luke stans are soooo sexy for those choices of fav card. (i know dark ripple isn’t a personal fav but in my head i know it makes sense.) also it makes me want to get traces over time even more now but ;; we’ll see if it’s possible (it’s almost right after anniversary and bakerlon is soon after it too...)

entwined fate artem is legendary as usual... his 2nd anniv card is also there which i had mixed feelings on but looking at the rest of the responses (including/especially the invitations) it was a pretty clear 2nd anniv SWEEP so yeah i’m not surprised. (kinda strange that no 1st anniv cards show up at all tho)

medieval suspense vyn. ok THIS is legendary -- who else can say that one of their permanent rotation cards is consistently at the top?? vyn started off strong right out the gate and he hasn’t slowed down since. these are EXCELLENT choices for vyn as well, though i’m surprised by hungering desire; i was honestly thinking food for thought might be there (i was HOPING neon melody would be, but i know that card’s a little divisive so i didn’t expect it. it’s #1 to ME though <3)

i’m pretty sure i cheered when marius’s turn was next and then fabulous feast PV started playing xDD honestly my top picks for each LI showed up in all the #1 spots so that was soooo satisfying. a lot of these aren’t my personal favorites but i (guess????) can understand the choices. but i honestly have no idea why out of all his AU cards, bakerlon got picked. it doesn’t even have a vincent sprite i like the card but his desert and gufeng AU were more memorable to me.

ok maybe this shouldn’t have been in the tags. i guess i had more to say than i thought (surprise surprise). i guess things that are interesting to me are that only vyn and marius have AU cards in their choices; is it a coincidence that their stories usually take the most risks in diverging from canon? in addition, there aren’t many cards from the third year of cards (i.e. after the 2nd anniv) and one of them is AU so -- WAIT HOLD ON JUST NOTICED SOMETHING

vyn’s and marius’s have a similar one, but swap the birthday card for an AU, and vyn’s personal story card is his first one.

but anyway, that consistency between luke and artem is fascinating. i think stability and gradual relationship progression is something fans might value especially in their stories, so that might be why the canon cards are prioritized? just some ideas, but interesting to think about.

also they didn’t say in the livestream which responses they chose to display but i’m assuming that they’re showing the most voted/popular ones?

ah, last thing i’m adding: i think it would’ve been SO cool to see an SR make it up there. if luke’s a star in the palm SR showed up i would’ve YELLED omg (even though i know “how i remember you” has a better chance). or imagine FALSE TEARS or MERCURY IN RETROGRADE?? iconic

i do, in fact, read all the cards i get from any boi! if i pulled it i've read it! there was this one time i was pulling for perfect partner on the standard banner (because i had the tears) and i ended up getting narrow road. while i was bumbed i still read it. i don't have a lot of marius cards (rrg 1 was horrible for me LMAO) and i want to learn more about him so i read it. the s-chips were a plus too!

im not exactly a collector of cards. like if i get them i get them and if i don't i don't, there's nothing wrong with that. but! i do have a bias for cards i do collect, and that's...

behold my artem collection! i have almost every single ssr except the paid one (which, fair) and the stretching MR (rrg2 pulls weren't good so i had to go full ham on the tears, rip s-chips). otherwise i have every single artem card. he's the one i wanna treat like a pokémon. gotta catch 'em all

as for watching them on youtube: i tend to avoid it if i can. there's the vyn polo sr card that i don't have and i WANT IT but it hasn't been in the gatcha stars, but i haven't looked it up on youtube mostly because i hate the reading speeds 💀

like i want to be able to read at my own pace, ya know? actually i can compare this to a bit of twisted wonderland since they have similar UIs (you tap to proceed with the story) but the translations for twst are all placed as dialogue on some websites. while yes videos still exist, i much prefer the dialogue transcribed, even if i don't hear the voices. i have half the mind to transcribe all the cards i have for ease of access but nah. i'll do it if someone pays me 💀😂

though that's not to say i haven't seen some on youtube, which i have. ive seen vyns anni card, artem's anni card, artem's birthday card, and artem's revisiting youth card (there's a pattern, as you can tell). it's just,,, kinda aggravating not being able go at my own pace so they're the only cards i've ever watched. it's usually only bc my curiosity got the better of me, i like going into cards blind (or i needed it for a thing™️) i know youtube has a transcript function but it rewinds back to where the video is stopped and it's annoying af to keep clicking so i don't loose my place, so i really try not to lmaoo.

im so sorry but this is worded in a way i find absolutely hilarious omfg. do they cry or do they suck it up til the end of time? KJAHVSJFHAVSLFSFKJA

i like to think they Do cry, but my god it takes a Lot. this goes for All of them. like, we've seen in canon when the nxx boys and rosa cries, and it's usually during/after very high stakes or very emotional situations. some examples off the top of my head are

marius cries in SSR Unconcealable, the card where mc gets KIDNAPPED and then both of them get TRAPPED IN A FREEZER FOR A HOT SEC

mc cries in SSR Peaceful Place because she thought luke got shot and DIED,

luke cries in his Blossom Chapter Personal Story 4 because he thought mc DROWNED AND DIED

artem cries in SSR Two Hearts as one because he got so emotional acting like he was choking mc

vyn cries in...well, several cards like SR False Tears and SSR Neon Melody but those were 1) not exactly a "healthy" way of dealing with emotions or 2) caused by pepper spray KJHVSKJDF. im behind on vyn's cards, idk in which ones he cries honestly due to genuine in distress

so like, they DO cry. but it seems to take rather a lot to get them there. the flipside is that they also cry when overcome with immensely positive emotion (like, mc was on the verge of tears when luke finally proposed in SSR Orange Scent) so at least theres that!!!! but it's not much, chief....

all members of the nxx team all are IMMENSELY repressed. i think the most emotionally healthy of the team is DAVIS, which isnt a good sign, given that hes not even human

anyhoo this ask inspired me so

here are some misc headcanons on the nxx team and crying

i hc that luke as a kid was Such a crybaby. he'd cry over everything: when he saw a sad movie, when he saw a happy movie, when he saw a dog being walked but the dog was so dang small, when mc cries and his high empathy kicks in to make it Our Cry Session, just...he cried over IT ALL. he was just a very emotionally sensitive child, even to emotions from others. he eventually got emotionally steadier as he grew up but i think there are innocuous movies that, due to him crying over them as a kid, still make luke cry as an adult

marius: man i love this movie, absolute classi---WHY ARE YOU CRYING??

luke: because ANYBODY can COOK!! EVEN A RAT!!!!!

mc, silently glaring at marius over luke's shoulder as if to say "Don't You Say A Mean Word To Him Right Now": O_O

vyn has mastered crying on cue and can do it at the drop of a hat, but when he REALLY TRULY ACTUALLY is hit by the genuine need to cry for any reason, be it positive or negative, he cannot stop it at all until its run its natural course.

which is just AGONIZING for him, surely, but this is the price he has to pay for the power of being able to cry on command: not be able to stop when it's for realsies

it slightly pisses everyone off a teensy bit that artem can cry artfully.

like, the single tear. the lines of silent tears streaming down his face. even the more desperate sobs. doesnt matter whether theyre stage tears for another play or if theyre during high stakes situations, artem seems to naturally cry in a cinematic manner

luke: hey it's okay, everyone's alright

luke internal thoughts: why is he so pretty while crying?????? .....wait what

and lastly, marius can hold back tears like nobodys business. like luke, he was a huge crybaby as a kid. but unlike luke, he held it back so much that when he DID cry as a child, it was REALLY CRYING. like wailing, like sobbing. it's heartbreaking to watch

so via his Entire Life Of Repressing Weakness And Related Emotions, he became rlly powerful at holding back the need to cry. it only happens during VERY EMOTIONALLY INTENSE scenarios ORRRR

during horror movies

because hes such a horror weakling and he gets so spooked that tears literally come out

So I finally read Vyn’s Winterwish SR Timeless Wishes and it has NO right to be this funny. I was laughing the whole way through

First, we continue the saga of Vyn unable to handle the cold (like fair enough dude, he’s wearing THREE layers in this card -- vest, shirt, turtleneck). Attached screenshot is from the Blizzardous Threads of Red invitation where we see Vyn trying to imply he is this close to freezing. (It's because he's not wearing gloves...)

And then MC goes ahead and calls him a PATHETIC MEOW MEOW--

Next up, we have Vyn getting unintentionally psychoanalyzed by the handicraft shop owner. Hey. Hey Vyn... how does it feel to have the tables turned on you...

Then Vyn and MC return home and we get THIS BIT that still makes me laugh:

Vyn, what are you using Ogier for??? Is cleaning your room all the SPECIALLY TRAINED BODYGUARD is good for? This is so hilariously baffling to me. Does Ogier literally drop by Vyn's place just to tidy up? Is he going to walk into the room and sigh at the sight of Vyn's bedroom floor covered in a ridiculous amount of yarn? And this begs the question: what else does Vyn call on Ogier for? To deep clean the kitchen?? Ogier, my guy, I genuinely wonder how you feel about this because you are not beating the butler allegations...

Okay, and then we get some wholesome fluff where Vyn and MC exchange gifts, but Vyn looks so perplexed at MC's collection of wishing cards that I had to include this screenshot. MC truly never fails to surprise him.

And then after the card story is done, we get THIS text conversation when MC declares she wants to make... DIY slime. Vyn's reaction is what makes this part for me. Mr Fancy Two Degrees honestly had no clue what slime was and was probably mildly concerned at her suggestion (although she explains what she means by slime after the cutoff).

Vyn, expecting normal activities like crochet or pressing flowers: What shall we try next?

The second text message references the Cooking Card again and I just thought it was hilarious that Vyn purposely misunderstands the point of the card. He uno reversed the situation on her, but I can't really fault him for that. It's definitely a Vyn move.

thing you should know about vyn that makes him 1000× funnier

So you know that post that's like

Yeah. Yeah thats vyn deadass. At least one phonecall, maybe a couple stories and definitely main story chapter 10 (i think?), the one where Artem almost dies. He sees some tragedy play out whether it's a story EG the cowherd and weaver girl (phonecall), his parent's outcome of splitting up (food for thought), or artem and MC being in mortal peril or whatever, then goes "aha couldnt be me, I would never let that happen." Like PLEASE 😭😭 if ur not a vyn fan pls understand this man is so FUNNY. He goes all "oh, that's a nice story :) how unfortunate for them. I, on the other hand, would never let that happen, MC."

And you know it's Vyn so theres a good chance it probably WOULDNT happen. This man is prideful (wont allow himself to bug others, let anyone pity him, shows off in front of MC, lowkey jealous too but in a funny way- this man isnt yandere or anything hes just a funny little guy) but in a subtle tm way.

Also another small funny thing about him showing off- 1st chapter of his personal story, this pickup artist tries showing off to MC to woo her and after he goes "😌🤓☝️ermh actually he was wrong abt the montblanc facts + i sent you these delicious ones i made myself", SHOWING OFF and one-upping the dude only a few hours after. Also the SR story where he A) sees MC enchanted by a magic show so he practices a magic trick in secret to look like a pro before her (literally dude looks like hes a pro but hes "anxious to outdo others" and usually practices smth in secret to look like a pro) B) sees her rave abt it when his old friend performed it so he goes all "hey dont u think magicians are LIARS theyre actually not that impressive" before losing a light hearted debate with MC abt it and C) gets insecure when he had to perform his trick right after they see a more elaborate magic trick and whem MC goes "no i want to see it im sure itll be great" and when he does he goes "I can do what they can do. I wont lose to anyone in front of you."

This guy is SO funny. I figured hed be the elegant, standoffish yet caring character who maybe did some dark stuff on the side. But no bc i was expecting another Lucien but this guy is HILARIOUS with a lot of subversive moments and traits (lots of the characters are). This dude is less of a threat and more of a silly little guy once you read more
