There is one person who will always be rooting for you, believing in you, and hoping with everything in them that you heal, overcome, and thrive. And that person is the former version of yourself. It's the former version of you that had to be still and didn't speak up pushing the current version of you to be bold and speak out. It's the former version of you that fought with everything in them to push through the pain to get out of bed in the morning that encourages the current version of you to seize and fully live in the blessing of each day. It is the former version of you that endured through the valley always reminding you that you possess the wisdom, strength, and capability to not only embrace the mountain tops but also empower from them. Idk I just hate when people get offended when someone says "Sasuke was mentally unstable" Like okay 1- he broke out into genuine LAUGHTER and I dont understand how you can't be a little weirded out by that and 2- Being mentally unstable isn't like??? A bad thing???

Like??? Being unstable or mentally unwell is in no circumstance a bad thing. You're sick. Would you refute it with the same vigor if I said he had the flu too? Like idk it might just be me but Sasuke finally breaking down makes so much sense for his journey. Like I get people who just explain it away or don't like that hc. But people who outwardly get offended and hurt by me saying he was unwell like? Its really not that serious and it says a LOT about you that you can't handle your favourite character being sick.

I’m dead serious when I say keep the promises you make to yourself (and others) and you will transform. It builds self esteem like nothing else, but will also massively accelerate your life too. If you can’t be sure you’ll follow through, stop telling yourself you’ll start the exercise, pick up that hobby, make that call. Be honest with yourself. Your self esteem degrades every single time you don’t follow through. Your relationships tarnish every single time you don’t follow through. If you make that promise I’m sorry but you have to push yourself (within reason) to follow through. Not everything is about being comfortable at all times. It’s okay if you have to take a bit of time after to recover from exertion. You will build character. If you only stick to one piece of self improvement advice, make it this one. I’m dead serious!!!!!!!!!

I'm a many-many-generations-Appalachian, and when I was a teenager, everyone assumed I'd leave, so I thought I should. And then when I did leave, someone called my mama and told her I was the most homesick child they'd seen in decades, that she should come get me. She didn't, because she wanted me to succeed that badly, but I got myself back to Appalachia PDQ. And then I never left again, because Appalachia is where I belong.

I know the stereotypes, but we can be happy here, too. I've got a good life, with a well-paying job I love, a silver anniversary spouse, wonderful children, and a nice house. My mama lives with us and that's just how we like it. Our quietly queer little family is proud to be Appalachian, and our children learn our history, like the recorded story from their great-grandfather who saw the Baldwin-Felts get off the train in Matewan.

Are there problems in Appalachia? Sure. But that doesn't mean we are all living in misery. Appalachian lives are more than poverty porn and strip mines and drugs and Dew mouth. We have our own festivals and music and art and foods and books to celebrate our shared heritage. We have our own holidays, too, like the first day of deer season. There can be a lot of joy in our Appalachian lives, if we let it.

And of course, we can all join together to remind folks that #heaintfromaroundhere ;)

Every possible Anne Rice content warning on this paragraph but I was thinking about Marius and the ways in which he is a deeply uncomfortable character (to me) and to be honest I think a lot of it is just. he ruins the teen/vampire romance not by being too much of a boyfriend but by being too much of a mentor and guardian. Eternal creature of the night who saves you only to damn you to something arguably worse (with love) is sexy. However I do not care to watch someone take responsibly for guiding a teenager's moral development and providing them with the necessities of life while also falling in love with them. Marius loaning out Armand in the show runs counter to this obvious source of ick because it's about being a bad guardian, or a bad boyfriend, rather than the discomfort inherent in blurring those roles. A guy who is trying to be good wouldn't do that, probably, and Marius wants to be good to Armand while actively being jealous of his father. This is why my skin is crawling off my arms!!! It's enough.
