ok so i use opera on mobile, i have force dark mode on and i have a question — whenever my pfp is shrunken to be an element (ex. for being next to a comment i post), why does it also invert? i get that it does this for black images to make sure that website logos arent invisible & shit, but why does it happen to my pfps too? it genuinely throws me off so much whenever im commenting something on rym or annotating my songs on genius & my avatar is suddenly purely white.

february 19th

happy wednesday!

today i had work so i didn't do much at home but yesterday i was off and just did things like laundry and clean my bathroom!

i just wanted to talk about something that happened to me today and truly analyze it!

this girl i work with (who, i will admit now, i do not like at all solely because she always gives me a hard time just cause) called me 'white washed' to another coworker. and honestly, when i first heard that she said that, i laughed it off! i've been called 'white-washed' and 'oreo' since i was a little girl in elementary school, so i just found it funny that even years later, that still hasn't changed.

i just started thinking about it a little deeper. as she was a black girl, and i am a black girl. and it makes me realize: what makes me "not black?"

i agree that i am a weird person, legit i have been a weird girl since i was young, and that's kinda always how i've been. my parents didn't raise me around negative influences and as i started to branch out as my own person, i always gravitated towards the groups of kids everyone made fun of. truly, those were the only people who understood me and made me feel comfortable.

so what of my personality makes me white-washed? what features do i exhibit that take away my blackness? when do i qualify as being white-washed?

i think this just has to do of what people view as "stereotypically black", things like listening to mainly rap/rnb music, speaking and talking dramatically and loudly, wearing ripped skinny jeans and sneakers, wearing braids, so on and so forth. i don't think i'm better than any other black person because i don't do these things, i'm simply comfortable just being different and not adhering to what other people want me to be. it makes me wonder maybe she's just jealous, i am cringe and weird but i am free!
