You know Vanessa is just so utterly messed up, like even just the things we actually see in the movie without all the implications

she gets the toy of a dead kid, which probably wasn't the only time either

we know she is with the animatronics more often, probably bc of guilt and having to clean up

when she shot that gun she was too scared to even look and i dont think she was even surprised when her own father turned against her like it was nothing

before that she clearly implied some conditioning and manipulation from her dad when she said she wouldnt be of any use

this was probably not the first time she had to keep a security guard in check

and if the way afton talked to the animatronics was anything to go by, was so extremely abusive and manipulative

but she probably couldnt leave, she didnt have a support system and this was her dad afterall, he couldnt be that bad

he probably also had things to hold over her head, threaten her with

did vanessa ever get to make a free choice? did she want to be a police officer or was she forced to, and her name?

The implications of it all, its just jdkhahsk it is literally so sad, she really is so fucked up and of course my brain decided to immediately latch onto that

its so weird to me personally that some people think that it doesnt make sense for craig to be nice to wildernessa but still hate jason (up until scout guest), but to me the worst thing wildernessa has done is say that craig doesnt know shit about nature vs jason whos basically like "ok tony now hit the second tower" for the majority of his screentime, and people wonder why craig doesnt trust him most of the time huh

I don’t think we are talking enough about this phrase specifically.

Vanessa doesn’t say “I can’t help you”. She says “I won’t be any use”

It’s the emphasis of usefulness that gets me, that she has to be useful to others. This is such a strong reflection of her relationship with daddy Afton and it just breaks me.

And by ‘breaks me’ I mean it gets me extremely interested to see more of their past. Does she have to be useful to him because of something she did (or a brother she killed)? Did he assure her no one would ever care for her if she didn’t provide a good reason for that? For how had she been helping him, and how did that change their relationship?

Did she still believe that, no matter how bad her father acted, that he loved her deep down? Did he ever love her deep down?

On a scale from Elizabeth to Michael, how much did she matter to him?

Me: (Before the release of Security Breach) "Vanny seems like such a cool and creepy villain! Why does she act like a kid? What did Glitchtrap do to her? And poor Vanessa has suffered so much because of him too. I can't wait to see what their dynamic is like! Their mental struggles will make such a compelling story!"

(Security Breach releases. Vanny gets 4 whole lines and Vanessa gets 3 scenes and a few tapes. All the lines used in the trailers aren't in the game. Implying that their roles were heavily cut.)

Me: "Oh. Well that's disappointing. Maybe that new book series will expand on their characters! That would be the perfect place to give that to the people looking for it! I mean, that whole series is about stuff that happened at the Pizzaplex and she works there! How could they not give her a story?"

(All 8 TFTP books release. Vanny and Vanessa aren't even mentioned in any way, shape or form.)

Me: "Oh come on! Nothing? Well...that new Ruin DLC looks pretty cool. And SteelWool knows by now that people want more Vanny and Vanessa. Plus, we wear her mask in the trailer! That's gotta mean she'll play an important role right?"

(Ruin releases. Vanny gets one cameo and some graffiti on the walls and Vanessa still isn't mentioned.)

Me: "God damn it. I dunno, Help Wanted 2 might have some stuff in it? It looks like a simulation thing, so they could do something cool with that?"

(HW2 comes out. Vanessa isn't mentioned again. Vanny only has one scene at the very end. An ending that implies that the PQ ending in Security Breach is the canon one. Meaning that we may never see her again. Plus files in the game and a voice actor credit imply that her role was cut down again.)

Idea from @maxnessas post!!! It's so cute, I had to. Mike needs to get Vanessa a puppy for Christmas she deserves one. I like thinking that she names the puppy Angel, too.
