Originally, Pallas was Athena’s “adopted” sister and she had an adoptive father after being born from Zeus’ skull and the sister that she gained from the adoptive family was Pallas. She accidentally skewered her and with the remorse and devastation of losing her friend and sister, she eventually took Pallas’ name in honor of her memory.
