David Lynch, Twin Peaks Creator and Mulholland Drive Director, Dies at 78: 'There's a Big Hole in the World'
The director was a four-time Oscar nominee By Victoria Edel Published on January 16, 2025 @ 01:28PM EST

David Lynch has died at the age of 78, his family announced on Thursday, Jan. 16.
"It is with deep regret that we, his family, announce the passing of the man and the artist, David Lynch.  We would appreciate some privacy at this time," read a message on Facebook. "There’s a big hole in the world now that he’s no longer with us. But, as he would say, 'Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.' "
"It’s a beautiful day with golden sunshine and blue skies all the way," they added.
Lynch, who would have turned 79 this Monday, Jan. 20, was best known for creating the 1990 TV series Twin Peaks. The show spawned a 1992 feature film, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, and a 2017 revival season. A four-time Oscar nominee, he also directed films including The Elephant Man, Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive. He was known for his distinctive style that became described as “Lynchian.”
Lynch was born in Missoula, Mont., in 1946 and grew up in Spokane, Wash., and Boise, Idaho. His father was a forest research scientist, and Lynch spent much of his childhood outside, exploring. Those same mysterious Pacific Northwest woods would eventually inspire Twin Peaks.
When he was a teenager, the family moved to Alexandria, Va. He had "a kind of happy persona” there, he told PEOPLE in 1990, but soon learned “all the thrilling things happened just after school or between classes. It added up to some sort of pitiful joke — so constricting it would drive you nuts. It inspired me to try to break rules. Behind it all, I was getting it together to be a painter.”

Lynch went to Philadelphia to study art at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and there he began experimenting with film and animation. "I loved Philadelphia," he said in 1990. "The most corrupt, fear-ridden city I've ever seen. It's one of my major film influences."
In 1975, he released The Grandmother, a 35-minute blent of live-action and animation about a lonely boy whose dead grandmother comes back to life. It earned him a spot in the American Film Institute's Center for Advanced Film Studies in L.A. He spent the next five years working on his feature debut, 1977’s Eraserhead. To support himself, he held a series of odd jobs, including a paper route.
"$9.80 a night was not a thrilling rate, so I was pretty depressed," he said in 1990. "But I worked it to where I was shooting the route in one hour, almost to the second — a totally efficient hour. You learn to fold, bag and drive at the same time."
"I got an awful lot of pressure to abandon Eraserhead and do something worthwhile," he added. "I just couldn't. It was frustrating, but also beautiful." Eraserhead had a small opening, but gained interest as a midnight movie and ultimately became a cult favorite. One fan was Mel Brooks, who hired Lynch to create a film about Joseph Merrick. That movie, 1980’s The Elephant Man was a hit and garnered eight Oscar nominations, including best director and best adapted screenplay for Lynch.

Next he directed an adaptation of Dune, released in 1984. It received mostly negative reviews upon it release, though it went on to be a cult favorite. “It was a heartache for me. It was a failure, and I didn’t have final cut,” he told The Hollywood Reporter in 2020. “I’ve told this story a billion times. It’s not the film I wanted to make. I like certain parts of it very much — but it was a total failure for me."
He released Blue Velvet, starring Isabella Rossellini, in 1986. The erotic thriller was criticized by some for being too violent, but he received a second Oscar nomination for best director. "When people first meet David, they expect him to be neurotic and crazy and sick, but he's not," Rossellini, who was romantically involved with Lynch at the time, told PEOPLE in 1990. “It's just that he looks at life in a different way.” He said of his creative inclinations, “I'm in love with ideas, and I'm out there trying to catch them.”
His next major film was 1990's Wild at Heart, starring Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern, who had also appeared in Blue Velvet. She told PEOPLE in 1990, “David's greatest gift is that he sees making a movie like a trip to Disneyland." Lynch described Wild at Heart as a “violent comedy, a love story in a twisted world.” He explained, “Wild at Heart goes to extremes — it's not a film for everybody. But as shocking as some things in it are, they're based on the truth of human nature, and there's a lot of humor and love wrapped up in that.”
Tumblr media

Twin Peaks also premiered that same year. "Working at this speed is unusually intense, but I really like it," the director told PEOPLE. “It gets kind of crazy.” The mystery TV series reunited him with Dune and Blue Velvet star Kyle MacLachlan.
Set in the titular, fictional Washington town, Twin Peaks explored the mystery of who killed Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee), though the surreal series came to mean so much more to fans. Not that Lynch was forthcoming about any of the ideas he intentionally incorporated into his work. "I never talk about themes," he said in 1990. "No way. A film should stand on its own. People talk way too much about a film up front, and that diminishes it."
MacLachlan praised Lynch as “a sound, mood and rhythm director. David hasn't forgotten the images, fears and desires you have when you're 10 or 18 or 25. They're so pure, these images, that they have a lot of impact.”

"I like things that go into hidden, mysterious places, places I want to explore that are very disturbing," Lynch said. "In that disturbing thing, there is sometimes tremendous poetry and truth." The combination of violence, surrealism, mysticism and blue-collar life would come to define the “Lynchian” aesthetic.
Twin Peaks aired for two seasons on ABC. It was an instant success when it premiered; PEOPLE included Laura Palmer on it annual list of most interesting people at the end of 1990. But the second season was derailed when ABC executive Bob Iger made Lynch reveal in the premiere who had killed Palmer, a mystery the director had wanted to save for the end of the series. Ratings declined, Lynch was unhappy, and the show was canceled.
In 1992, Lynch visited the story again in the prequel film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me. And he returned for a third season of the series, which aired on Showtime, in 2017. “I called all the regulars — or most everyone — and I had a chat,” Lynch told Deadline in 2018 about bringing the cast back together. “These people are like family, so it was so beautiful calling them and talking to them again and getting together like for a family reunion.” He guessed that 99 percent of the surviving cast was happy to return. Dern also joined the show for the third season.
Lynch felt season three was more comparable in quality to the first than the second, which he did not like. He received nine Emmy nominations for his work on Twin Peaks.

Lynch directed four more films: 1997’s Lost Highway, 1999’s The Straight Story, 2001’s Mulholland Drive and 2006’s Inland Empire. He received his third Oscar nomination for best director (and fourth overall) for helming Mulholland Drive, which followed an aspiring actress in Los Angeles played by Naomi Watts. It was originally conceived as a TV show.
“It was a closed-ended pilot, and then the ideas came to make it into a feature,” he told Interview in 2012. “I was meditating, and all these ideas just flowed in, in one meditation — all the ideas to finish that into a feature.” In 2019, Lynch received an honorary Oscar for his contributions to film.
Lynch never gave up his early love of painting and continued to create visual art throughout his life. In 1994, he published Images, a book that featured painting, photographs and images from his films. He was also involved in several music projects, including working on the scores of several of his films.
In 2006, he published a book, Catching the Big Fish: Meditation, Consciousness, and Creativity, about transcendental meditation, and in 2018, he published Room to Dream, which was a hybrid of memoir and biography. He directed music videos for artists like Moby, Nine Inch Nails and Donovan, as well as many commercials. He also portrayed director John Ford in Steven Spielberg's 2022 film The Fabelmans.

Lynch was married to first wife Peggy from 1967 to 1974. They shared daughter Jennifer, who also became a director. Jennifer told PEOPLE in 1990, “He was not your normal dad, but he's been the best dad he could be, and we've had a blast.”
From 1977 to 1987, he was married to Mary Fisk. They shared son Austin. From 2006 to 2007, he was married to Mary Sweeney, with whom he shared son Riley. In 2009, he married Emily Stofle, who appeared in Inland Empire and the third season of Twin Peaks. They shared daughter Lula Boginia. Stofle filed for divorce in 2023.
Looking back on his one-of-a-kind career, Lynch was mostly content. “Well, I'm sort of proud of everything except Dune,” he said in a 2020 YouTube video. "I’ve liked so much working in different mediums. It’s not a thing about pride, it’s more like the enjoyment of the doing, enjoyment of the work."
He added, "I’ve just enjoyed working in all these different mediums, and I feel, again, really lucky to have been able to enjoy those things and be able to live."

MIKE EDEL RELEASES NEW SINGLE
Tumblr media
Based in Victoria, indie folk artist Mike Edel has released his latest single, “Challenger.” The song offers social commentary, drawing parallels between the uncertainty of the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster and current political events. The song is embedded with dark undertones, but in an untraditional sense, with its unresolved chord progressions and optimistic instrumentation. Stream the track below.

I'm so sorry to send you this but I can't tell if its parody or not and it's killing me.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Edelgard/comments/opl226/an_analysis_of_the_roles_of_the_actors_in_the_new/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
ok i’m going to leave the link for other people to find bc holy shit i’m still laughing! go nuts
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“edelgard crowned by the goddess’s angel, the wings of the hegemon (byleth). entrusting her to lead humanity to tangible freedom.
fun fact! the angel crowning byleth is not actually a divine angel. it’s based off of the roman goddess victoria, the goddess of victory.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
she’s holding a laurel crown which was given to the winner in war. so no, edelgard isn’t being crowned by byleth. in fact, byleth isn’t even in this mural at all. also ‘tangible freedom’? as opposed to ‘intangible freedom??’ LMAO
“the wings of the hegemon lovingly invites all commoners to reach for their destiny”
no?? we’ve already established that it isn’t byleth and victoria isn’t looking at the people. only edelgard.
“the first and second estate now down and give up their political and military power.”
when have estates ever been brought up in the game? that’s not the ‘estates’ that’s the people of the alliance, kingdom, and church since they are the ones laying down the flags at edelgard’s feet. it’s the people she’s conquered and stole a national and religious identity from.
“the third estate, commoners, throw their caps, join their hands and rejoice in ecstasy.” / “commoners moving to grasp their newfound political strength.”
that’s not the ‘third estate’ it’s the people of adrestia as a whole and yeah they’re happy the war is fucking over. not to mention edel put out a manifesto that she used to sway the people to her war since they were unhappy when she declared it.
“edelgard and byleth jointly step on the flags of the oppression to free the people from their shackles”
not byleth. stop pushing it. and she’s not stepping on the flags of the oppressors, she is the oppressor. she’s the one who by force took land, wealth, and support from unwilling masses who fought back against her control, you buffoon.
“crimson flower’s ending mural is inspired by a real life historical painting, solidifying its position as the canonical true end of fire emblem: three houses”
are you sure you want to die on this hill? napoleon is known as the first modern dictator. not a good look
napoleon compromised the gains of the french revolution by bringing back monarchical rule.
he truncated the powers of the legislature, rewarded his supporters rather than the people, had himself proclaimed emperor, presided over an extravagant court, and showered his family with wealth, positions and privileges.
he reduced the rights of women.
stole art.
he ended freedom of the press, constrained freedom of association, and created a new, greedy nobility.
he kept europe at war for 15 years. which left an estimated 3.5 million to 6 million deaths, and millions wounded. numerous cities, towns and villages were looted, bombarded, or burned. thousands were left homeless. an unknown number of women and girls were raped.
institutions were shattered in the territories he conquered, and the economic life of europe was severely disrupted.
he was the one who chose to invade spain and russia. he refused to take opportunities for peace when they were offered.
he was also responsible for the massacre at jaffa. during the egyptian campaign in 1799, the french laid siege to the city of jaffa. after capturing the city, napoleon allowed his troops to spend at least two days looting the place and raping and slaughtering its inhabitants, including the elderly, women, and children. he also ordered the execution of up to 3,000 prisoners of war (mainly albanians), even though they had been promised mercy when they surrendered to napoleon’s stepson, eugène de beauharnais. the prisoners were marched to the beach and shot or bayoneted. overall, an estimated 4,100 people were massacred by the french at jaffa.
he also left france in a weaker position than when he started. they were exhausted by war, out of money, confined to borders that were smaller than when he came to power, shorn of most of her overseas colonies, and at the mercy of victorious allies.
so yeah that’s just a short list of his crimes. not a good person to compare her to if you want to make her look good. though now i’m tempted to add a part to my essay about their similarities.
also silver snow is also based off of an actual art piece:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so what’s this about cf being the one true end? also the devs said all routes are canon. none are the true end.
“the divine wings that surround the hegemon delivering the goddesses’ final message for a free humanity”
where the fuck is that communicated?
Tumblr media
“destitute commoners unable to feed themselves, quenching for handouts from the rich church” / a country made up of the eternally destitute, ruled by two powerful institutions who they have to depend on”
MRBDKAKSNXJSKSKN fellas is it bad for a government to have a welfare system to help those who were hurt by the war and are struggling to feed themselves? dimitri should just let them starve. if they were really hungry then they would work for it instead of asking for handouts! 😤🙄
“byleth, taking the role of a commissar, counts the possessions of the proletariat”
HELLO?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
oh my god this person is a hardcore capitalist! they’ll just label everything communism with no provocation it would seem. byleth is literally handing out money. not taking shit from the commoners what are you on? crack cocaine?
“dimitri, like a demented man, ignoring his responsibilities while he is absorbed in pandering to his preferred minorities.”
Tumblr media
oh no dimitri has made peace with duscur and is repairing international relations and makes sure children are taken cared of! what a maniac!
“the army emerges as a new power in this militaristic society.”
the army is handing out food… for people who were hurt by edelgard’s war… they’re not fighting. in fact, weapons are sheathed and dimitri’s relic is covered in a duscur patterned cozy as a symbol of peace. there’s no need for weapons.
“commoners on their knees begging for food from the army.”
the people are smiling. they’re happy. they’re being provided relief and the soldiers aren’t hording it
“byleth is a faceless bureaucrat turning their back on the viewer to become another cog in a world ruled by class and status.”
byleth’s face is hidden to mask the gender. plus they’re talking to somebody behind them so that’s where they’re facing

"The Dying King and the Four Knights" - Main Story #8, Part 4 - A Summary
Tumblr media
Videos: First Half, Second Half
Continuing from the last installment, here’s a summary of Part 4! Please note that this part in particular has some pretty major spoilers!
The King and Chancellor trek through the desert in search of the Pearl while the King continues his monologue. "I...could not accept it. That I would have to give up this crown, this throne. When I received the crown from the previous King, he told me this---To the living King, the rising curtain is a curse; to the dying King, the falling curtain is a blessing." He says this is why he rejected those who showed potential to become the next King, all to avoid the path of the dying King. He starts to falter in his step and the Chancellor tells him to stay strong. The King asks for water but the Chancellor apologizes and tells him there's not a single drop left. The King says he's so thirsty and that he's at his limit. He wonders if he'll be able to do it, to pass on his destiny. The Chancellor says he will, that it's his duty as King. The King agrees but says if he can't do it, if he can't pass on the crown and everything else---
We then see Yachiyo being attacked by a korosu and Akira and Michiru again jump in to save her. After the korosu is defeated, Akira says, "That's right... I remember now. Her name is... Tsuruhime Yachiyo."
Tumblr media
Frau Perle -Potential- 2 months ago
The flashback begins with Michiru repeating to Akira a few lines she read from Yachiyo's notebook. Yachiyo had written that Akira continued to be a pillar of strength among the Edels and that Yachiyo's appointed role to watch over them and smooth over any disputes might be coming to a end, and wonders what she'll do if so. Akira asks Michiru if she's certain of what it said. Michiru says she saw it when she circled around behind Yachiyo and that there's no mistake. "...And how exactly did you do that without being noticed? Are you Special Ops?" "More importantly... What are you going to do, Student Council President?"
Akira says that Yachiyo had indeed been behaving strangely and wonders exactly what they should do about it. Michiru says it seems they have a spy amongst the Edels, from the Court of Inquiry. Akira says there's no real proof at the moment. Michiru wonders if that means they're hiding something. Akira asks her why they would, but Michiru is at a loss. Akira decides to find out for herself.
The next day, Yachiyo is completing her accounting work in the Student Council room. She tells Michiru she's finished and takes her leave. Out in the hallway she starts jotting down a report: that she worked with the Student Council after school again today and that there was no change from yesterday; that the relationship between the members is good, with Akira as the pillar at the center of the group---but then, Akira herself shows up and starts repeating the lines from Yachiyo's notebook that she heard from Michiru, about how Yachiyo's duty may be coming to an end and what she'll do about it.
Akira pins Yachiyo to the wall and asks her, "So, Yachiyo. What will you do now?" Yachiyo tells her that peeking at other people's notes is a poor hobby for Frau Platin to have. Akira tells her she's been behaving strangely and she wanted to confirm what was going on. Yachiyo asks how Akira knew about what she wrote, she never parts with her notebook for even a second. Akira says that for Frau Platin, nothing is impossible. Yachiyo is quiet for a moment and then says there's not much she can do if Akira's already seen it.
"That's right. Everything written here is---" " 'I know. It's all the truth.' " "---just my imagination. ...Wait, what?" " 'Hmph... You seem surprised. But, to think you were the spy sent by the Court of Inquiry.' " "Eh, wait... Akira-senpai?" " 'Well, this is the kind of trick that vixen would play. Perhaps she wants the Edels to observe each other...and to look away from the truth hidden in this Institute... Isn't that right?' " " ....Hmmm, I see how it is. 'To think you knew that much... As expected of the Student Council President. I guess there's no use trying to decieve you anymore.' "
They then start a very long improv session, with the basic story being that 'Yachiyo' chose to become a spy to investigate what happened to her older sister Tsuruhime Chitose, who was a previous Student Council President and who mysteriously disappeared during a performance of Elysion. Also something about an underground 'Stage 13'.  Akira then asks Yachiyo (again, all improv) to choose between either cooperating with the Edels to destroy the Court of Inquiry...or death. And that's where the first half ends.
As the second half begins, Yachiyo is about to make her choice when---"This has gone on too long, you two!!" Michiru makes a sudden appearance and startles Yachiyo. She says, "Honestly, I came to see how Akira was handling the situation, but you two just kept improvising forever!" Yachiyo says, "Improvising... Oh... That's right. I got completely pulled in." Akira says she didn't expect Yachiyo to play along that far and that it was impressive. Yachiyo says that with Akira skillfully leading, the role just came tumbling out.
Michiru says, "The 'role', huh." Michiru says Yachiyo has been playing that role of the Court of Inquiry's spy for months now. Yachiyo says that's what it turned into, yes. Akira tells her that playing that 'role' everyday is no simple feat. Yachiyo says Akira is the outrageous one, going that far with their improvisation. Michiru says this is nothing for Akira, she's always acting something out in her head. Yachiyo says she didn't know there was anyone other than herself who did that.
Michiru says, "So, what's written in your notebook really is..." Yachiyo says it's all just a daydream, nothing but her imagination. She says she's always loved daydreams and fantasies. That she's always loved pretending to be someone else and going to other places in her head. But that her parents, classmates, and teachers...no one understood it. Akira says, "An everyday stage, huh." Yachiyo says right, something like that.
Michiru asks her what the 'Court of Inquiry' thing was about. Yachiyo says she wanted to see if she could keep the role a secret from everyone, and that was her pretense. Akira says playing the role of a spy everyday would certainly make things thrilling. Yachiyo says, "Right? Exactly!" and Michiru says to herself, "They're really hitting it off..."
Yachiyo says she was trying to play the part perfectly and wonders where she messed up. Akira says it's simple. The actual person who the Board of Inquiry authorized to watch over the Student Council members...is Michiru. Michiru is momentarily caught of guard by this, but confirms it. Yachiyo lets out a cry of shock. "M-Michiru-senpai is on the Court of Inquiry!? No, wait, the Court of Inquiry is an actual thing!?" Michiru says, "O-Of course. That's why we weren't flustered when we saw your notebook. Geez, you were supposed to keep it a secret, Akira!" Akira says it was only right to tell Yachiyo the truth after that splendid improv.
Yachiyo starts asking what sort of organization the Court of Inquiry is and what sort of things they do. Michiru says the one at the top of the organization is the head of the Institute, Victoria Siegfeld, the one mentioned in the student handbook. She says it's a large organization of 108 members. Yachiyo seems to believe her and says she really can't compare to the real thing, then apologizes for her shoddy acting.
Akira says that it may have been in part because of her setting of the scene...but that as a Stage Girl, Yachiyo is the real thing. She says that daydreams and imagination are both wonderful things. That pretending to be someone else and going somewhere else inside your head, that's the Stage Girl ideal. She tells Yachiyo not to be hesitant or uncertain. That as a Stage Girl, it's fine to act just because you want to. A planet of daydreams, a world of delusions---that's their living Stage. Higher, further, no matter how far... "All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players."
Yachiyo recognizes it as a Shakespeare quote and says she learned it from Seisho's Junna-san. Akira says she's correct and tells her stick to her path. "Here at Siegfeld, there's no need to be ashamed of acting." Yachiyo is quiet for a moment and then says that no one has ever told her that before. That, until now...no one has ever joined her on her stage. She asks Akira why she did it. Michiru says, "It's because she's a Butai Baka." Akira asks Michiru not to call her that. Yachiyo starts laughing and says she likes the sound of it. Akira chuckles too, and tells Yachiyo that if she remains her own style of Butai Baka...that she might be able to become it. Siegfeld's next King.
Michiru is surprised and Yachiyo asks, "The next King... You mean, the next Frau Platin and Student Council President?" Akira says perhaps. Yachiyo asks if she really thinks she can do it. Akira says the stage will improve one's acting and that includes the Student Council President role. And besides, like Akira has Michiru, Yachiyo has Mei Fan and Shiori. The rest is up to her to decide what stage she wants to stand on. Yachiyo thinks it over and then taunts Akira a bit, saying "But if I start aiming to be the next King, you might lose your place as the current King, y'know~?"
Akira pauses but then chuckles. She says Yachiyo is right, but that she understands it now, the meaning of that line. "To the living King, the rising curtain is a curse; to the dying King, the falling curtain is a blessing." Yachiyo is confused but Akira says she'll understand in time too, but until that day---"I'll be depending on your Student Council work. Frau Perle... Tsuruhime Yachiyo." Yachiyo laughs a bit and says this really is the first time anyone has said these things to her. She then takes a deep breath, and like Mei Fan and Shiori, she recites her pledge.
"Thousands upon thousands of years, solo after solo The polished, isolated Pearl The stage's border, the play's equinox Shining there, the Platinum truth" Frau Perle, Tsuruhime Yachiyo. All the world's a stage, and even the King is merely a player---did you know?
Yachiyo then tells Akira that she'll be relying on her as well from now on.
The scene transitions to later that day, while Akira and Michiru are out on a walk. They look at each other silently for a moment and then Akira says, "I think 108 members is too many." Michiru retorts, "It's because you went and said something absurd! How exactly am I part of the Court of Inquiry!?" Akira says it was an improvisation. Michiru calls her a Butai Baka again and sighs. Michiru says she better understands how amazing Yachiyo is now, though. And why it was she seemed so elusive. Akira wonders if she's the type of Stage Girl with a 'possession method' of acting, and that if so, it had already bore fruit. Michiru asks her if she's talking about Yachiyo being chosen for the Earth Goddess role. Akira says it was a wonderful performance for a first year, wasn't it? Michiru says she understands now. Who the King considers next in line---
The scene jumps back to the King and Chancellor, having just retrieved the Pearl. The King is amazed they were able to find a spring here in the desert. The Chancellor says it must have been thanks to the Pearl's guidance. The King says his body feels restored and that he feels a will to live again, a thirst for tomorrow. He says it's the same feeling he felt seeing that Young Knight's potential. He says if it's to that Young Knight...he might not mind passing on the kingdom. The Chancellor is surprised but the King says the Young Knight shares his blood, the result of a one-night stand with a dancer on his travels. The King says they should finish collecting the gems and return to the capital, so he can pass on the crown to the Young Knight. The Chancellor is quiet, then says, "...As you wish, my King. Let us go, to the frozen lands of the north---"

There are so many books out this week, and we’re thrilled! Which of these are on your TBR list?
The Everlasting Rose (The Belles #2) by Dhonielle Clayton Freeform
In this sequel to the instant New York Times bestseller, Camille, her sister Edel, and her guard and new love Remy must race against time to find Princess Charlotte. Sophia’s Imperial forces will stop at nothing to keep the rebels from returning Charlotte to the castle and her rightful place as queen. With the help of an underground resistance movement called The Iron Ladies-a society that rejects beauty treatments entirely-and the backing of alternative newspaper The Spider’s Web, Camille uses her powers, her connections and her cunning to outwit her greatest nemesis, Sophia, and restore peace to Orleans.
The Last 8 (The Last 8 #1) by Laura Pohl Sourcebooks Fire
A high-stakes survival story about eight teenagers who outlive an alien attack—perfect for fans of The 5th Wave
Clover Martinez has always been a survivor, which is the only reason she isn’t among the dead when aliens invade and destroy Earth as she knows it.
When Clover hears an inexplicable radio message, she’s shocked to learn there are other survivors—and that they’re all at the former Area 51. When she arrives, she’s greeted by a band of misfits who call themselves The Last Teenagers on Earth.
Only they aren’t the ragtag group of heroes Clover was expecting. The group seems more interested in hiding than fighting back, and Clover starts to wonder if she was better off alone. But then she finds a hidden spaceship, and she doesn’t know what to believe…or who to trust.
Barely Missing Everything by Matt Mendez Atheneum/Caitlyn Dlouhy Books
Juan has plans. He’s going to get out of El Paso, Texas, on a basketball scholarship and make something of himself—or at least find something better than his mom Fabi’s cruddy apartment, her string of loser boyfriends, and a dead dad. Basketball is going to be his ticket out, his ticket up. He just needs to make it happen.
His best friend JD has plans, too. He’s going to be a filmmaker one day, like Quinten Tarantino or Guillermo del Toro (NOT Steven Spielberg). He’s got a camera and he’s got passion—what else could he need?
Fabi doesn’t have a plan anymore. When you get pregnant at sixteen and have been stuck bartending to make ends meet for the past seventeen years, you realize plans don’t always pan out, and that there some things you just can’t plan for…
Like Juan’s run-in with the police, like a sprained ankle, and a tanking math grade that will likely ruin his chance at a scholarship. Like JD causing the implosion of his family. Like letters from a man named Mando on death row. Like finding out this man could be the father your mother said was dead.
Soon Juan and JD are embarking on a Thelma and Louise–like road trip to visit Mando. Juan will finally meet his dad, JD has a perfect subject for his documentary, and Fabi is desperate to stop them. But, as we already know, there are some things you just can’t plan for…
Dealing in Dreams by Lilliam Rivera Simon Schuster Books for Young Readers
At night, Las Mal Criadas own these streets.
Nalah leads the fiercest all-girl crew in Mega City. That roles brings with it violent throw downs and access to the hottest boydega clubs, but the sixteen-year-old grows weary of the life. Her dream is to get off the streets and make a home in the exclusive Mega Towers, in which only a chosen few get to live. To make it to the Mega towers, Nalah must prove her loyalty to the city’s benevolent founder and cross the border in a search for a mysterious gang the Ashé Ryders. Led by a reluctant guide, Nalah battles other crews and her own doubts, but the closer she gets to her goal, the more she loses sight of everything—and everyone— she cares about.
Nalah must do the unspeakable to get what she wants—a place to call home. But is a home just where you live? Or who you choose to protect?
Opposite of Always by Justin A. Reynolds Katherine Tegen Books
Jack Ellison King. King of Almost.
He almost made valedictorian.
He almost made varsity.
He almost got the girl . . .
When Jack and Kate meet at a party, bonding until sunrise over their mutual love of Froot Loops and their favorite flicks, Jack knows he’s falling—hard. Soon she’s meeting his best friends, Jillian and Franny, and Kate wins them over as easily as she did Jack. Jack’s curse of almost is finally over.
But this love story is . . . complicated. It is an almost happily ever after. Because Kate dies. And their story should end there. Yet Kate’s death sends Jack back to the beginning, the moment they first meet, and Kate’s there again. Beautiful, radiant Kate. Healthy, happy, and charming as ever. Jack isn’t sure if he’s losing his mind. Still, if he has a chance to prevent Kate’s death, he’ll take it. Even if that means believing in time travel. However, Jack will learn that his actions are not without consequences. And when one choice turns deadly for someone else close to him, he has to figure out what he’s willing to do—and let go—to save the people he loves.
The Shadowglass (The Bone Witch #3) by Rin Chupeco Sourcebooks Fire
The dramatic finale to The Bone Witch series! Tea’s dark magic eats away at her, but she must save the one she loves most, even while her life—and the kingdoms—are on the brink of destruction.
In the Eight Kingdoms, none have greater strength or influence than the asha, who hold elemental magic. But only a bone witch has the power to raise the dead. Tea has used this dark magic to breathe life into those she has loved and lost…and those who would join her army against the deceitful royals. But Tea’s quest to conjure a shadowglass, to achieve immortality for the one person she loves most in the world, threatens to consume her.
Tea’s heartsglass only grows darker with each new betrayal. Her work with the monstrous azi, her thirst for retribution, her desire to unmask the Faceless—they all feed the darkrot that is gradually consuming her heartsglass. She is haunted by blackouts and strange visions, and when she wakes with blood on her hands, Tea must answer to a power greater than the elder asha or even her conscience. Tea’s life—and the fate of the kingdoms—hangs in the balance.
The Quiet You Carry by Nikki Barthelmess Flux
Victoria Parker knew her dad’s behavior toward her was a little unusual, but she convinced herself everything was fine—until she found herself locked out of the house at 3:00 a.m., surrounded by flashing police lights.
Now, dumped into a crowded, chaotic foster home, Victoria has to tiptoe around her domineering foster mother, get through senior year at a new school, and somehow salvage her college dreams . . . all while keeping her past hidden.
But some secrets won’t stay buried—especially when unwanted memories make Victoria freeze up at random moments and nightmares disrupt her sleep. Even worse, she can’t stop worrying about her stepsister Sarah, left behind with her father. All she wants is to move forward, but how do you focus on the future when the past won’t leave you alone?
You Asked for Perfect by Laura Silverman Sourcebooks Fire
Senior Ariel Stone is the perfect college applicant: first chair violin, dedicated community volunteer, and expected valedictorian. He works hard – really hard – to make his life look effortless. A failed Calculus quiz is not part of that plan. Not when he’s number one. Not when his peers can smell weakness like a freshman’s body spray.
Figuring a few all-nighters will preserve his class rank, Ariel throws himself into studying. His friends will understand if he skips a few plans, and he can sleep when he graduates. Except Ariel’s grade continues to slide. Reluctantly, he gets a tutor. Amir and Ariel have never gotten along, but Amir excels in Calculus, and Ariel is out of options.
Ariel may not like Calc, but he might like Amir. Except adding a new relationship to his long list of commitments may just push him past his limit.

New Video: The Poignant and Heartbreaking Visuals for Mike Edel's "Houdini" @mikeedelmusic @clarioncallpr
Earlier this year, I wrote about the Linden, Alberta, Canada-born folk singer/songwriter and guitarist Mike Edel, who currently splits time between Seattle, WA and Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.  And as you may recall, Edel can trace the origins of his music career to around 2008 — and since then he’s released two EPs, 2008’s Hide from the Seasons and 2012’s The Country Where I Came

Mohair Wolle kaufen – Stricken mit Lang Yarns Mohair Luxe und Trend
Tumblr media
Neu entdecken: Was ist Mohair Wolle?
Herrlich erfrischende Sommer Kleidung
Wärmende Winterkleidung für den Kopf
Bunte Kleidung für Kinder
Bei Spielzeug als Puppenhaar oder für Plüschtiere
Jetzt will Mohair Wolle kaufen!
