Don’t know why it’s stuck in my head, but I keep thinking of a modern fengqing romcom where they have a boopening war on tumblr and it spills over into real life when they start randomly booping each other around their apartment after the boop-o-meter is gone and Xie Lian watches on in fond exasperation.

it kills me how mu qing had to rely on xie lian for things he needed to live, and yet had too much to worry for (unlike feng xin) that he never ended up trusting xie lian but needing him and that just. ended terribly

just have been here imagining a tgcf band au...

in my mind the main point would be the rock band "ghost city", with hua cheng as its lead singer, composer and guitarist; he xuan as bassist; and yin yu as manager and drummer. of course it was hua cheng's idea to start it and the other two were dragged by him. btw, yin yu might be overworked as usual, handling the bureaucratic and financial situations that involve the band, while he xuan also works as an actor (from where he knows shi qingxuan), but he lost a bet to hua cheng and now have to play with them.

on the other hand we have xie lian. he also used to be part of the music industry, maybe playing classical instruments in the same group as mu qing and feng xin. but after a lot of things went down, they’ve decided to quit it and follow their own paths, maintaining little contact. I can imagine him working in a flower shop now, but still enjoying music very passionately, looking for new bands and stuff, which leads him to being a fan of the upcoming success group, “ghost city”. he's also a longtime friend with shi qingxuan, who's an actress. one day she invites him to go to a show of that band he likes, because her work-colleague, who happens to be a member of it, gave her two tickets, and xie lian gladly accepts.

now thinking about the connection between xie lian and hua cheng. in his best days as a musician, xie lian could have founded a project to bring musical education to children and teenagers in need. that’s how he met hua cheng, a shy teenager wearing an eyepatch, who was very interested in his lessons and showed great potential, gaining his teacher's affection. 

xie lian had many students, as well as volunteers helping with the project, so it would be hard for him to recognise someone after all these years, especially when the person in question has changed so much. however, hua cheng never forgot the man who got him into music, gave him his first guitar and has been his inspiration since then. so it's a big surprise to him when,  after a show, xie lian and shi qingxuan meet the band in the back stages due to he xuan’s invitation.

xie lian also gets very surprised when the enchanting leader of the band shows to recognize him from his years as a classical musician, something that hasn't happened in quite a while, demonstrating also great knowledge about music in general. he doesn’t say anything about their past, but they get along well together since the beginning, to a point in which hua cheng insists that xie lian should open an exception for them and help them produce their next album. although being honored by the idea, the former musician asks for some time to think about it, they exchange numbers and decide to keep in touch no matter the decision. anyway, after some reluctance due to past traumas, shi qingxuan excitedly encourages him, and he decides to accept the offer. so he starts working with them almost daily, while keeping working in the flower shop half shift.

(another detail i think might be funny is that qi rong also auditioned to be part of “ghost city” at some point, but was rejected. since then, he has been working as a metal singer, and he consideres himself a rival to the band, although they never really cared about his attacks - and his music isn't even that good.)

Thinking about how Qi Rong was beaten bloody, hung upside down for hours, is in a lot of pain, but - just because Xie Lian told him to - managed to run dozens of miles to the capital and then the palace to deliver the message that Xie Lian needs help. He then shouts and screams until both Mu Qing and Feng Xin (two guys he doesn't like AT ALL and dislike actually working together) go to help his cousin. And this is just ignored by the entire cast because "that's normal, anyone would do that". Except it's not normal, not everyone could do that. Qi Rong is a pampered prince who doesn't like to train. He definitely used up everything he had and more to achieve this feat!

Xian Le Trio

I just want to read fics about Xian le trio as kids.

I want to read about Xie Lian and Feng Xin's first meeting, about a tiny Fengxin being trained since young to be a companion worthy enough to escort his highness. Just imagining the first meeting between two would be like FX's mentor/father (whoever trained him), taking FX to the palace for the first time and showing him from a distance the person he is supposed to oath his life to. His Highness the Crown Prince a happy bubbly child dressed in fine silk chasing butterflies and feeding the birds,his peals of laughter echoing the entire garden. FX 's eyes brightens and he has a new determination to protect that smile at any cost. After the Banquet ends FX and his mentor are formally introduced to the King and tiny XL is peeking from beside his mother with big ,warm and curious eyes.

The King gives his approval for FX and when FX and XL are introduced; XL happily declares to a young FX that he will wait for him to join his side. FX bows with confidence and a determined spark can be seen reflected in his eyes and then they meet again when both of them are 14 years old!!

And then XL whines for who gave permission to FX to become taller then him!! (And then later on after meeting Mu Qing and when the growth spurts for both FX and MQ and only poor XL is left with his two friends towering him ,it takes 2 straight days for the two of them to coax and convince XL.)

I cannot seem to picturise a scene for Mu Qing as of now ,but I would love to see that in a fic too!!

And then once the Trio is complete I want to see their shenanigans! With XL leading the other two upto no good,always coming up with new ways of mischief.The whole palace knows that if these three are spotted together then surely something is bound to happen. XL giving his parents and his Guoshi grey hairs every now and then and now with the backing up of two trusted companions XL is aiming for something higher and bigger.

What sorts of tricks a crown prince and his companions can play, everyone can give their opinion and headcanons. It would be fun to read!

If someone has fics like these please do recommend me! I will be really grateful. I haven't read much of TGCF Fanfics so I don't know if there are any that focuses on Xian le Trio as kids and their shenanigans.

I crave some content with the Xian Le Trio being friends again and Feng Xing and Mu Qing often visiting Xie Lian at the Puqi Shrine where he lives now with Hua Cheng who he married.

There they would spend the day together, talking about random stuff, catching up on things and just have fun together again, a bit like back when they were 16.

Modern AU where the Xian Le trio had their falling out years ago, but now Feng Xin, and Mu Qing work for the same company, and keep getting put on projects together because their boss is an ass.

They have no idea where Xie Lian is, and avoid talking about him because it always ends up in a terrible fight. Then one day Feng Xin is talking to another coworker, Shi Qingxuan, during a break, and notices a picture posted on "Big Social Media Thing tm." and just about dies because there is Xie Lian, with some dude in red standing in front of an old van.

Shi Qingxuan notices where he's looking, but doesn't really pay attention to his actual demeanor, and explains the pair are husbands who have been traveling the world in that van for years, and documenting it. Shi Qingxuan doesn't know them personally, but has been following them since shortly after they started their journey,(which was originally supposed to be a short road trip.) and thinks they are absolutely the cutest.

Feng Xin shows Mu Qing, and he freaks out because he immediately recognizes the guy in red as the creepy kid who used to follow Xie Lian around all the time.

i need more ace mu qing, and qpr mq xl and more fengxin who bicker as a way of showing they care bc theyve been fighting for so long it feels odd not to but now it’s less mean more caring, and more xian le trio being happy together, and more of them figuring out how to be friends without feeling like their status is an issue or like they owe anything to each other

hualian is so special to me because the way hua cheng treats xie lian is just so, so precious

for so much of the series, it saddened me to see how much xie lian is burdened with... everything. it is always his job to figure something out, his job to fix it, his job to fight it.

and he just... doesn't mind it at all. in fact, he loves helping and saving people. he legitimately has the mindset of "why should other people be in pain when i can fix it?" which is so noble and admirable, and he does so much with a smile on his face

but it's this mindset that nearly breaks him beyond repair.

during the fall of xian le, he tried everything in his power to stop the events from escalating. even things that weren't even within his power, like carrying rain and trying to help those who were starving was something he took on. trying to help xian le and help the people of yong'an.

even to some degree, mu qing and feng xin were depending on him to figure things out. and i mean, why wouldn't they? he's always figured things out, he's always been smart, always had solutions. always had that "third thing."

until he didn't.

i don't think mu qing nor feng xin were wrong for leaving, because each had their priorities and there was tons of miscommunication between the xianle trio. but it saddened me to see that very few people cared about xie lian for... xie lian.*(see bottom for more on this)

not because he's the crown prince, or because he's a martial god, or because he's beautiful or whatever. but because of him.

in the beginning i never understood why young hua cheng / hong'er kept throwing himself in front of xie lian on the battle field, or why he insisted on never leaving xie lian's side by any means. like dawg, you're a HUMAN. and xie lian is a GOD. but i get it now, honestly.

no one's ever tried to take care of xie lian that way.

he's always the one who jumps in to be hit, to get poisoned, to be the first one to attack. and i mean, he IS (one of) the strongest martial gods for a reason!! but... gods get tired to.

hua cheng's existence in xie lian's life is so important to me because so much of his mindset is "his highness can handle this, but why should he?" he has absolute faith that xie lian can handle anything he wants and offers encouragement consistently but... he also wants xie lian to know that he doesn't have to dive head first anymore.

he doesn't have to be the one taking the hit or at the forefront of the part all the time. there are no "jokes" when it comes to xie lian's health and safety. it doesn't matter how much he's been poisoned, or hurt, or stabbed, or punched.

the scene where xie lian picks up a skull with corpse poison is very important to me because it's the first time xie lian is told "please don't hurt yourself intentionally for us. you can't die, but you can still be hurt and that hurts me. please think about me, and yourself." and it, for the first time, makes him hesitate and contemplate his own safety.

something he never had to consider because no one else did.

*this isn't me saying that fx and mq didn't care for xl for who he is. i do whole heartedly believe the mu qing and feng xin feelings are different. while i believe they do love him (as friends or lovers take your PICK), but their situation was entirely different and harder for it to be showed. with mu qing's inner turmoil over his various issues and feng xin being so loyal he didn't come back when xie lian ordered him to leave muddled things. unfortunately though, i do believe someone has to be strong enough to save xl from himself
