I personally view the possibility of a romantic relationship between them as detrimental to their individual characters and it's not really something people want to talk about, which I get, but like there's a really deeper way to view their relationship other than "haha cute wholesome dramatic teen superhero romance" like on a metanarrative level. Because you'd think all the other things in spiderman mythos the movie is critiquing and expanding they'd address the very obvious elephant in the room with gwen but oop-
Yeah I think I'd rock w Gwiles more as a romantic ship if Gwen's role as a love interest wasn't so thematically dissonant. If they were gonna hijack Miles' story like that I think they should've had a better reason than justification for a romantic relationship. And then they added Margo to the mix so like what was the point of all that lmaooo
the dynamic of demigods thinking which other demigod is the most powerful is always amusing to me because. like, we know the big 3 kids are all the most powerful. That's just a fact of their universe. And then we know nearly every character views Percy as the strongest demigod, and most people are very rightfully intimidated by him.
and you look at the powers of the Big 3 kids and there's Percy, but then you realize Nico is just kind of objectively more powerful than him but simply chooses to hang out in Percy's shadow like he's Percy's scary dog privileges. Like, the two of them are pretty equally capable of causing multiple different apocalypses. Nico just also has like four different instakill powers and it's not like he doesn't use them. He very much uses them! Not infrequently, even! And they don't seem to take a significant amount of energy from him! And other demigods are pretty intimidated by both of them! But Nico makes a conscious point to keep his cards close to his chest and not let on exactly how dangerous and scary he can be if he wants to. People are already scared enough of him without knowing anything about him and he doesn't like that. Percy doesn't think about that nearly as much, and so usually just goes in guns blazing and that's part of why he's considered a wildcard. And then Nico himself puts Percy on a pedestal, so those who do know more about Nico's abilities then presume Nico knows something they don't about Percy that implies Percy is even stronger than him.
And even on a meta level Nico's narrative role requires him to be functionally more powerful than Percy, because he very often serves the purpose of getting Percy out of situations he can't handle on his own. That's just part of his function as a character! But also narratively he can't overshadow Percy so he just takes a backseat of his own accord and that's very amusing to me.
psa that the day there are no jgy stans left on tumblr dot com is the day i am dead
but rest assured i'll go to my grave exactly as i lived: obnoxiously proclaiming to everyone within earshot how great lianfang-zun is. narratively, metaphorically, spiritually. sexually, too, like why limit myself. i like to keep my options open
I’ve got this mental Venn diagram I’ve been turning over in my head since I rewatched The Princess Bride earlier tonight. It’s comparing and contrasting Inigo Montoya and Prince Zuko, there’s something that makes me think “this is the same guy, served two ways,” and yeah. it is the weed talking. but also I understand these characters and their narratives better than anyone else right now
How do you guys feel about some covers for a fake comic of an au I’m probably never going to write?
I have more ideas for other volume covers though I probably won’t draw them in order lol.
As for the premise, well its just as fishy as the start of season 10… in fact, the ocean possessing people and being generally strange towards the residence of one small New England fishing town is the entire point.
Funnily enough, by the liberty of having come up with it a few weeks before the season actually started and also me being very self indulgent, the characters are whoever the hell I want them to be!
I think we need more stories about how even if you are genuinally a bad person or did something truly atrocious that does not justify the suffering of the mordern Prison Industrial Complex and how prison more than punishment should be about making sure if not all at least most people can go back to society and never do crimes again.
I mean it. Most stories about how bad prison is either follows a thief that did it out of necessity or an innocent man wrongfully arrested and we should think of those people ofc. But we should also think about how prison is not supposed to be karma is supposed to help society (plus we need more assistencial programs to suport victims of violence as well asap).
Also, I really hope in the next episode they actually go back and have Suletta react to Miorine's greenhouse getting destroyed. Like it makes perfect sense for it to be destroyed now, both thematically and just realistically, but given the importance of the greenhouse to the show I would like more focus on it getting destroyed than the 5 seconds it got in this episode.
Like fr, my heart will explode if we get Suletta re-affirming her desire to be with Miorine in the ruins of her greenhouse.
I love seeing wc protagonists drawings because they almost always include GreyStripe and RavenPaw in TPB, the one thing that made that arc stand out was the fact that it had only one main protagonist
Like who invited GreyStripe and RavenPaw to the protagonist meetup, they both think they're on the team
tfw there's a change made to canon and it just so happens to impact a specific au you have but you actually like the change so now you just have to sigh and try and find a way to work it in
tell your good friends
you love them all doubtlessly
wordless and senseless without reservation
