After I read the Abigail Thorn @realphilosophytube quote at the top of this post, I had the strangest dream. Everything I'd ever thought about transness, suicide, agency, family, and duty was in it, and, predictably, it was in fiction form. That dream is now out, in the form of the piece Tragic Accident. Women in the walls! Transition as suicide! Ambiguously historical setting! Tragic Accident has it all, in less than a thousand words.

Obviously, this piece is very close to my heart. It's one of my favorites I've written so far. I'm very happy to be able to share it (and another weird flash piece, The Scar) with a community of people whom I hope will very much enjoy it—first with $5+ Patreons, and now with everyone. Deeply saddened by the tragic death of Tere Livingstone, a league rugby player Papamoa. It's just devastating and heart-wrenching to see a young life tragically cut short in an accident involving a rugby game, so I'd like to express my deepest condolences and thoughts to his whanau and friends at this really difficult time. However, I'm glad to hear that the young man donated his organs. Again, my sympathies are with his family at this difficult time.

I love how in PJO Percy makes such a point of trying to spare the enemy demigods because they're just being tricked or brainwashed and he couldn't possibly let them die (because killing your enemies is for the bad guys), and then in HoO we finally get to see the POV of Nico "as long as it's not technically murder it can go in a kids' book" di Angelo, and he just does not hesitate.
