Bakugou being so in love with you but he won’t ever admit it, my beloved.

Can you imagine Bakugou, who’s been in love with you since the moment he met you, catching you one evening trying to bake cupcakes in the kitchen. And he can see how angry and frustrated you are instantly, even without the evidence of many many failed attempts strewn all over the countertop.

Uneven batter, burnt edges, no rise— each time seems to get worse, even though you’re following the recipe to a T. But it’s late, you’re exhausted, and the only pleasure you have now is eating the leftover cake mix off your wooden spoon as you sit on the counter overlooking the mess you know you’ll have to clean up.

“You’ll get sick eating raw cake batter, dumbass.” Bakugou rolls his eyes as he looks at the mess of burnt cupcake failures strewn across the kitchen, “Why don’t you just buy yourself a cake?”

“Because I wanted to make the cupcakes,” You pout pathetically, dumping the spoon into the sink as you prepare to start the tedious cleanup.

“But you can’t bake for shit.” Bakugou scoffs.

“I know,” You heave a sigh, “But it’s Valentines tomorrow, and I thought—”

You trailed off, not knowing how to explain to Bakugou that the cupcakes were supposed to be for him.

But of course Bakugou doesn’t realise that, however perceptive he thinks he is he can’t see the big, fat crush you’ve had on him for just as long. Trying to ignore the ache in his chest at the thought of you gifting these cupcakes to someone else as he shoulders you out of the way with your dirty bowl, sticking it beneath the warm stream of water as he begins to clean it up.

“You don’t need to do that, Bakugou. I made the mess, I can—”

“Shut up, shitty woman,” He rolls his eyes, trying to mask the pained rasp in his throat, “We’re gonna bake the best fuckin’ cupcakes you’ve ever had.”

And he’s right. The cupcakes that now sit cooling on the counter look perfect, all of them the same shape and consistency as you watch Bakugou hover over them with the piping bag as he swirls the orange mixture onto each one with precision.

He doesn’t say a word when you’re finished, only a gruff grunt as he excuses himself from the kitchen. Cheeks flushed pink from the praise you’d given him, the sweetest words from you.

“Have you got a valentine, Bakugou?”

“Nah, it’s a stupid fuckin’ holiday.” He despised the glow of hurt that flashed through your eyes at that, despised that he was the one to make you feel shitty about trying to do something nice.

When the truth is, he loved that you were trying to bake cupcakes for someone, it showed just how sweet, kind and perfect you really were— he just wished you were baking those stupid cupcakes for him.

If only he knew that you’d wanted them to be perfect because they were for him.

And now you weren’t going to gift them to him because he thought it was a stupid holiday, and it was a stupid idea to think he might actually want them.

One of my favorite and most interesting thing about Jon is that he sorts peoples actions into Human and Monster

To him, the actions of monsters cannot be forgiven, as seen with Daisy, Helen and Jared

But along with that, the actions of humans always have an excuse, like Basira and his grandmother

The most prime example of this is with Jurgen where, prior to his meeting with him, he wrote Jurgen off as evil and when he did meet with him he dubbed Jurgen as just a spoiled confused child

And what makes this more interesting is how he perceives himself as a monster. He sees himself as unforgivable and monstrous, even when hes just doing what he needs to survive

He forgives people who hurt him, like his grandmother who neglected and obviously resented him and Basira, who threatened to kill him if he so much as stepped out of line, because they are human. They are people against a monster

The only time he doesnt blame himself for something is when he can blame another monster, like in mag 146, Threshold, where he blames the Web, another, different monster

And what makes his mentality so much more devastating is that many avatars, the monsters in his mind, are shown to not often be in complete control, whereas humans do have entire control

Avatars have to spread fear and hurt or they themself will die. In more explicit cases of lack of control Jon himself has stated he often doesnt realize what hes done until after its happened and Daisy becomes completely mindless by the end of the series to the point of only recognizing two things, a hunt and Basira (daisy also sorts people into monster and human, but thats because of hunt reasons)

Humans dont have these restrictions, humans are entirely free to do what they please, with the only con being they are significantly weaker than avatars

When Basira threatens him, she is doing it entirely through her own choice, whereas when Jon hunts statement givers he is doing it partly because hes forced into that position. But he will still forgive and rationalize Basiras actions while condemning and scrutinize his own, because she is the human and he is the monster

Anyways I like Jon he needs therapy

"how do you feel?" he asked, right at the entrance

"nervous"

"Yeah" Pedro huffed out a laugh "me too"

a day from now you were gonna be married, crazy I know, but there you were, walking into a venue you had spent six whole months planning.

You didn't expect you'd have cared this much about appearances or about the reception, you always were a "family and close friends" kinda gal, but somehow, you had found yourself wanting for everything to be perfect for what you already knew was going to be the happiest day of your life.

But of course, you couldn't compare to Pedro when it came to wanting everything to fall precisely into place.

he... well he had quite literally become a groomzilla.

And it's not like he had taken many of the decisions, it was all you, hell, if you had given him control there was a high possibility you were gonna end up walking down the aisle with a country band playing in the background.

But still, if there was one thing out of place, if one person didn't do exactly what you had asked of them... oof... good luck to them.

"oh my god" you breathed, looking around the room 

"wow" he joined in your fascination.

"This is amazing" A giggle fled your throat.

It really was.

everything was exactly how you had envisioned it.

The tablecloths, the mahogany chairs, the subtle but still awfully pretty centerpieces, the handwritten menus...

It was just perfect. 

"Well it was all you sweetheart" he smiled, taking your hand in his and kissing the crown of your head

"with your help" you added

"Of course" his face brightened as he chuckled "Imagine if hadn't picked this color for the napkins" he joked

"well, they are very pretty napkins..."

"thank you" he gave you a small bow, stifling a grin.

"So is everything right?" he asked, looking around even though he didn't really have a clear idea of how it should have even looked like.

"yeah I-" you stopped yourself, your glance falling to the flowers adorning the bottom of each table "Oh" you frowned

"what?"

there it was, the -who the fuck fucked up?- tone, planning a wedding had for some reason stemmed from him

"I just-" you glanced at him "don't worry it's nothing"

"no baby, tell me, what's wrong?"

"I just- I ordered purple lilies, not white" you pointed to the mishap.

He followed your finger and with a tick of his jaw and a frown of his forehead, the same Pedro that had caused the "chair accident" was back.

Now, your whole friend group had been calling it that since you told them about it, but the "chair accident", or if you'd like - the time you had to make him wait outside the store because he was getting way too angry at the guy when he had told you he couldn't get the chairs you wanted in time- was just one of the many "incidents" he would have caused along the way.

Pedro wanted everything to be perfect, and the truth be told, he didn't want so for himself, no, he wanted everything to be like you wanted it to, he wanted everything to be perfect for you.

So with time, you had gotten quite good at analyzing and realizing when that part of him was surfacing again, as if he was a non-fully tamed tiger and you, his tamer.

"we gotta call the guy" he started

"they can't change them in just a da-"

"who gets something like this wrong? there's a big difference between white and purple, how did we get the only colorblind florist in the world!?"

"baby" you snorted "it's really not that important"

"yes it is, You wanted purple lilies and we didn't get purple lilies, that's a problem in my book" he shook his head, already pulling out his phone " I'm gonna call him right now and-"

"Pedro," you took a step to close the gap between you and place a hand on his chest soothingly "I promise you, baby, it is not a big deal. I like them white too"

"Are you just saying that just so that I won't make a scene?"

"maybe..." you smiled "but also because it's the truth"

He tilted his head, not fully convinced

"I love them" You leaned up to come face-to-face with him, wrapping your arms around the back of his neck "I promise"

"you're trying to distract me"

"is it working?" you laughed softly

"Yes. Yes, it is" he confessed, forgetting all about the flowers the moment his lips met with yours.

A Defense of Benny Gecko

Benny is more of a capable leader and person than people give him credit for.

Seeing as no one challenged his position as head Chairmen for 7 years and even then he only loses the position if he’s caught, killed or forced to leave. Yes, it’s also likely House wouldn’t have allowed him to be killed but he sure as hell would of found a way to remove him if he was causing too much unrest within The Tops power structure. Even Swank and Tommy don’t outright dislike him and more so are concerned with his recent secretive and shady behavior, emphasis on recent.

Taking all we know into consideration, Benny likely knew the future direction that he wanted to take Vegas but was so caught up in the plans to acquire Vegas that he didn’t think of how to make his dream a reality. Something he admits to in canon. I see this being used as the main argument that Benny doesn’t know what he’s doing at all but I see it more in the same vein as you can’t really plan something from nothing. The transformation of Vegas is a sensitive thing that he can’t really work on until he has it. The only reason he ran to the Fort prematurely is the Courier who was causing so much of a stir he would’ve likely been found out much faster, making all that planning for nothing if he didn’t take that chance.

Benny is careful (well a lot more careful than he is regularly depicted in fanon), the Courier being able to trace him was dumb luck on their part and his hair being noticed at the Fort is a realistically small oversight that even Caesar is disappointed in because he admits Benny got farther than he should’ve been allowed by his legionaries. The fact he can plan an ambush on the Courier or tries to quickly and concisely clean up lose ends that don’t lead back to him shows he’s not just acting on impulses or in the moment decisions. Or rather he’s quite good at thinking them out, whether they work depends on how you play really. This is all to say it’s 100% believable that Benny could lead an independent Vegas (house was basically setting him up to do that). If he had known explicitly that House was setting him up to replace him, he likely would’ve bought more time by getting in closer, learning more of the system to then flip House’s edge to his favor. Again something he was doing already but likely without the knowledge of House’s feelings on him personally.

No matter what, Vegas’ future was tied to Benny; House’s plans for him, having to get the chip and if he had somehow succeeded. It’s also interesting that of all the people vying for control of the dam/Vegas, Benny’s plans are the only ones actually oriented towards a new future, not a recreation of something long past.
