this fellow’s dimension by an awe-inspiringly powerful astral projection spell. Are you up for an adventure, Jack?” 

“You know I never turn down an opportunity for a good time, Kate.”

“Excellent. I knew I could count on you -- I mean, I knew UNIT could count on you.” The publicly formidable but inwardly demure senior officer blushed at the gaffe. Everyone -- from any galaxy and any era -- blushed around Captain Jack Harkness. That, of course, was one of the primary goals in life of the notoriously pansexual hedonist, the immortal traveler across time and space, who collected, er, adoring fans of all genders and all species of humanoid aliens. A vampire, though. That would be new for him. And Jack loved that kind of challenge.

“Any time,” he winked coquettishly.

Kate briefed Jack for the mission. UNIT’s transdimensional surveillance sensed the opening of a rift near the National Lab they’d been monitoring in Hawkins, Indiana, across the pond in the States, waiting to see if any of the experimented-upon kids there would develop a time travel ability 

They’d detected that the rift was conceptually about halfway between the Hellmouth of Sunnydale and the rift of Cardiff near Torchwood. 

Then their monitors in Hawkins picked up a persistent pattern. Someone was, daily, sending audio and visual signals in the Morse code pattern of SOS. Sometimes a tapping that sounded like a sword hitting a metal shield. Sometimes a bioluminescent flickering. Sometimes … notes on an electric guitar? 

They had been contacted by their associate from that Hawkins Lab, Dr Sam Owens, who’d been trapped in the Nevada desert since being left for dead by the military at a former nuclear missile silo on the Western Shoshone land. Having observed an enormous explosion and wondered whether the US was violating their national sovereignty with further nuclear testing, a Western Shoshone patrol officer on horseback had approached the silo and had discovered the benevolent researcher.  The officer freed him from handcuffs, rehydrated him, and brought him on his horse to the tribal hospital, where he was beyond the reach of US law enforcement. Owens had then revealed all he knew about an anomalous dimension he referred to as The Upside Down.

Collectively, these powerful individuals from a variety of eras might just be able to rescue another lost innocent and close another rift.

The iridescent, glowing spirits of Spike and Angel had become rather fond of their new peer. It had only taken  a few moments of conversation and contemplation to sense that bloodthirst had not owned this bat-bitten boy, to feel the dedication to ending evil that they all shared, bonding them. Spike and Eddie had even connected over crushing on a brave cheerleader. As he and Angel had changed their names upon vamping out, they didn’t mind that Eddie wanted to call himself Kas now. And they’d convinced him this was all really happening; he wasn’t delusional like that guy in Rona Jaffe’s Mazes and Monsters. They taught him lessons on how to more effectively swing his sword. They brought a levity Kas had surely needed, that he’d missed, that he’d associated with Dustin. Dustin…would he ever see that kid he’d told to never change, that the adopted younger brother he’d told he loved? He had to try. What if his D & D acolyte, and/or his loyal uncle, were still looking for him? So, just like every day, he’d tried again to send the Morse code for SOS with lights, and with taps on his shield, and he shredded on his guitar. For Chrissy. For Dustin. And…he realized he regretted that Chrissy and Steve had never gotten to come see the adult version of Corrupted Coffin at the pub.

 Dustin Henderson had brought Wayne Munson home to live with him and his mom and their new cat. Even though Dustin had told Wayne that he had been there at the moment of Eddie’s death, the legendary metal guitarist’s uncle had insisted that he felt like Eddie was still reaching out to him. And while their trailer had been split in two when the “earthquake” happened, each half of the trailer was intact and held precious memorabilia, as well as useful items. So, Wayne had brought a reluctant, tearful Dustin back to the trailer. When the lights flickered and the shield sounded, they were heartened but uncertain. When the guitar shredded, the licks were unmistakable. But could they still get through the rift and find him? What would he be like if they did? Would they be able to get back? They weren’t armed. Would he want them to risk their lives to try to find whatever remained of him after his death, after he had died to save them?

As they contemplated, Owens appeared, and got the trio suited up with leftover suits from a stash under the former lab. Dustin explained he would be the only person who understood the lore of Kas, and that he and Wayne would be the only ones Eddie would trust. That was good enough for Owens. This was an extraction mission, primarily, and gaining the trust of the target wouldn’t be easy for him alone.

Time was frozen in the Upside Down, so Eddie had lost track of how long he’d been there. He hadn’t really had to eat or drink, but he had taken comfort in still being able to do so, from what he could scavenge that hadn’t expired 3 years prior.

When the reunited Hawkins and Nevada crew find Eddie, he’s basking in the glory of his newfound friendships and no longer feels ashamed to be an ensouled vampire. He feels like he can make a life of his unlife, and still have friends. 

Meanwhile, Captain Jack Harkness had used his Vortex Manipulator to teleport into the exact location of the newly bonded vampire trio. Naturally, he couldn’t resist Spike. “You know, you’re the spitting image of my best frenemy, my lover, my nemesis, Captain John Hart.” 

“I get that a lot,” replied a nonchalant Spike. “I’m told I’m irresistible.” Angel guffawed. Kas loved that he was surrounded by humor -- and by new male role models clearly comfortable in improvising homoeroticism that was more than just subtext. 

Given that Captain Jack Harkness was immortal, he felt absolutely no fear in approaching the telepathic, psychopathic villain who had wreaked such devastation against so many. Jack had seen worse. Worse villains, worse rifts, worse genocidal maniacs… he’d fought them all, alongside The Doctor, and when Rose had been the Bad Wolf infused with the Heart of the TARDIS and brought him back to life, he’d become immortal, invincible, unstoppable. So to him, this Vecna, hibernating in the shell of body fragments that remain, his vines feeding him from the decomposing bodies, was weak enough that dispatching him was merely an afterthought to the 51st-century former Time Agent, with his space-age laser weapons to shoot him from afar.

Everyone assembled agreed to work for UNIT and help close every gate to the Upside Down,  starting in Hawkins, then in Russia and anywhere else.

Dustin brought Eddie home with him to live with him, his mom, and Wayne and just recover. UNIT set Eddie up with a planted source at the blood bank while they tried to figure out a cure. Steve volunteered at the blood bank, and Eddie tried to get brave to flirt with him again. 

With Vecna dead, the hive mind was no longer in place; but the demo dogs, demo bats, demogorgons, and Mind Flayer still existed, along with the spores and rifts. There would be more battles, but now they had more allies — and among them were 5 immortals: the Doctor, Jack, Angel, Spike, and now Eddie.

Dustin asked Eddie what to do next. Eddie replied, “Dustin Henderson, roll for initiative.” And they hugged.          …To be continued….

Davies has reunited modern Who‘s most beloved time lord, David Tennant‘s Doctor, and his bestie Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) for three specials, starting with “The Star Beast.” The only problem? Donna’s memory has been wiped and if she remembers the Doctor, the TARDIS, or any of her adventures, she will die. So how will the Doctor save the day this time? Especially since Donna is right in the middle of a space invasion?

Opening Shot: Before we watch the TARDIS land in Camden, London, we’re treated to a very on-the-nose recap of what’s come before. Actor David Tennant stands in front of a greenscreen and says, “Once upon a time…once upon a time lord.” With the help of clips from past seasons, he then fills viewers in on the story of his best friend, Donna Noble. Catherine Tate’s character sits behind a laptop and tells the viewer that sometimes she has dreams about impossible things. Together, the two actors set up the stakes. Fate is making it so the Doctor and Donna collide once more, but if Donna remembers her life with him, she will die.

The Gist: Sometimes the TARDIS, aka the Doctor’s blue police box-shaped time travel machine, just does what it wants and in Doctor Who “The Star Beast,” it wants to bring the Doctor and Donna back together. As soon as the Doctor lands in modern day London, he walks right into Donna and her daughter Rose (Yasmin Finney). While he might want to get as far away as he can, a space ship very publicly descends from the stars and basically lands in Donna’s neighborhood. Her daughter soon discovers The Meep (Miriam Margoyles), an adorable alien refugee running for its life. After consulting with new UNIT science officer Shirley Bingham (Ruth Madeley), the Doctor quickly enters the fray, trying to protect Donna from her memories and Donna’s family from the aliens seemingly hunting the Meep.

What Shows Will It Remind You Of? I mean, it reminded me of the original Doctor Who Christmas Special that introduced David Tennant as the 10th Doctor back in 2005. It had the same eclectic mix of British humor, family fuzzies, and an alien invasion to ward off. However, if you’ve never seen an episode of Doctor Who before, it will remind you of the Muppets meets Loki. There’s timeline hoo-ha and a very British sense of humor running through this sci-fi adventure series.

Our Take: Instead of being a radical reboot of the series — which is what we expect Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor will usher in — Doctor Who “The Star Beast” is a sentimental do-over of returning showrunner Russell T. Davies’s original run. In the lead up to Tennant’s original departure, Davies decided to have Donna Noble absorb the mental power of a time lord via the TARDIS to save the universe. The trade off for this remarkable power? All that knowledge would melt her brain. As Tennant and Tate explain in the special’s cold open, the Doctor’s solution was to have Donna forget her time with the Doctor, thereby cordoning off the energy. Many fans felt this was a massive disservice to the character, who underwent a heroic emotional transformation during her travels. By bringing Tennant and Tate back, Davies can potentially give Donna the send-off she truly deserves. (It coincidentally also offers fans the opportunity to bask in the glow of the actors’ — and real life friends — incandescent chemistry.)

Davies also uses “The Star Beast” as an opportunity to reintroduce his brand of politics to the Doctor Who universe. The openly gay showrunner famously queer-ed up the BBC series by introducing the bisexual Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman). Now, with the casting of Heartstopper standout Yasmin Finney as Donna’s daughter, he is throwing his — and the Time Lord’s — support behind trans kids. Rose’s transgender status isn’t just a bit of woke set dressing, but a pivotal plot point later on in the episode. Some viewers might find the incessant advocacy for Rose, which includes Donna’s ferocious mama bear energy, to be a bit blunt. Me? Time lords aren’t real, but trans kids are, so any positive reinforcement they can get from pop culture is fine by me!

Sex and Skin: Guys, this is a children’s show. No one gets naked. Unless, of course, you count the Meep. The Meep does not appear to be clothed.

Parting Shot: True to form, Donna causes mayhem in the beautifully redesigned TARDIS by spilling coffee onto the magical ship’s gears. Flames erupt, the TARDIS disappears from modern day London, and the Doctor laments that the ship is totally out of control. They could be heading anywhere in time or space!

Sleeper Star: While the show’s stars are the returning David Tennant and Catherine Tate, Miriam Margoyles steals the episode as the adorable alien known as The Meep. Without getting into spoilers, we hope that showrunner Russell T. Davies decides to bring the fluffy character back for Ncuti Gatwa’s run in the TARDIS.

Most Pilot-y Line: I mean, the hokey introduction, starting with “Once upon a time… once upon a time lord,” had me rolling my eyes a little bit.

Our Call: Stream it! It’s a totally fun and fluffy family-friendly adventure! The Meep rules! David Tennant remains a top tier TV hero! Trans kids matter! Woo hoo!'

Lillie Tyler, now eighteen, is highly intelligent and has a lot of potential, however she lacks ambition or self-confidence and is likely to end up like her older sister, living a tedious meaningless life at a dead-end job, until one day she and Rose Tyler meet a man with big ears and a leather jacket who changes their lives forever… though soon they’ll find out that their lives weren’t as normal as they once thought them to be.
