LAZZO?!
I'm thrilled to accounce that the next new film from Octopunk follows your fav street kid, Lazzo Fratello, in an original new adventure. And this one's built and animated in Unreal Engine.
The short follows Lazzo on a quest to obtain a new arm for his android girlfriend Tayla, even if it means stealing one. It's funny, it's romantic, it's a lil bit heisty, and it also introduces in original new (not DBH) cyberpunk world for Lazzo to occupy - the canals and chaos of Neo-Charleston.
I'm thrilled to collaborate with MJ Slide as my 1st AD/other half of my genius, and Neil Newbon as our Performance Capture Director! I've wanted to do motion capture for nearly a decade, and I could think of no one better to guide me and the actors thru the process.
And of course JJ returns as the voice, likeness, and performance capture of Lazzo - cause who else could fill those neon shoes!
The film is fully funded by the South Carolina Indie Grants program, in collaboration with Trident Technical College! Production begins early 2024, but if you want behind the scenes updates, be sure to check out my Patreon from now thru next year, and YouTube for production vlogs, BTS, etc.

Hi there! I'm a twine game developer and I noticed you'd converted your games to be used on Steam and the Google Play store. I'd love to ask a few questions about this, if that's okay? 1. What tools/methods did you use to convert your Twine game to APK? Did you come across any limits with file sizes and game dependencies? e.g. Images pushing you over the 100mb limit? 2. As above, but what tools/methods did you use to get Twine into an executable for Steam? Were there any hiccups here? 3. If you had to make a text-based game with gamified elements and graphics (and you wanted it on Steam/Android, and to retain screen reader capabilities) would you do it in Twine again, or would you use another engine or solution such as Ren'py, Godot, Unreal, etc? Thank you so much for your time!
Hi.
Under the cut, you'll find a list of videos and links that helped me put the game on Steam and Android.
Feel free to ask any questions as you go through the process—some steps aren't detailed here, as a few things currently escape my memory.
To be able to publish your game on Steam, Google Play, or Apple store, you need to create an account.
Follow the steps on this video to create an account on Steam:
youtube
Or this one:
youtube
This is the Steam work page to start:
Follow this step for google Play
youtube
Twine game needs to be repacked as app before you can publish them.
To repack your Twine games, use these steps:
Tumblr media
For Google, you'll need an Android repacker. You can use this one below: (This site is not free)
Here is how to use it (Skip to 3:01 minutes)
youtube
For point #1, I had no issues with size or image limit. Steam does give you different ways to upload depending on the size of your game.
Tumblr media
For point #2, there will be hiccups and errors when you try to complete this checklist on Steam, but again, watch the videos and send some questions my way, I'll help as much as I can.
Tumblr media
For point #3, I have no idea about the Screen Reader part. I know Twine is good for it, but personally, I don't plan on using Twine any longer, I'm moving to Renpy because it's are easier for me as of now.
Side note: Be sure to watch even more videos than those listed and don't hesitate to do additional research on Google whenever you feel stuck. Most questions and answers are already out there, so a quick search can often point you in the right direction.
If you still need help, feel free to send your questions my way!

lace's Project List TM:
i keep poking at radiant historia perfect chronology to try and rip sprites/art from it, but i think it's just above my skillset :') i've come at it from many angles and i just can't get the files converted/open - may require me to learn more about decrypting etc. not giving up altogether but not happening anytime soon. might try and see if i can crack open the original instead and see if i can get stuff out of there. also want to try cracking open a more mainstream 3ds game (something really basic and frequently modded) just to check if i can get in there at all. would love to be able to 3ds rip but nintendo consoles unsurprisingly hard to get into
cotc going good though. there's still a few things i'm struggling to find in the files (namely triangle strategy npcs like benedict and the character splash art) but i've hunted down almost everything i really wanted and it's just a matter of organizing and figuring out what's what and putting sheets together for submission. i hope i can get my hands on more updates later on but. for now i'll just pry everything i can out of this may 2024 version lol.
bd2 asset uploading remains on indefinite hiatus until sr approves the game as a category. figure it makes sense to work on cotc first since i can like. actually upload as i go (and as much as i love bd2 and the assets, hd-2d sprites are cooler than 3d game UI stuff.) i also still wanna play with animating the models in there more but not a priority. want to learn how to rip steam games with other engines too, since rn it's just unreal that i know
but i also wanna play with modding 3ds games (namely smash, mk7, the other basics) and installing fun stuff in there. i've really only modded my fe games so far. but the 3ds is so easy to play with now...
i'm hoping maybe the switch will end up like the 3ds once [next nintendo console] is out and it'll be more hackable and easy and safe to do so, because that would be so fun, but i'm also not getting my hopes up too high bc my understanding is the wii u is still kind of a pain to get going (and the switch is such a finicky little thing). still. dreams
this computer's ability to handle emulators is veryyyy limited but at some point i might embark on a journey to at least TRY and get a na and/or jp android running so i can try and get my hands on more current app updates. not counting on it though :') will probably need to get a new computer within the next year but for now old girl's limping along and she's FINE okay. want to expand my programming and tech knowledge in general in any ways i can, which is hard bc it is definitely not something that comes naturally to me, but i'm trying
but yeah that's what i'm up to. and make time to draw and crochet and actually like play my games (dreamlight valley tiana update tomorrow...)
(and work and chores and life and shit)

GAME: WUTHERING WAVES
DEVELOPER(S): Kuro Games (A private Chinese video game development and publishing company founded in 2017. In addition to games, the company has created various products such as animated series, novels, comics, music, and merchandise like figure).
ENGINE: Unreal Engine 4
PLATFORMS: iOS, Android, Microsoft Windows, macOS
RELEASED: iOS, Android, Microsoft Windows (May 22, 2024)
GENRE(S): Action role-playing, Gacha Game
• SUMMARY
Being an open world gacha game, Wuthering Waves has been compared to other titles such as Genshin Impact, but aims to emphasize combat more than its predecessors.
• SYNOPSIS
Wuthering Waves is set in a futuristic post-apocalyptic world after a catastrophe called the Lament wiped out most of humanity and caused unknown beings and monsters, called Tacet Discords, to appear. Humanity adapted to the threat and over time rebuilt civilization. The story follows the amnesiac Rover, who has awoken from a deep slumber and sets out to explore this new world.
• GAMEPLAY
Wuthering Waves is set in an open world. The player controls protagonist the Rover, as well as recruited units called Resonators, which are split into 4-star and 5-star rarities. The endgame content features modes where characters can be used in a series of combat challenges.
The game's combat system features Intro and Outro skills, Intro skills are triggered when the characters enters the combat mode and Outro skills are triggered when the characters leaves the combat mode. Both skills are triggered when the characters are switched.
The game's gacha system features banners known as Convenes, where Resonators and weapons can be obtained. There are three types of Convenes: novice, event, and standard. A pity system guarantees that 5-star items are obtained within a set amount of pulls.
The game features Echoes, an ability that transforms characters into monsters briefly or summons monsters briefly.
• DEVELOPMENT
Wuthering Waves was revealed on May 23, 2022 on Kuro Games' social media accounts. It was announced for iOS on March 25, 2024.
The game underwent two closed beta tests, with the second concluding in March 2024. After the first closed beta test, the story content was largely reworked in response to player feedback that it felt "uncomfortable".
On March 29, 2024, it was announced that Wuthering Waves was to be released on iOS, Android, and PC via the Epic Games Store, on May 22, 2024.[8] In May 2024, it was announced that Wuthering Waves will be released through the Mac App Store in the future.
• FINAL THOUGHTS
Myself and a close friend are currently playing through the game so we can engage in the multiplayer together. The only reason I’m aware of this game is because of them. I didn’t finish or get far through Genshin Impact, but this game caught my attention and I’ll say, while their is quite a bit of dialogue to get through- this game is definitely fun and there’s quite A LOT to do within this game as it is open world. I’ll probably update this when I finish, but for now it’s a go in my books.

The popularity of programming languages can change over time due to various factors like technological advancements, industry trends, and community preferences.
However, as of my last update, some of the widely used programming languages included:
Python: Python has been consistently popular due to its versatility, ease of learning, and extensive libraries. It's commonly used in web development, data analysis, artificial intelligence, and scientific computing. JavaScript: JavaScript remains essential for web development, both on the front-end and back-end. With the rise of Node.js, it's also used for server-side development. It's likely to continue its importance in 2023. Java or C++: These languages have a long history and continue to be relevant, especially in areas like enterprise software, mobile app development (Java for Android), and game development (C++ in game engines like Unreal Engine). The popularity of languages can vary depending on your specific area of interest or industry, so it's essential to stay updated with the latest trends and developments in the programming world.

Blog Post 6: Android Studio and Meta Quest Link Setup
The following technical obstacle involved connecting Android Studio to Unreal for developing APK files destined for Meta Quest usage. The required SDKs together with NDKs needed installation while I established the proper environmental variables. The tutorials provided assistance while omitting certain small updates that required me to solve them by using Unreal forums' resources.
youtube
I managed to setup the Meta Quest Link which allowed me to conduct direct testing successfully. The headset successfully displayed the environment which felt amazing even in its preliminary form. The established integration became important for continuous testing of game mechanics among development cycles.

Practice 2: Apache VR- Oculus test
Blog#7
25/02/25
We tested our scene with the Oculus today. Kevin brought the VR set and attempted to set it up with his laptop before we met. However, since the loaned Oculus did not have a long enough cable with sufficient bandwidth, we struggled to connect it to the PC. Gautham tried to connect it wirelessly by linking both the laptop and the Oculus to the mobile hotspot, but the connection was quite slow. We then connected the Oculus directly to the laptop hotspot, which provided a better connection speed, but we still couldn't see the VR preview. After researching the Unreal Engine documentation and FAQs, we discovered that we needed to set up the Android SDK and NDK. For version 5.3, we downloaded the Android Studio Flemingo: Patch 2 version, and then used the SDK Manager in Android Studio to install the required features. Kevin set everything up as suggested, and we managed to get the VR preview running from Unreal Engine 5.3. We quickly got accustomed to the controllers, which were a bit tricky at first. It was an amazing experience to see the environment we created in VR and to interact with the elements within it. Afterward, we finalized the design for the creature, and everyone was happy with the fourth design. I'll start working on the 3D model for that design.

VR Project: Week 4 Blog 7;
Compiling the final apk files
So after the scene was done I followed a tutorial titled "How to package your unreal engine 5.4 projects - ANDROID/VR project" by Unreal Engine VR to package the VR project for Android using Unreal Engine 5.4.
youtube
Vid; Unreal Engine VR (2024) How to package your unreal engine 5.4 projects - ANDROID/VR project. YouTube, 25 April. Available at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfI_WlKFUak (Accessed: 13 March 2025).
I started by launching a VR template in UE 5.4. While that was loading, I checked what SDK, NDK, and JDK versions were needed. According to the official documentation, SDK 33 was recommended, with 30 being the minimum. NDK had to be version 25.1, and JDK needed to be version 17. Android Studio Flamingo 2022.2.1 Patch 2 was required too. Found it in the archives and downloaded it.
I already had Android Studio 4.0 on my system, but the tutorial recommended a clean install without importing previous settings. Uninstalled the old one and installed the new version as suggested.
After setting up Android Studio, I went into the SDK Manager. Selected SDK 33, and under SDK Tools, enabled "Show Package Details" to pick the specific build tools version 33.0.1. Also made sure to download NDK 25.1, CMake 3.10 and 3.22, and the command line tools.
Next step was downloading JDK 17 from the Java archives. Installed it and checked in the command prompt using java -version, which showed 17.0.1. That was good enough according to the tutorial.
With everything installed, I moved back into Unreal Engine to set up the packaging settings. Went into Project Settings, enabled full rebuild, switched to Android platform, set the SDK level to 33, and made sure APK packaging was checked. Then pointed Unreal to the correct paths for SDK, NDK, and JDK based on what I had just installed.
Everything looked good on paper.
But when I hit package… it didn’t work.
I ran into a bunch of errors. Unreal kept throwing issues even though the paths and versions matched what the tutorial asked for. I spent hours trying to troubleshoot but couldn’t get past the errors.
youtube
Vid; Andicox Studio (2024) Fixing Packaging and Cooking Issues in Unreal Engine 5 (UE5). YouTube, 2024. Available at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IdTXHZ0Azqg (Accessed: 13 March 2025).
To resolve these errors, I followed a tutorial that recommended addressing each red error code individually and cleaning them manually. Although it was a time-consuming process, after nearly four hours of debugging, I managed to narrow the issues down to just a few problematic texture maps. These textures were directly imported from Fab, which seemed to be the root cause. I reached out to Ong Jian Wei, who opened the texture files in Photoshop and exported them in a different format. Surprisingly, that simple step fixed the issue — the engine finally accepted them without throwing any more errors.
