"When I walk through the aisles at the supermarket, looking at all the products for sale around me, perhaps I can tell which ones are manufactured from the exploitation of animals, but I can’t tell which ones — if any — are manufactured without exploiting anyone or anything. That is one of the biggest drawbacks about our modern mass-production/distribution/consumption economy: by the time the product has reached you, it is virtually impossible to tell who made it, how it was made, what it was made from, or where it has been. Toilet paper, canned kidney beans, and athletic shoes all sit on the shelves next to each other, as if they appeared out of the air, and it would be a long hard struggle to track down any real, sound information about the origins of any of them. But there are some things I do know, though, even if I can’t research the life story of each individual packet of ramen noodles: there are migrant workers in this country who are underpaid and mistreated, there are corporations (like Pepsi) known for supporting totalitarian governments that mercilessly destroy human life, there are shoe manufacturers (like Nike) that underpay and mistreat foreign workers, there are companies (like Exxon) whose policies result in permanent damage to the environment. So the idea that you can be sure that your dollars are not financing anything inhumane or destructive just by examining the ingredients of a product and ascertaining that it includes no animal products strikes me as absurd. There are a thousand other kinds of oppression, just as outrageous as animal oppression, that keep the wheels of our economy turning, and there is no reason to be less concerned about any of them than about animal oppression. *** In the meantime, rather than practicing veganism, I practice “freeganism.” I know that as long as I participate in the mainstream economy, whether I am buying vegan or non-vegan products, I am supporting the corporations which represent world capitalism. So rather than just buying animal-friendly products, I try to purchase as few products as possible. I’ve written about this in earlier issues of Inside Front: it is possible, through thrifty living, creative “urban hunting and gathering,” and projects like Food Not Bombs, to survive without contributing more than a minimal amount of money or labor to the mainstream economy. Anything I can get for free at the expense of the exploiting, oppressing capitalist system is a strike against that system, while purchasing vegan food from Taco Bell (which is owned by Pepsi Co.) is still putting money into the hands of an oppressive, exploiting corporation. I live off of whatever resources I can scrounge or steal from our society, trying to avoid animal products when I can, but concentrating above all on keeping my money and labor out of of their hands. *** There are some great things about veganism, by the way. First of all, if you can’t bear to put anything into your body that was actually made from the corpse of another living being, veganism is a way to avoid that (although it DOES NOT magically confer the “innocence” of animal exploitation that hardline morons claim for themselves, as my discussion of capitalism and other forms of oppression should make clear). Also, it gives you a different relationship to the food you eat than most of us have: it makes you consider where it came from and what’s in it, rather than just taking it for granted, and it also will probably make you a better cook! And finally, it brings up the issue for everybody. When you won’t eat food unless you know what is in it, it forces the people around you to think for themselves about what is in the food and how it got there. In that way, veganism does more to change the world than writing lengthy political responses to letters ever could: it brings up important questions in everyday life and forces people think about questions that they wouldn’t otherwise encounter." -Veganism, Crimethinc

DON'T GET GREEDY AND WAX FOR NO REASON
DON'T GET GREEDY AND WAX FOR NO REASON
August 21, 2023
I.EVERYDAY I’M HUSTLING
In these survival days, hustling is all that really matters, and people hustles varies from person to person. No matter what hustle it is, don’t get greedy and start being super tax man, this is mostly in reference when dealing with celebrities.
You may have saw the video where Meek Mill is attempting to purchase the Nike SB x Air Jordan IVs (man those are some beauties) and the guy on the video wants to charge Meek the tax price. Meek urges that he can get the sneakers at retail from the store, so why would he pay him the tax price plus if he would’ve showed love, Meek would’ve been incentivized to shop even more with the young bull.
First, Meek is capping, you can’t get those sneakers at retail, maybe a lower price than what buddy was selling them for but they will be above retail, too much hype around them. These days everything work off hype. If you don’t get them at release you ain’t getting them without paying the resale ticket, unless the shoe sat on the shelf, you might get an under retail price.
Secondly, his point still stands and he’s absolutely correct in theory. Taking off shoe guy and putting it on general hustlers for a minute. When you are selling a product and its fire and consistent, eventually you will catch the eye of a celebrity, maybe multiple.
II.SHOW YOU HOW TO DO THIS SON!
I can attest to this personally multiple times, I’ll just use one example for now. Some years ago I drew a pic of YG and Kamaiyah. YG dm’d me about purchasing it you know of course I was excited. This was in early corner days too, so I first started getting celebrity attention/recognition. Before I could respond you know I told some of my people.
You know what they said instantly after I told them the news. “You need to charge him a band”, “Oh yeah he gotta at least drop 4Hunnid on the pic”, and other nonsense.
No disrespect to the people that told me this but this is why people can’t scale up because they wanna do stupid stuff like that and tax for no reason.
III.CAN’T TEACH NO ONE HOW TO HUSTLE..
Just because someone’s a celebrity do not mean you charge unwarranted high prices, it instantly throws smut on your name and can close doors that you ain’t even noticed that was opened. Let me explain why I didn’t tax YG in the first place.
1) the picture was only 8” x 10”, 2) that is a small picture , and 3) it was a sketch without much detail. It was colored and great in my style but my pricing is always on what I would pay for it. Also, the bigger the size the more it is reasonable to charge high prices.
I wouldn’t pay over a few hundred for a small picture unless it was by an artist whose work was unattainable, if it was to personally support an artist I know, or if it is extremely detailed but the canvas chosen is just small.
This particular picture did not fit my laid in criteria, if any normal person wanted that same picture I wouldn’t have charged them more than $50 at that time. Now he never followed through on the purchase but imagined if I would’ve came at him saying give me a rack for this. If he’s smart with his money, he would’ve instantly been off put and possibly stopped any other doors that could’ve been opened.
When it comes to celebrities you have to think more than the money, they carry an audience. Why do you think they get so many free items in the first place? They are walking billboards plus they can actually employ if you’re actually dope enough.
That YG interaction I had could’ve went a thousand ways, now it didn’t go anywhere but I definitely wouldn’t had helped if I came out the gate thinking “get as much money as I can out of him.” That’s short sighted, fast-money, flip everything thinking. You may get a payday but you lose out on the long term. I couldn’t play myself like that in life I think in long term for everything!! Its how I maintained the patience and faith to become a lawyer and run this website because there are extreme peaks and valleys!
So if you got a hustle going on learn from that vid with Meek and this article. Think about the bigger opportunity, think about what is attached to a person with clout, how doors can be opened if you treat this rare interaction the way its supposed to go. Don’t lose out your blessings beloved, Get money..

Atheists and Nike - The God Question
Most people believe that atheists know very little about God or religion concluding that they do not believe in an all-powerful supreme being. However, this is not a belief but rather a rejection that such deities exist. This means their very existence was created by the God question wherein religious leaders failed to solve the Nike problem. According to the Atheist and Wikipedia, atheism is the "rejection of the assertion that there are gods'' or a "rejection of the belief that any deities exist." In 1999, Clasius Adams Fennel told the Pentecostal Church of God that he did "not believe in God and I am not an atheist." This historian did not share common beliefs that atheists were god haters. Instead, he tried to prove that he was created by the very churches that he now contradicts. Unfortunately, Fennel is not alone. A 2023 PRRI survey found that 51% of non-Christians were once protestants
Atheists and Nike - The God Question
Over the years the percentage of Americans who identify as non-religious has been growing steadily. A PEW research found that in 2007 there were only 16% compared to 29% in 2021. Of these respondents, 3% were now atheist and 5% agnostic. Agnostics take the middle ground being unable to deny or confirm that deities exist. Unfortunately, many of these people were once firm religious believers who ran head-on with the Nike problem. They abandoned their faith choosing to stand on the middle line or fully deny the existence of supreme beings. What is the Nike problem? Like any other shoe factory, Nike was created as a source of income for its founders Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight. However, within a short time, the company became a brand, a household name, and finally the correct sign. The company no longer advertised its name, just that well-known symbol. Interesting, right? Nonetheless, three things have set Nike apart from the pack and have kept it ahead over the years. Reports from Statista and Esquire ME show Nike as the number one US shoe brand and the best-selling shoe (Nike Airforce 1) in the world in 2023. - One logo: Nike has only one symbol, a unique logo using the 'correct' sign. It doesn't matter where you are in the world, Nike is the same. - Nike has no limitations: Nike is a universal shoe company that has no known discrimination - gender, age, race, social or economic ladders. Anyone can wear the brand. -  Nike products are user-owned: When the company releases its products, everyone can own them. People who purchase a pair may use them for their own benefits as they so desire. The company has changed over the years in improving the quality of the products it provides but has not changed its core values.
Why People Convert to Atheists or Agnostics
No one is born an expert. Time is responsible for grooming them into who they will become - a doctor, a mechanic, a writer.  Once upon a time over 51% of Americans believed in a supreme being and followed a religious leader or a church in its concept. Notably, 33,089 Christian denominations in the world are responsible for teaching about God. Here are three main reasons they have created atheists or agnostics. - Will the real God please stand up: There are 33,089 different presentations of this Christian diety and claim to have the "true and living God." Which denomination is correct? So many different logos. Confused members find more questions than answers. - Strange deities: These churches all present different sides of this supreme being of love. For some, he promotes slavery, for others women's inferiority, racism, hatred of evildoers, and the destruction of the human race.  Can someone please define love, again? - Socialism: Some of these organisms have supreme leaders who dictate the rules that govern their followers' lives. The freedom granted by democracy is suddenly swept away. These leaders have gifts and rights to the possessions of their members. All ordered by this diety. After being subjected to these conditions, it's a matter of common sense. People will reason and when they do, they walk away from their doubts. Unlike the Nike brand, these deities come face to face with rejection losing more believers each year.     Read the full article

Where can I find these men's sleeveless hoodie tank tops with the cut stringer design?
There are a few places you can find men's sleeveless hoodie tank tops with a cut stringer design to showcase your physique and allow for greater mobility:
Many athletic and fitness apparel brands like Under Armour, Nike, Reebok, and Lululemon offer various styles of these types of tops. You can check their websites or visit their retail stores to browse the selections.
Some specialty fitness and bodybuilding clothing brands, like Gymshark, Muscle Pharm, and Body Engineers, also have a wide range of men's sleeveless hoodie tank tops with the cut stringer design.
Sites like Amazon, Zappos, and specialty fitness/supplement retailers often have a good assortment of these types of tops from multiple brands that you can compare and purchase online.
I'd recommend browsing reviews and sizing information to find the right fit and features that meet your needs for your bodybuilding, gym workouts, and other fitness activities. Let me know if you need any other recommendations on where to find these products.

I wanted to go over the learning objectives to make sure I have completed every part of the project that I can. This is just a brief (ish) summary of each part, the rest is just all on this blog.
LO1-
Demonstrate your ability to develop a clear understanding of the relationship of research to your practice in forming a personal and critical viewpoint in the realisation, refinement and production of your Major Project.
The research that I have completed, from looking into Maira Kalman, to my primary research ilike my interviews has vastly inspired my final outcome both visually and conceptually. I personally found the interviews that I conducted the most important part of my research as it helped me to create an outcome that solved the problem the people I interviewed outlined. Thinking about the presence of handbags and how pockets elevates this, thinking about how money and overconsumption concerns meant some people didn't want to purchase new jeans helped me reallise that making a step by step guide on how to achieve deep pockets at home would be a great secondary outcome. Some of the issues and viewpoints outlined in interviews are things I would have never considered, so the input of others were invaluable to the progression of my work. I think also looking into previous campaigns helped me to structure my script for the presentation video to ensure I got my message across clearly. Looking at campaigns by Nike showed me that brands can spark change and imply that others follow their lead which is what I tried to have with this project.
LO2-
Demonstrate sustained and effective development of a practical working methodology to a topic that you have defined and which includes speculation on new and effective approaches that are at the forefront of Visual Communication practice.
Throughout this project I have explored different ways of approaching a solution to the problems proposed. The way I did this often was through my illustrations, many of which are present in my process book. this means that I could look through any ideas, no matter how silly and see them visually which meant that I could work out ways of practically producing them. My adverts went through many different variations where I experimented how they would look on mockups and also how clearly they demonstrated my idea. I used feedback from my peers and tutorials to guide this. The pocket tester is a physical outcome that im really proud of, the idea came from some of my illustrations which as my project progressed, I returned to and adapted to fit in with both H&Ms branding and also my own personal style. The result is a unique piece that would not only drive sales for H&M but also raise awareness of the issue itself.
LO3-
Demonstrate an ability to authoritatively and independently project manage ideas, practice, time and work strategies in the production of a well realised body of work, reflecting the complexity of the major project and engaging effectively with academic support and resources.
I have worked very consistently throughout this project, working from daily aims and 'to do lists' to ensure I stay on track and be prepared for tutorials to make sure I gain the most from my feedback. More on this can be seen in a previous Tumblr post where I go into more depth about this. If I were to do this project again, I probably would've scheduled time specifically based on each task as i feel I didn't have enough time for my portfolio as I would've wanted.
LO4-
Demonstrate an ability to critically reflect on the process of your major project documenting its relation to both personal and wider professional contexts, practices and debates.
this task asks you to show your skill in thoughtfully analyzing the process of your major project. You should document how it relates to both your personal experiences and the broader professional context, practices, and debates in the field.
I have been critically reflecting on my work throughout through the use of feedback from tutors, speaking to my peers and also just by my own judgement based on my research. I have made sure I kept up to date with my Tumblr which meant I could reflect on my process and work out what was the best next step for me to take.

Sneaker Accessories and Collaboration
Sneaker accessories are a hit or miss. They can be done so well that they become the newest trend or flop and never experience commercial success. Some companies accessorize their product before purchase, making the accessory an official part of the sneaker. Some consumers would rather purchase the shoe and accessorize it themselves.
The accessories I like the most are the crochet flowers company Ilyang Ilyang makes for Salomon sneakers. Ilang Ilang is an Instagram-based company hailing from the Philippines, their crotched flowers are placed on top of the shoe laces. Salomon in the past three years has made their mark in the trendy sneaker community.
Consumers who usually stick with the popular brands are branching out and realizing there is more to fashion than what is being advertised. Salomon has been a staple brand within the hiking world and has made their way into the gorp-core aesthetic. Not everyone believes Salomon can have the same success as Nike, Adidas, or New Balance, but in an era where brands are re-releasing the same shoes with different colors, can we expect the popular brands to sustain the emergence of fresh competition?
I think Salomon has a chance to be a brand that transcends trends and continues to experience commercial success, as long as they make smart decisions with design and collaboration. Brands such as New Balance had a brand reawakening when they decided they no longer wanted to be the company synonymous with suburban dads and collaborated with brands such as Aime Leon Dore and jjjjound, making some of the most sought-after sneaker releases in recent times. Salomon can follow New Balance's footsteps and make shoes consumers are excited about.

Moral Dilemma - The Foreign Sweatshops I think this issue presents a moral dilemma for all of us. Why? Because if we are honest with ourselves, we all use products on a daily basis which are mass-produced in foreign countries, in factories which are often described as being "sweatshops". From many brands of clothes, to a plethora of plastic products, to a wide range of electronic equipment, and so much more, our lives are virtually surrounded by so-called "sweatshop" products, where living and working conditions are often said to be very poor, and where labor is extremely cheap. One good example is Taiwan's Foxconn, which has a huge factory in China which employs hundreds of thousands of people. People have been known to commit suicide in this place, due to the great amount of pressure that is on them to meet production deadlines. Of course, as deplorable as the sweatshop situation is, it serves to increase the profit margin of the powerful companies which set up shop in these foreign lands, which is why they go to those nations in the first place. From Apple, to Microsoft, to Amazon, to Hewlett Packard, to IBM, to Nike and so many more, they've all got their hands in the foreign pot. They are getting super rich at the expense of the poor. So what are we regular folks supposed to do? Should we feel guilty every day because we use these products? Should we simply go naked? Should we stop using all plastic products? Should we trash all of our expensive electronic equipment? Let's be honest. None of us are prepared to do any of those things in order to demonstrate our moral superiority, and to rid ourselves of the guilt. Let's face it. We are all way too comfortable with our modern lifestyle to give up any of it, even if it means foreign laborers working under dismal conditions for a pittance of a wage. Honestly speaking, I don't think that there is a solution to this modern dilemma. At least not in this present world. Yes, we can make more of an effort to purchase more expensive domestic products; but even that won't be enough to shut down all of the foreign sweatshops. The simple truth of the matter is that money is the god of this world; and large international corporations will do whatever is needed to earn more of it, including relying upon cheap labor in the foreign sweatshops. "To hell with morals" seems to be their code. Of course, this problem with the rich oppressing the poor is nothing new. It has been going on for millennia. In fact, in the Gospels, Jesus said that we will always have the poor with us. Furthermore, King Solomon mentions the oppression of the poor by the rich in the Proverbs. There are a number of other Scriptures which expose this millennia-old problem as well. Consider the following verses: "For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always." Matthew 26:11, KJV "For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always." Mark 14:7, KJV "For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always." John 12:8, KJV "‭The rich‭ ruleth‭‭ over the poor‭‭, and the borrower‭‭ ‭is‭ servant‭ to the lender‭‭‭." Proverbs 22:7, KJV "Yea, ye overwhelm the fatherless, and ye dig a pit for your friend." Job 6:27, KJV "Thou hast sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken." Job 22:9, KJV "Why, seeing times are not hidden from the Almighty, do they that know him not see his days? Some remove the landmarks; they violently take away flocks, and feed thereof. They drive away the ass of the fatherless, they take the widow's ox for a pledge. They turn the needy out of the way: the poor of the earth hide themselves together. Behold, as wild asses in the desert, go they forth to their work; rising betimes for a prey: the wilderness yieldeth food for them and for their children. They reap every one his corn in the field: and they gather the vintage of the wicked. They cause the naked to lodge without clothing, that they have no covering in the cold.
They are wet with the showers of the mountains, and embrace the rock for want of a shelter. They pluck the fatherless from the breast, and take a pledge of the poor. They cause him to go naked without clothing, and they take away the sheaf from the hungry; Which make oil within their walls, and tread their winepresses, and suffer thirst. Men groan from out of the city, and the soul of the wounded crieth out: yet God layeth not folly to them. They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof. The murderer rising with the light killeth the poor and needy, and in the night is as a thief. The eye also of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, saying, No eye shall see me: and disguiseth his face. In the dark they dig through houses, which they had marked for themselves in the daytime: they know not the light. For the morning is to them even as the shadow of death: if one know them, they are in the terrors of the shadow of death. He is swift as the waters; their portion is cursed in the earth: he beholdeth not the way of the vineyards. Drought and heat consume the snow waters: so doth the grave those which have sinned. The womb shall forget him; the worm shall feed sweetly on him; he shall be no more remembered; and wickedness shall be broken as a tree. He evil entreateth the barren that beareth not: and doeth not good to the widow. He draweth also the mighty with his power: he riseth up, and no man is sure of life. Though it be given him to be in safety, whereon he resteth; yet his eyes are upon their ways. They are exalted for a little while, but are gone and brought low; they are taken out of the way as all other, and cut off as the tops of the ears of corn. And if it be not so now, who will make me a liar, and make my speech nothing worth?" Job 24:1-25, KJV "Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up thine hand: forget not the humble. Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it. Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: the poor committeth himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless. Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till thou find none. The LORD is King for ever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land. LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear: To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress." Psalm 10:12-18, KJV "LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph? How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves? They break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict thine heritage. They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless. Yet they say, The LORD shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it." Psalm 94:3-7, KJV "How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers. Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water: Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them." Isaiah 1:21-23, KJV "Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed; To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless! And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from far? to whom will ye flee for help? and where will ye leave your glory?" Isaiah 10:1-3, KJV "For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men. As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich.
They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge. Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?" Jeremiah 5:26-29, KJV "Behold, the princes of Israel, every one were in thee to their power to shed blood. In thee have they set light by father and mother: in the midst of thee have they dealt by oppression with the stranger: in thee have they vexed the fatherless and the widow . . . In thee have they taken gifts to shed blood; thou hast taken usury and increase, and thou hast greedily gained of thy neighbours by extortion, and hast forgotten me, saith the Lord GOD. Behold, therefore I have smitten mine hand at thy dishonest gain which thou hast made, and at thy blood which hath been in the midst of thee." Ezekiel 22:6-7, 12-13, KJV "Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD unto the shepherds; Woe be to the shepherds of Israel that do feed themselves! should not the shepherds feed the flocks? Ye eat the fat, and ye clothe you with the wool, ye kill them that are fed: but ye feed not the flock. The diseased have ye not strengthened, neither have ye healed that which was sick, neither have ye bound up that which was broken, neither have ye brought again that which was driven away, neither have ye sought that which was lost; but with force and with cruelty have ye ruled them. And they were scattered, because there is no shepherd: and they became meat to all the beasts of the field, when they were scattered. My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and upon every high hill: yea, my flock was scattered upon all the face of the earth, and none did search or seek after them. Therefore, ye shepherds, hear the word of the LORD; As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became meat to every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, neither did my shepherds search for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock; Therefore, O ye shepherds, hear the word of the LORD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against the shepherds; and I will require my flock at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the flock; neither shall the shepherds feed themselves any more; for I will deliver my flock from their mouth, that they may not be meat for them." Ezekiel 34:2-10, KJV "And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts." Malachi 3:5, KJV "Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers . . . Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for YE DEVOUR WIDOWS' HOUSES, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation." Matthew 23:1-4, 14, KJV "And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces, And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts: WHICH DEVOUR WIDOWS' HOUSES, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation." Mark 12:38-40, KJV "And he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers." Luke 11:46, KJV
"Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts; WHICH DEVOUR WIDOWS' HOUSES, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation. And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had." Luke 20:46-21:4, KJV "Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called? If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:" James 2:5-8, KJV You may also be interested in reading the following articles which are found on the Bill's Bible Basics website: Article: "What About the Poor?": http://www.billkochman.com/Articles/What-About-the-Poor-1.html Article: "Have You Sold Your Soul for a Pound of Flesh?": http://www.billkochman.com/Articles/soldsoul.html Article: "Going Down the Highway of Life": http://www.billkochman.com/Articles/highway1.html Article: "Abundant Life Doctrine: Scripturally Exposed!": http://www.billkochman.com/Articles/AbundantLifeDoctrineExpos1.html Article: "Money-Making Bible Hucksters and Mammon": http://www.billkochman.com/Articles/huckstr1.html https://www.billkochman.com/Blog/index.php/moral-dilemma-the-foreign-sweatshops/?feed_id=74777&_unique_id=650a3ad8a7b63&Moral%20Dilemma%20-%20The%20Foreign%20Sweatshops

Power of a brand: B&D
Tumblr media
I found this week's case surprising - I went to college in Baltimore and Black&Decker (B&D) is a highly revered employer and brand throughout the area. I had no idea that they faced this kind of brand pushback more broadly with Tradesmen.
It was interesting that despite having a slightly lower brand awareness level than B&D, Makita seems to be outperforming them based on customer perception. Professional-Tradesmen buyers believe Makita is one of the brands with the highest quality, and that B&D is more of a lower quality/home use product. I was surprised that the legitimacy B&D established for itself in Consumer doesn't roll over as positive sentiment. One example that I was thinking about was Nike. It has products that are used by professional athletes all over the world, but also has an incredibly successful regular consumer business. Their segments reinforce each other in some sense. B&D is seeing a total departure, where Tradesmen are viewing them as a consumer brand first, professional grade brand second.  As a result, they are overwhelming purchasing from Makita.
From my understanding, the difference in Black and Decker's shares between Industrial and Tradesmen is driven by who is purchasing the equipment. Industrial customers are B2B accounts. They likely have dedicated B&D salespeople to answer question and the set the tone for the brand story. On the other hand, Tradesmen are a B2C channel. B&D can only reach them through typical commercial advertising, or specific tradesmen channels like conventions. I also imagine that these same buyers are also exposed to the advertising for the Consumer line of products, which can then lower their impression of the durability / legitimacy of the Tradesmen line of products. It's an interesting overlap of consumer segments. It would be hard for B&D to prevent Tradesmen from seeing Consumer targeted marketing, so it seems like they need to do some education to demonstrate to Tradesmen that they can indeed offer high quality products to both segments. In reference to the comic above, I'm sure that there are B&D products that are only meant for true professionals, not the average home user - an education campaign could help B&D make that clearer.

chapter 3 reflection
What surprised you most about the concepts in this chapter?  Why? What would you like to do more research on? Where would you look first for more information?
what surprised me about this chapter is how we depend on other countries so much. Like it's an everyday thing that happens all around us but you just don't pay attention to it.
Can we think about trade with China and trade with Wyoming in the same way? In what ways are they different? The same?
It would not be the same because China has a different economy than the economy is in Wyoming. there would be a difference in price and the gain and cost would vary because of the different economy and because one might have a better absolute advantage.
Give an example of a recent purchase you made that was primarily produced overseas.  Was there a locally produced option? Why didn't you buy the locally produced option? (And how did you define local? :^))
I recently bought a pair of Nike slides. Nike products are largely produced outside the U.S like India, China, Indonesia. But they do have 35 factories inside the United states. What I define local is that is made around the area that I live in or at least close to where I live. I did not find any factories by Nike in CO.

Monday After the 70th PGA Show
By ED TRAVIS
It began in 1954 with a few sales reps displaying products from car trunks in a Dunedin, Fla parking lot and just as our game undergone tremendous changes so has the PGA Show in the intervening years.
The big question for the 70th edition held Jan. 24-27 was if the Show would recover from the pandemic induced cancellation in 2021 when a “virtual Show” was held that met with no one’s satisfaction followed by 2022 when returning to the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. the number of exhibitors was down 40%, attendance was less than half of a “normal year” and most of the industry’s major companies did not exhibit.
Would companies again see the value of spending in some cases multiple millions of dollars to reach current and potential customers or would the computer age with a covid inspired hangover take another victim as it has with other trade shows?
Well, the question was answered this year and most assuredly in the positive.
A less enthusiastic opinion was voiced by some long-time attendees saying that with the number of golf rounds flourishing and record numbers of people taking up the game the Show, sans Covid-induced restrictions, is as always simply a reflection of the state of the industry.
We agree but there is no question the mood of the attendees was upbeat and looking forward to 2023 season. Many were of the opinion this could be a record year.
Show attendance figures at this writing are not available but several media members felt the count while not at the pre-pandemic level of around 40,000 PGA Professionals and industry members, was about 30,000 with one longtime observer venturing it was even higher. Demo Day at the Orange County National driving range was very well attended with 56 club and gear companies giving PGA Professionals time to try out their latest and greatest.
On the almost 1 million square foot Show floor over 800 vendors (808 according to the list I saw) set up exhibits and displays while 19 vendors offered additional opportunities for test driving new clubs on the indoor driving range. Callaway was by far the largest exhibitor with space for showing off Callaway clubs and balls, Callaway apparel and their own eight bay driving range for Toptracer Range.
The number of new exhibitors, which is always a good measure of the Show’s importance and relevancy in the industry, hit 267 more than 25% of the total. This would seem to be a sign that both soft and hard goods can look ahead to continued positive circumstances.
Apparel companies expect to write orders placed by club professionals and shop operators during three days of exhibiting as do many accessory makers. Club and ball companies see almost no order writing but use the Show to familiarize current and potential customers with their new product lines since all rely on computer order placement prior to the season. However, two of the largest soft goods companies Nike and Adidas were not at the Show.
In addition to viewing and potentially purchasing the latest the industry has to offer PGA Professionals can gain continuing education credits by going to the Show and taking professional courses. These are the men and women who along with members of the Golf Course Superintendents Association make golf possible every day and the Show is an annual focus for them.
Major equipment company no shows, a couple somewhat surprising, continued with PXG, who has never exhibited and TaylorMade Golf, who has not had booth space since 2018. One that was previously a stalwart on the floor Tour Edge Golf opted out this year though top executives were in Orlando and seen at the Show. Wilson Golf also chose to not have booth space.
There also was a rumor making the rounds that the Show will move to the Dallas, Texas area where the PGA of America’s new corporate headquarters was built in suburban Frisco. Already the fall PGA Buying & Education Summit formerly held in Las Vegas has moved there. However, the PGA points out the amount of display floor space for a full PGA Show, hotel rooms, restaurants and other amenities are not presently available. Don’t you love rumors?
In summary the four days in the Florida sun were a success especially compared to the last two years for the PGA Show or as they like to call it, “The Major of the Golf Industry.” Obviously, there is room for growth such as increasing the exhibitor count and attracting more industry professionals to attend but the 2023 edition was a great step to recovery.

Week 4 Blog Post 2: Reading Assignment
After reading, "Three reasons junk news spreads so quickly across social media," I can relate to each level of using algorithms, advertising, and exposure across social media platforms and other websites. Algorithms create this social atmosphere where company's and people can create news for people by looking into what they have interest in. Businesses can see that if you like sports content, it'll display sports content to your interests and, if applicable, relate sports content back to its business in one way or another. Additionally, algorithms create filters in a sense that makes searching easier and more directed to what you need to find information out on. Advertising offers companies the ability to craft and deliver micro-targeted messages to certain populations. As the article states, "Social media accounts are free to use but an individual pays with their personal information." These ads crate clickbait which makes it easy and rewarding to click on these targeted ads to give the company site what it wants you to do and/or buy. Especially around political debates and elections, I see plenty of advertisements that is directed towards voting one way over the other. In sports, advertisements create a "big blowup picture" of Nike running shoes or athletic apparel when I'm on google without even having the intent to buy or look at that in the time being. This is an example of company's trying to constantly remind consumers to buy or even just visit the company page. Furthermore, exposure creates an atmosphere where the consumer already has displayed interest in a particular product or subscription with a business. For example, following Nike on twitter and submitting your email to them basically enables them to send you news, offers, and more. Signing up for credit cards with personal information makes you want to be more loyal to that company and rewards you for purchases. If internet history shows that a person is democrat or republican, then company sites will display content for the user that strengthens their stance on that topic. There are many ways companies create exposure to their consumers. What people and other businesses need to be aware of is to mitigate bias or eliminate it completely from their search results by not clicking on any uninformative ads and sticking to your plan on what you are looking for on social media/company sites. You can block pop-ups and other ads through search settings. A person can sign out of their gmail account before browsing. Lastly, a person can not subscribe for news, offers, cookies, and other social media content used for marketing purposes.
