Sadly I can't criticize Lana's taste there, that kind of character is pretty hot.

Tumblr media
Jake went home for a few days to see his parents. Since he’s been back, he’s been acting strange - a little jumpy, on edge, like he’s waiting for something to happen. His father didn’t outright disapprove of his decision to stick around Top Gun because of you, but he didn’t show any support either. You assume the strange behavior is residual stress from spending time with his father. You thought he would shake it off in a couple of days.
Only he’s been back for almost a week and has been overly attached to his leather aviator jacket. It’s Jake’s lucky jacket. You know it is; he’s told you the stories. It holds sentimental value and, bonus points, he looks smoking hot in it. His words, not yours, though you readily agree. But he’s worn it everywhere, doesn’t take it off unless you're at home, it’s as if it’s a life jacket, and he expects removing it will suddenly make him drown.
You’ve watched him tuck it away in the closet each night for the past four days, patting it down as if checking for something or he’s suddenly developed an OCD tick. It’s no surprise that he wears it to the Hard Deck to celebrate Maverick’s retirement.
And yes, he looks obscenely hot in it, with a simple gray henley underneath, but he also looks extremely hot in the crowded bar. You had already suggested he take it off, and though Penny is taking the night off, she offered to put it in the back, so no one steals or spills anything on it.
“It’s fine,” he smiles, but it doesn’t reach his eyes, and he looks nervous. “I’m fine,” he assures you when you give him a pointed look. He places a kiss in your hair and insists he’s good, pulling you closer to him to allow some other patrons to pass.
Tumblr media
The Hard Deck gets a little too crowded, so the party moves outside onto the beach as the sun sets. Which Hangman is thankful for because he swears he’s about to burst into flames from overheating. The breeze off the ocean cools him down to a comfortable level again.
Rooster and Fanboy are being idiots, starting a wrestling match, and it’s only a matter of minutes before one of them takes it too far. You, Jake, Phoenix, Bob, Coyote, Maverick, Penny, Hondu, and Payback create a semi-circle to block them from falling into the fire pit and encourage them, hedging bets as to who will end up on their ass first.
Jake remains quiet. He just watches, sipping his beer, not rooting for either of them. His mind is too occupied, and whereas watching either Rooster or Fanboy get a faceful of sand would have entertained him before, he’s got too much going on to fully enjoy it.
He sees you check your watch and give him a concerned half-smile. “You okay?” you ask quietly.
“Perfect,” he says, slipping an arm around your waist and pulling you under his shoulder. It’s only partly a lie, he’s nervous and stressed, but he can’t tell you that without making you question him further.
As the wrestling steps up a notch, you straighten up and yell with a gleeful smile, “Get him, Fanboy, get him!”
Fanboy makes a grab for Rooster’s leg, who hops back out of reach but loses his balance, twisting to catch himself on your shoulders, knocking your glass of red wine all over your white shirt.
The shock makes you gasp, and as the liquid soaks in, Rooster remains pressed against you, too worried to step back to assess the damage.
“I’m so sorry,” he says, clearly trying to suppress his laughter.
“Oh,” you laugh, shaking your head, “you’re so paying for the dry cleaning.”
Rooster slowly peels himself away from you, and his yellow Hawaiian print shirt has a small patch of red, whereas your shirt is now pink. You pull the wet garment away from your skin.
“Jake, baby, give me your shirt,” you coo, batting your eyelashes at him.
He moves on autopilot, handing his beer to Coyote, slipping off his jacket, and trapping it between his knees to save it from the sand. He slips the jacket back over his shoulders, handing you his shirt, and he doesn’t fully process what you’ve asked him to do until he watches you whip off your shirt and replace it with his Henley.
You toss your ruined shirt at Rooster. “Dry cleaned,” you demand, “before you leave.”
“Yes, ma’am,” Rooster salutes.
“How come all she has to do is ask, and she gets whatever she wants?” Payback teases.
Jake’s too busy staring at you in his Henley to realize the question is meant for him till Payback barks his name.
“What’re you talking about?” Jake retorts, reluctantly pulling his gaze from you to look at the other pilot over the top of the fire.
“Dude, for the last few days we’ve all been here, it’s been ‘Jake get me a beer’ and ‘Jake give me your shirt’, and you haven’t batted an eye,” Fanboy adds, the rest of the team muttering in agreement.
“It’s not just the last few days,” Coyote adds, laughing. “It’s months, man. He bought her a house, lets her drive his car, and didn’t even raise his voice when she scuffed his alloys.”
“Shut up,” you chuckle, pointing a finger at Coyote. He’s already teased Jake about this particular subject to no end.
“Awww, and now you’re standing up for him,” Coyote jests with a smirk, “damn, he’s pussy whipped if he needs you to fight his battles.”
“He doesn’t need me to do anything,” you counter.
The old Hangman’s cockiness comes into play, and he smirks, “I can’t help it if I know how to keep my woman happy.”
Fanboy, Rooster, and Payback fake cough, “pussy whipped!”
“At least he’s got someone,” Bob snaps, “I don’t see anyone lining up to ride you three.”
The team is in shock for seconds before the chorus of contagious laughter starts filling the air with a litany of voices.
The laughter continues while the teasing switches to Bob and Jake watches you - bathed in the light of the bonfire, your head tipped back, eyes crinkled at the corners sparkling with genuine laughter, wearing his shirt. You’ve never looked so beautiful. It’s enchanting, and not for the first time, he wonders how he got so lucky.
You must feel his eyes on you because you turn to face him, and just as your expression softens, he finds the words he’s been struggling with for days.
“Marry me,” he blurts out, perhaps a little too loud to make sure you can hear him over Bob’s ribbing.
Everyone freezes and the laughter cuts off. Your mouth hangs open slightly, and he can see your chest rising and falling rapidly.
He quickly digs in his jacket pocket, pulling out a simple, elegant diamond ring and dropping to one knee in the sand. “Marry me?” he repeats as a question this time. Your shocked silence prevails, and he rambles, “I didn’t go home last week; I went to your parents to ask your dad for permission. I’ve been wearing this jacket for days now, my grandfather wore it to propose to my grandmother, and my dad wore it to ask my mom, and I’ve just been waiting for the right moment, but I swear I’m close to dying from heat exhaustion and I don’t want to wait any longer.”
“Jake,” you sigh, but emotion catches in your throat, tears pool in your eyes, and you're speechless again.
He’s not sure if they are tears of joy, pure shock, or pity, but regardless he’s not done talking. “You're it for me, Y/N. I’ve known it from the moment you broke my nose on this very beach. I love you, Y/N Y/L/N, and I want to start our future together. But I can wait if you're not ready, I will wait. So if it's a no, I’m fine with that, but I'm really hoping it's a yes. Will you marry me?”
He holds his breath, feeling every set of eyes on him, and for once, it’s attention he doesn’t want. The edges of his vision seem to blackout, and all he sees is you, firelight dancing on your cheek, making your tear tracks glow.
Quicker than he can blink, you launch yourself at him. He doesn’t expect it, so when you crash into him, he ends up flat on his back, with you lying on top of him, kissing him, hard and passionately.
“Is that a yes?” Bob whispers to Phoenix.
But it’s Rooster who happily replies, “I'm pretty sure that's a hell yes.”
Tumblr media
I'm so sad to say goodbye to these guys 🥺😭 but I hope you enjoyed it, thank you for the support.
There is a flangsty Rooster fic in the making 😍😍😍

7.What are your favourite relationships between your OCs? (romantic or platonic!)
28. Favourite songs at the moment?
-@transolar
Oooo good questions!! TYSM for asking then ^^ Going with 28 first since it's shorter! A selection of favourite songs: A good song never dies - Saint Motel The Woods - San Fermin Watchmaker - Area 11 The Wolf And The Sheep - Alec Benjamin Red Line - Anna Yvette Favourite relationship between OCs? Hmm, that's a super hard one! I have a lot of OCs whose relationships I really like & enjoy, so take a few I really want to talk about:
Atlas & Althea - The very first OCs whose relationship I really ended up loving? I just adore the 2 of them so much, especially together. Althea was a custom design who I literally commed for the sole reason of making a GF for Atlas, who I wasn't even supposed to keep lol. There isn't anything in particular about their dynamic that draws me to them? Their main relationship theme is kind of a shared healing journey. They both experienced similar but separate life-altering trauma, meeting in a support group for it. They just have a happy domestic life together, very slice of life & soft sweet vibes.
Verity Rai & Anastasia - Sticking with the good vibes & theme of shared life journeys together are these 2 ancient gals! Bonus fact is that they're the first 2 married OCs I ever had / made. Their story is very much a gay love story about discovering yourself and finally feeling free to explore your identity; finding someone with whom you feel safe and comfortable enough to question yourself and then along the journey ending up falling in love with them. These 2, as it turns out, are very much sapphic and very in love. They're going to spend their eternities with each other <2
Quinn & a lot of people actually - Ahhh, a big old polyship of mine! Quinn is probably one of my most precious OCs, she has my whole heart. She is also very much polyamorous & has many multiple partners; I'm not going to go in depth regarding all of her relationships but I do want to shout her out in general. She has romantic, platonic, fluitic & QPP relationships; all of which I enjoy depicting her in. She also happens to be one of the very few OCs I have who has kids and also just like siblings in general?
Nokomis & Takeshi & Pandora & Edith - Stopping the good vibes train here with this horrible (/aff) little family. There are so many problems between these siblings and they have a fairly dark storyline? I'm keeping those details to a minimum here though. Details below the cut (includes mentions of prejudice and generally really shitty treatment of an individual)
Noko & Takeshi hate each other so much. He was such an awful and prejudice brother towards her, taking the first chance he could to throw her out to the wolves. He was the de facto head of the family and used that to kind of ruin Noko. (He's a horrible guy to be honest.) He never trusted her and always whispered behind her back to their siblings; she thinks that he was the main one to ruin her life. She's not entirely wrong either. There is animosity between them that not even a million years could wipe out. Noko & Edith always had a very strained relationship mainly because of Takeshi, who Edith tended to defer to. So when the 'big incident' happened and it 'proved him right?' Well, she was more than happy to agree to get rid of Noko. Neither sister has ever hated the other really? Up until that point at least, then Noko was on her way there. Edith's actions are, in the distant future end, forgivable at least. Noko & Pan were always the closest out of the siblings, they had the tightest bond. Pan always stood up for Noko and made her feel welcome and loved, like she mattered even when their siblings attitudes felt cold. Losing Pan? Ruined Noko in ways that can't be articulated; Pan was her rock and anchor, without her Noko was lost. Pan is the absolute largest and in charge(est) source of emotions in Noko; turmoil, grief, doubt, agony, self hatred. It's all in there. Edith looked up to Takeshi and tended to defer to him. He appreciated the backup and trust placed in him. She did sometimes argue Noko's point with him, swaying him to a degree, even she couldn't make him see reason. Pan was generally at at odds with Takeshi over his treatment of Noko but did still love him. He loved her but never understood where she was coming from and why she cared so much about Noko. He was so stubborn on the matter, claimed he was trying to protect them all from Noko. Pan very much disagreed about this, she knew Noko was no danger. Pan and Edith sort of got along? They both loved each other but Pan, for good reason, could never forgive Edith siding with Takeshi. Pan was capable of swaying Edith and, pre incident, basically had converted her to Noko's side. She was so close to making her sister realise how irrational she was being until she wasn't...

A revised History of Star Trek
https://ift.tt/wG3KQB7 by RogueAquarius There is an unfortunate truth in Star Trek that characters who ought to be important are often treated like they don't exist, are poorly written, or changed on a whim. This collection is a series of rather considerable changes I've made to a variety of characters and the people related to them that underpin my work. Some of it will be sprinkled in as I go, but for those who want a deep dive now, here it is. Enjoy! Words: 4435, Chapters: 3/3, Language: English Fandoms: Star Trek, Star Trek: The Original Series, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager Rating: Mature Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Categories: F/F, F/M, M/M, Multi, Other Characters: Joseph Sisko, Sarah Lafayette, Benjamin Sisko, Christine Yvette Williams, Maurice Picard, Jean-Luc Picard, Robert Picard Relationships: Sarah Lafayette/Joseph Sisko, Christine Yvette Williams/Maurice Picard Additional Tags: Fix-It, Alternate History

Why are they arresting Chang? I thought you said Laquanda wasn't pressing charges. Not against Jeff, but I talked her into going after Chang for child endangerment. Shirley, he could get three to five years for that. Are you sure that's what you want? Because if we put our heads together, we could be rid of him for twenty to life.

“Yvette I swear to god if you tell me one more time I’m doing this wrong I will smack you with this book!” Cindra tensed from where she was sitting across the room. Grandma and her mom always seemed to keep it together when Jorah or dad were home, but as soon as they were alone, they couldn’t manage to get along for longer than 20 minutes without shouting at least a little.
She wondered quietly if they even noticed that she was there most days. If they could manage to get along in front of anyone important, you’d think they’d notice that Cindra was in the same room. At least the babies were too young to really notice anything.
Tumblr media
The two adults had quickly given up trying to agree on how to teach her younger siblings a simple nursery rhyme and had moved to full on fighting.
Cindra scurried out of the room as their shouting caused Amelie to start crying on the livingroom floor. Cindra was sure she’d be better off in her room.

never-ending plot bunnies  /  post-ever after.
some characters of the fairy tale world get their happily ever after. others are forced to live with the fact that they do not. with all of the stories having come and gone, yvette resigned herself to never being the heroine of any story. she may be the same as rapunzel, the same evil sorceress taking her after her original captive was freed, but no one is coming to save her. at least she thinks so, until her invitation to attend the school of faraway lands (acceptance mandatory) arrives and she can finally leave her tower. the problem? her peers are all the children of those from other tales, and she doubts she’ll fit in, not when she refuses to accept the title of ‘evil sorceress’ daughter’.

Hey, dear! Let me be one [more] follower who asks a few quotes about some things. Could you compile some (just a few, just a bunch) about silence and/or introversion? Thank you dearly. ♡
a compilation v close to my heart ♡
“Solitude: liberation from even the expectation of being seen.”
Kathleen Graber, The Eternal City: Poems; “The Telephone”
“For now she need not think about anybody. She could be herself, by herself. And that was what now she often felt the need of — to think; well not even to think. To be silent, to be alone.”
Virginia Woolf, To the Lighthouse
“I thought of you—wished you were here with me but I get a keen sort of exhilaration from being alone…”
Georgia O’Keeffe, in a letter to Cady Wells, featured in Georgia O’Keeffe: A Life
“But I love such days—rare lonely days. I love above all things, my dear, to be alone.”
Katherine Mansfield, in a letter to J.M. Murry
“I am, oddly, happiest when alone for weeks on end talking to no one there, talking in my mind to the imagined listener who perfectly hears, perfectly understands, and talks back with equal truthfulness.”
Martha Gellhorn, from Selected Letters
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Amélie, dir. Jean-Pierre Jeunet (2001)
“For a long time now, every meeting with another human being has been a collision. I feel too much, sense too much, am exhausted by reverberations after even the simplest conversation.”
May Sarton, Journal of a Solitude
“I have packed myself into silence so deeply and for so long that I can never unpack myself using words. When I speak, I only pack myself a little differently.”
Herta Müller, from The Hunger Angel
“I don't see much of anybody these daysI feel rather funny with other people—even those whom I care for. While one's heart is being transformed into a little world, one wants to be alone.”
Kahlil Gibran, in a letter to Mary Haskell, from Beloved Prophet: The Love Letters of Kahlil Gibran and Mary Haskell, and her private journal
Tumblr media
Bella Akhmadulina, Fever and Other New Poems; “Longing for Lermontov” (tr. Geoffrey Dutton, Igor Mezhakoff-Koriakin)
“Perhaps I am addicted to solitude and feel safe and easy in it,”
Martha Gellhorn, Selected Letters
“…because there was too much silence within me. In those days I was alone,”
Clarice Lispector, Why This World: A Biography of Clarice Lispector
“My current silence interests only me. It touches too many parts of my personal life for me to explain it to you.”
Albert Camus, Notebooks (1951-1959), Vol 3.
“People love talking, and I have never been a huge talker. I carry on an inner monologue, but the words often don’t reach my lips.”
Gillian Flynn, Gone Girl
“And what were they anyway, sprigs of grass, things of blue? For a long time I wanted to use words, then didn’t.”
Mary Ruefle, Madness, Rack, and Honey
“What words? What words can I trust to convey this fragile heart?”
Jeanette Winterson, Gut Symmetries
Tumblr media
Keaton Henson, from “How Could I Have Known”
“So much of what we live goes on inside– The diaries of grief, the tongue-tied aches Of unacknowledged love are no less real For having passed unsaid. What we conceal Is always more than what we dare confide. Think of the letters that we write our dead.”
Dana Gioia, Unsaid
“But I cannot help it. I only want to be alone. I want to be myself and alone and free to breathe, live, look upon the world and find it however it is…”
Martha Gellhorn, from Selected Letters
“… Perhaps love is to give one’s own solitude to others? For it is the very last thing we have to offer.”
Clarice Lispector, Selected Cronicas; “The Gift”
“I’ve never been afraid of loneliness because I’ve never felt the need to justify my feelings to myself. I accept the muteness of feeling too. I have huge respect for my own silence. I let it speak. I allow time to do its trick and lead me back to myself. I don’t want just anyone to share life and myself with me.”
Anaïs Nin, from The Diary of Anaïs Nin, Vol. 5: 1947-1955
“Don’t allow yourself to be imprisoned by any affection. Preserve your solitude. If the day ever comes when a real friendship is bestowed on you there will be no conflict between your inner solitude and this friendship. On the contrary, that is the infallible sign by which you will know it.”
Simone Weil, First and Last Notebooks: Supernatural Knowledge

“O you—my sacred solitude!”
Anna Akhmatova, The Complete Poems; “Solitude (from Rilke)”

“Solitude as necessity, demandable, honorable. Not sinful, indulgent, wasteful, undeserved.”
