I hate to break it to Republicans but at this point most of the so called "DEI hires" in workplaces are white men who don't have the skills, certificates, degrees, and/or experience for the job and only got their positions because a friend of a friend got them hired. Like women, non-white people, queer people, disabled people, and many others all know they'd be first on the chopping block at their job which is why they are usually the ones most qualified, and even overqualified, in their workplace. They're the ones with the degrees, years of experience, tons of skills, and who meet or exceed expectations at their job. They're the ones who work their asses off and keep the place running. And when it comes to cutting people, managers and administrators only care about who can keep the lights on and the numbers high. So Bradley, who only got the job because a family member convinced the manager to hire him even though he was not qualified at all, and he's doing the bare minimum every month, and he sucks to work with, is getting cut first. Simple as that.

Write down study notes about the evolution of MS-DOS, QuickBASIC (from IBM Cassette BASIC to the last officially Microsoft QBasic or some early Visual Basic), "Batch" Command-Prompt, PowerShell, Windows editions pathing from "2.11 for 386" to Windows "ME" (upgraded from a "98 SE" build though) with Windows "3.11 for Workgroups" and the other 9X ones in-between, Xenix, Microsoft Bob with Great Greetings expansion, a personalized mockup Win8 TUI animated flex box panel board and other historical (or relatively historical, with a few ground-realism & critical takes along the way) Microsoft matters here and a couple development demos + big tech opinions about Microsoft too along that studious pathway.

Okay so my friend and I were talking about this

As someone who doesn’t really know much about how all of this works

Would it be possible for the WGA to lobby for a “Royalties up front” model?

Where a show’s popularity is evaluated by a third party (or something) based off of the hype it gets online or the views of an initial episode or something and averaged out to what the projected royalties would be for 5 years

And then in order to air the show, Disney/whatever mogul who wants to air the show, has to pay the royalties up front

Basically guaranteeing that the show will run for 5 years in order for Disney to recoup?

Like what you do with commissions and basically anything else that is essentially contract work, given that that’s how the writers are treated, as opposed to being salaried workers like they should be.

I know currently it’s like “everything you make at Disney, Disney has proprietary rights to” but that’s not really a great idea as it leads to this shit.

I haven’t had the spoons enough to keep super up to date with the Writers Strike despite supporting it fully

But yea, I mean if Disney wants to make money off the work of others’ they shouldn’t be allowed to cash in on that money early and essentially fuck over the viewers in the sake of their next hit

Like if I were to commission someone to draw art for me and tell them that I’m using it to make money from, they’d most likely want a percentage of the projected royalties up front, and that’s fair in my opinion.

I pointed this out in a Discord server I'm in and thought Id share here:

Bob Iger announced that Disney is going to absorb Hulu, and Hulu will no longer exist next year. All shows will move to the Disney+ app.

Disney also announced they were going to remove shows and movies periodically from their streaming services.

I believe both of these moves are because of the Writers Strike.

Disney knows its going to lose the strike. There is too much public support. Specifically, the WGA is going to win writers getting more residuals from streaming.

So if Disney takes shows off of streaming, they dont have to pay the writers the residuals.

They are going to use excuses like "not enough funding for the server capacity" or "not enough views to warrent keeping the show". These are BULLSHIT. Its all greed. Its only GREED.

Pay attention to what happens in the following weeks.

And keep supporting the writers' strike.

Not to mention that dogs rescued from puppy mills are generally going to be difficult cases. These are dogs that have been mistreated and traumatized for their entire lives and being forced to have litter after litter until they physically can't anymore. They are significantly more likely to have behavioral issues or exhibit undesirable behaviors because of their trauma and lack of socialization. These dogs are not appealing to private shelters because of this. Kill shelters give them the best possible chance of recovery and finding a happy home, and even if they can't find that, they are humanely put down instead of being left to fend for themselves until they die

I think this is super important to remember.
