1. How many works do you have on A03? 32 public, 2 anon, 1 orphaned (that I regret, don't do it!)

2. What’s your total A03 word count? 125,475!

3. What fandoms do you write for? Vampire Chronicles!

4. What are your top five fics by kudos? Shake The Disease, Our House, The Hand That Feeds, Play The King

5. Do you respond to comments? YES. I used to be so good at replying right away and now it's more like 2-3 times a year where I'll sit down and do them in bulk. Part of is I feel really nervous and EXPOSED when I post something and I kind of feel shy, and part of is I want to make sure I'm taking the time to reply thoughtfully because I want to put as much energy into my response as I'm getting from all your lovely, thoughtful comments! 💖 But I appreciate every single one—comments keep me going! I like to say "write for yourself" and I stand by that LOL I do write for myself first and foremost, but I share because I crave the feeling of being part of the community!

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Make An Exception lmao. It's a short lil' canon divergent thing but it's basically Armand cashing in a favor with Lestat and asking him to "take care" of Daniel the way Armand once "took care" of Nicki. Either that or A Rusted Essence actually, I can't decide! I think the first one is angstier and the second one is more hopeless.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Any of my PWPs?

8. Do you get hate on fics? In the beginning I would get a couple hate comments here and there because the only fics I wrote at the time were L/A and I guess that bothered people! Lol it was a different vibe back then (only two years ago but it was weird, I'm so glad that's a thing of the past woof!). Oh, and I really pissed off a couple puritians making Lestat fifteen years old in my mermaid fic. 🫣

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? 9/10 times my fics will be smut! I've written both guy-on-guy and girl-on-girl smut, and I find there's differences to each outside of... you know LOL the obvious! I always try to focus on the psychology behind the kinks and how things build and escalate throughout the narrative. It's much more important to me why they're doing what they're doing and how they connect through doing that, but if I can push the envelope of depravity just a bit too then I'm very happy!

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? Nope, no crossovers.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not a full fic.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Not yet!

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? No! I think I would like to one day but it would very much depend on the person and the story.

14. What’s your all time favorite ship? Lestat/Armand! But I very much love Armand/Louis and Armand/Daniel too, and of course poly combos are always fun and I do write and read a decent mix of all the above!

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? One of the anon fics. I think iykyk. Sorry, guys.

16. What are your writing strengths? I get the most compliments on my characterization, dialogue, and smut!

17. What are your writing weaknesses? I'm also trying to get better with drawing out my fics and creating a sense of slow burn, but I have no patience and I just have to get into the smut or at least reference it somewhere within the first 2k. So I'll work on that. One day. And I can't wait to write a proper 50k EVENTUALLY. Oh, and pacing! I feel like I really struggle with pacing.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? Lord help me, I do this when I write from Lestat's POV, which I do often. Usually it's just endearments or a phrase but... yeah. Absolutely this is not how bilingual people talk lmao but when it's vampire fic specifically I think it's just corny enough to be Ricey, if you get my drift!

19. First fandom you wrote for? VC! My two year ficiversary was in March!

20. Favourite fic you’ve written? I'm so bad at this question because I've noticed it tends to be the latest big thing I've been working on! So right now that's Drop Dead Gorgeous, a genderswapped L/A human AU! It's the first thing I wrote since I've been exploring my sexuality and it was really interesting from a creative perspective to get into the headspace of a woman obsessively attracted to another woman, and honestly it didn't take a lot for me to get there! It was super fun and horny and I really enjoyed writing it and I can't wait to start working on the next chapter!

1,917,213 as of this morning.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Dragon Age, Fallout 4 and Doctor Who are the three current. In the past I've written for Mass Effect, Southern Vampire Mysteries/True Blood and Borderlands. I have one (1) lonely Wayhaven Chronicles oneshot.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

What a Wicked Game to Play - 1590. This is my epic DA MGIT fic. Solas/OFC, rated E, 412K words.

Twist - 1416. This was my first DA longfic. Carly and Co. show up in the top five again. Solas/OFC, rated E, 197K words.

Junkyard Dogs - 551. My very first fic. Written for FO4 almost 7 years ago. Hancock/F!SoSu, rated E, 107K words.

Twist Some More - 460. An extended epilogue/love letter to Carly and Solas. Rated E, 67K words.

Humans Are Just...Like That - 327. A sorta crack treated seriously oneshot for Mass Effect. It began its life as a long thread in a Discord server. I made a comment to the effect that it should be turned into a fic, and everyone told me to go for it. So I did. FemShep/Garrus in the background, rated T, ~3K words.

5. Do you respond to comments?

Almost always. Even if it's just with emojis. I generally say that I will reply to every comment as long as it's polite.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

No More My Heart Beats Without You, a Solavelyan oneshot. 'Ware the tags. Rated E, 5K words.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

TSM, without a doubt. The entire point of the Twistverse was to write a happy ending Solavellan.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Rarely. I'd say I get more trolling than hate. To date I've only had to moderate one fic to keep it under control.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

*cackles* 51 of 113 of my fics are rated E and another 18 are rated M (although sometimes that's for violence). What kind? Any kind. Explicit, fade to black, character driven, pure PWP, established ship, there's a couple of threesomes in there, a variety of kink...

I am a shameless purveyor of sexual content.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I've only ever written in-franchise crossovers, and I don't think those count.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not to my knowledge.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nope. People are welcome to as long as they credit back to my original, though.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yes! I've written a couple round-robin style fics with the DAFF crew, and collaborated with my beloved Angel once or twice.

14. What's your all time favorite ship?

I'm poly and aro. OTP is not in my vocabulary. 🤣 But I have pairings I return to, time and again. The Doctor/Rose, Hancock/SoSu, Varric/Hawke, Solas/Anyone.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Just Like Fire. It started as a prompt fic when I was in a slump. But now I'm kinda over it and don't really feel like putting in the energy to wrap it up. Solavellan, rated E, 26K words.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Dialogue, smut, being succinct and bite-sized. Even in the longfics. And of course, canon shall be yeeted.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Endings! OMG, trying to get myself to a conclusion is like pulling teeth.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I'm eh about it. Sometimes I do it with fantasy languages, sometimes I do it if it's canon (I know, a rarity for me). Sometimes I just don't because it's more work than I care to do. It's case by case.

Fallout 4

20. Favorite fic you've written?

Uh... *forgets everything I've ever written*

Look, I tend to write for me first and foremost, so I reread a lot of my own work and inevitably get sucked into it. I am the target audience, after all. But there's a couple that I've reread the most:

Unexpected - FO4, Kellogg/SoSu, rated E, 30K words. This was my first real attempt at canon divergence and I still love it very much.

Hope Is a Fragile Thing - DA, Solas/OFC, rate T, 13K words. A soft but kinda sad post-canon thing. The goal with it was to both finish the writing before posting a word of it (which is how I do all my work now), and to write a MGIT without explaining how she got there.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

2 on my rote account, 21 on the other, so 23 total

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

across both accounts: 274,901 (47,220 in rote, 227,681 on the other one)

3. What fandoms do you write for?

realm of the elderlings at the moment, but i was writing for sherlock as recently as this spring (i feel like that explains a lot about me tbh lol)

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

the sherlock ones are redacted for the purposes of this post, and i only have the two rote ones, a safe place in the world and no other homeland.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

i try to and largely fail lol. i am bad at publicly interacting for some reason. i will talk at length to people in DMs but otherwise i mostly lurk. even the few responses i've given on rote pieces greatly outnumber all the times i've responded to comments on my other account. i never know what to say to people. but i keep every comment i get saved in a file bc they make me feel better and i read through them a lot. @commenters i promise i'm not ignoring you to be standoffish i'm just Bad At It but i love you all so much

6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

i don't tend to write anything that doesn't have a happy ending. in rote it's a guarantee even if there's some suffering along the way, and in my sherlock days i spent years primarily as a fluff writer so even before i expanded into longer more serious projects the happy endings were always the point for me.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

rote wise technically only one of them /has/ an ending. but in general my endings are always happy and i'm not sure how to rate one happiness over another.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

despite being involved in fic since 2012, i have dodged that bullet

9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?

not really. i hate writing it lol if something i write has a sex scene in it, it's going to usually be blurry and impressionistic and is mostly a vehicle for a specific chunk of dialogue or internal monologue that i wanted to include. it's an ordeal to write. those scenes take literally 4-6 times longer to write than any others. miserable.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

crossovers no but i love me an au.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

not that i know of

oh yeah several. mostly into chinese and russian for whatever reason.

13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?

no and i wouldn't even know where to start. i'm such a solitary creator lol

14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?

i write for exactly two fandoms i'll leave you to your deductions lol. my first pairing that i was obsessed with enough to now label a ship was armand&daniel from the vampire chronicles though (there's a reason my name is thenightisland)

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

i don't really have any active WIPs when it comes to fic (original stuff is a whole other can of worms). i usually can only focus on one thing at a time, but the other day i stumbled across some notes from like six years ago for a bbcs sound of music au that i would like to get back to eventually.

16. What are your writing strengths?

for rote i've been told i do a good job with characterization and imitating hobb's style and tone. based on the yelling i get on both accounts i'm good at closing lines. in every piece i just want to write That One Line that i know will make people feel crazy. i'd like to think i'm good at writing dialogue. everything i write both in fic and original stuff is built around conversations i want the characters to have and it's my favorite thing to write.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

sensory/physical details/set dressing. i get very in the character's head and disregard the surroundings in favor of internal monologue. i know that's because i'm a very internally focused person and so often wander around totally unaware of stuff outside myself (it's the autism lol). which means in writing i'm more willing to gloss over anything i deem irrelevant to whatever is happening emotionally between the people talking. the end result is there are certain details i draw attention to while disregarding everything else. (what color are the clothes? unless it's symbolically relevant, no idea. what are they eating? who knows. what does the room look like outside of the corner they're in? it's a mystery.) i am also the worst about what i dubbed "crutch words" where i'll get hung up on a certain word or phrase and overuse it.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

i've never done it and could probably only manage some bad french

19. First fandom you wrote for?

sherlock lol

20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?

this may be recency bias but i really like the stuff i've written for rote lol. similarly there was a sherlock fic that i started back in 2017 and was posting as i wrote it and then just. stopped and didn't come back to it until 2022 when i looked back over it and was like wait i like this (this is also why i don't start posting stuff until it's 80%+ complete already, to avoid that ever happening again lol). it was a book length fic and incredibly self indulgent and it's still one of my favorite things i've written. but rote fics allow me to do more with the actual prose bc there isn't the expectation of that specific Fic Tone in the writing and there isn't the weird loathing most fandoms have for first person pov so i'm very fond of my rote stuff.

3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?

I have written for the untamed, vampire chronicles, les mis, star trek, discworld and xmen on ao3, and on The Site Which Must Not Be Named I posted fic for the edge chronicles, harry potter, and teen titans. I also posted edge chronicles and teen titans and beyblade fics on dA and various forums back in the day.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

All In at 1636 kudos

5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

I don't really do angsty endings, because I'm baby, but the les trekkables fic you have and always will be ends with R dying (though as it's a star trek crossover you know Enjolras will figure out how to bring him back), and Soulmate Words and Solemn Promises is pretty sad but I'd say more bittersweet than angsty?

6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

oh boy, I'm gonna have to say All In - I am honestly very proud of the epilogue, sometimes I reread it when I want to be emotionally devastated in a good way l m a o

7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?

I do! difficult to say the craziest, as I feel like that's a matter of opinion, but I've written the aforementioned les trekkables with @dotsayers, as well as our dearly beloved but never published wondrous les hogwables (les mis/harry potter). @xaviersass and I workshopped about a million crossover AUs, including but not limited to xmen/grease, xmen/mr&mrs smith, xmen/suits, xmen/austen, xmen/potc, xmen/frozen, xmen/titanic, xmen/love punch, xmen/RED, xmen/aristocats, xmen/friends, and last but certainly not least, xmen/scooby doo :)

8. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

uhhh no. I would maybe be open to writing it, but not on my own askjdldsjkg it is too easy to make me cringe I would simply wimp out.

9. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

I only respond to comments if the commenter asks a specific question I feel needs answering. why? I guess because I don't really expect authors to respond to me when I leave comments, I see it as more like the tag system on tumblr - a sort of passive feedback-like interaction?

10. Have you ever received hate on a fic?

yes, but only from that one asshole troll who was surfing the vc side of ao3 for a while

uhhh not that I know of?

mmm not that I can think of

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

yep! I've co-written with @dotsayers on several les mis pieces, both published and not, as well as co-written with @xaviersass on some unpublished xmen stuff, and @spicyshimmy-blog on All In. I am currently co-writing with @ellethinthewoods on our MONSTER of an untamed AU. I really really enjoy co-writing!!!

14. What’s your all time favourite ship to write for?

oh man, uh... that's a tough one. I don't feel like I can really give a definitive answer, as whichever ship is my current obsession will always feel like my favourite haha! though kirk/spock was definitely good fun, and I really enjoyed writing nieyao in Where There's A Will, There's A Road

15. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

hmmm. there will always be a place in my heart for les hogwables ngl, as well as the fireman azazel AU, but I am legit gutted I never finished the human!loustat fic... maybe one day, when that hyperfixation inevitably rears its head again ;_;

16. What are your writing strengths?

I find dialogue very easy to churn out, and I have been told that I have a very cinematic style of describing scenes, but I think my biggest strength is my STUBBORNNESS when I decide I am going to finish a fic, and I am good at sticking to writing deadlines

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

oh boy, I would say action sequences, and also REMEMBERING TO DESCRIBE THE CHARACTER'S SURROUNDINGS. I tend to intensely focus on the characters and their interactions and that can often really bog the plot down... if there even is a plot...

18. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I've thrown in bits and pieces of french in VC fics, but I'm not really confident in any other languages to do full dialogue without a native speaker advising me

19. What was the first fandom you wrote for?

ahhhh BEYBLADE my beloved

20. What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?

oh hmmm, tough one. All In is definitely up there, as is The Slow Path, but honestly I will go back and reread One Week, Things That You Can't Say Tomorrow Day, and Balance all the time if I want cheering up. the as yet unnamed absolute sprawling behemoth of an untamed AU is absolutely gonna be my fave once it's done tho.

1) How many works do you have on AO3?

36 on ao3, with many others left in the past on livejournal or ffnet

2) What’s your total AO3 word count?

162k. it’s kind of a shame it doesn’t have the majority of my pre-2011 output as i never ported over my top four or five longest fics. i would’ve loved to see some genuine lifetime totals!

3) How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?

9 on ao3 (critrole, nier, hetalia, overwatch, trc, voltron, no. 6, star wars, tiger & bunny). if you expand trc to include anything clamp and throw in code geass then that covers everything i’ve ever published, though homestuck is by far the fandom i have the most WIPs for despite never finishing a single one and deserves a shoutout

4) What are your top five fics by kudos?

take my hand / take my whole life too: critrole, 9k, how essek and caleb’s relationship evolves through touch

blue sky, warm sun: critrole, 3.5k, six mornings caleb wakes with essek

dark night, bright stars: critrole, 3k, six nights caleb spends with essek

kitty love: star wars, 1.5k, kylo ren forms a bond with hux’s cat millicent

the walls kept tumbling down: critrole, 2k, caleb spontaneously visits essek after a hard day

spots 1-3 on the list are gladly accepted, given that i also think they’re some of my best and most broadly-appealing shadowgast. kitty love gets its spot despite being pure, pointless crack because it’s for a huge fandom, which is fine and fun but i don’t have a lot of personal attachment to it

the walls kept tumbling down is a surprise! it was a self-indulgent “i want a fic exactly like this to fix my mood and instead of digging through the internet for one i’ll just make one up” that i only worked on for a couple of days. i’m glad it clicked for other people!

5) Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

i always try to respond to comments, although sometimes a week or two pass by before i can find the energy to sit down and do it

admittedly comments have gone unanswered during months or years when i’m not writing fic and then it feels too awkward to a) go back and respond, and b) respond to any further comments on the fic even if they come in when i’m active. so instead those comments haunt my ao3 inbox forever (oops)

i do appreciate every single one though, and there are some comments that i go back to read if i need a pick-me-up just because they were so nice 😊

6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

i’ll link my no. 6 fic forgive me because it still dominates my top fics in terms of hits despite being 387 words long. i wrote it in 2011 in less than half an hour, if i’m remembering correctly, and there are a few clever bits in it that i’m still quite proud of

7) Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?

i don’t usually write or read “pure” crossovers but i do like fusion AUs where characters from one work are imported into the setting of another work

but it’s fandom-dependent. critrole has been an outlier in that i can count on one hand the number of AU fics i’ve read and liked enough to remember. some of my favourite canon-adjacent fics veer off wildly, but they’ve still got their roots in the universe

i’ve published 17 critrole fics myself and they’re all canon-adjacent. i’m only now working on my first fusion-type AU 🤷‍♂️

8) Have you ever received hate on a fic?

i have one distinct memory of receiving criticism on a fic. in hindsight, it was constructive and pretty fair, but i was a young teen and so it still haunts me

9) Do you write smut? If so what kind?

i do!! and i’m excited about it because it’s fairly new to me!

i write to the characters, and what kind of relationship i think they’d have, but it’s probably true that my interests tend towards certain relationship dynamics

10) Have you ever had a fic stolen?

not that i’m aware of!

11) Have you ever had a fic translated?

yes, actually! this was about about a decade ago so sadly the details have been lost in the haziness of memory and the inaccessibility of ffnet. i tried to dig it up last night but couldn’t find it again 😔

12) Have you ever co-written a fic before?

i don’t ... think so? my current roommate and i tried co-writing when we were teenagers but none of that got published. it’s possible i’m forgetting something from my livejournal/early tumblr days because i remember doing a lot of ask games and challenges with other writers and fandom friends

now i’m just an introvert who avoids invites to discords because i feel like i simply Do Not Have Time so 🤡 not sure it’s anywhere on the horizon

13) What’s your all time favourite ship?

i used to have shipping walls and pairing lists until 2015 or so but i have since accepted that i am changeable like the wind. my interests come and go!

i am a multi-shipper though as a general rule. i’ve never had such a loyalty to a pairing that it would bother me to pair one half with someone else, and i also don’t care at all whether or not a ship is canon. it’s just about what’s interesting!

14) What’s a WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

i’ve had remarkably sequential focus for my critrole fics and finished nearly every idea i’ve had so far. however, this ACME AU is testing me lol and i’ve spent so much time on it that my list of other ideas to write is only getting longer and longer. nothing is abandoned yet, because not much else has even been started, but i am starting to sweat a little

15) What are your writing strengths?

i love my writing style! i value simplicity and clarity: no flowery descriptions, easy words, few similes, little variance in sentence structures, etc. it can vary, based on my mood or the characters i’m writing, but i like doing more with less

i’ve spent years working at my own style and it is so satisfying to read something i wrote in 2011 and feel how familiar it still is while being able to pick out what i would change

16) What are your writing weaknesses?

recently, it’s been plot. if it can’t be conveyed by 2-4 characters talking to each other then i don’t know how to do it anymore 😭 i’m most invested in emotional resolutions, but it’s probably a good idea to have things happen sometimes!

17) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

i really do not enjoy this when it’s used as a “character quirk”. this includes nicknames, common phrases even if they are spoken that way in canon, and .. everything, really, that’s in a different language

i’ve spent a lot of time in spaces where it seemed widely agreed that doing so was not welcome, and i’ve had considerable fandom “culture shock” reading critrole fics. there are plenty of reasons to have caleb speaking “zemnian” or to emphasize his accent, and those reasons don’t need to be lofty or deep, but i do think there should be a reason beyond “haha this guy says ja instead of yeah”

i like different ones for different reasons, but the top contender might be such is the endlessness for nier automata. it’s a vampire/werewolf enemies-to-lovers fusion AU where i put 2b and 9s in an original universe of mine that i wrote about a lot when i was a teenager

i feel like i did a spectacular job of adapting the universe for nier and i thought i conveyed a lot about the world in a relatively short number of words (the entire fic is just under 5k). i’ve considered more than once that i should use this version of the universe going forward because i enjoy it so much!

Bottle of Red (Venom (Movie 2018)) (2060 words) - Anything Venom is way more popular than any of my other stuff. You Venom fans are THIRSTY. And I love you for it. :D The Little Death (Teen Wolf (TV)) (3058 words) - TW fans, ALSO thirsty, and I love YOU for it. I’m still not 100% with the characterization here, but I think it’s def. closer. The Light Will Guide You Home (Supernatural) (4622 words) Destiel - I’m really proud of this one - AU, tentacle creature Cas with feels, and it’s what got me into the original works anthology I’m in--Add Magic to Taste, with Duck Prints Press! I try to. Sometimes I’m overwhelmed and I don’t, but I always, always, always treasure them!!

6) What’s the fic you’ve writtenb with the angstiest ending?

When Living is Another Kind of Dying (Supernatural/Heroes crossover)(767 words) - I love this one. It’s super old, I wrote it on LiveJournal. But it’s solid, it imagines a world where Dean goes to avenge Sam and gives Peter That Scar.

7) What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

I mean, a huge number of my fics end happy. But I’ll say this because it’s also based on happy, sexy art and that’s awesome:

Adulting 101 (Supernatural) (2988 words) DCJ - A sweet AU where Dean meets Jimmy in Sioux Falls and then meets Cas and doesn’t know what to do...until he does.

8) Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?

I think they’re all sort of equally crazy, probably? Here, have most of them:

Playing Dice in the Dark (Supernatural/Good Omens)(2927 words) Destiel - Dean and Cas are Crowley and Aziraphale. Follow them through the ages. There is some dark, torturey stuff handled in a lighter, Pratchett-y way.

Phoenix Out of Blood (Supernatural/Heroes) (7583 words) Gen - early season Sam and Dean meet 5 Years Later version of Claire Bennett and they go on the run. A lot of feels, historical Dean/Jo, honestly an underappreciated fic. :)

Of Squints and Vampires (Angel/Bones) (2653 words) Gen - a very old one and not fantastic, but still fun. A demon gets shipped to the Jeffersonian. I did this for a doppleganger group a million years ago.

Drown Out the Clamor of Silence (Buffy/Tru Calling) (2681 words) Harrison/Faith - I loved this one, so dark and weird! Harrison meets a girl who looks like his sister but isn’t, and it ends up being both traumatic and healing, somehow. Another one for the doppleganger group.

9) Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Ah, yes. I wrote my first dark Wincest, full of non-con on both sides (demon!Dean), and people had massive issues with my tagging of who topped and who bottomed, which I found hilarious since it was rape, all the way down, but apparently who puts what into who was the main source of anger. I don’t tag for topping and bottoming anymore.

10) Do you write smut? If so what kind?

So. Much. So much smut. I don’t know what kind? the smutty kind? Usually with feels?

11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of.

12) Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nah, I’m not that big.

13) Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Once! It was a Veronica Mars fic, five million years ago.

14) What’s your all time favorite ship?

I can’t. I just can’t. There are too many. Spuffy, Weever, Destiel, Wincest...anything trust based and a little fucked up is right up my alley.

15) What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

Grimm Series - I started this, and loved it, but I lost track of the series. It was going to be fairy tale based, Juliette/Renaud and Nick/Monroe endgame. I love the beginning of it. Maybe I’ll get back to it, it was so fun, and honestly, pretty darn good.

16) What are your writing strengths?

I write a good sentence. I think I have good flow and good characterization for the most part. I’m solid when it comes to smut.

17) What are your writing weaknesses?

Plot. All the way, I’m terrible at plot and not great at pacing. BUT, I’m actively trying to improve and I think I am!

18) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

Depending on the situation, either type it in the other language and have the response show what it meant, or type it in italics and then ‘he said in Russian’ or whatever. Is it right? I dunno. I don’t do it very often.

19) What was the first fandom you wrote for?

I wrote fanfic for a high school assignment for Farenheit 451, which I’m fairly certain was brilliant, and then the first time I knew what fanfic was and did it on purpose, it was for the TV show, Witchblade. It was so long ago, I think I posted it on a forum and I don’t know where it is anymore.

20) What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

Can one choose a child? Gah. There are so many, honestly. If you get this far and want a rec, I’ll rec you one based on your interests, just send me an ask.

@shark-myths tagged me to answer a bunch of deep questions, and let me start by telling you that I am flattered someone as cool as her thought to tag me, so thank you shark! If you guys want to, I tag @stereostatic @xylobones @justkindaconfused and @mmetacarpals.

1. Do you prefer writing with a black pen or a blue pen?

Black pen, hands down. It’s just cleaner, you know? It’s Crisp.

2. Would you prefer to live in the country or the city?

City. I live in Tennessee, and it’s pretty, but I don’t want to live here forever. I can, however, see myself coming back every once in a while to galavant among the kudzu and listen to the cicadas scream.

3. If you could learn a new skill what would it be?

I wish I had more cooking and baking skills. I used to cook with my mom a lot, but then I started getting *shudders* homework and I didn’t have as much time. I really should start cooking and baking with her again.

4. Do you drink your tea/coffee with sugar?

Yes. So much. And cream.

5. What was your favorite book as a child?

I...actually can’t remember if I had a favorite book? I loved the Magic Tree House series, and then in middle school I binge-read all seven of the Chronicles of Narnia, which I also loved, but all the favorite books I can think of now are books I read much more recently.

6. Do you prefer baths or showers?

Showers. I feel awkward in baths, cause I never fill them up enough, so then I’m just laying half-exposed in lukewarm water. I think if I ever have a deep claw foot tub I’ll try taking baths again and see how I feel. Plus, in the shower I can re-enact scenes from the music video for “All These Things that I’ve Done” by The Killers.

7. If you could be one mythical creature, what would it be?

Just one? There’s so many I would love to be: fae, nymph, mermaid, vampire, werewolf, etc.

8. Paper or electronic books?

Paper. I like making notes in books, and I think it adds character to see my own handwriting/squiggly lines on the pages. Even if my handwriting is atrocious. <3

9. What is your favorite item of clothing?

My MANIA tour jacket. It’s comfy and cozy but also badass and makes me feel powerful.

10. Do you like your name or would you like to change it?

Okay, so my full name is a little too Southern debutant for my liking, but everyone calls me Gracie, and I don’t mind that. I sometimes wish I had a slightly more ambiguous name, but nothing too different? Like “Gray” and “Grayson” have a certain appeal to me.

11. Who is a mentor to you?

Pete Wentz.

12. Would you like to be famous, and if so, what for?

Yes, but not like a huge celebrity. Intimate fandom type fan base. And I would LOVE to be a famous author. That’s my goal in life.

13. Are you a restless sleeper?

On occasion. Most of the time when I sleep, I sleep like the dead, but if my anxiety’s bad or I watched something scary that day then I’ll wake up a few times in the night.

14. Do you consider yourself a romantic person?

I think I have the potential to be. I definitely have my moments.

15. Which element best represents you?

I think earth?

16. Who do you want to be closer to?

Someone I used to be really close to, but we had a kind of an unspoken friend break-up and we drifted apart for a while. I want us to be closer friends again.

17. Do you miss someone at the moment?

My brother, who’s currently at my dad’s for the weekend.

18. Tell us about an early childhood memory?

My mom runs a lot, and when I was little she would take me with her and push me in a jogging stroller. The parks she ran in were always really nice, and sometimes she would run in the evening while fireflies were out. I would just sit in the stroller and listen to Rascal Flatts on a portable CD player, but those moments always feel very magical when I think about them.

19. What is the strangest thing you’ve eaten?

I ate popcorn off my school’s football field on a dare. Oh, and dandelions. 0/10, do not recommend- they’re nothing but grit.

20. What are you most thankful for?

Having family members that support me.

21. Do you like spicy food?

I can’t handle anything spicy. Even Chipotle makes my eyes water. :(

22. Have you ever met someone famous?

Nope.

23. Do you keep a diary or journal?

Yes! Most of my journals are poetry, I think, but I love the feeling of filling a notebook with my thoughts.

24. Do you prefer to use a pen or a pencil?

Pencil when I’m writing, because sometimes my letters come out wonky and I have to fix them Right Then, but if I’m annotating I use a pen because it looks better.

25. What is your star sign?

Virgo

26. Do you like your cereal soggy or crunchy?

Crunchy

27. What would you want your legacy to be?

That I was a smart, accomplished person who was fun to hang out with.

28. Do you like reading, what was the last book you read?

I do! The last book I read was The Best American Poetry of 2015.

Compliments, cuddles, and showing them things I think they would like.

30. Do you like ice in your drinks?

No. I don’t drink things very fast, so it would just become a gross, watered down mess.

31. What are you afraid of?

Breaking down and losing control.

32. What is your favorite scent?

Bonfire smoke

33. Do you address older people by their name or surname?

Depends on how I know them. If it’s like, a parent of a friend, I’ll say “Mrs./Mr. [insert first name].”

34. If money was not a factor, how would you live your life?

However felt right, I guess.

35. Do you prefer swimming in pools or the ocean?

Pools, I think. I don’t have to worry about being swept away by waves in a pool.

36. What would you do if you found $50 on the ground?

Put it in the bank.

37. Have you ever seen a shooting star?

Not that I can remember.

38. What is one thing you would want to teach your children?

Your worth isn’t measured by how productive you are or how strong you are. It’s okay to break down and take mental health days. Those messages weren’t engraved in me very well, and dealing with the repercussions isn’t fun.

39. If you had to have a tattoo, what would it be and where would you get it?

My brother’s birthday in Roman numerals on the back of my neck. I also know I want to get Orion tattooed on the inside of my bicep.

40. What can you hear now?

Bugs outside and my mom and her boyfriend talking downstairs.

41. Where do you feel the safest?

In my room, and the passenger seat of my best friend’s car.

42. What is one thing you want to overcome/conquer?

My anxiety

43. If you could travel back to any era, what would it be?

Either late 90s/early two thousands, or Ancient Greece. I want to join a cult of Artemis or Dionysus.

Not nourishing new friendships the way I should have.

I think it might’ve been Jerry McGuire? I’m not sure. Time is a blur.

Grimm, a paranormal(?) detective show based on the Brothers Grimm fairytales.

49. Invent a word and it’s meaning.

I’m actually going to use this to geek out about Latin for a second. One of my favorite tricks in Latin is that you can add the suffix “ifer” to basically any noun to mean [noun]-bringer. Like melifer means honey-bringer, and noctifer means night-bringer. I don’t know why, but I love it.

First of all, why? I can’t just choose ten pairings. I feel as if I am betraying my other favourite pairings. I love them as much as the ones I’ve mentioned. But nothing I can do about it.

Well, I choose yume for this and the above two images represent their relationship pretty well. They are my favourite illustrations and one can actually see the love they both have for each other. It’s like no one else matters. You can actually see the tenderness in their eyes, how much they care for each other.

4. Describe your favorite ship in seven words or less.

InuKag : they were born for each other.

Sei and Shimako : sensitive couple. Adorable and sweet.

Sakura and Syaoran : love that transcends time and space.

Touya and Yukito : meant to be together in every world.

Seishirou and Subaru : they are meant to fall for each other.

Kamui and fuuma : just admit you love each other.

Akihiko and Misaki : meant to be together.

Nowaki and Hiroki : sometimes second love is true love.

Yona and Hak : always there for each other.

Kaname and Yuuki : eternal lovers.

6.What’s your go-to episode or scene when you need ship feels?

Well, this one is difficult because there are tons of scenes which I love but I’ll do my best.

Inuyasha and Kagome :

When Naraku reveals who he is for the first time in ep 21. Any episode with Koga, that really shows inuyasha’s jealousy. The movies…god. First and second movie. All scenes I guess.

Sei and Shimako :

Season two episode 6. Though there are scenes in many episodes of season 1 too.

Sakura and Syaoran :

When Yuuko gives them new bodies and real syaoran is born. In the beginning when sakura is planning to tell she loves him but in the end couldn’t. When syaoran fights kamui. When Syaoran is killed by his son and his greatest regret is that he couldn’t hear those words. I guess I should stop. At this rate I am going to end up with an essay.

Touya and Yukito/Yue :

When touya gives his power to yue. I ship yue and touya and yukito and touya. The last scene in original cardcaptor sakura manga where they are together in the kitchen. When touya corners yukito in school, he knows something is up.

Seishirou and Subaru :

Of course the scene in which seishirou dies. Goddammit. I can’ t think about it. Subaru loses his senses [ in Tokyo Babylon] when seishirou’s eye is gouged out. This is getting too painful for me. I’ll stop.

This pairing reduces me to tears. They belong together. They should’ve been together with hokuto and kakyou.

Kamui and Fuuma :

Little fuuma helping little kamui in one of the extras. Well, just read X. The whole thing is unresolved sexual tension between the two. The creators said it themselves they are soulmates, I mean even in TRC one can see there is something going on between them. Subaru and seishirou is blatantly obvious.

Misaki and Akihiko :

When haruhiko kidnaps misaki, when akihiko comes to pick up misaki from his brother’s house, the train scene. There are many scenes especially the ones with Ijuiin Kyou.

Nowaki and Hiroki :

Again, there are many scenes. The library scene. Goddammit. It reduces me to tears every time. When hiroki spies on nowaki, then sends him flowers. Aww. Just remembering them brings a stupid smile to my face.

Yona and Hak :

Episode 24 of the anime, in manga when that festival happened in one of the villages and yona danced in the village garb. There are many scenes throughout the manga.

Kaname and Yuuki :

Well, volume 11 and 12 scenes. Then the scenes after yuuki sees kaname’s past, end of volume 13 and beginning of volume 14, all the scenes in which yuuki says she needs to go to her kaname. When yuuki takes kaname’s blood after being awakened. There are many scenes.

7.What song or songs remind you of your favorite fandom, character or ship?

Hmm, as such no song in particular.

I did read a fanfiction though which had, “I am watching you” for seishirou and Subaru and I couldn’t help but find it hilarious.

And I think, A Thousand Years by Christina Perri suits yume. It’s true after all.

8. If the creators of your favorite fandom asked you to write the ship canon-confirmation episode, what will you write/how will it happen?

Hmm. Well, I hope yuuki gets reincarnated somehow and she and kaname live a long happy life together. Maybe kaname is going somewhere and he bumps into a girl, who has long brown hair and when they look at each other he realizes it’s the girl from his memories. And that’s it. After that kaname never sees the butterfly familiar because yuuki is with him now.

X is never gonna end but I always had a feeling that both fuuma and kamui would die. Because fuuma said that only kamui can grant his wish. They both die.

Then they are shown together in another alternate universe.

I always thought fuuma and kamui suffered equally. You cannot weigh their suffering. Fuuma lost everything because kamui made one choice. Their story is too tragic.

I’ll come back to this question later.

9.Do you prefer to indulge in (consume or create) fanart or fanfic of your favorite ship?

Sometimes I sketch and I create edits for my favourite series. And I enjoy seeing fanarts and manga colourings. I write fanfictions too. I love reading fanfictions.

10.Smut or fluff? (VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION xD)

Both. Both. I love both.

11.What ship are you embarrassed to admit you like?

Not one. They are all great ships. Nothing to be embarrassed about.

12.What task are you most likely to procrastinate so you can indulge in your ship or fandom?

I sacrifice my sleep sometimes. That’s about it.

13.How many hours of the day do you spend reading fanfic or looking at fanart or other media?

When there is nothing to do, quite a lot of hours. But when exams are there, I see how the preparation is. But I usually spend quite a lot of time on it.

14.How many memorabilia’s do you own of your favorite fandom or ship (clothes, plushies, etc.)?

Well, I’ve got lots of volumes of each series and artbooks too. And I’ve also got drama CD’s of some series and magazines.

15.If you could own one authentic item from your favorite fandom world, what would it be?

Hmm. Not anything in particular.

16.What fandom have you found to be too toxic to deal with?

Ah. The best question. Well, I haven’t been in inuyasha fandom but I know it’s pretty weird because for some bullshit reason kagome is shipped with sesshoumaru and inuyasha is portrayed as a person who violates her. Yikes.

Now, I have got nothing against shipping characters who aren’t together. I do that a lot but when the same people come onto inuyasha/kagome and sesshoumaru/kikyo fanarts and spout shit, well I get angry then. Because I adore sesshoumaru and kikyo. It doesn’t happen but I still like it and it has the most gorgeous fanarts ever.

If sesskag and rinsess, which is weird no matter how it’s cut, shippers come and say this would’ve been better if it was sesshkag fanart / fiction, well I get angry then. Sesshoumaru is my favourite character ever and I really don’t like seeing people think he only belongs with sesskag shippers. What the hell?

He is no one’s property. The only character he remotely showed something for was Kagura. And I am not gonna open Sesshoumaru and Rin thing. That is....well. Let’s just leave it.

Clamp fandom. I dunno…I am not particularly in it but I read some comments on some sites and it’s pretty annoying when some people say you must acknowledge kotori and kamui thing.

Sorry, there was no thing.

Kotori was obsessed with kamui. Did she deserve to die. Hell no. But kotori and kamui just doesn’t exist. I mean the creators themselves said : don’t call kamui and fuuma brothers. No. They are soulmates. Fuuma is all what kamui thinks about. Even in colour illustrations which shows the group, Kotori is always seen glomping kamui like some weird obsessed fangirl. It’s disconcerting. Kamui is always shocked or surprised. Well, whatever kamui and fuuma belong together.

And now the most toxic fandom. Vampire knight. I stopped posting in the tags quite a while back because I am just tired. I’ve had enough.

Zeki shippers : unable to accept yuuki loved kaname way more than she loved zero. It’s blatantly obvious if you read the manga. But the shippers are not only rude but they also get personal and insult the blogger. They mock the other shippers and keep on ranting and raving about abuse and whatever nonsense that was prevalent in the forums between 2010-2014. Now the same thing happens here on tumblr.

Zeki shippers are unable to accept that not everyone worships zero’s character. Honestly, I never hated zero. I was always like, I want kaname and yuuki together, zero can be with someone else. But his fans and shippers are just nasty. I’ve never encountered a single decent member of this ship. They are rude and insulting and love to send anon messages.

Nope. Not fond of tattoos.

19.What is the strangest thing you’ve done to honor your favorite fandom, ship or character?

Nothing.

Thanks so much to both @a-candle-for-sherlock and @sanspatronymic for tagging me on this fun thing!

First ship you ever read fic for: To be honest, it’s so far back in the mists of time that I’m not really sure? I read published pastiches and novelizations of my fandoms from childhood onward; the internet arrived in my high school years, and most of what I read then was gen rather than shippy. But I do remember reading very tame Lestat/Louis Vampire Chronicles fic in the bad old days when Anne Rice was aggressively suing fic writers. So we’ll call that the first shippy fic I read :)

First ship you ever wrote fic for: Technically I suppose it was Spike/Dru, although I never posted that online. The first shippy fics I actually posted were unrequited Snape/Lily.

Ship you write the most now: Holmes/Watson

Ship you read the most now: Lately, it’s Dean/Cas

Newest ship: Dean/Cas

Rare ship you wanna read more of: Vimes/Vetinari. I want to read more of that pairing so much I’m resorting to writing for it. Very very slowly. I’d also love to read more Peter Wimsey/Harriet Vane, and Peaceable Sherwood/Barbara Grahame from The Sherwood Ring. And, what the hell, also Delenn/Lennier from Babylon 5. And Hercules/Iolaus, why not, let’s party like it’s 1999.

Your taboo ship: Hmmm, I’m not sure whether this question is asking what ship I consider taboo, or what ship I like that others consider taboo? If the former, I’m not about to give anyone grief over any fictional ship. As for my own reading preferences, I’m not a multi-shipper, so if I care enough to ship any couple in the first place, it’s pretty much guaranteed that I’m not personally interested in reading about them being paired up with other characters. So my own tastes are narrow, but I cordially wish joy to the wide spectrum of fellow readers, writers, and ships in their varieties. As for whether there is any ship I personally like that others consider taboo, I suppose the closest I come to that is Snape/Lily? Lots of people have strong squicks against that one.

They never met in canon ship: Interesting...um...I don’t know if I have one of these, really. I can’t think of one. Although, if I can use a friendship rather than a romantic/sexy ship for this answer, then it would be Methos & Darius on Highlander. I like the idea of them as friends and I’ve written an offline fic or two with my best friend exploring their friendship a bit.

Your unexpected ship: Javert/Valjean took me a little bit by surprise, although it shouldn’t have. It’s just that I read that book at such a young age (I was around 13, I think), and loved those characters for years before shipping in general and slash shipping in particular were at all my thing, so I just...thought of them in a different way for a long time. And then sort of had my view of them transformed by the idea of this pairing and some of the gorgeous fics written for it. It’s such a departure from the book in some ways, but in another sense it seems to fulfill its themes in a more complete and gentle way than the novel itself did. I find this a wonderfully comforting and hopeful pairing.

The ship you always forget to give love to: My thing with shipping is that the wheel goes round. So, I tend to have phases where I’m quite focused on one ship and hardly read anything else. But eventually I roll back around and revisit my older ships that I haven’t checked in on for a while. It’s not that I’m forgetting to love them. I’m giving myself breaks so I don’t burn out on them, knowing that I’ll be more likely to happily circle back to visit again later if I don’t overdo things the first time around.

Ship your OC with a canon character: That’s not really my thing. Although, if we count authorized novels, I will say that I like Mara Jade and am fine with her eventually marrying Luke, although I was pleased that Zahn ended his first trilogy without going in that direction with them. (Forgive me if this sounds like Greek to you, this is an early 1990s Star Wars thing).

A ship you’re embarrassed to ship: Eh. Among fellow fans, I’m not embarrassed about my enthusiasms. But it’s not something I would talk about with just anybody.

Your most romantic ship: If I’m reading it at all, it’s because I think it’s romantic. So, all of them. But if I were to try to name the happiest, most emotionally tender and honest couple...maybe Peter/Harriet.

Your sexiest ship: Well, again, I think they’re all sexy. But which pairings involve two gorgeous people whom I consider roughly equally attractive? Let me think...um...Kara/Lee from BSG, perhaps. And maybe Charles/Erik (in their First Class iterations).

Your most tragic ship: Oh, several contenders here. Kara/Lee. Charles/Erik. Delenn/Lennier. And then there are a few that don’t have the scope of tragedy, but are all the more painful for their more down-to-earth unhappy endings, like David Addison/Maddie Hayes or Jo/Laurie. Even Kira/Odo makes me sad, because although it was their choice to part and they did it with great love and affection, they still walked away from each other when I wanted them not to.

A ship you want more content for: Well, all the ones I mentioned as rare above. But honestly I don’t care how many fics are already out there for any of my pairings, I’m always really happy to see more. Whether their archive is large or small, I love finding new stories about all these characters. The same is true for the many pairings and gen relationships I haven’t mentioned in this meme, too, but which remain dear to my heart.

Child of War - Chapter 1: Going Greek

Fandoms: The Underland Chronicles by Suzanne Collins, Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan

Summary: Two years after the events of the Underland Chronicles, and one year after Blood of Olympus, Gregor and his family are enjoying a peaceful life far from the troubles of New York City– and the war-like Underland hidden away, far beneath the bustling city streets. That is, until strange, fiendish creatures begin to appear more and more frequently, beings that Gregor is certain shouldn’t be real. Soon a shocking reality is uncovered; descended from Greek gods, he has become a prime target for ancient monsters. What will he do now, as the Warrior he worked so hard to vanquish is forced to return from the grave..?

Rating: 13+ for language, blood, violence, death

For the first time ever, Gregor silently thanked the powers that be for the existence of heavy, wooden school-desks.

Before Gregor stood a flaming, half bronze vampire with hooves, and he couldn’t move a muscle. Every fiber of his being was shrieking at him to RUN, GET AWAY FROM THAT THING, but it was like he was frozen in place. His legs wouldn’t respond, as though he had been turned to stone. Gregor had felt helpless many times in his life, but never like this.

And then a startling voice cut through the horrible scene, shouting from the doorway.

“Hey, fang-freak! I’m pretty sure this qualifies as an inappropriate teacher-student interaction!” Gregor knew that voice... And apparently the ‘fang-freak’ in question did as well, since her scorching gaze immediately snapped away with a flash of recognition, a vicious snarl curling her lip. “I’ll have to ask you to kindly step away from the demigod!”

Suddenly, the eye contact broken, Gregor realized he could move again. Staggering backward, he bumped into the desks behind him, nearly falling backwards over them. However, his attention was fully on the speaker who had most likely just saved his life.

It was one of the kids he sat with at lunch; what was his name again? Gregor wished he could remember, considering the guy just risked his hide by enraging a furious flaming wraith for him. The kid didn’t really seem like the fighting type, though, with his fluffy brown hair that looked like it hadn’t been combed in a year, dark chocolate eyes, and an unusual stride that Gregor figured would be rude to ask about... Today he was wearing a ratty maroon college jacket with the initials of what Gregor figured was probably a really reputable school, though he had no idea what they stood for.

Maybe he’d take the time to ask about that afterward, assuming they survived this lovely encounter.

“Stay out of this, wretched little goat!” the fiery being screeched. Goat? Okay, that’s a weird insult. Then again, lots of things that were being said sounded pretty weird... Like demigod, for example. Where had that come from? “I think I’ll have to give you a detention!” Scorching flames flashed around her clawed fingers...

There was no time to think, only to act.

Gregor grabbed hold of one of the desks, and just as a ball of fire left the monster’s hand, shooting straight at the other boy, the makeshift shield soared through the air... FWOOSH! The tabletop immediately caught alight, and while it didn’t block the inferno entirely, it was enough to slow the blazing fireball down. As the kid in the hallway dove behind the wall for cover from the splintered object, smoke and ash and the scent of burnt wood and plastic poured from the explosive collision. Gregor braced himself, covering his face with one sleeve. Some glowing cinders drifted, marking his sweatshirt with spots of dark gray as they burned the fabric...

My mom is going to kill me when I get home.

The fire alarm blared, snapping Gregor from the moment of astonishment.

He shot off for the door, bounding right over the scorched tiles and lingering bits of burning debris... Gregor nearly skidded into the lockers, turning just in time-- and an arm caught his shoulder.

It was that guy again. The one who’d caught the vampire lady’s attention.

“Come on!” he spoke quickly, taking off, just about dragging the former Warrior in the process. Gregor didn’t have to be told twice; with the furious flaming creature howling in rage just behind, there was no time to lose. He didn’t know what that thing was, but he knew it was really, really bad news... And whoever she was, she knew him.

Nothing was more chilling than that.

Suddenly, Gregor heard a sharp hissing sound from somewhere behind, and he almost grinned. The sprinklers were going off... Somehow, he doubted their fiery assailant would appreciate that. Even so, he found it hard to be amused with some deadly nightmare right on their tail.

“That thing--” he stammered out as they ran, not daring to look back, “You-- you saw that too, right? What was that?”

“Empousai!” came the response; “Greek vampire ladies, basically!” That fulfilled Gregor’s suspicion... Whoever this kid was, he wasn’t exactly ‘normal’ either. Just what, exactly, was going on here? And more importantly, why?

It was then that he noticed something; even though the clopping of their pursuer was too far away to be audible, he could still make out the distinctive noise of hooves clacking on the hard floor... Gregor glanced down, and suddenly the insult from earlier made a lot more sense.

He really is a goat. Or rather, he was half goat.

Gregor wasn’t sure how or when, but his strange acquaintance seemed to have lost his pants along the way. He suspected it was on purpose, considering the boy sure ran a lot quicker without them. Everything from the waist down was that of a goat, complete with shaggy brown fur, a small tail, and nimble hooves. The teen wasn’t sure of the exact name, though he could swear he’d heard of a creature like this in Greek mythology.

Greek vampire ladies...

Gregor had heard the term ‘going Greek,’ but he was pretty sure this wasn’t what it referred to. I’m definitely losing my mind. Myths were just that-- myths. Everybody knew those were just old fairy tales by long-lost civilizations with too much time on their hands... Right?

“You--” Gregor tried to ask, fumbling for the words, “You’re not-- WHOA!” All at once, a blast of fire shot from behind them; both boys ducked in unison, the flaming strike just narrowly missing. The heat alone was more than enough to sear the hair on the back of Gregor’s neck... A moment of hesitation, and they’d both be extra crispy.

“Maybe save the questions for later, buddy!” suggested the goat boy.

“Good idea.”

By the time they’d stopped running, the school was several blocks away, and the sound of fire engines could be heard in the distance... The goat kid started to slow down first, seeming slightly out of breath. Taking note, Gregor brought his pace down as well, and finally they stopped...

“... So.” He looked to the other boy, feeling oddly numb. “Either this is the weirdest dream ever, or I just got chased by a flaming Greek vampire, and you’re a goat.” The boy made a sound that almost sounded like a nervous laugh, but it wasn’t... It was more of an irritated bleat.

“I’m a satyr, not a goat,” the boy corrected. “There’s a difference.” Satyr. Yep, that was definitely the name he recalled... Gregor had never really paid a lot of attention to those old stories, but maybe he should have.

“Got it.” Glancing back the way they’d come from, the former Warrior frowned... The place was definitely in flames, he could see the smoke from there. He felt a pang of guilt, but on the other hand... What more could he have done? “... Hey, um...” Brown eyes flicked back to the satyr as he fumbled for a name.

“Leif,” the other boy supplied. “My name’s Leif Rockden.” Gregor had thought the name was kind of odd back then, but now it made a bit more sense. Satyrs were supposed to be connected with nature, right..?

“Leif,” he resumed, gaze drifting back to the rising clouds of ashen gray... “You called me something earlier. A ‘demigod.’ What’d you mean by that?” Last Gregor had checked, a demigod was somehow blood-related to the gods... He might have zoned out a bit during that discussion. The satyr sat down on one of the metal street-side benches, patting the spot beside him.

“You might want to sit down,” he suggested. “This could get long. Or, you could fall over from shock. That’s happened before.” Gregor was a bit skeptical of that last bit, but decided it was better to humor his new ‘friend.’ Taking a seat, the teen vaguely wondered how nobody seemed to notice the other kid’s goat half. People were walking right past, as though this was a perfectly ordinary sight.

Maybe they just weren’t paying close attention?

“Okay, so,” Leif started, “You know about the Greek gods and all that, right?” Gregor nodded once in confirmation. “Well, long story short, they’re real, and so are all the stories that come with them. And,” he added with a broad gesture towards Gregor, “You’re a part of the family tree.”

“That’s impossible,” he decided. “I mean, I think I’d know if I was... You know.”

“There’s been lots of weird stuff in your life, right?” Gregor felt an odd chill down his spine... “Strange things. Scary things. Things you can’t quite explain. Am I right?” The boy didn’t have to answer; his expression answered for him.

“You’ve definitely got the scent,” Leif stated, shaking his head a bit. “It’s not as strong as I’m used to, so you might be second generation. Do you know both your parents?”

“Yeah,” Gregor answered, unable to believe he was really having this conversation.

“Probably second gen then,” the satyr confirmed, giving an affirmative nod. “Maybe more, not sure. You’ve got an awful weird scent even as demigods go. It’s a wonder you weren’t spotted before now.”

“Gee, thanks,” Gregor muttered, thinking back to the Underland. Somehow, he had a feeling you couldn’t wash off the stink of immortal lineage. “So, what now? What happens from here?” If I’m second generation, does that mean Lizzie and Boots are in danger too? The whole situation seemed so bizarre and unreal, but so did the rest of his life...

“Well.” Leif leaned back on the bench a bit, crossing one goat leg over the other. “There’s a place for people like you. It’s a refuge of sorts, where you can learn the ropes of the godly Greek world. You’re not the only demigod out there, far from it actually. That’s why they send out scouts like me to sniff you out. You’ll be safe there, and it'll keep the monsters away from home, too. ”

That cold feeling started again, deep down. “I can’t just leave,” Gregor protested. “I still have classes to finish, and that’s not even mentioning my family...” He cringed internally at the thought. The memory of his mother, sitting alone at the kitchen table until late in the night, waiting... First his father had vanished without a trace, taken in by the Underland gate in their laundry room, then him and Boots. It was many months later before she even knew that they were alive, let alone where they had disappeared to. Gregor could never do that to her again. “We’re going to have to tell them everything.”

“Can do,” Leif answered, hopping to his feet, er, hooves. “Just keep in mind, we can’t stick around too long. Empousai don’t give up that easy. And now that one monster’s on your trail...”

The goat boy didn’t have to finish that sentence.

It had taken the pair a little while to reach the old farmhouse, but Gregor wished it had taken longer.

The old oak creaked in greeting, now devoid of its creepy crow-like denizens. The swing swayed slightly in a light breeze, somehow seeming terribly melancholy. The entire world seemed so much different, now that Gregor knew he might not see it again for a long, long time. He climbed the wooden steps to the back door, reaching out one cautious hand and pulling the handle.

“Mom, I’m home!” he called, trying to sound a lot more optimistic than he felt. Leif tagged along behind, his goat half disguised once more...

“Gregor?” She hurried in from the other room immediately, a cell phone clutched in one hand; Gregor winced at the sight. It was obvious she had been extremely stressed... A mixture of relief and concern was written all over her face, but also clear confusion. “Thank goodness, the school called and they said there was a fire, they said it was some kind of an arson attack! What on earth happened? You have everyone worried sick!”

“Mrs. Reid,” Leif interjected, “Maybe I should take it from here.”

Gregor had a feeling his mother wasn’t going to take this too well.

He was right.

For her credit, Gregor’s mom did sit and listen to the entire thing, from the start to the end. She certainly wasn’t happy about it, but it was becoming more and more clear that her liking the situation really didn’t make a difference.

“... Camp Half-Blood,” she repeated again, trying to get used to this idea. The reality that, once again, her son was going somewhere strange, and dangerous, and confusing, and there was absolutely nothing she could do to prevent it. “How soon do you have to leave?”

“As soon as we can.” Leif seemed a lot more serious now, but also a lot more uncomfortable. Gregor couldn’t blame him. This didn’t seem like an easy job to have, that was for sure. “We’ll travel by train. It’s not super cheap, but more affordable than the alternatives. Plus, without knowing his ancestry, it’s probably the safest bet, too. We have a chaperone who’ll meet us at the train station.”

She nodded dully, noticeably pale. No doubt this was her worst nightmare... Gregor couldn’t help feeling sick, knowing what this was putting her through. What it was going to put all of them through...

“Can you at least wait until your father gets home from work?” The question was spoken quietly, hardly more than a whisper. Gregor nodded, frowning...

“... Yeah. But I better get packing, so that I’m all ready to go.” He hated this. He hated it more than he could even put into words. They came here to get away, to escape from the madness, from the prophecies, from the dangers...

And yet, here they were again.

The more things changed... The more they stayed the same.

Gregor headed up the stairs to his room without another word, dragging out an old luggage bag from under his bed... He brushed off the dust, then started going through drawers in his dresser, picking out everything he was going to need. As many batches of clothes as he could fit, his toothbrush, toothpaste, a comb, soap, a couple extra jackets... A Swiss army knife with about a dozen accessories, some music CDs, a shoebox filled with letters from the Underland. A few notebooks, pens, and pencils. Some paper to send letters of his own. The little bank where he kept his spare change... A couple flashlights, too. Just in case. And in his pocket, a black plastic toy bat. Ares.

It all felt so familiar, but not in a good way.

Gregor zipped up the navy blue travel bag, and sighed. His life, contained in one rectangular piece of luggage. When would he be coming back? Leif had said most people only stayed over the summer, but... Gregor hadn’t qualified as ‘most people’ for a long, long time.

He wasn’t sure what was coming next, but the former Warrior had a sneaking suspicion he wouldn’t like it.

‘I wouldn’t want anyone interrupting my audience with the famed Warrior, now would I?’ The monster’s words echoed in his head, filling the boy with dread.

Maybe there really was no running away from destiny.

It was time to say goodbye.

Gregor had switched out his mildly singed jacket for a fresh one, a black hoodie with a band name on the front. Leif had briefly questioned the choice...

“It’s almost summer out there. Aren’t you roasting in that?”

Gregor frowned and pulled up one sleeve for a moment, revealing the pale streaks that marked his skin... Scars, more than anyone could ever count. The satyr blinked, then glanced away, a hint of guilt in his expression. Gregor pulled the cloth back down...

“... Point taken.”

They headed to the front door, Gregor wheeling the luggage behind him, packing it into the trunk of their minivan. He paused, looking back to his family. When would he see them again? He didn’t know. Gregor’s dad had agreed to drive them there, but this might be the last he saw of the others for a long, long time.

It was almost time. He came around, giving each of his family members a parting hug... Lizzie was barely holding it together, but he could tell she was doing her best.

“I’ll be okay,” he told her, managing a forced smile. “I mean, it’s a summer camp, it can’t be all bad.” The girl smiled back, but he knew she was still worried.

“Bye bye!” Boots declared brightly, waving. “See you soon!”

“See you soon, Boots!” He didn’t have the heart to tell her otherwise.

“Make sure to call when you get there,” his mother instructed, still just as concerned as ever. He couldn’t blame her. “Stay safe, baby. ”

“I will,” Gregor promised, hugging her tightly. He didn’t want to let go. But he did.

The teen said his final goodbyes, and received the last good wishes... And his dad took the wheel, while he and Leif got into the backseat. Gregor wasn’t ready, he wasn’t sure he ever would be. But this was as good as it got.

Soon enough they arrived at the train station, the minivan slowing to a stop at the front.

They got out. I can’t believe this is really happening. Gregor grabbed his bag, extending the handle. The wheels struck concrete with a dull clunk. He looked back to his father.

It all felt like a bad dream. A daze, drifting past. They exchanged their last goodbyes and I love yous. Gregor tried to memorize this moment, to trap it in his memory. He would make it back. No matter what.

“And there’s our chaperone,” Leif stated, gesturing. Gregor followed the other’s gaze... An older man in a wheelchair. He seemed pretty unassuming, but somehow, the boy knew there had to be more to him than that. If there was one thing he’d learned already, it was that appearances could be deceiving.

With that, they headed off to meet the ‘chaperone.’

As it turned out, Gregor had a lot of questions, and their new travel buddy-- Chiron-- had all the answers. Or at least, a lot more than Gregor would have expected... It was a bit overwhelming, but he tried to commit it all to memory.

“The Mist, huh?” He idly wondered if the Greek godly mist was related at all to what existed in the Underland. “That explains a lot, actually.” Chiron nodded knowingly.

“Due to its ability to confuse ordinary mortals, monsters-- like the empousa you encountered-- typically go entirely unnoticed. There are some who are clear-sighted, but that is exceptionally rare. Demigods like you, however, can see through the mirages to a certain extent.”

“That monster, that... Empousai? It was only after me, right?”

Chiron gave another nod... “Yes. According to what Leif was able to tell me, she was specifically after you. We’ve already sent someone else to investigate further, and are keeping tabs on the situation as we speak. You will be safe at camp, and we will ensure she cannot harm anyone else.”

“What is camp like?” he asked, still feeling very uncertain...

“While it is a refuge,” the man explained quietly, “It is also a place where demigods learn to use and control their abilities. The children of various gods are split into cabins according to their lineage; until you are claimed, you will be housing with the Hermes cabin.”

“I see...” That seemed like a very strange way to divide up campers, at least to Gregor, but he figured it was better not to argue. “How long does it take to be claimed?”

“It depends,” admitted Chiron with a frown, “Sometimes it happens immediately. Others, it can take weeks, months, even years.”

Or maybe never. Somehow, Gregor couldn’t help suspecting that was a real possibility. Who knew, really? Last he checked, the gods didn’t have a real great track record on ‘fairness,’ at least in the original myths.

Gregor wasn’t sure he liked his odds, and anyway...

Maybe it was better not knowing.

After the train ride, the group caught a cab, which would have been normal enough if it didn’t drop them off at what seemed to be an ordinary strawberry field, right in the middle of nowhere.

Or at least, that’s what Gregor thought it was at first.

“Focus,” Chiron instructed as they headed into the fields... “Look past the illusion.”

Gregor did as he was told, and slowly... The mirage cast by the mist faded. The teen’s eyes widened... A camp shimmered into view on the other side of the fields, and a big farmhouse, not so different from the one back in Virginia. A lake, picnic tables, a campfire... Rows of cabins, which the teen was sure were the lodging he’d heard about. Distant woods, which he had a feeling were not someplace he wanted to explore. A single tree was placed right in the middle of a vast field, with something coiled around it... Is that a dragon? Gregor made a note to stay far away from that.

He took it all in. This was it. The place he could be spending quite a lot of his time in the upcoming months...

“Gregor Reid,” Chiron announced with a smile. “Welcome to Camp Half-Blood.”

Fan Fics

I have been focusing on my fanfictions and I wanted to introduce them to you. They are all long multi-chapter series fics. You can find them all on AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/users/TruthfulNomad

I have three Supernatural fics, one Hobbit fic, and two crossovers. One is a Supernatural/Hobbit crossover and the other is a dystopian themed multi-fandom fic with Supernatural/Hobbit/Star Trek DS9, TNG, and VOY, X-files, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Below is a short summary of the fic along with a short description of each pairing involved in each fic. They are all Castiel/Hannah focused, of course, but there are a lot of other pairings in each one as well. Please read the AO3 tags as all my fics tend to be dark themed and although most are still in the beginning stages, they usually get pretty violent and disturbing.

Supernatural fics

Chosen

This is a complete rewrite of the show starting with season one. It’s AU in some big ways. It starts with Sam and Dean shortly after they left Stanford after Jess’s death. Along the way, they run into Castiel (almost literally since he was laying in the middle of the highway). They also meet up with Charlie who in this fic, is Bobby’s daughter and was raised as Sam and Dean’s little cousin. Castiel explains that a renegade angel has released Lucifer and some demons from hell and started the apocalypse. Meanwhile, Jo Harvelle runs into the renegade angel who happens to be Hannah who had been set up by Raphael and is now on the run from heaven. Jo meets with Eileen Leahy and Meg. Both groups discover that it’s not just heaven and hell, but other realms that are kickstarting their own apocalypses and need champions. The Greek gods, the Norse gods, the Celts, Egyptians, Aztecs, and Hindu gods all have a stake in these characters.

Pairings

Castiel and Hannah: Castiel and Hannah start off as enemies in this one. Hannah is the renegade angel and Castiel was sent to find and kill her. Castiel’s world gets turned around when he realizes that heaven is at the center of a conspiracy scandal and that Hannah was the one who was betrayed.

Dean/Jo: Jo and Dean start out as adversaries. At the time, Jo is dating the hunter Gordon Walker, who turns out to have some ulterior motives. But Jo has sworn to protect Hannah from the angels which puts her in conflict with Castiel and with the Winchesters.

Sam/Eileen: Eileen has allied herself with Jo and Hannah and her knowledge of witchcraft makes Sam uncomfortable. But she is a well-traveled hunter with extensive knowledge of lore and this intrigues Sam. But Sam is still grieving for Jess and is reluctant to be in another relationship.

Crowley/Meg: Meg starts out as a spy. She allies herself with Jo and Hannah and is spying for Lucifer, but she develops a bond for the women she’s supposed to be undermining. Crowley is out for himself and doesn’t want the apocalypse to happen so he helps the Winchesters. Crowley and Meg start out as bitter enemies, both willing to torture and kill the other.

Charlie/Anna/Rowena: Charlie encounters the fallen angel Anna after she and Castiel were left in the motel while the Winchesters went to investigate a crime. Anna doesn’t know she’s an angel and doesn’t know what has drawn her to this town. Later, after meeting up with Jo’s team, Charlie becomes acquainted with Rowena.

Maine Chronicles

This story takes place sometime in season 14. It’s AU, as are all of my fics. In this fic, the empty is releasing angels and demons because it’s becoming unstable. Many old enemies and friends are returning to Earth. The Winchesters relocate to another bunker deep in the woods of Maine, but when they do, they fall victim to something strange that’s happening in the small town. All the women in town are getting pregnant. The Winchesters suspect supernatural involvement, especially when Hannah, Jo, Eileen, and later, Meg all fall victim to this town’s plight.

Pairings

Castiel and Hannah: Castiel and Hannah have been together ever since she returned from the empty. Hannah is the first victim of this town and since angels aren’t supposed to be able to get pregnant, they wonder what magical forces might be at work here. Especially since Hannah begins having visions and seeing spirits. There’s evidence that Hannah has been in this town before in the past, and that her memory has been tampered with.

Dean/Jo: Jo comes back to life mysteriously. But she doesn’t exactly come back normal. She and Dean are together at the beginning of the story but she hasn’t told him everything about how long she’s really been back, or what she really is. She didn’t come back human.

Jo/Charlie: Charlie learns about Jo’s secret and the two are trying to keep it from Dean. The two begin to get closer and form a relationship which they also keep secret from Dean, at least at first.

Sam/Eileen/Gabriel/Rowena: Eileen also returned to life not quite human, but she is only now becoming aware of it. She’s developing some strange symptoms. She and Sam are together, but when Gabriel arrives wanting protection from Loki whom he dumped after the Asmodeus incident, he and Sam start having feelings for one another. This results in a threesome with some supernatural consequences. Later, Rowena arrives and the four of them get together.

Crowley/Meg: Meg arrives first, with Jesse the cambion. Then Crowley arrives, having been deposed as king of hell. He reveals that he knows a little about Meg’s past as a demon and as a human and that it’s connected with this town and with Hannah’s visions. The two start out as adversaries that are reluctantly forced to work together, as Crowley has an interest in Jesse, hoping he can use the cambion to get his position back in hell.

Claire/Kaia: Claire is de-aged in this fic and is a minor. Castiel gets custody of her but the law is watching them closely because he’s being accused of abandoning her. Claire has some behavioral problems and she and Hannah butt heads. Kaia is a teen runaway whose powers have kept her on the run. Charlie takes her in and petitions to adopt her.

Jack/Jesse: Jack is going to high school. Since the law is watching Castiel so closely, he is unable to live in the bunker with the Winchesters. He and Hannah have their own house in an abandoned property. Jack lives with them and is trying to learn how to be a human teenage boy, even though he’s only 2. Jesse arrives with Meg who has been looking after him so the two start going to school together.

Bunker Pack

Castiel is on a mission to save the angels from extinction. This fic takes place in season 13. Apocalypse Charlie arrives with three of her most trusted fellow resistance leaders. Jo Harvelle and Eileen Leahy have suffered at the hands of Michael’s angels. And Hannah, who betrayed Raphael to help the humans, has developed a deep hatred for her own kind. These women are nothing like their real-world counterparts. They have been hardened by the harsh realities of their world. Castiel finds Gabriel and the two devise a plan to put the remaining angels into a safe home situation and to lockdown heaven. The plan involves a lot of ingredients and a lot of sacrifices.

Castiel and Hannah: Hannah is a shell of what her real-world counterpart was. She has suffered and has some very bad PTSD. She and Castiel begin a very strained relationship because she has trouble trusting him, especially because she has had a run-in with his Apocalypse world counterpart. She is reluctant to help the angels in any way. Castiel is trying to help her heal and learn to trust again.

Dean/Jo: Jo and Dean butt heads from the beginning. They have a few one night stands usually followed by massive blow out fights.

Sam/Eileen: Sam is worried about getting involved with Eileen because he is afraid of losing her. Eileen has had some trauma of her own but she seems to be handling it differently than Hannah and Jo.

Charlie/Claire: Charlie meets Claire in the bunker and lets her tag along with them, much to Dean’s chagrin. Dean doesn’t want Claire involved in their plans in any way. But Claire proves herself and she and the leader of the resistance form a special bond.

Jack/Annika (OC): Annika is a Nephilim and Gabriel’s secret daughter. She and Jack meet later when Sam and Castiel take her to the apocalypse world where Jack is trapped.

Hobbit fics

Kings and Masters

Takes place after the battle of the five armies. In the aftermath of the battle, Thorin and his nephews are injured and take refuge in a private home owned by the Laketown master. Fili and Kili are recovering from serious injuries and are both shell shocked from all they had gone through. While with the master, they befriend two of his servants whose past seems mysterious. It becomes clear that the master might be guilty of abusing these two servants of his.

Fili/Brenna (OC): Fili is recovering from a back injury that has left him paralyzed. His morale is low and he is having a hard time coping with the prospect of having a permanent disability. Brenna is a brash young woman. She’s one of the two servants living in the masters home. She is a Gnome from the far north of Middle Earth.

Kili/Asphodel (OC): Kili is dealing with his own trauma and has developed a breathing problem because of his injury. He befriends the hobbit girl who has been their nurse while they recover. But he knows the dwarves would never accept their relationship. And when it is discovered that the girl is actually Bilbo’s niece, it seems their love is destined to end in heartbreak.

Crossovers

Of Wings and Beards

(SPN/Hobbit)

Four paths across middle earth begin to intersect. This takes place between season 7 and 8, after Castiel’s incident with the Leviathans. Instead of going to purgatory, they all end up in Middle Earth. Meanwhile, Fili and Kili are left homeless orphans after orcs destroyed their village. They embark on a journey with Thorin in hopes of finding a new home.

Castiel and Hannah: Castiel arrives in Middle Earth with no memory of who he is. He meets Hannah, who has been trapped in Middle Earth ever since the civil war with Raphael. Hannah was part of Raphael’s army against Castiel, but when she tried to defect from Raphael, he banished her to Middle Earth. They begin their alliance on board a cargo ship where they are abused by the crew.

Crowley/Meg: Crowley and Meg had disappeared during the battle with Dick Roman, Crowley had kidnapped her and intended to return to hell to torture her but due to leviathan interfearance, their ‘route to hell’ was redirected and they became trapped in Middle Earth. They meet up with Castiel and Hannah after boarding the cargo ship they were on. Crowley is still bent on torturing Meg and Meg still plans to stab him in the face but for now, they are forced to work together to get out of Middle Earth and to help Castiel and Hannah. Through their traveling together, they begin to get closer.

Dean/Jo: Dean and Sam were both blasted into Middle Earth after defeating Dick Roman. They arrived in Rohan where they are escorted to Edoras by the Rohirrim. There, they discover Jo Harvelle who was brought back to life by Osiris but dropped off in Middle Earth. She has been working as a bar maiden in Rohan ever since.

Sam/Eileen: Eileen is another bar maiden and she and Jo are very close. Sam has never met Eileen at this point, but she was blasted to Middle Earth after a run in with some fairies.

Kili/Asphodel: Kili meets Asphodel while he and his brother are recovering in the Shire. Asphodel and her mother Azalea join the dwarves on their search for a home, along with Bilbo.

Fili/Brenna: the dwarves and Hobbits meet Brenna and her mother Bringen after they are captured by slave mongers and sold to a cargo vessel (the same one that Castiel and Hannah had escaped from not long before).

Charlie/Dorothy/Gilda: This is an AU in which instead of Dorothy being released from the MOL bunker, she was released by Charlie accidentally, along with the witch. The two of them tried to return to Oz but ended up in Middle Earth instead and Charlie meets Gilda the fairy. Who was exiled there from the fairy realm.

Brave new worlds

(SPN, Hobbit, X-files, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Star Trek TNG, DS9, VOY)

End of season 14. Castiel dies and goes back to the empty where he is woken up by Billie. Billie explains that Chuck has destroyed the fabric of the universe and has let multiple universes interact, causing a devastating reaction. Billie sends Castiel, Jack, and the Winchesters back to Earth, along with a few friends, in order to try to fix things. Meanwhile, on this botched planet, Captain Picard is living with Captain Janeway, Kira Nerys and other remnants of their crews on an Earth that has been devastated by the Dominion and the Borg. In this changed timeline, the Dominion won the war and destroyed the federation leaving Earth a desolate post-apocalypse world. Inhabitants from Middle Earth and other ‘Earths” are finding themselves in this world. This is a collection of one-shots, short ficts, and drabbles centered around this dystopian theme.

Castiel and Hannah: Hannah is happy to see Castiel after he brought her back from the empty but she is sad to see the state of the world after she left it. She reunites with her old vessel, Caroline and joins Castiel and Jack.

Dean/Jo: Dean is angry at Castiel after Cas brought all these angels and demons back from the empty but he is happy to see Jo and Eileen were revived from heaven in the process.

Sam/Eileen: Sam is happy to see Eileen again

Crowley/Meg: Crowley and Meg were both revived from the empty. Meg immediately wants to kill Crowley for their past and is angry to discover that he’s been working with the Winchesters up until his own death. She also finds herself in a rivalry with Hannah over Castiel.

Angel/Buffy: In Buffy’s world, this apocalypse happened shortly after the destruction of Sunnydale. She reunited with Angel and she and Willow set out to rid the world of vampires once and for all.

Charlie/Willow: Willow used her magic to track vampires across the country while the world around them fell apart.

Mulder/Scully: Mulder and Scully’s world ended in season 7 when the syndicate helped launch a few nuclear weapons in order to distract the world from the alien invasion.

Picard/Crusher: The Enterprise was in the frontlines in the defense against Earth. Earth fell to the Dominion and the enterprise was destroyed. Picard, Crusher, Troi, and Riker were in an escape pod and they have been living on this devastated Earth ever since.

Kira/Odo: After the dominion won, they occupied Bajor and Kira and Odo tried to fight back but they left to help Dax and Bashir retake Earth and ended up trapped on the planet along with many others.

Janeway/Chakotay: Voyager arrived back in the alpha quadrant only to find the federation destroyed.

Tom/B’Elanna/Jadzia Dax/Bashir/Riker/Troi: After the small band of humans are forced to live in the cave, relationships begin to form. Riker and Troi are back together, Tom and B’Elanna are together, and Dax and Bashir recently got together after she was separated from Worf who is presumed to be dead along with the rest of the Defiant crew. Then, Dax, Troi, and B’Elanna started seeing each other and it is going to evolve slowly into a six part poly ship.

2. Tell us a little about yourself.

I’ve been a writer and a poet since childhood. Professionally, I’ve worked for a major Internet service provider, been an executive secretary, made collections calls and even sold windows door to door. I just completed an art history Capstone in Roman and Greek art and am contemplating graduate school. I’m also a mom and a wife. I’ve worn a whole lot of hats in my life.

3. What do you never leave home without?

Something to read. I carry my Kindle in my purse. I read a lot of romance, mystery, and historical fiction.

4. Are you an early bird or a night owl?

Depends. If I’m really immersed in something I’m writing, I’ll pound the keys until 2 am or later. Ideally, I’m in bed by eleven.

5. If you could live in any fictional world which one would you choose and why?

Westeros! Ice zombies? Dragons? Bring it on.

6. Who is the most famous person you’ve ever met.

I’m a fangirl with a travel budget, so I’ve met some actors from my various fandoms, including James Marsters from Buffy and William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy from Star Trek. I like attending conventions. I’ve met Charlaine Harris, one of my favorite authors. That was a big thrill, too.

7. What are some of your favorite movies/TV?

TV: X-Files; Buffy the Vampire Slayer; Friends. Movies: While You Were Sleeping; Fifth Elements; Pride and Prejudice (2005).

8. What are some of your favorite bands/musicians?

Music is a really important element of my life. I need music while writing, cooking, driving, you name it. My all time favorite bands include Coldplay, Depeche Mode, Garbage, and Muse. Musicians? Jeff Buckley, Leonard Cohen, Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan.

9. Favorite Books?

Jane Austen; I waffle between Pride and Prejudice and Persuasion. Charlaine Harris’ Southern Vampire Mysteries. Dorothy Dunnett’s Lymond Chronicles. Dorothy Sayer’s Lord Peter Wimsey mysteries.

10. Favorite Food?

Any configuration of a potato. Baked; fried; mashed. I’m a potato fan.

11. Biggest pet peeve?

Passive aggressive people. Just tell me what I’ve done to piss you off and I’ll try to make it right. If you can’t do that, we’re at an impasse.

12. What did you want to be when you were little? What do you want to be now?

I’ve always wanted to be a published author and that’s still my dream.

13. What are your biggest fears? Do you have any strange fears?

Oh, boy. I have a phobia about driving on the highway. It’s very weird. I’ve gone way the hell out of my way to take side roads instead of highways.

14. When you are on your deathbed what would be the one you’d regret not doing?

When I was fifteen, I had the choice to go to boarding school in England. At the last minute, I backed out and went to a school in Pennsylvania instead. I really regret that; my whole life would have been on a different path.

Okay… lets talk about your writing!

15. Which is your favorite of the fics you've written for the Bughead fandom?

I’ve only written a few, but the BLT universe (Bizarre Love Triangle, Long Live Rock) is my baby. That’s my blood, sweat and tears, right there.

16. Which was the hardest to write, in terms of plot?

Fugue. The idea of Jughead as a murderer was so preposterous, I had to figure out a way to make it real and believable.

17. How do you come up with the ideas for you fic(s)? Do you people watch? Listen to music? Get inspired by TV/movies?

I get inspired by music more than anything else. Usually, finding the right song is the key to unlocking a story for me. But it can be other things. I eavesdrop like crazy and I also am very moved by neon signs and photography. I often look at moodboards and listen to a fic specific soundtrack while I’m writing.

18. Idea that you always wanted to write but could never make work?

I’ve been writing a fic with Betty as the POV character. The plot is inspired by the movie Groundhog Day. She keeps repeating the same night over and over. It’s funny on film, but I think it’s too repetitive as a story. I haven’t given up on it yet, but it is really kicking my butt.

19. Least favorite plot point/chapter/moment you’ve written?

Archie and Betty hooking up in Long Live Rock was just such a bummer.

20. Favorite plot point/chapter/moment you’ve written?

Jughead’s backstory about how he got his beanie in Bizarre Love Triangle.

21.Favorite character to write?

Jughead, for sure.

22. Favorite line or lines of dialogue that you've written?

For Long Live Rock, I had to write a lot of song lyrics. I’m particularly fond of some I wrote for Jughead: Fortunes have been made and fortunes have been lost /Princes earning money by moving rocks Princesses waiting tables in a neon glow/What we had we'll find again and never let it go.

23. Best comment/review you’ve ever received?

I really love it when people just get so flipped out that they can’t even articulate their feelings and it’s a lot of capital letters and exclamation marks.

24. How do you handle bad reviews or comments?

Unfortunately, I have a thin skin. I can handle the occasional nasty comment, but when it’s message after message of people hating what you do, it’s demoralizing. My husband has repeatedly suggested not reading the comments on Ao3, but I feel an obligation to respond to each reader unless they are being a complete and utter asshat. The hate mail I received on Tumblr for parts of Long Live Rock was just unbelievable. That stuff, I just delete and try to ignore. That being said, constructive criticism is great. But that’s rare and far between. I get a lot of “this is great” or “I hate this with the fire of a thousand suns” and not much in the middle.

25. If you could change anything in any of your stories, what would it be?

The inevitable typos that I can only notice after I post them. Each one causes me physical pain.

26. What is your favorite story you’ve ever written? Any fandom?

My first real labor of love was a story called The Countess which was based on the BBC TV show of Robin Hood. I had a massive fangirl crush on the bad guy, Sir Guy of Gisborne. I shipped him with Maid Marian and despite the fact that she DIED, I still wanted a happy ending for my OTP. Did I mention that he killed her? Because that was the canon ending of that ship! So, I literally resurrected her, made the hero of the canon story the villain, and gave the full monty love story and a happy ending to Marian and Guy. It made my heart happy. It still does, because that canon just pissed me off to no end. One of the great joys of fan fiction is the ability to tell canon to go screw itself.

27. What are you reading right now? Both fan fiction and general fiction?

I haven’t read much Bughead fic because it lessens my ability to get into the headspace of my own AU. However, I am fortunate to have a plethora of fic recommendations from my dear @jandjsalmon waiting for me. As for fiction, I am currently reading a historical mystery called Instruments of Darkness by Imogen Robertson.

28. Do you have an advice for writers that want to get into this fandom but might be scared?

Don’t be afraid that your work isn’t good enough. Your work is always better than you think it is! You are your own worst critic. Trust that there is an audience for every story. We are a very welcoming community and you are guaranteed to find someone who will appreciate the work of your imagination.
