He still remembers the scent of his mother. sometimes, when he misses her, he puts his face in a piece of her old clothes and takes a deep breath as if he really feels her presence. the smell of wet soil, flowers, foods. her scent is sad just like her smile and her eyes. but it calms him down. and he also remembers Yeon's scent. like when he was younger and when she saw him in their house, she hugged him tightly, when she had a seizure, and when she wanted to go forward to protect Seon-ho, but he hugged her. then he touches and smells her silk ribbon and misses her even more. she smells like spring flowers. maybe a little like his mother's scent. or this has always been Seon-ho's illusion for remembering her. he remembers that when he was next to Hwi, he always smelled of food and blacksmithing. now Hwi only smells blood and this make Seon-ho sad. Hwi is alive but Seon-ho has to search his scent in past. that's sad and terrible. he still remembers. others think he drinks or goes to the opium den to forget. but when he drinks, when the poppy seed smoke mixes with his breath, he can more easily feel their presence around him. it's as if smells become stronger and he can see and hear things buried in the past. he's pathetic. he knows it himself, but sometimes the longing puts so much pressure on him that he has no other choice. so when he moves his hand, sometimes he feels that something warm and soft touches it other than emptiness. he doesn't know who it's for. Yeon's small hand or his mother's rough hand. he's ready to pay everything for those few seconds. for someone to gently hold him in warm arms and let him sleep forever.

A hilarious comedy thriller drama that unfortunately gets bogged down with unnecessary romance and bad editing. It definitely could have been a 10 episode series and it would’ve been a knock out series. Seo in Guk is phenomenal in this. He had just the right over the top humor and darkness to his character, while I absolutely love Oh Yeon Seo, the writing for her character was awful and didn’t fit right. For the romance I more so rooted for the secondary couple more. I guess I was hoping for more of a best buddy relationship for the main couple. Overall still would recommend to watch once if you love mystery comedies.

Just finished Degree of Love (aka Temperature of Love) starring Seo Hyun Jin, Yang Se Jong, and Kim Jae uck. 40 bite-size episodes of 30 minutes each kept me entertained for several days. The drama was very relatable on many levels, not just in relation to the romantic relationship/s, but also in relation to choosing a career, relationships with one’s parents, and many more. The bromance between Yang Se Jong and Kim Jae uck was a sight to behold. Plenty of meet cute moments between the main protagonists. All in all a very enjoyable drama.

Dr. Romantic: The Way to a Dream Come True

Dr. Romantic is made up of three seasons with a lapse of 4 years between the Season 1 and Season 2 and a 3 years lapse between Season 2 and 3. The first season we are introduced to the regular Doldam Hospital and new arrivals: Kang Dong Joo and Yoon Seo Jung. Master Kim helps these two young doctors and his regular staff to sharpen their skills and find realize their dreams. We see their growth as professionals and as human beings, while healing people and fighting to keep the hospital open. This first season ends with Kang Dong Joo and Yoon Seo Jung heading to new challenges but leaving a hope for their return.

Second season, Master Kim and his regular staff are still healing people while fighting to maintain the hospital running. We are introduced to three new doctors: Cha Eun Jae, Seo Woo Jin, and Yoon Ah Reum. In this case we have doctors returning and a doctor from a capital hospital, Park MinGuk becomes Holdam Hospital director as part of Chairman Do's attempt to take Master Kim down. But at the end we leave the hospital with a secure standing (no one can touch the property) and Dr. Park decides to partner with Master Kim and work together towards making Master Kim's dream come true - have a trauma center in the hospital.

Season 3 seems to be the conclusion to his story. Now they have the trauma center building connected to the old part of the hospital and they are about to open, but they need government funding to help run the center since this is a non-profit hospital. The staff is divided into two areas and those working at the trauma center will need to deal with their new director. Master Kim's Plan B - Dr. Cha Jin Man, who is also Dr. Cha Eun Jae's father and later Plan A - Kang Dong Joo.

I must admit that I was so excited to see Kang Dong Joo back and to see that Yoo Seo Jung returned, along other doctors that were part of the staff in the previous two seasons. It is satisfying to see Master Kim's dream come true: have the trauma center ran by his students.

You would've thought that he would want to run the center - after all, it was his dream - but he decided to stay in the old part of the hospital and have the another person run the trauma center. I loved the love stories and the new young characters. It was a really sweet way to bring this story to an end.

This story is one of my favorites on the doctors-drama category. A most watch, the three of them. I would watch them back to back, that way I would catch on things I probably missed since I saw them when they came out and time has past between each viewing.

I wonder which one is love. Hoping that you're worrying about me like I am for you and wishing that you're pining for me like I do for you. Is this love? Or on the other hand, is it wishing that you won't be worried about me, that you'll forget about me and all the moments we've shared? Is that love? If it's neither, is it love that I'm willing to go through everything from the very beginning just so I can meet you once again?

My (longer than expected) thoughts on episode 10

SPOILERS AHEAD

1. We got to see a bit of how Seo Minyoung is. Also she is starting to fend for herself a bit. Like it or not, it is your right but that is what we have for now.

2. The Kiss. Well it's true the chemistry is not quite there romance wise. I mean it's cute imo but it is not intense which is what we were all hoping it to be i guess, especially if they are going to push it to be there. SJK is all in but SHB is somewhere else and i think she was not quite well directed on this. It was nice that she took the initiative tho.

3. The financial plot. Great. Loved it. Bringing in 9/11. Wow. I did wonder if they would mention it but the way they did it, hats off. There is a world before 9/11 and a world after 9/11. That day changed a whole set of things not only in international relations but also international business. Something else that sunk in: Hyun Woo knew about it, so you think he might have prevented it. No. Do you really think him calling the F*I just mentioning this would not get him in trouble? He realised with his mother that he can't really change anything but he can chose how to live.

4. LEE SUNG MIN. All hail the King of this show. What a master of his craft. His chemistry with SJK is fantastic. The conversation they had about greed and distrust. Will we see Hyun Woo losing sight of his "mission"?

5. Jo Han Chul. Go off my man. Dong Ki having that breakdown clearly shows Yang Cheol's relationship with his kids. It is sad.

6. Song Joong Ki's acting. This man's eyes tell so much. How he goes from a cheeky innocent smile to serious cold business mode in a split second. Just wow. JDJ is a lovable cheeky bastard and SJK knows how to portray that so well.

MOVIE REVIEW | Dream (2023)

In this film about broken dreams and second chances, a professional football player finds himself in a difficult position due to a mix of bad decisions and bad luck. He also has no real support system in his mother (who is on the run for scamming people) and his agency wants him to quit the sport to become a celebrity.

Is in this moment of his life that to rehabilitate his image he is forced to become the coach of a football team conformed by homeless men that will compete on a charity tournament.

Reluctantly, he learns the reasons why these men found themselves living in the streets. Addiction, bad decisions, abandonment, grief, among other motives. What they all have in common is that through this tournament they are looking to become a better version of themselves.

To record every moment of their journey, a documentary director (deep in student debt and stress) needs to find the right angle to have this film be a success for her and them.

It’s through teamwork and sharing their problems, that this team of odd men out find -perhaps for the first time in their lives- a real support system and even a family.

Dream is a solid comedy with really touching moments that brought some tears to my eyes. The film tries to shed some light on current social issues in South Korea through the housing problem these men are going through.

Park Seo Joon gives a good performance going from disheartened to finding a new dream and people to fight for. His chemistry with IU is hilarious to watch as they play entirely platonic teammates throwing jabs at each other, even long after they start to get along.

IU’s character as the documentary director who is forced to believe in herself into success is both fun and oh, so real.

The heart of the film, however, is Heo Joon Seok, whose character never lost hope and fought from beginning to end so the team could achieve their dream. The rest of the actors bring some emotions though the respective stories that makes the comedy more grounded.

Overall, I enjoyed this film.

Let it all go

Seon-ho prepares himself for the worst. Yeon is dead, is there anything worse? how can Hwi survive without Yeon? in all these years, Seon-ho has learned from life that for surviving, trying to fight is a stronger motivation than love. he follows Hui-jae while his mind is incapable of predicting the end of this terrible story. Hwi is there, in pain. this means he's still alive. so Seon-ho, not knowing whether to be happy or sad about it, gently puts his hand on the edge of the wooden bed to keep from falling, then kneels next to him. +your father didn't want to kill him. Seon-ho looks at Hwi's face, once again. to make sure he's really alive. his lips are bruised and parted slightly for breathing. there's an infected wound on his chest. +he poisoned him to die in the worst way. he killed Yeon so that Hwi would die with the pain of losing her. Seon-ho was staring at Hwi as he feels his body bending under a heavy load. unable to say anything. the hard lump that closed his throat doesn't allow him to speak. he can't even cry. this is the result of all his efforts. "what if..." he has repeated this many times in his mind. but time doesn't wait for him. it's mercilessly moving forward and pulling everything inside its. Yeon's smile, Hwi's peace and Seon-ho's heart. he slams his fist on the ground to pain makes him conscious. his hands are shaking like when he couldn't touch Yeon's body. something is preventing him from touching Hwi too, as it was about Yeon. +poison doesn't destroy Hwi. Yeon's death... -enough. please...I beg you...stop it. again though he doesn't want to, he breaks in front of her. Seon-ho doesn't hear another voice behind himself. the only sound of her skirt rustling on the floor and then only Hwi’s painful breathing. -H...Hwi... Hwi's name comes out of his mouth like a word he isn't allowed to say. there's no angry answer. it's only at that moment that his tears start to fall non-stop. -why didn't you trust me? why does no one listen to me in this hell? but Yeon had trusted him. Seon-ho took her out of that hell then she was sent to heaven thanks to his father. he put his exploding head on his arms. why did nothing ever go right? -Yeon is sleeping peacefully. but you have to survive, you have to wake up. Seon-ho knows that Hwi will take revenge. of course, if he can. if there will be a big war, either Hwi will die or Namjeon. and Seon-ho's presence in the meantime won't matter to anyone anyway. he has no strength left to fight. he tried his best to save Hwi and Yeon both and stop his father, but everything had collapsed. when he comes out of the room, Hui-jae is standing there. -can he be treated? +he's strong, you know. now her tone is calmer and free of anger. Seon-ho nods in agreement. +don't you want to stay until he wakes up? -it's better for him if he doesn't see me. seeing him reminds Hwi of what happened. as the son of his sister's murderer... the bastard or official son, it doesn't matter. Namjeon was his father after all. so Seon-ho set out. +if you want to see Yeon... Seon-ho stops but doesn't turn back. Chi-do takes her to a hut near the river. Seon-ho doesn't tell Hui-jae that when she had to go because Hwi had fainted, he was the one who took Yeon in his arms and carried her to that cottage. with strange pain in his whole body. only Chi-do knows this secret. -it doesn't matter how many times I see her. she doesn't see me anymore.
