something that drives me insane on a relatively regular basis as a body jewelry understander is talking to people who have sensitive skin who are like "oh well I just can't wear any earrings without my ears getting inflamed" and I say "well what have you tried" and they say "well I've tried sterling silver and I've tried gold..." and it's like. ok. I don't know how gold and sterling somehow got spun by the jewelry industry as being especially good for sensitive skin but whenever I'm like "well have you tried implant grade titanium" they're always like "no....... but I've tried sterling silver... and it didn't work ..." like. I don't know how this narrative about sterling silver somehow got so strong but when they put pins in your fucking legs when you snap your leg in half are those pins made of sterling silver or are they made of implant grade titanium or surgical steel????????? HELLO. HI. YOU MIGHT BENEFIT FROM TRYING IMPLANT GRADE TITANIUM I AM JUST SAYING

Still thinking about the DATV banter where Bellara gets upset at Taash because the Lords of Fortune loot elven ruins but then because we're not allowed to have interpersonal conflict or character flaws in this game five seconds later Taash assures her that they have "the Keeper from the Dalish clan" appraise artifacts and return them to their rightful owners, as if it's not bizarre to claim that ONE guy from ONE clan could know every single ancient elven artifact and who its rightful owners are and how to return it to them. Not to mention they don't even bother giving this Dalish clan a name or location! He's just from "THE Dalish Clan!"

love how samaritan’s highly personalised, extremely detailed, 7000 or so simulations could still never have predicted the actual outcome of shaw escaping and coming across root again. like "root threatens to kill herself if shaw dies and they both stand around pointing guns at their own heads" was not on the cards. no samaritan simulation could ever match their freak!!

On a semi related note the more I am subjected to Microsoft products the more I become convinced that the reason so many people these days believe themselves to be “bad with computers” is that the programs they are forced to use in their professional life are utterly incomprehensible to ANY rational human being and they are (rightfully enough) extrapolating out that this is just how computers are. They aren't!!! In their quest to remove all the “scary” details from their poor fragile end users Microsoft have created an ecosystem that behaves completely erratically and unpredictably and is by definition unknowable. Things just happen. Then they stop happening. Nothing ever announces why or how. Just a thousand vague and useless popups that may or may not be there tomorrow. I PROMISE computers are actually extremely simple and logical beasts.

everybody come stand in a circle with me. we are going to pray that the season one remaster does not try to retroactively make characters who were assholes in the original more "likeable" in order to appease fans who start spitting up blood whenever a character is not a wholesome chungus blorbo glup shitto

To be honest I think I stopped taking the word ‘toxic’ seriously as soon as it started getting used to mean ‘anything that isn’t morally good and pure.’
Are those characters really toxic, or is their relationship simply layered with past history and complicated feelings that make it hard to communicate? Is the sex really toxic, or is it just consenting possessive non-missionary/bdsm adjacent sex between people who are otherwise in a happily committed relationship? Is that show toxic, or did it just do something that furthered the conflict? Is that book toxic, or is the thing it’s being criticized for literally the main point of the book?
Absolute false advertising. It’s such a catch-all word, it means nothing now. There’s no destructive or decaying or harmful qualities guaranteed here. The definition of what counts as ‘toxic’ has been so watered down that attaching it to a piece of media provides a net zero increase of understanding of what the media contains. It’s the fandom equivalent of putting a sign on your lawn that says No Solicitors, because it’s not about the thing being toxic — it’s about preemptively trying to block any naysayers from otherwise label the thing ‘bad’ by labeling it ‘bad but in an intentional way’ first, which still plays into the same stupid dichotomy of morally good media vs morally bad media that started this in the first place. It’s the same fucking hat.
For fucks sake

i feel like it's worth remembering that the most vulnerable people aren't just being "inconvenienced" by strikes. the only reason strikes work is because they grind an industry to a halt, and that genuinely can result in very dangerous situations for some people. the bystanders probably arent a huge issue with like the writers strike, but without say, UPS, a lot of people will not get medicine, food, and other essentials in time. and of course the workers themselves are sacrificing potentially everything to hold the line.
TO BE CLEAR, this is not the fault of the striking workers. the corporations could end this at any moment by choosing to be slightly less evil, and workers should not have to choose between endangering themselves constantly or endangering random strangers sometimes. but i feel like i see a lot of very flippant posts coming from a place of privilege where they're like "lol yeah i would love to be slightly inconvenienced all the time so people can be paid more, dont be a baby" as if strikes are a simple and easy solution, and not something people very bravely do, if not as a last resort, at least after exhausting the less dangerous options. fighting for our rights is not painless.

The point still stands that every single criticism of capitalism, imperialism, enviromental exploitation and society itself has been done by other ideologies that are not anti-civ and have better ideas than "we should RETVRN to pre-industrial times and let billions of people die"

People will never understand the grief and suffering that Caitlyn went through, they will never understand the complex characters who always did good things but unfortunately the world didn't do them justice. The characters who go through stages of despair, grief and anger, these are the characters the writers wanted to give you so that you understand the complexities of humans through fictional characters. They want to send you a deeper message than just this evil character who wants revenge. It's more complicated than that.
So let's get into the topic and why I made this post:
First Caitlyn never wanted to kill the child to get to Jinx. You never saw a character who was controlled by anger. Caitlyn saw nothing in front of her except Jixn, the person who completely destroyed her life. She became obsessed with Jinx in the same way that Jinx was obsessed with Caitlyn. Let's take another example of an angry and vengeful character, which is the character Ellie in tlou2. We saw her literally kill everyone in front of her to get to Abby. She even went as far as to kill Lev if Abby didn't fight her. Anger and sadness are emotions that are difficult to control. These emotions are what control the person.
And The Big Problem is no one hated Ellie back then, huh?? So why Caitlyn now 😑

But the sad thing for Caitlyn is that unfortunately the demon Ambessa is in the picture and she will definitely play an important role in changing Caitlyn's personality. Of course, as is known, Ambessa will benefit from Hex weapons and other things for her personal goals.
Another thing that caused Caitlyn to lose her mind was when Vi accidentally compared Cait to the person who killed her mother and had been trying to kill her multiple times. And Jinx had killed many people in Piltover more than once. All of these things came together on Caitlyn until she completely lost control of herself.
Bc in the end it is her city and she has the right to defend it and defend her people.
So honestly I don't blame Caitlyn, I'm not saying what she did was right, but AGAIN Vi unintentionally compared her to the person who killed her mother and caused her a lot of suffering, as Jinx kidnapped her, tortured her, and tried to kill her several times.
(Imagine someone comparing you to the person who killed your mother and ruined your life)
And in the end Caitlyn will realize her mistake and try to fix it and she will know that Ambessa was manipulating her all the time, and she will know that she is the cause of most of the problems in Piltover.
I'm sure Caitlyn's redemption arc will right all the wrongs she's done and will make up for everything to the Zaun people and Vi.
And mark my words, bc Caitlyn is the only character who knows the problems that exist in Zaun and surely after she gets rid of her anger that is eating her from the inside, she will do the right thing bc that is the core of the Caitlyn that we knew in season 1.
So please trust the writers and don't rush to judge characters until we see how they end first.
