it's cold outside (natasha romanoff)
for @wokeupinawalnut - for the fic giveaway organised by @startrekkingaroundasgard. i apologise for how late this is, but i hope you enjoy & happy holidays🥰
summary: coming home to you is always natasha's favourite thing
Tumblr media
Natasha Romanoff hadn't expected your shared apartment to be so fucking arctic when she came home.
New York was cold at the best of times but it seemed bitingly so when the Quintjet came in to land early that morning. It was too cold even for snow and that just felt like insult to injury. Still though, it was hard for Natasha to feel sad about the weather, knowing that this mission was going to be the team's last before their Christmas break. The idea of getting home, switching off her phone and existing just in the plains of your apartment had been the only thing getting her through. So, after exchanging goodbyes with the rest of the Avengers, Nat hung up her uniform and got into a taxi.
Naturally, every would reunite on the day of Christmas at Tony Stark's insistence, but until then, they'd be off to their own homes. Steve and Bucky back to Brooklyn, Clint back to the farm, Thor back to New Asgard and Tony back to wherever it was that Morgan demanded. The journey for Nat wasn't very long - just over the bridge to your loft in Williamsburg. She'd lived there for the better part of three years now, when she'd come to stay the night a few weeks into your relationship and just never left.
The cold air hit her like a knife (and it was safe to say that Natasha might be the only person here who would know that feeling with accuracy). Even though it was early in the morning - just gone 7AM - you were passed out on the couch, a duvet bundled around you and several blankets. The TV was still on Netflix, the classic are you still watching? messaged displayed on the screen. With that, Nat could easily deduce that you'd probably fallen asleep watching it last night.
"Hey," she leant down beside you, gently brushing a hand over your face. A nice, warm hand against your freezing skin. "Hey. I'm back."
You peeled open one eye, a grin spreading across your tired face. "Nat, hey."
"Why's it so cold in here?" she asked.
"The heating broke," you grumbled. "I called the landlord last night but he's gone back to Arizona for Christmas. We still have hot water so that's...something."
"That explains it," she rolled her eyes. "You're freezing-"
"- Nat," you sat up, duvet falling off your shoulders. "You can turn off mum mode, okay? I know you've just spent a week straight with the guys but I am not stupid like them."
Natasha gave you a smile, pressing a kiss to your forehead. "You're right. Sorry."
"How was the mission?"
"Boring," she took a seat on the sofa beside you, laying her legs over yours. "We went in, got the intel we needed, came home. Textbook, really."
"But did you look good doing it?"
"Of course I did," she grinned. Natasha gave your leg a squeeze before standing up and sticking out her hand, head nodding towards the bathroom. "C'mon, a warm shower will help."
Begrudgingly rolling out of your blanket palace, you followed your girlfriend through the apartment and to the bathroom. If you hadn't missed her so much, you wouldn't have moved come hell or high water. Still though, a warm shower didn't seem like the worst idea. Natasha certainly wanted one after days of trekking through Siberia and honestly, she just wanted to hold you close. Seven days apart wasn't even the longest she'd gone without seeing you.
You stood there like a lemon with ease as she did most the work - just bubbles and soft kisses from Natasha.
The run from the shower to the bedroom was jarring. Clothes flew everywhere as you both ripped apart the wardrobe in an attempt to find the warmest clothes - you were more successful in your attempt, finding some thermal bottoms and a thick hoodie. Six pairs of fluffy socks later, you were content.
"Those are mine," Natasha scowled. "I was looking for those-"
"- they were in my side of the wardrobe," you replied, holding up your hands in defence. "Finders, losers, Nat."
"That's not fair! Those are my special warm socks!"
"Now they're my special warm socks."
Before you could even finish your sentence, Natasha had crossed the room and thrown you onto the bed. She pinned your arms above your head, hands wrapped around your wrists and hair dripping little cold drops of water onto you. You let out a shriek as she did, trying to wriggle free.
"Say your sorry!" she demanded. There was no point in arguing, or trying to wriggle your way out of the grip of a highly trained assassin. She was freakishly strong.
"No!"
"Say. Your. Sorry!"
You tried to fight back a laugh, gaze avoiding Natasha's. "No."
"You're so mean," she pouted. Still, she leant down and pressed a soft kiss to your lips, smiling against you.
Natasha rolled off the bed, once again signalling for you to follow after her. She made her way over to the kitchen, hands moving in autopilot to turn on the kettle and pull things out the cabinets.
"Shouldn't I be the one making you breakfast?" you asked. "You just came from a week long mission-"
"- shuddup and sit down," she said. "You're colder than me. Wrap up and I'll be there in two minutes."
Smiling to yourself, you returned to the sofa. It was perfectly indented from where you'd spent the last two days sat there, but you moved some cushions aside to make room for Natasha. As promised, two minutes later she returned with two mugs of coffee and a bagel for you. She'd known since the day you met how you took your coffee; she was trained to be observant but in some way, knowing the intricate details of your life was her love language. There were very few things she didn't know.
Natasha pressed a kiss to your temple, pulling the duvet over herself as she snuggled up next to you. She was perpetually warm - a curse in the summer but a blessing during times like this. You shuffled closer, leaning your head on her shoulder.
"You good there?" she asked.
"Yeah," you smiled. "Just glad you're home."

task force 141 + stocking stuffers
Tumblr media
Characters: Simon "Ghost" Riley, John "Soap" MacTavish, Kyle "Gaz" Garrick, John Price, Alejandro Vargas, Rodolfo "Rudy" Parra
Type: Fluff, headcanons
Warnings: none
A/N: gshshhshd posted part 2 to the right thing to do today and now im writing this to help the anxiety
Tumblr media
kyle "gaz" garrick:
ok so i feel like gaz is a little bit of a nerd/geek
so he enjoys getting little figurines/action figures of characters from shows/movies/games he likes
think like funko pops
he likes to set them up along his desk in his room
and sometimes he pretends they're watching him while he works
his favorite candy to get in his stocking is peanut m&ms
he's just a fan of all kinds of peanut chocolate candies and i can't even blame him
peanut m&ms slap
in terms of getting things for other people
gaz always goes with a classic gift card
he will, however, make sure that the gift card matches with their favorite store
john price
price's favorite thing to get in his stocking is puzzle books
crossword puzzles, word searches, sudokus, riddles, etc.
anything and everything puzzle based he loves
he likes bringing them with him on missions when he has a spot of free time
they're relaxing to him and they keep his mind young
he's also insanely good at doing puzzles
but he's also had years and years of practice
he also got to go on npr and play the puzzle with weekend edition puzzle master will shortz a few years back
he also did really well and so now he never shuts up about it
whenever he pulls out his puzzle book it's followed by a comment about his time on npr
in terms of what he likes to get for other people he usually gets them candy
you know those plastic candy canes filled with different kinds of candy?
yeah price will buy like three of them for each team member and then call it a day
but of course he gets each team member their favorite candy
he also lets them get away with more stuff during the holidays
i.e. skipping chores, training, etc.
oh yeah i almost forgot this but price lives getting socks in his stocking
fuzzy socks, normal socks, thermal socks, patterned socks
he's really just a fan of socks in general
simon "ghost" riley:
ghost doesn't really have a favorite thing to get in his stocking
but his favorite thing is always whatever you get him
even if it's something stupid or small
one time you got him a customized pocket knife and he's kept it with him ever since
but usually he enjoys whatever little knick knacks people put in his stocking
and in general the stuff he gets are more practical then sentimental
and oml when it comes to things ghost gets for other people
ghost is actually insane at gift giving it's unreal
everything that everyone else likes? that's exactly what he gets them
part of it is because he's so observant he can always tell what people enjoy
and the other thing is that he's so good at reading people he knows exactly how they feel about the gifts they get
but like ghost is the kind of guy to get you smthing you mentioned back in january
and he always makes sure to get exactly what people want, even if it's super inconvenient for him
it's hard for ghost to be vulnerable and so giving these little stocking stuffers which are traditionally seen as sorta trivial lets him show everyone in the team just how much he loves them without making a big deal out of it
john "soap" mactavish:
ok before we get to soap's favorite stocking stuffers here's his least favorite stocking stuffer
soap
that's it
every year, everyone on the team gets him soap for his stocking stuffers
sometimes it's a bar of soap, sometimes it's three in one, one time someone got him a soap from lush (he actually really enjoyed it)
so every christmas season soap gets way too many soaps than he needs
usually he sends most of them to a local shelter and then keeps one for himself
now onto his favorite stocking stuffer
i feel like soap is actually an avid collector of lighters
but not normal lighters like novelty lighters
so like lighters with cool colored flames or cool shapes
everyone on the team knows about his collection so they're always on the lookout for cool lighters when they're on missions
so as a result he has a ton of lighters from like all over the world
i think the funniest thing is he doesn't even use them
sometimes he'll light a cigarette with them or fiddle with them but for the most part he keeps them in his room
he's very protective of them though and he doesn't let anyone use it without permission
rodolfo "rudy" parra:
rudy's favorite thing to get in his stocking is mini lego sets
and yes he like big lego sets for his actual gifts too
he's liked legos ever since he was a little kid so it only makes sense
he likes getting the mini holiday sets but he also likes getting those minifigure sets where you try and get all of the characters
he also composes a year long list every year of sets that he wants
he really likes the lego technic car sets too
in terms of what he gets other people
he'll usually make something homemade for them
like cookies or smthing
and then he makes key chain minifigures of them and puts them in their stockings
and they're like surprisingly accurate
it's very very cute
most team members keep them on their key rings or in their bags
he makes new ones every year and he'll even custom make faces and clothes to make them accurate
alejandro vargas:
alejandro's favorite thing to get in his stocking are hygiene products
i know that sounds weird but lemme explain
by hygiene products i mean grooming stuff, face masks, etc.
i feel like alejandro is the kind of guy who isn't scared to pamper himself and take care of his skin/body
so whenever christmas comes around he always asks for skin care/hair care stuff
he always tries to get the rest of the team to join him and he can usually get most of them on board
all of them except ghost of course
but soap, rudy, price, gaz, and him will always have a spa day/hair day after christmas
when it comes to getting other people stuff alejandro likes getting them skincare too
this way when they have their spa day everyone has facemasks and hair products, etc to use
nobody knows how but alejandro is actually really good at knowing what kind of skin everyone has
and he always gets them products aligned with their skin
but along with skincare he also gets everyone cash for the stockings
usually around $25-$35 for each person

Scarf (Javi Gutierrez x gn!Reader)
A Merry Fic-Mas - December 4
Tumblr media
Part of A Merry Fic-Mas: A Holiday Fic Calendar - click for masterlist. FYI: I'm having so much trouble with taglists at the moment that I'm not going to use them for now - if you want to keep updated, follow @ladameecrit and turn on notifications.
Pairing: Javi Gutierrez x gn!reader
Rating: Teen
Word count: 658
Warnings: Reader can knit (try it, it’s fun!); reader gives Javi a Christmas gift but consider this a secular Christmas; no use of Y/N, no use of gendered pronouns, no physical descriptions of reader; mild angst.
Summary: Once upon a time, your first Christmas gift to Javi was a perfectly imperfect handmade scarf.
Tumblr media
He always ended up gazing at your hands while you knitted.
It was hypnotic, almost: the repetitive little gestures with your clever fingers, the yarn over, yarn under, turn the work; the way you would furrow your brow just so and purse your lips as you counted the stitches.
The way he always had to suppress a giggle when you swore at whatever you were making, sighing in exasperation.
Javi could never quite grasp how you managed it without looking. He asked about that, once, when you were cosied up beside him on his long couch, blanket over your knees, knitting away while your eyes were trained on Paddington 2 playing on the TV.
“It’s muscle memory by now,” you’d explained. “I learn the pattern, I memorise what I need to, and then I can tell by touch what the next stitch is and should be. It’s just a matter of practice - anyone could do it.”
Javi shook his head, still transfixed by your hands working busily away. “It’s not practice, mi amor. It’s your magic.”
Tumblr media
For your first Christmas gift to him, you’d made him a scarf. Soft merino yarn, a relatively simple pattern, in a beautiful shade of cornflower blue that you knew would look perfect against his beautiful olive skin and dark hair.
You knew there were a few mistakes in it - a repeated purl stitch when it should have been a knit, a dropped stitch here and there that you’d had to patch in a little clumsily. But every stitch was invested with care and meaning, a manifestation of your desire to keep him warm, safe, and know that he was loved.
You had even found a little woven label that you hand-stitched onto the back of the scarf, stating simply: Made With Love.
When he opened the gift box, Javi’s eyes twinkled as he took out the scarf and ran his fingers carefully over the knitted fabric, taking in every detail.
“It’s not perfect, Javi, and it’s a far cry from your cashmere scarves, but it will keep you warm when it’s cold, and I thought the colour would -”
He stopped you by cradling your face in his hands and kissing you over and over as he murmured his thanks. He picked up the scarf and draped it around his elegant throat, closing his eyes happily as he felt its warmth and softness on his skin.
“It is the most beautiful thing in the world. Apart from you, that is.”
Tumblr media
Javi is greeted with the spectre of freezing, early morning London fog when he pulls back the curtains in his hotel room. He shivers reflexively, and goes to the wardrobe to find his warmest clothes for that day’s round of meetings. A grey turtleneck, a thermal undershirt, a charcoal suit, and his perfectly-cut houndstooth woollen overcoat. Perfect.
The sight of the scarf nestled alongside his socks in one of the hotel room drawers stops him in his tracks for a moment. He reaches down and runs his hand over its careful stitching, like he did the day you gave it to him.
So long ago, now, and so hard to understand what had transpired in the time since.
Some winters he cannot look at it, let alone wear it. But there is something inviting in its sturdy warmth today, something that whispers to him of comfort and joy.
Javi turns to the full length mirror and takes in his reflection.
He is well put-together, but incomplete.
He drapes the scarf around his neck, fingering the little tag as he appraises himself again.
Made With Love.
For a moment, he feels whole again.

Note
esteemed trungles, i come with an important question. What is the best romcom to watch in winter?
Tumblr media
ESTEEMED omg incredible. I don't think I've ever been esteemed before, so I'll do my best to live up to it.
SO I'm a little late on this question for Holiday rom-coms, but it's still winter here right now, and I love rom-coms. In no particular order:
The Holiday (2006) - Kate Winslet! Jack Black! Cameron Diaz! Jude Law! John Krasinski for some reason (he shows up for like three minutes)! Kathryn Hahn (also in the same scene as John Krasinski)! Also there's a little, itty-bitty A Knight's Tale reunion because Rufus Sewell shows up and so does Shannyn Sossamon, which I find to be very sweet. Jack Black is cute as Christmas and hot as breakfast in this movie, and he somehow did this straightforwardly sweet rom-com AND Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny in the same year. The man has RANGE. You get two romances in this movie, and I think the Kate Winslet one is much more of a high-budget Silver Screen romance while the Cameron Diaz one is much more a Hallmark Channel romance, which I think is great because I love both kinds of romances.
Tumblr media
When Harry Met Sally (1989) - This movie is iconic, and I love it to bits. I always have it saved to my phone so I can watch it on literally every plane ride just in case I get stressed out. Meg Ryan is incredible in it as a neurotic and incredibly self-assured woman who develops a friendship with Billy Crystal's character over the course of about a dozen years. Bruno Kirby and Carrie Fisher play some hilarious supporting characters. This movie is also lovely in that the most dramatic character arc belongs to the male love interest. Like, yes, Meg Ryan's character also grows, but there's no change to her world view or her wants and desires because she's not hurting anyone with the way she navigates those things, and Billy Crystal's character grows into someone you could imagine having lunch with, a far cry from when we first meet him. It's also very well-written. I downloaded the script just so I could pick it apart and learn from it.
Tumblr media
Single All the Way (2021) - KATHY NAJIMY AND JENNIFER COOLIDGE ARE BOTH IN THIS MOVIE. I don't know what I was expecting, but this holiday rom-com charmed the thermal socks off me. Michael Urie and Philemon Chambers play best friends who fake a relationship so Michael's family will stop badgering him about there being no romance in his life. It's a fake dating movie, and it is also a delightful subversion of the Hallmark romance. Michael Urie escapes his big city life back to his small hometown where he meets an extremely hunky local spinning instructor (lol) played by Luke McFarlane, who is a literal mainstay of many actual, literal Hallmark romance movies. It's great. I enjoyed it immensely.
Tumblr media
Moonstruck (1987) - Cher and Nicolas Cage star in this movie, and it's sort of difficult to describe. It's very funny, and it's heightened by how every single actor plays their character with the seriousness of a prestige drama. Olympia Dukakis and John Mahoney are also in this, and they're both delightful. I still occasionally yell, "I lost my hand! I lost my bride!!!" out loud at random intervals in the year. Keeps my loved ones on their toes.
Tumblr media
While You Were Sleeping (1995) - This movie is a charmer and a half! Sandra Bullock stars as a lonely woman who works at the L in Chicago who falls in love with one of the passengers. One day, he falls victim to an attempted mugging and falls onto the tracks. Our heroine saves his life, but he winds up in a coma. A series of misunderstandings leads his entire family to believe that she's his fiancée, and polite shenanigans ensue (except in the case of one testicle-inspection, which might be regarded as pretty impolite, but it's very sweet in context). I also find Bill Pullman extremely blandsome and regular-looking to the point of being sincerely erotic. I don't know how this happened.
Tumblr media
And I think that covers my wintry rom-coms! I watch all of them year-round, but these ones all vaguely take place in the winter-time and sometimes have a little bit to do with the holidays season.

Tumblr media
“Fuckin’ Robitussin…”
Choso let out another phlegm-filled cough that made his chest feel like it was about to cave in.
The disgusting red liquid that he’d just taken another dose of didn't seem to be aiding his condition in the slightest.
His pale fingers curled around the bottle before he hurled it into the wastebasket near the door.
He wasn’t exactly certain of how he’d gotten sick, but during this time of year, it was almost unavoidable.
When you work in a crowded electronics store during the holidays, especially one where you have to touch shit all day in order to demonstrate to the customer how it works, you're bound to pick up some type of germs.
Choso had trudged over to sit down on his bed when the doorbell rang.
“It’s open!!”
After turning the knob, you pushed the door open with your shoulder and carried in some plastic grocery bags.
“Cho!!”
“In the room!” The obnoxious sound of him blowing his nose followed.
You set the bags on the counter and began digging through one to bring out a glass Pyrex full of homemade chicken noodle soup.
“Babe! What are you doing - you came here straight from class?!” Choso examined you thoroughly with his sleepy eyes, looking like a pitiful, red-eyed panda bear.
You had on a white, long-sleeved thermal top with a navy blue puffer vest sporting your school logo on it, matching sweatpants, thick socks, and your Crocs.
“Not straight from class. I went home to change and cook you some soup, then I came here.”
He gripped your hips, not so subtly squeezing his fingers into the flesh of your ass.
He then quickly turned his head and brought his elbow up to sneeze into it.
“Aww, poor baby. You look miserable.”
You leaned away from him to set the container of soup on the nightstand.
“Have you taken anything?”
With a small nod of his head, chocolate eyes shifted guiltily to the bin where the cursed concoction now laid.
“I did. I don’t know why, but this shit got me feeling lazy right now..”
“How much did you take?”
“Almost the whole bottle.”
“Choso!”
“Please don't yell, baby. My head is pounding.” He squinted his eyes shut.
“Sorry, but Robitussin is only supposed to be taken every six to eight hours, pookie bear. You’re going to hurt yourself.”
A small, weary smile found its way across his dry lips.
“Mmm, Nurse Y/N. Sexy.”
A loud slap echoed throughout the room as Choso’s heavy palm connected with your butt.
With a giggle, you removed his hand, but he grabbed you around the waist and fell backwards onto the bed with you straddling his waist.
“Don't tell me you're horny right now, Cho.” Your hips rolled over his lap and you got your answer.
He let his head fall back onto the pillow, eyes closed, dark brown locks splayed across smooth, black silk. A small smirk crossed your cocoa-butter flavored lips as you did it again, pressing harder against his erection with your pelvis.
“Baby, you can… ride it  -  o-oo~yeaaah..”
He started to open his eyes to look up and watch how fucking sexy you looked sitting on top of him.
“Keep them closed.”
No objection left Choso’s mouth as you lifted your hips to slide off your pants and panties.
When he felt your lips hovering over his mouth, he grazed your chin with two fingers, slightly gripping it and turning your face so that you pecked his cheek instead.
“I don’t want to make you sick.”
“Choso, who cares if I get sick?”
“I know you care, Y/N..”
—-
“I don’t know what you did…did to me...but my headache is gone now.”
You laid in bed next to him with your eyes closed and head on his chest. Thank God it’s Friday and you don’t have class tomorrow.
“That, my friend, is called the healing power of the pussy.” You said without even opening your eyes.
“Yeah. My pussy, right, baby?”
No answer.
“Huh? Is it?”
Choso smacked your bare ass cheek, making you jump away from him.
“Oh my God, yes Choso! Now let me sleep; we just went three rounds.”
He smiled this time before nuzzling his face into your hair.
“Might just make you tattoo my name on it then.”

Gaza.
as the holiday season gets into full swing, let us not forget those who are still being killed and suffering in gaza. Motaz recently posted on his instagram that "more houses are getting bombed & people are getting killed minute by minute"
"more than 7000 person are missed and yesterday alone more than 1000 palestinan got killed the same day".
be sure to continue to boycott brands such as Mcdonalds, Disney & Starbucks & many others if you can! remember that although we get to be at home with our families this christmas, a lot of innocent people won't get the chance.
UK weather.
the UK weather right now as plumetted as winter draws close. a lot of cities already have had snow, but we are all feeling the cold chill this year around. if you are unable to put the heating on (due to the cost of living crisis),
please ensure you have plenty of hot water bottles to keep yourselves warm. heated blankets, thick blankets and pillows and thermal socks will help too! make sure to wrap up warm & be cautious of ice if you venture out!

Can I ask for ice skating + Liam and Mason or Liam/Mason ?
"Come on," Liam says, tugging on Mason's hand. "We're going."
"Going where?" Mason barely looks up from his spot on the bed. Until Liam tears his covers off. The shock of cold earns Liam a well-deserved glare.
He's working towards pulling the covers back on when a pile of clothes land on his face and chest. Thermal underwear, jeans, sweater, puffy coat, hat, socks.
Mason reluctantly sits up. He holds up the sweater Liam threw at him with a grimace. "I haven't worn this since we were kids..."
It's red with little green fuzzy balls along the sleeves and a picture of Santa Claus covering the front. Liam is wearing his matching version. Mason groans but he gathers up the clothes and starts to change.
Liam throws red gloves, a brown hat and the soft scarf his sister had knitted for him from blue, green and orange yarn a few years ago. The thing is hideous and super warm.
"Where we are going?" Mason mumbles as he finishes getting dressed.
Liam grins, again and he thrusts a pair of ice skates at Mason.
"They've set up a whole hoiday carnival at the ice rink."
And Mason can't deny Liam.... anything really. He slings the skates over his shoulder and grabs his hand.
-
The rink is covered in red and green and blue and silver and gold decorations. There are vendors selling everything from hot chocolate to handmade Christmas ornaments to scarves and gloves, there's a table selling dreidels and another selling toasted nuts.
Holiday music blares through the speakers and the rink is littered with people, even this early in the morning. Mason does love Liam, but he is never forgiving his best friend for being a morning person. It's barely eight am.
They strap on their skates and slide onto the ice. They take a few laps with Liam chattering excitedly about things he wants to get Hayden for Christmas.
And then Brett Talbot and his sister skate by from the other direction.
Mason's heart beats rapidly and Liam smirks.
"Did you know they'd be here?" He thinks of the ridiculous sweater he's wearing under his puffy coat.
Liam grins wickedly. "Mason and Brett sitting in a tree..."
Lori turns her head and smirks. Mason can see the tips of Brett's ears turning pink.
He elbows Liam. "Dude. He can *hear* you."
Liam snorts. "Your crush is a mile wide, dude. Maybe you should act on it?"
Mason grabs Liam's hand and pulls him further around the rink and off of it. He feels Brett and Lori watching them. "I hate you so hard."
Liam turns back to the rink. "Hey Brett! Lori! Wanna get some hot chocolate? Mason's treat."

Overpacking report
After the Great Overpacking Incident of 2015, I started trying harder to travel light, with mixed success. Part of that effort is that I post an overpacking report after each trip.
Here's what I brought but didn't use:
silk thermal leggings
2 silk thermal tops
2 bras
a pair of cotton socks
a pair of wool socks
a turtleneck
a tunic
the wool cardigan I wear on hikes
3 games (well, 2 plus an expansion pack for one of them)
2 novels
a resistance band for my ankle PT exercises
holiday cards I wanted to write
On the other hand, I also underpacked. I should have brought, but didn't:
a raincoat, poncho, or umbrella
slippers
a bathrobe
It's easy to overpack for a car-vacation, so I think this was pretty good. The games didn't get used because everyone else also brought games, so there were just too many to play them all, especially since I actually wanted to be outside in the daytime. And the extra outfit for hiking in didn't get worn because we didn't do any real hikes.

InFAMOUS Headcanon: Winter Woes
Hey guys! For those of us who's winters are cold, dry and chock full of static, you know the struggles. Hair frizzing more readily, socks and sweaters clinging to each-other for dear life after a tumble in the dryer, carpets, fuzzy clothes and doorknobs seeming to conspire against you and things are sticking to you more than you'd like... And this is just the stuff in the home going on. Outside, it's cold, sometimes it's icy and slushy, sometimes the winds are vicious and bitter and while the fluff white snow is a mostly welcome sight during the holiday season, after that, it's a slushy grey sloppy mess that has overstayed it's welcome.
But all this has got me thinking... What would Cole MacGrath feel about the grief that winter likes to cause?
So in honor of being shocked a little too much from metal doorknobs, here's my thoughts on the Electric Man and how he would deal with the static nightmare that is winter.
Tumblr media
As stated before in a previous post I made, if Empire City's climate is anything like the city it was modeled after, than Cole MacGrath is no stranger to crap weather, including snow.
Though while Cole has a love/hate relationship with rain and thunderstorms, he strongly dislikes snow. The only thing it's good for is getting him days off if it's really bad and even then he has mixed emotions on it because, most likely, if he doesn't work that day, he doesn't get paid. Which isn't a good thing.
When he's getting ready to make his rounds, his brows would furrow and his lips would curl into a sneer if the forecast shows that the weather was gonna be shit. Rainy days he could tolerate, yeah they're wet and miserable and the roads are a bit on the slick side, but it's bearable.
Winter weather was a whole 'nother animal.
Even bundled up as much as he could, thermals and all, the wind as he rides and the cold fury of Mother Nature tears through the protective layers of clothing. Chilling him to the bone. Even the warmth produced by his movements is negated by the sweat that comes from exercise. It's even more hellish when he's stuck standing still for any reason, but the reason for his irritation is the roads.
Wet roads you can see, icy roads you often can't.
Black ice everywhere, making every road and bridge a potential death-trap for cars, literally metal cages on wheels. Can you imagine how dangerous those same conditions would be for a lone man riding a bicycle? It also doesn't help that, for some damn reason, people drive like idiots in snowy conditions. Making the roads all the more dangerous for Cole as he goes about his job.
Even on his proper days off, the snow and cold are nuisances. Parkour is dangerous enough, even with as seasoned of a practitioner as he is, icy rooftops and slick poles make things even too risky for him.
I guess he could go out with Zeke and Trish for sledding shenanigans, but knowing both Cole and Zeke and their tendency towards mischief, there's probably a lot of making ramps out of snow and a lot of yelling from Trish about the two guys (mainly her daredevil of a boyfriend) launching themselves airborne with the ramps.
On the whole though, all MacGrath wants to do is stay indoors as much as possible, be it in a bar with Zeke, curled up in his bed, escaping the cold with a nice warm shower/bath or all snuggled up on a couch under a cozy blanket with Trish watching "Home Alone."
His relationship with the cold worsens after the blast.
Now we don't really get to see much of what goes down in the year between InFAMOUS 1 and InFAMOUS 2 aside from what we see in the InFAMOUS comics, but I can imagine that the winter for that year was an absolute nightmare for the Demon of Empire City.
Everywhere he went, the air felt charged and buzzing. Sparks seemed to jump off him at random. Even after getting his powers under control, the dry air seemed to be the perfect storm for people to be zapped by accident. Touching him was like getting zapped by a doorknob, he was even more likely to accidentally fry electronics. Clothes and small light objects like plastic bags, thin pieces of paper and the like clung to him incessantly. It seemed like no matter how many times he'd discharge his body to get things to stop sticking to him and to make it so that he's not zapping every doorknob, shocking damn near every rando on the street and short-circuiting every piece of tech he wants to use, it's almost like the cold, dry, static-y air would just charge him back up again and he's back to fighting rogue sweaters and marauding foil decorations.
It also doesn't help that his main mode of getting around involves him zooming around on wires or the third rail of the train, friction from the wind and the electricity from the wires charging him up even more.
The parkour issue may have been resolved thanks to him not getting hurt from falling, but I'd think that landing wrong would still suck. His attacks probably have more punch too thanks to the added charge, but other than that, there were more negatives than positives in regards to being a living battery in the winter time.
Even indoors, Cole's powers cause issues for him. The constant charge of power makes him antsy, so being cooped up inside is irritating, when he and Zeke are on somewhat better terms, grabbing a beer has it's issues of being surrounded by bodies and those bodies are most likely gonna get a zap, electronics are still wigging out... Sleep has become an elusive thing, so he can't really enjoy being in his bed. With Trish gone, being under the covers on the couch feels just as cold as the winter air, he can't even find solace in the warm waters of a shower or a bath as the water would kill him and sponge bathing just doesn't cut it.
Cole MacGrath may have never been a fan of the winter weather, but after the blast, his feelings towards the ice and snow has turned from a strong dislike to straight up loathing.
He couldn't wait for warm weather to come and winter to be over.

The Ultimate Guide to Womens Winter Sleepwear
As winter casts its chilly spell, cozy and comfortable sleepwear becomes a must-have for every woman seeking warmth and style during the colder months. The Ultimate Guide to Women's Winter Sleepwear encompasses a variety of options that balance fashion with functionality, ensuring a restful night's sleep without compromising on style.
When it comes to winter sleepwear For Women, the first consideration is the fabric. Opting for materials like flannel, fleece, or thermal knits provides insulation against the cold, enveloping the body in a cocoon of warmth. These fabrics not only retain heat but also offer a soft and plush feel against the skin, making them ideal choices for the colder nights.
One of the classic choices for winter sleepwear is the traditional thermal pajama set. Comprising long-sleeved tops and matching pants, these sets are designed to trap body heat and keep you comfortably warm throughout the night. They come in a plethora of colors and patterns, allowing women to express their personal style while staying snug.
For those who prefer a touch of luxury, velour or satin pajamas add an extra layer of elegance to winter sleepwear. Silky and smooth against the skin, these materials bring a sense of opulence to bedtime, providing both comfort and a hint of glamour. Whether adorned with lace or in rich jewel tones, these pajamas are perfect for those seeking a more refined sleepwear option.
Another winter sleepwear trend gaining popularity is the onesie or jumpsuit. Tumblr media
Jack takes off his boots on the porch, shaking off the snow, and quietly lets himself into the ranch house. He can hear you humming and clattering pans and bottles in the kitchen, presumably rustling up another of the little treats you love to make when you’re down here, just the two of you.
He tiptoes in his warm, thermal boot socks across the floorboards and peeks around the kitchen door. You’re absorbed in whatever it is you’re making, bobbing your head to music and wiggling your hips. The ties of your apron only serve to accentuate the curve of your waist, your hips, that generous ass that drives him insane, and Jack has to take a moment before he loses the run of himself.
You don’t hear a thing as he approaches, a wicked grin spreading across his handsome face. He gets up nice and close - and then he strikes, wrapping his arms around you and smooshing the frozen, pink skin of his cheek against your warm face.
“JACK! Fucking hell, babe!”
He chuckles as you squeal at the cold and playfully slap his arms away, spinning you round and holding you all the closer.
“Sure is a pity when a woman doesn’t want to help warm up her man.” He does that half-smile you love so much. It’s all you can do not to haul him to bed and really warm him up.
“You’re damned lucky you’re cute, Mr Daniels.” You reach for a cheap but cheerful bottle of red wine and uncork it before pouring it into a large pan.
“And your problem is you’re just too cute, Mrs Daniels,” Jack replies, taking off his navy-blue padded coat and scarf to reveal the green plaid flannel and simple grey sweater beneath.
He wanders over to watch what you’re doing. “Hold up, darlin’. Did you just pour a whole bottle into that pan?”
You nod and giggle at his confused expression. “Sure did.”
He spots the spices and oranges lined up and ready to join the steaming purple-red liquid in due course.
“Aw, no. This isn’t that hot wine thing, surely.”
“Hot wine? It’s mulled wine, Jack. Or Glühwein, in German. It’s delicious!”
Your husband looks sceptical. He’s a man who doesn’t much believe in adding extra flavours to alcoholic beverages. If it doesn’t stand up on its own, it’s probably not worth drinking.
But he’s curious, watching you add cinnamon sticks and star anise and cardamom pods and cloves and orange slices to the wine as it starts to bubble away on the stove. And damned if it doesn’t smell divine.
You catch his nose twitching as the aroma develops. “What’s it smell like, baby?”
Jack closes his eyes and thinks. “Christmas.”
***
He’s left you to finish fixing the wine and has set a roaring fire in the stone hearth, lighting a couple of candles here and there, just the way you like it.
“Okay, love. I’ve got the mulled wine and some cookies, too.”
He takes a glass mug of the steaming beverage, wrapping an arm around you as you settle beside him on the sofa. You offer him a cookie - small, domed, coated in a thin white icing.
“Never seen these before, darlin’.” He picks up a cookie and looks at it, sniffing it cautiously.
“Lebkuchen.”
“Leb-what now?”
“Lebkuchen. Like a soft gingerbread cookie. They used to sell these with the glühwein at the German Christmas market back in the city, when I was a kid.”
Jack takes a bite and savours the honey-sweet spices as they send his tastebuds tingling. “Goddamn. That’s delicious, sugar.”
“Try the wine.”
He still looks sceptical, but the look in your big eyes would convince anyone. So he raises the mug to his perfect mouth and takes a sip.
“Well.” He turns to you. “Well, I’ll be. That’s perfect. Feel like it’s warmin’ me up all the way down to my toes.”
You beam and drink from your own mug, wriggling your toes contentedly. The light from the candles and the fire highlights the beautiful contours and hollows of Jack’s face, picking out golden accents in his coffee-brown eyes.
“You’re the most beautiful man I’ve ever seen, you know that?”
He pulls a bashful expression and flutters his eyelashes. “Gee, shucks.”
“I mean it! And you married me. Me!”
Jack’s eyebrows furrow, confused. “Because you’re the most beautiful and best woman I’ve ever met, darlin’.”
He takes another bite of the cookie. “And you make delicious lobcookins.”
You chuckle awkwardly and bury your face in his chest. “Uh…I may have bought some when I was in the city, before we came down here. So… not homemade.”
Jack feigns horror. “Not homemade?! Well, that’s just not good enough, sugar.”
He takes your mug and puts both of them down on the little side table, before leaning over and caging you with his arms.
“Now what am I supposed to do with you, huh?”
You giggle. “What would you like to do with me, baby?”
Jack’s eyes fall to your body, one hand sliding up and under the fabric of your plaid shirt and long-sleeved undervest. “Oh, I can think of a few things.”
“Tell me.”
He leans in and starts to nibble at your neck as his big hand finds the soft flesh of your breasts, caressing and groping as he hums happily against your throat. “I would like to play with your tits while I kiss your neck and slip a couple of fingers into your panties, darlin’.”
Right on cue, he brings his hand down to unbutton your jeans, and your hips buck upwards against him.
“I’d like to get you off a couple of times with my fingers, feel you all warmed up and ready for me.”
He slips his fingers into your jeans, pulling aside the soft cotton of your panties and finding your pussy as you whine with pleasure.
“Then what? Then what, Jack?”
He slips his fingers away and sits back up, gazing down at you, already halfway to wrecked and still (mostly) clothed.
“Why don’t I get some blankets on that nice hearth rug and I’ll show you, sugar?”

Shitty things that have happened this fall in no particular order:
-Left my grandmother and great-grandmother's recipes/cookbook behind when we moved because they were in a high cabinet I forgot to pack.
-Family dog died a week after we moved
-Immediate family member had a grippy sock vacation
-Mom ran the car off the road on her way to work in the snow (her and the car physically fine though)
-Great-aunt who was basically my mom's second mom caught covid and then had a major, massive heart attack and is expected to die within the week
-Mom missed almost a week of work (long story but the situation is resolved and shouldn't happen again) so we're super tight on money and have like $100 for groceries through the 22nd of December and so the holidays are basically not gonna happen
-Because of the finance issues good winter clothes are off the table until at least January, maybe February, and its fucking cold as shit already (it was a feels like of 7°F yesterday and none of us have thermals)
-Both my sister and I have slipped and fallen going down the stairs
I've had so many anxiety attacks this month. Also cried more than I have in a long time. I would like to submit a request that winter not be a continuation of the theme here.

A Brief Guide to Ski Holiday Clothing Essentials
Temperatures have dropped, it’s snowing across the Alps, which means that skiing season is finally here. As you prepare for your upcoming escape to your favourite winter wonderland, you are probably thinking of everything you will need to keep your entire family warm and toasty.
Ski-kits are constantly evolving, leaving you feeling confused about what is a necessity and what can be skipped. In this brief blog post, to put an end to confusion and assist you with getting organized, we have listed every clothing essential needed for an unforgettable and comfortable ski holiday. From a one piece ski suit to essential bits and bobs, we have included them all.
Tumblr media
Outerwear
Both kids and adults need exceptionally warm and entirely waterproof ski jackets. They are well insulated, available in various styles and colours, and generally boast air vents. By unzipping these handy air vents, you can enjoy better breathability when temperatures are slightly warmer. Also, carry jackets with powder skirts, as they will keep you warm and dry while skiing.
Next, to keep your lower half dry and toasty, you need salopettes or well insulated, waterproof ski pants. If you do not prefer salopettes due to their shoulder straps, go for an all in one ski suit, which will replace individual ski pants and jackets and keep you much warmer.
Layering
Thermal base layers keep you much warmer when combined with outwear, hence a few mid layers such as warm jumpers or fleece are essential for layering on colder days. You can choose between natural or synthetic fibres depending on what you prefer in terms of cost and comfort.
Synthetic thermals are economical and made of polyester, whereas natural fibre thermals are pricier and made using merino wool, which has antibacterial properties and can keep you warm even -20 °
 temperatures.
Essential bits and bobs
Ski socks
Mittens or gloves with elastic straps
Ski goggles and sunglasses
Sun cream and lip balm
Conclusion
It is imperative that you pack all these essentials, as not only your comfort but also your safety depends on them. Shop the highest quality items to ensure that you will not be exposed to the elements.
You may want to consider shopping at Huski Wear, a one-stop online shopping destination for all your ski clothing needs. They carry top notch ski jackets, suits, and more for both men and women, so whether you are shopping for him or her, they have got you covered.
