Roleswap AU except Akechi and Joker are childhood friend soulmates and doing their own thing with Futaba.
Meanwhile, Haru, with her natural proficiency with psychic abilities, is forcibly pushed to awaken her persona Wu Zetian, and becomes Noir, Shido's personal assassin and her father's bargaining chip. Haru's psychic power revolves around hypnosis and brainwashing. It basically opens the target's mind to suggestion, and when needed, she can break them as well. Unlike Call of Chaos, which awakens the target's ugliest hidden impulses, Haru's power directly suppresses their ability to think for themselves. If used repeatedly, it will slowly turn the target unresponsive to outside stimuli, their mind completely atrophied. She had to work with Dr. Maruki who was selected to nurture Haru's powers. The first choice would've been Isshiki Wakaba, but her lab mysteriously caught fire after a failed experiment exploded...
Deluding herself into thinking that she was serving justice, she aided Shido and her father in taking down corrupt and abusive men. If these men turned out to also be competition, then it must simply be a coincidence. Unlike in-game Akechi, who seems to not really use his powers outside of orders, Haru is a prolific power abuser in an almost Phantom Thief fashion. She does this out of genuine wish to help, but a tiny part of her is also using this as a way to maintain her illusion of justice. Like, look, I'm helping! All of this is for justice! Would a horrible assassin desperate for her father's approval do this? Only, the problem is that her power is not permanent, so she either has to make the decision of using her power again and again, or let the power fade and the target will revert to their original ways.
When she first learns about the Phantom Thieves, she's intrigued. She always felt alone in her justice, but now, there are more people using the Metaverse and persona powers for justice. This is so exciting! Except she meets them and immediately hates their guts because all she sees are nicer, less unhinged versions of herself. They're untainted and naive and sincere in all the ways she isn't (or so she thinks). They make it so so clear that Haru is delusional in her view of justice, that it's all nonsense she's making up to cope. They never murdered anyone (Goro says lol), never felt their victim target's mind break in their hands. Shido had ordered her to destroy them. She was hesitant at first, but now she inexplicably wants to do exactly that.
(Dirty their purity and break their innocence, like Haru had to break herself)

one of the post-p5 headcanons I can most enthusiastically get behind is akiren getting more involved in tokyo’s drag scene after the metaverse collapses. it honestly just seems like a natural progression for him after “losing” the ability to be joker. he’s got a need to find that power inside him again, and drag would be the perfect way for him to experience the rush of adrenaline that stealing hearts and being the leader of the phantom thieves gave him.
akiren is interesting because he really is simultaneously self-assured and self-sacrificing. being joker is an act, but it’s an act that comes from a genuine place inside him. interesting combo! doing drag would let him wear a mask purely for his own benefit. he’d probably learn more about who he is as his own person while he’s at it— judging from the lyrics of his theme, we know that’s something he struggles with. even if he takes wearing a mask too far sometimes, we know akiren lives for the thrill of performance. he’d kill it as a queen.
lala would be his drag mother. I see it all in my head. he’d absolutely eat it up. he’s got such a gender, and I want him to use it!

Transfem! Akira!! Just like akechi post, headcanons under the cut!
-transitioned just before coming to Tokyo, still in voice training and early in taking estrogen
-hasn’t experience too many HRT changes, but has a simple skin routine they’re consistent with
-very close to girl phantom thieves, but otherwise very quiet. People consider her to be the delinquent princess of shujin academy because of her record
-wears a lot of street fashion outside of school to feel better with her dysphoria
-always knew she was bisexual, had a harder time learning she was trans
-in the metaverse, her confidence SKYROCKETS and will push herself to her limits just to stay there longer to relish in the joker persona
-not much of a talker but a HUGE listener. Generally, you can tell she’s listening when her hands are close to her chest and she’s smiling
-gives. Really bad advice. Like super bad.
-very physically affectionate. Always hugging on everyone or leaning on them
-kept akechi's tie after the boiler room. Uses it as a hair bow.

So, while I was playing Reload (great game 10/10), I was brainstorming about using the android that kills Shadows in P5. So, I came up with an AU where Akechi is an Anti-Shadow weapon. Well he is inspired by one.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Of course, there are fanarts (better than mine) or fics where he is that Anti-Shadow weapon, but I have never really seen anything dwelling into lore that much? I just saw the concept being thrown around or Phantom Thieves just being a part of Shadow Ops (feel free to correct me, I haven't been everywhere in Persona fandom ehsjskks) So here's my take, which contains spoilers for Persona 5 (obvs) and some angsty themes:
Spoilers obvs!!!!!!!!
-Wakaba killed Akechi during one of Metaverse's experiments (oops),
-she felt so guilty about it that she secretly retrieved his consciousness from there,
-using plans for an Anti-Shadow weapon
by the Kirijo Group that she somehow got hold of (maybe she stole it, maybe she just got it idc), she rebuilt him as an android and put his consciousness there (although it exists with the programming, because she wasn't that knowledgeable about robotics - she was a cognitive psicentist at heart, after all),
-was it a good decision? idk but Wakaba kinda strike me as a scientist who would think that was an excellent idea,
-Akechi disagrees, he hates her for that because now he is forever stuck as a thing that is forced to listen to orders (being forever stuck in one body also doesn't feel right I suppose),
-but they have a neutral and professional relationship that revolves around exploring the Metaverse (Akechi can still use Loki, just like Aigis can use Palladion),
-Conspiracy, learning about this, hacks Akechi-android to use him as a weapon in the Metaverse (so he still is a Black Mask, although everything is done completely without his input),
-Akechi then kills Wakaba, which she anticipated and before that she had given Futaba a copy of her research and Akechi’s plans - although she said to never use them without a really serious reasoning,
-yada, yada, yada we're in original game timeline,
-Akechi as a Detective Prince doesn't exist,
-but he does exist like a obstacle in Palaces/Mementos that hunts down the Thieves,
-let’s just say they would be able to fight him back around the time their lvl in Okumura's Palace,
-Morgana doesn't know wtf Akechi is,
-Joker has some suspicion that Akechi isn't just a machine, but he doesn't really voice it at that point,
-when they are in Futaba's palace, on one of the wall arts (the one where Wakaba works on something and Futaba is begging for her attention) they notice that Wakaba was working on one of Akechi's parts (probably his arm idk),
-so they ask Futaba (post-change of heart) what’s going on, but she has to do research,
-when Futaba joins the team, Akechi always targets her (due to his resent to Wakaba),
-they finally learn what Akechi is and that he is malfunctioning (y'know being a serial killer weapon) due to being hacked, so they decide to help him (bonus point if they can get him on their team),
-so in Okumura palace arc they set on changing the CEO heart and capturing Akechi (who is also there, because he has to get rid of Okumura),
-during the fight in that Palace, Futaba manages to free him from Conspiracy’s control (bonus point if he awakes to Robin Hood),
-when they get him back to Leblanc's attic, Futaba repairs him (because I feel like she would be into robotics just like her mom) and they learn that even if he is on their side now, he doesn't remember who he really was (even first his name, only Akechi).
So, my AU would revolve around Akechi re-learning about his past (he can bond over his amnesia with Morgana) and being as human as possible.
Tumblr media
I have a few ideas that I probably will draw (or write, who knows), but that's all for now. Thanks for coming for my ted talk.
Bonus comic - very messy, sorry:

Been doing some thinking about the characterization implications of Makoto's aikido black belt, and the interesting contrast between aikido and her Metaverse weapon.
Like, to start with, the fact that Makoto knows aikido specifically says a lot. Aikido is extremely not an aggressive martial art. It's a little difficult to translate something like a martial art name from Japanese into English, but the one I always heard was "way of the harmonious spirit". I'm not going to do a deep dive on it, just summarize a couple of the most relevant points, but it was created by a war veteran who was inspired by a spiritual experience. His guiding concept was like... self-defense without hurting the aggressor.
(Disclaimer: I obviously only studied in one school! Although all of aikido shares the same overall principles, there may be some schools out there that are extra-aggressive. However, given that we lack any indication of what style of aikido Makoto studies, I would guess that it's not anything wild or unusual.)
Aikido focuses on using an attacker's energy and momentum against them. You learn throwing and pinning techniques to defend against various attacks, but specifically techniques where you can pull back before you cause serious damage. You don't learn barehanded strikes at all, except as much as you need to know to initiate fake attacks to help your partners practice. And you don't need to know how to throw a really good, dangerous punch for that. I had years of aikido training and I still sure as fuck can't. At more advanced levels, you start to learn other things such as weapons forms, but even those aren't really attacks. You just perform a ritualized series of movements against imaginary enemies.
It's not the world's most practical martial art, to be honest, although someone who's really skilled can get good use out of it. If Makoto claims she can use it to ensure her safety, she must be that good, because I expect she's too practical to delude herself with false confidence. More importantly! It takes years to get a black belt, like it does in any martial art. So little middle-schooler Makoto looked at all the martial arts on offer in Tokyo, which I imagine is pretty much every martial art on earth, and decided aikido was the one for her.
It suits her, and continues to suit her up through the end of canon. She's not Ryuji; outside the Metaverse, she's not going to start a physical fight. But she's perfectly willing to finish one. Given her family history and personal values, it makes sense that she'd be drawn to the idea of defending herself, but not in a way that causes unnecessary pain. It's also considered a good martial art for women, due to the lack of emphasis on size and strength.
But pre-canon Makoto is also very repressed, very focused on being composed and perfect. Aikido promises self-defense and an outlet, but nothing too aggressive. Nothing that looks too loud or rebellious. Martial arts are male-dominated practices; by studying one at all, she's already being a little bit out of the ordinary. Best not to stand out too much.
And then she gets into the Metaverse.
It's easy to think that the brass knuckles and the punching make use of her martial arts background, but they don't. At all. Makoto has absolutely not learned how to strike with her fists to cause damage during her training, at least not like people envision. If Atlus wanted to go that route, they'd have given her a karate backstory or something similar.
And if they wanted her to know aikido and wanted to carry her training into the Metaverse, they could've given her a staff, which she will have learned forms for during aikido training. The other classic aikido weapons are already taken, or at least the non-wooden versions are lol. But no one else among the Thieves uses a staff. Makoto the warrior monk with her jo staff and her Pope persona would be a coherent design.
But Atlus didn't do that either. Instead, they gave her brass knuckles (among other fist weapons, I know, I know) and let her punch the shit out of her enemies. That's not merely unlike her training; it's in total opposition to the core tenets of aikido. No "way of the harmonious spirit", no self-reflection, no pacifism. She's going to beat up Shadows for justice.
In short, the brass knuckles are an emblem of her rebellion within the Metaverse. They come from the same place as her spiky leather outfit and motorcycle Persona. In the real world, student council president Makoto isn't afraid of anyone hitting her or grabbing her because she can put them on the ground before they can blink. Like I said, I think aikido suits her really well, even without her pre-canon baggage. But in the Metaverse, Queen doesn't bother to wait for an attack. She hits first. <3

P5R Collab Chapter 2 Summary
(last updated 3/31/25)
Usual disclaimer: Please keep in mind this game still has no official English translation, so this summary uses a mix of what happens visually, what I understand of the Japanese dialogue, and Google translate for the Chinese text, in order to get the broader picture here. This will be focused on summing up everything that happens overall, without getting into a line-by-line translation.
Contrary to this blog’s name, this post is going to have as little speculation as possible, and stick to confirmed facts.
This post will cover the second chapter of the P5R Collab, also called the “Laboratory Chapter 2”.
Part 2-1
Tumblr media
This part picks up immediately where the first chapter ended, with the boy in the red mask accusing them of being careless and dropping their guard in the Metaverse. The others are all surprised to see him, with Violet making a noise and Mona asking why he's here. Cattle picks up that the others seem to recognize this boy, and ask who he is. Joker quickly assures Cattle that he's not an enemy, and somewhat hesitantly agrees when Wonder asks if that means he's a friend of theirs.
Cattle says it seems like there's more to the story, and the boy laughs, explaining it's a bit complicated, but they're currently working together. Joker seems a bit troubled by this response, and Cattle agrees it must be complicated. The boy then introduces himself as Crow, saying he's made a deal with the Phantom Thieves and they're temporarily cooperating. He then asks who Wonder and Cattle are, and Wonder catches him up on everything up to this point.
Having heard all this, Crow immediately finds it interesting that they've been working together despite coming from different worlds. Violet then gets his attention, and after a moment, Crow realizes who she is, surprised. Violet confirms, starting to say her real last name, then corrects and introduces herself with her codename instead. Crow is slightly puzzled by this, saying "Violet? But, you..."
He goes quiet, and Mona jumps in, saying they won't reveal each others' real names to the other world's Phantom Thieves. Crow understands, and Violet mentions she never noticed Crow has a Persona as well. She starts to ask about his deal with the Phantom Thieves, but he laughs, and calls it a long story, doubling down when Wonder tries to ask as well, and summarizing it as him "pursuing his own justice".
Crow then asks the others to fill him in on what they've learned about this world, but Mona insists on one more question first: how'd he get here? Crow apologizes, and says that on his way back from their exploration of Sae-san's Palace today, he noticed something strange on his phone (Cattle asks about "Sae-san", and Mona brushes it off as the Palace they're currently infiltrating). Mona asks if he means something with the MetaNav, and Crow confirms, explaining that since it hasn't done that before, he got off his train and investigated, finding it led him towards Odaiba. When he got near the construction there, the glitching got worse, and when he tried to use the MetaNav, it brought him here. Violet is unsurprised that Crow also came from Odaiba.
Wonder asks how he got *here*, specifically, and Crow explains that he couldn't find an exit, so he went into this building to look around. That's when he stumbled onto them fighting the shadows. Violet remembers she needs to thank him for his help, and Crow says he has some experience fighting in the Metaverse. Hearing this, Violet decides to call him "Crow-senpai", which slightly throws him off, though he accepts it. Mona mutters about how many senpai she has, and Violet reflects on how she's surrounded by senpai here. The others seem a bit awkward about this, but brush it off.
Back on topic, Cattle confirms that Crow came here because the MetaNav glitched. Crow then asks if they've found a way out yet, since they've done this before, but Mona explains that while before there's always been a Core to steal... Cattle finishes, they haven't sensed a Core anywhere in here. Instead, they tried following the powerful auras they sensed and fighting the shadows giving them off, which eventually led them here. But, as Crow points out, nothing happened.
Crow then asks if this is Violet's first time here, and Violet explains that yes it is, but they went to a similar Palace once. Crow understands, and then summarizes the information as: in the past, they've always been brought here with their full teams, but this time, it was just them, plus Violet and Crow. Mona agrees, but Cattle points out that this may have been because they've always entered the Metaverse as a group, when doing so intentionally. Nonetheless, Crow says this proves that it's possible to be transported to these spaces even without their full groups present, and even people who aren't members of a group of phantom thieves, like himself and Violet, can be brought here. On top of that, it seemed like it was guiding him here. In other words, this situation is an abnormality, and they'll have to think outside the box to escape.
Violet is impressed by his reasoning, and Crow smiles, saying he is a detective. Cattle is shocked by this, and Violet starts to explain he's a famous detective, Joker adding that he's the second Detective Prince- but Crow cuts them off, reminding them they just told him they're not supposed to be revealing anyone's identities here. Getting back on topic, he points out that Violet and himself are outliers in this situation, and wonders why they, specifically, were led here. He thinks if they can solve that, it may help them figure out how to escape.
Cattle is still a bit hesitant, pointing out that detectives are usually the rivals of phantom thieves. Mona says that was the case before now, but they really are working together. Crow confirms he opposes the Phantom Thieves' methods, and this is just to apprehend a specific culprit. Wonder asks about this, and Crow says that there must be some differences between his world and theirs. Joker confirms that in Wonder's world, "that incident" never occurred. Crow is unsurprised, and says it'd actually be complicated to explain, then, but he's investigating the mastermind behind a case with the Phantom Thieves. Joker agrees that Crow's investigation skills come in handy, and Crow thanks him, saying he's also been inspired by their ideas.
Violet stares at them for a moment, then says she's been wanting to ask, but the two of them have a good relationship, right? Crow and Joker both look back at each other, surprised, but say nothing. Violet then becomes worried she asked a weird question, but Mona says it's just hard to say, since they're on opposite sides, as a detective and a thief. Cattle laughs, and points out that it wouldn't be wrong to say they get along, though, and for now they're all teammates. Crow says they've exchanged information, so there's no reason to stand around talking, and they should get going. Cattle and Mona agree, Mona mentioning that there are new areas to explore now that they defeated that powerful shadow.
They run back through the not-Palace, reaching a door they weren't able to open before, which leads into a warehouse area.
Violet comments that it's a big area, and Crow warns them there may be several entrances and exits, so they'll need to be careful of where they're going. Cattle adds that enemies may be lurking as well.
Part 2-2
Tumblr media
They explore the warehouse, continuing to encounter some puzzle mechanisms similar to the ones in Akashi's Palace.
Part 2-3
Tumblr media
More warehouse exploration and Akashi's Palace puzzle mechanisms, before eventually they encounter another powerful shadow. Crow asks, and Cattle says he doesn't know why there are so many of them in this place. Crow suggests they might be like guardians, if they're everywhere, and Mona brushes this aside, saying they need to beat this one to proceed further.
After the fight, Crow says that was indeed a powerful enemy. Violet is impressed that Crow didn't even break a sweat, and Crow says that even if an opponent is powerful, it's fine as long as you target its weakness or control the situation. Wonder compliments him, and Crow says Wonder's powerful as well. Mona mutters that he's a bit condescending, but his combat ability is truly admirable, especially since he just recently awakened his Persona. Crow smiles and replies that he'll take that as a compliment.
Hearing that Crow also only just awakened his Persona, Violet decides she needs to work harder, and rushes ahead... only to trip and fall. Wonder helps her up, and Violet apologizes for being too eager. Mona laughs and says her enthusiasm's good, but she shouldn't waste her energy, and Joker adds that he knows she works harder than anyone else. Crow reminds her that they don't know when they'll be able to leave, so they shouldn't overexert themselves.
Violet thanks them all, and says she won't waste her energy, but she'll keep doing her best. Cattle smiles and says her momentum is good, so they should keep exploring. Mona, offended, accuses the "hooded monster" of stealing his lines again, but Cattle uncharacteristically apologizes without much fanfare. Mona expects a different response, and is thrown off, asking why he's not firing insults back like usual. Cattle doesn't seem to have noticed this until Mona pointed it out, and thinks for a moment, then angrily asks why a "stinky cat" would call him a hooded monster. Mona is just shocked he only noticed that now. The two argue, and Crow turns to Violet, joking about who's really wasting their energy now.
Part 2-4
Tumblr media
They seem to have proceeded further, when Violet stops. Cattle asks if she's okay, and Violet sounds out of breath as she insists she's fine, then reconsiders, realizing she doesn't need to keep being strong when she's surrounded by senpai she can rely on. She instead asks if they can take a little break, which everyone is fine with (Wonder can even say he's tired too, and Joker apologizes for not noticing she needed a minute). Crow asks if her fatigue is because she's not used to the Metaverse yet, and Violet says you can't fool a detective's eyes, asking if she can have a moment to say something. Cattle confirms he doesn't sense any shadows nearby, so they can sit down and chat for a bit. Crow adds that the rest of them should recover their strength, too.
Tumblr media
Once she's recovered a bit, Violet starts to talk, first noting that talking about "recovery" while stuck in the Metaverse feels strange. Mona says it'd be better if they could find a safe room, but he's glad she's feeling better. Cattle prompts her to share what she wanted to say earlier.
Violet explains she's been thinking about why she and Crow were led here. She could be wrong, and it's a little embarrassing to say, but she thinks it's her fault that everyone was dragged into this. She reminds them of earlier, when she said she's been wanting to "escape" her current situation, and she thinks it was this idea that brought her here, and everyone else just got pulled along. She got swept up in her "wish" to escape the real world. Mona is skeptical, but Crow points out it's not impossible- they all once thought that something like the Metaverse would be impossible, too. Cattle mutters "the desire to escape reality", and recalls his nightmare, admitting to himself that he may have subconsciously wanted to escape, too.
Violet continues that she doesn't think she actually has the power to do this all on her own, but she's probably the only one who wants an escape, so... she recalls the shadows here keep talking about "escape", and Mona recalls this as well. Violet guesses maybe her negative emotions connected to this place, and calls herself useless for not being brave enough to face things herself. Wonder thinks for a moment, then has two dialogue options that both assure her that's not strange. She and Cattle both react with surprise to his words.
Violet protests, saying she ignored things she needed to face. Shouldn't she take them head-on? Joker admits that he's also been running away, in a sense, to her surprise. He was falsely accused and couldn't defend himself, so he was forced to leave his home, and can't fight anything until he's escaped this. But there are some things you can only get from escaping. Mona grins and agrees, saying that running away could be said to be part of a phantom thief's job- to avoid getting caught, they have to keep making stylish escapes!
This seems to get through to Violet, and she realizes that escape, as both a feeling and an action, isn't wholly bad. Wonder supports this. Joker adds that accepting a bad situation without any resistance just kills your will, so if you aren't able to escape, you can't change anything. Crow also adds that it takes courage and strength to abandon the familiar, so escape is never simple. Violet thanks them all.
Crow then points out that, if the desire to escape is the key to the problem here, then since he was pulled in as well, he must be the same, right? Violet sheepishly explains that she didn't mean that at all, and she can't imagine him wanting to escape from something. Crow laughs, and says he was kidding. Cattle considers, and comments that "escape" is both a human desire to change the status quo, and a kind of hope, which sounds about correct here; they can refer to that collectively as the "desire to escape".
Violet reacts with surprise, to the others' confusion, and explains that until now, she never thought escape was also an option. She believed you need to face and deal with everything, but now she sees escape can be okay, too. Crow mutters, "Escape, huh?" and says he suspects Violet's guess may have been correct. He never felt like he was running away from something, but... maybe he was. Joker asks if he has any ideas, and Crow thinks about how to phrase it... then smiles, and says even if there is something, he's not telling them.
The others react awkwardly, and Mona says they've come this far, so he might as well tell them, but Crow reminds them they won't retain these memories when they leave, claiming there's no point in telling them anything in that case. Mona brushes it off, and says the most important thing is getting out of here, anyway. Cattle agrees, and says he senses a strong enemy ahead. Mona laughs, commenting that escape suits Cattle. The two start arguing again, and Wonder, watching this, notes that Cattle's been listless, but he seems full of energy now. Violet says she's been wanting to ask, but the two of them have a pretty good relationship, too, right? In unison, Cattle and Mona insist she's wrong. Crow says it's time to move on, and they proceed further in.
Part 2-5
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The group encounters a high-tech locked door, which requires a password to open. After some more exploration, they come across a room where a screen turns on by itself.
Tumblr media
It says "Become happy... escape...", to their confusion. However, when they return to the locked door, it says "Toward the other side... of dreams...", and Crow suggests they may need to reply with a password to open it. Sure enough, Wonder tries saying "Become happy... escape..." in response, and it opens up. They proceed through the door.
Part 2-6
Tumblr media
They reach another large area, and Mona says that the deeper they go, the stronger the scent of a powerful shadow becomes. After more exploration and puzzles, they reach another password-locked door. This time, they know how it works, and decide to keep looking for the powerful shadow and try to uncover the password simultaneously.
They end up finding the next powerful shadow first, a Kali. They quickly discuss whether this is actually getting them closer to escaping- the consensus is that it seems like it is, since the general shadow aura here is weakening, but it's also their only idea right now, anyway- and then attack the shadow.
After defeating it, Cattle says there should only be one powerful shadow left now. Violet realizes that means they should be coming up on the final battle here, then, and admits she's a little nervous. Joker assures her that as long as they work together, they can defeat any opponent. He then checks whether Crow's ready to go, and Crow replies that he is, but...
Mona asks him what it is, but he brushes it off, saying they should continue onward.
Part 2-7
Tumblr media
Cattle and Mona explain that the final powerful shadow seems to be on a lower level; Mona wonders how it got down there. Crow theorizes there must be another route to get down there, which they haven't found yet. He suggests they try grappling up into the rafters not too far above them, and see if that leads them anywhere new. Cattle likes that idea, and they do so.
At one point, they break a window in order to jump through it, which attracts a shadow. They use this as a chance to ambush it, then proceed. They eventually reach another room where a screen turns on by itself, this time saying "Freedom... from pain...". Realizing this must be another password, they head back to the door...
Tumblr media
... Only to find a maze of electric fences have appeared between them and the door, requiring them to solve a puzzle and shut the fences off before they can return to the door.
After doing so, they reach the door, which says "Freedom... from reality...". Violet and Crow are uncomfortable with the viewpoint that this door seems to be enforcing with its phrase and password, but regardless, Wonder repeats "Freedom… from pain…", and it opens.
Part 2-8
Tumblr media
They find themselves in another new area, which Violet comments is kind of creepy and unsettling. Cattle wonders about the theme of the Palace that this place is based on, but Mona says overthinking won't get them anywhere, and they should just keep moving- but carefully, because the shadows around here are getting stronger.
As they explore further, they find a third password-locked door. They later reach a room that seems to be a dead end, though Cattle thinks there's something strange about it.
Part 2-9
Tumblr media
They've searched the room, but can't figure out what's strange. Crow suggests they might have overlooked something- perhaps a secret passage? Sure enough, looking up, Cattle spots a vent they can crawl through, and they proceed that way.
Further exploration unlocks a previously-locked room, which turns out to be another password room. This time, the screen says "The answer is... acceptance...". When they return to the third door, it says "Escape is... truth..." Violet mutters about the word "escape" coming up again, but Mona warns her not to overthink it; they need to keep moving. Wonder repeats "The answer is… acceptance…", and the door unlocks. Cattle suggests they take a brief rest before continuing.
Part 2-10
Tumblr media
On the other side of the door, Cattle says the aura is here, and he thinks it's probably coming from whatever formed this place. Mona adds that it stinks, but seems like a really formidable opponent. Crow asks if they think the shadow ahead is essentially this place's Core, and Cattle replies that he still doesn't sense a regular Core, or any other strong enemies, so he believes that's the case.
Wonder starts to lead everyone in, but Crow asks him to wait for a moment, as he needs to confirm something. Crow then turns to Violet, and asks if she can do this. Violet is slightly confused, but then realizes he's asking because... Crow finishes, when they defeat this powerful enemy, they may finally be able to escape. But isn't that the opposite of what she wants?
Violet flinches, but then more determinedly, replies that there's no problem. It's true that she's been trying to escape from a painful reality, immense pressure, and maybe even more than that, but now she knows that it's okay to escape, too. Before, she thought escape wasn't an option, but now she understands it's alright, and she's stronger for it. Even when they return to the real world, she won't be defeated.
Joker seems pleased, and Wonder notes that he gets a strong sense of vitality from Violet now. Crow says it seems she's figured it out, and Mona, smiling, says seeing her so energetic brightens everyone else's mood. Cattle comments that having escape as an option seems to grant courage, and Wonder guesses that Cattle's referring to himself, too. Cattle, however, becomes defensive, insisting he's been full of energy from the start.
Mona calls him out as a terrible liar, asking if he really hasn't noticed how off he's been acting. Cattle doubles down that he hasn't been weird at all. Crow says they don't need to embarrass anyone by hitting a sore spot, and Cattle, still worked up, complains that they're not even listening to him, he just said he's fine!
Cattle then decides to move things along, saying they should focus on fighting the enemy ahead. Crow laughs, and comments that's a clumsy way to try to hide his embarrassment. Mona, however, agrees that Cattle has the right idea, and warns everyone to be careful, as the place may begin to collapse once they beat this shadow.
Tumblr media
With this in mind, they charge ahead, reaching the shadow. Crow says he understands now what they meant, as this shadow feels completely different from the ones they've fought before. Joker teasingly asks if he's scared, but Crow says he's not in the slightest, and should be the one asking Joker if he's ready. Joker says he is, and the fight begins.
The fight starts with the shadow- Byakhee- asking why they're fighting, "I- We, are doing this for your sakes...". Crow wonders what it means, but it just continues, "Accept the will of your own selves!"
It then summons four weaker copies of itself, and the fight begins. There are two different kinds of copy- some resist half the elements in the game, while the others resist the other half of the elements in the game- and power up the main Byakhee if the player doesn't defeat an equal number of both types at once. The main Byakhee resummons any defeated copies on its turn, in addition to its normal turn.
After the fight, Violet, out of breath, says they did it. However, as Mona and Cattle point out, the not-Palace doesn't seem to be collapsing around them. The Byakhee, lying on the ground in front of them, says "Accept... it...", to everyone's surprise. Crow determines that they didn't quite finish it off, so he'll quickly deliver a finishing blow, but Joker stops him. The Byakhee, starting to flicker, but not fully dissipating like a normal shadow when defeated, continues, "If you... don't continue... to dream... then just... accept it... Accept... self-escape..."
Mona asks what it's talking about, but the Byakhee just insists they have to accept it. Cattle says it doesn't seem like they can communicate with it, and suspects that only a sliver of it remained after they defeated it. Joker repeats what the shadow said, thoughtfully. Violet wonders what it meant, and Crow deduces that it seems her idea was correct, though not fully so.
At the others' confusion, he explains that Violet initially thought escape was bad, but Wonder and Joker helped her realize that's not the case. However, based on what the shadow just said, he thinks there's more to it than this: "accepting self-escape" isn't just about acknowledging that it's okay to escape things, but accepting the self you want to escape from. Cattle rephrases this as allowing new desires to sprout within yourself, then realizes that in a sense, all the not-Palaces they've been to so far have been like that.
Wonder asks what he means, and Cattle explains they've all been about a strong desire for something. Both groups of Phantom Thieves have had a strong desire to cooperate and escape together. Joker agrees that sounds right, and Mona realizes that means that stealing the Cores wasn't the "correct" way to escape, then- did stealing the Cores force the not-Palaces to "unmerge" instead?
Cattle thinks he might be right, and suggests they try something: if this not-Palace is focused on the desire to escape, what happens if they accept that desire? Violet clarifies that he means accepting the selves they want to escape from, then goes quiet, and acknowledges she's been avoiding a lot of important things besides gymnastics, but that's also a part of her, and recognizing that she's avoiding an issue might be the first step to moving forward with it. She declares that she's willing to accept her past self that was always avoiding things, as well as her future self.
Cattle, similarly, admits that in "some corner of his heart" he may have also chosen escape, but he's willing to accept that self and new desires. He declares that he will save Wonder and the rest of their team from the nightmare he saw. Crow reacts to this, but says nothing. Wonder thinks to himself that escape is both the will to seek change, and the courage to move toward a brighter future, so the desire to escape may also be an important desire within himself.
Mona then calls out, pointing to the Byakhee, who says "Accepted..." and fades out properly. Crow says it sounds like they were judged as having "accepted" escape, and Joker agrees. Mona points out the not-Palace still hasn't collapsed, but Cattle says the strange feeling from the entrance has disappeared, so he thinks they can escape now. Violet says they should head there.
Tumblr media
Back at the entrance, Mona runs ahead and confirms the barrier's really gone, poking fun at "the tarsier" actually being correct "for once". Cattle takes offense, but they don't get into a fight. Violet says they should hurry and escape, then, but first, she bows and apologizes to everyone again that her desire to escape was the cause of all this. Cattle assures her it wasn't just her, as he had similar thoughts (though he's ashamed to admit it). Still, they all gained new insights and desires, so it worked out quite well. Violet thanks him.
Crow makes a thoughtful noise, and Wonder asks him what's up. Crow says that he was thinking about why this not-Palace may have formed, assuming that gaining a certain desire was truly what has allowed them to leave. If it is true, then what was the intention of the culprit behind this? The others react with surprise.
Mona admits he has a good point- for most of them here, this is their fourth time getting pulled into a Metaverse pocket like this, so it can't be a coincidence. Cattle mentions they've thought about this before, but couldn't figure it out. Crow points out that stealing a Core was the only way to escape the first three times, but this time, there wasn't a Core. So, were they all just strange phenomena until now?
Joker asks what he's getting at, and Crow replies that he's wondering if, originally, the culprit didn't realize stealing a Core would let everyone escape. So, this time, they either hid the Core, or it never existed in the first place, to prevent it from being stolen. Maybe, from the beginning, they were all expected to escape by gaining a certain desire, not by stealing a Core. Violet rephrases- whoever it is wanted all of them, and the rest of both the Phantom Thieves groups, to gain certain desires?
Crow admits he's not sure, and there's also another thing about these desires- do Wonder and Joker follow where he's going with this? Joker seems to, replying with a question: what happens when their world and Wonder's world share the same desires? In the past, they were both pulled in as they were about to enter the Metaverse to explore a Palace. Crow says he was thinking the same. Besides the Core, it seems like two worlds with some kind of similar desire were required to form these Metaverse pockets; in this case, it was the desire to escape.
Cattle agrees that thinking about it like that does make sense. Crow continues that, in that case, he suspects the culprit behind this may have had some other motive besides just making them gain certain desires. Violet asks what he means, and Crow gives "a need to keep their two worlds connected" as an example motive. The others react with surprise, and Mona asks why they'd want that. Crow says he hasn't figured that out yet, but if that is their motive, then the culprit's just succeeded, because the Metaverse pocket didn't collapse this time. Joker seems troubled to hear this. Crow admits that it's hard to deduce anything past that, as they'll lose their memories when they leave.
Violet's stomach then growls, and she apologizes. Crow laughs, saying it's fine, as everyone gets hungry, and they won't be staying here forever. That's as far as his theory goes, anyway. Mona suggests they get going, as this may be their own chance to leave. Cattle says he admires Crow's deduction skills, and asks if he wants to join their Phantom Thieves. Crow, surprised, asks him if he's really trying to recruit him at a time like this. Violet laughs, saying Cattle must have been making a joke.
Joker turns to Wonder, and thanks him for his help again this time, a sentiment which Wonder returns. Joker admits that there are some things he hasn't told the rest of them, and deep inside, he may also have had the desire to escape his current situation. Wonder is taken aback to hear this, surprised Joker of all people would say that. Joker says that Wonder's response makes him feel a bit braver. The two shake hands, and Joker explains that his team is currently infiltrating a Palace that resembles a casino, but he'd like to meet with Wonder again once they're done with it.
As the others walk towards the exit, Wonder considers a "casino Palace", and recalls his dream from the start of the game. Could it be that... Cattle pulls him out of his thoughts, asking him what he's doing.
Tumblr media
At the very entrance to the not-Palace, Violet recalls that she's going to forget her two new senpai when she leaves, which is a shame, considering everything they've done for her. Cattle says it's okay, because as long as they're destined, they'll see each other again. Mona comments on how this is the first time they've gotten to peacefully say goodbye, and Joker adds that they've always had to escape in a panic before. Crow reminds them that they can't relax too much, though, as this may be their only chance to escape. Cattle agrees.
Mona says he'll see them all next time, and Crow, looking away, mutters "see you next time, huh...?" to himself. Violet, Wonder, and Cattle are confused, but Mona and Joker notably are not. Crow brushes it off, and says he looks forward to seeing them next time, before bidding them farewell.
Tumblr media
Back in the real world, Wonder holds his phone, confused as to what he was doing. Ruferu says he looks dazed, and asks if there's something wrong with his phone. Wonder thinks to himself that there's nothing wrong with his phone... is he just imagining this weird feeling? He then pockets his phone.
Ruferu apologizes for worrying him, and tells him that he's completely calmed down now that they're in Shibuya. He finds it incredible that he was such a mess just a little while ago. Wonder, again thinking to himself, recalls that he took Ruferu to Shibuya to help him relax.
Ruferu continues that the tightness in his chest has completely vanished, and thanks Wonder, then realizes he's... actually kind of hungry. He wants to go get eggs and pork! Wonder reacts awkwardly, and Ruferu flaps his wings, demanding Wonder take him to Ashouken. Wonder nods lightly, Ruferu stows away in his bag, and they walk off.
The end popup says "Mission [Persona 5X Chapter ?] To Be Continued..."

hello! can I get a sort of crossover headcanons? Can I get the obey me brothers reacting to an akira kurusu! mc. They have the same experience with the metaverse and still have arsenal and can probably use arsene in devildom. Id like to see the brothers reacting to weird sexual tension they have with akechi and why their human is so infatuated with another human (akechi) who tried to literally kill them (it's platonic with the brothers and ig a background akeshu but with the mc as the leader of the phantom thieves ig)
This was such an unexpected request but a fun idea. I'm doing headcanons for all the brothers and how they react to learning all of this so hopefully it fulfills your request? Please enjoy. Spoilers for persona 5 and Obey me, set after lesson 16
Lucifer
Out of everyone, is the most understanding about the whole thing though even he has his questions
When you first arrived in the Devildom he already knew that you were a strange human but even he wasn't ready for Arsene to come to your side when you felt threatened
At first he believes this might cause trouble but it won't take long for him to realize how helpful your personas can be
Still expects his brothers to keep you safe but now he's more willing to believe you can handle yourself
That thought is thrown to the side the moment you tell him all about Akechi and what happened him the metaverse
What do you mean he shot you?! What do you mean you miss him!
Will scold you for being so reckless with your own life but won't deny that he feels a sense of pride knowing you rebelled against the corrupt world
He will ask all he can about your team and adventures, he also wants to know about your relationship with Akechi and how it ended
Not the most helpful but certainly someone you can lean on when the pressure becomes too much
Mammon
Is the most concerned about learning everything and he really doesn't plan to keep his mouth shut about it
From the moment he's told to keep watch of you Mammon is freaked out about everything happening in your life
Arsène nearly fights him day one and from then on he decides that you clearly need help surviving in this world
Don't tell him about Akechi right away or he will threaten to keep you locked up in the devildom to avoid anything bad from happening again
Even hearing about what you did as a phantom thief is a lot, sure at first he's all over it, i mean you make so much money from it but then he thinks about just how often you could have died
The more he thinks the worse it gets
Honestly after a few very very long talks about it he's willing to take you on little trips to the human world so you can go to the metaverse together but he's going to be your guard dog
Will never be willing to let Akechi near you after he learns you like him but is pretty cool with the rest of the thieves
All in all not bad but very worried if he's not around you
Leviathan
Honestly thinks its cool, worrying yes, but very cool in some ways funny in others
Everything you tell him sounds like something right from one of his animes and he NEEDS to know more
How did a lame human like you get to do all that awesome stuff, what do you mean you faked your own death? AND plan to fight the government? He wants in but not really
Gives you really good advice when it comes to planning actually, this man is the Grand Admiral after all
Will not help you at all with romance and is in fact very jealous that someone who wants you dead is more important than him but he's not gonna say that
Freaks out just a little (a lot) when he learns about everything you've already done and had to go through but is weirdly supportive
Finds animes that make him think of you so now you both have to watch them as a treat.
Overall is pretty okay with the whole thing and great to go to for planning
Satan
Pretty annoyed at first but thats too be expected getting to know you though he becomes fascinated in the life you've lived
It feels nearly impossible when he first learns the truth but seeing first hand proof really gets him on board
He's going to try and use your persona's for the anti Lucifer club so be ready for that
Hate the very idea of Akechi and will sold you for falling for someone like that, he's also somewhat (way too) worried about the types of people you make friends with
How are you not dead?? A valid question he regularly asks yet never gets a real answer for
Is brutally honest about everything, he pulls no punches and you will know how he feels when it comes to the life you've lives, truly a blessing and curse
Not very helpful but still reliable it's not like he wants you dead or anything so if his advice can keep you around then you have it
Asmodeus
Is the best person to go to about all of this. He wants to hear all the juicy gossip and can give you some advice on getting peoples trust
Tell him all the little details, come to him for help with your confidants Asmodeus is greatest for all things people
Sure most of it is subterfuge but it works out for everyone
He feels genuine sadness for you when he learns about the hardship you and your friends have been through and he really wants you to make up with Akechi
All of the brothers know what it's like to live in a world where people look down on you but Asmo is the most open about it, he understands
Just a good vibe, he's still gonna flirt and joke around but you have his support and backing whenever you need
Playing dress up with the persona's and you, whenever and wherever some of them are just so pretty
does find it a little funny that you just talk around with a bunch of illegal things to sell at some random pawnshop and will never stop mocking you
Beelzebub
Worries a good amount after learning about your life, humans aren't meant to do things like that, what if you get hurt?
He wishes you didn't have to go through such things but he's still going to root you on
Take you out to eat often, if you're doing all that fighting you need to keep your energy up
Will work out with you all the time, keeping you ready for any fight that's bound to pop up in the devildom
Very reassuring in his own way, he gets that life is stressful and you do so much yet get almost nothing return, he wants to change that
Learning about Akechi is a bad time for Beel
He's just sooo worried about you and what happened, really doesn't think it's a good idea to be involved with someone like that
Beel just wants to see you happy and safe, you're practically part of the family and one of his closest friends, if you ever need help you can lean on him
Belphegor
Gets a really good laugh out it, he's so judgemental about your choices but in a more joking way once you get to know him
He's kind of impressed that you made it this far, after all you fell for his trap yet managed to topple people who have been hiding their crimes for years?
Also wants to use you and your skills against Lucifer and will plan for hours on how to get you to join
Not really interested in your friends but if you start talking about them he listens attentively
Starts to worry when you tell him about the cop and Akechi though he's so down for you just fighting the government more or less
Reminds you to take breaks and no overwork yourself, it's easy to pull yourself too thin between this school and life plus everything with mementos
The moment he learns about what Akechi did he feels a little awful, it's not that different from his own plan and tactics he can't imagine how much it affected you
Honestly these things help him get closer to you, a way for you both to lean on each other and make up for the past
Hello, Hello! It's late I know but thank you to everyone who's waited and been patient with me. It really does mean the world. This fic wasn't fully what I'd been hoping for but I don't mind it. I hope that you like that and thank you so much for requesting it. I have one Bleach request and then my inbox is clear so if you want something feel free to ask. Also! I started physical therapy, I mentioned that I had been in an accident and now I've been getting help for it! I'll be taking care of myself and my family and I hope you all do the same. Stay safe everyone~ Lilly P.S It's my birthday today! I'm now 20 so that's cool

Sooo... bout that idea of "Maruki's palace but it's the setting of Princess Tutu" concept. I may have been obsessing over it and did a few concept sketches.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Explanations under the read more
The concept is simple: the ability to become a god changes Maruki's palace theme after the Christmas Actualization; instead of a laboratory, where experiments and uncertainty are used to find the answers, it's now a "Fairy Tale" where rule are certain and can be whatever the author wants them to be. In other words, I have an excuse to make the setting Gold Crown from Princess Tutu with P5 characters. Yes, this would place Maruki firmly in the role of Drosselmeyer...except with like the exact opposite intent. Upon entering the palace on 01/02, the royal trio end up trapped within a never-ending story, with a part of themselves scattered to avoid them from progressing. They have 32 days to realize something's up, seek out their missing "heart shards", and complete the palace. Along the way, they will encounter cognitions of other P5 characters (I haven't gotten that for into the details of that though). Personas I think shall be restricted because A) it's a god's palace he can do whatever he wants with his cognition's rules, and B) because I wanna :3
As said, in order to progress in the palace, the trio needs to find the missing pieces of themselves scattered throughout the palace. There are 3 shards total, ergo replacing the "Will Seeds" of the palace. This concept is meant to lend itself to a lot of character development. Remember that the story start on 01/02, meaning any third-semester plot points have not been revealed to the characters yet (hehehe, much potential angst, much wow). Order of shard discovery initially set for: Sumi -> Akechi -> Joker
Each of the three's ballet clothes are based on a simplified version of their metaverse outfits, meant to promote mobility and helps the artist maintain her sanity. Sumi is a shoo-in for the advanced classes. Her skill as a gymnast (regardless of the comparisons to her sister) are seriously good, and that's not even accounting for her metaverse outfit resembling a ballerina. Whether or not she stays in the advanced class due to her whole identity crisis in parallel or October 3rd is another matter. Ren isn't top of the class, but he's fairy decent himself thanks to tutelage from a certain gymnast confidant. Kid picks up on lots of things pretty quickly. But on the bright side, in Gold Crown he always gets to wear his Joker mask...and probably good on his metaverse identity's namesake along the way. You'd think Akechi wouldn't be the least experienced dancer of the three...but his battle style isn't exactly the most...graceful (especially in the edge-suit) and he definitely wouldn't have reached out to anyone for lessons and stuff. Also, having to deal with others being considerably better than him at something? He would hate it and it would be hilarious. Thus, somehow the rageball somehow has a parallel to a literal duck. Note that each of the trio is not a 1:1 ratio with any of Princess Tutu's main cast. For example, while Sumi is a sweetheart like Duck, the need to adjust her technique as she learns to be her own person parallel's Mythos, and her desire to initially keep Maruki's reality when she realizes what she would have to give up parallel's Rue's motivations. And that's just for one of them!
Also yes, since I'm a hopeless romantic when it comes to Princess Tutu, I swear I shall find a way to put in the underwater lake dance!!!
ANYWAY
That's all I have so far. What do folks think?

@martyslittleusedblog sent - (Part of me wishes Vee could get a chance to learn about the Cognitive World and the Phantom Thieves of Hearts gig, but I imagine that such information being divulged to her might either bring trouble or be the result of something really bad; IIRC, the Phantom Thieves (or at least the MC, Ryuji, and Morgana) did not seem thrilled when they entered the Cognitive World at the beginning of Strikers.)
Tumblr media
I sympathize and to be fair and it's not an idea that I'm definitively ruling out, but I simply prefer for our muses to develop more of a rapport before getting into any sort of Metaverse/Phantom Thief stuff, if any. As I've mentioned before, I've had many experiences with people godmodding or trying to force those types of plots on me so I'm a little bit more selective about writing them, something I am trying to work on - albeit on my own terms. Maybe we will get into Metaverse stuff down the line with Ryuji and Vee but for now, i simply enjoy our threads as they are and I'd prefer for them to continue getting to know each other - in the future, though, we could potentially revisit this topic.

The past five years have seen the travel industry undergo a seismic shift, shaped by unforeseen circumstances, evolving priorities, and technological advancements.

Past Trends (2019-2024):
1. Rise of Staycations and Local Travel: With global uncertainty, people sought comfort in familiar surroundings, boosting local tourism and staycations. This trend also fueled the popularity of unique, nearby experiences like glamping or micro-adventures.
2. Experiences over Destinations: Travelers craved deeper connections and immersion, prioritizing authentic experiences over simply ticking off landmarks. This led to a surge in cultural tours, voluntourism, and off-the-beaten-path adventures.
3. Bleisure Travel: The lines between business and leisure blurred as remote work options became more prevalent. Travelers extended business trips to include leisure activities, driving demand for flexible booking options and co-working spaces in tourist destinations.
4. Sustainability in Focus: Environmental consciousness grew, leading to a rise in eco-friendly travel choices. Travelers sought out sustainable accommodations, responsible tours, and destinations committed to conservation.
5. Tech-Driven Transformation: Technology played an increasingly crucial role, from AI-powered travel recommendations to contactless payments and immersive virtual tours. This trend also fueled the growth of travel apps and online booking platforms.

Possible Future Trends (2024-2029):
1. Hyper-Personalization: Travel will become increasingly tailored to individual preferences, with AI and machine learning creating bespoke itineraries and experiences based on unique interests, travel styles, and budgets.
2. Wellness & Retreats: The focus on mental and physical wellbeing will continue, with travelers seeking destinations and experiences that promote mindfulness, relaxation, and holistic rejuvenation.
3. Transformative Travel: The desire for personal growth and self-discovery will drive demand for transformative travel experiences, such as volunteering, cultural immersion programs, and journeys focused on personal development.
4. Space Tourism: As technology advances and costs decrease, space tourism could become more accessible, offering a unique and futuristic travel experience for a select few.
5. Metaverse Travel: Virtual and augmented reality experiences will continue to evolve, potentially offering immersive travel simulations that allow people to explore destinations without physically being there.

The past five years have painted a dynamic picture of travel trends. Driven by changing lifestyles, social values, and technological advancements, travelers have embraced experiences over mere sightseeing, pursued self-discovery through solo adventures, and sought responsible, personalized journeys.
Looking ahead, several exciting possibilities emerge. Hyper-personalization will be key, with tech facilitating highly customized itineraries that resonate deeply with individual aspirations. Wellness and retreat travel will boom, as people seek mental, physical, and spiritual rejuvenation. Additionally, destination stewardship will take center stage, with travelers actively partnering with locals to preserve cultures and environments.
This evolving landscape presents both challenges and opportunities. The travel industry must adapt to offer personalized experiences at scale, cater to the growing wellness market, and integrate sustainable practices seamlessly. Travelers, meanwhile, have the power to choose wisely, supporting responsible tourism and contributing to positive change.
While technology will play a vital role, human connection will remain paramount. Authentic interactions, cultural immersion, and meaningful experiences will be the true differentiators in this new era of travel. Ultimately, the future of travel promises a deeper, more personalized, and responsible way to explore the world, driven by our collective desire for connection, transformation, and discovery.
These are just a glimpse into the ever-evolving world of travel. As we move forward, sustainability, personalization, and transformative experiences will likely take center stage, while technology will continue to reshape how we plan, book, and experience travel. The future of travel promises to be exciting, diverse, and deeply attuned to the evolving needs and desires of travelers worldwide.
