Battle styles... let's see...
Fox:
Fox is a trickster, so it only makes sense that she would order her Pokémon to use moves like Hypnosis, Fake Out, and most of all, Trick Room. Trick Room is what she's a master at, and she employs to destroy her opponents. Once that happens, then she uses ridiculously strong and slow Pokémon to annihilate the opponent's team.
It makes battles against others much easier, because most people choose speedy partners, especially those who actually have tried to hurt her. She's also rather ruthless when she gets serious, and this is why she's the only member of Virulent Spark that has ever achieved Championship in any manner.
When cornered, she laughs, maniacally, at the misfortune of her enemies that get caught in the trick room. Rhyperior and Octillery devastate with their Rock Slide and Water Spout combo that hits everything before they can even realise what's going on.
In much less serious situations, she is less crazy, and much more likely to use her other Pokémon.
Spikes:
The Pokémon Spikes current have are all not evolved in any manner, but that's fine to Spikes, because despite the idea that Pokémon are stronger when they evolve, Spikes pushes her Pokémon to their very limit in order to defeat her opponents. Someone thought a zigzagoon was weak? Spikes will make them eat those words. Though, she never managed to take part in the League other than by being a gym trainer, she learned all the battle techniques she knows from the Spikemuth gym.
Havok:
As a war veteran, Keith avoids conflict. The explosions, the blasts, they are too much for him. However... he would absolutely fight if he were attacked. It's a kill or be killed scenario. Electricity and steel are his chosen Pokémon, and he will absolutely order his Pokémon to electrocute someone and crush to the point of death. By the time the opponent knows it, it's too late.
Lenore:
Lenore is probably the least likely to get into a real fight, she enjoys battling for the sport, and enjoys training others to reach their highest potential. Her Pokémon are grass and rock types, so she often uses binding, status effects, and sand to her advantage. She's never fought anyone for real before since Team Star annexed themselves from the Academy, though even then, battles were conducted with rules and class.
Blitz:
Blitz is herself, a fighter. She will punch a trainer in the face, while ordering her Pokémon to punch their Pokémon. Her extreme resilience is what keeps her going. Oh, you thought you were going to have a Pokémon battle? No. You're having a fistfight, too. She doesn't battle, she will fight. If you order a Pokémon to attack her? She will fistfight that too. And win. There's a rumour that she's actually got Pokémon DNA in her, and that's why she can handle getting hit with Pokémon moves so well.
Zephyr:
Zephyr is shy and that shyness is what puts people off guard when battling. Elegant and eerie, Zephyr and their Pokémon use tactics like Will-O-Wisp and Tailwind to gain the upper hand. They enjoy battling for the sport, and avoid any real conflict, but if a real fight were to happen... well, either Zephyr wordlessly orders them, or they act of their own accord. That perhaps makes them more dangerous, as there's no stopping their Pokémon from destroying their victims.

Opinions on you as a person? Well... I don't really know you that well... But based off of what I see here... You're very nice, you work hard, very passionate about the Kirbyverse! You do your best to accommodate everyone, answering every question! Not to mention, very supportive of other creators! I'd say you're pretty cool!
What spurred this on?
Aghh! /pos Thank you...
Thank you to everyone because ALL of you wrote really nice things?!? I really do have a skewed view of myself, I guess... No one even said I needed to work harder on all the stuff I say I will do and then don't ever seem to do in good time >.>;;
(Speaking of, to the anon who specifically said they want to see me stream on Twitch again, that is a VERY good idea and I would love to!! That sounds like a great time and I could use the fun. I would also...haha... I would LOVE to stream myself going through the WHOLE series so we can talk cool Kirby facts together!!)
-
I guess I was feeling conflicted because another round of the Kirby OC Tournament is upon us and I kinda want to...cheer for my OC and produce more content of him (he's back to rotating in my head, rotisserie chicken style) but...I've been doing that non-stop for MONTHS already!! ^^;; And I also MISS being the kind of Kirby blog that went on weird drunken rants about Dark Crafter and other canon characters! (Or gave precious time to my beloved OTP...)
I worried people, even people invested in the tourney, might think I'm being flaky or self-absorbed for wanting to give my OC just a little more attention... (I'm also struggling to find the right way to do so! I have a LOT of roleplay-related anxieties + having a grimdark angst puppy OC doesn't help. And even though I have been dipping my toes in, I worry maybe I'm just more cut out for solo writing...?)
...But either way, I expect OC content to drop off naturally once the tourney is over in October (this will be my "one" first-and-last OC experiment too) so I suppose it's not that much of a wait anyway!
-
Also, maybe we'll get some other kind of !surprise! big Kirby news in the meantime that will put my head back on straight! XD

Love (cannot emphasis how much sarcasm there is in that word) that an official Canadian government response to high cellphone rates is to switch carriers.
Switch it to what? We basically have three companies since one was allowed to eat the forth (with the government saying it wasn't anti-competition and the company eating the other pinky promising they wouldn't jack rates up). Even the smaller companies have to rent infrastructure from the Big Three so there's only so much they can do if that rent costs an arm and a leg.
And that's not touching on how many "small companies" are actually just subsidiaries of the Big Three. You may save $5 but you're still with Telus/Rogers/Bell.
Or that the actual small companies tend to have shit coverage because they don't have the infrastructure available to them and are prevented from getting it. Or their traffic is throttled in favour of the Big Three's customers. Or both.
Or that they're extremely regional thus aren't an option for a huge chunk of Canada's population.
We have no true options and the government has shown time and again that they're fine with monopolies, in multiple industries, and don't care when said monopolies jack up prices to make shareholders and the c-suite more money at the expense of everyone else. At most there will be a verbal slap on the wrist and a giftcard for $25 that people have to register for, for a decade and a half of price gouging.
It's not talked a whole lot about outside the country from what I've seen and heard but Canada is a country of monopolies. A handful of companies own nearly everything, every province has a family or two that owns a hell of a lot (Nova Scotia is basically owned by one family at this point), and our government ignores it. Even the branch that is supposed to be against monopolies is fine with mergers and takeovers in most cases.
Because, you know, the company said it totally wouldn't use consumers' lack of options to increase prices.

I am kind of not seeing Armand wanting to kill Louis. This would be far too out of character for me to ever beleive. I'm thinking he was doing whatever he could to live in his definition of survival, or at least doing all this to maintain his bubble of control. The whole coven was against him, and I do legitimately believe Armand was oblivious due to love. Then when push came to shove he did make his choice, he did rehearse and go along with the play despite his feelings and his wants. Not out of character for someone who's used to being needless or same that he flood with emotion the moment someone [louis] actually cares about his needs. Or maybe more believable is that this plot - some version of it - started way before his feelings were ever real and this was a choice of following through with it. Under threat likely, him still not realizing the extent of the coven's desire for bloodlust. Him, maybe being misled to believe they'd hold off long enough to let it go if Louis was proven to simply stay with him. Maybe if it was his idea to begin with, and in this scenario he'd at least have been there when this was being thrown around, perhaps he really thought his power and ruling would dissuade its reality. And then the ball drops.
He didn't want to kill Louis, is my point. If he did he'd have done it way sooner, and he wouldn't have let him exact any kind of revenge. Though Claudia, Madeleine, I could see, but I also don't think by the time they're running off together he would want the alternative either. If anyone wanted this it was the coven. So, it's not a matter of wanting to Armand but choosing to do this despite that. The real question therefore is: Why would he choose to go forward with it/go along with it? That's what I think we need to be asking.
Is it that he makes the choice that he does, because it's easier to submit than rise up? It is because the choice really wasn't a choice at all? Was it practical to him? Don’t run to one thing when this other thing is guaranteed to stick around? Was he in too deep to back out by the time he thought it mattered whether they live or die? Much can be delved into there. Trying to figure out why he wanted it isn't going to bring up anything.

slowly returning to the big miravi fic i was working on and trying to recall everything that i was going to have each individual chapter be, though i might also discard the chapter names i had going as a theme (or to add them back later, after its finished) since i dont know exactly how many chapters this will be
also im thinking about adding another merfolk in the beginning scene, both because it helps set the scene as something weird going on (since miranda's serfs are notably not merfolk and aaravi has only seen other merfolk than miri and bell inside of the actual merkingdom), and because im REALLY thinking about how i write the help lately and all of miri's serfs and staff and servants and fleshing them out. its been a huge pain in my side how every single fucking thing lately refuses to include the help and to write them out, including trying to include rich, powerful characters who dont need staff or help to run their estates or do anything, in a way that notably does not exist in reality and only serves to further mentally and psychologically separate out the classes.
which is both good and bad because, oh boy, i get to design more merfolk characters! but also, OH NO, I HAVE TO DESIGN MORE MERFOLK CHARACTERS.

Been progressively getting more depressed and weepy on a daily basis about the hopelessness and meaningless of my life n situation n just today realized "oh it's because I go back to school on monday" and I associate school with pain because the seats are always fucking horrible and I always have to do sooo much work and coordination with accommodations, and I have a 3 hour long class this semester that I have to take in order to graduate with my minor and I cannot sit almost anywhere for that fucking long given my health problems. So I'm going to have to probably talk to this professor and beg them to let me stream in-- which will probably not work. My spanish class is in a room with god awful seating. I have one class more than I usually do and even though its a 1 credit class it's still another hour I have to spend in pain.
So all that said, my brain is apparently so traumatized by how awful my pain has gotten in the last 2 years that it's basically triggered by just. school. Probably need some sort of cptsd diagnosis. And lots of therapy. idk guys. I hope I can actually make it to my graduation.
