Sonic Prime's Inconsistent Lore (News)
So, I had been saying this several times, but here's a comprehensive video from SonicHub about why Sonic Prime was written that way, including an answer on BumbleKast from Ian Flynn about the inconsistency of the show in regards to the lore.
To sum it up, Ian Flynn, long-time Sonic Comics writer and contributing writer for Sonic Frontiers, had been brought in as a consultant for Sonic Prime. He had actually flagged the inconsistencies he could find in the script, but the writers for Sonic Prime either didn't get the memo to actually listen to him or just flat out ignored Ian Flynn's warnings. There was a lot of cogs moving, so something can get lost in translation, but yeah, there was also a sense of ignorance from the writing staff.
Still, despite the fact that Ian Flynn was brought in just as a consultant and not as a writer, people were mad at him as if he was responsible for the errors and inconsistencies in the show's writing. Hell, even the mandate about Sonic Prime being canon to the games came down later from SEGA. In other words, people got mad at a guy who had nothing to do with this mess in the first place and did his best to fix it, knowing well the wrath of the Sonic community.
''[...] A consultant's position really is 'You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink'.'' - Ian Flynn, BumbleKast
In the end, Sonic Prime isn't a bad show per se and I definitely enjoyed watching it. It actually gave us a lot of good stuff, like Shadow's character (which you can read about HERE), but it fumbled the bag when it came to lore details like Sonic actually having met a robot doppelgänger before Chaos Sonic (that being Metal Sonic) or fighting robots without being powered by Flickies (which happens in Sonic Heroes).
Honestly, I genuinely hope people will first do their research on the matter instead of blaming Ian Flynn for stuff that happens that is outside of his control.

It's not an apology, it's a clarification. He very directly says "you misconstrued what I said" a thing multiple people around here have been trying to say for months. He said this exact same thing in an Instagram post he made a few months ago but people lack the reading comprehension skills to follow something like that. So he said it in a TikTok video again only some people are still not understanding. And it's because they don't want to. (He has recently taken his Instagram post down, I'm guessing because he is getting relentlessly harassed.)
The truth of the matter is that many people didn't take the time to understand basic facts about this situation (like what the word Zionism actually means) and the result was that a lot of misinformation spread because people were desperate to make sure their followers knew they were The Most Progressive and The Most Anti-Racist. They did not talk about this issue in a way that was culturally sensitive. They made assumptions about Noah based on anti-Semitic stereotypes and I don't even think they realize they are doing it because, again, they aren't well-informed.
But every time someone twists the word Zionism to mean "pro-genocide" and makes the flying leap that anyone using that word is laughing at people dying they are falling into the stereotype that Jews are bloodthirsty. Anytime people say that any Jewish person has the wrong information in this situation and needs to education themselves about their own culture, they are believing that Jews can't be trusted. They did all of these things to Noah and they did it very easily because they are ignorant. These people essentially turned into an angry mob. I can't even count the amount of comments I saw that were basically "I hate Noah too!!! Wait, what did he do? Someone tell me!" They piled on because their peers were doing it and not because they had any clue what the problem was. It was the cool and trendy thing to do so they did it. And they deluded themselves into thinking they were saving Palestinians in the process when they actually didn't do shit for anyone.
The only problem is that the people who did this didn't take the time to inform themselves before piling on. Noah didn't apologize to them because he doesn't have to. They owe him an apology though and I think the ones with larger followings are responsible for a lot of this and imo are lucky they didn't get sued for defamation. He didn't do any of the things they are accusing him. They decided for themselves what he thought and believed based on very little information and they have no right to do this to anyone. They seriously think Noah is responsible for single-handedly killing people. He's not in the military or a politician. He didn't even endorse anyone who did. This whole situation is the stupidest fucking thing in the world. They are more outraged over the bullshit they made up about him the actual political situation and it's because they don't actually care. They are using Palestinians as an excuse to say hateful things, but they aren't helping them at all.
I don't think Gen Z-ers are realizing that everyone older than them is getting increasingly more concerned about the way they go about their political activism. It's a serious problem and this current political situation only highlighted problems with them that had been occurring for a while now. Relentlessly harassing any Jewish person online for not speaking exactly to your liking isn't activism. Threatening to kill people who disagree with you isn't activism. Trying to ruin someone's career because they didn't act like your parasocial bestie isn't activism. Spamming the comments of everyone's posts with Free Palestine isn't activism and it sure as hell isn't what spreading awareness looks like. That requires being well informed first. Not to mention learning how to have difficult conversations without screaming hysterically at people and shouting that they must be pro-genocide/racist/misogynist/homophobic every damn second just because they said something you didn't take the time to understand.
They need to learn to ask for a clarification before assuming the absolute worst about people. They do this to people in the fandom constantly and it's why no one decent posts here regularly anymore. They are ignorant, plain and simple. But they are so desperate for peer approval and for people to think they are the best activists ever that they don't realize how much damage they do when they behave this way.
The people still pissed at Noah were always going to be. They were always going to pick him apart because they are anti-Semitic and they made that very clear. All he is saying is that people need to understand that both Jews and Palestinians are human and stop taking sides. A thing that anyone with a shred of human decency has been saying for months. The people who haven't been saying this tend to be very young (teens and early 20s) and it's because they fell for a lot of unverified information on TikTok - something that is concerning a lot of people given that it is an election year in the US.
All anyone had to do here was listen and they didn't. They are too busy trying to be morally superior to anyone to bother having an actual conversation. They still aren't listening. There was nothing wrong with what Noah said here either. But people are determined to believe that he was laughing at people dying when he wasn't. This literally never happened. They just heard a word they weren't familiar with a jumped to awful conclusions. It's not their place to educate anyone on anything. They are not qualified to do so. And I wish people were smarter about who they were reblogging and weren't so desperate to get more followers by jumping on the bandwagon. They cause so much drama in the fandom constantly by acting like this. This is just the latest example.
The people who think it's now suddenly ok to be violent and homophobic towards someone just because they perceived that person to do something they didn't like, were waiting for an opportunity. They wanted to be horrible and they think they got a reason. They didn't and there is never a reason to behave like this. But it did reveal just how many people in this fandom are horrible human beings. The people who weren't saying this directly were still agreeing with those people and were not better than them. It should have set alarm bells off in their heads that the only people who agreed with them were being vile. That should have been the first clue they were on the wrong side. I wish people learned to think for themselves better. They were clearly jumping on the bandwagon and didn't understand what was going on.
And I stand by my comment from a few months ago, we would not be dealing with relentless drama in the fandom if the show had a higher rating. And I do think they need to focus more on their original adult audience again. Most of us do not feel comfortable posting regularly in this fandom when it got taken over by kids who don't understand any of the things they are upset about, but they are upset with everyone and everything constantly. No one came here to babysit.

by the way, what the fuck is up with DS9 ep The Begotten? The one with the changeling baby and Dr. Mora. Because, to me, it felt like the intended 'moral' of the episode was, "actually you should forgive your abusers if they're your parental figure because actually they just wanted what was best for you and therefore shouldn't be held responsible for Literally Torturing You when you were too young to know anything. And besides, how can you not forgive them when they're so sad about you being no-contact with them? Can't you see that they love you?? Aren't you being cruel for refusing to forgive them for their mistakes?"
Also, this all happened when our first introduction to Dr. Mora involved Odo literally dissociating and becoming violent because he was caused So Much Distress by the presence of the man who tortured him (which they also handled pretty poorly, imo). And then they want you to forgive him, and Odo to forgive him?
Excuse me??? That's fucked up??? I'm not crazy for reading it that way, am I?? Other people see this too??
Like, Mora abused Odo. Full stop. It wasn't even corporal punishment - which, may I remind you, unequivocally does not help kids, there have been STUDIES - it was. fuckin. tossing Odo into a Pain Machine in order to make him angry enough to leave or lash out. When Odo was too young and gooey to know or understand why he was in pain, just that he was. And then used him as entertainment for the Cardassian soldiers.
This is Not forgiveness territory. In no way does it make sense for Odo to forgive that man, and if he does, it should be framed as a horror story. It is a horror story.
They seem to paint the episode as some sort of feel-good flick?? The conclusion appears to be a ✧compromise✧ between Odo's and Mora's respective parenting philosophies, where Mora is like, 'I see, being Nice to children does help them, when used alongside Physical Pain', and Odo is like, 'I now forgive you for causing me Physical Pain when I was naught but goo because I, too, am causing pain to this. literal infant goo child. and I find it satisfying, or something. because abuse is fun i guess when it causes the goo to react'.
So, you're telling me that the resolution to this abusive parental relationship. Is by illustrating for us the cycle of abuse. And this is a good thing? Is that what I'm getting here?
What the fuck? No, really, what the FUCK. My first watch I spent the whole episode literally gritting my teeth I was so mad. There is not a single character who engenders more violent rage in me than Dr. Mora, entirely because of how DS9 handled that episode. Like holy hell. What the fuck.

also I just think it's really unintentionally cruel to look at armand's life and go, see this piece, which is the only piece where you felt safe and happy and loved even if bad shit was also going on? actually it was rotten to the core and there is no part of your life that was ever safe. and the anger and terror you feel about the entire rest of your life must also be applied here because there was nothing salvageable about this time. which could in fact be a very in character thing for daniel to do lmfao but that's not how I ever really see it presented

-I managed to finally contact the HRA division with me to stop firing at your people. For the love of Christ-the-Buddha get your asshole commander away from me she won't stop screaming slurs in languages I don't understand at me over the comms channel we're stuck in
Who in the-?! Oh, wait, shit, that's right, I forgot you were still awake in there. Christ-the-Buddha Almighty, that scared me.
Are you sure that's still Kennedi screaming? She (or, rather, her unconscious - and hopefully not lifeless - body) and her molten wreck of a Caliban have been with us at MSMC-148's drop site for like two hours now, waiting for pickup. Slipshod managed to pry your casket outta that slag heap you used to call a Genghis Mk. 1 and get you connected to a "life support" of sorts on one of their backup generators, but if you can still hear Kennedi's voice screaming bloody murder at you, then your systems might be fried worse than we thought. (No clue if that sort of thing is fixable or not...)
Hopefully the Albatross will be here soon. Our distress beacon is still up and running, and they should more than have our coordinates by now. We'll all be out of here soon. (I hope.)

I try not to fawn over actors or celebrities anymore, but my god, I just saw an interview clip of jacob elordi complaining about how expensive tote bags are now, and that he paid $54 at an art gallery for one because he got too nervous to say he didn't want it anymore after being told the price
and yeah, maybe I've been replaying this video with a goofy smile on my face, so what

idk I rly don't feel like Katsuki was (only, or even mostly) crying over Izuku becoming quirkless I think he was crying bc of what it might mean for their relationship. Their current rapport is built almost entirely on Katsuki helping Izuku master OFA. This isn't Katsuki (just) mourning Izuku losing his quirk, he doesn't know what else he can be to him
Katsuki saw something in Izuku way before anyone else did. When he learned Izuku was going to apply to UA he didn't laugh along with everyone else, he was scared Izuku could actually do it. If anyone knows Izuku's worth outside of having a quirk it's Katsuki but this will inevitably change how they interact with each other.
obviously losing OFA hit (or will hit-- he probably hasn't fully processed it yet) Izuku really hard and there's no way Katsuki's unaware of that but look at what he said, I thought we'd always be competing and chasing after each other. They can probably still do that, but what can that look like now that Izuku's going to be quirkless again? Do they have any idea? Is Izuku going to want that? Katsuki doesn't know! That's scary!
Anyway this is just me saying Deku needs to get off his ass and fucking talk to Katsuki!! The poor boy's poured his heart out to him multiple times and Deku still! won't! use! his words!!!

You would get more likes with mishanks than with shuggy. Mishanks ff is more popular. Mihawk is actually a great character but he’s a hidden gem so I guess you could miss those details about him. But if you reread you have to focus on him! He’s important to shanks just like buggy! It’s the best op ship and I love how he’s more equal and understanding to shanks than buggy
😑 it's a good thing i don't care about how many likes i get, then.

Lord Gehenna Big-Bonkers just finished bullying Miquella and his zombie-puppet like they were rich kids on the playground and she took their hats for good measure. She is now headed back home to her new husband Messmer where they will rule the Lands Between as it was truly intended to be— without Griffith-esque eternal 12 year old creeps, or shitty golden Loch Ness monsters giving orders from aliens.

More Western!hellcheer thoughts because my boyfriend read yesterday's post and said to me "he would not be a fucking deputy!"
Just like in season 4, Eddie gets framed for a crime committed by Henry Creel. Maybe Creel's on a spree robbing wealthy families and Eddie was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Now Eddie's an outlaw and he's doing the one thing he's always been good at: running.
He finds himself in Hawkins, a small town full of eccentric characters. There's Sheriff Jim Hopper and his lady friend Joyce Byers, who works at Melvald's General Store. There's Joyce's kids and all of their friends. Murray Bauman, the town's doctor. The Carver family, whose son Jason is set to follow in his father's footsteps as the town's pastor.
And then there's the Cunninghams. Phil Cunningham owns the town's only hotel, where Eddie finds himself staying. The Cunningham family, because of their wealth and influence, have most of the town in their pocket.
While in Hawkins, Eddie meets Chrissy. She's whip smart and cute as a button, and he's head over heels. They hang out and he gets to know her friends, but as Eddie has come to learn, all good things must come to an end.
Eventually, word travels to Hawkins about Eddie being wanted. The town freaks out, and the Cunninghams think they're his next target, when they're actually Creel's.
In the frenzy of everyone hunting Eddie down and trying to hang him for his crimes (maybe Sheriff Hopper is out of town on business and not there to stop them).
Somehow they prove his innocence and save his life and catch Creel yada yada yada. Maybe it's Chrissy that does it, saying "He can't have done it because he was with me!" and effectively shocking everyone because Chrissy sneaking around with an out-of-towner? Or even worse, sneaking around with this out-of-towner?
Idk I'm picturing lots of sneaking, lots of horses, lots of action, all the staples of your typical western.
