turned 32 yesterday and worked my first 12hr shift as managing/closing bartender, and it went smoothly and maybe we made decent money & even more excitingly, the perfume I bought off mercari for like 1/5th retail is maybe actually the real deal and it smells divine and my coworkers bf who works at the dispo gave me pre-rolls that are coated in keef. And one of our regulars (the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met) brought me homemade chocolate chip cookies. Life is good. I’ve been on T a year and a half and every day the face looking back in the mirror is one that I finally recognize as Me.

scent of the day: lost cherry (tom ford)

i've been curious about this fragrance for years. now that i'm trying it for the first time, it feels oddly... normal for how hyped it is? not necessarily disappointing - just familiar, and not particularly avant garde. this is probably a result of its popularity; i might have smelled it before on other people without realising.

the syrupy cherry is very prominent from the start, which gives it a medicinal vibe. i don't mind that at all, but the scent is very very sweet. it's mostly cherry and vanilla on my skin, with a hint of liquor and spice, and doesn't have a lot of projection. for something with a 300€+ price tag, one would hope for more oomph, but unfortunately that's a complaint i see often about this fragrance. after some time, the base notes (mainly the patchouli, vetiver and clove) create a leather-like impression that gives it a little more edge and character, but by then the scent is pretty faint already.

my boyfriend said he "liked yesterday's perfume better" (angels' share by kilian) and i have to agree. within the realm of boozy gourmands (my beloved), lost cherry is nice but just doesn't have the same charisma. if you sampled it and were left wanting something darker and dirtier, then bpal's blood kiss (syrupy cherries, vetiver, clove, a very new-age muskiness and chocolate undertones) may be for you. if you'd like a cleaner red fruit scent that's not as sweet, then try bpal fruit of paradise (bitter pomegranate).

addendum several hours later: this has gone full patchouli-sweet on me, which smells a little like decay and a lot like discount store perfume. it takes a lot of money to look smell this cheap, darling! not a fan

wahhhh thank you.....my reviews arent even anything special i dont conjure images well yet but im flattered....

despite having so many perfumes i feel like im still learning what my favourite notes are, i very often get caught up in what sounds good but i fail to really grasp the compatibility of the scents...or even what might have been compatible can be blended poorly.

my favourite notes im familiar with would have to be: honey, which ive found best encapsulated in Bee Ellis Brooklyn, jasmine, best in Gorgeous Jasmine Gucci (despite very sad longevity..), sweetened rose which sadly all the best looking ones ive found are hard to find or just hard to get in canada but Rose Gourmand Zara i do rather like, and i think i must love orange blossom cause its there in all the sweetest perfumes ive ever smelled (Paradoxe, Love Don't Be Shy, Made in Heaven, and D&G Devotion that i just ordered after loving it instantly in the store)

i need to get more familiar with milk, coffee, hay, and i think i could really love seaweed! i think its what lends that moldy smell to Sea of Gray Solstice Scents, and i actually love it so much. cant help it i have mold nostalgia!! im relating to animalic girlies now like yeah sometimes stuff stinks really good and its cozy.
