After filling out my observation card and taking in the detail, i took a window seat in isle 2 to absorb both the gorgeous scenery of Ojan plains and the bright c (crossed out) airy confines (?) of my train. Bright Tern pamphlet, kindly provided to me at the station, tells the traveler that their person shall be delivered swiftly and safely to Unschola held inns by nightfall. Seasoned ferroequinology fan such as myself in turn knows this ain't always true and schedules are more suggestions than rule.

6:50 Fell asleep promptly despite excitement. Car filled with low relaxed conversation and i can only hope i wasn't snoring like a complete fool.

7:20, i gather since i had a moment of awe and frankly dared not bring attention to myself at the moment. Yet clearly they do not mind me.

Page 5 Immediately past 7 car visited by a slight ojant. woman of quiet but nasty demeanor wearing Tern colors, heavy tea cart in front, steaming. Was tempted to strike a conversation, but reconsidered. Neither of the Shapes said a word yet. They don't touch the tea either, which is plain silly to me - never have i heard about train foods being nefarious to one's person.

Page 6 (page break) a glance in the window. Spent all my patience on detailing one sketch. M. seems to be asleep or sitting terrifyingly still.

8:43 IMPOSSIBLE PEOPLE! Wish they let me be. A. caught me sketching and very rudely grabbed my book. Nearly made me tear a page. If every Shape starts attacking inno- (crossed out) Both are still silent. A. ignored and possibly disrespected my Society badge. Book returned to me moderately crumpled. 9:17 Tern entered a tunnel as we were coming up to the mountain foothills. Terribly intrigued but can't see the devil's arse in there. A. got tired of harassing me and is now fast asleep. M. in turn finally aware of life.

Page 7 9:20 - still in the dark All curtains rolled down as one! How i wish i knew the mechanism behind this. This further startled an impressionable young man in isle 5, and i admit i was secretly taken with the feeling too, but all were reassured by a returning passenger.

Managed to strike a conversation! Emidio seemed happy to discuss the Tern with me, and i've put a great amount of his observation down in shorthand. Told we're due to arrive at Ravine just some 10 minutes after leaving the tunnel, yet when - varies greatly. Despite being as persistent as i dared, didn't get too much about the dark route we're taking. Hiw can it be that we spend a different time under the peaks QAD and yet make stops with enviable punctuality? My greatest desire is to find any personnel besides the gloomy tea woman, yet not so likely with the Shapes around.

If i am to trust Emidio's words, some of the paper trash rolling under the seats he swears is a rudimentary emdemic life form akin to rootless plants of the west. Still unsure if that's a joke of his.

Page 8 (next to the sketch of a scene) Ravine-Postal 9:50 10:10 Finally back to open sky. Shapes out for a smoke and look almost careless. Sent a postcard back to Society in Jahna. Bought steamed buns of decent taste. Really need to find Emidio and get a good expo for Ravine, but he's nowhere to be found. Way too many insects ouside.

Page 9 10:40 - RvneP -> Cantbank Well, they do talk! Shapes have congratulated me on being through "the worst of it", whatever they meant. Both of them are now quite loud and inconsiderate. A. only laughed when i mentioned his rudeness. I miss the morning quiet.

11:00 Passed a mountain lake which amused us all greatly. At first i thought we're being blinded by the suns, yet the bright shimmer came from dozens of fish, moving through with their sides to the light. A. is particularly taken with the picture.

okay thoughts/timestamps for the phanniversary newlywed game video!! (random breaks are to appease the tumblr gods)

:55 - The capitalesterification of things that used to be unspoken fandom holidays is startling to me still. Jarring, even. It's theirs to own; I'm not really mad about it. But it feels weird. 2:00 - "You are our third in this video. The questioning third." I need a shot, actually. 2:13 - Dan referencing how they are basically the same person at this point before it even starts. 2:27 - Who would be caught tied to a wall at furcon? Unanimously Dan. This doesn't surprise me at all; my headcanon for a while has been that Dan is more likely to identify as a furry while Phil is more likely to be fascinated watching furries have sex but not identify with any other aspects of it as much. I think Phil probably just enjoys things a bit to the left of center, in general, even if he doesn't want to partake himself. 3:32 Who is bossies? Unanimously Phil. I love this little peak into their dynamic. Ignoring the "stinky baby" thing, they are bossy in different ways. Dan is more big picture trying to accomplish goals and Phil is more to try and satisfy his individual needs.

4:05 - Who is more likely to cut the video off due to a sponsor? Obviously this one is Phil, and cue spon segment that I skipped the first time and am skipping now. 5:28 - Who would accidentally answer the door with no pants on? Unanimously Phil. I think this just speaks to a little more of Phil's general obliviousness and ability to be in his own bubble when he's comfortable, which is kind of fascinating considering Phil seems more anxious and hyperalert when they are in public. 5:50 - Who drinks more? Unanimously Dan. We knew this already about Phil being a lightweight and Dan not being one, but I do enjoy confirmation that Phil is just a silly drunk and the shoutout to a classic dinof video. 6:36 - Who is the gayest? Unanimously Phil. This does not surprise me at all and I am going to answer an ask specifically just about this. But tl;dr I think Phil has a very binary sense of attraction and Dan doesn't. Also he gets a gold star for "the concept of women." 7:02 - Who's most likely to get a tattoo? Unanimously Phil. This Phil lore is interesting and I do think he'll end up with a tattoo at some point. 8:20 - Who is most likely to have the next medical emergency? Unanimously Phil. His body really is a fail. :(

8:42 - Who is better at time management? So many questions in and the first differing response!! This immediately took me back to the roulette game. Good to know Dan has not changed in his stubbornness, and also that he believes a divorce is when he can't see Phil for five seconds. 9:44 - Who snores more when sleeping? Unanimously Phil. rip everyone on that tour bus, apparently? Now I need to know if Dan is the type to just put in earplugs, or if he wakes Phil up when it's too loud. 10:16 - Who starts more arguments? Their second differing response, and imo the most satisfying moment of the video. Insert this type of domestic into my vein. Dan is pettier about small things but he says he's just pointing things out/observing it, and to him he's just verbalizing it and to Phil it's Dan starting an argument. Phil wants Dan to let more things just wash over him. 11:10 - Who kills/removes the spiders? Unanimously Phil, which we already knew but I love a good renewed confirmation that he removes them with a glass instead of killing them. 11:31 - Who is more likely to stand up for the other when a restaurant gets their order wrong? Unanimously Dan, followed by the beautiful phrasing of Phil not even complaining if he got "the cheese super allergy knife bowl, mmm tasty." But the dichotomy here that I really love is how in the microcosm of their relationship Phil is bossier, more outspoken with turning things into arguments, and more likely to ask for and get his way… but when it comes to outside of the relationship Dan finds that more comfortable. Dan really does have that older sibling-verging-on-mom override.

11:53 - Who's more likely to be lurking on social media? Unanimously Phil. Dan is traumatized and I do believe he doesn't want to know or see the commentary on himself or his projects except through a filter. Philter. Sorry. I'll move on. 12:10 - Who is the bigger nerd? Unanimously Dan. Dan does seem more for ADHD style hyperfixation whereas Phil is more of a lifetime fandom person. 12:47 - Which one of you is the alpha? They each answered themselves, but neither of them took this seriously. Phil is right tbh they are both betas. 13:17 - Phil doesn't like being told what to do. This is probably my second favorite part of the video. I feel like it makes sense but isn't something I would readily think of; he doesn't like confrontation so it's not an element of his personality that we would see come out a lot. But he's also someone that's essentially never been in a scenario past the school age where he really had to answer to anyone above him. He's equal in his relationship, he's financially independent, he's in control of his career. Any 'boss' he's had was an unconventional scenario (like BBC1 where he didn't have to apply to be there, he was invited) and while he's worked hard he's just done it of his own volition and not due to anyone outside of himself and his partnership requiring it.

13:29 - Who's more likely to flirt with the waiter? Unanimously Phil, which I love because this is really a slice of true Dan. He didn't once try to imply that he's the lolz horny on grindr getting those hookups slut boy summer persona. Dan is only that in theory; in reality he's worrying about politics and his own anxiety and making sure Phil wasn't served cheese allergy knife soup. 13:59 - Who's more likely to become a stripper? Unanimously Dan. Shoutout to the nakedbooth era of 2009. I also appreciate his point about how being any kind of content creator is similar. 14:40 - Who is most likely to leave their hair in the shower wall? Opposing answers, but Phil's logic is flawed. It isn't who will see it, it's who would do it. Confirmation from Dan again that Phil is very messy and also still uses three towels. 15:04 - Who has a worse sense of direction? Unanimously Phil. I really identify with this.

15:14 - Who has the highest screen time? Unanimously Dan, but they go into the differences in screen time. Phil seems to actively use his more whereas Dan uses it passively to watch things. Dan never lets his mind just be chill and doesn't want to be alone with his thoughts, whereas Phil can rawdog the laundry with nothing playing. Dan uses his phone for escapism, Phil uses it to seek out information. 15:52 - Bubbly Ben coming in clutch with "Whom's ass claps the hardest?" - I need an oil painting of Dan's expression as Phil reads this. And the caption should be, "Answer the fucking question, Phil." (It is, obviously, a unanimous Phil.) Followed by one of Dan's patented over the top 'we crossed a line' which I'll forgive him for in this one instance since the entire video was fairly free of his go-to filler quotes.

You had a strict routine.

Wake up at 7:20 a.m., out the door by 7:45 a.m., shuttle to work by 8:15 a.m., and the rest was history till it’s time to clock out at 5:00 p.m. Rinse and repeat until the weekends hit.

Being the lead for your little team of five had its perks. You never had to do any of the grunt work minus project managing and individual check-ins with your team members. Things were easy because you worked with some of the most competent employees.

Human Resources was one of the fields people strayed away from due to their bad rep on upholding the company’s interests and values first. It’s true. You love your work though. You love that there’s a solid beginning and end to your job. Someone was always hiring and someone was always applying. Someone always had a personnel issue and someone was there to fix it.

There was always a resolution.

Let’s be real — not everything was a happy resolution. You worked by the books and as a result, you’ve had to make some difficult calls. As the team lead, you’ve taken upon yourself to be the bearer of bad news. Just like how you’re on a Teams call right now with Jeon Jungkook, lead of the Data Analysis & Corrections team. It’s a group meeting between you, him, his manager, and your team member to break the news that a promotion in place for one of his team members was not approved.

“Again, I do apologize, but even with the justification memo, the budget cuts for this quarter won’t allow for another promotion in place. The team member hasn’t reached their second probation either—“

“Yes, but we’re trying to retain talent in our unit. I have another two that already accepted firm offers for another company. I’m down to my last two team members, and if I don’t offer some sort of incentive to stay, work is going to pile up and we’re not going to meet our service level agreements.” Jungkook adjusts his headset. This wasn’t your first rodeo with Jungkook. He’s always been an advocate when it came to his team, which was why his team members always excelled and promoted after a year in their position. You admired him for his persistency … until it gets escalated to a meeting like this.

“Have you considered reaching out to other teams for assistance? Perhaps we can redirect a couple folks over for temporary assistance.” You offer.

His manager takes over the meeting to give his take on the decision. You zone out. Mute button on to hide the sigh you let out. Unlike Jungkook, his manager had a way of steamrolling and derailing a meeting. One skill you’ve learned in your role is to let the other person talk. If you don’t contribute, they will eventually run out of things to say.

Jeon, Jungkook [4:48 p.m.]: what are you doing on 2/14?

You [4:48 p.m.]: Work. It’s a Friday.

Jeon, Jungkook [4:50 p.m.]: oh ok

You react to the Teams message with a thumbs up and refocus on the call where Jungkook’s manager continues his rambling.

Jeon, Jungkook [4:55 p.m.]: your hair is pretty btw. is that a new necklace?

You [4:55 p.m.]: Flattery won’t change the outcomes of this meeting, Jungkook.

Jeon, Jungkook [4:56 p.m.]: aw, can’t say i didn’t try …

You stifle a smile. Eyes avoid the part of the screen where Jungkook smiles back dumbly. Certainly it was no smiling matter now that the call has gone over the allotted time and it’s past your typical clock out time when you interrupt his manager. It was for your team member’s sake since they were paid by the hour. Being a team lead, you were technically always on the clock. But again, you had a strict routine — out by 5:00 p.m. and this was well past your work schedule.

“We can table this for another time. I’ll put something on the calendar later this week.”

“If it’s not to approve the promotion, then I don’t see the need in the meeting.” His manager sighs.

“I’ll meet on our behalf, if it’s alright with you,” Jungkook says to his manager, “I’d like to discuss some alternatives.”

His manager waves him off and thanks everyone for their time before signing off the meeting. Jungkook apologizes to you with a tight-lipped smile.

He gives you the same one later on that evening when it’s just you and him waiting for the parking shuttle. Tie loose and hair no longer gelled up like it usually is in the morning, Jungkook stands next to you in silence.

“Sorry for going over the meeting time.”

“Not your fault,” you don’t look up from your phone, too busy typing out your grocery list, “just don’t include your manager in the call next time.”

You know it’s not his call to make. As great as a leader Jungkook is to his team, he’s only as great as he could be under a micromanager. Doesn’t have the heart to leave his team, but also doesn’t deserve that sort of treatment from his manager. You’ve hinted this to him plenty of times in the past. Sure, you recognize that any decision or advice given in your role needs to be in the best interest of the company. But Jungkook was an integral part of the company and taking care of an employee’s wellbeing was a part of your job too.

“Yeah, sorry about that,” he apologizes again, “you know how he is.”

You nod and step forward when the shuttle pulls in.

With plenty of open seats to choose from, Jungkook chooses to sit next to you. Always does, ever since you both started in this company years ago fresh out of college. He greets you every morning and texts you if he calls out sick … as if you’d notice if he wasn’t there.

Newsflash, you do. Always do.

“You really aren’t doing anything on Valentine’s Day?” His forearm takes up more space on the armrest than necessary, but you don’t mind.

“I told you, work.”

“Boring.”

“You have something planned?” You raise one of your brows at him. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Jungkook dates and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he had someone to celebrate Valentine’s Day with.

“Not anymore.” He pouts, “work schedule conflict.”

“Bummers.” You go back to looking at your phone, awkwardly relieved at the revelation.

It’s a quiet ride, but it’s nice because you know that you’ll be home soon. That is, until Jungkook nudges your arm lightly with his elbow.

“I got a job offer from another company.”

People promote. People retire. People come and go. It’s normal in your field, so why do you feel like you’re being deserted? You’ve been hinting that he deserved a promotion. Know he deserves more, but wasn’t expecting this.

“Congrats,” you try to say evenly.

“Turned it down though.”

Another breath of relief leaves you this evening.

“Why?”

“Cause you’d be bored on these shuttle rides without me.” He smiles.

You roll your eyes, but mirror his smile nonetheless.

“Old man Han told us yesterday he’s going to retire by the end of this year. Think I can stick around till then and apply for his position,” Jungkook stretches his legs.

“Ah.” You’ve already known about this months ago given that Jungkook’s manager notified your area to ensure a smooth transition before his exit. Wanted your team to get started on recruiting a couple months before his last day so that he can pick out and train his next protege.

“Ugh, you knew about it, didn’t you?”

“Sorry, had to keep that on the low. HR things.”

The shuttle drops you both off at the off-site parking. It’s just two cars in the lot parked right next to each other: his pulled in from the rear and yours from the front. It makes getting into your car difficult because one person would always have to wait for the other person to go first. Jungkook always lets you go first.

You open your door, pause, contemplate on what you say next. A simple goodnight or drive safe would do … but you know he’s had a rough week. He was very vocal about it in his Teams messages with you. You turn to him and he has this anticipating look on his face.

“The justification memo was good, but we need numbers. You’re good with data — ask me for some tomorrow.” You say. You assumed he would be happy with your tip, instead he looks a bit dejected as he bids you goodnight.

The workweek continues and Jungkook was able to get his team member’s promotion in place approved thanks to your help on the side.

Friday rolls by and you greet your team members one by one before heading to your desk.

“Oh, there’s something at your desk.” Jihyo pushes herself out from her cubicle. “Delivery person told us it’s for you. No sender name though … I think you’ve gotten yourself a secret admirer.” She smiles coyly.

That’s when you see the bouquet of pink peonies with a little note.

Flattery won’t change the outcomes, but you always seem to find a way. I appreciate you.

Due South Ads/Promos - Compilation 1

This project was definitely a labor of love 😅 After finding a lot of dS ads buried in larger ad compilations, I decided to clip each of these ads and make a dS promos compilation

any videos I came across that were only/mostly dS ads I added to a YT playlist here (playlist tumblr post here)

Final count for this vid is 65 ads/promos! Captions are available!

Where applicable/available, I also clipped the ad end card (with the show title/day/time/channel info), but cut out any of the in-between ads (mostly Diagnosis Murder promos). I also adjusted the audio levels to try and make everything as level as possible, and fixed a couple of clips that had de-synced audio

The stamping was made on Netflix, so if a few seconds are wrong or different when watching it somewhere else, that might be why.
