Two of the iconic Fire Emblem GBA heroines dressed as military operators from various First-Person-Shooter games. However, they bear the No-Pat emblem from Battlefield 2042. Lyndis (CALLSIGN: ZIMO) is seen wearing the Echelon Faction's Malee's outfit from XDEFIANT and carrying her own Barrett XM-109 Sniper Rifle. Eirika (CALLSIGN: GATOR) is seen wearing Urban Tracker's outfit from Call of Duty Mobile and carrying her own Sieglinde sword (based on its appearance from Fire Emblem Engage) and TAK-5 from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Lyndis bears an American flag on her chest, while Eirika also bears the Australian flag on her chest. Hope you like them!

I’ve been playing the XDefiant closed beta. And I have to say that if the netcode is fixed when the game is officially released...I think Call of Duty is finally going to have some real competition.

Calling all shooter enthusiasts! The wait for Ubisoft's highly anticipated title, XDefiant, might be nearing its end. According to executive producer Mark Rubin, a release date announcement is imminent, following a successful closed beta testing period. This news has ignited excitement among gamers, particularly those who see XDefiant as a potential "Call of Duty killer." XDefiant Heats A Stress Test and a Step Forward: Insights from Closed Beta Testing From April 19th to 21st, 2024, Ubisoft San Francisco conducted a closed beta test for XDefiant. This crucial testing phase served several purposes: Gauging Server Stability: The primary focus was to evaluate the game's server infrastructure under load. The test allowed the developers to assess the game's ability to handle a large number of players simultaneously and identify any potential bottlenecks. Evaluating Player Feedback: The closed beta provided a valuable opportunity for players to experience XDefiant firsthand and offer their feedback. This feedback is essential for the developers to refine the game mechanics, address balance issues, and ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for the broader player base. Identifying Areas for Improvement: The closed beta wasn't without its hiccups. Rubin acknowledged issues like Delta-01 errors, delayed health bar updates, and suboptimal matchmaking. By proactively identifying these issues, Ubisoft San Francisco can prioritize bug fixes and adjustments before launch. Building a Better Shooter: Refining XDefiant for Release Rubin compared the transition from the old netcode to the new one used in XDefiant to "replacing an old car, it needs tweaking." This analogy highlights the importance of closed beta testing. The valuable data and feedback received allow the developers to: Optimize Performance: By analyzing server performance during the beta, the developers can identify areas for optimization, ensuring a smooth and lag-free experience for players. Refine Game Mechanics: Player feedback regarding balance, weapon handling, and gameplay flow provides crucial insights for the developers to refine the game mechanics and ensure a more engaging experience. Improve Matchmaking: Identifying issues with matchmaking during the beta allows the developers to fine-tune the matchmaking algorithms to create a more balanced and enjoyable experience for players of all skill levels. A Potential "Call of Duty Killer"? Understanding the Hype XDefiant has generated significant interest among shooter fans, with some even labeling it a potential "Call of Duty killer." This moniker stems from several factors: Free-to-Play Model: XDefiant adopts a free-to-play model, potentially offering a more accessible alternative to premium-priced titles like Call of Duty. Fast-Paced Arena Shooter Focus: XDefiant offers a fast-paced and action-oriented experience, potentially appealing to players who favor the frenetic pace of arena shooters. Unique Factions and Customization: XDefiant boasts a varied selection of factions with distinct abilities and customization options, potentially offering a fresh take on the class-based shooter genre. However, it's important to remember that XDefiant is still in development, and ultimately, its success will depend on execution and player reception. FAQs Q: When can we expect a release date announcement for XDefiant? A: Based on Mark Rubin's statement, a release date announcement for XDefiant is expected to be imminent, likely following further internal testing and refinement based on closed beta feedback. Q: What platforms will XDefiant be available on? A: Ubisoft has confirmed XDefiant for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5, making it a cross-platform title. Q: Will XDefiant be a true "Call of Duty killer"? A: Whether XDefiant dethrones Call of Duty remains to be seen. Both games cater to the shooter genre, but offer unique experiences. XDefiant's free-to-play model and focus on customization might appeal to a different audience segment. Q: What can we expect from the future of XDefiant? A: Ubisoft San Francisco is committed to continual improvement. Based on player feedback and post-launch data, the developers might introduce additional content, balance updates, and new features to keep XDefiant fresh and engaging.

There's been another XDefiant playtest this weekend, so I played this upcoming free to play shooter by Ubisoft once more. But what happened? The game is suffering from bad hit registration, desync and server issues! Problems that many thought would have been fixed by now. Let's talk about the current state of XDefiant, and what it means when it comes a release that are close at hand!
