do you prefer vigilante anti-shield/avengers spiderman or hero fanboy spiderman like in usm
tbh I've always been fan of vigilante anti-system heroes, but when it comes to Spiderman I prefer him being hero fanboy. I really love usm version of Spiderman so I wouldn't change that about him, I think it makes him even more relatable lol

So, with Ultimate Spider-Man and Absolute Batman being such a huge success, do you think there's going to some significant impact on the mainline of Marvel and DC? Especially in case with Spider-Man, since Batman is doing relatively fine anyways.
Ultimate Spider-Man's first volume titled Married With Children is selling magna numbers for those who don't know. Hard to convey how insane that is, USM is a sales behemoth by every available sales barometer we have (admittedly none are as accurate as Diamond was). I'd love to believe that Breevort, Lowe, and all the other curmudgeon Marvel editors are currently undergoing an existential crisis as they are faced with cold hard proof that Spider-Man being a husband and a father in no way diminishes his appeal... but I don't think they ever seriously believed that.
At this point I suspect it's become religious dogma to them that 616 Peter cannot grow old no matter what contradicts that belief. They'd rather kill ASM than admit they were wrong. ASM continues to sell alright and for as long as it stays in the top 25, I don't see Marvel making any changes. They're probably counting on ASM #1000 to bring all the lapsed readers back. I'd love to be wrong, but short of an editorial purge of the Spidey office similar to what happened with the X-Men, I don't see anything changing with regards to how Marvel handles the mainline.
As for Batman... has he been doing fine? I'm assuming you're referring to sales which seem to be ok judging by what little data we have. In terms of storytelling however, he's right down in the pits with Spider-Man. The main book never recovered from DC aborting the marriage King had planned. Tynion game'd the system by creating new characters to keep speculators engaged. For a time that kept sales high, but now it appears that the speculation boom is over. Williamson's run was forgettable filler and Zdarsky's run has had mixed reception to put it mildly. When was the last time the main Batman book was "must-read"? Like ASM it sells because of the power of the brand, but all the book does is recycle Morrison's run. Not since King was kicked off has anyone tried to move Batman forward. Now DC is apparently luring a big name creator back to the book with Loeb/Lee doing Hush 2: The Hushening sometime next year. My expectation is that story will be a "back to basics" that takes Batman back to his pre-Morrison status quo. Alfred returning from the dead and a return to operating out of Wayne Manor is in the works now I bet.
Absolute Batman is different from USM in that it confirms DC's belief about what makes Batman successful whereas USM defies Marvel's beliefs about Spidey. AB stars a young, unmarried Bruce Wayne with no Batfamily, who isn't a preptime god, and is a grim and gritty hero willing to employ ultraviolence. Sure there's some differences (Martha is alive! He grew up in Crime Alley with all his Rogues as childhood friends! He chops thugs hands off!) but by and large this is very much a Batman who continues to operate in the mold Miller laid down with DKR. They haven't been shy that AB was conceived as DKR Batman but young in terms of appearance. Nothing about AB being a success will change DC's notions of what makes him their most popular character.

What lenses and camera do you take photos with?
I love your photos, the photos of birds are as vivid as if you were observing them through binoculars.
Hi there,
And thank you! I just browsed your photos, they are wonderful.
For camera specifics, I will reuse an old answer, I hope you don’t mind :)
"My go-to camera, especially during summer, is a Canon Eos 80D. I also have a Canon 6D Mark II which I tend to use more during winter and dark/cloudy/rainy days. As for lenses, I use a zoom 100-400 mm (Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM), but I also frequently use a 100mm f/2.8L Macro lens for flowers, plants and insects. These are cameras and lenses I’ve used many years, and I know them very well. As with family, I tend to argue with them from time to time (“focus!”, “no, it’s NOT too dark!”, “why don’t you learn to communicate like a normal person?!” etcetera), but I always love them no matter what."
I also use my iPhone from time to time, especially when I’m scouting an area or when I simply don’t have access to my system camera. I'm thinking of trying out old fashioned analogue cameras as well, but I haven't got around to that yet (not to mention that I can't afford it at the moment). Oh, and I remember my old Polaroid camera with much love, but that camera is long gone.
All the best!

The University of Maryland reversed its decision to allow an anti-Israel protest on the first anniversary of the October 7 massacre, following backlash from local Jewish groups.
UMD Students for Justice in Palestine and UMD Jewish Voice for Peace had been set to hold their October 7 vigil for Gazans killed in the Israel-Hamas war at the campus’s Mckeldin Mall, but the University System of Maryland (USM) said in a statement on Sunday that on the day of the Hamas-led pogrom it would limit campus events requiring permits or approval to those supporting “a university-sponsored Day of Dialogue.”
“From the beginning of the war, we have come together as a University System to urge that we use this moment to encourage conversation, compassion, and civility; to engage with one another across our differences and draw on our shared humanity and our shared values to bridge what divides us,” said USM. “These dialogues aren’t new.
Tumblr media
USM said its intent was not to infringe on the free expression and speech of students, but to be sensitive to the needs of students as October 7 was a “day of enormous suffering and grief for many in our campus communities.”
UMD Jewish Student Union, Maryland Hillel, Terps for Israel, and Israeli American Council Mishelanu at Maryland welcomed the USM decision and thanked UMD leadership in a joint social media statement on Sunday.

USM Ben Reilly headcanons
•When Ben starts living with May and Peter he is realy confused of how every day household things work because: (A he's only a couple of months old Synthezoid and(B he's never lived anywhere other than HYDRA and S.H.I.E.L.D. facilities.
•Ben has a lair inside the sewer walls. It use to be one of Doc Ock's labs but once Ben went to spy on the academy it became his. He kept it after graduation.
•Since he is the clone of Peter and from his time with Doc Ock and Zola he is very smart I think it's mostly in biology and mechanics.
• He loves animals, especially rodents. He knows and has named at least 50% of the rats in the New York sewer systems. He takes any hurt or sick animals back to S.H.I.E.L.D, May's house,or his lair to fix them up.
• Adding on to the last one, he's basically a private nurse to any of Squirrel Girls Squirrels. That causes him and Doreen to become friends so sometimes in their free time they will look for Squirrels and other critters that need help around New York.
• Not only does he know how to pilot planes,he also loves them in general. So when Aunt May took him to the library for the first time he got a heap of books about them, even though he already knows everything about them.

After reviewing over 1,000 charts, I have found some good setups for the week. These were selected and should be viewed in the context of the broad Market Macro picture reviewed Friday which with just 2 trading days left in 2024, saw the week show some disappointment in equity markets following a strong rebound early.
Elsewhere look for Gold to continue to consolidate the major move higher while Crude Oil consolidates in the lower end of a broad range. The US Dollar Index continues to hold at resistance while US Treasuries pullback in consolidation. The Shanghai Composite looks to consolidate in its uptrend while Emerging Markets may be reversing their uptrend.
The Volatility Index looks to remain low making the path easier for equity markets to the upside. The charts of the SPY and QQQ continue to look strong on the longer timeframe. On the shorter timeframe both look a little weaker. The IWM is now weak enough that it is threatening the uptrend. Use this information as you prepare for the coming week and trad’em well.

Canon EOS R6, RF85mm F1.2 L USM [November 5, 2022]
[EN]
Anita. In a red coat. The outfit’s a bit wrinkled—field conditions. But I’m not sure if this one hasn’t been shared already. Has it? I thought that with a random selection from tens of thousands of photos, the chances of repeats were slim. Yet today, I drew a photo that I’m 100% sure I’ve already posted. So I tried again, and this one came up. And now I have déjà vu.
So, I’ve decided that I’ll start marking the photos in my catalog to avoid repeats. It complicates my system a bit, but oh well. I promise to do better!
[PL]
Anita. W czerwonym płaszczyku. Kreacja nieco wygnieciona. Warunki polowe. Tylko nie wiem czy tego już nie było. Było? Sądziłem, że jak się losuje zdjęcie spośród kilkunastu tysięcy to są marne szanse na powtórki. Ale dziś wylosowałem zdjęcie które na 100% już było. Więc spróbowałem drugi raz i wyszło to. I mam dejavu.
A więc postanowiłem, że jednak będę sobie oznaczał te zdjęcia w katalogu, żeby jednak się nie powtarzać. To co prawda w pewien sposób komplikuje mój system, ale co tam? Obiecuję poprawę.

Ultimate Spider-Man #10: A Bit of Deja Vu?
Tumblr media
Because of the mismanagement of both the comic book distribution system and the British postal system, I’ve only been able to catch up on Ultimate Spider-Man and read the latest issue today.
Written by regular writer Jonathan Hickman and guest artist, David Messina, this issue puts Peter and his exploits as Spider-Man on the back burner and instead, focuses on what Ben and Jonah have been getting up to at The Paper as they investigate Wilson Fisk and his presumed connection Stane/Stark Industries and recent events in New York until learning that it is actually Oscorp that purchased Stane/Stark’s assets.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This portion of the duo’s investigation is largely what takes up the content of the first half of the issue and I have to say that I didn’t find it terribly exciting, even with the added drama of Oscorp being one of the main investors for The Paper becuase as a reader, I’ve been fully aware that it was Oscorp who took over Stane/Stark for a few issues now so everything just ends up feeling like more of a recap of what I already know rather than an actual standalone story which feel like Hickman falling into the trap of focusing a bit too much on plot to the detriment of the story which is something that he occasionally has a tendency to do in some of his more recent Marvel work.
The issue only really becomes interesting near the end as we see Harry Osborn who in the new Ultimate Universe, is an anti-heroic version of the Green Goblin confront Ben and Jonah to try and get them to drop their investigation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s one of the more interesting moments in the issue as it’s gives us a bit more of an insight into how this version of Harry ticks, especially when Peter isn’t around and he isn’t able to just blow things up like he can as Green Goblin. Even though this Harry is still far more stable than most versions of the character and is still a long way from becoming the iconic villainous incarnation of The Gobln, Hickman does a good job of planting the seeds for some of Harry’s darker traits here.
This scene is also where the most interesting development of the issue occurs where Harry gives Ben and Jonah a flash drive containing information about the true nature of Earth 6160 and its history.
Tumblr media
This represents a very major turning point in the ongoing storyline of the Ultimate Universe and whilst I do have some concerns that this development has happened a bit too quickly and could interfere of what’s going in The Ultimates, the book that focuses on Iron Lad and Doom’s revolution against the Maker’s council, I do have faith that Hickman will be able to something interesting with this and I hope that the world’s true natural being revealed could lead to a sense greater of interconnectivity between the books in the Ultimate Universe line.
Just like in the other issues where Messina stepped in as guest artist, his art style is well done and fits the tone of Hickman’s writing and the slower and more character driven tone of his issues in contrast to the action orientated style of main artist, Marco Checchetto. However, I do feel that one thing that holds Messina’s art back in his USM issues is that I can’t help but feel as though he’s trying to bring his art work more in line with Checchetto’s rather than fully embracing his own strengths as an artist.
As Ultimate Spider-Man comes closer to reaching the conclusion of its first year, its consistently been one of the best books from Marvel and has been the comic that’s made me excited to read Spider-Man comics again after years of varying quality from the main line books so I’m very disappointed to say that this is the first issue of USM that’s failed to meet the high standards that the series has set for itself. Whilst it has some interesting concepts and sets up a really exciting development, a slow pace and a first half lacking in anything that hasn’t already been revealed to us results in an issue that feels little more than filler until it’s closing pages. With next issue introducing the Earth 6160 Incarnation of Black Cat, I have high hopes that this issue is just a little hiccup and that the series will be back to being one of the best comics currently being published by the big two.

Following up on my question about the world as remade by the Maker, do you feel like the worldbuilding of the new Ultimate Universe is a bit… odd? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the North American Union was dissolved and anexed by three different territorries and there is no apparent political repercussion on the streets. In Ultimates #1, the moloids seem to be a persecuted species, but in Spider-Man #8 we found out that the Mole Man works for the Kingpin, who ultimately works for the Maker. I don't know, but sometimes it also feels like the Maker changed the world but not by that much? Like, it seems similar to ours but the narrative sells it as an all different world, with the heroes (initially) wanting to go back to how things should be. What do you think?
They want to have their cake and eat it. As you say, on one hand it's a world that has a widely divergent history from ours, but also it's recognizable as similar to what life is like for us. Yes it's a bit disappointing that there hasn't been a lot of Krakoa style data pages from Hickman to flesh out what life is like, but you would have to make that the focus of an entire book to do it justice. Besides, Hickman knows that the people who rushed to get USM are more interested in character relationships than the political dynamics of the North American Union. I think Camp is doing a good job showing us what life is like on Earth 6160, but I do wish we had gotten a book focused on the Council. If we had, that would have been the best place to explain how exactly this government system Maker created works in terms of how exactly do you split up North America between foreign powers without people rebelling.

Hi there! Thank you for your kind words and for using Google to translate your comments to Swedish. I'll answer you in English though, as Google can be a bit untrustworthy from time to time (as is my English, but never mind).
Please know that I don't expect anyone to support me via Ko-fi, so don't feel bad about it. I'm just glad you are enjoying my pictures. As for which camera I use, I re-use my standard answer, as this is a question I get quite often. Here goes:
My go-to camera, especially during summer, is a Canon Eos 80D. As with family, I tend to argue with them from time to time (“focus!”, “no, it’s NOT too dark!”, “why don’t you learn to communicate like a normal person?!” etcetera), but I always love them no matter what.
I also use my iPhone from time to time, especially when I’m scouting an area or when I simply don’t have access to my system camera. I’m thinking of trying out old fashioned analogue cameras as well, but I haven’t got around to that yet (not to mention that I can’t afford it at the moment). Oh, and I remember my first camera, an old Polaroid, with much love, but that camera is long gone.
So there you go. "IS" in the zoom lens name above stands for "image stabilisation", which paired with shutter speed settings makes the bird pictures sharp. But you should know that I take many, many pictures that are far from sharp - pictures you will never see...
Thanks again for contacting me. Have a wonderful day!
