“You okay?” Buck asked, turning his body and wincing at the pain of resting his head on his hand.

Eddie sighed, hiding his face in his own. “Yeah, I’m just… jumpy.” He sighed again. Buck frowned, reincorporating a little bit. “I keep thinking what could’ve happened to you out there.”

“Eddie, I’m fine,” he mumbled patiently. “I’m not defenseless, I know how to use our weapons.”

From across the room, Eddie scoffed, then cleared his throat. “It’s not about you being damn good with that machete, which I know you are,” he said, watching Buck nod in agreement. “It’s about the fact that you- it’s like you think this Camp could go on without you.”

Silence.

“…That I could go on without you.”

After years of wanting one, but not being able to justify the price tag, I finally treated myself to a PS5. It's been an incredibly rewarding weekend getting to play Spiderman 2 for hours upon hours and not have to worry about work for a while. It's been a stressful year, especially these last few weeks, and I still have a ton of stuff to get done before our winter break, so this was a much needed respite to relax and recharge for the next couple weeks.

Last game of the day doesn't start for 35 more minutes. I overdid the hockey this weekend, I am aware. I shall take a break until my birthday... Possibly lol

💛 for Jesse/Emily?

hell yeah!!

Everything felt slow when the hiss broke into the Executive Sector again. Pillars crashing all around, portraits and plaques falling to the ground, names called over screams and hiss incantations. Jesse had luckily ended up win a ranger patrol when it happened, stuck somewhere near Dead Letters, but all too far away from Central Executive. From her.

Jesse had to push through. She needed to get back. She needed to /fix/ this.

Pushing open the heavy double door, she basically threw herself through rubble and bodies, wispy remnants of Hiss long dead. Their siren song boomed in her ears, a splitting headache tearing her in half with every step, Polaris thrumming and jingling in her mind. Her body moved without her brain, her psyche as unwilling as the very zombie-like creatures around her.

What if something happened to her? What if the hiss got to her?

She was all too relieved when the black pyramid appeared in her sight, surrounded by shifted walls and a disheveled control point. Concrete and marble was scattered across the ground, the disgusting mist of the Hiss littered about. Scanning the rubble for signs of life, her ranger team split off, but she kept moving forward. She couldn’t see her- did she get hurt? Did she get taken over? Would she-

“Jesse?”

Jesse snapped her head to the voice, looking about, before locking eyes with Emily Pope across the room. A sidearm was in her hands, either hers or someone else’s, as if used just previously. Her heart beat heavy in her chest as relief washed over her, picking up speed as she sprinted across the way. “Emily!”

Vaulting over collapsed stone, Jesse embraced Emily, grabbing the sides of her face and kissing her. Emily gripped Jesse’s sides tightly as she was lifted slightly off the ground, the two pressed against eachother strongly. Jesse pulled away for just a moment, before wrapping her arms around Emily and pulling her in. She was okay. She was here. *They* were here. It was going to be okay.
