Welp I guess I’m going to have to go into some detail now XD
So here is a very basic timeline of the key events in this AU and how it fits into the Blood Dragon universe. There’s even a few pictures!
WARNING this is a LONG post and features discussion of scientific abuse and torture so read with care.
The setup starts before Eden takes over with the Rabbid invasion of the US and Rayman being dumped into this universe from Dimension X
The Rabbids are dealt with by the military but Rayman is captured and held as an alien by the government, who don’t really know what to do with him but he seems friendly and hey it’s a free alien they can keep as a science project.
Rayman is not ok with this but he has nowhere else to go and these military guys seem to not want to kill him so ok.
Then Eden takes over. They basically do this through corporate meddling and financial control and managed to do it without needing Rayman as a mascot.
BUT now they have control over the government and all the stuff they have they find Rayman and go ‘oh cool, free test subject’ and start to experiment on him to figure out a) how he works and b) tie this into their plans to create a dimension portal gun.
Rayman is VERY not ok with this but he doesn’t have much choice.
Cue poor Ray getting physically tortured for months as Eden tries to figure out how he works.
MEANWHILE we cut to Sam Fisher. He’s pretty much the same as he was in the show. Ex us military guy who doesn’t like how Eden is corrupting the youth and destroying the nation etc etc
He lives with his daughter Sarah who is at the age where Eden is trying to corrupt her young mind (but they don’t have the Rayman Kids concept so it’s not quite as effective). Plus Sam is a good dad who is trying to keep his little girl on the right track.
Sam connects with Marcus Holloway and his hacker network in the hopes of getting Sarah out of Eden to stay with a military buddy of his.
Holloway agrees to help him smuggle Sarah out but in return wants the ex military badass to do some recon for him to figure out what the hell Eden is doing with this whole dimensional portals thing.
Sam is like ‘sure if it helps my daughter and messes with Eden a little I’m game’
So Sam uses his super espionage skills to break into one of Eden’s science divisions to get info.
He doesn’t get far before he gets discovered and has to retreat, but not before he ends up finding Rayman locked in Eden’s basement,
Eden has pretty much taken everything they need from poor Ray and left him to rot until they can figure out what to do with him.
Sam being a cool dude takes pity on the limbless guy and invites him to escape with him. Rayman is 100% ok with this plan.
Cue daring escape.
Sam takes Ray home to meet Sarah who is instantly fascinated by the little limbless alien and the two form a sibling like bond. Rayman is just happy to be somewhere safe where he’s not being tortured for science and is reminded that humans are ok actually.
This bond also helps Sarah because the idea that Eden would hurt Rayman helps her not fall for their bullshit propaganda so easily.
The little family spend a few months together to form a bond until Marcus gives Sam the all clear for Sarah to escape Eden
Originally Rayman is supposed to go with Sarah but she asks him to stay with her dad to keep him safe in Eden. Rayman agrees and he and Sam send Sarah out of Eden safely with Marcus’ help.
Almost immediately after this Marcus and his hacker group are raided and captured.
Sam is obviously gung-ho to rescue him in return for what he did for Sarah, so he and Rayman bust into the VR jail to rescue Marcus.
Sam, Rayman and Marcus form their own rebel group to take down Eden and retreat to the desert VR facility as the foundation of their base.
Cue several years of recruiting and fucking with Eden’s propaganda as Eden grows in power.
Sam trains Rayman to help him take part in stealth missions with him and Marcus is the tech guy support. Basically Rayman becomes the Splinter Ray skin from Rayman Legends
Through this they also make contact with the Assassin organisation that Bullfrog is part of and the teams start working together to wreck Eden.
Sam and Rayman meet Bullfrog. Yay!
More cool training and sharing of skills between Sam, Rayman and Bullfrog.
This leads into Wasteland War as Eden strikes back against the rebels.
During this time Dolph is working for Eden but his story more of less plays out the same with him meeting Alex, ditching the military and going on the run. He’s not really involved with the rebellion at this point.
MEANWHILE Sarah returns to Eden and reunites with Sam.
Because she wasn’t brainwashed as a kid she believes in the strength of the rebellion. She came back to either take her dad somewhere safe or join the team. Obviously she does the latter.
Sam and Rayman are obviously overjoyed to see Sarah again.
BUT SHE IS NOT ALONE.
In order to locate her dad she had to make contact with someone on the inside of Eden who would be willing to send her updates and info
SURPRISE ITS JADE AND PEY’J :D
Jade and Sarah are penpal buddies yay
By this point we pretty much have the whole gang together on the rebel side.
THEN Alex betrays Dolph for his own goals and Dolph gets captured. THIS WOULD BE THE STARTING POINT FOR THE STORY FROM DOLPH’S PERSPECTIVE LIKE THE SHOW.
Marcus is like ‘hey guys we should have this badass on our side’
Sam and Rayman are like ‘lol ok’
They bust him out and ‘encourage’ him to join their rebellion.
Dolph is hesitant until Marcus tells him he can get him info on Alex.
Dolph joins the rebellion strike force because he’s just that easy to convince XD
Everyone is here and as stated above we follow Dolph’s story coming to terms with his new team, learning about their history and how they all work together.
IT WOULD BE A BIG OLD GROUP PROJECT AND IT WOULD BE AWESOME.
And there we go! Basically all the setup for an alternate take on the Blood Dragon universe. Let’s call it the ‘Splinter Cel Remix’ :D
Obviously there is a lot less death and double crossing in this version and some people might thinks that’s lame but this is only the background for a continuing plot line so anything could happen. Also I’m SURE my timelines are all messed up with character ages and when the Wasteland war was, and even more screwed up with removing Rayman as Eden’s mascot. BUT WHATEVER it’s just a fun little what if.

The Gregory Getters [FNAF SB, Renegade AU]

In the Renegade AU, the Tales books take place in a VR environment and nowhere else. The books were produced in-universe as sanitised lab reports of what happened in the VR environment under the guise of marketable stories.
Lots is altered and left out to push Faz Ent's narrative and discredit any attempts to uncover the filthy truth beneath the surface.
This also included the chaotic escapades of team 'Save Gregory', aka the 'Gregory Getters'. A story warped into the lab report turned tale, GGY.
After Gregory was abducted by a Faz Ent executive from where he and Cassie were hiding out in the megaplex, Cassie formed a team consisting of the only friends she had:
Rachel Collins, the athletic one with a knack for learning new technology, the granddaughter of a security guard fired during the Riot night, a date that lined up to the night after Gregory's kidnapping, and the only person other than Gregory who stuck around for her birthday party, even after it was cancelled due to the sinkhole causing an emergency evacuation of the entire raceway.
Tory Beck, a young boy with a knack for investigating mysteries. Like many of his idols, he is willing to see any story through to the end, no matter what it takes.
Elijah Bronev, the most normal kid you can imagine with a suspicious knack for using many existing proprietary systems that a random child should not be able to get their hands on. Well, normal aside from the fact that he sees all ghosts no matter how hard they hide, and he's not even possessed.
Once the dream team was assembled and decided on the team name "the Gregory Getters", Cassie knew where Gregory was being held and had a plan to get close, and it needed everyone's trust and cooperation, as she would head in first and set everything up. Everyone else was to infiltrate an hour later. Rachel took her grandpa's security badges before sneaking out of the hospital to meet up with the others at the rendezvous point, Elijah reactivated the security badges so the trio could make it into the megaplex and have the clearance to access the objective location, and Tory used maps of the megaplex to get himself, Elijah, and Rachel into the objective location: a room with headsets connected to the VR environment.
Once at the VR room, Cassie was nowhere to be found, but there was a note in her handwriting.
"I let Bill catch me on purpose. It's the only way I can get both physically close to Gregory and to a VR headset with enough backdoors to give you all these backdoors later. They are holding him in the VR environment and are using it to train him to be a killer using what some poor lady was forced to do by Faz Ent's big boss himself as training data.
I'll catch up with you in the VR environment."
So the trio took the plunge, and found themselves in the VR environment.
Cassie's character was a mysterious blonde girl in a pink sweater, Rachel's character was Crystal, Tory's character was Tony, and Elijah's character was Ellis.
Cassie decided to use the name 'Amelia' to keep both her own identity and the identity of the character that she was using a secret.
Once in the VR environment, Cassie explained the second phase of this covert operation: bring Gregory back to reality causing as little suspicion as possible in the process. That meant that they couldn't expose what Faz Ent was training Gregory to do without sufficient evidence either, as it would be taken as either a madman's ramblings or slander, and both would put unwanted eyes on them. But Cassie assured the team that they had plenty of resources: because Faz Ent's VR environment's user base is mostly techies and business majors, they had to have settings to grant themselves extra skills to do the jobs that they either were not permitted to train in, such as detective and journalist, couldn't train in, like medium, couldn't be bothered to train a business major in, like hacker and tinkerer, or couldn't be bothered to train a techie in, like businessman.
The list of possible 'Jobs' was vast, and covered almost all walks of life, from teacher to mafia godfather to mall kiosk employee, and also doubled as a shortcut for giving non-player character AIs the optimal skillets for various jobs, and even included the ability to have what Rachel referred to as a 'Sub-Job'.
It was definitely one way to make sure that this virtual world felt like an actual world and not a vertical slice of silicone valley.
It reminded Rachel of a retro game she had been binging, and she immediately set herself up with tinkerer as her primary job, and hacker as her secondary job. Tory set himself up as a journalist detective as that's what he was good at in the real world. Elijah set himself up as a hacker medium as his ability to see ghosts didn't transfer to the virtual world, and the medium's job outfit was a gaudy enable as oposed to the office clerk or factory worker business casual he expected, and picking hacker simply felt optimal.
Why the journalist job was full of abilities that drain and freeze foes in combat as oposed to actual investigatory skills was beyond what any of the four Gregory Getters were aware of.
Cassie didn't disclose her selection, or if she selected anything at all. She just said that due to the character that she was using, she already had what she needed.
All they had to do now was get Gregory to lure 'Tony' to a megaplex and get him alone. 'Crystal' and 'Ellis' were vital to this, as they'd work on 'agro management', ensuring that Gregory would take note of 'Tony's' investigation, and ensuring that the 'investigation' bore logical fruit. From there, all Tory would have to do is use the skills from his 'journalist' class to freeze Gregory so that Cassie can work whatever magic she had planned to save him from this VR environment.
With Gregory, no, GGY was more accurate, lurred to the megaplex of this VR world, Tony sacrificed his character to freeze GGY in place, and as the auto-log-out-on-death that Cassie had secretly set all of the Gregory Getters equipment with logged him out, he watched as Cassie, Rachel, and Elijah put an end to GGY.
Everyone else logged out the proper way a few minutes later, after Cassie manually logged Gregory out herself.
They succeeded in saving Gregory from the VR environment, but that was only half the extraction complete. Faz Ent was now looking for her and Gregory, and as his rescue rendered him unconscious, there wasn't much Cassie could do. So Cassie stashed the hardly conscious Gregory inside of Freddy's stomach hatch as it was the safest place to stash him; Freddy would be on stage soon, so he'd not be found for at least a while and have time to wake up and acclimate to being awake in the real world so she could safely retrieve him later. However, Freddy shut down on stage upon seeing Rachel, Tory, and Elijah fleeing the building. Cassie was then forced to flee herself, unable to retrieve Gregory due to the commotion.
She met the rest of her team empty handed at the rendezvous point, a graveyard five miles north of the megaplex, an hour later. She explained that she had to hide Gregory inside of a shut down Freddy that was preparing for a show, and that she'd have to go into hiding for a while. The gunshot graze on her leg was evidence enough that she'd made the right call.
This rescue mission and Faz Ent's hubris in attempting to recapture Gregory triggered an event that would later be dubbed "The Breach".

If this has a good reception I might make a fic to flesh out these events more. If it has a bad reception, I'll make the fic out of spite anyway.
Also, whilst I do have a style for colouring things in the VR environment, this peice does not use that style because it was coloured before I decided on that style change that signifies the VR environment. Though if you want something diegetic, Cassie is really good with makeup and has, on several occasions, suggested dolling everyone up to look like thier VR environment counterparts in order to give the execs that worked on those projects a heart attack.

Grandpa, with a furrowed brow and a hint of skepticism, approached the recruiting booth, where Y8PWZ was still attending to the paperwork and logistics. "Excuse me," the elderly man said, "I've been listening to your pitch about my grandson joining the heavy rescue division, but why does he have to undergo this VR-based neuro conditioning? We didn't have any of that back in my time at the fire service."
Y8PWZ, ever the embodiment of professionalism, acknowledged the concern with a nod. "I understand your apprehension, sir. The Paramedic Corps has evolved over the years, incorporating advanced techniques to enhance not just physical capabilities but also mental resilience. The VR-based neuro conditioning is a crucial component of our training regimen. Legendary Heroes: the Tutorial (part 3)
Shimmering golden rings surround Mokuba as the rest of the world disappears into cerulean like a wave. The tiny golem, just as everything starts to fade, decides to do a runner, charging forward and disappearing into the fading surroundings.
The next moment, Mokuba would find himself on top of the roof of a broken cathedral, looking over what remains of a small town built in the center of a lake. Except now the lake's all dried all up. The sunset's orange glow paints a desolate picture as it shines over broken suburban homes and sunken boats - the claw marks and dents paint what Mokuba is potentially up against.
There is a commotion going on below two blocks away, peppered by the sound of gunfire. Four men in military garb are knocking on a building and firing bullets into it. They are hollering and seem to be cursing, though they are too far away to actually hear properly.
There's a faint sense of being watched but not quite directly as if someone were just passively observing - like being caught in the peripheral vision of another or seen through an unmanned camera. It's the sort of feeling that could only be caught if one had experienced full immersion VR at its worst.
< Tutorial Mode On. Motion Assist will allow you to automatically complete actions if you have not experienced or done them before - or wielding weapon or gun kata-style skills. Motion Assist is particularly useful for quickly climbing and descending buildings or running through rooftops. >
Faint green spots could be seen highlighting the ledges of the buildings to climb down - and a route that takes Mokuba from the rooftops down towards the buildings the four men in military garb are assailing.
< Depending on your stats, you may have better paths available to you through Motion Assist. Please note that Motion Assist will not stop you from going through a hazard, therefore you must plan accordingly. If you have high enough personal proficiency, you may be able to perform acts that could not be done with Motion Assist's aid. >

The static already causes Mokuba to cringe, the tone nearly has him quitting the game on the spot as it grates his ears.
"wait--!!" he calls as the golem follows the call of the void, reaching out to the strange fellow but falling short of giving chase.
And then the setting settles.
Mokuba takes a few seconds to get his barings, looking around himself as he takes in the virtual environment. He's quickly attracted to the sounds of the commotion below, rushing to the edge of the building to try and get a glimpse of what's going on.
Ah. Yeah. He feels that. But it's not a surprise, really. Of course Gouzaburo would have Moderators.
As he's coming to grips with this new setting, he takes in the words given to him by his guide. Tutorial Mode. Motion Assist. Stats. Hazards.
The stipulations of the Death Lockout cause him to frown. ALL the gold? ALL items?? Three fucking hours to respawn??? Whoever designed this game clearly needed to be fired. And whoever rated this game so highly must have been an idiot. He makes a mental note about how NOT to make a game fun, interesting, and encouraging.
That said, he has little choice but to play along with the strict rules. At least this is just the tutorial stage.
He will follow the green spots that lead him down the building and make his way in the indicated direction.
Following the green path takes Mokuba on a fun little parkour route, involving hopping between alleyways and broken floors on the way there. The Motion Assist is a sort of guide that makes everything flow more smoothly - his hands find good handholds on the buildings to climb up or down on, his feet find mostly sure-footing. He's still at the wheel when it comes to the body, just that he doesn't have to consciously focus on it, like a faked muscle memory.
It doesn't take him long to reach his destination, a handful of minutes from beginning to end.
The building at the destination is surprisingly intact - a two-story building that has long rafters and windows secured by metal bars. The building interior is lit, given the faint glow of light coming from the glazed windows, but nothing else can be seen.
The dimming sun causes the shadows to lengthen, obscuring Mokuba's approach - not that the trio of men were paying attention to their backs at the moment.
"Come on, kid. Open up, or I'll blow your house down," said a menacing-looking man with tattoos and scars decorating over his face. He carries a machette at the side while wielding a shotgun in his hands.
"You are so cringe," another man in glasses says in disgust. He doesn't have a weapon in his hands, but he has two pistols in holsters at the sides, "Look, kid! You're sitting on some prime estate here. If you let us in, we can share. Otherwise, we'll just harass you every day until you give in."
"What is this, day 4 now?" said a man who looked more like an orc with the nose-ring and the somewhat cone-shaped head and very thick muscles. "We could be raiding other bases, but instead we got sent over here to harass a little girl." The man waves his warhammer carelessly, nearly bowling Glasses over.
"Shut up. The boss know what they're doing," Glasses says in annoyance, "A base like this, impervious to bullets and can prevent entry, gotta be worth a fortune. Easy real-estate."
"YOU HEAR THAT, GIRLIE," said Menacing, "WE WANT YOUR BASE. WE CAN DO THIS ALL MONTH."
A sudden BANG causes the other two to jump as Menacing unloads his shotgun into the door.
"Fuck. Ammo doesn't grow on trees, idiot," Orc cursed, holding his ears, "Especially shotgun ammo. If you waste the few you have left, I'm not making you more."
The trio loudly bicker without realizing they have an observer.
Mokuba can't lie, the parkour, the hopping and jumping and climbing are fun. Being able to do these acrobatic stunts is amazing. Especially when he can't even manage a cartwheel in reality.
But that fun quickly comes to an abrupt end as he reaches the scene in question. He's quiet as he approaches, a hand rested on the hold of his katana. Their words immediately send warnings through his body and he stills, listening. Frowning.
"what's going on here?" he finally asks, oh so casual, like a tourist happening upon a local street performance. But god. How this tactless harassment, their casual banter, turns his stomach. But even with a sneak attack, he knows he's outnumbered. He knows he doesn't understand this game or his own abilities well enough to just start blasting these assailants.
It's clear they were not expecting a visitor. They all but jump in place at Mokuba's voice. And it takes a moment for them to catch Mokuba's figure amid the dying light. A street and some abandoned cars to the side all but separate Mokuba from the three, now wary men.
At least when Menacing catches an eye on what Mokuba's wearing.
A peal of laughter escapes the man's lips. "GOD, YOU LOOK LIKE SOMETHING OUT OF AN ANIME. DON'T YOU KNOW WHAT GAME YOU'RE PLAYING?" He just motions over to himself with his emptied double-barrel shotgun towards his military garbs and bandolier. "THE BEST FIRST PERSON SHOOTER IN THE WORLD. AMERICAN-MA-"
Smack.
"The game's made in Japan, moron." Glasses interjects after slapping the back of Menacing's head. His left hand motions with the sign of a quick downward motion of his hand, followed by his fingers joining together in a vague Italian-like gesture. His hand opens up to reveal a floating, shard of ice. "There's nothing to see here. This is the Godly Dragon Army's" - he winces faintly at his faction's name - "business. Go away or we'll make you."
Orc however raises his sledgehammer, eyeing the distance between himself and Mokuba. "I don't know. I really like this nobody's katana. I didn't expect this sledgehammer to be so cumbersome." He slams his sledgehammer into the sidewalk, causing debris to fly. He eyes Mokuba. "Why don't you leave it here, lest we kick your ass?"
All the while, several windows are popping up with a small < Tutorial > tag at the end.

In restrospect, maybe he should have attempted a sneak attack on these jerks. But he also hadn't been quite sure if this game expected him to aid these soldiers or defend their target.
But now that's been made pretty clear. "oh cool. so you're the baddies."
He rests his hand limply on the hilt of his katana at his waist, giving Menacing an unamused, judgemental stare. Thank god for Glasses, at least someone here has some kind of tact. He even notices the little cringe at the name of their faction, which Mokuba bites his lips together in a clear sign of surpressing a snicker at.
But Orc's the one who finally gets a response from Mokuba. "mmm, no thanks. it kinda ties the look together, don't you think?"
He takes note of the tutorial tips, trying to ignore the way he already feels a bit over his head here. At least it's just the tutorial.
In stark contrast to his previous leisurely behavior, Mokuba very quickly extends his fingers, twists his wrist, and slings a Fire Arrow, aiming for the ice shard in Glasses's hand, hoping the elemental advantage will come out as impressive as he hopes.
Menacing doesn't seem to be put off by Mokuba's judgmental stare or his companion's disdain. Instead, he only gives a toothy grin and scoffs at the "baddies" comment without saying another word. Instead, he tenses up with his companions as the time for talk gradually runs down. And yet it was not them who made the first move. The fire arrow surprises the trio, most of all Glasses who had been clearly expecting a suicidal charge from Mokuba. Being caught flat-footed, he stumbles over as the fire arrow collides with the ice shard, which results in an explosion into the man's face. An agonized yelp could be heard as he crumples over in the dark. Orc, surprised by the attack, immediately charges forward towards Mokuba, his movement slightly jittery - unclear if it's from the weight of the sledgehammer he's wielding or being unused to being in VR. Still, the overhead swing would crush Mokuba's head like a watermelon, should it connect. Menacing meanwhile reloads out in the open, his motions clearly hampered as he screws up the reloading - hands trying to do one thing but somehow coming out as another. His hand drops the shotgun shells he's holding. "THIS FUCKING THING."
Oh, now that's a satisfying result. Mokuba's previously unfazed expression turns to a gleeful smirk at Glasses's pain, but he doesn't have much time to revel in his genius attack.
Mokuba moves quickly to try and dodge the incoming melee attack. He draws his katana as he rushes the clumsy Menacing, simultaneously putting distance between himself and Orc as he attempts to slash the other man while he's disarmed.
Since Orc seems to be the biggest threat, he's going to try and take the other, more ranged combatants out first.
The overhead swing misses Mokuba with time to spare, leaving behind a small crater into the sidewalk. Orc struggles with extracting his sledgehammer from the ground, just as Mokuba dashes past him in a charge towards Menacing. Menacing's eyes widen perceptively as Mokuba rushes him, and he immediately abandons his shotgun and draws the machete towards his side. Metal scrapes against metal as Menacing blocks with the blade flat. He's visibly sweating, but as if emboldened by his success, he starts making wild, violent crazy swings with his machette - not aimed at anything in particularly but more just to keep Mokuba away. "YOU SEE THIS! I'LL HAVE YOU KNEW I GRADUATED THE TOP OF MY CLASS IN THE US ARMY! AND I FOUGHT AGAINST TERRORISTS! AND HAD 100, NO OVER 1000 TIMES CONFIRMED KIL-" Around this time, the sound of something breaking free could be heard, followed by the sound of footsteps as Orc tries to close the distance once again.
Mokuba spares a glance back at Orc as he hears the hammer connect, but his main focus is on the panicked Menacing. He's disappointed when his blade is blocked, gritting his teeth as he tries to make a new plan. He takes steps backwards, keeping his opponent's wild swings with the shorter weapon at least the katana's length from himself.
"they must've all died from LAUGHING too hard, cause your form's a JOKE," he taunts, avoiding more than countering the swings. Another glance back at the now approaching Orc.
If he times this right, maybe he can get one of these brutes to take out the other when he dashes aside at the last second, using his smaller form to his benefit.
Menacing doesn't reply, no longer even having the breath to respond. He is visibly panting as he continues throwing slash after ineffectual slash over and over without actually hitting anything, caught between his growing confidence and the fear from his close-call. His form somehow degrades even further than before - what were straight slashes became less steady, his wild strikes visibly slower. Meanwhile, Orc roars as he closes the distance similar to last time - the sudden dash-like movement bringing him a swing's length once more towards Mokuba - except now he chooses to swing horizontal to try and sweep the hammerhead into the side of Mokuba's chest.
Man, Mokuba almost feels bad for this guy, wearing himself frazzled while accomplishing nothing at all. He doesn't even need to parry at this point, managing to avoid the machete with almost minimal effort.
Which is good, because it's going to take all of his effort to evade this second hammer swing. His eyes go wide when he realizes the attack is coming from the side this time. He dives quickly to the ground following the direction of the swing, hoping to minimalize the attack should it connect.
The massive swing misses, but the force behind could be felt as it wooshes over Mokuba's dive. The swing should've stopped short of Menacing, but what Orc didn't predict was Menacing's tunnel vision. And he continues on with his charge, trying to chase Mokuba's dive. What happens next is tragedy. The sledgehammer collides -through - the machete and into Menacing's arm and side. It's hard to tell whether the sound of snapping metal or multiple pulverized bones was louder, and the man sprawls into a nearby blue mailbox. It doesn't take long before the man, unfortunately conscious, starts screaming in both pain and horror, his silhouette hidden in the dark. Orc doesn't acknowledge Menacing's distress beyond going for the next overhead swing. He visibly strains with the wind-up but manages to bring the sledgehammer upwards for another overhead strike.
Mokuba's heart pounds as he feels the air rush over him, as he just narrowly avoids the sledgehammer. The sound of metal and gore turn his stomach, sending chills down his spine.
He doesn't look at the aftermath. He's too busy trying to catch his breath from the force of hitting the ground and the shock of his near death experience in time to avoid the next attack. His katana had been dropped during the desperate dive, but luckily it isn't his only option.
He puts as much effort as he can into scrambling up just enough to throw himself into a forward roll he can hopefully bounce up from away from the massive hammer.
The overhead swing slams uncomfortably close to Mokuba as he rolls forwards, Orc trying to compensate for Mokuba's movement. He misses but not before setting off shattered bits of concrete everywhere like a small explosion. Should they hit, they would definitely be painful, nicks and cuts across exposed skin - maybe something more substantial like bruising with heavier pieces - but not nearly as much as it should've been had Orc connected. Speaking of Orc, he's left gasping after his third swing of the fight. Whatever the stamina cost of that sledgehammer of his, it must've been absurd. He attempts to give chase with the hammer in hand, but he cannot muster the strength to move the hammer another inch. He abandons his sledgehammer - and instead picks up Mokuba's katana, murder in his eyes. He stalks forward, and, in the dim light of the inn, is noticeably bloodied with nicks and scratches from the shrapnel of his own blows. "Game over, shithead!" he gloats between gulps of air, raising his significantly lighter blade for the coup de grace.
Mokuba hisses in pain as he's hit by the shrapnel, but there's no time to think about that now. As much as he hurts, it's going to be a lot worse if he can't stop this oversized asshole coming at him, now armed with his precious accessory.
Though the roll worked for him, he doesn't have quite the momentum or acrobatics to bounce up the way he'd hoped. Cornered on the ground, he quickly holds out one hand, twists his wrist to fling a Fire Arrow at Orc's chest as he reaches into his furisode simultaneously with the other to retrieve his pistol, cocking it back the second the flame leaves his fingertips.
If neither of these shots land, he knows it might as well be game over.
The Fire Arrow hits its mark and explodes onto the man's chest. Charred flesh and smoldering bits of a tank-top could be seen amid the flames. He shrieks in pain as the katana slips out of his fingers, but he -doesn't- stop. His momentum causes him to fall over Mokuba, and his hands jutted out to try and wrap around the boy's neck. Madness and death could be seen in the man's eyes, veins bulging on his face as he screams, "I'll strangle you to death!"
Yes!! For just a second, Mokuba thinks maybe this is it, maybe it's over.
And then those hopes are dashed.
His eyes go wide as the large man falls over him, and panic floods his veins. But his pistol is in hand, already cocked and ready as the massive hands wrap around his throat. He yelps, but tries so hard to keep his composure as much as possible despite the fear and the pain.
He can barely see what hes doing, but the close proximity gives him one advantage. And one shot.
Literally.
He raises arm, aiming the best he can at the head of the enraged Orc as he pulls the trigger
Bang! A visible hole could be seen through the man's chin, now dripping blood onto his neck. The light in the man's eyes fades. His grip turns lax. And then Orc's corpse collapses right over Mokuba. Maybe now that Mokuba's not fighting for his life could he hear once more the agonized wails from Menacing, clearly less in intensity than before - as though he too was slowly heading for Orc's fate from the blow he received.
The shot is deafening.
For a moment, everything seems to happen in slow motion.
Mokuba wiggles out from under the hulking corpse. Only to collapse, sprawled out on the ground, shaking and struggling to catch his breath. Struggling not to cry or whimper.
As the ringing in his ears dies down, he can finally hear the sounds of suffering coming from Menacing. And fuck, he feels so sick.
Swallowing down bile, Mokuba pushes himself up from the ground, to his knees, and finally up on trembling legs.
"this game fucking sucks," he complains to himself and picks up his katana, sluggishly approaching what's left of Menacing where the blow had tossed him.
Menacing...has seen better days. His left upper arm and hand which the sledgehammer collided with looked like it was broken in multiple places. His left chest also looked visibly caved and sucked in with every breath he took - a flail chest. Blood dribbled through the man's nose and mouth, his cough interrupting his screams as he desperately tried to stop himself from drowning in it.

A bullet is visibly heard chambering into a pistol, even amidst Menacing's noises. And it doesn't take much to figure out where the noise came from. Near the mailbox where Menacing is, the missing member is Glasses pointing a pistol shakily towards Mokuba.
His face clearly has signs of burns, and he's missing half his hair. Though the damage is not nearly as bad as what a minature explosive should've done - guess that had to figure how to cap the Game Rating to M somehow. The man, devoid of his glasses, sways and stumbles slightly, but he made sure to keep the gun pointed in Mokuba's general direction.
All he registered while recovering from his concussion was Menacing getting slammed into a mailbox and now crying in agony - and Orc getting in close and dying for it.
He doesn't see Mokuba's shaking legs from under the furisode he wore. All he sees is a killer in the dark of night, picking up his blade again like it's business as usual - quipping as though they were just an inconvenience for him.
And now that he's the only one left, it frightens him dearly.
"J-j-just want to talk. And I'll leave quietly," Glasses coughes out the ash and blood he can still taste, "Who are you? And what do you want?"

oh look it’s another Captain Laserhawk discussion, who’d have thunk it.
This time I want to go into detail about something which has been bugging me for a while and which I’ve yet to get a decent explanation for. The eternal question of WHO WAS PHONE?
More specifically, who was it who messaged Rayman to direct him to seek out Bullfrog at the courthouse?
Spoilers and discussion under the cut:
So, the general consensus amongst fans and viewers falls into 2 camps of who the mysterious voice was. People seem to think it was either the board of Directors who control Rayman and Eden (who we will call The Templars here just because it fits in universe), and the other half say it was The Warden aka Sarah Fisher acting on her own volition without the knowledge of her fellow Templars. People base this seemingly on the fact the call seemed to come from the Directors based on the image we see on Rayman’s screen matching those from his precious conversations.
Personally, I think neither of these options make any sense.
Firstly the Templars. Their plan seems to be (from the view of people who assume the message is from them) is that it’s a trap to lure Rayman to Red so they can capture him. This is RIDICULOUS and such a convoluted and messy plan. If the Templars wanted to capture Rayman they didn’t need to lure him out of his apartment with some vague message. He was alone and vulnerable in his apartment wasting away on booze and cocaine. And you know FOR SURE Eden has cameras trained on their mascot boy at all times of the day. The idea they would need some ridiculous trap to capture him is ludicrous.
Moreover I don’t believe the Templars even knew where Rayman was going when he went to see Bullfrog. When Red arrives he says ‘I've been looking everywhere for you’. Why would he say this if luring Rayman to Bullfrog was the Templar’s plan? If it was their plan why wasn’t Red in the room with Bullfrog to capture Rayman immediately? They didn’t need to leave him to have some long, mind opening convo with Bullfrog; if anything that made things exponentially worse for them as it was the straw that broke Rayman enough to become Ramon and kill them all (which again, the Templars are SURPRISED BY).
So no, I don’t believe the ‘seek the frog’ message came from the Templars.
But what about Sarah Fisher?
Again we have to think what her motivation is for pointing Rayman in the direction of Bullfrog. What does she have to gain from doing this? Sarah wanted access to the Wasteland VR setup, and if Eden launches its attack on the Wasteland it could destroy that. She wanted to get to Marcus Holloway and seize control of the system.
Rayman does not factor into her plan in any way. Neither did Bullfrog. She had Laserhawk and that was part of her key to get to Holloway. Everyone else was expendable.
‘But maybe she wanted Rayman to take out the rest of the Templars!’
How would she be able to predict that?! She would have had to know EXACTLY what Bullfrog was going to say to Rayman, how it would affect Ray’s psyche, assume Red would blow his mission to capture Rayman, and assume Rayman had access to enough firepower and skill to get to the Templars and kill them. THERE WAS LITERALLY NO WAY SHE COULD PREDICT ANY OF THAT.
Hell, she got LUCKY that Dolph had a change of heart and attempted to return to the city to save Bullfrog, and in turn he ran into the army heading to the Wasteland and wrecked them all in spite of her attempts to sabotage his robot parts. If he had stayed in the VR beach paradise or had died being crushed by Red in his mech the army would have swarmed the facility and EVERYONE WOULD HAVE PROBABLY DIED.
Sarah’s plan is purely based on luck and the fact that Marcus showed mercy to her. The idea she was a puppet master for a completely random set of events surrounding her goal is ridiculous. Sure it worked out perfectly for her in the end as the only surviving Templar but I still refuse to believe she planned for that. Her ultimate end goal was the VR facility, not power over the Templars. Once she had the VR facility she would have found a way to take out her fellow Templars without Ramon's help.
So if it wasn’t Sarah Fisher or the Templars then WHO WAS PHONE?
Thankfully we have some suggestions which actually make sense in the grander scheme of the world, but they do rely on a little theory crafting which sets up for S2.
For me there are 3 possible people who could have been on that call posing as the Templars.
1 - Marcus Holloway
2 - Sam Fisher
3 - Alex Taylor
Marcus Holloway is an easy one. As a master Hacker who has been breaking into Eden’s systems for decades I can imagine he has some methods of getting into the systems and pretending to be whoever he wants to be. The only reason he didn't do it sooner is that Rayman was constantly protected by Eden so any attempts to get to him would have been pointless. But after his TV freakout and being replaced it's a perfect time for Marcus to get to him and try and undermine the Templar's control.
'Oh but how would Marcus know about any of what happened with Rayman if the Templars just replaced him?'.
How would Marcus know about anything that happened with Dolph, Alex, Sarah, the Ghosts or anything else the happened in Eden if he wasn't there? He's a master Hacker, we can assume he has ways.
But why? I'm assuming primarily because using Eden's own propaganda pawn to undermine them is wildly poetic to Marcus. Maybe there is some empathy for Rayman here but much like Sarah he had no idea to what lengths Rayman/Ramon's mental breakdown would go. It worked out for him in the end though with the Templars being massacred.
Sam Fisher relies a little more on speculation. In the post credits scene of the final episode we see Dolph chatting to Sam in a digital void. There is some suggestion that the world we are seeing is not real. A Matrix world with reset abilities. This would explain a lot of things which could easily have been deaths turning out to be fine (Red being a clear example, also Dolph being shot at point blank range by Alex and surviving).
If Sam does have some kind of 'overseer' position this gives him access to far more information than anyone else. He could foresee the only way out for Bullfrog being at Rayman/Ramon's hands as Dolph was too far away and everyone else was dead. A little bit of manipulation of Rayman's fragile psyche in this matrix world would be easy for someone with a birds eye view that Sam could have.
But this is PURE SPECULATION.
As is the idea that Alex Taylor is responsible...seeing as he's dead. But before he died he took over most of Pagan Min's men and their connections. Either he set up the plan to be enacted in the event of his death or he has some similar kind of setup Sam has. After all, Alex's opening of the dimension X portal allowing the Rabbids in is what lead to Rayman's freak out at Red on TV, leading to his replacement. Alex seems to have some grander picture in mind for Eden before his death, and as violent and ridiculous as it is it does tie into his desire for chaos. The shaking up of the entire Eden system seems to reach beyond just screwing with the populace. Much like Marcus, the concept of using Rayman against the Templars would be part of the complete chaos Alex is looking for. With the Templars dead there is a power vacuum.
I know this one is a bit of a stretch but to be brutally honest I'll accept Alex toying with things from beyond the grave before I accept that the Templars sent Rayman to Bullfrog in an attempt to contain him XD
So yeah, those are my ridiculously long thoughts regarding the WHO WAS PHONE mystery. You are welcome to wildly disagree with me or point out my lack of logic as you see fit XD Also point out if I missed some important plotpoint :3
Heck there's an argument to be made that the message came from someone we've not met yet, or another member of the Templars working alone, but we have nothing to confirm this yet. Hopefully if we get a season 2 all will be revealed!

Many of Tuesday morning's papers carry the surprising news, announced by national rail carrier VR late on Monday evening, that all long-distance train traffic will be cancelled on Tuesday due to "safety reasons".
Tampere-based Aamulehti carries an STT article to report that damage was observed on the wheels of some rolling stock on Sunday, leading VR to begin carrying out a wider inspection of the track network.
According to VR on Tuesday, overnight inspections pinponted the defects, described as bumps, in the track.
"This decision [to shut down traffic] was made for safety reasons. We are working non-stop together with the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency so that the fault can be located and traffic can be safely re-started as soon as possible," Aamulehti quotes VR's long-distance transport director Piia Tyynilä as stating in a company press release.
The statement adds that VR will provide further updates on Tuesday as to when rail traffic will return to normal.
The company also said that political strike by rail workers, which halted traffic nationwide on Monday, also caused delays to the inspection process.
Finland's highly-educated underclass
Helsingin Sanomat reports the findings of a University of Jyväskylä doctoral thesis, which is titled The Working Underclass: Highly educated migrants on the fringes of the Finnish labour market.
Kenyan student Quivine Ndomo's journey towards her doctoral research began in 2016 when she discovered that three of her compatriots, all with university qualifications, could only secure jobs in Finland as cleaners or newspaper couriers, according to the paper.
Her research argues that immigrants in Finland, especially those coming from African countries, are an "underclass" in the Nordic country and that prospective employers use the Finnish language as an excuse not to hire them.
"It should be made clear to those who come here that if you want to stay and work here, study Finnish. And the studies should include several mandatory Finnish courses," Ndomo tells HS.
Ndomo herself faces the very challenges she writes about in her thesis, noting that she was recently passed over for a position she considered herself perfectly qualified for, as her Finnish language skills were not up-to-par.
This experience has led Ndomo to consider her own future in the country.
"I love Finland, but I am ambitious and I will go where I can continue my career," she tells the paper.
Strikes hit daycare centres
As Finland's "superweek" of political strikes enters its second day on Tuesday, tabloid Iltalehti carries a handy day-by-day guide to how the walkouts will impact everyday life.
Tuesday will see daycare centres and other early child education services close their doors in several towns and cities across the country, and they will not open again until Thursday.
Iltalehti lists the affected areas: Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Tampere, Turku, Oulu, Jyväskylä, Kuopio, Joensuu, Pori, Rovaniemi, Kauniainen, Mustasaari and Vaasa.
The strike affects both private and public sector daycare centres.
Some companies operating in the food sector, such as bakeries and food processing plants, may also be closed on Tuesday, IL notes.
