THE TASTE OF LOVE IS ON MY GUMS (I WANT TO DRINK YOUR TEARS AS MOUTHWASH)
[SYNOPSIS] ˚⁀➷。 suguru decides winter is your season, after all.
[NOTES] ˚⁀➷。 this man has me tweaking so goddamn hard. you have no idea. lmao. suguru didn’t go crazy au, i used they/them pronouns for kirara. also y’all should lowkey listen to margaret by lana while reading this
Tumblr media
“five minutes, everyone!” satoru’s voice echoes through the dimly-lit room, and you hear some people squeak and cheer.
your eyes flicker briefly to suguru, who’s standing right next to his best friend, and he catches you, eyes crinkling and a cherry blush on his face, probably thanks to the beer he drank as competition with the strongest sorcerer. satoru’s hand drapes around his neck, and he whispers something to him, enough for you not to hear from across the room, where you’re smoking your cigarette with shoko. you do, however, see the small punch your boyfriend gives the man, and chuckle, amused.
“mom, dad, let’s go!” the twins yell in unison, splitting, dragging you and suguru out by your arms, where everybody is.
yuta laughs as you’re pulled by him, almost stumbling over, and megumi and yuuji do too. nobara stands outside, waving her arms around in the air, next to maki, toge and panda, who’re doing just the same, firecrackers and fireworks in their hands.
the school is crowded, this year everyone — including the kyoto students and utahime — joined for new year’s. as you’re dragged outside, nanako’s grip slips from your arm, and her and mimiko leave you and suguru behind, opting to jump on the third years’ backs, and hakari and kirara abide without a word.
“i blame satoru for giving them so much energy.” suguru jokes and wraps an arm around your shoulders, beginning to walk forward. you laugh at him, because you think the same.
slowly, everyone gathers outside: shoko’s lighting another cigarette, nanami is fixing his tie while ino just stands next to him, freezing, after insisting his sheisty is enough to keep him warm, gojo’s pestering utahime and yuki is trying to calm choso after todo slipped a joke about itadori being his brother again. kusakabe’s exasperated as he sees panda and toge fool around with the soon-to-be explosions. yuta and maki are laughing, and nobara and the boys gathered next to nanako, mimiko and the third years.
miwa and kokichi stand somewhere, hand in hand, and momo gushes over them as kamo only sighs, and mai is absolutely resisting the urge to tease them. akari, like the big sister she is, is scolding arata for drinking beer, and ijichi, as always, is trying to calm her down.
suguru walks with you, a bit out front, holding you close. he thinks he couldn’t have had it any better — thank the heavens you were by his side through everything — when he looks at you like this, his heart swells with anticipation. you’re 27 and he is too. in a month, 28 will hit him in the guts. still, he can’t wait.
“two minutes!” yuuji exclaims, and everybody starts to gather closer together, you and the boy with plum blossoms in his eyes the only ones outside of the small brownian motion happening behind. the pink-haired first-year tries to run forward, but megumi, hakari and yuta grip him by his hood.
“don’t, just wait.” they all say in unison, and nanako, mimiko, tsumiki, nobara and maki exchange looks, brows quirked up. the twins slide from their senpais’ backs back down, and move closer to the rest of the group.
everyone’s together.
everyone’s happy.
the moments fly by easily. fireworks start to bloom in the sky. the temples of the school are covered in snow, but the ground has been cleared, thanks to the amazing boys who made your high school years feel like nothing short of the worlds longest rollercoaster.
“five!” noritoshi finally yells.
you looks at suguru with a loving look in your eyes. his bun’s a bit disheveled, but you don’t mind.
“four!” yuki says next.
a particularly beautiful explosion catches your attention, and the boy lets you slip from his hold to step forward.
“three!” todo announces.
suguru’s heart is about to burst, he looks at his two best friends: wide grins on their shameless faces.
his hand travels to his pocket, and he slides something out. music’s blaring in the background from the empty room from inside, but he can only hear the echo of his heartbeat in his ears.
“two!” the kyoto girls yell excitedly.
you’re still with your back to him. he gets down on his knee.
throughout the heavens and the earth, please, god, let him be the honored one.
“one!” the tokyo kids yell.
everybody gasps, and pyrotechnics burn in the sky.
the twins are crying in the background, silently — their mom and dad are getting married — and megumi holds mimiko so close he thinks the air might leave her lungs. tsumiki’s looking at you two with the sweetest smile. toge’s arm is slung tightly around nanako’s shoulder.
“mentaiko.”
“choke.” nanako says back with a small laugh, and the blond flicks her forehead.
panda pats her head, and lets out an amused chuckle.
kirara can’t believe what they’re seeing. they side-eye kinji, who just stands there looking smug, and next to him, yuta smiles, and thinks he might let rika out to see this too, because after all, she somehow liked you from the beginning.
yuki pats choso’s shoulder, the poor cursed womb is crying. nanami looks at his favorite senior, and shoko tries to blink back tears, but utahime knows better, so she hugs her. satoru’s tears are burning through his sclera, but his glasses are good enough to hide them.
you turn around, right when the clock strikes midnight. a big smile is on your face, and then your hands cover your mouth in shock and disbelief and everything that feels like the shoujo mangas suguru laughed at you for liking.
“suguru?” you sniffle, and feel a tear fall from your eye unexpectedly.
he matches you, and one falls on his face too. it drags down on his right side, contouring his chiseled face. when it reaches the jawline, it falls.
“i love you, sweetheart.”
his throat almost constricts, his spine is tingling, another ten tears fall from his eyes as you nod, your own washing down your cheeks. another ten years is all he wants with you, and many more if that’s not too much to ask for.
“marry me, y/n.” his words are heavy, full of love, they peel you open, and lick your soul.
“yes.”
another sniffle, and he gets up, and lifts you up in his embrace. he kisses you like he wasn’t by your side for the last decade.
shibuya in winter doesn’t compare to this.
everyone’s cheering in the background, and panda lights his fireworks too. now you hear mimiko’s and nanako’s happy cries, and kirara’s bowling their eyes out next to kinji — you truly babied them too much, but you’ll still never admit — and megumi and tsumiki look at each other tenderly, boy’s head rested over your daughter’s. two of the people that raised them are now in front of them, and it’s not as if they didn’t know you loved each other, they just can’t believe they were allowed to see this moment.
yuuji and nobara are holding onto each other for dear life as they’re whimpering, and maki and mai shoot each other a happy look. kamo’s eyes dart open, and miwa’s muffling her sobs, her boyfriend right besides her, pinching her cheeks. momo feels her heart clench with so much happiness, and looks to the side, seeing utahime get all teary-eyed. todo’s clutching his necklace.
“finally…” satoru sighs, and nanami punches his shoulder, a ghost of a tear disappearing on the back of his hand.
suguru’s arm hooks under the back of your knees, and he turns around, with you in his hold, bridal style. teenage smiles on your faces: your hand is stretched out front, pink morganite and aquamarine shining in the moonlight.
“happy new year, everyone!” your fiancé cheers, and throws you in the air, above. a flash — shoko’s ancient polariod camera, and everyone comes rushing forward.

guys a blue lock x jjk au came to me in a dream do we fw it? (it’s not fully fleshed out yet, but this is what I have so far)
there are KIND OF. some jjk spoilers (I make references to certain events/ characters, so be warned)
so, there’s the Kyoto and Tokyo branches, and each would have maybe 5 students, here’s what I have so far+ explanations
TOKYO -
Nagi
2nd year (17)
cursed speech user, semi first grade
orphan (deceased sorcerer parents) + abandoned by relatives bc of his ct
has been a sorcerer for less than a year, reo found him during a mission 1st year
alright this one kinda just made sense in my head, cause he’s already pretty quiet + has trouble communicating (reo is the only one who can usually understand what he’s thinking, without him saying it..)
Reo
2nd year (17)
Heir to the mikage clan (one of big 3)
copy technique, 2nd grade awaiting promotion
has limited cursed
do I really need to explain this one? (reo’s already an heir + his chameleon/copying bit)
Isagi
2nd year (17)
sukuna’s vessel, special grade
main character whos strangely overpowered, but really has no idea what he’s doing
Chigiri
2nd year (16)
sorry guys I genuinely could not assign a canon ct to him, might have to make one up later, I will take suggestions tho
was scouted to jujustu tech after being involved in some kind of incident involving cursed spirits
Comes from a non-sorcerer family
Kunigami
2nd year (17)
deadly sentencing (domain expansion) + judgeman (shikigami)
grade 3
wanted to become a sorcerer to protect/pay for his family
older sister is a sorcerer as well
His whole ‘hero’ shtick, plus his righteousness was what made me pick these for him, and I know he’s not a seasoned lawyer like higuruma, but his morals are still pretty strong I’d say
KYOTO -
Karasu
3rd year (18)
black bird manipulation, 1st grade
usually watches fights from afar, uses his birds to help with recon or intel-gathering (but he can fight if he needs to)
comes from non-sorcerer family
Again, idk if I really have to explain this one (karasu’s known for being extremely analytical + ‘karasu’ means crow)
Otoya
2nd year (17)
blood manipulation, semi first grade
probably just became a sorcerer because he had nothing better to do
sorcerer family
This one was kinda like nagi, it makes sense in my head. I don’t really have a solid explanation, but it’s just the vibes I get from him
Yukimiya
3rd year (18)
2nd grade
extremely proficient at hand-to-hand combat/handling weapons
alright now, I had two possible ideas for him, but I haven’t fully decided yet, so I will update if I do figure it out
Alright, so you can skip this if you wanna, but these are the two options + explanations for yukki: 1) grade 2 sorcerer, completely blind, uses cursed energy to sense sorcerers/spirits around him (there was a whole bit about isagi comparing him to toph, but him not knowing who that is) 2) grade 4 sorcerer, has perfect vision, but cannot see cursed spirits without the help of special glasses, and has no cursed energy (like maki) < this one might not work, because he’s not a twin, but ocs exist for a reason yk!!!
Hiori
2nd year (16)
Heir to the hiori clan (one of big 3)
ten shadows technique + chimera shadow garden (domain)
2nd grade
inherited technique
faces heavy pressure/abuse from his clan to become the next head
has no interest in being a sorcerer
I think I kinda explained it in the 2nd to last bullet, but hiori already faces pressure from his parents to be the best, so making him a clan heir seemed reasonable in my head
Nanase
1st year (16)
straw doll technique, 3rd grade
non-sorcerer family
Again, like Otoya this is purely from vibes. I guess I was kind of influenced by nobara and Nanase both being from the country
———
alright that’s it for students ☝️ I’m considering adding some more, but we’ll see later.
now the teachers are:
Anri
Tokyo branch
powerful reversed cursed technique
grade 1
Vibes. She’d definitely be leagues cheerier than shoko though
Ego
Tokyo branch
creates cursed corpses
grade 1
The cursed corpses are like the blue lock men (if you don’t remember, they were the ai goalkeeper things)
———
now, before we get into the antagonists, I did plan one extra character:
Sae
Current head of the Itoshi clan (one of big 3)
limitless technique + possesses the six eyes
special grade
I knew sae had to be powerful, so I gave him the technique.
———
antagonist time 😈
Rin
Curse user, special grade
cursed spirit manipulation
non-inherited technique
sick of never being taken seriously for having a non-inherited technique, so he defected from his clan just as he was about to join jujustu tech
started a group of cursed users
:3 sibling fights! (Sae doesn’t gaf)
Shoei Barou
Curse user, grade 1
part of rin itoshi’s group
disaster flames
doesn’t get along with any of the other members, but sticks around to have powerful allies
barou was like. THE first one I chose to be a villain. He fr says it himself, if he can’t be the main character, he’s gonna become the villain.
Bachira
curse user, special grade
part of rin’s group
yorozu’s vessel
Guys. You gotta hear me out, but the whole yorozu sukuna thing.. rn it only makes sense to me but I’ll explain more in a bit i would like to note that Bachira can still control his body, it’s more like an itadori vessel type thing than how it actually was with tsumiki
Shidou
No cursed energy at all
uses cursed tools
known as the ‘sorcerer killer’
basically a hitman for hire
not technically part of rin’s group, but used to hover around them since rin gave him good assignments and paid him well
again, the second I started making this I knew 100% Shidou would be an antagonist. The only part that idk ab is the fact he’d willingly work with rin..
———
now, I don’t have a full plot in my head yet, but these are some pretty important facts that happen in this au (not in chronological order):
The Kyoto and Tokyo schools have an exchange event where the Kyoto students attempt to murder isagi, and the event is later crashed by curse users (rin’s group)
Shidou kills Kunigami (I’m sorry I’m sorry I love him but I had to)
Nanase is outed as a traitor/spy for rin (bros motto was ‘if you cant beat them, join them’)
with karasu’s help, hiori figures out how to do a domain expansion
Bachira (who has previously been fully devoted to rin, since he owed his life to him) meets isagi, and feels an instant bond with him, partially due to yorozu (who took the place of his ‘monster’ in this au) seeking out sukuna
isagi later convinced Bachira that he could reform, and join jujustu tech to live a happier life with him, and just as he’s about to accept, he’s killed by rin itoshi for betraying him. (Again, I’m sorry, but I had to. Think junpei itadori relationship. That’s what they are)
hiori (again, with karasu’s help) breaks away from his clan
————
some notes:
I didnt wanna add any nel players bcuz then it’d get too complicated (otherwise Lorenzo would’ve been the perfect sorcerer killer, bc ‘ace eater’ and everything..)
but I do not have any teachers for the Kyoto branch bc of this, and I’m contemplating changing the story a lil bit to have the Kyoto students possibly join the Tokyo school because of their teachers dying or smth?? I’m honestly not sure. there are a couple things I wanna add, but haven’t figured out yet, like nagi betraying (but not really betraying) reo somehow, chigiri witnessing kunigami’s death and fighting Shidou, and Shidou somehow meeting sae (im a ryusae kinda guy at heart)
I was planning to try to draw smth from this au, but I’ve had absolutely 0 motivation to do art lately if I missed smth important or if you have any questions or recommendations plsplspls lmk 🙏🙏

Family Formation - Part Eighteen
Tumblr media
A/N: a request from my dearest darling @psychicai to know more about the reader's relationship with the second years <3
CW: misogyny, lots of it, canon-typical violence, sexy times, mdni, dirty stuff (reader and gojo), fluff, soft gojo soft reader soft soft soft, swearing bc its me
Summary: Moments in your relationship with the second year's, because they're your kids too.
Tumblr media
“Satoru, you’ll continue with Hakari and Kirara this year –they seem to be flourishing under your tutelage. However, I expect a stop to being put to them playing hooky and their ‘extracurricular activities taking place in the storage room – so I expect both you and Y/N to refrain from doing the same. Y/N, you will be the lead for this year's first years.” Principal Yaga stood in front of you, Satoru, Shoko, Kusakabe, Ijichi and Akari at the beginning of the term meeting.
“Aw! Yaga they’re so cute though, how can I deny the blooming of such passionate young love when mine led me to marry this gorgeous gal beside me?! Plus, you didn’t care that much when it was third year me and Y/N in the spare theory classroom and you got a free period?!” Satoru rebukes and Yaga just rolls his eyes, you giggle into your husband's shoulder at the memories of your time as students.
“Anyway – Y/N, you have an interesting bunch this year. Of course, Panda will be one of your students as I’m sure you’re already aware. You will also have Maki Zen’in, daughter of Ogi Zen’in. She is… less than favoured by the clan as she is a non-sorcerer.” He says, passing you a file. Murmurs erupt at hearing this. You glance at Satoru – a Zen’in non-sorcerer. The last of those was…
“She is the elder of twin sisters. Her sister will be attending Kyoto, Mai has a cursed technique named construction and as they are twins – Maki received no cursed energy.”
“Wait, Yaga – are you saying what I think you’re saying?” You ask.
“Heavenly Restriction.” He finishes.
“Holy shit.” Interjects Shoko between puffs of her cigarette.
“A Zen’in, with Heavenly Restriction, estranged from her clan?” You summarise, glancing at your husband.
“The second coming of Toji Fushiguro,” Satoru says, smirking.
“Well. Fuck.” You rub the bridge of your nose. This kid could prove extraordinary. Also, your brain did the math and realised you’d be teaching Megumi’s cousin, maybe you could introduce them – as two defective Zen’ins.
“Fuck indeed. She’s got talent, she has immense potential, her ability to see curses has been gifted through cursed objects, she wears glasses which enable this ability.” He finishes.
“I think you will get along, Y/N. She has an intense distaste for the Zen’in clan and the patriarchy – but please, no more adopting children. You both are barely 25.” He smirks, knowing how you and Satoru are.
“Lastly, Toge Inumaki.” He hands you another file.
Your heart beats fast, an Inumaki?
A cursed speech user. The Inumaki clan was considered outlaws. The higher-ups considered the technique too dangerous and outlawed them. Your family had much the same treatment – the higher-ups of jujutsu society even though the women of your clan inherit stronger abilities, which only became worse after your great great great grandmother stood up to them and disavowed their ways. Your clan was outlawed from being one of the ‘big families’.
“How powerful is his cursed speech?” You ask.
“Surpassing any other user for generations. He can only communicate using rice ball ingredients.” Yaga adds.
You raise an eyebrow and a giggle as Satoru guffaws beside you at the only form of communication with this boy Onigiri.
“Iconic.” Satoru laughs.
“We love to see it.” You agree.
The first day came, and you stood at the gates, Panda already beside you. You’d known panda since, well, birth? Yaga had been your teacher too in school and you remained close through the years. You were delighted to have been trusted to teach someone who Yaga considered his son.
A tall girl with dark green hair, glasses and stern eyes exited a taxi in front of you – a rucksack and a duffel bag in hand.
“Maki?” You ask, smiling.
“That’s me. You’re Gojo-Sensei?” She responds, shaking your outstretched hand with a firm grip. This girl is strong and so much taller than you it’s funny.
“Well, depends on which of us you want. If you want Satoru, look for someone freakishly tall and with white hair, but chances are you’ll hear him before you see him. The six eyes are a giveaway too. Anyway, I’m Y/N [Clan Name] Gojo.” You respond.
“I’ve seen you at some social gatherings. The clan elders spoke a lot about you.” She added.
“All bad things, I hope?” You tease.
“You hope for a bad reputation?” Now you’ve piqued her curiosity. Little did you know, Maki was positively fangirling inside at meeting you, and realising you would be her sensei.
“If the Zen’in elders have good things to say about me, then I’m not raising enough hell at all.” You wink at her, and she smirks. She used to love hearing the stories of you giving shit to the elders, or sassing the old men who called you less than savoury names. She knew you and Gojo Satoru had adopted her cousin Toji’s son, Megumi to keep him away from the clan. She loved hearing how you and another woman, Yuki Tsukomo caused constant pain and strife to the patriarchy of society. Both special grade sorcerers, you from an outlawed clan and more powerful than any of the higher-ups with a fiery personality and temper to boot, and Yuki who was so independent that she wouldn’t even work with the higher-ups at all. If she could have had posters on her wall of you both, she would have. She even garnered more respect for Gojo Satoru, the lack of shits he’d given when the other family heads had raised hell over your relationship with him and all he said in return was ‘suck a dick, I’ll do what I want. I’m gonna marry this woman someday, and heavens help you if you try to stand in our way.”
“We’re just waiting on the final third year now, then I’ll do introductions.” You say as if on cue, a car pulls up and out hops a boy with a shock of white hair, so similar to Satoru’s hair in colour but far spikier, probably assisted by the high neck scarf around his face.
“Hi! Are you Toge?” You wave to him.
“Shake. Konbu.” He says, eyes a little shy but you can see a small smile.
You had asked for a glossary of his onigiri terms so you could learn them before he came, so you were able to communicate with him. You’d hate for him to feel alone.
“Amazing! We’re all here. Okay! I’m Y/N [Clan Name] Gojo, and I’ll be your sensei this year! This is Panda!” You say, gesturing beside you. Panda waves and both other students in for a hug. Toge reciprocates and Maki looks disgruntled. Is that face a Zen’in trait? You see it daily with Megumi at home.
“This is Maki.” You leave out her surname, unsure if she wants it known or not. She nods towards them both with a simple hello.
“And this is Toge!” You say patting him on the shoulder.
“Konbu.” He says waving his hand.
“Toge here is a cursed speech user, he uses Onigiri ingredients to talk which is iconic behaviour might I add. Here, I’ve printed out the translation for his words so you guys can all talk!” You see Toge give a wide small to you.
“Okay let’s get going. I’ll show you guys around and then to your dorms.” You lead them around campus, showing them the classrooms, the training field and other places of importance.
“And here is the infirmary, along with my best friend, Doctor Shoko Ieiri.” You gesture to the woman smoking a cigarette at her desk as she sorts through files.
“Hey kids, I’ll be doing all the sewing of your skin.” She smirks.
“Jesus Shoko, you could just say welcome.” You roll your eyes, and you can’t help a giggle at her.
As you leave the infirmary, you bump into another person.
“And this is Ijichi! He’s awesome and the school straight up couldn’t function without him. Anything you need, if you can’t get me – get Ijichi.” You say high-fiving the man, who introduces himself. You smile at how far he’s come, from the gangly underclassman in Nanami and Yu’s year to Assistant Director.
As you begin to walk the kids toward the dorm building to help them settle in, you fill them in on more details.
“We’ll start classes on Monday, so that gives you guys tonight and tomorrow to rest and settle in. I know it can be a lot. You’ll meet more people as we go along but I hope you guys are happy here. I went to school here too, I graduated 9 years ago and I have some of my favourite memories from here. That’s the great thing about this place is it’s not just school, it really can become your home. But seriously, if you guys need anything, like a new cursed tool or a ride to the mall for fresh socks then call me. Screw calling my work phone, here’s my number so whatever you guys need just text, and if you can’t get in touch with me then call –” You were interrupted by a loud voice.
“Her devoted husband who can’t stand a second away from her.” The voice, now identified as Satoru, says as his arms wrap around your waist as you turn to plant a kiss on his cheek.
“Hi‘Toru.” You say.
“Hi there, Princess.” He kisses the tip of your nose and you giggle at him.
“Kids, this is my husband and other sensei, Gojo Satoru. He’s gonna be with the second years mostly, but no doubt you’ll see him loads. We’re not formal people, so just call us Y/N and Gojo.” You say.
“Eh?! Speak for yourself. I demand to be called Gojo Satoru, his royal highness, the strongest sorcerer alive whenever you address me.” He says this with such finality the kids would think he was serious if you didn’t laugh and tell him to hush his nonsense.
“Thanks for the mochi yesterday, Gojos!” Says Panda.
“Weren’t they the best?!” You and Satoru excitedly begin chatting about the dessert shop you had found together recently as you led the kids to the dorms.
“I can’t believe that’s Gojo Satoru. The honoured one. He’s whipped for her. She’s crazy about him too, it’s gross - it’s like they’re still teenagers.” Maki leans into Toge and says.
“Okaka.” Says Toge, shaking his head – and making a heart shape with his hands and placing it around the two figures holding hands in front of him.
•••••
A few months had passed since the start of school, and you had been getting ever closer with your students. You had begun to speak to Toge through text a lot, so you could communicate freely, and you soon learned that when uninhibited he was hilarious. A sharp humour, and a kind heart to match – you became very attached to the boy. He had asked you about your clan, having heard you were also an outlaw clan.
Riceball: is it harder to be a sorcerer when you’re from a clan like one of ours?
Y/N: good morning to you too Toge Happy Saturday
Riceball: 🙄 these are the moments I remember why I ship u and Gojo
Y/N: to answer ur question, yeah.
Y/N: but also no. You face more obstacles bc the higher-ups will be determined to place as many roadblocks as possible in our way, but also u have more freedom. U aren’t as confined by feeling obligated to live by their rules – bc they’re the ones who kicked us out. They kinda fucked themselves over bc if u look at both our clans – they distanced themselves from two immensely powerful families who now ally with people like me and Satoru and u and Maki – people who wanna change Jujutsu society.
Riceball: I heard they gave u and Gojo MAD shit when u guys got together
Y/N: omg I’m famous
Y/N: but ye they did and even more when we adoptedMegumi, they tried to put legal blocks in place so we couldn’t adopt him but tbh I think they were too scared of Satoru to pursue it too far. They caused Satoru and me a lot of hurt and shit when we were in high school so there’s a lotta bad blood there.
Riceball: Suguru Geto, right? I remember my parents talking about you guys.
That one stung to read, you four were destined for greatness together. You promised your kids honesty, and the truth hurt.
Y/N: yeah, and lots of shit leading up to that. They tried to block me from getting into school, and wouldn’t give me missions for a while bc of who I was, the main thing is toge u can never stop fighting them bc the minute u give up u let them win
Y/N: and I’m sure as hell not raising u guys to be anything but badasses 🥰
Y/N: they won’t fuck with you whilst I’m around, Toge. Dw. Ur a strong sorcerer and a good kid, we won’t let them get in our way.
🤍
Panda was well, Panda. He’d never change. Fiercely loyal, protective, kind and caring. He was exactly the warmth the other two needed to have in their class.
•••••
When the day came that Maki’s initial grade assessment came through, all hell broke loose. You weren’t allowed to recommend her, as her Sensei – but Yaga had recommended her through your instruction with Satoru’s support as Grade Two. Only a few months into their first year, her physical prowess outweighed any of the other students – and you could see with experience and training, one day she would reach the level of her cousin, Toji.
So when the results came through as Maki Zen’in – Grade Four: you flipped your shit.
In the conference room with the elders – Satoru waited outside; they announced the grades.
“Excuse me?!” You stood, chair shrieking behind you and an unintended burst of vines erupting at your feet. Strong emotions caused that.
At the sound of you shouting, and the burst of your cursed energy – Satoru blasts through the door and immediately wraps you in his arms.
“I’m sorry?! Grade Four?! She’s at the very least three but a second grade?!” You slam your fist on the table, holding Satoru’s hand in your other. You squeezed, letting him know you were okay – just livid.
“Wait – she? Hang on – you old fuckers named Maki a grade four?” He added.
“It’s the Grade which suits the girl best.” One of the elders announced.
“No it isn’t, so cut the bullshit. We all know why this is, it’s because she’s failing the Zen’ins as their perfect woman isn’t she – no cursed energy, outspoken, strong? Or is it because of who she reminds you of? Is it because of the fact she reminds you of Toji? Hm? C’mon – spill.” Your body was shaking with rage, and Satoru knew you were right. She was being held back by the Zen’in clan – but if anyone could break through their shit, it was you. He’d be there if you need them.
“Mind your manners, Mrs Gojo.” One of the old men spoke up.
“Respect your elders, woman.” Said another.
“I am Mrs Gojo now – but don’t forget I was Y/N [Clan Name] first, you use my married name almost as an insult as if I should bow and take my place as a quiet wife now, I am married, do not forget who I married, I am the wife of the strongest sorcerer and myself a special grade sorcerer. I know the games you all play, and I know that Naobito had a hand in this, you can’t hide behind your desks forever.” Your eyes glared daggers through the men.
“Is that a threat, Mrs. Gojo?” The bearded chairman asked.
“No. It’s a goddamn promise.” You hissed as you turned on your heel out of the room, hand still intertwined with Satoru’s, and you slammed the door behind you.
You marched away to the building where your office was and as you went inside the door you felt yourself pushed unceremoniously against the wall of your office.
“Fucking hell, Princess. You’re incredible. That might have been the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen.” Satoru said, pinning your wrists beside you and assaulting your neck with his mouth. He ground his hips into yours, rock solid already beneath his neatly pressed slacks.his hands roamed around your shirt before slipping inside to flick at your pebbled nipple under your blue lace bra. He knew he was near the purple blooming bruises he had left with his mouth this morning before work on the swell of your breast and the thought of you wandering around, not only marked as his through marriage but physically made him slip his hand down to trace the hem of your panties under your skirt.
You whined into his shoulder, the adrenaline pumping through you adding to your already permanent horniness for your husband.
“Jesus fucking Christ do you two ever stop fucking?!” Drawled Shoko as you two left the restaurant bathroom looking slightly dishevelled.
“No! My husband is fucking hot so go away!” You reply, giggling, Satoru smirked knowing that you found him as irresistible as he did you – even 8 years into your relationship he still thought the fact you were about to sit for drinks with his cum still inside you, leaking onto your panties was overwhelmingly arousing.
You lace your hands through the hair at the base of his skull and lightly tug.
“‘Toru, please – no teasing.” You whimper into him, pressing your core down to try to relieve some pressure.
“What, my poor baby needs me to fuck the anger outta her? Tell me what you need Princess.” He smirks, lifting your legs around his waist and pushing your panties down so they drop on the floor.
“Sa-Satoru, please – need you now. Need your cock,‘Toru. Please – wanna feel you.”
“As you wish, Princess.”
You exited the room on slightly wobbly legs with your pretty hairstyle undone, and Satoru with a light pink lipstick stain on the slope of his throat and a smirk on his lips and a smile on your face.
•••••
That evening, you found Maki sparring with a training dummy on the field.
“Y/N, hi.” She said, taking a sip from her bottle.
You beckoned her to sit with you on the bench.
You were both silent for a moment.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t get them to change your grade, Maki.” You sigh.
“Thanks for even trying, Y/N. It’s the most anyone’s done for me.” She huffs.
“I hope you know Maki – it doesn’t reflect your skill level. I had Yaga recommend you for second grade, it was endorsed by Satoru and Nanami Kento too. I’m sure you are aware as to why the promotion was blocked.” There was no point in lying or sugarcoating with a young woman like Maki.
“I’m aware. Nobody ever said being a Zen’in woman would be easy.” She shrugged, kicking the dirt.
“And I’m sorry to tell you it won’t get easier. This world isn’t often kind to women, we have to work extra hard to be afforded the same graces and luxuries as our male counterparts, and the Zen’in clan are hardly known for their egalitarianism.” You roll your eyes, and she snorts a laugh.
“How did you do it? Gather respect?” She asks.
“Ha! Honey, I’m still fighting to be respected by the highe-ups. Shoko, Utahime, Mei Mei too – hell even Yuki and she’s my icon. I’m the first person in centuries to inherit my cursed technique, I’m a special grade sorcerer, the heir to the [Clan Name] and a teacher jujutsu high all in my own right – and added onto that I’m married to Gojo Satoru, I’ve raised your cousin Megumi and I’ll be the mother of the next Gojo heir, the adopted mother of the Zen’in heir, and the heir to my clan – and I still fight daily for basic respect from those old fucks.” You tell her.
“How is there any hope then?”
“They won’t live forever.” You smirk.
“But the next generation, from what I’ve seen there’s some who think the same – my cousin, Naoya for example.”
“Ah, dearest Naoya Zen’in.” You let out a breathy laugh.
“You know him?” Maki asks.
“Sadly. Do you remember he got a broken nose about 6 years ago? Looked hilarious, whined about it for months.” You turn to her, opening a candy bar from your bag.
“Yeah? Wait – was that you?” She smiled at this.
You nodded eagerly.
“He was being a dick, so I smacked him.”
“What was he doing?”
“He was bad-mouthing Satoru, then said that I was only with him to boost my name and be a ‘brood-mare’ for the Gojo heir.”
“So you smacked him?”
“I smacked him.”
“Then what happened.”
“I laughed, he cried, Satoru kissed me and we went home.”
“You’re a legend.”
“Why, thank you.”
Silence for a second.
“In all honesty, Maki, Satoru and I became teachers for reasons like this. I’m sure you’ve noticed that he and I, and our friends – we don’t quite abide by the rules. Years ago, when we were still in school, we lost our best friend because of a terrible, selfish plan concocted by the highe-ups. That and, well, my history.” You start.
Maki turns to you, unwilling to push for information but curious.
“My family – my clan, we’re outcasts from Jujutsu Society – still well respected by most except the elders but outcasts notheless. My family are a matriarchy, the women in my family inherit the stronger strains of our cursed techniques. My great, great, great, great grandmother was the last person to have helped my cursed technique and she stood up to the higher-ups of her era and they shunned her from society. We remained a prominent family due to our power and cursed energy levels, but we swore to protect and defend people and exorcise curses in our way, and not to follow what path they would choose for us. They would have had us be quiet women, meek and without agency. We are an ancient family, the oldest family – our blood is said to be that of ancient forest spirits. We bow to no man. The men of my family believe the same, none of us will be controlled or manipulated.”
She nodded for you to continue.
“So, when I was born, they had simultaneous heart attacks. The most powerful [Clan Name] in centuries and another woman. They tried to control me once I got to school, but – that didn’t last long. I was named special grade because there was no denying my ability, they couldn’t hide me. Then I became best friends with a cursed spirit manipulator, another special grade, Shoko – the most talented and powerful used of reversed cursed technique alive and then fell in love with the first user of the Six Eyes and Limitless in 600 years. I was their worst nightmare. They have tried and tried, and failed and failed – to put roadblocks in front of me the whole time. But I kept fighting, and now – I want to love, and care and nurture everyone I encounter, I want to spread warmth to everyone I know but – having those men, the higher-ups – the same ones who cause all of us pain and anguish, men and women, having them fear me, having them know my threats aren’t empty – thsatisfies me. If they won’t respect me, I have made them understand the danger of fucking with me or the people under my protection. Use your power, Maki. Use it for good, use it to protect. That’s what I’ve learned, and it’s the bravest thing you can do.”
•••••
The makeshift infirmary smelled so strongly of medical supplies your nose burned. You had come to have the slash on your back patched up. The boys all needed medical attention too, and you insisted on having you all in the same room, you were already half of yourself without him beside you. You wouldn’t run the risk of losing anyone else.
Inumaki – well, it took a lot of convincing to get Yuuji to even face him.
“His arm, Y/N, Megumi – I did that! It’s my fault!” He says, so softly and broken.
“Sweet boy, is your name Yuuji?” You ask him.
He nods, confused.
“Then you didn’t. The person who did that was Sukuna.” At this, Megumi, in shows of affection you’ve learned are reserved for Yuuji, wraps his arm around his boyfriend and whispers something in his ear that you can see visibly relaxed him. God, you’re so grateful that these two have each other. Such a pure love and it gives you so much hope.
Choso seems on edge, guilty almost. You drag him for a talk too, you feel like you’re reassuring everyone and you need that now. You need people to care for, to protect - that’s the driving force that’s keeping you from losing your mind.
When Inumaki wakes up, you’re beside him.
You wipe his hair back from his face and smile at him. He knew he’d lost his arm, and really – he was taking it surprisingly well. As well as one could hope. He shed tears, he was frustrated, he would need time, but he had Yuuta back beside him – and that seemed to help. You’d be there too, whenever he needed you.
Riceball: don’t need my arm to talk do I? And that’s like kinda my whole vibe  as long as I can talk so I can help u get ur man back Y/N-Sensei then we’re all g also can u tell Yuuji to stop crying into my blanket pls it’s snotty now
Maki, she took a few more days to wake up. Jogo’s flames had severely injured her. She had lost an eye and had severe burns across her body. She was in immense pain and seemed determined to leave despite this. Her hair had been sung badly, so after a while you offered to tidy it up for her – remove the burned bits and try to recover what you could.
After a few days, she leaves. There are cursed tools in the Zen’in warehouse, and she’s going to get them. You weren’t there when she left, but you were there when she returned.
She was carrying a mound of something; you couldn’t quite see – until she turned. She was carrying the body of her twin sister. Mai was dead, body slung over Maki’s shoulder, who then passed her to a sobbing Momo. Maki’s eyes were blank, devoid of anything. Grief, shock, anger – a lethal combination. Maki seemed different, she carried herself differently.
She was also, completely, covered in blood.
“Maki, fucking hell – what happened?” You rush to her.
“Mai is dead. The Zen’in Clan are gone, all of them.” She said, passing the key to what you assumed was a vault to Ijichi.
You just pulled her into you. It was brief, and she wouldn’t fall apart as others might. This was Maki, so similar to your Megumi – but so different.
You knew now the difference.
Her heavenly restriction had now reached, if not surpassed, that of Toji Fushiguro.
She was now a true force of nature.
••••••
“God, I didn’t miss this.” Maki fake gags as Yuuta laughs beside her. Inumaki shook his head beside them both and Panda on his back.
“Oh hush, Maki – when Nobara wakes up you’ll be no different.” You jest at her, and she rolls her eyes but pointedly doesn’t refute the claim.
They had walked in on you sitting on Gojo’s lap, you were both seemingly physically inseparable since he had been released from the prison realm. Your head on his shoulder, his arm snug around your waist.
“You’re all just jealous!” Satoru jibes at them, blowing a raspberry.
“Kids, go to bed. It’s late – the apartments next door are free. We love you alllllllll!” You shout after them.
“I didn’t have half this sass to deal with in the cube yaknow.” Satoru laughs into your shoulder, and you throw your head back laughing at him.
“And you wouldn’t miss it for the world, plus, that’s how the kids show their love - they’re teenagers after all.” You poke his cheek.
“Were we that bad?” He asks, kissing down your neck, arms wrapping under your legs and lifting you into your temporary room, neither of you would separate for even a moment in the few days since his release.
“Oh, ‘toru, we were wayyyyyy worse.” You say, realising that after 10 years – you are still the same teenagers in love today.

S2 : Chapter 4 - Exchange Event 1 ☆☆☆☆
༄                                    ༄                                 ༄
We all stood in the courtyard in front of the woods by our school. Today was the day. Butterflies invaded my stomach, my anxiety evident within a glance. Kugisaki took my hand and squeezed it as reassurance.
"You'll be amazing!" She told me softly, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. I rested my head on her shoulder, taking deep breaths to calm my heart.
Gojo walked up to us a little later, with a smile on his blindfolded face, accompanied by Principal Yaga, who looked less than pleased with him.
"Students! Are we ready?" He asked us as we all nodded.
"There are 7 of you, so we've assigned pairs for you to work in. We decided that the second-years would be fine to go on their own. As for the first years, we decided on Fushiguro and Okumoto as a pair, and Kugisaki and Itadori. Of course, if you have your own plans, go right ahead, but this is our recommendation." Principal Yaga announced, earning a giggle from everyone.
"We're being set up for failure here. Those two are NOT going to be exorcising curses." Maki whined, gesturing to me and Fushiguro.
Fushiguro flushed slightly before muttering something under his breath and crossing his arms.
"Alright, that's enough!" Gojo clapped his hands. "Now, go and prepare yourselves. You'll be expected to meet the Kyoto students in 30 minutes."
We all departed from the area. I picked up my usual fanny-pack, fastening it tightly onto my body.
Fushiguro appeared beside me. "I hope you don't mind working with me." He played with his sleeves, which made me laugh a little.
"Of course I don't." I told him, standing up fully after tying my shoe laces.
"It's just we've spent a lot of time together recently, so I hope you're not disappointed."
"It's starting to sound like you're the disappointed one." I teased, which caught him off guard.
"I-I'm not! I was just wondering, in case you wanted to switch partners or something. I'm sure you'd prefer to be with Kugisaki-" I cut his tangent off with a snicker.
"I was joking! People have said our cursed techniques work really well together, so I'm sure we'll be fine. And I like spending time with you anyway." I spoke, looking anywhere but his eyes.
He smiled softly. "Let's go. The others are probably waiting."
LATER
"What on earth..." I stood, completely bewildered. A muscular individual was staring Fushiguro down as if he wanted to kill him.
"Are these the Kyoto students?" I whispered to Kugisaki, to which she nodded.
"Fushiguro~ Nice to see you again!" A girl with deep green hair mewled, threatening to throw herself onto him.
"Mai, it's been a while." He responded calmly.
"Cold as always, huh? Can't expect much from a student at this trashy school." Mai remarked.
"Why are there two Maki's?" I asked Kugisaki again.
"That's her twin sister, Zenin Mai." She answered.
"Well, we can tell who the prettier twin is." I said quietly, or so I thought.
"What did you say, freak?" She stepped towards me. I stared her down, not allowing her to intimidate me.
"I said we can tell who the prettier twin is, and it's clearly not you."
"Watch that dirty mouth of yours. I could kill you right here if I wanted to." She threatened me with a smirk.
The atmosphere grew tense as I felt my fists tighten.
"Girl, I will wipe the floor clean with you." I said passively. I always avoided causing a scene, but she got on my last nerve.
"You won't do shit." She cursed as I reached my breaking point.
I stood there, shaking with rage. I raised my hand, the familiar gun shape present as I shot a beam of pH 4 acid at her.
It wasn't extremely corrosive, but it was enough to do a little damage. It landed on her clothes, burning a hole through the dress she wore.
"You bitch!" She screamed, lunging towards me. She landed a punch on my face. Blood spurted from my lip as it busted open. I went to return the favour, tackling her to the ground and landing punch after punch, slap after slap.
As I straddled her, I felt two pairs of hands grab onto me, pulling me up.
I turned around to see Gojo and Fushiguro pulling me off of her.
"Let me go!" I attempted to fight them off of me, but their hold was too strong.
I eventually gave in, letting them pull me up.
"Seiko, no fighting yet!" Gojo scolded me, only earning a snarky scoff from me in return.
"I'm putting you in time out for now." He pointed to a corner, ordering me to go there.
"You're not serious." I looked at him blankly, my face still pounding as his hand remained in that direction.
I rolled my eyes, walking over to the corner and taking a seat, my back facing everyone else. I rested my fave on my palm, letting out a huff as I played with the broken staircase I sat on.

"Hey, you!" A boy from the Kyoto school called out to me.
Todo Aoi. Third year and first-grade sorcerer.
I hummed in response. He stuck his colossal finger out at me, pointing towards me.
"What kind of woman is your type?" He asked, a completely serious expression cast on his face.
I squinted my eyes and tilted my head slightly at his question.
"What?" I asked, completely confused.
"You heard me. What kind of woman is your type?" He repeated in the same tone.
"Is this a comedy act?" I asked him as I stood in the empty hallway.
"This determines if you die at the exchange event today or not!" He roared, the depth of his voice scaring me.
"Listen here, Fushiguro. I went out of my way to ask nicely. If you don't reply, I'll kill you right now." Todo spoke. "By the way, my type is a tall girl with a big ass!"
I was even more shocked as I searched my being for an answer.
"I guess... I don't really have a specific type." I began to speak. "If one's character is unshakeable, that's the least I'll ask for." I took a deep breath.
Todo's eyes pricked with tears.
"But." I continued, causing him to halt. "Given a choice, my type right now is kind of tall girls with pretty eyes... and... nice lips." I answered his question, earning a satisfied look.
He began to cry, placing his hand on my shoulder. "You've done well, my brother!" He embraced me. I cringed away from his hug, only making him bring me closer.
"Let me go, please." I said plainly.
"You're my best friend now! I can't let you go. " Todo led me away into the distance.

seiko lore drop
the usui family is well enough known among jujutsushi as a cursed - tool wielding family, they have their own arsenal of tools at their residence and seiko was allowed to pick from the collection at 15. the bo staff they wield belonged to their aunt 7 generations ago
seiko’s cursed tool works in tandem with their technique. their technique is dubbed ‘slice n dice’ as per the usage of the tool they are attached to to further the technique, but without the tool seiko can still land a physical hit/kick on an opponent and perform up to 4 additional hits provided they can envision them on the body
current generation of jujutsushi within their family consists of their great great aunt (she’s hanging on by a thread), their grandmother, their aunt and uncle (twins, heads of the jujutsushi side of the family as current), seiko, 2 cousins on their uncles side, a nephew from their brother’s family (+ a distant cousin that they don’t see). there are distant relations that do not consider themselves affiliated
they are the middle child (26) between two twin sisters (younger, 22) and their brother (older, 32, about to inherit the usui technological business that the non jujutsushi side of the family owns + runs)
seiko was raised by their aunt and uncle within the separate family residence from the ages of 7-14 before attending kyoto tech
the two sides of the family coexist together, but have separate roles. it is likely seiko will take over as head for the jujutsushi side of the family once their aunt and uncle step down. for now they’re happy working full time as a sorcerer and part time as a volleyball coach
nepo baby of sorts :)
graduated from kyoto tech as a semi grade 1 encroaching grade 1 with potential :)
there they are for u … art belongs to yemsao

(disclaimer: this is all fanart and fanmade and my OCs aren’t canon to TMNT or rottmnt)
Emily Mochizuki (エミリー 望月) is a teenage girl with short blonde hair, best friends with April and a dark secret past.
Emily grew up in Japan, Kyoto with no father, she was raised by her mother Kayda leader of the Dragon clan.
Emily wasn't fond of her classmates due to being Hāfu (half Japanese-half American in her situation)
Being raised in the dragon clan, she was homeschooled and taught Kuji Kuri, Taijutsu, Shurikenjutsu, Kenjutsu, Sōjutsu, Bōjutsu, and Ninjutsu.
The teachings were brutal and Fierce, almost to the point of abuse.
Emily was one of the few Kunoichi including her mother.
All Emily's life she was taught discipline, concentration, caring for others was a sign of weakness, and yōkai (mutants) were enemies.
Emily couldn't see that, however, they weren't hurting anyone and the yōkai had normal lives just like humans...so how could they be our enemies?
Emily had thought they were doing good for humanity, she thought her mother held justice and morals but it was all a façade...
Her life was a lie, her mother, her goals, they weren't doing good with humanity.
They were killing innocent people yōkai or not, her mother was evil, selfish and only cared for herself.
Emily couldn't kill anyone, nonetheless a helpless yōkai child.
At the age of thirteen, Emily abandoned her clan and fled her homeland.
With a few deals, she managed to get to New York City where her estranged aunt and uncle lived.
Her arrival was not expected, as Katsuki and Haru did not know having a niece.
Katsuki, her aunt was an identical twin to Kayda.
Her aunt was the exact opposite of her mother, she was a chubby woman who owned a tea shop, sweet, kind, and caring towards others and her children.
When Emily introduced herself and told her situation, Katsuki wasn't surprised at her sister's manipulation tactics but shocked at how Emily was treated.
Katsuki left that life behind much like Emily, she was willing to have Emily live in her household and knew she loved America and her cousins.
Who knows maybe she'll make some friends...
At the start of freshman year, Emily was really nervous about meeting people nonetheless talking to other kids she didn't know.
Her cousins often teased her but mainly her eldest cousin, Asuka.
"weird", "loser", and "noob" were little words for fun to tease her even though Emily had no idea what half of that meant.
Since Emily only knew Japanese she was taking English in school.
She ended up befriending April O'Neil when they bumped into each other on the first day of school.
Emily was really shy but managed to talk to April and asked if she could help her around the school building for directions.
Emily is a love interest and best friend to Leonardo, Emily has a HUGE crush on Leo, they don’t act on their feelings til late season 2 & movie.
{…}
However, as for Gwen Aguirre she is a Hispanic teenage girl and a online friend of Donnie and only appears in late season 1 & season 2
She lives in New York with her parents brothers and sister, not much is known about her.
Gwen is a hipster, gamer girl, comic book geek and has a long history of toxic ex boyfriends and girlfriend.
Gwen is a love interest for Donnie but doesn’t get with him at least til mid season 2
Facts: originally Emily was going to Hispanic, an alternative version of Irma, April’s friend from (1987) version and she was going to be a damsel in distress instead of a female ninja with a dark past.
I did the opposite of turtles having a crush on a human girl like April, on other media plat forms of TMNT. Instead it’s Emily who has a crush on her mutant turtle friend Leo and honestly it’s cute 🥰
Gwen is basically Ramona flowers from Scott pilgrim vs the world ;) dyes her hair every other day

Okay but. Thinking more about Junk Co. having a magazine (I blame @princescar for this)—
The idea that every editor, every writer is a Junko.
Like - that's the brand. They're all Junko.
And you have Junko Enoshima, the head writer/editor/whatever she wants to call herself, and maybe Junko Matsuda (who no one can ever find because it's definitely not Yasuke), and maybe Junko...oh, I don't know, Junko Mioda to go into punk fashion.
Kind of like mods for groups are sometimes Mod [insert name here].
Or even the Junkos aren't named with their actual name but by their location - so Junko Enoshima, Junko Kamakura, Junko Tokyo, Junko Kyoto, Junko Yawata - all fashionistas to a certain extent, with particular fashion specifics.
Enoshima's the head because it's her company, but she's also the established authority on gyaru fashion, so it covers both of her Ultimate names.
But also means that everyone on campus would absolutely know that Junko Enoshima is not her real name, that it's just the name associated with her and her brand, even though she might never take that act off around any of them.
Also explains why Ryoko in particular would get so sequestered. Her classmates and friends understand that Enoshima wouldn't want them to know her true identity underneath everything, that even if she did, she wouldn't want them to find out this way, so they stay away out of respect for her insane amount of privacy regarding that.
Also would have the revelation of Mukuro being her twin sister as a BIG DEAL even early on because Enoshima never talks about her private life like that.
...this, however, does mean that the canon thh question of why Junko and Mukuro don't have the same last name no longer fits, so.

Hi once again!!😅🥰 Can I please request a Tangerine x fem!reader where she’s Tangerine’s gf, like a sister to Lemon, and she’s their partner? The three of them are really close.🥺🧡🍊💛🍋 She is also a mutant who can create and control the elements + her eyes and hair change color when she’s creating/controlling the different elements (Like blue with water/ice, red with fire, green with Earth, and idk what color for air). She doesn’t have to carry a weapon (although Tangerine has most definitely taught her how to use one, along with hand-to-hand combat…) Also she tends to make it out of missions mostly unscathed, unlike Lemon and Tangerine who tend to get kinda beat up, mostly because people can’t really get close enough to Y/n to get a hit in Like the three of them going on the Bullet Train job, Lemon and Tangerine looking gradually more and more ragged, especially at the end, but Y/n looking like nothing has happened 😂 Also Y/n saving Tan with her powers from accidentally being shot by Ladybug, as well as fighting the White Death’s men (alongside Tan, Lem, The Son, Ladybug, and The Father)… Ladybug would so be like, “OH MY GOSH, WHAT IS HAPPENING” when she attacks him with her powers to save Tan and also fight the bad guys 😂
hiii! I kind of used jean grey as inspo😭 I feel like the ending might be rushed, but I hope it’s okay. thank you for requesting, hope you like it 💌

Over the years you have been on countless missions with the twins and collectively built quite a reputation. But, what many people don’t know, is that you are actually a mutant. You don’t like to show people your powers and you don’t often use them. The twins knew about them, but for the most part, you liked to hide them. Usually wearing gloves as a way to block your powers from escaping your hands.
When you were a teenager you had involuntary experiments on you, ultimately they unlocked a special gene that granted you superhuman abilities. You used to feel embarrassed about your powers, but when you met the twins, you quickly learned not to be ashamed of them.
So now, you loved them. You loved the way you could control the elements and how your eyes and hair would change accordingly.
For the better part of missions, you’d fight with fists and weapons and you would only use your powers when absolutely necessary- sometimes it felt like cheating, just because it was too easy to defeat the enemy.
Your favourite power was fire, just as it was the coolest; you’d embody it and beautiful waves of orange and red would radiate from your whole body. The other elements were just as cool, air manipulation was another one of your favourites. You could create large gusts of air from your hands. These were usually the powers that were most useful during assignments.
You were usually pretty lucky during missions, you’d often come out looking the same as when you went in. Your hair would still be as pretty as when you started, and unlike the twins who would be battered and bruised- you were not.
Cutting forward to today, your mission was to escort The Son and ransom money to Kyoto, where they would be collected from The White Death. Everything had gone tits up during this assignment, it started when a guy stole the briefcase, but you later learned that his name is Ladybug and he is a bit of an idiot. There was also a woman who tried to kill The White Death’s son, luckily you had managed to stop it as you were petrified of The Son getting killed in your possession. Who knows what his dad would do?
You had been running around the train constantly, trying to keep tabs on everyone and who they were fighting against. Rushing around the carriages trying to maintain the chaos, but then you spot Tangerine in between a face-off against the young woman from earlier, holding her at gunpoint. You trusted your boyfriend’s judgement, so you knew that she probably deserved it. Watching idly by to keep an eye out.
The case snatcher from earlier walked into the carriage, making incoherent conversation between Tangerine and The Prince. You didn’t like how this was going so you decided to interject. Without thinking, ripping your gloves off to direct a large gust of air at Ladybug’s hand, knocking the gun from his grip.
Rushing over to your boyfriend's side. “Oh my goodness, what happened?” You anxiously gush, checking over his bloody face.
“That twat pushed me off the train.” Spitting towards the very confused guy.
“OH MY GOD- WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?”
“Shut up one second.” Holding a hand towards Ladybug. “Where’s Lemon? I thought he was with you?”
“She killed him.”
No.
Wrapping your hand around Tangerine’s head to bring him closer to you, stroking over the back of his neck as his face borrowed further into your neck.
“You killed him?!” You retort, glaring at the girl as your eyes began glowing deep orange.
“What- no- no. I would never. The guy that kidnapped me did it- he did it. Please-?”
“Enough.” You snap, holding Tan closer. Right now you felt like a protective mother bear and desperately wanted to defend your family. “Where is his body?” You sadly ask.
“Uh- in… in the toilets.”
“Hey? Tan, I want to say goodbye to him.” Brushing down his back. “You’re both coming too.” You scoff, pointing a finger towards them.
Your heart shattered when The Prince opened the door, looking down at Lemon covered in blood. You hated to think of the pain he was in before he died.
Suddenly Lemon’s mouth widens as he lets out the loudest yawn. You and Tan fall to your knees to hug your partner, holding him tight.
“Oh, you had the water.” Ladybug says from behind.
“We thought you were dead.” You and Tangerine say simultaneously, checking over Lemons's face.
“No. But that bitch shot me.”
A groaning comes from beside Lemon and you see the guy from earlier doubled over in pain.
“She’s crazy.” He groans.
But when you turn around you see that she had completely vanished, turning your attention back to Lemon to help him up.
“The White Death is coming, we got to sort a plan out.” Ladybug says flustered as he paced.
The five of you re-enter the carriage to discuss a potential plan, but then you see an older gentleman sitting next to your seats.
“Yuchi.” The man says sweetly, looking at the guy next to you.
“Father.”
//
You all had about five minutes to discuss some sort of plan to win against this Russian nutjob.
You had leant that the gentleman goes by the name of The Elder and he is also the father of Yuchi.
As you were all patching each other up, you decided that you wanted to consider mentioning your enhanced abilities, thinking that you’d surely win against The White Death.
“I know how to win against him.” You quietly say to the group. “Wait a second- where’s the kid gone?” Another thought interrupting your original one. “Actually no, I don’t care right now. I think I can beat The White Death.”
“How?” Yuchi mumbles as he reaches for the bandages.
“I’ll need all of you. ALL of you.” Looking between the twins. “To get to the far end of the train, yeah… and get off- and leave.”
“We’re not leaving you.” Lemon interjects.
“How will you beat The White Death?” Yuchi asks.
“I just can, okay. We’re nearly at Kyoto, so you gotta go.” Ushering the group away.
“It’s freaky, man… she can move stuff with her mind.” Ladybug whispers to Yuchi.
“You’re in charge, get everyone as far as possible.” You tell Tangerine, kissing him sweetly. “Chop chop.”
Hugging the twins once more before they left.
That’s him?
Train coming to a halt at Kyoto station, you see a guy sitting on the bench with many guards scattered around him. You kind of felt out of your depth right now.
You were trying to think of a strategic way to wipe out everyone, also without causing harm to everything else around you. You could set every one on fire? But that might make the trains explode. Or you could manipulate the ground so that they can fall in? But that might not work and would probably ruin cities.
You wanted to take out the easy ones first, hiding as you direct orbs of air at his pawns, sending them flying. Doing the same thing to several more, knocking them down and out of the way.
Looking over you see your team creeping in, they were sneaking up to attack them from behind. You wanted to keep the enemy's eyes forward, so you walk out onto the station glowing dark orange as you levitate; allowing your team the perfect opportunity to strike.
During the plan discussion, The Elder had told you all what The White Death had done to his family, so you knew that it should be him to take out his old ‘friend’.
Turning your attention towards the minions, taking them out with beams of air from your hands. Watching over the twins, making sure they don’t get themselves hurt, occasionally knocking out the ones that got too close to them.
Everyone else was down, it was just a matter of taking out The White Death- for good. The rest of your team rush over to help The Elder, keeping The White Death still as his arms got sliced off. It was pretty graphic, but luckily you have seen much worse.
The Elder makes one last incision to his throat, sending The White Death’s head rolling along the floor.
It was revolting, but finally, you had won. Running over to Lemon and Tangerine, quickly wrapping them in a tight hug. “You were meant to go.”
“Too bad, love. Not getting rid of us that easy…We’re taking that money and putting it all on red.” Tangerine says triumphantly.
“Fuck yeah we will.”
“Good job guys, but I don’t ever wanna see you again.” Looking at the other guys who were sitting on the bench, clearly exhausted.
Tan laces his hand into yours as you walk off, the three of you strolling side by side into the Kyoto sunrise. You didn’t even want to look at the mess behind, you just wanted to get the hell out of there. You were just glad that your family weren’t hurt.

Ever since she had told you the story of her past with Toji Zenin — who apparently had gone by Toji Fushiguro by the time of his death, hence how she had recognized that he was Megumi’s father — you and your mother had been closer than before. You were still nothing like what a typical mother and daughter should’ve been like, but you laughed at her jokes and helped her cook when you had a spare moment, and she listened to your problems and offered comforting words when you grew too upset about them.
It was nice, having a mother. You had never understood the extent of what the L/Ns had stolen from you until you got it back, and now you wished more than anything that you were a different girl, that your mother married a different man, that the two of you could’ve had something close to happiness in your youths. But it had not happened in that way, and so your only consolation was the one year you had had at the school, the year where everyone had been there, when you, Panda, Toge, Tullia, Maki, and Yuta all studied together and went on dumb missions together and made fun of Gojo together and did everything, really, but all together.
Things would never be like that again. Tullia was dead. Toge had lost his arm. You could only use Composition. Maki had slaughtered her entire clan in exchange for the murder of her twin sister. Yuta was a special grade sorcerer of his own merits instead of just Rika’s strength. Panda’s brother, sister, and father were gone. None of you were who you used to be. None of you would ever smile and laugh like that again. Even if you one day got over everything somehow — time would heal all wounds or something like that, according to proverbial wisdom, even though you’d place your bets on Composition over time any day — you would never be able to return to the innocence of your schooldays.
The first to return from the Culling Games were Noritoshi and Elakshi. Noritoshi had cut his hair after getting exiled from his clan, but Elakshi looked much the same, albeit with a few more scars on her face, most notably a lash mark running down the side of her cheek.
“It’s fine,” she said when you rushed to her side to try and help her. “You can leave it. I’ll wear this kind of scar with pride; it’s a scar of victory, not defeat, so I’m alright with not erasing it.”
“Doesn’t it hurt?” you said. She shook her head.
“Not anymore. Luckily, Noritoshi has some first aid skills, so we were able to patch it up with some good old bandages,” she said, tapping the scar for emphasis. “Really, it’s not a problem. I always forget it’s there.”
“That’s good. What about you, Noritoshi?” you said.
“I’m alright as well,” he said. “Thank you, though.”
Around the start of the Culling Games, when the higher ups were sending out their execution orders and whatnot, the Kamo clan had found a new leader and promptly exiled the bastard-born Noritoshi. That was why they hadn’t spoken in your favor when your execution was on the table — you were tied to a man they didn’t even care about anymore, so what use were you to them? Staying in the higher ups’ good graces far outweighed that, and anyways everyone knew at that point that the L/Ns had disowned you. Or, at least, they had until you came back and took over the clan, but that had happened later, so it wasn’t a concern of theirs when your death was on the table.
“It’s strange,” Noritoshi said upon finding out that you were the new head of the L/N clan. “We’ve reversed roles entirely. You’re the clan head, and I’m an outlaw. You’re the one with all of the prestige, and I’m nobody.”
“That’s true,” you said. “But I wouldn’t say you’re nobody. You’re still Noritoshi Kamo, for better or for worse, and even if you aren’t the heir to your clan anymore, that’s still worth something.”
“Maybe so,” he said.
“Not maybe. It is so, and as the head of the L/N clan, I can say that with certainty. Oh! And by the way, also as the head of the L/N clan, I’d like to decree that we are no longer engaged. Please feel free to marry who you’d like, and do not begrudge me for doing the same,” you said, motioning towards Elakshi, who was now busily telling Ijichi a story. Judging by how frequently she kept pointing to her cheek, it was the tale of how she had gotten her scar, and it must’ve been gruesome, considering Ijichi was quite literally quaking as she spoke.
Noritoshi smiled fondly at her. In all of the years you two had been engaged, this was an expression he had never worn around you. It was because you and he were only friends, but he cared for Elakshi in a different way, a way that made your heart settle, the knowledge that he was happy bringing you your own happiness as well.
“Thank you, Y/N,” he said.
“Be kind to her, and I’m sure she’ll be kind to you,” you said.
“I intend to do just that,” he said. “Though Elakshi’s not the type to put up with anything but the best treatment. Not anymore.”
“Good on you for raising her standards!” you said, clapping him on his muscular shoulder.
“I don’t think it was me,” he said. “It was someone else. She saw a boy love a girl so deeply and wholly that she vowed then and there to never settle for any less, or so she’s said.”
“Huh? What, on TV or something?” you said.
“You, dumbass,” he said. “Seeing how Yuta acts with you is what changed her mind. I’m inclined to agree with her, too. The way he loves you, the way you love him…that’s definitely the kind of thing that would raise one’s standards.”
You didn’t even try to deny it. You didn’t have to anymore. Now that you were the head of the L/Ns and Noritoshi had been exiled and your engagement was nothing but a memory, you didn’t have to hide anything anymore.
“If anyone can meet those standards, it’s you,” you said. “You’re a good man, Noritoshi.”
“Thanks, Y/N,” he said. “We’re still friends?”
“Of course,” you said firmly. “That’s never changed.”
The next ones back were Panda, Hakari, Kirara, and a tall man with electric eyes and pale hair. Panda was tiny now, the size of a dog instead of his typical lumbering form, and you immediately swept him into your arms the moment you saw him.
“My poor Panda,” you said, stroking the soft fur of his forehead, scratching the scruff of his neck the way you’d do with a pet. “Hakari, how could you let this happen?”
“Don’t blame Kin,” Kirara said, standing in front of Hakari and looking comically small compared to his bulk. “It’s Panda’s own fault for picking a fight with someone so much stronger than him!”
“Actually, I didn’t really pick the fight,” Panda said, eyes closing as you rubbed behind his ears. “He did.”
The man standing awkwardly beside Hakari nodded proudly at this, which was definitely a little strange, given what Panda was saying.
“I did do that,” he said. “He was too weak for it to really be considered a proper fight, though.”
You squinted at him. “Have we met before or something? You seem familiar, for some reason.”
“Dunno,” he said. “Maybe. It’s not like I pay attention to everyone I meet and keep a catalog of them in my mind or anything.”
“Probably not, Y/N,” Hakari interrupted. “Kashimo’s one of the reincarnated sorcerers, so he’s been dead for about four hundred years. There’s no way you two would have run into one another.”
“It’s most likely Gojo,” Panda said. “Don’t you see the similarity? They both have light hair and bright eyes. I thought they might be related or something when I first saw him, too, but apparently it’s just a coincidence.”
“Oh, yeah, you’re right,” you said. Now that Panda mentioned it, there was a startling resemblance between Kashimo and Gojo. “Sorry for the confusion.”
“I don’t really care,” Kashimo said. “I don’t even know who Gojo is, but that’s as good of an explanation as any.”
“Anyways!” Hakari said, leaning over and plucking Panda from your arms, handing him to Kirara and then resting his hands on your shoulders. You scowled at him, which he ignored completely. “Have you thought about what I asked you?”
“Usually, when you start speaking, I stop paying attention,” you said. “That is to say, I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“You really mean that?” he said.
“Uh, yeah,” you said. “You’re kind of weird, Hakari.”
“I’m talking about your fever! What do you burn for? Don’t you remember when we talked about that? That’s what I want to know!” he said.
“Ah, maybe you shouldn’t phrase it like that, Kin,” Kirara said with a wince.
“What do you mean?” Hakari said. Kirara pointed at the literal burn scars on your neck and hands, along with the unamused expression on your face.
“I think she, um, actually burnt for something…” they said. Hakari turned bright red before clearing his throat and turning away. It was a rare thing to see Hakari embarrassed, so it cheered you immensely — to the point that you were not even annoyed anymore.
“Right, against the special-grade volcano curse, Jogo,” you said. “That’s when I got these. In Shibuya — an incident which I remember the two of you being conspicuously absent from.”
“We didn’t know!” Kirara said.
“The higher ups didn’t bother to inform us, or else we would’ve been there. We may not like doing work or anything, but we wouldn’t have left you and Gojo and all to your fates for no reason,” Hakari added.
“I’m not blaming you,” you said. “It was just an observation. That’s all.”
The next was Yuta himself, and you abandoned the others as soon as his foot crossed the door. Although you no longer had your cursed signature detection, you could still sense that it was him, knew it somewhere deeper than even your soul. The presence which once had felt so malevolent was now your greatest companion, and he had barely stepped inside before you were launching yourself at him. He dropped his sword and caught you just in time, spinning you around and then setting you gently on the ground beside him.
“I’m glad you’re back,” you said. “The whole time you were gone, I was so worried…”
“I know,” he said. “Would you believe it if I said I worried about you, too?”
“No. I wasn’t even doing anything dangerous, so what cause was there to worry?” you said.
“When you aren’t with me, I worry. I can’t help it; even if I know you’re safe, I worry about you. It’s because I think of you so much — worry is just a natural consequence of it,” he said.
“You’re the one that was in a dangerous death match,” you said. “I wish I could give some romantic explanation for why I was afraid, but it really was just a fear that something would happen to you and I wouldn’t be there in time to stop it. Speaking of which, are you okay? Do you need to be healed at all?”
“I have a Reverse Cursed Technique too, you know,” he reminded you. “It’s nothing as impressive as Composition when it comes to being used on other people, of course, but it’s perfectly functional on myself.”
“Like you said, it’s nothing like Composition, which means I won’t feel at ease until you allow me to use that on you,” you said.
“Nothing will come of it but exhaustion on your part,” he said.
“It’s okay. Now that I don’t use Dissection anymore, I can use Composition without being drained immediately. There’s no problem,” you said, cradling his face in your hands, massaging his jaw with nimble fingers. “Composition.”
True to his word, Yuta was not at all injured, and the Reverse Cursed Technique washed over him with little effect. He stayed perfectly still, though, eyes closed as he allowed you to check every millimeter of his body with Composition. Only when you could be absolutely sure that there was nothing wrong with him did you release the Reverse Cursed Technique and press a kiss to the tip of his nose.
“All good?” he said knowingly.
“All good,” you agreed. “My dear, brave Yuta. Thank you for coming back to me alright.”
“I missed you the whole time I was gone,” he said. “I knew you would be in more danger if you were by my side, but I couldn’t help wishing you were with me anyways. My only consolation was that I’d get to see you again when I returned, so I kept fighting to that end. Even if I wasn’t alright, even if I was hurt, even if I had to crawl…I’d have come back to you. No matter my condition, I will come back.”
You leaned in to kiss him, but right as your lips were about to brush, there was an ear-splitting shriek. The two of you jumped apart, turning to find Hakari standing there, pale-faced, Kirara beside him with their hands on their cheeks.
“It’s like that between you two?” Kirara said.
“Oh my god,” Hakari said. “Y/N! You’re dating the creepy guy? Why would you do that?”
“Hakari,” you said through gritted teeth. “You should consider yourself very lucky I gave up fighting.”
“I’m not that creepy, am I?” Yuta said, patting his arms with a small frown. You shook your head in the negative even as Hakari and Kirara nodded.
“Not at all,” you said.
“Yes,” Kirara said.
“Absolutely, man,” Hakari said.
“Hakari!”
Maki and Itadori were the next to come, the door slamming open as they sprinted in, carrying a wounded girl in between them. Her arm had been cut off somehow, and blood dripped profusely from the wound, leaving a trail behind her as Itadori breathlessly set her down on a hospital bed.
“Who is this?” you said.
“Hana Kurusu. She’s the vessel for the Angel — the one who can unseal Gojo,” he said. “You have to heal her!”
“What happened?” you said, though immediately afterwards, you activated your Reverse Cursed Technique with a murmur of “Composition.”
The dark energy circulating around Kurusu’s injury made your stomach turn. You knew immediately that this kind of wound could only be made by one being, and that frightened you more. The cursed energy was spreading from the wound and overtaking her entire essence, and sweat poured from your brow as you methodically destroyed it, the procedure taking even more effort because of the lingering potential that the energy had.
“Sukuna,” Itadori said, though it wasn’t like he really needed to explain anymore, not now that you had come in contact with it.
“Is it hard to keep control of him now that you’ve eaten so many fingers?” you said. “Also, where’s Megumi? He’s the only one that hasn’t come back yet.”
“It’s not like that,” Maki said as you finished removing the last of Sukuna’s residual energy. “It wasn’t in Itadori’s body that he did all this. He’s found a new vessel now.”
“A new vessel? How?” you said, preparing yourself to regenerate the arm, which would be immensely difficult given the being who had cut it off.
“He made a Binding Vow with me. That’s how I was able to live after the detention center incident. In exchange for regrowing my heart, he could use a chant that would give him control of my body for one minute — although, he wasn’t allowed to harm anybody else during that time,” Itadori said.
“Okay,” you said, the tendons and bones of Kurusu’s arm beginning to take shape.
“That didn’t include him,” Maki said. “Sukuna ripped his own finger off and force fed it to—”
“The new vessel,” you completed. “I see how it happened. Well, who is it?”
“Fushiguro,” Itadori said miserably. “He took Fushiguro.”
Instinctively, you canceled Composition, the arm falling away into nothingness, leaving Kurusu with nothing but a healed stump off of her shoulder.
“Megumi?” you said. “What do you mean by that?”
“Y/N, her arm,” Maki reminded you. You ignored her, Kurusu’s well-being fading into an afterthought in your mind. All you could do was try to fathom what they had just revealed to you. Megumi was Sukuna’s vessel now. It wasn’t enough that he had taken Tullia from you. He was taking Megumi, your Megumi, your constantly snitching, stupidly sacrificial, serious little underclassman, the one who always asked for your advice and complained about Gojo with you. Sukuna was taking that boy, too.
“Why?” you choked out. “Why does he keep doing this?”
“I’m sorry,” Itadori said. “It’s my fault.”
“He’s stealing everyone,” you said hollowly. “He can’t kill me, so he’ll destroy every single person I love. He’ll make it so that I don’t want to live at all, and only then will he be able to find some pleasure in denying me death.”
“That’s not entirely the case,” Maki protested. “He must be interested in Megumi for other reasons, too.”
“Of course he is,” you said, returning to Kurusu’s arm, even though you knew by now it was too late, that her fragile body could not handle it if you forced it to regenerate an entire limb once more. “But this only makes it better. He gets what he wants out of Megumi and tortures me in the same breath. Who will it be next?”
You glanced at Maki and immediately wished you hadn’t. You didn’t want to think about it like that, didn’t even want to put those thoughts into the world. If Sukuna took her from you, too, if you had to watch her die, if, after everything, you lost Maki as well, then you wouldn’t be able to go on.
Kurusu soon woke up, and you apologized as much as you could about the fact that she still did not have her arm. She did not complain, explaining to you how she had lost it in the first place, how she had fallen for Sukuna’s trick, and then hanging her head.
“If only I wasn’t so stupid, you’d still have your friend,” she said. Itadori and Maki were silent, but you smiled as best you could at her. Her green eyes and bright hair reminded you of someone else, and you could never hate that person, so you could never hate her, either — not that you would’ve in the first place.
“I don’t blame you,” you said. Her lower lip trembled, and her eyes swam with tears as she hesitantly peeked up at you. You patted her on the head. “If it were me, I might’ve made the same mistake. How were you supposed to know? How can we blame you for something Sukunadid? If not that, then he would’ve pulled something else. He took advantage of you and your affection for Megumi, and that’s how things ended up in this way, but you’re not at fault. Sukuna is.”
“Why are you being so nice to me?” she said, and then she really was crying. You offered her a handkerchief, and she blew her nose in it with a great honk. “You don’t even know me! I lost you your friend, so why are you being nice to me?”
“You know, it’s a little reassuring that even angels can make mistakes, just like humans can,” you said. “Don’t worry. We’ll get him back, and then you can talk to him, and everything will be fine. We won’t let Sukuna win this time. But can you promise me one thing in exchange for my forgiveness?”
“What?” she said.
“For the moment, please forget about him. From now on, we must — we must act as if Megumi Fushiguro is someone who is dead.”
As everyone made the preparations to unseal Gojo, there was a palpable feeling of loss in the air. With every moment that passed, you found yourself wanting to make some joke with Tullia or exchange incredulous looks with Megumi whenever someone did something stupid. You wanted to introduce Nobara to your mother and discuss things with Nanami and learn more from Yuki Tsukumo, who you had learnt had fallen in a fight against Kenjaku. But none of those people were here anymore. You would never get to do any of those things again.
You weren’t the only one who was impacted. Itadori was the worst off; he had lost his two best friends, after all, the two people who were supposed to always be by his side. They were gone now, leaving him alone, and even though Choso and, surprisingly, Elakshi did their best, it was never quite enough for the boy to regain the old sparkle in his eyes.
Toge and Panda, once the comedic duo that could always be counted on to make everyone laugh, were quiet more often than not. What cause did Toge have to make jokes when he had lost the girl he loved? What cause did Panda have to mess around when his creator was dead and he had lost his sibling cores? There was nothing of the sort, so they both tended to sit by one another in silence, their old friendship one of the only things they had left at this point. Sometimes Yuta would sit with them, too, but everything was different for him, less raw and immediate, so more often than not he stayed with you and left them to their mourning.
You tried to spend as much time as you could with Kurusu. Yuta followed you everywhere, as did Maki, so although neither of them put the same effort into befriending her that you did, they ended up becoming a little fond of her as well. But you did what you could to be kind to her — you understood what it was like to be lonely, to feel ostracized, and so you endeavored to be to her what Gojo and Maki had been to you. To this end, you only had Elakshi’s aid; she had become something of a philanthropist in recent times, reaching out to whoever she could in the attempt to provide some slim kindness despite never having shown much interest in the pursuit before.
One time, while Yuta was taking a well deserved nap and Maki was cleaning her sword, you somehow found yourself roped into a conversation with Hakari, Kirara, and Hajime Kashimo — who didn’t really seem to like the previous two, either, but knew no one else and thus had to stick around with them or be on the whole glared at for what he had done to Panda.
“Y/N,” Hakari began while you were making some soup for Maki, who would never ask for it but had been hinting for a while that she wanted some. You weren’t sure when the trio had entered the kitchen, but at some point they must’ve, as all of them were standing there and staring at you.
“Hakari,” you said, stirring the contents of the pot. “What is it? Are you all hungry or something? Because you can cook for yourself, you know.”
“That’s not it,” Kirara said. “Actually, it’s like this: we realized that since Kashimo is from the Edo period—”
“Oh, right!” you said, interrupting them and turning to Kashimo. “You’re essentially a living piece of history! What was it like back then? Did you know any of my relatives? What was your favorite food, and does it still exist today? How different is modern society from the one you lived in? I mean, of course we’re much more technologically advanced, but the inherent structures of classism and sexism, are those still the same? I would hope not, but you never know. No society is ever as progressive as it claims to be.”
“I don’t know what a lot of those words mean,” Kashimo said. “What is ‘sexism?’”
“Don’t worry, I didn’t really get most of that either,” Hakari admitted. He regularly ranked at the bottom in terms of grades across both schools, though, whereas you were tied with Todo for the top position, so this was not a surprise.
“You really don’t know what sexism is, Hakari? That’s a little disappointing,” you said.
“Of course I do!” he said. “It’s when you think women are stupid and useless. The rest of it, however, was a little beyond me.”
“Um, sure, that’s close enough,” you said, having learnt long ago that explaining things requiring “nuance” to Hakari was a waste of time.
“I don’t think just women are stupid or useless,” Kashimo offered. “I think everyone who’s weak can be considered as such. The gender is unimportant.”
“He’s not sexist!” Hakari said. He and Kirara broke out in a round of applause. You massaged your temples before turning the stove down so the soup could simmer for a bit, once again finding no point in further explanation.
“Okay,” you said. “What about my other questions? And by the way, I wasn’t asking him if he was sexist. I was talking about the typical power dynamics of his era.”
“What does that mean?” Kirara said. They were smarter than Hakari, but not by much, and spending time with the latter had definitely made them even dumber than you remembered.
“I was the most powerful,” Kashimo said. “That’s what you were wanting to know, right?”
“No!” you said. “Forget about it. What about the L/Ns? Did you know any of them in your time?”
“L/Ns?” Kashimo said, furrowing his brow. “Oh, yeah, the healers. I remember them. Never met any, though — none of them could fight, so I had no cause to. I do think one of their daughters married one of the Gojos at some point or something. I believe his name was Hisashi? I’m not sure. I beat him in a fight once, but that’s the extent of my knowledge of him.”
“I guess you probably weren’t invited to the wedding,” you said.
“I was not,” he affirmed. You sighed.
“That’s to be expected. Well, anyways, can you tell me anything about the past?” you said.
“The people…were not very strong?” he said.
“Forget about it,” you said. “Thanks for trying.”
“Now that that’s over with and like I was saying before you interrupted me, we’re going to feed him sour Skittles!” Kirara said.
“Why?” you said.
“We want to see how his body reacts,” Hakari explained. “Will the flavors fry his tongue? Will the food coloring destroy his brain activity? We just have to know!”
“I didn’t think you were much for experimentation,” you said. “Also, how’d you get him to agree to it?”
“They used to call me the god of lightning!” Kashimo said passionately as you turned off the stove and poured the soup into a container for Maki. “I will not be defeated by some colored sweets!”
“Uh-huh,” you said. “Well, you all have fun with that. I will be somewhere far away, not partaking in the festivities.”
“We’ll miss you!” Hakari said.
“Not really!” Kirara said.
“Let us get on with the challenge!” Kashimo declared as you pulled a spoon out of the drawer and left the kitchen with the soup in your hands, the door shutting behind you just as Kashimo cried out in surprise, “What the hell is this? Why are the edges of my tongue curling? Answer me, gambling boy! What have you fed me?”
It had been a migraine of a conversation, but a part of you was thankful for it. Hakari and Kirara were the same as always, and on the one hand it felt irreverent to be joking around when you had lost so much, but on the other, it was a relief to just argue with your upperclassmen as if nothing was wrong, as if this was just another day at the school and there were no stakes and nothing on the line.
When you finally deemed Kurusu recovered enough to attempt to unseal Gojo, you all began to set up for the unsealing. You couldn’t bear to watch, standing behind Yuta and using his fingers as a blindfold so that you didn’t have to see.
“Are you okay?” he said when you had first taken his hand and pressed it over your eyes, holding onto his wrist for support, your thumb resting on his pulse point for reassurance.
“What if something goes wrong? What if he’s gotten hurt in there? What if unsealing him does something to him? I already had to — with Tullia — I can’t — not again. I can’t again,” you said. The words you could not say even now were on the tip of your tongue, but Yuta did not force you to utter them. Instead, he leaned to kiss you, taking them from you at his mercy and without any effort on your part, his one hand still shielding you from the world, the other gripping the curve of your waist and digging into the flesh like a tether.
“This is Gojo we’re talking about. Our teacher, the strongest sorcerer of the modern era. Do you really think something as simple as getting unsealed will be enough to take him out?” he said when he pulled away.
“Well, probably not,” you said.
“Right,” he said. “So don’t fret. Don’t you want to see him when he comes?”
“Yes,” you said reluctantly. “I miss him so much.”
“Then you should probably open your eyes,” he said, letting his hand slide away, stroking your cheek as he did so. You did as he suggested but did not dare look at where Kurusu was getting ready to use Angel’s technique on the Prison Realm.
“Do you mean to say that you aren’t scared?” you said.
“Actually, I’m terrified,” he confessed. “But for you, I’ll be strong. You’re the one who taught me how to be like that, so in return I’ll do my best.”
“You don’t have to,” you said. “It’s okay for us to both be afraid together.”
“Let’s be brave instead,” he said. “That’s the better way.”
For some reason, Hakari had been given the go ahead to count down. You had protested, claiming he probably couldn’t even count to three, but you had been told that you were “letting your biases color your words” and that “Hakari wasn’t that stupid” — which was patently untrue, in your opinion — so overall, you had gone largely ignored.
“Three, two, one!” Hakari shouted triumphantly. “Go!”
This time, you squinted because of the brilliance of Angel’s technique as it struck the Prison Realm. Yuta stood in front of you when he noticed, his broad body deflecting most of the light, ensuring that no harm befell you. Even though you didn’t necessarily need his protection to this extent, you knew it brought him some peace of mind to take care of you, so you never complained about it.
“Where is he?” you said when the dust settled and the earth stopped shaking and there was nothing there at all. “Kurusu? Where is he?”
“Did you kill Gojo?” Itadori screeched, his hands in his hair and his expression one of a shock so extreme that it would almost be comical if you did not share the emotion.
“Wow,” Kashimo observed. “What kind of strongest sorcerer dies so quickly?”
“Don’t worry, Itadori,” Choso said with that weighty voice of his that always made things sound a bit more palatable. “He’s not gone.”
“Choso is right,” Elakshi said from where she and Noritoshi were crouching behind a road sign. “The balance of the world’s energy would’ve shifted dramatically if he died.”
“We would’ve felt it,” Noritoshi said. “Y/N, try using your — never mind.”
Cursed signature detection. He was going to ask you to use that in order to figure out where Gojo was, but that was no longer a tool you had at your disposal. You had never felt its loss as acutely as now, when you could only shake your head and show him your empty hands mournfully.
“What do we do now?” Itadori said.
“I’m sorry,” Kurusu said, landing beside you. “I messed up again, didn’t I? I really thought I did it right this time.”
Before any of you could say anything, a heavy presence electrified the air with its sheer power, making your ears pop from the pressure it exuded. You held your breath, not daring to hope until you saw him before you.
The air shimmered, and then Satoru Gojo winked into existence, looking the same as always, his too-bright smile sharp like a set of knives, his diamond eyes glinting as he regarded all of you.
“Is that him?” Kurusu said. For a second, nobody moved, and then you beamed so hard that your cheeks ached.
“Gojo!” you said. “Gojo!”
It was when you embraced him that you realized you had never been alone, not truly. He had always been there. Gojo, your teacher, your brother, he had been there for as long as you could remember. In his own way, he had loved you, and that was the one thing the L/Ns had not managed to deprive you of, could not deprive you of.
“Hey, Y/N,” he said, messing with your hair as you held onto him, his Infinity turned off for you as always. “You go through a growth spurt or something? You seem a little different.”
“I’m the head of the L/N clan now,” you said, close to tears. “Does that count?”
“Gojo’s here!” Itadori whooped. “Guys, it’s Gojo! Kurusu didn’t kill him!”
“I didn’t?” Kurusu said. “Oh, yay!”
“Thank goodness,” Elakshi said. “I was actually getting a little concerned for a second there.”
“Now that we know he can come back out, can we seal him for just a little longer?” Utahime said. “I was really enjoying my time without him. It was better than a paid vacation with complementary drinks.”
“Head of the L/N clan?” Gojo said, paying the others no mind. “Nice job. I expected nothing less of my former student. I taught you well, huh?”
“Maybe a little,” you said. “I really missed you, by the way.”
“Oh, don’t be so sentimental! You’ll make me all weepy in front of everyone, and then I’ll lose my notoriety as the ice-cold strongest,” he said. “Now! We have a lot to do and not a lot of time to do it, so enough with the welcoming party! Let’s get to work.”
“Of course, you’re back to business as usual,” you said as he addressed everyone with a stern, professional tone he rarely if ever used.
“You all will need to fill me in about just what is going on at the moment,” Gojo said. “Then, we all need to start training — we have about a month to reach our peaks as sorcerers.”
“What are you talking about?” Noritoshi said.
“I’ll explain later. Y/N, you, Yuji, and Yuta are in charge of giving me the rundown,” Gojo said.
“Sounds good,” you said.
“Maki, please start coming up with training regimens for all willing fighters,” Gojo said. “Hakari, you help her with that.”
“Whatever you say,” Hakari said.
“It’s not a problem,” Maki said, always a little more charitable when it came to Hakari than you were.
“Utahime, please call Mei Mei back from wherever she is; we’ll need her and her brother’s help, most likely,” he said. Utahime did not argue, always willing to put aside her personal feelings when it came to her job.
“Shoko, please organize the L/N healers into effective units and get them used to coordinating with one another,” Gojo continued. “Ah, with Y/N’s permission, naturally.”
“Of course,” you said, still a bit bemused at how brutally efficient he was after being unsealed. “Tell them you’re acting on my authority, and if any of them give you trouble, send them my way. They should listen, though; all of them are still a little nervous when it comes to me.”
“The L/Ns never did have much of a backbone,” Ieri said wryly. “No worries. I’ll take care of them.”
“And the most important order of business!” he said. Everyone waited with bated breath, wondering what could be more important than everything he had already assigned, and who would get that role. “Mrs. L/N!”
“Er, me?” your mother said, pointing at herself. Gojo nodded, and then he batted his eyelashes at her, as if he were a schoolboy asking for a new toy or something.
“Can you please make cookies for me? I’m a little hungry,” he said.
“Oh, goodness,” your mother said. “You are as spoiled as ever. Yes, I can do that.”
“Alright!” he cheered. “Come on, then, you three. Start catching me up while we wait for those bad boys to bake.”
You, Itadori, and Yuta glanced at one another and then simultaneously decided not to question it. It was obviously some kind of coping mechanism, and besides, he didn’t even know what had happened recently, so he could not be blamed for his flippant attitude at all.
“Where should we start?” Yuta said.
“From the beginning,” Gojo said. “That moment I got sealed. What happened right after that?”
So the three of you summed up everything for Gojo, and for the first time since Shibuya, it did not feel quite so hopeless. For the first time, you thought you might even have a chance at winning, at making it out with the few of you that were still left intact. In that golden moment, with the smell of cookies wafting in the air and Gojo in front of you and Yuta at your side, you thought something which you hadn’t since Tullia had died: that maybe happiness was not such an impossible ideal after all, that maybe all of you could someday soon attain it.

Finished! Score in a few days - I have a friend I've been talking about these with every week and I kinda wanna talk to him first. He's not choosing my score or anything, but I think the back-and-forth will help me get my thoughts in order and decide where to leave it. Because as it stands I think I'm between 6 and 7 - and 6 sounds low after all the praise I've given (and am about to give) but then part of me wonders if it isn't just that I'm surprised how much it improved over the first season, like if that surprise factor isn't the main reason I'd want to score it a 7. We'll see where I end up with.
Anyway, good last episode. It had an extra 5 minutes in length which really benefited it, because it meant we got to see quite a lot of plot points and character moments come to nice resolutions with wiggle room for cute scenes as well. Felt really fucking bad for the twins though man, the dead one's corpse being puppeted around by Gates was fucked up, and the sister not being strong enough to even enact revenge and going down in seconds actually made me upset. We get to see Kaname restore Sousuke's faith in himself more or less, that was pretty nice, although honestly I could've done with at least less of the slapstick. The ensuing fight between Sousuke and all the Venoms is pretty dope, I haven't spoken about it much but yeah no KyoAni mecha action is really good lol. The final setpiece is really sick - Gates in his own Venom is holding another AS hostage, and Sousuke charges up this insanely sick looking punch, stops right in front of the hostage, and then Lambda Driver fuckin makes the punch go through the hostage completely safe. It's absolutely dope as shit. A level of excitement I never thought this series could offer me. Just really good all around.
And then yeah, Sousuke's back in action, knows what he wants, and all the villains are dead. Couple scenes of various emotional catharses, Sousuke's still staying with Mithril because we wouldn't have much of a show otherwise but he lays down the law, has the full support of Tessa, her moe anime waifu scene here is actually earned because she's been a character up to this point, it's all just pretty good. If I can be honest I was actually thinking about watching Invisible Victory and I still might - but Second Raid so neatly wrapping up most of its stuff makes me think I'll be fine even if I don't. It's really just Tessa's brother that's a variable here, but we'll see what I decide to do.
But yeah, that's me done. Mostly. I'll watch the OVA tomorrow. That was definitely good - I don't think I have too much to say that isn't just spread throughout the other posts I've made, but I mostly had fun here. The series takes itself seriously and has pretty strong plotting and lots of good character moments, which is all you can really ask for. Villains weren't great this time around, I didn't really talk about him ever but I don't think I liked Gates at all, him jacking it to small animals is almost too bizarre an inclusion for the series, but hey. Craziest thing I can say by far is that I am largely endeared to the characters now, which was an unfathomable concept to me back when I finished the first season. Even Fumoffu only got me liking Sousuke, Kaname and the like still pissed me off. Actually being able to point to the characters and say "yeah I liked them" goes so hard. I think I'll call that the end of the post. Like I said, OVA tomorrow, Invisible Victory is a maybe, and then uhhh I mean that's it. Although as one final sidenote, the OVA is the last Kyoto Animation thing for me. Insane.

Translation of Excerpt from jjk 0 Novelize version : the Battle of Kyoto Students
(Been asked about this for a few times by now, sorry for the lateness but I just finally got time to translate and deliver this. This part is written right after Nanami's part here. Hope you enjoy)
. . .
Tumblr media
. . .
At the same time, in a different street separated from Nanami, young sorcerers are hit by an ambush attack.
It’s the counterpart to Tokyo school, the other school for jujutsu.
In that place, you can find students of Kyoto Jujutsu Technical College.
Kicking the wall, jumping as he threads through the small gaps between buildings, Kamo Noritoshi glances at the sight below him with narrow eyes.
From one of the three Great Clans, he is the legitimate heir of Kamo clan. He shows the full extent of the “Blood Manipulation” technique that he uses in this widespread urban fighting.
.
—He sees it.
From the bow that he grasps, Kamo faces towards the curse spirits on the ground and releases several arrows at once.
With the technique that manipulates his own blood, he can freely manipulate the trajectory of the arrows using the blood that he stuck to the arrowheads. Just like a missile, the arrows flying in fluctuating trajectory pierce the curse spirits one after another, and exorcise them. Kamo excels in battle where he can take advantage of higher ground.
As they try to escape from arrows raining down overhead, the curse spirits who fled to the alley are strategically trapped by the tactic of Kyoto students.
“Shin Kageryuu. Simple Domain—"
It's on of the students of Kyoto branch, Miwa Kasumi.
The real value of the sword technique Shin Kageryuu that she performs using her sword is to swiftly take down enemies as she lying in wait to ambush them.
With 2.21-meter radius, the Simple Domain is a restricted technique that only taught to bloodline since the Heian era. All things that stepped in there are slashed down by the blade that accelerated by curse energy from within the sheath of her sword, the fastest strike of Shin Kageryuu.
—“Battou”
The divine speed of the slash cut down the entire group of curse spirits.
Kamo’s arrows narrow the course of the curse spirits, so they are driven to Miwa’s “Simple Domain”, which have awaited them. This tactic is very effective in the city of Kyoto where the routes are easy to control.
“…Fuuh.”
This time also, their collaborative effort successfully destroys the herd of curse spirits. However that relief only last for a moment, as Miwa is caught off-guard.
Their strategy is to use the street of Kyoto which built like a grid, which is why Miwa is not alert against curse spirits that comes from within the building itself.
“Guh!”
A new flock of curse spirits approach from the wall in the right side. Miwa who has just performed “Battou” can’t react.
However, the curse spirits can’t lay their hands on Miwa.
“—Ultra Canon.”
A flash of light runs through the street of Kyoto and annihilate the curse spirits approaching Miwa.
“Be alert, Miwa.”
“Mechamaru!”
Ultimate Mechamaru. It’s somewhat of a quirky name, however he is really a jujutsu sorcerer affiliated with Kyoto school. The body which looks like a robot is actually a puppet that he can control, in the stead of his real body that can’t move freely. The earlier attack comes from large barrel mounted in his right hand.
However, just after Mechamaru comes to help, soon the situation changes.
“Mechamaru! Above!”
At the moment when Miwa shouts, a new group of curse spirits descends from the rooftop of building.
But before Mechamaru can react, another bullet comes from different direction and shot down the curse spirits accurately.
“You too.”
As she shakes the muzzle of her gun that still smoking, Zenin Mai looks at Mechamaru and laughing.
A daughter of “Zenin clan” who belongs to Kyoto school. She is also Maki’s twin sister.
Then Kamo joins his friends and confirms of their safety.
“Everyone, keep alert!”
“Kamo-kun!”
Just as he advises them, Kamo’s ears catch a voice with good—more like bad—timing. The echo of the voice just like when you put earphone without its cushion.
The source of communication is a female student who plays the role to navigate them with a flying broom in the sky, Nishimiya Momo. She is important key to ensure the success of their tactic that make use Kyoto terrains.
“—From the direction of two o’clock, seven curse spirits.”
“Roger that. Where did Toudou goes?”
In response to Kamo, Nishimiya looks around from above. What she looks for is a very problematic child among the students of Kyoto school.
“Ah!”
In the wide street, finding just one student seems to be quite difficult.
As she thinks to lower her altitude to search better, suddenly in front of Nishimiya’s eyes, a rooftop of building explodes with a flash.
Miwa reports to Kamo what she just has seen.
“We’ll find him soon.”
“Huh?”
Just shortly after that response, from above the head of Kamo and the other students, the figure of a large muscular man falls down. In both of his hands, he each hold a curse spirit whose neck has been broken.
Toudou Aoi. He, in a way, is the most famous student from Kyoto school.
“Where have you been, Toudou—”
As Kamo begins to say his complain, suddenly the Kyoto students become stiff due to the strange presence.
From behind the shadow of a building, a curse spirit like a giant appears.
It is not only huge. The intimidation it emits is clearly different from the other curse spirits.
.
“Wh-what’s with this curse energy…”
It’s no wonder that Kamo is surprised. Just like Miguel who uses special-grade curse tools being deployed to Tokyo in order to suppress Gojou Satoru, some key forces are also sent to Kyoto.
And this is one of them. A huge special-grade curse spirit.
While hunting for other curse spirits, Toudou acted alone. And now, he appears here too because of the presence of the special-grade curse spirit.
The Kyoto branch students are stunned.
However, Toudou stands in its way and intercepts the special-grade curse spirit. He is very reckless.
“It’s dangerous, Toudou! Don’t fight it alone! I will get support—”
“The talkshow at eight PM, special Christmas program—Takada-chan will appear!”
But the answer that Toudou gives is this.
“…”
“I can’t be stuck forever in this place!”
The Kyoto students is tied up. However Toudou is being serious, he is frantic.
The “oshi” of Toudou is a tall idol who sells her height of 180 cm, Takada-chan. For Toudou whose type is tall women with huge ass, she is the idol that embodies his very ideal.
And she will appear in the golden time talkshow. On top of that, it’s a live broadcast. Without saying, he will of course record it. However, if you don’t watch it live, then it’s not a live broadcast.
So Toudou runs. It’s not a matter about the fate of the world, the future of the jujutsu sorcerers, or even Getou’s idea.
If you want to do something. If you need something. If you wish for something. For those reason, what you should do.
—At this moment, so he can watch the live program of his “oshi”.
That is the reason why Toudou Aoi fights, here and now.
“Toudou!!”
Of course, Kamo doesn’t understand that reason. Naturally, he tries to stop Toudou, but his ears receive another contact from Nishimiya.
“Kamo-kun! From the direction of six o’clock, more than ten curse spirits are getting near!”
“Kuh… Everyone, attack to intercept!”
He is still concerned about Toudou, but he can’t afford to ignore the approaching curse spirits. Well, until he can watch the live program of his oshi, whatever happens, Toudou surely won’t die. With a certain kind of trust, the Kyoto students once again prepare to take action.
“There’s no end to them. When will this all ends…”
However, it’s no surprise that Mai complains.
The more curse spirits they exorcise, more of them will spring up. No matter how efficiently they fight, there’s limit for the resource of jujutsu sorcerers. The damage they cause is not small and the number of victims steadily increase.
In the dark mud of struggle, as they fight the ambush attack, in the Hyakki Yakou with ending unseen, the jujutsu sorcerers burn the life that they still hold and face their enemies.
And so, the victory or defeat shall soon be decided of this fight that they don’t know when will end, in a place far from Kyoto—in the Tokyo Jujutsu Technical College.

SPOOKYYYYY!
I Need Explainationsssss!!!
Why is it that in your recent top fav jjk character, I didn’t see a certain Zenin Twin?!
Have You Forsaken that Mai Nation?! I thought you were an Ally!!! Oh the horrors!!!
How could you?!
I’m not actually being serious btw, I can tell that making that list way already a lot so ya probably didn’t have time to add her. Understandable
Tumblr media
Haha, anon I understand! I have said before that Mai and Miwa are the two best written female characters in Jujutsu Kaisen. Mai is probably my favorite character to write - the potential a character like Mai has because of interesting subtext surrounding the character and because they are one of the few complex "bad" victims in the manga is different is different from the way they're written in the story.
When I call a character my favorite character, it's because of their character arc in the story. I believe Mai is an emotionally complex character, but if you look at her appearances in the story, she shows up once and is important in the Kyoto Battle arc and then in the next major scene she is in she dies. There's no arc there, we just skipped from point A to point B. While I enjoy Mai's character there's no much of it, we have her introduction scene against Nobara, her fight scene with Maki, and then her death and she doesn't really progress or change as a character across those three scenes.
When I say Mai is my favorite character to write, and not my favorite in Jujutsu Kaisen I don't even necessarily mean on a fanon vs. canon level. A character can be complex and have a lot of interesting ideas going for them, and still be underutilized in the story itself. The implication of Mai as a CSA victim. The complex victimhood she exhibits because despite being a victim alongside Maki, she's nasty, she doesn't want to fight to get better like all of Gojo's kids, instead of being strong and determined she's cowardly and wants to give up easy. She blames everyone else around her instead of herself.
A lot of those complex ideas are there, but does the story do anything with them?
This is a topic I discuss with @theanimepsychologist a lot. Jujutsu Kaisen tends to have themes and ideas that work on a subtextual level, but the story itself does not do a good job of writing them in a compelling way. For example, when I talk about the potential Mai represents as a character that made me fall in love with her:
Mai is set up as a person experiencing a different but equally valid victimhood and response to victimhood as Maki, being her twin sister who endured the abuse in the Zen'in Clan along with her. While Maki strives to be stronger than her abusers, Mai doesn't want to try hard to be better than them and cares more about staying together with her sister than proving herself as a sorcerer.
Maki is strong and independent, but it comes at the cost of sacrificing her relationship with Mai the only person who unconditionally loves her to try to prove herself to her family for the sake of her own pride. However, at the same time Maki feels like there's no other way she could have done this because if she stayed with the Zen'in she would have hated herself, the way her family always taught her too.
At the same time Mai loves her sister and wants to be loved in return, and Maki in several ways not only abandoned her sister but treats her like an afterthought, not really caring about Mai's friends, not really understanding Mai's feelings, and not communicating with her.
It is not Mai nor Maki's fault really, but their family who has created this conflict between the sisters and pitted them against each other. Both of them mourn the innocent youth they once had when they thought they were always going to stay together. When Maki was happy to protect her sister from the curses all around her she was afraid of, because Mai wasn't a burden at the time.
That is a potential story there where the two sisters coming together, shows that love can break the cycle of abuse, and the conflict in their relationship that was created not by them but by their family.
However, Maki and Mai never learn to understand each other. They never grow or develop their relationship from where it was at the start of the story.
Instead what happens is Mai commits suicide in a tragic fashion, beliving that it's all her fault Maki was weak all along and she was noting more than a burden (which the story seems to agree with, invaldiating Mai's complexity as a "bad" victim that was supposed to be deconstructed) and then instead of breaking the cycle of violence that created Maki she just continues it.
The story tries to present Mai sacrificing hreself as some kind of moment where the sisters have finally come together, it's an act of sisterly love that gave Maki the strength she needed to finally fight back against the Zen'in but that's the thing... they're not together! They didn't learn to understand each other. They didn't grow or solve or change or fix the conflict of their relationship. Mai just died and Maki got a new sword.
Which is why every moment that the manga tries to sell as Maki's character growth from now on feels kind of flat, because Maki was challenged to learn to understand her sister and work together with her and see her as a person and she never did that. She was supposed to free herself from the cycle of violence through love, but she just chose more violence.
The themes are there, both sisters coming together to unlock Maki's true strength and how Maki never needed to be strong on her own but needed to learn to fight with her sister...! That's there!
The way the story tells those themes though is just uncompelling, and they cut the potential of a great character short. Is Mai a good character? Yes. She's complex and her emotions are realistic and nuanced. Is Mai written as a good character in the context of Jujutsu Kaisen?
No way. It's not even the fact that she dies, my favorite characters of all time are Gwen Stacy and Terra Markov and they both die. However, those characters were destined to die. They were dead at the start of the story. Mai was set up to live alongside her sister and grow up with her, and grow closer together and then she just died.
So in conclusion, a good character =/= a good character arc.
