The absolute balls of that priest for calling Namor "niño sin amor" because he dared to like avenge all the indigenous people they were killing and torturing when he had just come back to land to bury his mother, that he loved so much, to let her rest in the land that she loved so much, that was stolen from her and her people

sometimes, I'll be reading an atsv fic and come across one word or way of phrasing or encounter, and all of a sudden just know the author is black. on the flipside, sometimes writers will write in a certain way that makes it obvious they're decidedly not 💀

Why is nobody talking about what's happening with the met police right now. Chris Kaba, an unarmed Black man, was murdered by an armed officer last year. He was spotted in a car that had connections to a firearms incident, and was shot through the windshield after police had followed him, without ever activating lights or sirens. Kaba was not a suspect in the case, and no firearms were found inside the car. There is no evidence he gave the officer any reason to fire in self defense.
The unnamed officer who shot him is now facing murder charges. 10% of firearms police are now refusing to carry guns in protest- not because they want to prevent future deaths, but because they are afraid of being arrested for 'doing their job'. They are protesting their "rights" to murder without consequence.
The met police are a racist organisation.
Black Londoners, and all Black British people, I wish you and your families safety.
May Chris Kaba rest in peace.

Now that I am mostly over the Absolutely Feral stage of my Radiant Emperor Obsession and can think again, I want to do a proper write up on how the series handles colonialism. I need to get my sources together and make it all pretty and stuff, but the gist of it is this.
I actually really respect SPC for not making it A Thing. Like, the colonialism is an inherent part of the serting, and a lot of important moments hinge around it, but there's also a pretty clear refusal by the author to turn it into A Statement. I think they do a really good job of walking the fine line between aknowledging it and making it clear that its an important part of the setting, without turning the book into a political thesis on Why Bad Actually.
I think a lot of fantasy authors that frankly have no business making their books into political science treatises try to be super philosophical about it, and inevitably have almost all their points ring flat bc the main character almost always ends up perpetuating the system they spent the whole book critiquing. The classic example being, of course, "We've destroyed The Evil Empire! We will now replace it with The Good Empire, which is functionally identical to The Evil Empire except Good bc our Main Character is in charge! This will totally change the systemic issues we've spent the last three million words exploring! How? Don't worry about it, absolute power only corrupts you if you're A Bad Person!" (atla. atla i am looking at you. my love for you does not mean I am letting you off the hook.)
The Radiant Emperor books interact with and aknowledge the colonialism. The empire canonically falls at least in part because of one guy's willfull ignorance of the differences between his culture and that of two of the people he loves the most, because his culture supercedes theirs to the point where he does not even consider the posibility of this difference truly existing as a real-life power imbalance. And still, these books are not about that! That is not the main theme! It is important. It is handled pretty well, it is aknowledged, and it is not The Point. I really appreciate that more understated approach that SPC takes, because ironically by refusing to partake in dramatic philosophical grandstanding the media often ends up making way better and more nuanced points, because then their point actually fits into the story they are trying to tell.

He hesitated as the child below him smiled and reached up. His claws rested right above its head and yet it looked delighted to see him. Did it not realize the danger it was in? It grabbed his fur and giggled.
"Puppy!"
...if he was asked, he was simply raising it up to help him infiltrate human settlements better.

"how can you be an animorphs fan and support Israel?"
I don't know, how CAN I be the fan of a book series talking about kids being forced to grow up too fast due to being a part of a war that has been going on for longer than they're alive, trying to defend their home against an invading force?
Seeing how this situation affects their mental state, world view and relationships with each other? Not being able to fully trust anyone else because they can turn out to secretly wish for your demise?
How can I be the fan of a series that mirrors the way I grew up, of feeling scared and lost and small but knowing that you have to keep going because there's no other way?
Knowing that the other side has people who are like you, who never really wanted to hurt anyone but are being forced to fight too, who were brainwashed from birth to not see people like you as people?
Knowing that innocents die in war, that cruel, messed up, unjust things happen in wars but not seeing another way forward?
Wanting to save your loved ones who are now being kept hostages?
YEAH I HAVE NO IDEA WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD I, AN ISRAELI PERSON, BE AN ANIMORPHS FAN?

i really don't understand how anyone who loves jude can hate taryn. i mean they're cut from the same cloth. they are both consumed by desire, by want, by longing, and both do cruel things to get to where they want because they feel like they're less, they both feel like they constantly have to prove their worth to everyone around them. they're also both haunted by the murder of their parents and their actions are shaped by that huge event, it's only that jude focuses on aspect of it that is the fact of the brutal murder and taryn focuses on the love that caused it all to happen.

Whomst is the most overrated ship in skyrim? Not necessarily the worst but when you see it it's like "hmph old news get this away from me" or also tell me the worst poosible one in your opinion too! Interested in hearing your views on it (I don't know why I am wording this like an mf formal inquiry) (regardless) (obsessed with the problematic ship post with the like yknow the information on it)
i'm glad ur obsessed with the info.. i am TOO. as for the question(s), i wouldn't necessarily say i actually have a pairing that i really hate.. because who am i to judge other people for who they wanna pair together; i'm a fan of quite the doodoo pairings as well, as everyone knows. since i don't snoop around in the fandom as a whole i can't say there's something that really annoys me, but as a hot take i'd say...... m*raak isn't romanceable at all, especially with the LDB, if sticking to canon real tight. nothing wrong with going off-canon to have fun though. but i do say this as someone that genuinely hated him and was annoyed by him my whole playthru + i wouldn't ever save him or anything even if that was on option (real evil of me i know) so i wouldn't get the '''''hype'''''' around him and this whole LDB insert thing. i just think m*raak is too damaged of a person to be attracted to anyone but tentacles after spending 90% of his life in mora's realm💚 Love that for him. but i'm glad to see people have their fun with him and his character in other ways, too
this is gonna get long so going under the cut after this LOL
&& i'd say a pairing that kinda makes me itch would be t*llius/ulfr*c but that's because it doesn't genuinely even feel real at all like let's sit down and think. it's in the category of '2 men that hate each other (even worse are at political war levels of disagreement) we should pair them'. a pairing that tastes like soup that doesn't have salt in it yk. obviously there are ways they could get along for like 0.3 seconds but other than that it's nothing to me *÷&×>÷,&2 i believe people don't even see ulfr*c as a traumatized insane mental asylum crazy person that wouldn't be able to form normal relationships (Sad). not even saying all this as a elituli4lyfer, just in general. also g*lmar/ulfr*c is rich with flavor so idk why choose that over this but everyone has their preferences 😊
that's all i got to say pretty much i guess. i'm happy if other people are happy doing what they like so i hope nobody gets mad at what i said here lol 💙 i don't have a ship i consider to be the Worst of the Worst

IDW1 must take place on an alternate Earth where no one has ever heard of ACAB and everyone wears "thin blue line" merchandise because there's literally no other way that a single Autobot killing a USAmerican cop in self defense would be such worldwide news that even Mexican journalists would go "OMG???? You like, killed a cop?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?" and it wasn't even framed as like, "you killed a human," the phrasing every time any character talked about it was very specifically "he killed a cop".
The cop was also threatening to shoot a group of surrendering/not-attacking/injured Autobots btw which is just the icing on the cake honestly lmao
