So, time for me to get a littl angy.
I setup a brand new, fresh, clean install of debian, for the first good operating system on my main machine. Bravo 2, i got everything looking nice, got steam installed, setup and running my games, got my backups moved over, set everuthing up for VR. Got VR "running"
Just. To. Fucking. Find out.
The tuning software for my GPU and CPU is only packaged for arch and fedora. I try compile the source code, no luck. (I need this to make VR playable - reduce Vsync issues and fix borkedness)
I did find out that it is packaged for debian, but, an unstavmble build that isn't designed for me to really use. So yay!
I spend 5 hours on all of this. Fixing, tweaking, adjusting everything for my final move, aaaaand fucked. So kinda annoyed.
I want to leave windows behind but fuck me is it hard.
So! Tommorrows plan. Arch.
As much as i dont want to hate on fedora, i aint learning that shit, nuh uh. Can't make me.
So i've been reccomended to try out endevor (if that is how you spell it TwT) as its arch based. (According to a mf in the GC, no idea have not done anything remotely with it, its 2am and i aint doing that rn)
So from what i know and have learnt from my arch fuckery i have a lot to do.
Anywhomst angy time over, imma go cuddle up to my blähajs and pass out.

Mechamorph limitations headcanon
they don't have any wireless capabilities, nothing remote, it's on contact abilities only, it's like how regular humans aren't (usually) telepathic or telekinetic. The closest thing to wireless they have is calling to fragments of their own body to come back to them and reform (if within rage or undamaged) as their bodies are independent nanite hiveminds
Their consciousness is also STRICTLY bound to their bodies on the mental playing field. If they wanted to "transfer" their consciousness it would be like in SOMA where it's a COPY but not like, an extension of, or even the original consciousness. OR in the case of symbiotes, a split off of a seperate consciousness all together. They also can't be forced into a time dilation state, or excelerate information intake/learning (also my justification for ship's developmental rate being similar to a human). They can however still experience digital spaces directly (connecting to the internet suing another device, or being in a game or VR, etc.)
Mechamorphs also HAVE to sleep with some regularity. I believe any conscious being needs a rest from reality. Just like a computer shouldn't be left running all the time. Although mechamorphs can go quite a long time with no sleep, once they start reaching their limit they start to experience a similar mental breakdown to humans, from lack of concentration, inability to remember certain things, to loss of the ability to understand written information and/or spoken information, and becoming irritable and uncommunicative.
They have some temperature sensitivity, extreme heat can cause issues in the same way any living thing overheated, or any machine would overheat, a failure or inability to function properly. And extreme cold can drastically decrease their elasticity or even damage them and cause breakage from becoming brittle.

How NASA is using virtual reality to prepare for science on Moon
When astronauts walk on the moon, they'll serve as the eyes, hands, and boots-on-the-ground interpreters supporting the broader teams of scientists on Earth. NASA is leveraging virtual reality to provide high-fidelity, cost-effective support to prepare crew members, flight control teams, and science teams for a return to the moon through its Artemis campaign.
The Artemis III Geology Team, led by principal investigator Dr. Brett Denevi of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland, participated in an Artemis III Surface Extra-Vehicular VR Mini-Simulation, or "sim" at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston in the fall of 2024. The sim brought together science teams and flight directors and controllers from Mission Control to carry out science-focused moonwalks and test the way the teams communicate with each other and the astronauts.
"There are two worlds colliding," said Dr. Matthew Miller, co-lead for the simulation and exploration engineer, Amentum/JETSII contract with NASA. "There is the operational world and the scientific world, and they are becoming one."
NASA mission training can include field tests covering areas from navigation and communication to astronaut physical and psychological workloads. Many of these tests take place in remote locations and can require up to a year to plan and large teams to execute. VR may provide an additional option for training that can be planned and executed more quickly to keep up with the demands of preparing to land on the moon in an environment where time, budgets, and travel resources are limited.
Field testing won't be going away. Nothing can fully replace the experience crew members gain by being in an environment that puts literal rocks in their hands and includes the physical challenges that come with moonwalks, but VR has competitive advantages.
The virtual environment used in the Artemis III VR Mini-Sim was built using actual lunar surface data from one of the Artemis III candidate regions. This allowed the science team to focus on Artemis III science objectives and traverse planning directly applicable to the moon.
Eddie Paddock, engineering VR technical discipline lead at NASA Johnson, and his team used data from NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter and planet position and velocity over time to develop a virtual software representation of a site within the Nobile Rim 1 region near the south pole of the moon.
Two stand-in crew members performed moonwalk traverses in virtual reality in the Prototype Immersive Technology lab at Johnson, and streamed suit-mounted virtual video camera views, hand-held virtual camera imagery, and audio to another location where flight controllers and science support teams simulated ground communications.
The crew stand-ins were immersed in the lunar environment and could then share the experience with the science and flight control teams. That quick and direct feedback could prove critical to the science and flight control teams as they work to build cohesive teams despite very different approaches to their work.
The flight operations team and the science team are learning how to work together and speak a shared language. Both teams are pivotal parts of the overall mission operations. The flight control team focuses on maintaining crew and vehicle safety and minimizing risk as much as possible. The science team, as Miller explains, is "relentlessly thirsty" for as much science as possible. Training sessions like this simulation allow the teams to hone their relationships and processes.
Denevi described the flight control team as a "well-oiled machine" and praised their dedication to getting it right for the science team. Many members of the flight control team have participated in field and classroom training to learn more about geology and better understand the science objectives for Artemis.
"They have invested a lot of their own effort into understanding the science background and science objectives, and the science team really appreciates that and wants to make sure they are also learning to operate in the best way we can to support the flight control team, because there's a lot for us to learn as well," Denevi said. "It's a joy to get to share the science with them and have them be excited to help us implement it all."
This simulation, Sparks said, was just the beginning for how virtual reality could supplement training opportunities for Artemis science. In the future, using mixed reality could help take the experience to the next level, allowing crew members to be fully immersed in the virtual environment while interacting with real objects they can hold in their hands. Now that the Nobile Rim 1 landing site is built in VR, it can continue to be improved and used for crew training, something that Sparks said can't be done with field training on Earth.
While "virtual" was part of the title for this exercise, its applications are very real.
"We are uncovering a lot of things that people probably had in the back of their head as something we'd need to deal with in the future," Miller said. "But guess what? The future is now. This is now."

2024 Winter Anime
It's here! It's finally here!!! Solo Leveling comes out this season! There's definitely a few others to keep an eye out for but this is the star of the winter season:
Solo Leveling One of my most anticipated series. I'm caught up on the english light novels (8 volumes) and I'm honestly so invested in this story. In a way it gives the same impact as One Punch Man but if the story progressed a little faster toward fame and growth in his power. Easily the best of the season. Noteworthy On Going Shows: Frieren - Episodes 17-28 One of the most mesmerizing and well paced fantasies I've seen. Also one of my 10/10s of all time. Worth looking into if you remotely like fantasy. Shangri La Frontier - Episodes 14-25 Another fantasy game series that honestly just looks like it's a fun game. Explores a lot of game mechanics within this full-dive VR type game that almost puts SAO to shame. Fun action, fantasy and fun for game lovers. Apothecary Diaries - Episodes 13-24 My current favourite drama/romance/medical mystery series. The characters are simple but the show highlights the different dynamics and almost feels like an enemies to lovers plot. New Seasons:
Blue Exorcist - Season 3 This is one of the og shows I watched growing up. It's a mythology school themed show that I loved. It's been 13 years since season 1 aired and I'm stoked to see it come back. It's being done by a different studio since A-1 is busy with solo leveling, so I'm not sure if it'll hit the same but I'll still check it out at least for the nostalgia.
Mashle - Season 2 The funniest anime I've seen in a while. Man muscle brains his way through magic school and the whole show is a meme of harry potter and other magic series. Truly entertaining. Can't wait for this season
Delicious In Dungeon This is a series I've wanted to pick up the manga for for a while. It's about dealing with food and hunger when these adventurers are deep in a dungeon and learn to start cooking and eating what they can find down there. Funny concept but honestly looks like a lot of fun.
The Unwanted Undead Adventurer I read this manga and light novel so long ago. (Literal years - link to my manga thoughts and summary). I'm looking forward to the adaptation. I think nowadays this kind of story doesn't catch nearly as much attention as it did a few years ago. An adventurer dies in a dungeon and is reborn as an undead who can evolve as he kills other monsters and he deals with trying to fit in with the human realm again and evolving. I'm still looking forward to it after keeping an ear our for so long!
Mr. Villain's Day Off I recently heard about this series and thought it was such a cute concept. Us with all our villain complexes with enjoy this one. Will likely be a background show for me as there won't be a huge plot, regardless, still fun to watch. Burn the Witch - #0.8 - 30 min Special I think this won't be as exciting now that Bleach has come back and we aren't as depraved of Tite Kubo's work but I really enjoyed the original short series. Hoping for more of this world in the future. Sequels: Classroom of the Elite - Season 3 Tsukimichi - Season 2 (Link to review of season 1) The Dangers in My Heart - Season 2 More Continuations: Undead Unluck Ragna Crimson After going through 20+ shows every season, many with sub-par animations and the same fantasy twists, I've become real picky about which series are even worth trying to watch these days. Here are the ones that deserve at least 2 episodes in order: A Sign of Affection - Gets a special spot since it's incredibly rare to see disability representation in anime and it looks like it's done quite well- A romance between a guy and a deaf girl. Looks super sweet Bucchigiri?! - I honestly can't say this looks appealing to me personally but I've hear the name before and well it's MAPPA. (Give em a break) 'Tis Time for "Torture," Princess - looks well animated and just a fun watch Metallic Rouge - The sci-fi series for this season. I'm not sure I have it in me to watch something heavy like this this season but it looks decent. The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic The Witch and the Beast - Here for manga readers - lowkey looks like the manga will be much better and this might be a skip for me. Hokkaido Gyaru's are super Adorable (Ecchi) ALSO - Big reminder: Haikyu!! and Demon Slayer have their movies coming out this season as well (both theatrical releases so keep an eye out!!!) Demon Slayer: To the Hashira Training - Feb 2nd 2024 Haikyu!! - The Dumpster Battle - Feb 16th 2024

This Week’s Horrible-Scopes
It’s time for this week’s Horrible-Scopes! So for those of you that know your Astrological Signs, cool! If not, just pick one, roll a D12, or just make it up as you go along. It really doesn’t matter. Better yet! Check out “Heart of the Game, Fredonia” - they can sell you those D12’s with the symbols on them! Get in contact with them on Facebook, shipping to the U.S. only, and tell them “Shujin Tribble” sentcha. “Hail, Hail, Fredonia!” Home of the Blue Devil!
For those of you unfamiliar with such things, in Rochester, New York there is the Strong’s National Toy Hall of Fame - and recently they inducted the next twelve toys they’ve deemed fit for special recognition for posterity. This isn;t a list of what’s recently come to market, but toys that have captured the hearts and minds of kids and those who are still kids at heart. So this week let’s see what you all get from the list!
Aries
What if we told you your toy was something you weren’t allowed to touch in order to play with it? Sounds all kinds of wrong, right? Well dig this, ‘cause your toy is the category of “Remote-Controlled Vehicles”! Known as “(R/C)”s it could be anything from an R2-D2 model to a VR-Vision Drone, but in all cases it’s just fun to enjoy. So This Week… If you’re thinking of trying your hand at Model Aircraft flying, please buy one of these Flight Trainer Programs first. They usually come with a replica controller so you can get used to what it looks like when you crash $1,400 worth of your hard-earned money into the ground like it was a Lawn Dart.
Taurus
Your toy is one of the youngest here, having been created in 1974 in a dream. The game is called, “Sequence” and involves a deck of cards, a playfield with multiple card images on it, coloured chips to put on the board, and the plan to place a sequence of five of your chips in a row before your opponent does. So This Week… The game really started in the early 1980’s and took a bit to gain traction and popularity. Keep that in mind as we start the new year; you’re allowed to take time to come up to speed and hit your stride.
Gemini
This can be arguably considered one of the most dangerous toys possible; and for the record it’s NOT the board game, “Monopoly”. As a youngster what did you learn about physics? If you said, “I didn't learn anything!”, well congratulations - you owe Virgo an apology for spoiling their toy. In reality you learned about Gravity and how to use it to play. Your toy is the Trampoline! All kinds of fun to have, so long as you keep your hands and feet inside the ride until the occupant comes to a complete and full stop. So This Week… There’s also the slight problem of built-up static electricity when using one. Be sure to purposefully zap yourself so you don’t fall getting out.
Cancer Moon-Child
Your toy’s gotten a bit of a renaissance in the 21st century and goes by several names: cock horse, stick horse, or hobby horse. It’s, basically as the name suggests, a long stick with a stuffed plush horse’s head on the end, sometimes with reins, and the rider carries it along, dragging between their legs, and imitating various equine stepping gaits. So This Week… There are groups who use these toys instead of real horses in dressage events or polo. Go check them out and see just how in-shape you could be if you joined them!
Leo
Some aren’t going to think this category qualifies as a “toy”, but the Strong Museum would disagree. Imagine you’re reading a chapter in a book, and suddenly it ends on a cliffhanger, but YOU get to decide where the story goes next! Welcome to the world of, “Choose Your Own Adventure gamebooks”! You get to help the adventurer find their way through a maze, or track down a lead in a detective story. No matter what, you’ll get to have fun! So This Week… If you think you’re not a computer simulated consciousness, just remember that all these, “Turn to page X to continue the story” prompts are just “GOTO” programming commands!
Virgo
We’re hoping Cancer didn’t totally spoil the reveal for you on this one. What’s more fun than a hobby horse and half the size? How about a “My Little Pony”? Originally called, “My Pretty Pony” it’s gone through a number of changes with each successive generation - some more successful than others. But the behemoth juggernaut that most folks are familiar with now would be 2010’s “My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic”. Even though that generation’s run its course, being officially replaced in 2021 with “My Little Pony: A New Generation” aka Gen5, the fanbase it generated has been nothing short of miraculous. So This Week… Only you can write the finale to your book. Make it a good one.
Libra
For you we have another card game, though to be honest we’ve not heard of this one. The game is called, “Phase 10”, and its rules and objectives get super tough to follow very quickly. The only part we were able to understand was the fact that games will usually be shortened by half to help finish quicker. Not sure if that’s a selling point or not, but whatever. So This Week… Even if someone tries to cut you down, just remember that you are still as ferocious as ever. And a slow burn anger can sometimes get the point across better than yelling would.
Scorpio
Released for the Nintendo Game Boy in 1996, Pocket Monsters Red and Blue most definitely didn’t look it on green screen, but it was the beginning of a monstrous franchise. Your game isn’t the Game Boy cartridge, but the Pokémon Trading Card Game itself that spawned from it. Who knew kids could be convinced to spend lots of allowance money on card packages with only a slim chance of gaining something special for their future card battles. So This Week… In video games this practice is usually called “Loot Boxes”, and is highly frowned upon or outright banned if real world money is involved. You’re an adult now - make sure you can inspect what you’re buying before you pay for it.
Sagittarius
You’re getting a classic, a master stroke of ingenuity, and a versatile toy, underrated in modern days because of its lack of lights or bells or batteries, or ANY power source, actually. Balloons! You don;t think that’s a worthwhile toy? Might we remind you of its versatility! It’s a target at almost every carnival with a dart board, it’s a jet engine for a milk-carton boat, it’s a floating sign when filled with helium, and when properly reinforced, semi-inflated, and sat on produces an imitation of a Barking Spider. So This Week… Let others underestimate you and your abilities. It’ll be their undoing.
Capricorn
Depending on where and when you live, you might not have ever seen the next toy in person, or maybe you’d only ever heard about it as spoken-of legend, but trust it, they’re real! Hess Toy Trucks were that special sometimes Last Minute Gift for the kiddos if someone was running late into the Gift Giving Season. Sold at HESS Gas Stations from 1964 until their switchover to Speedway stations in 2015, every year had a different truck or car or jet or helicopter to entertain. So This Week… Even if you didn't get one growing up, you can still check “Hess Toy Truck Dot Com” to see all the old ones and the upcoming new ones. And use coupon code, “HORRIBLE” to save not a whit on any purchases you make there.
Aquarius
The fact that your toy made it out of its infancy is a testament to how good an idea it was when it started - considering it literally killed off its main character and traumatized generations of children! Your inductee is a marvel of marketing and engineering: Transformers! What was more impressive to you? Peter Cullen & Frank Welker performing the voices of Optimus Prime and Megatron live without any audio aid of any kind, or designing a Triple Changers? So This Week… If you start to sound like Optimus in your own head, your vocal cords are covered in stuff because you’re sick. Put on a mask or stay home.
Pisces
We know how you are and how you operate, but for just one stellar moment, just TRY to be an All Audiences personality for a change, hmm? Imagine a card game where, literally, the dealer cannot win the game! Apples to Apples is, for lack of a nicer way to put it, the “General Audiences” version of “Cards Against Humanity” - and the fact that C.a.H. is a more popular game to you tells us all we needed to know today. Virtual Desktop VR: The Future of the Virtual World
In an era dominated by technological advancements, the concept of virtual reality (VR) has transformed the way we work, learn, and interact. Among these innovations, Virtual Desktop VR is emerging as a game-changer, allowing users to experience a virtual desktop environment that enhances productivity, creativity, and even leisure. But what exactly is Virtual Desktop VR, and how will it shape the future of the virtual world? Let’s explore.
What is Virtual Desktop VR?
Virtual Desktop VR is an immersive experience that simulates a desktop computer environment within a virtual reality headset. Rather than using a traditional monitor or screen, users can access their computer’s desktop, applications, and files in a fully 3D environment. This allows for the creation of a virtual workspace that can be customized to meet individual needs, providing a sense of presence and control unlike any other.

Key Features of Virtual Desktop VR
Immersive Workspaces Virtual Desktop VR allows users to create customized virtual workspaces. Whether it’s a scenic mountain cabin, a futuristic cityscape, or an open office, the choice is yours. Users can arrange multiple virtual monitors, access documents, and use applications in 3D space, all while remaining within the virtual environment.
Multi-Tasking in a Virtual Environment Virtual Desktop VR supports multi-monitor functionality, giving users the flexibility to work across several virtual screens. This is particularly useful for professionals, designers, or programmers who often need to manage several windows or applications at once. The virtual desktop environment provides a distraction-free, limitless workspace.
Enhanced Collaboration and Interaction The ability to collaborate within a virtual world is a significant feature of Virtual Desktop VR. Whether in business meetings, design reviews, or educational settings, users can connect in a shared virtual space. Imagine brainstorming ideas on a digital whiteboard, sharing presentations, or even walking through architectural designs—all in real time.
Access to Powerful Applications From video editing to 3D modeling, Virtual Desktop VR integrates with a range of high-performance applications. This makes it ideal not only for casual users but also for professionals who require advanced software tools. VR's powerful graphics capabilities bring these applications to life, enhancing productivity and creativity.
Why is Virtual Desktop VR the Future?
Breaking the Boundaries of Physical Space Traditional desktop setups are limited by physical space, clutter, and the need for multiple monitors. With Virtual Desktop VR, users can extend their workspace infinitely and access all their tools without being constrained by their physical environment. This offers a new level of flexibility, especially for remote workers and digital nomads.
Elevating Remote Work As remote work continues to rise, Virtual Desktop VR becomes a vital tool for improving productivity. It creates the feeling of being in a real office, where you can virtually “walk” between your desk and your coworker's, participate in meetings, and even share documents instantly. This level of interaction can bring a much-needed human touch to remote communication.
Transforming Learning and Education Virtual Desktop VR isn’t just for professionals; it’s revolutionizing education as well. Students and educators can meet in virtual classrooms, access interactive learning tools, and collaborate in ways that traditional methods simply can’t match. Virtual campuses could soon become the norm, offering an immersive learning environment from anywhere in the world.
The Rise of Virtual Workspaces As VR hardware continues to improve, the dream of a fully integrated virtual office is closer than ever. With advancements in VR headsets, such as lighter designs, better resolution, and enhanced haptics, Virtual Desktop VR will become more accessible, affordable, and powerful, further embedding itself into daily life.
Benefits of Virtual Desktop VR
Enhanced Focus and Productivity: With fewer distractions and the ability to customize the environment, users often find themselves more focused and productive.
Cost Efficiency: In a virtual workspace, there’s no need for physical office space, multiple monitors, or even the heavy cost of travel for business meetings.
Sustainability: The shift to virtual environments reduces the need for travel and physical resources, making it an eco-friendly choice.
Accessibility: For individuals with disabilities or limitations that prevent them from working in traditional office settings, Virtual Desktop VR opens up new possibilities for inclusion and accessibility.
Challenges to Consider
While Virtual Desktop VR offers incredible potential, there are still challenges to overcome:
Hardware Requirements: Although VR hardware is becoming more affordable, it still requires specialized equipment that may not be available to everyone.
Learning Curve: For those unfamiliar with VR environments, there may be a learning curve as users adapt to navigating their virtual desktops.
Comfort and Motion Sickness: Some users may experience discomfort or motion sickness when using VR for extended periods, although advancements in VR hardware are constantly improving these issues.
The Future of Virtual Desktop VR
As VR technology advances, Virtual Desktop VR is poised to play a significant role in how we interact with digital worlds. Its ability to transform work, education, and social collaboration will continue to evolve, offering users new levels of immersion, flexibility, and creativity. With more businesses and educational institutions adopting VR solutions, the integration of Virtual Desktop VR into everyday life seems inevitable.
In conclusion, Virtual Desktop VR is not just a trend but a glimpse into the future of how we will experience and interact with virtual spaces. Whether for work, leisure, or education, it promises to revolutionize our relationship with technology, making the virtual world more accessible, interactive, and immersive than ever before.

Sonic Underground episode 40: Virtual Danger
AKA: THE FINAL EPISODE
I’m watching Sonic Underground in search of inspiration to finish a fic I’ve been writing forever. It’s a sad state of affairs. See the recap of the first three episodes here, if you're interested!
The Plot (for want of a better word): Sonic and Manic have been training their piloting skills with a virtual reality game, but it turns out their online friend is Robotnik in disguise! Can they escape the trap he’s set for them, or will they be trapped in cyberspace forever?
An interesting factoid, before we begin. The creators of Batman Beyond and The Justice League mentioned that they learned a lot from doing Batman Beyond, and one of the important things was that it doesn’t matter what your series is doing or how well it’s going (or not), the season finale should ALWAYS feel important. It should wrap up a storyline, it should set a full stop on a sentence. That way, no matter what happens, your fans will be satisfied with it.
As we all know, this series was not intended to be viewed in any particular order, so you can't expect this episode to wrap anything up properly.
However! This episode does KIND of wrap up a storyline that’s been running throughout the series, about the Resistance skimming supplies. It shows up in most Cyrus episodes. You probably wouldn’t have noticed it, but hey! Credit where due!
We open on the boys playing a VR game. They are just about to defeat their 'online friend' when Sonia walks in and pulls the plug on their game console. They’re late to a meeting.
CYRUS.
If you remember episode 12, you will remember the zombie robot, which allows a pilot to take remote control of a machine. It’s back. Yay. The boys apparently want to prove their skills have improved, because they’ve been playing video games. And they do pass the test, so it turns out video games ARE good for you, any parents who may be watching and still doubting whether their kids should be allowed to buy a Sega Saturn/Dreamcast in a couple of years.
Robotnik is going to be doing an audit on his supply ships, which means he’s definitely going to notice that the Resistance have been taking them. So they’re onto plan B: steal ALL the supply ships before Robotnik can change strategy.
There are three left to take over, and Cyrus assigns Sonic the last one. Sonia objects, because the last one is the riskiest, and she’s the best pilot. The way it’s framed, this isn’t arrogance so much as her being worried about Sonic. Combined with looks she was giving him a few episodes ago, it makes me wonder if they wanted a mini storyline of Sonia worrying about Sonic taking too much of the risks… could’ve been a good one!
Sonic does indeed get caught, but turns it into a kamikaze flight, turning his ship back on Robotnik’s palace for a crash. He barely misses Robotnik himself by like a half-metre. But the point is, all the supply ships are now out of Robotnik’s reach and he has to re-orient his factories to rebuild. Successful mission all round, and the triplets are given a few days off.
Manic dozes off to have a dream about playing more video games, but this time, Sonia has decided to play too. And of course she is immediately better at it than them. Whether this is just how the show functions or a sign of Manic's low self esteem, we will never know.
The Song: Don’t let your guard down. A very strange 80s/early 90s pop song, running a bit light on lyrics – mostly just “Don’t let your guard down. Keep your shield up, you gotta be ready”. Which, again, propaganda sure, but… not much for a good song, guys. Perhaps this is just proof of why Manic isn't the band's lyricist.
In the ACTUAL game, their 'online friend' offers them a mod, and promises a better one later. Because cyber security is not yet a common thing, the boys do not think twice about downloading and installing both files, no questions asked.
But once they’re in the new mod, their online friend is revealed to be Robotnik, and this has all been a trap! Now the… Okay, I’m not entirely sure how this happens, but they get zapped into the game. And apparently, if you die in the game, you die in real life. And… Look. Shadow the Hedgehog did this too, so I have to accept it as a thing that can happen in the sonic universe, but I will never not think it’s a little silly.
The point is: the boys are trapped and Sonia sees it happen.
Sonia calls Cyrus, who creates a program to allow Sonia into the game virtually, and pull Robotnik in physically. Don’t question it. While Sonia’s trying to rescue her brothers, Cyrus is going to try to hack Robotnik’s satellite to disrupt his connection, which will apparently win the game for the hedgehogs. Seriously, don’t question. Just accept.
Surprisingly, Sonia’s amazing piloting skills do not actually save the day. Cyrus cutting off the satellite dish does. I am legitimately surprised.
The episode ends with the triplets sending the now unloaded cargo ships back to Robotnik’s palace, further damaging it. Sonic declares it “Game over, Buttnik!”
And that’s it. That’s the end of Sonic Underground.
Sure was an episode, huh?
Look, it was incredibly underwhelming and very much Just An Episode, but on a meta level, it was actually a pretty good culmination of the series. There was the weirdly fluid animation that was absolutely not quality checked. There was the random disjointed plot that barely hung together. There was the odd character relationships and motivations that were generally fine but also kind of illfitting. There was the conflict and resolution in the final five minutes of the episode.
There was no Sleet or Dingo, and the song was barely an attempt, but OTHERWISE.
This was Sonic Underground, for all its faults and wonders.
Come back tomorrow for final thoughts, if you’re interested!
#sonic underground#lediz fics#sonic the hedgehog#sonia hedgehog#manic hedgehog#So apparently Robotnik plays games with Sonic in multiple cartoon series#who knew?#ALSO#there was an overarching plot that got resolved!#Aren't we proud of the trashfire?
