Oof, way to many woobifying and feeling bad for Aegon now. Aegon is facing the consequences of his own actions.

He went to Rook’s Rest with the explicit intention of murdering a woman who is doing nothing but upholding her oath to her rightful queen. He meant to do exactly to Rhaenys what Aemond did to him. He didn’t deserve to be betrayed by his brother, but he deserved his injuries. He should not have tried to attack and roast Rhaenys if he did not wish to be attacked and roasted himself.

He stole the throne. Rhaenrya was the rightful Queen. She has strength and dragons to fight for her claim. War is the natural and only consequences of Aegon choosing (CHOOSING) to become a usurper. He never cared what the meant for the realm. People came to him with their concerns for what the war will mean for them as smallfolk. He was willing to put a bandaid on the issue, but never willing to give up his crown to solve it once and for all. He was okay with war. He was okay with thousands upon thousands dying so he could keep his stolen throne. That makes him a goddamn traitor. He ought to lose his head for it. He doesn’t deserve to be betrayed by his own mother, but he does deserve to face Rhaenyra’s wrath snd justice. Her son is dead because of him.

“He didn’t want to take the throne he was forced to” there was nothing the Greens could have done to force him to take the throne. Nothing. He had all the power. He could have ended the war before it started. The moment his coronation ended he should have taken Sunfyre, flown to Dragonstone, laid his crown at his sisters feet, and begged for forgiveness. It would be the ultimate act of fealty to Rhaenyra, and she would have gladly spared him. He could have liven a long and privileged life as a Prince.

He chose power. He chose the crown. He chose high treason. He chose to rape. He chose to murder. He chose himself, over and over again. Whatever misfortune befalls him, it is only the natural consequences of his own actions.

Cannot believe at this late stage of my life I'm becoming a Gabriel fucker. Local mean jock doesn't want to be evil now, he wants to be loved. I'm slightly annoyed they didn't make Beelzebub more unhinged because the "plot" should have been at least half about them fucking up shit on an absolute rampage trying to find Gabriel, a thing everyone assumes they are doing to fry him with hellfire so they can kick off the war in a way that's advantageous to hell, BUT ACTUALLY!!! true love.

it’s the way billy’s a scapegoat not only in show but for the duffers too like

people will spend all their time focusing on the actions of a fictional teenager rather than question the fact these two white men were all too eager to have a racial slur used against a literal child and have felt comfortable having racism in lucas’ story without it actually go anywhere all while putting no focus on him as a character

they use it as a thing, as a prop, rather than acknowledging it as the systemic issue it actually is - like they use it, have lucas canonically experience racism and then push his character to the back

it’s so blatant too, there’s nothing subtle about it but because everyone’s so busy focusing on big bad billy hargrove, racism doesn’t get discussed in the stranger things fandom the way it should because everyone’s too busy focusing on the actions of one single fictional character

I am very glad Bloodhound ate me before I finished the book that canonically comes after it.

Because now I will be in the same headspace as Deluca when he writes his memoir--romanticized record of his creation and adventures with his maker/lover--while I revise Before Deluca.

I also now know precisely why he is writing it and what he hopes it accomplishes, and why there are so many tiny apologies hidden in it and a distinctly morose vibe to some of his narration.

The real fun will be writing Bloodhound Vol2, wherein Lucient reads Before Deluca and I get to see what he thinks. I already know he'll hate it but also love it and probably read it more than once and complain about everything he got wrong.
