got my grades back for my courses last semester and most of it was to be expected, mostly A's, maybe an A-, etc. but i honestly can't get over the fact that my independent study (the buddy cole documentary) was for some reason given a B. like sure getting a B isn't bad per se, I usually get at least one B every semester and i honestly don't really care about what my exact gpa is as long as i can graduate, but come on. this school put me through months of psychological torment over this project and didn't even have the nerve to give me a B+??? i'm still coping with the self-doubt they forced on me and this bullshit is not helping!!

Happy Weekend! Speaking of, I heard that you talked about Nishiki Areku a lot and I’m quite surprised there isn’t a review about his art from you just yet!

So, is it ok to ask your opinion on Nishiki Areku's art, if the FEH Artist Opinion ask is still there?

LMAO I APOLOGIZE, I TALK TO MUCH ABOUT NISHIKI AREKU BUT HOT DAMN I JUST LOVE THEIR ART. It's part of having the 'Tism.

It's been a while since I've done an artist review so for anyone new here, I review artists based on posework, colorwork (shading, lighting, color stuff), expressions, anatomy, and the range of characters they've drawn. They're up there with Argon in terms of being my favorite artist to see.

Nishiki Areku's drawn Resplendent Alm, Seiros, Ingrid, Niime, Summer Dimitri, Bertram, Jeralt, New Year's Askr, and Duessel. And I just... love their art so much, just adore it. They've drawn such a HUGE range of characters in age, gender, builds, etc.

They're probably one of the most versatile artists in terms of age range, besides Kozaki Yusuke of course (given he was the artist for Awakening and Fates). One of the things I like about their art is how detailed they draw their faces, giving them defined noses instead of little dots or lines. The materials are detailed too, the worn metal of Jeralt's armor (and the new shiny metal of Alm's armor), the folds of fabric for Niime's outfit, it's great. And the anatomy doesn't look funky or anything, it looks appropriate for each character.

OH, AND THEIR POSES:

The poses are so strong, forward-driving, powerful. And just as a side note, I love their expressions! Especially how Seiros gets dragon eyes. And gosh I love Askr's happy smile (And Embla looks gorgeous too).

I WILL say there's one or two criticisms I have with their art, though one is more specific to a singular character and the other does have to do with all their art.

Alm. I truly do love their work for Resplendent Alm, the colors, the action, the details. But Alm is so... baby-faced. He doesn't look like he's seventeen, he looks like he's twelve or thirteen years old. I think it was just a slip-up on their part, because we've seen them draw Dimitri accurately and he's the same age as Alm at the start of 3H.

The colors that they choose to color the inside of the characters' mouths is super dark, and it's a tiny bit distracting. Askr, Dimitri and Seiros look fine, but on Jeralt, Alm, and kind of Niime it sticks out. It seems like the colors they use for the mouths fluctuates. I think part of it has to do with the skin-tone of the characters clashing with the mouth colors.

Those are super super minor issues though, because the artwork overall still slaps. Nishiki Areku's easily a 10/10 of an artist and I want them to draw Shura, Reina, Miklan, or Alois.

So Twitter is burning quite spectacularly. But DON'T PANIC. I drew this to be an eye catcher over on the bluebird so I could list my other social media accounts in a thread. Hopefully it works. *waves to new folk!* The site's not down for the count yet so I kinda feel like I'm doing the equivalent of pulling up a lawn chair to watch the neighbor's house burn and take bets on whether they'll put the fire out before the structure collapses.

i don't involve myself in the "how dare scorsese say that comic book movies aren't high cinema" because he's just unambiguously right (and i say that as someone who enjoys comics and liked watching the batman) but the funniest part of all the people trying desperately to refute him with "chris nolan directed batman movies" is that a) he was allowed to keep his own style and distinction which is a Big sticking point in the discussion of how fucking bland mcu stuff looks right now and b) nolan's batman movies are good as movies, but they absolutely fucking suck as batman movies specifically so the whole point is kinda moot anyway

Man, I love Tumblr. I don't know if it's just my fyp and you all are dissolving in chaos around me, but I can get some actual peace here.

Which is weird because this is Tumblr. Aren't we supposed to be the place where chaos is... chaosing? We should all come together and do evil.

So you see, all other social media *cough* twitter *cough* so many other places too*cough cough* just do this confusing thing called drama.

(A translation for us normal people: that basically means everyone and everything is offended and screams at each other through a bunch of pixels. The worst part is that as soon as you even slightly care... you're done for. I mean that in any way you can think about. Did I mention that solid proof, a base necessity in this kind of situations, is incredibly rare and sometimes even faked. I know it is horrid.)

Now, come back from YouTube and my brain is hurting. Boom. Such peacefulness is unmatched. (I mean.. there was that one person in someone's comments who kept pushing their view of religion onto others in an incredibly stupid way.)

This is why I propose we do something even worse. We must craft a reputation for ourselves and do crime! We don't have much time left! We must do the evil! And BETTER!! We must unite in evilness..

I'm fascinated by the Twitter crash today (which is happening as I write this at 4:30 PM CST on Wednesday, February 8) not because it happened - this was inevitable - but how SPECIFIC it is.

TweetDeck is just dead. If I'm logged in I get my feed but literally nothing else.

Retweets and DMs are dead. They flat out do not function at all.

In fact, DM archives are completely gone.

The ONLY THING that still functions on the site is the ability to send scheduled tweets.

I can't send a tweet, but if I schedule a tweet to post at least 1 full minute after I type it, THEN it goes through.

That is a very specific way to break which indicates a very specific issue and, if Elon Musk hadn't fired everyone, someone might be able to point out what that specific problem is and how to fix it.

EDIT: It appears as of 5:30 PM that the cause of the problem was Twitter turned on their paywall for the API not realizing that it would affect their own software. At least that's what's been repeated the most from different sources since there's no official announcement (and likely won't be one that anyone will believe).

I also run an amazing DND Campaign online with my friends on Twitter called Winds and Waves, so please expect to see stuff related to that. I am a very big nerd about DND in general at the moment, so a lot of what I post or reblog will most likely be about that.

And now I’m moving to Tumblr because Twitter has become an absolute dumpster fire, and I want to find a better community. I can’t promise how active I will be on here, but I will casually show up and reblog EVERYTHING and anything just for the heck of it. I’m still learning the Tumblr culture, so go easy on me for awhile if you see me lurking online or doing things the ‘wrong’ way. I’m a real person, I’m just not very used to posting here yet.
